Synopsis: A synopsis of what happened here.
Date: DATE HERE, remember to add 60 years to the year to get the timing right :)
UCAS Sector - The Hollow Point - Conference Room A(#11675R)
This opulent meeting room looks as if it were stolen directly from some corporate skyraker. An Amazonian Teak table dominates the oversized room, its surface polished to a shine. A massive handmade Persian rug lies beneath the table and is kept immaculately clean. Twelve plush meeting chairs sit around the table, with several extras (though not as plush) line the wall next to the sideboard for clerks and those late to the meeting. The walls are done in a rich matching teak, adding a layer of soundproofing to match the state of the art white noise generators and anti-spy technologies incorporated into the walls.
The bar in this room is magnificent, stocked with expensive wines, imported waters, fifty year old Scotch and more. The centerpiece of the room is, however, the Overlook. Spanning a good portion of the shooting range on the lower level, the one-way mirrored ballistic plastics and glass along with a Faraday cage give the ultimate in protection while allowing a full view of the goings on.
Down below on the range itself, Desert Wars Sniper is currently loaded, and virtual sand stretches as far as the eye can see, tossed and teased into dunes and gullies, but offering little protection. In front of the shooting lanes, the windswept dunes are interrupted by the angular shape of the enemy position, a collection of drab khaki tents and prefab buildings. It takes keen eyes to spot the figures moving about within, let alone successfully shoot them from the apparent distance, but such is the task. Against the harsh glare of the holographic sun, the black contrast of the shooter's score etched into the sand just ahead of each lane manages to stand out, but not much else does. Scores are also visible in a small fiber optic panel within the viewing window.
Flint recieves the call from Teeg, its a short discussion, Teeg has a meeting he would like Flint to attend, its one of those jobs that are, well, better not talked about much. Flint gets the idea, and needs the cash, his current gig just doesn't pay enough. He shows up, armed of course, cause heck, its weapons world. He shows his permits for his sidearms and heads into the conference room. He looks around briefly, then finds a seat and settles down at the table.
«Plot» Mirage says, "The johnson waits patiently in the most plush conference room Shooter World has to offer. As one of his assistants makes the calls, Mr. J simply waits, watching the impressive holography and the talent bellow."
Having recieved the call Hunni had come along sans her usual shadow. With her secure coat on she too was armed though missing her rifle. Still, with her two predator III's she's not 'naked' to this meeting. Her enterance to the club doesn't gather so much as a second glance, she's here all the time after all.
Viper gets the call from Johnny, her merc contact, talking about a possible job. The meet is at Shooter World, and as luck would have it, she was already there, getting in a little target practice. So, she finishes up and heads further into the building into one of the conferance rooms, glancing around curiously.
Having recieved the call from her usual fixer contact, Sabrette, Kalavati doesn't really bother spending too much time, being bothered with mundane conversation before she's already getting herself ready to arrive at the meeting as she rushes into one of the closets of her apartment, immediately pulling out a very small handgun, and a single, additional magazine, and a few other pieces of equipment before she moves herself to rush out of her apartment, locking the door behind herself as she leaves to approach her car. It had taken her a short while to arrive at the destination of the meet as she had parked her car near the building, stepping out to enter it as she conceals the weapon behind herself, at her waistline, and heads into the building. She moves herself into the conference room, holding a rather serious, focused expression on her face as she simply scans over the area for a very short moment before her attention locks onto the Johnson, though she doesn't really say a word, not really paying too much attention to the other three that had arrived before her as she simply stands near one of the chairs that had been pulled up to the table.
«STAFF» Mirage says, "Prove some permits for all these weapons, and the SINs they are tied to, folks."
Having actually been turned back from the gate, Kalavati had rather quickly walked herself back across the parking lot, toward her car as she lifts both of her hands up, shoving them down into the tiny pockets of her hoodie for a moment, digging around before she pulls out both the keys to her car, as well as her cellphone. "Fuck~…." she quietly breathes out to herself as she begins to send a text message through her phone; her buttons starting to move around to push the buttons to send something to her fixer before she simply stops herself, possibly considering the damage that it could do to her reputation. She slips her phone back into her pocket and steps up to her car, pushing a button on her key to unlock the doors before simply popping it open; her newly-freed hand pulling back behind herself as she reaches for the small handgun that she had brought with her, unclaspin the odd little holster from her waistline as she pulls it infront of herself and reaches down, essentially shoving the weapon down underneath her seat before essentially slamming her door shut, locking the car again to make her way back toward the building empty handed, moving rather slowly as she shifts her eyes to look around herself, possibly trying to make sure that nothing truly suspicious was happening at the moment on her way toward the conference room.
Having reconcidered Hunni had changed her mind about the guns, figuring there'd be enough armed people in Shooter world to keep her safe. She'll pick them up later. Stepping up to meeting she'll look to the room she was told to seek out and enter. Hopefully there's not a bullet with her name on it in there.
«Plot» Mirage says, "As the last of the 4 runners enter, the Johnson's Aid, a tall dark skinned human in a business suit, closes the door behind Hunni. The hum of the white noise generator starts, and all the cellphones and wireless devices go link dead, as is customary in these high security conference rooms. Gesturing for the crew to sit down, the Johnson, a business woman in her late 40's and perhaps a tad on the heavy side, waits patiently as the Aid hands out optical memory chips from a small tray. "If you'll go ahead and slot the data provided, we can get started on the specifics of this operation." she says, full of confidence."
Flint reaches into a pocket, having sat already after entering. He draws out, slowly, a pocsec. That done he will reach for a chip when the tray comes around, and slot it into the device to get an idea of what this whole deal is about.
Viper glances at the Aid as he comes around, taking one of the OMCs offered. She glances over at the Johnson then, listening even as she's pulling out her poc-sec to slot the chip into. Only one here that she knows is Flint, so she gives him a nod, now even more curious what this job might be.
Hunni too draws out a pocsec, just to be different. Slotting the chip she looks between the others but she's keeping quiet, her attention mostly on the woman speaking even if her eyes do glance to the assistant who seems more the bodyguard type.
Kalavati lowers herself to sit down into one of the chairs at the table; her legs moving to push her seat closer to it as she simply relaxes back slightly into the chair and plainly holds both of her hands in her lap before her head turns to the side, focuing her attention onto the Aide. As the man comes around, she turns her body slightly and lifts both of her hands up, reaching one of them out for the chip that the man had passed around before pulling her other hand back into her pocket, retrieving her thin, silver pocket secretary as she holds it down into her lap. She slots the chip into the little device; her head tilting down to stare at it without saying a word as she holds her serious, focused expression on her face.
«Plot» Mirage says, "The chips seem to provide information on a bunker in the rocky mountains. Some secret research facility type deal, made from an old Copper Mine. The schematics are fairly detailed, even going so far as to give photos of various rooms. It is, however, incomplete information, as certain areas have notices of "Restricted" where the information would normally be provided. Underground living areas, hydroponics, offices, labs… This place had everything you'd need to survive being closed off from the rest of the world for years. The odd part: The chip claims it's an Ares base. In the Rocky Mountains. PCC territory, to be exact."
«Plot» Mirage says, "The Johnson lets the runners take a moment to collect their thoughts, while she patiently waits for them to show that they are done looking over the information."
Flint scans through the data a few times, he really wants some of those memory enhancers, but hopefully he gets to keep the chip if he must reread later. He looks up now, simply looking at the Jay, an effort to signal that he is ready to hear more.
Kalavati's eyes narrow quite a bit as she stares down toward her pocket secretary, silently gathering the information from the chip as she seems to look it over twice, apparently trying to retain as much of the information as possible before she simply tilts her head back to look toward the others before focusing her attention back onto the Jay again as she straightens herself out in her seat; one of her hands lifting up infront of herself to rest against the edge of the table just infront of herself as one of her legs begins to bounce repeatedly for some reason or another, as if she were anxious to hear more details of the mission.
Hunori frowns a little as she reads the layout, such closed in corridors and rooms don't exactly compliment a sniper, but she'll make do. Looking between the others to see how they'll react she'll wait to here more. She doubts they're just going to be looking at the pretty building for the sake of it.
Viper frowns slightly as she reads over the information. Like an old nuclear bunker, but why would Ares need one? She lowers her poc-sec and looks back over at the Johnson to listen to more of what this job is about. Rocky Mountains is a bit away, but just means a nice roadtrip.
«Plot» Mirage says, "The jay starts to speak on the subject, skipping introductions, as soon as the runners look to be done reviewing the material. "What that chip doesn't tell you is that Ares CFS evacuated all personel and put a ban until further notice on employees entering the site. They sealed the main door, and the parent company is keeping quiet about the subject. You are here on behalf of one of the other major subsidiaries, to investigate the site. The investigation procedure is simple: You will escort an Ares Operative into the building and gain access to the Mainframe housing room. There the operative will extract the building's core data, at which point you will escort the Operative back out."
Flint nods slowly, then speaks "Escort? I take it there is some sort of threat involved then. Are we allowed to know what the main topic of research at that site was?"
Viper raises an eyebrow at that as well. Babysitting some corporate suit? Well, worse ways to make a living. She glances over at Flint as he poses the question and then looks back to the Johnson. "Will be provided transport or do we need to come up with that on our own?"
Hunni leans back a little for a moment, her eyes closing for a moment and she looks between the pair. "Is there any security systems that we should be aware of?" she says once Viper and Flint's questions are answered. "Any automatic systems that might trigger and pose a threat to us?"
«Plot» Mirage says, "To be frank, we don't trust the data on the subject we have been able to uncover. The escort is just a precaution, and the primary threat is likely automated sentry turrets. Accourding to the research notes made public to the company, the facility was working on next generation drone systems. The papertrail disagrees, as the accountants say it's more likely biochem or paramagical related."
The jay responds.
"An' th'pay?" Kalavati blandly asks the woman, possibly figuring that one of her main questions had already been asked by another as she begins to idly tap her index finger against the surface of the table infront of her, possibly finding that to be the most important part of the conversation. Her leg stops bouncing and her entire body seems to hold still as she remains focused on the Jay, possibly awaiting another answer or something similar as she continues to hold her pocket secretary down in her lap.
«Plot» Mirage says, "Oddly, it's the aid whom responds to the fee question, replying "Two hundred thousand nuyen total, with additional fees added in for transpertation if necissary, as well as med-evac charges if required. One hundred thousand for an honest attempt, one hundred thousand for a successful mission. The transportation fee is fifty thousand and covers 500 kilos of personel and equipment.""
Hunni looks between the others again and frowns at the security systems. "There's got to be some kind of override…something that stops the system from just opening up on your own people. Does this Operative know this override? Can they be remotely shut down or something?"
«Plot» Mirage says, "Unfortunately." the jay responds, brushing a hand through her hair, "Ares CFS disabled the FOF tags on the security system. There is no way to disable them electronically as they have been put into a sort of 'shoot first and ask questions later' mode, and are completely unresponsive from anywhere but the mainframe room, as far as we are able to tell." she adds, airquotes and all."
Flint seems a bit shocked by the price, but composes himself fairly quickly. "I think the transport fee is a tad high, but I can't really argue it that much." He glances at the other runners for a moment. "I'm in, but I'd like to negotiate some things before hand. Some weaponry and ammo to counteract the security measures."
«Auto-Judge[]» Flint (#11485) rolls Security Systems for "What would I know about systems like this and how to counteract them!":

