Two Man Con

GM: Mr. Terrific
Players: Pulse/Katsuo, kalli, Hunni, Wanderer
Synopsis: Mister Terrific gets wind of a 'nanotech hive' ripe for the stealing just like the one he ended up stealing from Jose Quervo and the Ghost Riders. But who's conning who on this job?
Date: December 8, 2073

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "This is a dangerous plot where bad people will try to do bad things. Please register, first, your consent to this knowledge. Second, this is a four person grouping of people who have been absent a while and whose schedules may not link up. The adventure is designed such that if we can't get back together, individuals will have little 'scenelets' that cover what portion of the excitement they manage in the solving of the plot. So that I can tag such people individually and get some completion with them in a little private scene. Feel free to include acknowledgement of this in your consent."

«Plot» Wanderer says, "I do solemnly swear I am up to no good."
«Plot» Kalli says, "I consent to the danger and ability to complete this in parts."
«Plot» Pulse says, "I do acknowledge the danger inherent in terrificplot, and am happy to.. ENGAGE!"
«Plot» Hunni says, "Consents to the usual with the standard 'within reason' clause. No crushing us with Loffy's bathtub fallen from a space station."

Normally, when Mister Terrific hires people for a run, he's pretty direct. Says stuff like, "The pay is twenty kay, you up for it?" This time he's more circumspect. Works through fixers, is generally noncommittal, let's some time pass because he's 'looking for the right group'. Or maybe just looking for people crazy enough. In any case, the meet is at the Bare Knuckle Gym, in the backroom clinic, with Sedimentary on guard and ready and the white noise generator running. When everyone has arrived he says, "Anyone here know Erisbel Echevarria?"

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Shadowscene players tn 8, mob stuff tn 4."

«Plot to Pulse» Hermetic wizard. Works for the Cubans. 'Brujeria' is his style of art."
«Plot to Hunni» Hermetic wizard, at least grade two, maybe three. works for the cuban mob. Rents elementals, will do astral security for their big jobs, can be put on retainer. Calls himself a 'Brujeria'.

Pulse arrived quietly through some manner of discrete witchcraft. The big man is standing in the corner of one of the clinic, a cigarette in his calloused fingers. "Cuban Jackass. Wizard. Brujeria… whatever that means." He closes his eyes and smoke trails from his nostrils. "Met him once, shortly after the trouble with the cubans. Shitty pool player."
Pulse says "Hot girlfriend, though," almost as an afterthought. "Great hips. Wonder if he's still sore about that…"

Wanderer shakes his head, the name registering nothing at all.

Kalli makes her way down to the Gym through mundane means, dressed in a semi-profesional blouse and skirt, under a smooth actioneer longcoat. Small pack slung over her shoulder, containing a few tools. Hands in her pockets, she shakes her head slightly as Pulse details the possible target, showing a slight smirk. "I don't know anything about him, off the top of my head, but that sounds like a decent start."

"Midrange, I've heard the name somewhere." Hunni comments as she arrives and hears the question. Wearing her jacket over her moulded vest the asian woman with the too-blue eyes is very quiet, leaning against the nearby wall.

Mr.Terrific gives the nod to Hunni and Pulse. "I was hired to put a hurting on him the other day. I found out a place that he was on continuous retainer to hire, and with a friend I made a disturbance, busting up some decently heavy guards, setting fires, doing it slow enough that they could call for help. Predictably, he astrally-zoomed on site, through the Ward because it was his ward. I put a killing on him, disrupted his aura. If he didn't have someone standing next to him with a trauma patch, he's likely dead. He's not important though.
What he was guarding, that's what's important. It was a 'nanotech hive.' It grows a specific type of nanotech, pumping it out. And we set it on fire. Needless to say, the Cubans were not happy, not to mention the crushed skulls of their guards.
Now I get wind of another site, another nanotech hive. The information 'comes to me' you might say. Planted, probably, because the assumption is that whoever did the deed, they were going after the nanotech hive, not Erisbel Echevarria. The hive is much more valuable than he is. They want someone to come after it, and it is obviously a trap."

Pulse listens attentively, not saying much, his thoughts locked behind a steely expression and a growing cloud of cigarette smoke.

Hunni herself quirks a lip into a half-frown. Asking the obvious question in her deadpan tone: "You want someone to spring the trap?"

Wanderer is relaxed in the chair, raising an eyebrow at the thought that Mr.T would have an issue with anything short of a low yield Fatman. He listens, though, not sure what's to be gained by marching into a trap.

Kalli nods slightly, giving Mr. T a bit of an odd look. "Okay. I can see how all this came to be, but if you know it's a trap, and it sounds like there's a pretty good chance there's not even a hive there… what is it you are looking for, exactly?"

Mr. Terrific says, "Hitting the rumor mill on some of the names they've hired in the past few weeks, looking at some of their equipment movements, and calling on the services of a Diviner who owed me a favor, I can tell you what they will have: Several snipers encircling the place. At least one rocket-based antivehicle drone. Another Brujeria shaman. A number of goons whose job is to act as tripwires. A smaller number of heavy hitters to act as a counterstrike. I am hearing multiple people with alpha-grade wired, and one maybe two with top-end wire, not to mention the Cubans springing for APDS for everyone. The deal is not one of tripping the trap. It's one of understanding just how much money is concentrated in one small area.
Top end wired is five hundred thousand in and of itself, and that's not even alphagrade. Put him down and take his body, I have a doc who'll give us minimum twenty percent. That's almost enough to pay for a run right there."

Wanderer blinks at this, thinking about the amount of money that went into him and how much a bunch of goons would be worth to Mad Doc Chopsy. He rubs his chin a bit and ponders, but says nothing at the moment. "So I'm going to be the one to ask the stupid question, who's paying us to do this? You or someone using you as a go-between? I understand the financial incentives to body-hacking and selling the parts, but it's a long way to fly for that."

Mr.Terrific answers Wanderer, "I know people who would like the Cubans to have a bad day. That's not the money though, that's just a good word in someone's ear, a hot rep, and maybe a phone number to call if someone likes your style. The money comes from what we pick up off the ground.

Pulse whistles. "That's some real fucking talent, brohim," he tells Mr. T. "Damn, I could use a slice of that kind of cheese." He shakes his head. "I'll call Katsuo in on it. He usually handles the slicing and dicing." His gaze flicks to Wanderer, then back at Mr. Tee. "What exactly is Brujeria?"

Mr. Terrific says, "Brujeria is a latin american/south american style of sorcery. Has a long tradition in Argentina. They do sacrifice animals in their ritual magic. They would love to be blood mages if they ever met a real one."

Kalli gives a slight nod. "Ah, I see. So, basically, we're looking to steal as much of this ambush as we can. That makes… some sense. There is certainly a bunch of money to be had here."

"This is also a very very good way to get dead from what you're listing," Hunni says smoothly. Snipers we can sneak up on and snipe back, but a mage will see us approaching and kick the party off too soon. A rocket drone could level half the places we could hide if it's sensors can pick us up. All of this is based on if we can lug all these corpses out afterwards without getting arrested so you can ghoul their gear?"

