Players: Macro, Naomi, Posh
Synopsis: The players are asked by an associated of Triad boss Suen Qiang to destroy the ritual equipment of a Black Chrysanthemum hired outsider. They end up tangling with his surprisingly tough host before going fast and proud, managing to suppress opposition through well placed quiet, nonlethal aggression.

A slightly dirty Aztechnology Luna van smoothly slides through the night. In it, with a worried look on her face, sits one Posh, on one of the large seats, frowning as she considers the contents of a chip she's just slotted.
"Well, frak me," she says to herself, "I can't turn down a chance for quick nuyen like this, but I've also got to get some magical backup," she says, considering.
Fortunately, though some of the usual Awakened she works with are out of town, Posh recalls a meeting she had with an advisor to one of her friends. And so she fires off a text message to the addy Naomi'd given her when they'd met before.
«Hello there. I've got an interesting opportunity that might need, for certain, a bit of the gift. I'd love to swing by and offer you a lift - we can have a chat about the opportunity and see if you're interested» she suggests. «If you don't mind getting into a near-stranger's van at 01:35 in the morning. But you seemed like an adventurous sort.»
Naomi is relaxing and watching chemicals bubble in her lab when she gets the call, tapping a response into her pocsec.
«I do like a good adventure. Come by the shop and I'll join you for the details. We'll see how things develop from there.»
Once done, she heads upstairs to grab her gear and get ready for a trip.

Posh closes the call, and on the way, begins to prepare a little presentation on her battletac computer. She ponders who's also had a good shot in times like this, and dashes a rather differently pitched message to Macro. «Got some opportunity for you here, omae. Mind if I come pick you up and we can work out the nuts and bolts?»
The big Luna, originally a metahuman model of a shuttle bus, provides a reasonably comfortable environment as well as the display Posh has been working on, which is of a rather elegant townhouse in the city.
"All right," says Posh to Naomi. "We'll be picking up one more associate before you've got to make your decision. He's a jumped-in ethi of mine," she explains. "And a man I'd trust my life to."
On the way to pick up Macro, she links a feed to him via cell, as well as Feather, who she last knew was out and about on her bike, and nods. "All right. We've got a job to do," she says, holding the townhouse. "One of my contacts, an associate of the Black Dragon Triad boss, Suen Qiang, has recently been informed that a powerful mage has recently been contracted by the Black Chrysanthemums. The mage is being housed at this building, the home of a mid-level Chrysanthemum enforcer," she explains. "Suen Qiang's associate is willing to pay use each thirty-five thousand to accomplish the goal of destroying the visiting mage's ritual site and equipment," she says. "We'll have no idea exactly what kind of magic we'll be facing. We only have to destroy his equipment, but I doubt he's going to simply permit us," Posh explains. "As a token of my respect for Suen, I'm reducing my fee on this one; do let me know if any of you are interested in performing such a favor for the Black Dragon Triad," she says.
Macro listens to the spiel as he drives to the pickup site. "Triads are dangerous people ta be owed favors from. I'll take the cash, thanks," he replies. "So, crash 'n smash, no need ta kill the mage if we can knock his ass out?"
Naomi grins slightly as she hears Macro's voice, leaning forward a bit in the back of the Luna, resting her arms on her knees. "Well, that's a voice I haven't heard in a while. I wouldn't mind having his number, and he mine, should an opportunity arise for us to do some business. It sounds simple enough, though. Do we know anything about the visiting mage?"

GM Note: Suen Qiang is a 62 year-old human male and one of the major bosses of the Black Dragon Triad in Denver. Originally an immigrant from Hong Kong, he has lived in Denver since his early 20's.
While he sometimes takes advantages of his age to project a kind grandfatherly demeanor - he is actually a cunning - ruthless man whose grip on power has largely remained because he is an effective - uncompromising leader that demands respect from his subordinates and crushes opposition. He remains in mostly good health despite his age.
In the shadows, he occasionally operates as a Johnson for the Black Dragons - typically to contract shadow help for gang hits and any other operations for which he needs complete deniability. He's also a skilled mage (grade 5 initiate) assumed to have the following stats:

Posh chuckles. "Fair enough, ethi," she replies over the link to Macro. The van pulls into the parking lot of a low-rent buffet in a B-zone on the outskirts of Asian Town, a perfect place to meet up with her fellow Omen, where they will wait for him. "And you've got the right of it," she says.
"We received only some information. As is not uncommon for the Black Dragon, he is an outsider to their organization. His name is Tim Prenumkar," she says, showing an image of a hardened Indonesian man in his late forties. "His reputation from what we are told, is that he was involved in several battles over territory in the Golden Triangle. A few years in Tokyo, helping to maintain human trafficking organizations from his own country. He's apparently an elementalist - likely why the destruction of his equipment is such a priority," she says. "It also means, I'd wager, that he'd have such assets to defend his lair."
Naomi nods to the explanation. "Do we know what element he is aligned with? It would make it easier to know what to expect, if we have that information. Other than that, I can call a couple fae in preparation and we can check out where he's residing while he prepares for… whatever it is he's going to be doing. Also, do we know anything about the enforcer he's staying with?"