Kalavati tilts her head downward very slightly as she shifts her eyes to the side, locking her attention onto the aide for a moment as if she were possibly contemplating the pay before she slowly begins to shake her head for some reason or another as if she were possibly thinking about her own answer before she lets out a rather small, "I…" as if she were possibly afraid to speak up about the situation. She shifts her attention back toward the Jay as she continues to shake her head; her feet moving to scoot back away from the table slightly before she simply tells the woman, "Think I might jus' be a li'l bit over m'head with this one, yeah…" as if she were possibly declining the job, further solidified as she tells the woman, "Sorry t'waste your time an' shit, but… Imma have t'turn you down on this one, yeah." She moves her hands together, moving one of them to pull the optical chip from her pocket secretary, lifting it up infront of herself as she moves it forward, placing it back down onto the table rather slowly.

«OOC» Hunni says, "me neither"
Viper frowns a bit as she hears the price. That's alot of money to escort someone in, those security measures must be top notch… Though getting a ride from them would cost 50k, rather steep… "When does this job need to be done?" She blinks a bit and looks over at Kalavati as she stands up as if to leave. Well, probably made the job that much more difficult.
«Plot» Mirage says, "I am sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, I must ask you to leave the chip reading device you used with my aid, we've had recent dealings with runners whom turned down jobs and turned out to be stealing information. You understand, cost of doing business and all that." the johnson says to Kala, putting a hand out in front of Viper as if to put the conversation on hold a moment. "You can feel free to delete any information you'd like off the pocsec first, but we cannot allow you to leave with it." the aid says, putting his hand out to kala."
Flint looks at Kala a moment, but then turns away, he needs the money and is willing to take the risks if he can get a deal. He waits for her to depart after handing over her pocsec.
Kalavati remains silent for a moment as she very slowly pushes herself to stand up from her seat; her hand continuing to grip her pocket secretary as she simply holds it down at her side; her head turning to stare toward the Aide again as a small frown forms onto her face as he speaks to her. "Thing was sort of expensive…" she very quietly protests, possibly speaking to herself, considering the volume of her words before she shifts her eyes to look the man up and down for a very quick moment, possibly planning something drastic, though she doesn't really seem to act on it as she plainly lifts her hand up, holding the pocket secretary out toward the man. "I understand what you're gettin' at, yeah." she says, speaking softly toward the aide before she adds, "Got nothin' t'hide, yeah. No -real- information on it, but… Can we jus' wipe it completely t'make you feel real comfortable an' shit so I can be on m'way? Or do y'have t'jus' like, flat-out take it?"
«Plot» Mirage says, "Unfortunately, madam, we must take the device. I'm sure someone of your calibur won't find it too much a problem to get another." the large man responds."
Hunni whinces a little at Kala being told she's going to lose her poc-sec. Good thing Hunni's agreeing to the job at this point. Those things are expensive as all hell.
Viper sits back in her seat as she watches the loss of the poc-sec unfold. Bit expensive, but at least they're easy to come by. Besides, it could have been far worse. Kalavati could have had a chip reader installed in her head and used that.
Kalavati exhales audibly through her nose, quite obviously upset by the situation, though seeming to accept it as she tells the man, "I understand." in a quiet manner, lowering her hand down a bit as she simply places it down onto the table just beside the chip that she had planted onto it. She turns her head to the side for a moment as she pulls her free hands back toward herself, shoving them down into her pockets before plainly lifting up a single cigarette, as well as a plain, tiny disposable red lighter from them. She pulls the cigarette back toward her mouth, placing it between her lips as she lifts her other hand up to light the end of it, letting out a rather small, "Good luck in th'operation, yeah." toward the group as she takes her time to light her cigarette before simply turning herself around to head toward the door of the conference room. She lowers her hand down, dropping her lighter back into her pocket as she pulls her other hand back to hold her cigarette in place, taking a long drag of it as she begins to leave.
Kalavati dropped Silver Pocket Secretary.
Silver Pocket Secretary has left.
Viper glances down at the poc-sec as its put down. Silver casing, nice. Pity she'll not see it again. "Tough break, omae, good luck out there." Here's hoping Kalavati wasn't just paranoid, but from the looks of it, the three of them might be able to handle a good bit of whatever the installation might throw at them. Hopefully.
Hunni looks to Flint then to the woman running the opperation and frowns a little in thought. "If need be I can bring in someone to fill the empty spot…" she says slowly, nodding her fairwell to Kalavati before looking to their Ms. J. "If you found me you probably already know about her…"
Flint nods slightly to Kala, then waits for her to depart, after she is out to the door. He looks to the Jay, about to speak, but Hunni speaks first, so he waits to hear that answer.
«<Plot» Mirage says, "The johnson nods to Hunni. "If you have someone you'd preffer to work with, go ahead and give them a call. Saves us the bother.""
Flint looks to the Jay. "What would be the likelyhood of some equipment aquisition before the assignment? I'm poorly equipped currently to deal with security measures."
Hunni nods, but she's obviously not making any calls in this room just yet.
«Plot» Mirage says, "We may be able to work something out. What did you have in mind?" the Aid asks, apparently the businessman in the group."
Flint looks to the aid "Nothing to difficult, a couple browning ultra powers, perhaps 60 rounds of anti vehicular ammuntion, and ten chaff grenades. Thats the only thing I can think of to deal with automated security turrets which should be the most threatening measure. Ohh, and resperators for the team, in case of gas security measures."