Mr. Terrific says, "That's why it's called a 'shadowrun.' Needless to say, I'll be killing enemy mages and spirits with a full crew of elementals. I'll have a few invisibilities to spread around. And you will be under the Movement power, so you can get in and get out with a body - the elementals, too, will be under the movement power so they can lug bodies."

Pulse says "They'll have already dealt with the cops. After all, they're planning an ambush." He thinks it over. "Good astral security can deal with the mage. Shove a few elementals down his throat… or just snipe him." He nods again. "Doable. But Kat will only be able to handle twoish of the heavies. He'll need support."

Mr.Terrific looks about the room thusly.
Mr.Terrific asks, "Do you want to answer these questions in a planning phase, or does anyone want to take a walk at this point?"

Kalli takes in a deep breath, considering the situation. "Assuming you can handle the mage, for the most part, I think we ought to be able to at least sneak up on some of these snipers and get them and their gear. I believe sniper rifles can be fairly pricey, and they're likely to have some specialized cyber, at least. Without the sniper cover, we could possibly take over for them and snipe the crew, though that's likely shooting too high. So to speak."

Wanderer says, "I'll admit my biggest concern is the drone.
Wanderer says, "I'm reasonably confident in my ability to out sniper most snipers, but I don't come off so well against a mechanical missile shooting death machine.

Hunni nods in agreement with Wanderer and then looks at Pulse. "If we can be sure the cops are not an issue, I can bring the means to deal with the drone. But we are putting a lot of trust in the magic being handled."

Pulse nods towards Mr. T. "What he said. Anyone going to walk?" He waits for a beat or two, just to be sure.

Mr.Terrific spreads his arms. "I'll be on site and doing my job. I have a couple of tricks like what I pulled on Echevarria, and a few I didn't have to use. Now, we can assume they might have an in with the police themselves, but we have to be careful too. We would still have to get there and get away with the bodies even if they've arranged a free-fire slow-response zone."

Wanderer pulls up his pocsec on his arm and taps it a few times, making a face at what he sees and shrugs, "I'm in. I've apparently got expensive tastes and Diego isn't cheap… just easy."

Kalli nods as well. "I'm in, at least enough to really get a sense of how this will work. We might only need to get out with some parts of them and, depending on where in the city this is, it might not be too big a deal. If we could get a vehicle that we could hide some bodies in, it might be easier. Also, a cyber scanner might be handy."

At this point, the scene revolves on heads turning slightly towards Hunni, the last to not make a clear statement of 'in'ness. It's hard to say whether Mr. Terrific saying, "I'll do my part,' is a good or bad thing.

Hunni crosses her arms, but she nods her in. As always she'll do her part and hope she doesn't end up having to be dragged out again like the last time she worked with T. Boomstick was -not- happy.

"So now the planning phase. What was that you had to counter the drone, or drones?" says Mr. Terrific.

Pulse says "Right. Okay. I can work on the cops and getting bodies out. As far as the drone… well. A decker might be able to handle it, or mess up the rigger. Honestly, if we can find the rigger the drone's not an issue." He folds his arms. "Any ideas on that score?"

Wanderer can, even with his vestigial social capabilities, sense the tension between Mr. Terrific and Hunni and is puzzled, having worked with both. But his job isn't peacemaker, it's piece maker.

Mr.Terrific says, "All my diviner saw was rockets coming from a drone as a possibility. I don't know who or where it would be. We'd need someone with the ability to do the electronic warfare stuff to track it and find it; or just spot it where ever it is."

"Well, I'm a decker," Kalli starts. "But, wireless hacking is a ways off. I'm not likely going to be able to hack the drone unless I can get a hold of it, and I don't have to software to do anything with it if we capture it, at the moment. If we can find the rigger, that'll probably do it, though."

Pulse's eyes flick back to Mr. T. "What's our timeline?"

Mr. Terrific says, "Eventually they'll get bored, the contracts on the heavy hitters run out, and they fade. A week and a bit, depending on how tempting they make it. I'll let you know if I get another 'job hint' about it."

The counter to the drone Hunni had in mind? She holds up her fingers spaced a decent distance apart. "A bullet about this big designed to take out armor?" she says simply. "That tends to work well."

Wanderer looks misty eyed and dreamy.

Mr.Terrific smiles. "Any special way to spot it, or simple awesomeness?"

Kalli chuckles softly. "I don't feel like a rocket firing drone flying around is going to be that tough to spot."

Wanderer wishes that were the case, but Ruthenium can be applied to damn near anything.

Hunni shakes her head. "Standard optics. Lets hope they let off heat or something. Otherwise," she pauses and looks at Wanderer. "We'll see who can shoot a rocket out of the air the fastest."

Wanderer shakes his head, "What layout and mapping can you get for us? Layout? Sat imaging? Blueprints?
Wanderer smirks at Hunni, "You're on."
Wanderer hopes to hell these guys didn't spring for alpha headware, most of that won't make it.

Kalli looks over to Wanderer. "Once we know the location, I can likely get us plenty of blueprints for the whole area. That stuff is usually pretty easy to find. Not that I'd turn down anything we already have."

Mr.Terrific says, "So, our expectation is that you two," he says to Hunni and Wanderer, "will be countersniper and counter-drone. Obviously if any of us spots the drone, we tell you and do whatever we can. I am counter-mage, general fluffer - I mean buffer - and I have a way to deal with the crowd of mooks to keep them off of Katsuo with an invisible great form elemental. That will free him up and assist him to find their high-end in close people…" He looks to Kalli. "You'll be doing set-up work - where do you want to be helping at the critical point?

Kalli shrugs slightly. "I'm fine in a close range situation. I'm a pretty good shot with a pistol and I can keep quiet while I'm moving around. I could go in with Katsuo, or I could go roof to roof after the snipers, or whatever gap we have. I wouldn't want to action hero in against five guys, but I could handle a few, if I get the drop on them." She pauses for a moment. "If this is suppose to be a place that's open to the public, I could even scout a bit, as a pedestrian."

Mr. Terrific says, "If that's your weapon, I'm thinking you back Katsuo up. Keep people off him, make for a second spotter. I can't say there will be anything electronic or technical to handle, but who knows. That will be excellent. Is that the beginnings of our plan?"

"Sounds like as good a start as any," Hunni murmurs before shaking her head. Oh how she misses that helicopter of hers. "I'll get my gear together, my suit and my armor should cover me up." She pauses and looks toward Wanderer. "You still have that rifle we found you? A ruth suit?"

Wanderer nods at Hunni, "Yep. And I've tricked both out a bit since last time, Sensei."

Kalli nods slightly. "If we need to get any doors open, I can crack them pretty quick. If not, I don't mind gunning people down. I can do the cover fire, while he takes point."

Pulse gets off the phone. "Katsuo will do it, just give him a time and a place. I'll be in touch with my other comments about the police situation… may at least be able to arrange a way to transport the bodies."