Posh gives a nod to Naomi. "I see," she says. "Based on reports of casualties associated with him, burn victims, and such, he seems to be associated with fire," she explains. "And yes, we do," she says. "It's one Heung Chun," she says. "He's not so much as you might call 'made' with the Triads, although that's not exactly an appropriate term, but he's been a solid basher and such. He's likely to have a bodyguard as well," she says. "In any case, information on Heung suggests a common approach for non-magical Triads: a penchant for cyberspurs."

Posh works up a quick request to her info dealer, Dirk, to see if plans can be acquired from the building. It shows a relatively roomy two story townhouse, three bedrooms on the upper floor, kitchen and living area and study on the first floor, and a relatively roomy basement down below. The building plans had shown a permit to get a ‘workshop’ completed down there, which provides this blueprint. Access to the house is by two doors, one in front of and one accessible via alley behind the townhouse, with a camera guarding the alley. The front door apparently has a solid maglock setup, R6. There’s also roof access and several barred windows, although further information beyond that is unknown. Panicbutton setups are indeed in the area, with a response time of 6 minutes or less, but more likely there’d be a similar response time from a Black Chrysanthemum crew.

"… Don't think we need ta worry about cops showin' up," Macro mutters as he hears about the PB setup. "Last thing th' triad wants is a couple police officers comin' by on an official call where they'd have the right ta check out the entire place."
"… 'course, they probably have a cozy arrangement with the cops in the first place, so yeah. Panicbutton gets pushed, we're more likely ta see a triad response than cops… Which isn't much better news, ta be honest…"

As Naomi taps into the conduits of energy that she knows leads to the spiritual essence of her ally, the presence starts to shift closer, until it awaits, rather hanging out in the astral, availably 'present.'

Macro has little preparation to do on his end save for some simple stretches, but as Naomi starts doing her thing he leans against a wall to observe.
Naomi focuses for a moment, then speaks softly in gaelic to herself, "I request assistance. Please come to my aid." (Irish Gaelic)
A moment later a figure shimmers into being in front of her, translucent andpartiallyin the floor of the van she's sitting in. It has the appearance of a dog, but with elongated limbs to allow it to walk more like a person, and it is wearing a robe. It bows before her and speaks with a growling voice, "How may I assist, mistress?"
Naomi nods to the canine being with a smile. "Stay nearby for now. I am likely to need your assistance shortly. I will call for you then." Thecanine bows again, and then fades from sight, waiting to be called.
Posh watches this, almost dumbfounded for a moment - magic does remain beyond her ken, although she's at least been instructed in how to punch a spirit, through explanation from Blackheart that included clips from an antique film called 'Ghost.' In any case, she shakes her head, and uploads the blueprint information acquired from Dean into the battletac system, and then creates two potential targets, location unknown, of the mage and the host, annotating everything. "We should not be suprised if there were also less important hangers-on, some private security," Posh says. "But I think we should be equally unsurprised if there isn't," she says. "This isn't a ganster stronghold, it's a gangster's home," she says, with a smile. "In any case, I'm not sure how to approach against an elementalist," she says. "So that's why I wanted my eth and a real hotshot to try to do this quick and quiet."
Naomi looks to Macro. "Well, if they do push a panic button that alerts the triad, it would imply something they can't handle, which I'd imagine would reflect badly on them. So, it probably won't be the first thing they do. And, if we can get down into the basement, we could probably wreck it and get out in less than their response time. If we can sneak in, though, that'll just increase the time we have to work." She turns to look to Posh. "The question there is if either of you can open a maglock stealthily."
"Same as with most mages, take 'em out fast," Macro responds, shrugging once to settle his staff into its holster at his back. "Beyond that… They gotta see ya ta hurt ya, but they can sic a spirit on your ass at any time, so.."
He chuckles at Naomi's suggestion. "If I'm forcin' a lock, I can pretty much guarantee it won't be stealthy…"
Posh nods. "Well," she says. "I can probably do the lock itself," she says. "But I don't know, if they've got any kind of magical coverage, that'll be a tall order," she says. "What about going in through the top?" she asks. "Or finding some other way to over our entry into the house, somehow?" she asks. "I mean, if I'm under the benefit of some powerful invisibility spell, as I've seen, I can probably do what needs to be done rather surreptitiously," she says. "Short of that, I'm none too sure."
"I can make the three of us invisible," Naomi offers. "I could get us up to the roof, as well, though we'd likely need to sneak thruogh the entire house to get to the basement. There's probably not as much in the way of defenses there, though. It'd hardly be the easiest way for most people to get in. Are there any cameras up there in the blueprint you got, Posh?"
Posh shakes her head. "Looks like it's just a motion sensor, and a simpler maglock, which would be even easier to handle, because, well, I don't need to move fast, especially if I'm not rushing it." She shrugs. "It may not be that, but surprises are more likely to be on the inside than the outside. External security's always more expensive to mess with, you know?" she says.
"If we can get inside we got the advantage," Macro points out. "As long as we move fast and take out any guards we see quietly before they can sound an alarm we should have time…"
Posh nods to Macro. "That's certainly true," she says. "At least from how it seems. We're also going to be outnumbering at any given time, too, if we play this right," she says.
Naomi shrugs. "May as well go in through the roof, then. It'll let us get in easier and quieter. We can probably make our way through from there. You should still wear masks, though. If anything dramatic starts happening, I'm likely going to have to drop the invisibilities."
Posh nods in agreement. "All right, then," she says. "I've got a good ruthi cloak to wear for a bit of extra stealth too," she says, with a quick grin. "That an an Ancien around my face, plus black eyes and hair, should do just fine," she says. "Let me know if you want a little extra boost on disguises for either of us, but if that's how we're going to it, let's go ahead," she says.