«STAFF» Mirage says, "Who did you have in mind?"
«STAFF» Mirage says, "For the 4th?"
Flint nods "Thank you." He glances at the other runners, then goes quiet for now, not sure what else to do or ask.
Viper frowns a bit and thinks for a moment. "Any chance I can get some APDS ammo or AV rounds for my pistol? Sounds like we might need it if we're going up against turrents…"

«Plot» Mirage says, "I think you can share the ammo between the two of you." the tall dark man in the well cut suite replies."
Hunni shrugs. Win some lose some. "A contact of mine, my spotter." Hunni says with a shrug. If they need anymore information she'll give it over.
«STAFF» Mirage says, "So ya'll are at the airport, I think, unless there was some other business you had with the jay?"
«Plot» Mirage says, "So you meet back at Shooter World's parking lot, where several black SUV's are waiting… They take you to the airport. The jay's Aid is there, and he explains that the SIN checks have actually been taken care of. As a result, it no longer really matters whom sits where… Shortly after, you're at the designated hanger."
«STAFF» Mirage says, "Up to you guys if you'd like to skip poses from here and get to the landing at the canyon in PCC territory."
«STAFF» Mirage says, "And viper's opinion doesn't matter!"
«STAFF» Mirage skips!
«Plot» Mirage says, "The chopper ride to PCC territory is short, with a drive by customs check involving a few Pueblo Security Officers driving past the choppers in a jeep while smoking cigarettes. One can only imagine the strings pulled to make that happen. From there, the choppers take a long while making their way towards the rockies… The wind picks up as they approach the canyon, and just as you start to see the Bunker's parking lot, the choppers circle around the backside the canyon and land at a small air field, some 2 kilometers away from the target."
«Plot» Mirage says, "The tech guy gets out of the cargo chopper, grabbing an average size backpack and a canteen. He ducks as he moves away from the choppers, and seems to wait for the group to gather at the road. No other vehicles seem to be here, nor are there any other personel."
Flint grins as he looks out the window, enjoying the ride. "Ahh damn, I'm going to have to get back into jumping, nothing like that thrill." He settles down after the landing, and when it is time to exit the chopper he does so, then moves to wait to collect his gear.
Being much happier for her rifle in her hands Hunni's very quick to get out of the chopper and try to collect her weaponry. After all if her Remington has been damaged in the flight over here heads will roll…or she'll curl up and cry. Either/or.
"Jus' like th'old days…" Wolf mumbles, stretching her arms and legs as she steps out of her helicopter. She lingers near the cargo bird, retreiving her gear before approaching the tech, giving him a loose two-finger salute off the temple.
Viper steps out of the chopper at long last, a slight sigh of relief to be on solid ground again. She never was a fan of flying… She walks over to the other chopper herself and gets her own weaponry and toys, glancing over at the others as she gears up. "Think things will go smoothly?"
«STAFF» Mirage says, "Everyone prove their strength! Then tell me what all you're bringing on the 2 kilo hike."
Flint outfits himself for battle, that being he has his nighthawks at his waist, the new ultra powers under his arms. 40 rounds of the AV ammo for his brownings, and 20 goes to Viper. Then he grabs a few of the chaff grenades, 4 to be exact, hoping the rest of the team will carry a few too. He doesnt have a tactical vest to carry much more and his pockets are full. He shrugs at Viper "Probably not, why else hire people you don't care if they die."

«Plot» Mirage says, "The tech guy explains that we have a 45 minute walk to the base. He suggests that he doesn't want any names, and point to each of you in turn he calls Hunni Alpha, Boomstick Beta, Viper Gamma, Flint Delta. He says to call him "Tech". He goes on to say he'll explain the operation on the walk over, and starts to head down the road, gesturing for you all to keep up."
Wolf hooks her LAW tube on the inside of her jacket, the shotgun she cradles in her arms though. "Beta, huh?" she shrugs, "Better'n… wot was that one time, Alpha? Weren' you 'Puss' an' I was 'Boots?' The redhead chuckles, but goes silent as she falls into step with Tech, so she can listen to the briefing.
Flint moves ahead, moving up to take point, just slightly ahead of the tech in case anything leaps out of the bushes. He listens to the techs speech, mainly concerned with threats at the moment, but trying to pay attention.
Commlink-Alpha> Hunni tests her radio. "Alpha, radio check"
Viper takes up the rear, following everone else as she listens. She doesn't make any objections to being called Gamma, so just keeps moving, looking over to the tech to listen to what he has to say.
Commlink-Viper> Viper says, "Check Alpha."
Commlink-Wolf> Boomstick says, "Beta 'ere. Check, Alpha."
Hunni shrugs. "Better then 'Dish' and 'Spoon'," Hunni says lightly and moves somewhere in the middle, taking her callsign with a shrug and making a point to scan the treelines for anything, security systems or otherwise.
Flint waves a hand. "I seem to lack one of those, so you all just make sure we don't split up and we shouldnt need the radios right?"

«Plot» Mirage says, "You four seem to take little effort making the trip, while Tech has to stop every 5 minutes for a breather and a drink of water. Such is life, and tech dudes aren't known for their athletics. It's about mid-day, and what would take 45 minutes seems to take over an hour. Along the way, he explains that satellite imagery suggests the facility is without power. This is actually both advantageous and annoying, as it means no lights and minimal security. The blast doors and mag locks should be disabled, so they're just four tons of steel needing shoved out of the way. The problem is that the mainframe will not allow access without power. Some techno crap ensues on why, that goes way over your heads. This means, the team must split into two groups. Alpha and Gamma will asist Tech in gaining entry to the mainframe room. Beta and Delta will gain access to the main breaker room, where they should be able to restore power to the base. When the signal is given, Beta and Delta will restore power to the base, while Alpha and Gamma will make a dash for the mainframe room while the system boots up. From the mainframe room, Tech should be able to disarm the defenses. Any questions?"
Flint nods as he listens. "Its your life at risk, if you think splitting up and running for it is the best option, thats what we do. I thought the paper trail said there might be more than security systems here…if thats the case, your running a risk against whatever that might be."
Wolf looks at Delta, "Look at it this way, you ain' got a radio, I do. We'll be able ta keep track of 'em, yeah?" Beta grins, then shakes her head, "…if'n we ain' got lights, then… well…" she fishes her little IR Flashlight out of one of her pouches. "…you got thermo, D?" she looks to Flint, curious. "…any idea wot's still inside 'sides wonky security?"
«Plot» Mirage says, " "I believe that's what we're here to find out, yes?" Tech responds."
Viper glances over at Delta and chuckles softly. "Well, me and Alpha will make sure Tech doesn't get banged up to bad. Of course hopefully /we/ won't get hit that bad either." She does raise an eyebrow about something oether then security systems possibly in there. "What do you think is waiting for us in there?"
Hunni nods in agreement and frowns, looking to Boomstick and then viper. "I don't know crap about electronic mainframe stuff and I work better away from Narrow hallways…I'm going to guess that the mainframe has the worst defences and I didn't bring any chaff grenades…"
Flint shrugs "Sight is not an issue for me, and yes, I do see the infrared. As for whats inside, well, paracritter research is always a hoot."
On the walk over just before they arrive Hunni taps Flint on the shoulder and murmers something to him. "Hey…might be an idea for you and Gamma to swap out a grenade or two"
Flint nods, and takes out two of his grenades to pass them along to Gamma, he will keep two on him.
Viper glances over and takes the offered chaff grenades and offers Delta two of her flash grenades in exchange.
«Plot» Mirage says, "At the base is a small paved parking lot, perhaps having room for ten vehicles. A guard shack sits empty, positioned with a commanding view of the canyon. The cavelike entrance to the bunker waits, relatively dark and mysterious. Only emergency lighting and what minor sunlight that gets in shows the way. Tech stops at the mouth for a moment."
«Plot» Hunni says, "Anything worth seeing from the guard shack?"
«STAFF» Mirage says, "You going in the guard shack?"
Hunni taps Boomstick on the shoulder and gestures to the guard shack before looking to the others and pointing the building out. "Might be worth checking there's nothing waiting behind us if we have to run the hell out of here…"
Flint gestures to the guard shack. "Let me take a look in there, never know if anything was dropped in the evacuation." He heads over to the shack, starting to look inside…careful.
Viper glances over at the other two and stops, waiting for them to finish their inspection. For her part, she's looking around the large looking entrance, her mind wondering about what sort of things might be waiting for them inside. In the dark at that, spooky.
Wolf's got nothing to offer, she just nods at Flint, watching him go check out the shack. The redhead lingers near Hunni, though, looking towards the door, still playing with her little flashlight. She twirls it over and over in her hand, "…nothin' like ashes 'n ghosts waitin' for ya in a place like this, huh?"
«Plot» Mirage says, "Inside the guard shack, you can see several monitors, likely viewing areas outside the shack's line of sight. A pair of binoculars (1 binocular=a pair), very nice with all the fixings, sits on the table. Nothing seems out of the ordinary…"
«STAFF» Mirage says, "Perception check if you're in the guard shack."
Flint goes inside to get the binoculars, could be nice to have. He still waits for crap to leap out of him, just cause thats how all the trids do it.