Mr. Terrific says, "My belief is that they 'imagine' we are trying to get in to steal another nanotech hive. So they will be expecting us to crack doors. Whether that's a good or a bad thing, I don't know, but it's good that you'll be there to do it. Okay. Let's get cracking."

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Let's get cracking," means that we zoom through all the prep stuff that we've already discussed that we are going to do and we do it competently, and maybe with a few die rolls, like say, Kalli, roll me something decker or matrix like for getting blueprints and maps of the area."
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "And then roll me something stealth-like, but for matrix stuff maybe (use either stealth or a similar sleazing skill) to not be detected by their deckers who strangely enough are watching for people doing such."
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Pulse, do me something with contacts and etiquette for your cop management, and then equally, something stealth or etiquette like to not have the same dudes being paid by the Cubans tell the Cubans you're asking."
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Hunni and Wanderer, you can lavishly pose a gearing-up montage while we drool at you."
«OOC» Hunni finds the music.

Wanderer looks at Mr.T, "So… no one asked about transport. How're we getting ourselves and our implements on site?"
Wanderer coughs a bit and looks momentarily embarassed, "So… Hunni. Mind giving me a ride? I'm still saving up for a transport."

Mr. Terrific says, "Now, they have snipers and drones too, so vehicle location is going to be more than just a few blocks away. It could be as much as a mile away."

Toys? Hunni has plenty of toys. After nodding to Wanderer and heading for her backup van it's off to gear up. She goes swapping moulded leather for moulded combat armor and smart systems. Pistols strapped and her sniper rifle slung, she loads her magazines and slides the spares into her pouches. Her sword? Sadly it's left behind rather than adding to the ninja-cyborg look. Hunni pulls her helmet on and tests the ruth system, winking out of sight and then back in again. Oh how she loves this suit.

Wanderer does similarly, checking his Steyr-AUG and selecting appropriate ammunition. He sets it aside and then unpacks his AMF, a Barret-50, lovingly blacked and well cared for. He checks the action and is pleased at the new silicone gun lubricant he's using, then packs his pistol for the look of the thing. Then the outfit he's wearing goes transparent and he slips the hood over his head and vanishes. Finally he pulls out a Snickers bar and relaxes as the spotters do their work, letting the ruth suit turn back to his normal street attire. He waits and hopes Kalli's successful in data mining up something to feed into his internal mapping software.

«Plot» Pulse is going to not go directly to the cops, but go to his mob connections; calling a mob lieutenant, seeing if we can discreetly arrange for our friends with stars to be paid off to look the other way that night. Not asking questions, just… not paying attention.

Rillinger and Braganio get back with Pulse in a distracted away. Paying respects, but they got other stuff on their mind. "Yeah, I hear it's gonna be quiet in that area. Nothing to worry about. «Plot to Kalli» It is supposed to be a warehouse on the border of a lightly wooded, hilly subdivision in a C security zone. So there are warehouse-style rooftops, parking lots, open spaces in one direction; and lightly wooded hills, suburban houses, and windy roads and cul-de-sacs and backyards and innocents to get hurt in one direction. Feel free to put up a pose of your awesomeness with the information, and a variety of escape routes.

Kalli heads out for a while, heading home, kicking back, and plugging in to start searching the matrix for all the data she can get on the target zone. Much later, she comes back to meet up with what she's found. "I did some searching and I have some chips for you. The supposed hive is supposed to be in a warehouse, at the edge of the a lightly wooded, hilly subdivision in a C security zone. There's some warehouses, parking lots, hils, and some residential houses. I've marked the residental zone on th map, as it's likely that they aren't in that area. The heights of all the buildings, and blueprints thereof, are referenced. There's also a few clear routes out of the area, as noted."

Pulse never comes back. Who returns is a handsome young japanese man, quiet and unassuming… but geared for battle.
«Auto-Judge[]» Katsuo (#3231) rolls Disguise for "+4, polimask":

Wanderer goes out to get take-out Chinese then, coming back with little trapezoidal boxes of remarkably good take out. He might have mapped all the restaurants worth going to in the Denver area.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "It is assumed that everyone studies the map with a canny eye and their amazing skills and powers. It is also assumed that everyone has a commlink with some amount of encryption and uses it. Are we ready to begin?"

Wanderer scans it all over and loads it all into his dead reckoning system and internal mapping. He looks it over and creates a 3D image of it to share out to folks as well. He fits it into his map of the area.
Wanderer looks into what the most likely positions for the enemy snipers, guards and the damn drone may be.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "And let me roll their sniper team tactics as a counter:"

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "They suck less but have been out-done."

Wanderer and Hunni know several locations that they expect enemy snipers would be pursuant to that critical question: Do they dare hide inside the suburban subdivision area?

«Plot» Hunni says, "Does it offer good angles?"

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "The suburban area, being in Denver, has hills and the occasional two and three-story home. Some areas within are truly optimum, unless you have a problem with normal people walking out of their back yard and telling you to quit shooting from their roof, their daschunds are barking too much."
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "I suppose the question also is: when you go in, will you try to take an optimum location for yourselves, together or separately, knowing that they may have a person there?"

Wanderer will go to the residential area if he needs to, he's not ashamed and suspects his ruth and the distance should provide plenty of cover.
Wanderer looks at Kalli, "I have an unusual request. Think you can look up if any of the houses in the residential area are currently unowned or unoccupied?"

Hunni says, "So we can try and find an empty house. If that fails? A big house. Or we bribe someone to go to the movies."

Kalli looks to Wanderer and Hunni, giving a quick nod. "Sure, I can do a quick search. I didn't bring my deck with, since we were infiltrating. Just let me get it an I'll find out." With that, she heads out to her car, then comes back in a little bit and takes a seat, hooking up and starting to scan.

«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 1 for "A 5+ means an empty house in a good position that Kalli knows because Wanderer and Hunni have already looked up good positions.":
2
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Alas, the empty houses tend to lowness and do not have good sight lines. The houses that are good for shooting have people in them. The bigger houses may have multiple families in them, considering this is a C zone.""

It isn't long before Kalli is done, with a list of a few unowned houses. "There are some vacant houses. Not sure if any of them are in a good spot for you, though." She rattles off a few addresses, easily found on the provided map.

Wanderer shrugs and picks the house with the best vantage and, leaving anything that can't be easily concealed, takes a cross-town bus to go check it out with his own eyes. He's always much better on the ground than in the bar picking at the fortune cookies.

Mr.Terrific says unto Wanderer, "Hey. If you walk there and a mage sees you, with all your killer cyber, it could be game over for the whole plan."

Wanderer scowls. "Will they really be watching all the hills for people in cyber? It's a residential zone as you said."

Katsuo says "At this point? It's their job. And an astral mage covers a lot of ground."

Mr. Terrific says, "Again, I don't know. It's a risk. You are adding risk. I can't wrestle you to the ground, but I don't think it's worth the risk."