«Plot» Mirage says, "A maglocked panel is on the wall, blending in with the wall around it rather nicely."
«STAFF» Mirage says, "Flint finds it."
Flint points and calls out. "Got a lockbox here in the wall, might want to check it out for intel, anyone got a set of tools to open it?"
Hunni steps in, Rifle held up at just in case before sticking her head out to repeat the message. "Anyone able to crack a lockbox?"
"I can crack it," Wolf volunteers, "…if'n nobody's got a more subtle way ta break into it…" She pockets her flashlight, instead trading it for a doorbuster shotgun shell, tossing it up and down in her hand. Her eyes look to Viper, since the shotgun-wielding redhead doesn't have any tools aside from, well, the boomstick variety.
Viper glances over and starts to move over to the guard shack. "I can take a crack at it you if you want." Though when Beta volunteers, she glances over and shrugs. "Might want to save that for something nasty, like the securty systems? Still, if I can't get it open…"
Flint snorts "As far as we know its a burn box, I'd rather have someone inspect it first. Blowing things open is a last resort."
«Plot» Hunni will check the moniters while people play with the lockbox

"She got the tools, then let 'er at it," Wolf nods at Viper. She smirks at Gamma and Delta, though, tossing the shell up and down. "Ceramic composite, s'good for bustin' locks 'n hinges… don' think it'll slag anythin' inside, but if we got a more subtle solution.."
«Plot» Mirage says, " "It's likely just a weapons cache. You already have all the weapons you need, yes? We should keep moving." Tech says, somewhat annoyed by the 'loot everything' idea the runners seem to be having."
Flint looks at the tech. "Why hide weapons out here? I fail to see the point. Guards can sit around all day with all the guns they want and no one around here should care, its not like the locals are wandering in."
Hunni 's still looking at the moniters. She sees some flowers. Pretty.
«Plot» Mirage says, "The monitors give a great view of everything in the canyon. Nothing seems to be going on, and all of them flash "Low batteries"…"
«Plot» Mirage says, " "You really think Ares makes special guard shacks just for this? These are standard, friend. Same guard shack here as in Detroit, as in Denver. I bet it the same box of 3 Ares Alphas, 4 concussion grenades, and 12 magazines standard assault rifle ammo all the others have, too." The tech says, rather annoyed."
«STAFF» Mirage says, "Yes."
Viper glances over at the tech and then back at the others before looking back at the box. "Well, sounds about right from the size of the box. Might as well get moving then unless someone is really hurting for an assault rifle." She chuckles and steps away, looking back over at the Tech. "Sorry for the delay, omae."
"Extra grenades ain' never done noone wrong, but, we do 'ave work t'do…" Wolf shrugs, pocketing her shell and taking up her flashlight again. Then she starts heading towards the doors, leaning her shotgun up against her shoulder.
Flint shrugs "Alright, lets move on then." He starts off to join the others and head back towards the enterance.
Hunni follows along behind the others, never really being a fan for the assault rifle way. Be a bit hard to carry one without dropping something else anyway. Now about this enterance…
«Plot» Mirage says, "Back at the bunker entrence, Tech explains that there should be a pair of auto-turrets set up in front of a blast door. With any luck they won't have power, but if they do, they'll need to be taken out before we can go any further."
«Game» Backup to offline storage commencing. Game may freeze for a bit…
Flint draws the two brownings he got for the mission, takes a moment to check the action, and then nods. "Alright, lets see what happens then."
Viper nods softly at that and unslings her SMG, getting it ready as well. "Here's hoping that they're not active, else this is going to get bad quick."
Wolf checks her shotgun, "…slugs 'ere. We gotta drag this thing open first, though?" She jerks her thumb at the entrance, "Or we waitin' fer th'blast door ta get th'tow hooks…" she cracks her neck with a quick jerk of her gloved hand.
Hunni stays a little further back, where her rifle will work best and watches through her scope. Here's hoping ExEx beats auto-turret!
«Plot» Mirage says, "The tunnel makes a sharp 90 degree turn… Tech thinks the door should be around that turn, about 20 meters down the tunnel from there."
Flint makes his way ahead, then pauses before the tunnel turns. He looks back to the others and waits for them to approach. "Alright, I'll step out, see if I can spot the turrets, if they open fire, I simply duck back around the corner and we use a chaff grenade."
Hunni 's unable to simply snipe out the turrets from further away thanks to that turn. Such is life. She will however peer down the tunnel to make sure it's otherwise empty. If so she'll move up the rear of the group.
"Tell me if ya need a light, Delta," Wolf follows behind Flint. "…if they're up then there may be a bigger problem, yeh?" the short redhead offers, shrugging her shoulders but keeping enough distance from that corner so Flint's got a fallback.
Viper simply gives Flint/Delta a nod and stays back, glancing over her shoulder down the path they had just taken. "Hope everyone can see if the dark just fine."
«STAFF» Mirage says, "Who's popping out first?"
Flint sighs, and nods. "Here goes nothing…"

Whether Flint's standing there deliberating or running strategies over in his head, Boomstick just pushes past him. "…we ain' gonna get paid if we just stand 'ere…" she mumbles. The redhead doesn't so much 'jump out' as she does peek her head around the corner. She shifts her sight to infrared and shines her IR light, seeing if she can discern whether or not the turrets are active, poised to yank her fool-ass back should there be a sign of hostility.
«Plot» Mirage says, "As luck would have it, the turrets click to life! Spinning angrily at boomstick. But not firing. They track Boomstick's motions, but appaer to not be feeding ammo for unknown reasons. Perhaps they're dry?"
Flint winces as he hears the miniguns spin to life. "Well, either they are warming up, or they are out of ammo….care to jump out again?" Apparently he is a tad more cautious than the woman.
Hunni too winces as Boomstick sticks her head out, a 50% chance that she'd loose it…but she's fine and the guns don't seem to be sending rounds yet. Odd.
«OOC» Hunni says, "Any chance of rolling security systems to see if we can tell the difference between dry-clicking and warming up?"
Viper tenses as she hears that whirring noise as well. Always a terrible sound to hear when you're somewhere you're not supposed to be. "Well, this job is certainly getting alot more interesting." Dangerous, but interesting.
«STAFF» Mirage says, "Security Systems?"
«STAFF» Mirage says, "Nah."
Boomstick yanks her head back, blinking a bit. "Huh, that don' sound right…" she mumbles. She smirks at Flint, "…nah, s'your turn I think…" she chuckles at Delta, patting his shoulder. "Don' make sense they'd leave 'em unloaded, though…"
Flint reaches out and grabs Boomsticks arm. "Alright, lets do this….you step out, I jerk you back, we see if guns fire, fair enough?"
Flint says "Your smaller"
«Plot» Mirage says, "Seconds go by, and the chainguns keep whirring, a slightly different whir, but whirring all the same."
Hunni frowns a little as Flint grabs Boomstick, but unless he tries to push her out against her will she'll stay silent. If he does however she'll place her rifle barrel casually against his back. "teamwork here guys…"
"Better hope yer quick or I'm hauntin' yer ass," Wolf mumbles, letting Flint take her arm. She takes a breath, listening to the whirr, before stepping out again, trusting her teammate enough to not let her get turned into swiss cheese.
«OOC» Flint says, "So, athletics check or something, strength test to jerk her back fast?"

Flint is fast, very very fast actually, its pretty much his only advantage magically besides his sight. As soon as wolf steps out, he jerks her arm back, moving his body as well to use his weight to pull her.
«Plot» Mirage says, "The turrets whir the other whir, the more angry whir. Boomstick gets the idea that if they were going to shoot her, she'd be dead already. Still, she makes it back, the turrets tracking her the whole way, as Flint pulls her back in."

«Auto-Judge[]» Hunni (#12074) rolls Intelligence for "Vision Mag 3, Thermographic and Flare comp. I spy with my cyber eyes…":

Flint lets go of Boomsticks arm, then shakes his head. "Question one, where did all that ammo go? I don't see signs of anything, unless the drone cleaners have been working and the garbage area is full of bodies." He too steps out, then starts for the blast door.
Viper hesitates for a moment as it seems everyone is intent on walking out. She sighs and lowers her SMG, readying a chaff grenade as she moves around the corner. Hopefully she won't need to use the grenade, or if she needs to, hopefully she'll get the chance.
«Plot» Mirage says, "Rounding the corner, you notice near the blast door is a large splat of blood. It trails off behind a small group of crates not 2 meters away, still within sight of the turrets, though obscured from sight from the direction of the entryway at which the party stands."
Wolf grumbles, "…drone cleaners huh? An' a garbage area fulla bodies really don' sound good…" She looks at the door, the crates, the turrets. "We uh, can we turn 'em off? That buzzin's really messin' with m'ead…"
«STAFF» Mirage says, "A tad, yes."
«Plot» Mirage says, "The turrets whir angrily, passing their imaginary bullets from person to person."
Flint looks at his pistol. "I need to test a theory anyhow." He raises his gun, takes aim, and fires a shot into the turret….cause knowing his luck, he did not get AV ammo.
«STAFF» Mirage says, "Roll it."
«Auto-Judge[]» Flint (#11485) rolls Pistols vs TN 2 for "Taking 1 aim action, Vision mag plus Laser sight.":

Hunni herself is a little bit worried about the lack of bodies, but she'll turn around to watch Flint take his shot at the turret.
«STAFF» Mirage says, "You hit the turret pretty solid, but it seems to not really care too much. The whirring doesn't really change."
«Plot» Mirage says, "You hit the turret pretty solid, but it seems to not really care too much. The whirring doesn't particularly change."
Viper puts the chaff grenade away and lifts her SMG again. She's a bit curious about that blood stain, so moves to look around the crates, curious to see if a body still remains.
Flint frowns "Thats not good….this may not be the right kind of ammo, last time I trust a Jay to get me anything specific." He holsters his pistols then looks around. "Should this blast door have a manual release in event of loss of power? Though…" he points at the turret "That has power."
Well it seems they got short-changed on the special ammo. Ain't that a bugger? Hunni hadn't been given any, but if they're going to be facing more of these turrets she needs to know how they measure up and so she'll hoist her rifle and fire a single round at the -other- turret. If none of them can hurt them this is going to suck.
«Plot» Mirage says, "Behind the bullet chewed crates appears to be.. Just more blood. No body or fleshy bits. The turrets, still whiring about 20 meters away, seeming to be just as angry as ever."
«STAFF» Mirage says, "What kinda rifle?"
«STAFF» Mirage lets you roll it…
«Auto-Judge[]» Hunni (#12074) rolls Rifles + 2 vs TN 2 for "How's my Ammo?":
1 1 1 2 2 3 4 4 = 5 Successes
Wolf's just staring at the turrets, looking a little paranoid. She moves closer to them, and the blast doors, but doesn't get within arm's reach. "I didn' bring but one LAW, I ain' wastin' it on onna these… might need it fer something bigger… or… y'know.. a door.." she mumbles.
«Auto-Judge[]» Hunni (#12074) uses 1 of item 2: Rifle ExEx from Ammo (#12349).
«Plot» Mirage says, "Your rifle round deflects off the side of the turret. The turret moves off target from the impact for a moment, but continues whirring fiercely towards the party."
Hunni lowers her rifle and curses. Remembering how she'd asked for armor piercing rounds or a barrett. "Don't need that kinda firepower my ass…don't they even look at their own specs?"
Flint grunts "Well….I guess I'm the turret killer, and these things are just heavily armored. Also, thinking optimisticly here, the big guns are at the front door. Inside, I doubt they have this level of firepower everywhere. Now, lets get this door open." He moves forward to check the blast door.
Viper glances over at the others and finally moves away from the crates. "Well, let's hope they don't have that much firepower everywhere, or we're fragged. We got lucky that they shot the hell out of… whatever this stain used to be, maybe some critter looking for a new home."
«Plot» Mirage says, "Nearing the turrets, it becomes impossible to not notice the ammo feeds having been severed from behind. The turrets aren't empty: Someone disabled them. A few rounds seem scattered on the floor, all assault rifle calibur."
"Lil' overkill for some stray dog," Wolf mutters, "…an' don' these things pack like a thousan' rounds?" She moves closer, then blinks, "…schemin' that sabotage?" the redhead peeks at the disabled ammunition feeds. Then she sniffs at the air, "…anyone smell fish?" she scratches at her jaw.
Viper glances over to what Beta is talking about and grumbles, possibly muttering a few curses. "Great, we're not the first ones here… Woudln't make sense for them to frag their own defenses on the way out…"
Hunni nods in agreement and looks to the weapon casings, or rather the fact that they're actually there at all. "Well they're not running caseless, so these could have been their own guys firing…or another crew entirely… It just raises more questions."
Flint nods "Evactuation, if it came after the system was fried, they woulda disabled it before they escaped."
Hunni tilts her head to the side. "If people had evac'd out safely we wouldn't be here trying to find out what the hell happened…"
"I'd like ta think I got a good bs detector, after what've been through.. an' this smells.." Wolf wrinkles her nose, glancing at Tech. "…there uh, you sure there ain' more t'this? Or you a mushroom too?" she tips her head at their 'escort.' "Cuz y'know, kept in th'dark 'n fed drek. Mushroom," the redhead nods.
Flint shakes his head "Remember, we aren't here because of Ares directly, we are here because of a subsidiary company wants to know what really went on. I think some of them got out of here, they just ain't telling anyone else what really happened."
Hunni looks a little closer then looks to the turrets again. Them firing the unspent rounds that currently litter the floor makes a bit more sense…but it doesn't answer the question of who cut the ammo feeds.
«Plot» Mirage says, "The blast door seems to be left ajar, with some cosmetic damage showing it was forced open after a manual release of the locking mechanisms from the inside. A prybar lays just inside the building, likely having been dropped as soon as the door was open wide enough to pass through."
Flint makes sure his pistols are holstered, then reaches down to pick up the prybar. "This might be handy." He carefully listens at the door, then goes through and readies for more trouble.
Wolf eyes the tech, her inquiries gone unanswered, though there's a clear sign of concern, or maybe paranoia, on the redhead's features. "Right…" she mumbles, putting her flashlight in her mouth and taking her shotgun up into both hands, following Flint through next.
Viper glances around before heading for the door herself, her trusty TMP still at the ready. She's keeping her breathing even, though doesn't seem to worried like Beta is. Johnsons screw runners everyday, so more then likely the same applies here. Just have to hope its not a setup and things will hopefully be fine.
Open door means someone or something did get in or out, but what or who is anyone's guess. with her rifle on it's sling she puts it behind her and reaches for her pistols, drawing the pair of Predator III's out smoothly from their hidden quickdraw holsters.
«Plot» Mirage says, "On the other side of the blast door, is a small room with a set of glass sliding doors, each half the size of the blast door, likely to be used as a sort of airlock. One of the doors seems to be on the fritz, constantly closing halfway, hitting something, and opening back up again, every few seconds."

Viper frowns as she comes in and looks around. "You can say that again, chummer… something certainly isn't right." She looks back over at the Tech, mainly to see his reaction to all of this before looking back. "Well, guess we'll see what it was that caused them to shut the place down soon…"

«Auto-Judge[]» Viper (#11939) rolls Intelligence for "Following peer pressure!":

«Plot» Mirage says, "The room beyond the entry way is… A loading dock. Joy. Crates all around, in orderly fashion, it seems this base was built more for usability and less for looks. Though the floor is obviously plascrete, the walls are unfinished bedrock in most places, with I-Beams reinforcing it. Turrets are mounted on walls.. But they aren't moving. The lack of power in the area has only the backup floods on, and apparently even the security system is down. Or at least, so it appears."
«STAFF» Mirage says, "Same."
Flint shakes his head "With this amount of hardware, we need to get as close as we can to the mainframe before we turn on the power. Otherwise no one getting anywhere."
Hunni chews her bottom lip. "I'm torn between wondering if we can use the turrets…or if it's better to follow the example and cut the feeds to these as well…" she murmers before looking to techie man. "I don't suppose you'd have a way of making them -not- shoot us?"
Viper frowns as she spots the turrents, starting to mentally count them. "Wonder what they needed that much automated security on the inside for. Place is built to make it near impossible to get in as it is, who'd they think would come cause trouble?"
"Must be somethin' real important 'ere…" Wolf speaks out of the corner of her mouth, freeing a hand so she can spit her flashlight out and stuff it in her pocket. The backup lighting should suffice, for the moment. "…crates 'n drek… we wanna see wot's in onna these? You got th'prybar, Delta.." she nods to Flint. "Or we rollin' s'fast as we can ta security?"
«STAFF» Mirage says, "Well, they aren't motion tracking like the other ones."
«STAFF» Mirage says, "Or whirring angrily."