Wanderer does so hate that. He shrugs resignedly and goes back to poking at the fortune cookie.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Okay. No one's downtimey-get-ready actions were detected, so it is still us who springs the trap. So we will start with the sneak-in die rolls and the challenge that everyone faces in getting into their opening positions, and then do Hunni and Wanderer playing shooting gallery, assuming they don't screw up and get spotted."

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "All right. Let me begin with the appointed day:"

It is the appointed day. It is the appointed time. No one has died yet, which means things are going well. Concealed compartments have brought all due weapons over the border into the CAS. Several escape routes and smugglers stand at the ready. Well over a mile from the target site is the immediate meet in a dead alleyway, where spells and powers are laid. A hulking flame-beast, a two man-sized rockslides, and a mountain of veiny blouders appear. "Bloodstone, grant us your power of movement. Keystone, follow at a distance and gather the bodies of the fallen. Broil, you'll be killing mooks." A hissing laughter at this.

It's a frenzy of waving arms and magic words and then fewer people are seen… but you can still be heard. Which might be a giveaway… IF they spot you. And of course these spells won't help against the enemy wizard or spirits, so stealthy technique is still required.

It is from a copse of trees on top of a normally-unclimbable hillock that both Hunni and Wanderer spot motion, a levering into position, a finding of an angle, pointed at Wanderer. It's a place that both of you examined carefully and discarded; it's good because it's so steep that small children won't walk up behind you asking for your helping in finding their stuffed animals, but bad in that it doesn't have sight lines to the death zone; there's a house in the way. But it does have sight lines to a good number of other sniper positions making it a good countersniper position. The two of them aren't even there yet when the bead is being drawn on Wanderer. (He can't hear it, but the enemy wizard's ally spirit is squawking in the radio about Wanderer too while the enemy sniper is trying to ignore it.)
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Since everyone sees everyone, no surprise. Obviously he has cover. If you go before him it's easy for you to get to cover with your awesome movement rate."

2 3 5 7 11 = 1 Success
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "And out of karma. Since Hunni was so kind to expose him for you, you may pose the kill."

Wanderer rages internally at being spotted and when he hears Hunni's rifle fire he takes measure of where she was aiming, he follows her round with one of his own, squeezing the trigger and already cursing the botches in stealth he'd made. He feels the rifle thump back against his shoulder and watches the head of the sniper jerk back and go down with a distant meaty thump.

Squeezing off her round Hunni watches the target dodge in her scope, she's probably already lining up a second. She was faster, the wires in her skin to be thanked for that, but when the dodge puts him in the way of Wanderer's larger calibre she give a little 'mmm' of approval at the mess it creates. Hopefully he was too busy dodging to call for help.

Wanderer just hopes his headware wasn't alpha.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "And now, move to your sniping location of desire with described swiftness.

Into place and out of the way Hunni sets herself up, extending her bipod and letting the comfort of a custom grip fall into her hand. "Well great, they're really using premium ware," she murmers before keying her mic. «First shooter in position.» Yes she considers herself first, because she said so!

Wanderer settles into position, setting up his ruth and laying into position where he has a good eye over the field. He settles the bipod and prepares to start making head-canoes as soon as he sees targets. The cover's blown, the jig is up, the shit has hit the fan, the yadda yadda fucking yadda, time to kill some fuckers.

Commlink-Loxley> Wanderer says, "Grassy Knoll Ready."
Commlink-Colorado> Katsuo says, "Faku!"

Commlink-Colorado> Katsuo says, "Today is a good day to die. Heading in. Keep the snipers off me."

Commlink-Loxley> Wanderer says, "Fuck that. Today's a good day for them to die."

Timing is difficult when everyone is wired. Even moving at astral speeds, even talking back to an ally spirit on a radio, the gunfight in the no-longer-peaceful suburb is over in a flash before the wizard has really gotten to move in for a closer look at Wanderer. Then his ally spirit is reporting, Red Seven isn't calling back in, the fragging goons - the tripwires - can't keep radio silence and start chattering up the link. The shit is hitting the fan and hard. He tries to give away the sniper's location, but they run so fast that they outdistance astral flying speed! He broadcasts coordinates to his ally spirit and hopes for the best.

«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 6 vs TN 8 for "One at Wanderer":
1 1 2 2 9 15 = 2 Successes
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "All right. Again, Body roll tn 6, and you really want at least 1 success."
«Auto-Judge[]» Wanderer (#10733) rolls Body vs TN 6:
1 2 3 4 10 = 1 Success
«Plot»Wanderer gets just that.
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Excellent. You take another Serious wound. That is 12 boxes, and you are down and bleeding out. If you had not just rolled a 6, it would have been 16 boxes, and with your body of 5, you would be ded ded."

Wanderer feels another shot slam into him and the world starts going fuzzy around the edges, he mumbles something into the comm as he passes out.

«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 6 vs TN 8 for "On Hunni":
1 2 2 4 5 10 = 1 Success
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Standard 14S with 1 success to you, Hunni."
«Auto-Judge[]» Hunni (#12074) rolls Body vs TN 6:
1 2 3 3 4 8 11 = 2 Successes
«Auto-Judge[]» Hunni (#12074) rolls Body - 2 vs TN 6 for "KP:12/23":

«Auto-Judge[]» Hunni (#12074) rolls Body - 2 vs TN 6 for "KP:14/23":
1 3 4 4 4 = 0 Successes
«Auto-Judge[]» Hunni (#12074) rolls Body - 2 vs TN 6 for "KP:17/23":
1 1 3 3 3 = 0 Successes
«Plot» Hunni says, "Fuck it. Stand."
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Serious wound, alas."

It's just not Wanderer's day - and neither is it Hunni's. They say that some days the bear gets you, and it looks like this might be one of those days. They've played it cagey, setting this trap - but skill and speed may still give our heroes the edge.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Third pass, Hunni only on 6. With a big dearth of enemy combat pools."
«Plot» Hunni is going to fire one shot then use a simple and her free to dive under and pull wanderer into full cover

«Auto-Judge[]» Hunni (#12074) rolls Rifles vs TN 10 for "Screw you hail mary":
1 2 2 2 3 3 7 8 10 17 = 2 Successes
«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 6 vs TN 11:
1 2 4 5 5 14 = 1 Success
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "if you have a D rifle he's dead, an S rifle he's seriously wounded. You can KP if you like, I jumped the gun on his soak and didn't give you time to choose to stand or roll."
«Plot» Hunni says, "No. His 6 armor can save him today"
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "You may certainly pose your motion with Wanderer!"

Firing her last shot at the prick who shot her Hunni continues cursing in japanese even as she rolls low, giving an impossible angle of cover. One hand comes out and servo-enhanced strength pulls Wanderer with her, she doubts he'll fight her on it anyway. Switching back to English the usual calm sniper sounds rather miffed.
Commlink-Senbon> Hunni says, "We're shooting, make with the mojo!""