«Plot» Boomstick says, "As per Hunni's pose in the log."
«Plot» Mirage says, "The tech responds, "To do any of that, I'd need to be in the mainframe room, which is the goal of this opperatoin to start with. As for disabling the turrets.. It's not a terrible plan, unless we end up needing them for some reason once we get the place talking to us again.""
Viper glances over all the turrents, which thankfully don't seem active. "Is it just me, or is it really weird they have this much firepower on the /inside/ where all the people would be working? One of two on the entrance I could see, but this is a little overkill…"
Flint nods slowly. "Somethings not right here, its far too much firepower." He shifts the prybar in his hand, looking around. "Lets just get a move on, hopefully the rest of the internal security is down."
"Aye, seems a lil' much… an' we still 'aven' figgered out whether'r not these're ta keep somethin' outside or inside…" Boomstick frowns, keeping her shotgun steadied against her shoulder. "If'n we're not errin', then, we keep 'em live 'n 'ope ya can make 'em friendly when we pop th'seal, yeh?" she grins at the tech.
Hunni nods in agreement and looks between the others for opinions on the turrets, but if noone wants to disable them she'll leave them be for the moment.
«Plot» Mirage says, "Further towards the back of the loading bay is another vault door. This one seems large enough to drive a forklift through, though not quite as large as the main front door. It also seems to have the markings of being pried open, just as the main door did. The maglock here seems to have been taken apart and disabled.. and the room beyond only has emergency lighting, as well."
Flint holds his prybar in his left hand, and keeps his right free to draw a pistol if necessary. He looks into the room, and then steps inside if its all clear. He is cautious, expecting the worst to happen of course.
Viper plays rearguard for a moment, keeping her TMP at the ready. Never know if something might try to sneak up on them, like the drones that this place was thought to have dabbled ing.

«Plot-Page» (To: Flint and Boomstick) Mirage says, " It's a little eirie in here. Something's a bit off. Other than that, you don't notice anything out of the ordinary."
"You uh, get that kinna feelin' somethin' ain' right?" Wolf mumbles, keeping her flashlight in the hand she's got on her shotgun's pump, shining the IR beam around some with the sweep of the barrel. "I mean, more un-right than usual…" she moves near Flint, keeping her corridor-sweeper at the ready.
Flint frowns "Its time like these, I wish I could see that magical crap, I get the feeling this is probably something like that. Then again, maybe I'm just paranoid." He scans the room, then starts to move further in, looking for the next exit.
Viper glances over her shoulder at the others before giving one last look behind them and then moves on into the next room as well. "We're probably just jumping at shadows, making everything out to be worse than it is. Maybe they were just really security concious and paranoid."
Hunori nods, keeping her pistols raised as they move room to room. "And then some…" she murmers at Wolf's question. Looking to techie man she frowns a little. "So how far to this mainframe?"
«Plot» Mirage says, "This new area is large and open, with a kitchen, seating arrangements, several large trideo screens, an office… And more sentry turrets on the walls. Hallways lead left and right from the back of the room, and on the center of the far wall is a large elevator, probably capable of holding freight."
"S'possible… this is Ares we're goin' on about…" Wolf says softly, looking around the new room. "Still, lotta damn turrets fer… wot's this, a lounge?" Her brows lift, and she moves slowly deeper, towards the elevator. "Doubt this is workin' but it might be worth a peek on th'way out… thoughts?" she looks over her shoulder.
Flint shakes his head. "We stick to the mission, no side trips, not our job to investigate. Lets get the data from the mainframe and get out." He looks around some more. "Which way next then?"
Hunni frowns a little as a thought occurs to her. "Is there going to be this kind of firepower in the mainframe room or is it a clean room? I mean it's going to be hard for you to turn them off if you're being shot at.
"I meant a secondary option fer gettin' outta 'ere, ya git…" Wolf mutters in Flint's direction. "Ain' a goddamn tourist, jus' makin' sure we got options 'case this goes all pear-shaped…"
Flint looks at Boomstick, and rolls his eyes, no point arguing.
Viper frowns a bit at Boomstick, wondering where she thinks that elevator would go. "Well, the quickest way out is generally best, and that'd be the one we know of. Assuming it even works anymore…" She continues watching their back. "Pretty quiet in here so far though…"
«Plot» Mirage says, "The tech heads towards the back of the room. "Actually, we gotta get these doors open and head up the shaft a few hundred feet to get to the mainframes environment." Then, pointing to the righthand cooridoor, he says "The breaker rooms should be down that way. Just follow the conduits on the cielings, should lead you to a caged off room. Beta and Delta, keep in radio contact.""
Long distance to Viper: Flint was going to say that, but figured not to argue :)
«Plot» Mirage says, "Responding to Hunni, the tech says "Well, I guess we'll see when we get there, scan?""
Flint nods to the tech, then moves over twards the door he directed. He waits just at the righthand cooridor for Beta to follow him.
Commlink-Alpha> Hunni says, "On the off chance the security tries to eat us, be ready to shut it down again…"
Wolf moves to Flint's side, still holding her light, though she gives a little two-fingered salute to the tech, and the pair that constitutes Gamma and Alpha. "Ya take care, shug," she nods to Hunni, then taps her earpiece for the comm as she looks to the tech. "We'll be able ta whistle at ya," the redhead nods, then taps Flint on the shoulder as she moves to his side, once more settling her shotgun. "We're gonna be best friends, Delta. Let's do wot we can, yeh? Got yer back."
Flint looks at Wolf for a moment, then simply nods. "Yea." He says, then starts down the cooridor, still gripping the prybar in his offhand. He looks up, trying to use the power lines as a guide.
Commlink-Viper> Viper says, "Good luck, you two."