Wanderer is completely out of it, and is being thoroughly inconsiderate bleeding over Hunni like this.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "And cut scene. Hunni and Wanderer have laid out two snipers of a possible four, wounded the third and forced him to flee or be slain. Since they are widely separate, their bodies are easy pickings for the roaming speedy elemental. They will be concerned with theor iwn lives and not with shooting Kalli and Katsuo. Wanderer will need to be stabilized with magic, first aid, or both."

«Plot» Stabilizing Wanderer.
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "tn for stabilize, base 10, -1 for Wanderer's body of 5, -1 for Savior medikit, it's the suburbs, conditions aren't exactly bad, so tn 8. +3 for Serious wounds is tn 11. I would feel better if you hit TN 12 just to cover for possible bad conditions. + 6 dice for medkit rating 6."
«Auto-Judge[]» Hunni (#12074) rolls Biotech + 6 vs TN 11:
1 2 3 4 4 7 10 10 13 = 1 Success
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Nicely covered.

Wanderer thinks Hunni is his savior indeed.

Wolf might get grumpy if she found out Hunni was playing doctor with someone else, but given the near fatal wound Wanderer was wearing she figures she'll make an exception. Pouring the quick-clot and patching the wounds, she lets the biotech do it's thing all while hiding from a trio of snipers. And she doesn't even have her medic's cross.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Wanderer will remain at 12 boxes of damage, but is stabilized and won't get worse. If the enemy mage could, he would actually come here and summon elementals, but actually he'll be in a fight before then."

«Second Session - Kalli and Katsuo»

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "When last we left our heroe-.. protagonists, they were moving to the target warehouse under invisibility and stealth, fully knowing that they did so under the likely watchful eyes of snipers, wizards, and drone(s). Their hope is that their snipers will take out the enemy snipers and drone(s), allowing them to get close enough to trip the trap with a surprise attack on the enemy mook units. That will supposedly draw out the wizard for Mister Terrific, and the high end warriors from the enemy."

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Excellent. A base 9 and a base 11, so:"
«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 6 vs TN 13 for "For the wizard to see from the astral as he's zipping around from trying to help the sniper teams; tn +4, other penalties are cancelled out by the fact that they have a magic spell on them":
3 3 4 5 8 10 = 0 Successes
«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 6 vs TN 13 for "For the top-end guy with Ultrasound to catch a clear line of sight and recognize these blips are what they are; again, +4 tn from base":
1 2 2 5 5 15 = 1 Success
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "With that, the top end guy gets both of you moving in. He doesn't have a weapon that's good for you, but he and certain other people are informed, and won't be surprised."

But it's not as if there's much time. Just as he's about to give the alert, that's when the mage and the sniper team start their chatter and he can't talk over them on the general channel. So he just fragging shouts to the people inside the warehouse to get ready, and they transmit that just in time to the mooks outside the house for them to get ready too.
That's when the invisible superspeed Great form fire elemental hits. They can't possibly see it. They could conceivably hear it, except that it flies and moves about 120 meters per pass to zoom up on people and mass Engulf them. And it remains invisible even as the people inside burn, visibly, to death in the course of a second and a half, whereupon it drops their charred bodies and rushes to the next group. All they hear is a rush of flickering gas, and then they're inhaling the flames.
It should be said that they don't die immediately. Some get off shots as they are dying. Some even fire three-round bursts from submachineguns. One manly lad even pulls a standard grenade in the hopes of taking out his invisible magical killer - he's dead before it goes off and it pulverises the bodies of the other man captured within him, but a standard grenade can't harm this elemental. Finally some even shoot at each other, targeting their engulfed comrades in the knowledge that the elemental is around them (likely they are being advised on the radio by the magician's ally spirit.)
All this excitement creates three happenings. One, Mister Terrific is frantically gesticulating and can be heard speaking in Hebrew over the commlink; two, a big opening is created in the mooks, and three, the warehouse loading bay door opens, lifted up by a huge troll carrying what looks like a giant harpoon of some kind. He scans around, touching his ear, and generally looks in your direction.

«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 4 for "troll astral perception, goes against base stealth":
1 4 5 8
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "He does not see you immediately."
«Plot» Katsuo says, "how long will it take me to barrel into him at top speed?"
«Auto-Judge[]» Katsuo (#3231) has the Attribute Quickness with the value '6 (10)'.
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Your meters per turn is 300, if you go three times you cover 100 meters and can attack HTH at the end of it, and this is the ambush point, which means you guys should be at the edge of pistol range under cover. So the answer is, you can barrel into him on your first action."

«Plot» Kalli says, "How many other people are around? Anyone that looks interesting?"
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "I'm glad you asked! for that wise question, you get a hearing-based perception roll."
«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 6 for "big bad guy's stealth but he's out of sight right now so can't be seen no matter how good you are":
1 2 2 5 7 11
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "TN 11 for hearing, TN 9 with enhanced hearing.."
«Auto-Judge[]» Kalli (#3905) rolls Intelligence vs TN 11 for "Listening for interesting things, no special mods":
2 3 3 3 3 5 5 5 = 0 Successes
«Auto-Judge[]» Katsuo (#3231) rolls Intelligence vs TN 9 for "yes, I do have advanced hearing! also, spatial recognizer.":
1 2 3 5 5 11 = 1 Success

Commlink-Syne> Kalli says, "Looks like we have a path to the good targets. Keep aware for anyone else good."

Commlink-Colorado> Katsuo says, "Hai. My ears are open. Getting ready to strike."

Commlink-Syne> Kalli says, "I'll follow you in."

It would be as Katsuo gathers himself for the charge, in that crouching moment of silence, that the sound comes to him. Oh so enhanced by his tech, directing his attention via the mental topographical map that he has studied, to a location inside the warehouse and around the corner of the wall. The most subtle scrape of feet and stilled breathing in a distinctive heel-toe walk the special forces guys use to keep a stable shooting platform while moving. Oh, sure, there are mooks in there too, all moving around, but the gear cleans up this sound fine as day.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "So, a direct run to engage the troll, standing in front of him, would let that special forces guy shoot you slantwise from the side."

Commlink-Colorado> Katsuo says, "Shooter, around the corner. Will chew me up when I slam into that troll. Can you engage that flank?"

Commlink-Syne> Kalli says, "Will do."

Commlink-Colorado> Katsuo says, "Tell me when engaged, and I will be the thunder on the mountain."

«Auto-Judge[]» Kalli (#3905) has the Attribute Quickness with the value '5'.
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, " 5x3x10 is 150, you'll go 50 meters a turn, which from extreme pistol range puts you right up at the edge of the loading bay door, but if you shoot in the first pass, you take +4 running penalty."
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "So you have a plan, and inits!"

«Auto-Judge[]» Katsuo (#3231) rolls Initiative with a result of 30.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Katsuo! Your go."
«Plot» Katsuo holds for Kalli's action.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "SF! He also holds:"
The thoughts going through his head: this is it. good men dying for a trap.. they should be coming in any moment. Start with APDS, then move to the spiritbusters… ready on the ultrasound….

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Kalli."