Viper sighs and glances around the room again, studying the lounge a bit. "Well, other then tons of turrents everywhere, so far so good…"
Commlink-Wolf> Boomstick says, "Jus' be sure ya ain't sittin' under a gun when we pop the cork."
Hunni nods in agreement. "It might be worth cutting any of the turrents around us before we make a run for the mainframe. Anything not shooting at use is a plus."
«Plot» Mirage says, "After about 20 minutes of walking down this cooridoor, nothing unusual going on, you come to security door. The conduits seem to go above the door, further down the tunnel you imagine. The door itself is maglocked… And seems to be still operational."
Flint examines the door a minute. "Well, I lack any tools, and I barely know the basics about this…soo." He sidesteps, and gestures to Boomstick. "You said you had some shells for this?"
"If bustin' th'lock'll get us in, yeah I got shells for it… hinge-poppin' knob-bashin' shells…" Wolf lowers her shotgun. "Could snap it open, or lock it up good…" she fishes one of her special shells from a hip pouch. "Worst comes t'worst, we're locked out… y'want me to try an' open 'er up then?"
Flint nods "Give it a shot, I don't have a quiet way to get in, and I doubt I can kick it down." He steps back a bit, giving boomstick some room.
«Plot» Boomstick says, "SPAS-22; 10S; SA"
«Plot» Mirage says, "You fire at the door, but to no avail, it seems to be made out of increadibly strong materials."
Commlink-Wolf> Boomstick says, "Takin' a shot on a door 'ere, don' worry if ya hear somethin' loud comin' down from our way."
«OOC» Boomstick poses it, then.
«Plot» Mirage says, "There seems to be no response on the comms. No roger, no nothing."
"Figger th'lectronic specialist is back wit th'others…" Wolf mumbles, speaking of good old Gamma. Er. Viper. She opens the breach, pumps a slug out and racks in the shock lock before aiming it at the locking mechanism. Careful aim is taken, and she fires the disintegrating door-buster. Fortunately, it doesn't have anything to bounce back, unfortunately, it seems to be harmless. She recovers her slug and mumbles, "…figgers we ain' got codes or.. give yer prybar a shot. Mebbe we oughta get Gamma down 'ere, long walk as it aws."
Flint nods "Call in Gamma, I'll see if the prybar can make any headway." He goes up to the door, checking area around where he thinks the lock is to squeeze it in and give it a go.
«OOC» Flint says, "Ok, prybaring the door open."
«STAFF» Mirage lets you roll athletics
«Auto-Judge[]» Flint (#11485) rolls Athletics for "Grrr, grunt, groan, ugh!!!":
3 4 5 11
Commlink-Wolf> Boomstick says, "Oi. Alpha. C'mon, come in…"
«Plot» Mirage says, "No dice on the pry bar attempt, and team Alpha still isn't answering the comms."
Flint inserts the prybar, then tries to use his muscle and weight, grunting slightly at the effort. After a few moments, there is nothing, not a slight budge at all. He relaxes, and takes a few deep breaths. "Thats not working either."
"Ain't gettin' nothin'…" Wolf mutters, "…somethin' ain' right. Let's hoof it back to 'em.. doubletime.." she glances back at the door and swats at the maglock panel in frustration. Not at all hard enough to damage anything, of course.
Flint grunts "Yea, at least get in communication range, this area might be shielded. We may need to clear a path to both goals first, then backtrack to turn on the power." He turns and starts back.
«Plot» Mirage says, "Meanwhile, back at the elevator shaft…"
«Game» Backup to offline storage commencing. Game may freeze for a bit…
«Plot» Mirage says, "For the past 20 minutes, the team has been working on climbing over a hundred meters up this mineshaft. Who's bright idea it was to make a mineshaft that goes UP you don't know, but from the bitching, it seems the tech wants to kill this person."
«STAFF» Mirage says, "Elevator shaft was made from an old mine shaft type dealie. Hope that clarifies things."
<STAFF» Mirage says, "The tech guy says it is, yes."
«Plot» Mirage says, "After another 10 minutes or so of climbing, Beta and Delta rush back to the bottom of the elevator…"
«STAFF» Mirage lets beta and delta pose first.
«STAFF» Mirage says, "Is all ladders and stuff."
Flint looks around, frowning. "Well, the guy said the elevator right…get inside and see if you can reach them." He shakes his head "This place is a nightmare of logistics, what are they doing here."
«Plot» Mirage says, "You hear conversation and climbing from above."
"Sonuva whore…" Wolf growls, moving to the mineshaft. "None of this sits right…" she peeks out into the elevator shaft. Then she whistles loudly, before chiming in on her radio. See if she can get some reception down here.
Commlink-Wolf> Boomstick says, "Oi. Gamma. You wanna trade places wit me? We got a sealed door back down th'other road."
Hunni had just ignored the man mostly, but even she must admit that a surface access from the top would have been much more practical then having to climb upwards.
«Plot» Mirage says, "Meanwhile."
«Plot» Mirage says, "Back down the cooridoor, at the security door, Beta and Delta have managed to breach the lock, and made their way to the breaker room."
«STAFF» Mirage lets you pose radio'ing in.
«STAFF» Mirage says, "Indeed."
«STAFF» Mirage says, "I did."
«Plot» Mirage says, "Nothing unusal has occured, Beta and Delta breached the door, and spent another 5 minutes walking to the breaker room. Upon arriving, they radio in that they are at the objective."
Commlink-Wolf> Boomstick says, "Don' mind th'boom, jus' cracked th'door. Took a lil' persuasion. Found th'breakers, tell us when, yeh? Over."
Viper remains silent as well, as the tech complains. It /is/ a rather ridiculously long way up. Though she wonders if this would have been easier to wait for them to kick on the breakers first and then just take the elevator…
«Plot» Mirage says, "And everyone at the shaft.. hears that radio, at the same time as the one from Beta about failing to get past the door."
«Plot» Mirage says, "The tech replies via radio, "The drek? Say again without the giberish? Something about a door and needing a tech and using explosives?""
Hunni blinks, hearing both those messages she pauses, looking down the shaft at whatever's below them with her vision. "Something's not right here…" she says slowly.
Commlink-Alpha> Hunni says, "Repeat your last transmission?"
Flint doesn't have a radio, so just stands around, watching for anything odd while Boomstick uses her commlink. He taps the prybar against his leg idly.
Mirage pages: I only want you posing at the elevators for now.
Viper comes to a stop as well and frowns. "The frag is going on…" She glances up at the other two with a raised eyebrow to see if its just her comm acting up.
Commlink-Wolf> Boomstick says, "I said… we're in th'breaker room… blew th'locks on a mag-door 'n waitin' fer yer go!"
The Wolf at the elevator is staring at her TACCOM unit, the device on her wrist, when she hears her own voice again. She taps her earpiece, "…wot 'n th'fraggin' 'ell…" she mumbles, then stares up the shaft, then looks over her shoulder. "…we uh, didn' leave nothin' behind, did we?" she calls out to Delta, before tapping her earpiece again.
Commlink-Wolf> Boomstick says, "Err, belay that drek, starin' up at yer arses from th'shaft… door was a no-go."
Hunni narrows her eyes and looks to Viper, gesturing to confirm she can see the people below them. "Looks like our radio's might be comprimised… I think regrouping is the safest bet…"
Viper frowns and looks down as well, but she doesn't have vision magnification in her eyes. "What in the frag is going on?" She frowns and looks back up at the other two. "Regroup? Though how do we know which one of them is real?"
«Plot» Mirage says, "The tech seems kinda confused, perhaps a bit frightened, muttering, "uh, yeah, that'd be best.""
Flint steps into the elevator shaft, using his own vision magnification to look up the shaft and see if he can spot anyone.
Hunni nods and tilts her head to the side. "I'll climb down first then, test to see if it's really Boomstick down there…you hear shooting? It's not…" she says and moves to climb down, hopefully quicker then the way up -without- falling.
«Plot» Mirage says, "Snapping his fingers, the tech exclaims, "Oh, I think I know. This facility is outfitted with a rudimentury semi-autonomous knowbot. I bet it cracked our comchannels. Yeah, that must be it." he explains to himself a bit. "Still, better check out that door and stuff, yeah?" he mentions."
Commlink-Wolf> Boomstick says, "Shoot 'em back a response tellin' 'em ta 'old up, else they.. we.. what th'fook-ever thinks somethin's up."
Hunni frowns. "And you've neglected to mention to this before we came in…why?' the asian woman says slowly as she climbs down to the bottom, however long that might take.
Viper frowns and starts to climb down as well. If that /isn't/ them, no telling how much trouble Alpha might get into. "No kidding, that'd have been wonderful to know before coming in here…"
«Plot» Mirage says, " "Didn't they tell you that at the meeting or whatever?", the tech guy asks."
Commlink-Alpha> Hunni says, "Hold up just past the door for a moment while we get into position"
Hunni shoots back a message on the comm, just to see how the pair down the bottem and their mystery radio double responds. Reaching the bottom Hunni climbs down and quite calmly tucks her hands into her jacket, looking to the 'Boomstick' in front of her. "Tell me, what's our room number?"
Boomstick waits by the elevator door, sweeping the corridor they'd come from, the one leading to the powergrid. A healthy dose of paranoia is evident in her expression and body language. She blinks and turns, looking at Hunni with a grin. "Four-five-five, shug," she sighs, "..'m a lil' freaked out."
Viper gets down as well and looks over at Flint, and isn't quite as subtle, pointing her TMP at him. "What was your past occupation and where did we first meet?" The question the tech asks is ignored, as the answer is an obvious no.
«STAFF» Mirage says, "Flint still having no idea what's going on…"
Flint frowns at Viper. "Don't point your gun on me, you aint fast enough on that trigger, trust me. Whats going on here anyhow?" He keeps his eyes on Viper and the SMG though.
Viper doesn't even blink, not removing her aim just yet. "Answer the question please, I'd rather not shoot you if you're reall. Alpha, does she check out?"
Hunni nods slowly. "It's correct…we should have brought a mage on this damn run…"
Flint continues to frown at Viper. "Hell, I think it was Keegans place, and I've been a bounty hunter, still am actually, and used to work for the Star. I've also been a merc too, I can't remember what all we talked about just so you know."
Viper nods softly at that and finally lowers her aim. "Well, he checks out as well… now, who the hell is playing with our comm channel?" She looks back over at the tech. "That Sk thing you mentioned? Though suppose we'd better change frequency…"
Flint grunts "Someones playing with the comms? Whats going on?"
Wolf looks to Flint, "Yeah, seems we breached th'doors an' are waitin' in th'breaker room for our trio 'ere…" she mutters, jerking her head in the direction of the hallway. "..I don' like bein' fucked with.. Tech, y'mind tellin' us a lil' more 'fore I let ya see th'bottom o' that shaft?"
«Plot» Mirage says, "The tech scratches his head, just getting off the ladder himself. "Well uh.. If it is the SK, and we switch channels.. It should compromise them again within a few transmits. If it's not the SK, I don't know what's going on…" he says, a worried look on his face. "An there's this other thing…""
Hunni nods in agreement, but before she does she checks her radio one last time. Once she's given her message she draws her weapons again. "I'm thinking we should move slow and see what's going on down there where you've apparently gone through…" she says slowly only to stop. "Other thing?"
Viper frowns and changes her frequency to a random number, not letting the others know what it is just yet. That done, she does a test on it while the others discuss what's happening.
Commlink-Viper> Viper says, "Radio check… Beta, are you and Delta still waiting in the breaker room? Over."
Flint frowns "Someones gotta be watching and listening to us then. We didnt start using the comms till we split up, that means whoever is screwing with us knew our plans ahead of time."
«Plot» Mirage says, " "Well…" the tech says, hesitantly. "Not to alarm anyone, but I've looked at the schematics pretty well and clear, yeah? There should'n be 'nuff power heading up to the mainframe room to run an SK off it. Them things eat mad computing horsies, yeah? So I dunno where the juice is coming from. Don't add up for me." he explains."
There's a little growl, and Wolf, true to both namesakes, and points her shotgun at Tech. "…Now… 'm small… 'n 'm feisty… an' I get a real itchy trigger finger when somethin' ain' right. 'specially when I ain' got all th'ducks lined up on a job like this… you sure… there ain' -anythin'- else yer hidin'…" she keeps the gun trained on him, being sure the elevator shaft is at his back. "…I ain' got much outta pocket but I ain' above walkin' either…" her eye twitches.
Commlink-Alpha> Hunni says, "You guys still in postiion?"
«Plot» Mirage says, "The tech backs way the hell off, "Whoah, crazy chicka, whaoh! Now, I did'n even know I was hiding the SK thing, so lay off! The entire operation here is to retreave the damned thing, or didn'tcha know? That's why we're HERE. I figure that's what they tell you at them damned job offerings.""
Flint looks to Boomstick. "Back off, if the tech doesnt fry his brain trying to capture the SK, he will be useful in getting out of here with the power on." He turns, scanning the room. "Its gotta be watching us now, its gotta have enough power for the cameras to know whats going on here."
Commlink-Wolf> Boomstick says, "Aye, sittin' on our 'ands 'ere. Wot's th'oldup? Techy stop fer a baggie of Krak-L-Snaps?"
Viper frowns a bit as she doesn't get a response just yet. She leans over to Hunni and whispers the frequency into the human's ear before doing it with the others as well.
Hunni frowns and gestures to the group. "We need to get down towards that door and see whats going down there….you guys take point…" she says slowly, obviously not wanting them at her back till they find what's down there just in case.
Flint is confused, but still, just follows along with the others.
"…first we 'eard of it. Thought this was just an 'investigation'… not a salvage op…" Wolf growls, but she stands down, freeing a hand from the shotgun and reaching out to the Tech, lest he fall backwards into the shaft. "C'mon then, let's move on… you want me takin' point? Still a lil' itchy…" she leans the shotgun against her shoulder.
«STAFF» Mirage assumes you're all headed down the hallway?
«Plot» Mirage says, "The radios stay silent during the first 10 minutes of walking down the hallway. The slight turn to the hall breaks line of sight past a few hundred meters, and the tunnel seems to go on forever. Still, after a solid 10 minutes, the team starts to hear a hurried jog coming from further down the hallway… Along with a familiar voice…"
Flint leads the party back to the door that will not open to force. He is a bit paranoid now, and stuffs the prybar in his chain belt, so he has two free hands to draw weapons with.
To (Boomstick, Flint), Mirage pages: You two (at the breaker room) haven't heard from the party for some time, since they've switched their radio freqs and haven't responded. You've assumedly decided to go investigate this, cause they aren't responding. The voice is Boomstick trying to hail them on the comms…
«STAFF» Mirage says, "Is ahead of you."
«STAFF» Mirage says, "Nah, one room works."
Viper still has her TMP up and ready, though blinks as someone is running towards them and that voice sounds familiar as well. "What in the drek is going on in this place?" She frowns along at the others as she readies her weapon… just in case…
Coming from the direction of the breaker room, Boomstick growls as she taps at the TACCOM on her wrist. She mutters at Flint, "…told 'em we were waitin'… didn' 'ear back from 'em in a while. Somethin' must be blockin' or they all fell down th'shaft…" The short redhead's tone is dark, and she really doesn't sound happy with this thought as she approaches the other group on an intercept course with them.
Hunni frowns as she hears this and slows her walk, slowly slipping her pistols back out of their holsters from the back of the group. Looking to Viper she'd gesture for the ork to slow, she's the only one she -knows- is the same one.
Flint raises a hand. "Slow down." he whispers. He tilts his head to the side and listens, then lays his prybar on the ground, stretching his fingers, and preparing to draw his weapons when need be.
Viper nods to Hunni and even takes a step back, frowning at the two curiously. "Should we switch back to the old frequency and ask them the same questions? See how they answer?" If they don't already know the answer…
The Boomstick with the group halts, staring down the corridor. She shudders, "…man I don' like hearin' m'own voice when it ain' comin' outta my mouth…"
«Plot» Mirage says, "Too little too late, as the pair come round the corner, and now you have it, two boomsticks, two flints, staring face to face."
Flint stares at his double, then the other team, then the tech, and sighs. "Alright, lets all go outside. This is either a hallucination, and the fresh air will do us good, or its some kind of magic, and we are just screwed and should go home. Anyone got any better ideas? I got one solution for my double, but my double might really be one of you, and I'd hate to kill one of the team."
Viper hasn't any idea who the frag she should shoot now, the doubles look the same! "Son of a…" She's backing up a little more now, looking between the two Flints and two Boomsticks. "This can't just be an SK, a program can't do this can it?"
«Plot» Mirage says, " "No program I ever heard of…", the tech says, taking a few steps back."
The twin shotgun-wielding midgets just stare at each other. Flint's words earn a tiny nod from both, but Wolf can't help but keep staring at Wolf, and vice versa. "So." "Yeh?" "Tell me 'least onna us brought a flask of fookin' whiskey…" "Nope." The breaker-room redhead curses in Gaelic.
Hunni looks between the pair of pairs and frowns, looking between them all. "Well this is not good…" she says slowly, suddenly wondering if it's a very good thing she brought two guns. The idea of getting outside does seem like a very good one, but she shudders. Last thing she wants to come up against in combat is herself, another sniper is never pleasent. The asian woman's eyes scan between them all though playing a little 'spot the difference'.
Flint holds up his hands. "Look, this is magic or drugs, only way to explain it. Lets just walk outside, and see if we can figure anything out, ask questions or something, but I want to get out of this place in case its the place doing this to us." His double nods "Yea, I'm not worried, if it comes to a fight, I know I can kill my double faster than he can kill me."
«Plot» Hunni says, "Can I roll perception to see if there's anything wrong between the two boomstick's? Soemthing missing or extra?"
«STAFF» Mirage says, "Sure"