«Plot» Kalli says, "I am going to run up to the entryway, where we suspect there is someone waiting to shoot at us, ducking past the troll if necessary, so I can pinpoint and get some shots off at the as of yet unseen gunman."

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Excellent. May I assume you use the cover of the wall of the warehouse? And would you stick your pistol, hand, and gun around the corner actually physically into the warehouse, or would you stay back from that location? I'll mention that your location will be pretty darn exposed to the giant physical adept troll who's looking for you, but you expect to have someone who deals with that. You'll be out of immediate HTH range but if said troll had a handy action free he could come over and whomp on you."

«OOC» Kalli says, "I'm going to keep the wall of the warehouse as cover, and trust that my partner will keep the troll busy. Peeking around as necessary to actually have a chance of finding him."

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Okay! Kalli, you move to the place, make a perception, you ahve location bonuses."
«Auto-Judge[]» Kalli (#3905) rolls Intelligence for "Low-light":
2 2 2 2 4 4 4 15

Why look, there he is amongst the boxes and crates and the scaffolding of the warehouse. Right where he'd have a good angle right this direction. The cunning of vision can even see the way the boxes he's hiding amongst have been specially reinforced.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "You can shoot at him, he's 25 meters back, he has +4 cover and you have +4 from running, and you can even shoot twice."

«OOC» Kalli says, "Not a great shot, but I'll take it."
«Plot» Kalli says, "Shooting my Guardian, it'll be TN 6 for Long Range, -2 SL2, +4 cover, +4 running, so TN 12."
«Auto-Judge[]» Kalli (#3905) rolls 6 (Pistols Skillsoft) + 1 (Enhanced Articulation) vs TN 12 for "Shot #1":
1 1 2 2 3 3 9 = 0 Successes
«Auto-Judge[]» Kalli (#3905) rolls 6 (Pistols Skillsoft) + 1 (Enhanced Articulation) vs TN 12 for "Shot #2":
1 1 1 3 4 5 8 = 0 Successes

Kalli is ready to move, Guardian in her right hand and synced to her smartlink, Thunderbolt in the left, not yet fully equipped, both loaded with APDS under the assumption that armor will be heavy. She starts forward, moving fast enough to be a blur were she visible. Moving through the gap opened by the fire elemental, she's up against the wall of the warehouse in just a few heartbeats, keeping pressed against it as she looks around into the warehouse for a line of fire. Catching sight of the man hiding behind cover, she brings her Guardian up, disregarding the warnings blinking about an obstructed line of fire, letting off two silenced rounds, hitting the cover around him and hopefully making him worry about just where the shots are coming from.

Commlink-Syne> Kalli says, "Engaged."

«Auto-Judge[]» Kalli (#3905) uses 2 of item 4: APDS Rounds - H-Pistol from Ammo (#937).

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Katsuo, do you want to come out of delay?"
«Plot» Katsuo does.
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Katsuo!"

«Plot» Katsuo will be heading in full tilt, going for a tackle. (read: getting in really close, not using the charging option in order to instead use close combat. not attempting anything 'tackle' like other than being at that kind of range and hitting him in the soft bits.)

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Excellent that you are using close combat! I will be using Quick Strike to go first, I believe."

«Plot» Katsuo says, "go for it!"

It's almost as if his eyes are drawn to Katsuo as he moves in. He is breaking from cover, after all, and he is invisible.. but it's the sidestep and long harpoonlike stab he uses to spit the charging boar. Who will end up as the meat?

«Plot After The Fact» He has blind-fight to reduce the +2 penalty for HTH fighting by Astral perception to nothing. He has Centering for later just in case and it would be easy for him to negate such penalties with physical adept centering.
«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 8 + 2 + Combat Pool: 6 vs TN 4 for "Troll, reach 3 negated, quick strike offensive attack, skill 8, magic 2, Kalli is shooting and he's choosing to not engage her through he could do it with a few steps.":

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Now that Quick Strike is done and Katsuo actually ducked under and hit, it's Katsuo's offensive turn."

Katsuo comes in like a freight train, crossing the ground with incredible speed. The troll's adjustment surprises him- the man knows he's greased lightning now- but close combat is his thing…

…and he has a thing for punching trolls.

One hand goes down, pushing the harpoon away with an open-palm-technique, and then he's in the troll's face, delivering a body blow that lands with the force of a small freight train… the troll's massive form absorbs it, but Katsuo's not done yet…

Now the troll is covering up, bringing his elbows in, trying to work the haft of the spear. Making his vitals hard to reach, covering up while still threatening damage.

Commlink-Colorado> Katsuo says, "Thunder has engaged the mountain. It is mighty, but I will wear him down."

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Another miss."

He clearly considers it more important to pick off the one shooting at him because that person will come to an optimum shooting position in a moment and be able to aim. That's not good for him. Unfortunately, he's firing at a vague fluff of ultrasound-shape, and doesn't pick off any real flesh, though he gets close enough to whoosh at armor.

It's a pretty brutal fusillade of choppy bullets slicing through the air. But for now, the invisibility is holding; the mooks lurking in the warehouse appear to have guessed wrong about your real location.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Now the troll would go, but this is the action that moved to the quick strike. So now we are in the second pass, Katsuo!"

Katsuo doesn't like being shot by so many bullets, and so he moves like the wind, maneuvering to a new position, putting the troll between him and as many shooters as he can, fists up, ready to counter the troll's next attack…

Katsuo's next series of attacks is just that… a series, a flow of blows without as much juice behind them but with the intention to keep the troll on his toes even as he tries to keep from getting shot.

The fighting's getting hot and heavy. The troll is forcing the smaller man to come in, expose himself, reach deep. He makes him eat the haft of the spear, but it looks like the little guy is not without toughness himself.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Special Forces! he will try to shoot Kalli. would I be right in saying that you are no longer running, you don't take a penalty and neither does he?"

The gunfight is getting more serious now. Juking, positioning, controlling breathing, ducking around his carefully prepared cover. Still not latching on.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Kalli, second pass. No longer running. 25 meters to dude, with +4 cover."
«Plot After The Fact» We discuss various options. Kalli will be switching to her Thunderbolt, which does better damage but doesn't have a smartlink installed, then after that moving 18 meters at a walk which entails no penalty.

Kalli takes note of the fight going on right next to her. She has faith in her partner's ability, but since she's still maneuvering, she may as well help. Bringing her Thunderbolt up to take aim at the troll, judging her partner's position by the thrusting of the troll's spear, she fires off two quick bursts, each with that distinctive boom of the gun. Even without the asistance of her smartlink, her shots strike solidly, first one shoulder, then the other, drawing blood from the troll. Not about to stick around for a retaliation, she turns and ducks into the building, bolting for a spot of cover much closer to her original target, getting into a better line of fire as she ducks down, hoping to have ducked out of the various lines of sight and confused them as to her position.

«Plot» Mooks!

Katsuo is hurt. It'ss happened before. It's been a while, but it has happened before. He pushes it aside, forces his vision to focus, and steps into the machine that he has become. In that moment, Katsuo is gone. Reed is gone. Even Pauly is gone. He is simply the warrior reforged… and out comes the hurting bombs. He steps in, shoulder checks the troll… and then he pivots, throwing all his muscle from his ankles up into an uppercut that catches the troll right on the bottom of the jaw.

Truly is the adage, "The taller they are, the harder they fall."

Katsuo has a slight roll back after knocking the troll to the ground, still under the effects of movement, and takes a few long steps to distance himself from his enemy.

Commlink-Fairplay> Mr.Terrific says, "I hear you. Help is on the way."

«Third Session»

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "When last we left our heroes, they had moved further into the warehouse in an attempt to pincer the deadly ex-Special Forces agent. Fusillades of fire from the well-armed mooks amongst the boxes had severely injured the Pulse/Katsuo, while the actual enemy had managed to pick off Kalli based on the barest hint of ultrasound around cover. Moments from death is how to describe it. Perhaps the agent is plotting his best shot, perhaps he's figuring how best to shoot right through cover with his deadly APDS ammo so as to drill you both through the heart. But then, TROMPTROMPTROMP! The ten foot tall rampaging spiky elemental coming through the door is neither silent nor invisible. Its massive fist is equally huge and frighteningly fast. But despite its grotesque power, its first strike doesn't even graze the perfectly balanced, bobbing, weaving agent. Even now, his APDS clip is falling out of his rifle only to have another jacked in…

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "He free action ejects magazine, simple action loads spiritbusters, simple action shoots three-round burst. Unfortunately, he really needs to full-auto, but he doesn't have the time."

But it's all to no avail. The special ammo chips directly over the elemental's heart, but doesn't manage to burrow through to the core.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "That sets up the invisible fire elemental who similarly rushes in. He has 80 meters of movement, and he rushes in to grab two mooks with Engulf. He's invisible and has reach, they don't have Ultrasound, he rolls against 3 and they roll against 8. They start to burn."

Katsuo feels the sound and the fury- the blaze of the fire elemental can be sensed from here… and he moves like a machine. This much blood, Pulse is gone, Katsuo is gone. What remains is the machine. He spins around the cover, taking a knee, lining up the shot… lays a bullet right into the target's torso, but the armor is thick, even with the armor-piercing ammunition.
But now he has special forces in his sights.

Kalli hears the added gunshots in the rough direction she knows her partner is and regroups her efforts. Keeping to her cover, she brings her Guardian up to aim. Her smartlinkinterfaces with her wires, moving her arm into position while she focuses on the pain and blood. The crosshairs in her vision blink as they register a firing trajectory and she pulls the trigger twice. Her target's luck holds, unfortunately for her, as both rounds are caught in his armor as he twists to try to manage the large mass of earth trying to kill him up close.

«Auto-Judge[]» Kalli (#3905) uses 2 of item 4: APDS Rounds - H-Pistol from Ammo (#937).

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "The two mooks who are engulfed struggle uselessly as they burn, because of invisibility penalties. One of the four mooks tries shooting at his own pals. The other three mooks remember their training about using full-auto to overpower spirits, not knowing that a F10 spirit is beyond the ability of their well-crafted submachineguns to affect in this manner. They bounce rounds off of it in classic manner."

This would have been a massive gut-punch from the elemental sure to loft any mere human high. But he man just isn't there, sticking close, elbow-jamming down on the fist hard enough to move himself out of the way, not the beast.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Special-forces: full auto, point blank, 8 shots to drill Bloodstone."

A short step back, still in the elemental's range, is enough for him to bring the assault rifle up tightly. Now he has that precious instant of rock and roll, that time to go all out. This time he holds the bullet-hose on target long enough to drill through, turning the elemental into deliquescing chips of stone, falling with boom. The mooks (at least those with hearing dampers) give up a cheer for their savior!

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Second pass, Katsuo."

«Plot» Katsuo says, "Aim, shoot."
«Plot After The Fact» Katsuo's TN was 8 here because no more shooting into melee. It would only make a difference on the first shot and we agree not to go back when, later, we discover it.

Katsuo grimaces as the man full-autos the elemental, but he keeps his aim. He pulls off a second shot, this one right on the heart- but the man's luckier than the devil himself (and the devil should know, he's the one holding the pistol), and something stops the killshot.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "By the way, in here the fire elemental dropped the lifeliess bodies of two mooks and went to get one more (they're spread out)."

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, " Kalli!"

«Plot» Invisible great form fire elemental ends up with a Serious wound.

As a military man, he understands safety in numbers and massed fire - after all, that's how his planning brought down Katsuo. The only logical choice is to save his men so they can work together. He's the only one with the weapons - the spiritbusters - and the sight, which shows him the cloudy, gaseous, vague form. He veritably outlines his own man, sailing rounds through the invisible flame, and while he can see it recoil in its motions, his man is still burning and his men flailing with their weapons.

He doesn't even think of how many thousands of nuyen he just spent. he just knows that the engulfed man has dropped to the ground and the gaseous haze he sees on his ultrasound is fading away. His men are starting to calm. He shouts to them, making an arm-motion towards the hiding locations of Katsuo and Kalli.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Katsuo! Let me mention: If you don't take him down now, then the mooks will recover and start trying to be useful."
«Plot» Katsuo is aware.
«Plot» Katsuo will just give it to 'em. Charging option for extra power.

«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 9 vs TN 10:
2 2 2 3 3 5 8 8 14 = 1 Success
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Does not stage down. Trauma damper means the 6 boxes become 5, plus 1 he already had, he is now at Serious Stun.

It's too much. Katsuo needs to act, and quickly… both spirits are down. He steps all the way around combat and moves at top speed, moving even faster than he did against the troll, closing distance in what seems like three steps to deliver a series of teeth-shattering blows to his enemy… but while his blows could shatter most bones, his enemy is sturdy and skilled and does not yet fall!

«Plot» Mooks!

The minions are not rallying perfectly. Yes, their leader took out the deadly elementals, but they've still taken fifty percent casualties. They still have only the vaguest ideas of where their enemies.. oh look one's obviously in combat with their leader, and he's edging around to give them a clear shot! Or so they imagine.

«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 5 vs TN 14 for "Funny how these mooks are keeping their combat pool for getting away, huh? Mook one":

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "And mook 3 moves away."

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Kalli! Again I beg, end this farce. :)"
«Plot» Kalli says, "Hehe, whoops. I'm putting two more shots into him, hopefully actually damaging him."
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Still staying away? Not daring to saunter up to him to shoot him in the face?"
«Plot» Kalli says, "I may as well run up to him and face shoot him. At least I can give a 'FIM' bonus, then."
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Hopefully, fortune will favor the bold!"
«Plot» Kalli says, "That'll get me down to a TN 7. I'll fire off two bursts with the Thunderbolt this round. No smartlink, so TN 9."
«Auto-Judge[]» Kalli (#3905) rolls 7 (R6 SS & EA) vs TN 9 for "12S APDS, Shot 1":

«Auto-Judge[]» Kalli (#3905) rolls 7 (R6 SS & EA) vs TN 9 for "12S APDS, Shot 1":
1 1 3 3 4 5 7 = 0 Successes
«Auto-Judge[]» Kalli (#3905) uses 6 of item 5: APDS - Heavy Pistol from Ammo (#937).