From afar, Mirage notes you're supposed to be posing for both flints
Viper looks to Hunni and shrugs, looking back at the doubles with a frown. "Perhaps that might be a good idea. Please do not take offense if I'd rather keep my weapon trained on you… just in case."
Both Boomsticks shrug and lower their weapons, still looking each other over. "…yeh, 'm pretty dead sexy.." she chuckles. So does the other. "I'd shoot m'self, but… y'know, I'd rather not be commitin' suicide jus' yet…" the other one chimes in with that, nodding.
Flint shakes his head "Shooting would be insane." The other Flint nods. "How do you know, the double isnt really someone else? You can't trust what your seeing." The first Flint nods "Exactly, well, that makes this even stranger, we think alike too." The second Flint nods "Must be magic."
Hunni looks between the too Boomstick and clears her throat. "We're going to back up out side and then go from there" she says slowly, "As far as I know there's no cloning machines in here are there?" she says slowly before looking to the techie and the others to see if there's any objections.
Viper sighs as she starts to back up back down the hallway. "Well, if one of you starts shooting, I'll know who to ventilate, won't I?" She glances back over at the Tech. "Everyone stay in eyesight though, don't need to lose sight and come up with /more/ doubles…"
"Sure as sure," one Boomstick speaks up, the other adding, "…outside we go… Wot th'drek were they doin' 'ere…" she mutters. The pair of redheads sound a little freaked out at this whole situation, and rightly so.
Flint moves back to his usual position at point, along with his double. "Lets wait until we get outside to figure it out." His double nods "Probably try the questioning thing again. You shoulda seen it, she pointed an smg at me." He jerks his thumb back at viper.
«Plot» Mirage says, "The team makes it's way out of the complex. Back now at the guard shack, the situation hasn't really changed. Still have more Flints and Boomsticks than the team came here with."