Kalli sees her target react to an impact and has to assume that her partner is up close and personal. Rather than leave him to take the counter-attack alone, she braces herself and moves in to join up close. Ducking around his cover, she brings her thunderbolt up to bear, but between his erratic movements and the limitations of her wounded body, her supposed lock is just a hair off, putting some bullets in the cover around them.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Second pass, Special Forces."

Against these kinds of targets, the only thing to do is go APDS. Again he ejects the three rounds of Spiritbusters remaining, his natural tactical memory keeping track of their every bounce on the floor, while he jacks in a completely fresh clip of APDS. The only one to shoot is the other fighter, the one with the incredibly punishing fists.
«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 9 vs TN 13 for "tn 4, -2 smartlink, +4 ultrasound, +4 two opponents in melee, +3 wound pens, no karma":
2 3 3 4 4 4 7 8 11 = 0 Successes
«Plot After The Fact» We actually thought this hit with an 11 and then we discovered that it was +2 for each opponent in a melee and it was in fact a miss.

Who would have thought that wrestling in close combat with two people while trying to dodge invisible guns in your face would make it difficult to shoot other invisible people?

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Mooks! They move towards the door in roundabout fashion."

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Katsuo!"
«Plot» Katsuo is gonna hit him.
«Auto-Judge[]» Katsuo (#3231) rolls Boxing + Combat Pool: 4 vs TN 6 for "4, +3 wounds, -1 FiM. Damage down to 16m.":
1 2 2 2 2 2 2 3 4 4 5 10 11 17 = 3 Successes
«Plot» Katsuo has to stand on 3. no kp left.
«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 8 + 1 + Combat Pool: 5 vs TN 12 for "tn 4 +4 ultrasound +3 wound pens +1 FiM":
1 1 2 2 3 4 4 5 5 5 5 9 9 11 = 0 Successes
«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 9 vs TN 9 for "against 9s stun to body":
1 2 2 4 4 4 4 4 10 = 1 Success
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Not enough. Takes Serious stun, becomes 5 boxes, that's 11 boxes, he is out."

Katsuo ducks and weaves as the gunfire comes out, and then he's closing again, his blood up, his invisible eyes glowing a brilliant blue as his beast is loosed and he slips into the dirty boxing. Gun hands are grabbed, pulled down, elbow is delivered across the face, followed by a rising punch into the ribs, and then another elbow as Katsuo ducks around and drives it into his victim's kidneys.
Trauma damper isn't enough. The man hits the ground… and Katsuo is turning, getting ready to finish the job.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "We now move into roleplay. Kalli, immediate action?"
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "The mooks are running for the big exit. You hear clomping outside."

Kalli lets out a relieved sigh as the man drops. She feels her body readjusting to the guns in her hands, taking a moment to change clips on both before holstering them at her sides. Looking around, she grabs that mostly expended clip of spiritbusters, likely still valuable enough to ensure it's recovered. "I think we need to get out of here."
Commlink-Syne> Kalli says, "Two bodies for retrieval. Still good?"

Katsuo nods, leaning down to the man, rolling him over… and with a deceptively-gentle looking motion, he puts his big hand over the man's mouth and nose, smothering him. "Make sure troll is dead. Will carry him out… minimize damage to body. More organs, more value. Be sure we bring spear."

That's when the mooks dash out the door for freedom! And then their eyes roll up in their heads, and they sag to the ground unconscious after a short word from Mister Terrific. (That'll teach them not to watch their lines of sight and to group up for a Stunball.) The clomping noise is that elemental on body-retrieval duty, who goes in to grab the troll and special forces agent - but leaves behind the weapon focus spear. Mister Terrific calls out, summoning yet another elemental to get onto body duty. This one is wider, with long, lanky arms, and it gathers up burned and sleeping bodies of mooks in its massive grasp before it too zooms off.
Mister Terrific is the one who picks up the spear. And then…

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Hearing based perception check!"
«Auto-Judge[]» Katsuo (#3231) rolls Intelligence for "hearing amp, spatial recognizer.":
1 2 2 5 5 8
«Plot to Katsuo» 'Fump-foosh!'.
«FIRE IN THE HOLE!» Katsuo moves at his full speed almost instantaneously, moving towards Kalli to scoop her up and dive for cover, flames and collapsing buildings and death all coming back to him in a flashback…

«Auto-Judge[]» Kalli (#3905) rolls Intelligence for "Normal hearing":
1 1 2 2 3 4 10 17
«Plot to Kalli» 'Fump-foosh! It is the 'fump' of a guided rocket ejecting from its tube, with the 'foosh' of the engine igniting and starting to streak towards its target!'.

Kalli sends that same warning, "Rocket!" out over the comms as Katsuo reacts, letting out a startled yelp as she's grabbed. She just holds on for now, letting herself be carried from the target zone and assuming that Mr. Terrific will know to do the same, with the two warnings.

Katsuo keeps moving as he dives for cover… forgetting how fast he is.. and keeps moving further and further away from the target zone…

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Speaking realistically, the rocket is shot in the first pass. you both hear it and recognize it. It won't hit until the last segment of the last pass. So under the movement power you can easily be a hundred yards away. Pose accordingly."

Under the effect of adrenaline, time seems to move so slowly… the streak of light that you all know of as a rocket moves in a guided curve, actually into the wide open warehouse door and on to the center of the hastily departed section of boxes. If you look back, like Lot's wife at the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, the rocket might even seem to deliberately target a certain box, a box which explodes in counterpoint to the strike with a secondary explosion. As if to indicate that there was a rigged up bomb in the center of the warehouse, the 'nanotech hive' that they were trying to sucker you into. A second rocket sails into that center, a high-explosive for big target area; and a third and a fourth. Are they trying to blanket the place for you, while you're long gone? Or is this someone trying to destroy that hive and using us as a distraction?

In any case, Mister Terrific knows that when everyone else is running away, it's time for him to run too. He trails after at best speed, hauling away his cache of bodies, gathering together for the transportation of loot over borders, the sedating or slaying of captives, and setting up for the organ grinder.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "We are now into escape, first aid, healing, stuff like that. Or you can leave it to roleplay. Mr. T has biotech (4) and a savoir, if you have better or know someone to go to you can do that in roleplay."

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "I presume it would not be difficult to first aid you both from Serious to Moderate. Mr. T is going to save his karma for pulling Wanderer back from 12 boxes, although he'll make a go with anyone."

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Body scores?"

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "That is the last great form earth elemental service for carrying large numbers of bodies."

And from there it becomes an exercise in healing the wounded, flaming the blood, moving bodies over borders to Mad Doc Chopsy, and making the cut, so to speak.