Naomi smooths out her hair and wraps her own scarf around her neck, ready to pull it up to cover her face as needed, Her hair shifts from its natural blond to a hot pink as she adjusts. "Well, you can only do so much to disguise yourself, in a magical sense. With a little luck, we might get in and out before they know what happened."
«Plot» Posh says, "We're already in a van so as soon as you guys say we're ready, we can head there, park nearby, and get to it."
"Let's head over there and get this show on the road, then," Naomi says. "I'll float us up to the roof and we can get to the basement from there."
Macro nods. "Let's dance."
Posh nods. "All right," she says. "I'm going to be loading rebounds," she says. "I've got suppressed weapons and my instinct is that they're not going to be loaded for bear themselves, inside, and that embarrassing them will be enough of a setback," she says. "After all, it'll make them look weak if anything gets out about it," she says. "So if we have a nonlethal option, it sounds like that makes sense, at least at first. Of course, hunted is better than dead," she says, flashing a grin.
The van then pulls up a few blocks away, to a position from which it's relatively easy for Naomi to cast such spells. No doubt there is little attention paid to astral activity in the immediate vicinity by any monitors; no doubt there are plenty of strange things at least recently due to the elementalist's activities, and the cops are looking the other way.
"Got no suppression fer my guns, myself," Macro replies to Posh. "Figure I'll stick to my staff until it's time ta go loud."
Once they get there, Naomi looks out the window of the van at the building, her eyes shifting to green as she looks for any sign of astral activity on the outside.
Posh nods, as Naomi arranges to levitate them up onto the roof.
Posh glances back with a quick nod, and begins to move slowly - slowly! Up to the roof access door, just inside which is likely the connections to the motion detector.
«Plot» Posh says, "So, you can see that there's some strange influence in the astral plane that seems to be emanating from the basement. Nothing enough to draw a massive crowd of spirits, but the same type of influences that could be seen in areas of heavy oricalchum production, or someone summoning a hit squad of spirits. There also seems to be a watcher spirit posted at the front door, likely watching the door and set up to make up for the lack of a camera there."

As they prepare to head out, Naomi begins to speak in gaelic, sounding quite definitive as she does. The trio fade out of sight and then lift off the ground as Naomi focuses on the collection of spells she's just cast, bringing the group up to the room. Once there, they land lightly and Posh and Macro can feel the magic of the levitation end, putting them back under their own power.
Macro has had /some/ experience already with being unable to see himself, although normally that's due to wearing a ruth cloak. He ducks into a crouch as he touches down on the roof, one hand at his back to check and secure his staff as he takes stock of his surroundings.
Posh's legs dangle a bit ungracefully as she's levitated up, but fortunately, nobody is able to witness her indignities as she's fortunately invisible. As she's deposited, she chuckles. "Makes me wish I had an umbrella," she intones, over the comm, before she nods, and then moves to approach the roof hatch with its simpler maglock than the door. And no watcher spirit.
She moves as slowly and smoothly as she can, eventually starting to slowly, slowly, tool laser open the housing to the maglock, before she reaches into her purse and pulls out a little monocle, then beginning to install a little route chip so that she can attempt to sequence the lock.

After a number of minutes, there is a quiet, muffled beep, and the little hatch is openable. Posh turns back and nods to you two, then realizes how pointless that is, and then proceeds to slowly open the hatch.

The sound of an internal alarm inside the house sounds, and Macro can hear the sound of movement from below, and then creaking on the stairs, as apparently someone is starting to come up.

The sight of the man in the briefing, Heung Chun, the one known to have a penchant for cyberspurs, comes up. He's wearing just a loosened white shirt and a pair of black trousers, and he looks around, a little suspiciously. It is a rooftop motion sensor after all, every time it's gone on before it's just been a squirrel, or a scav up there.

Macro holds his breath a moment, gauging the other's movements, letting his mind sink into that state of zanshin Old Shen had always recommended, holding for the perfect moment to strike. No battlecry. Don't want the alarm to go out just yet. Let him step into range…
Macro, who has gone through the hatch and descended the steep ladder/stairs up to there to the second floor hallway, sees the man briskly watching. Posh has just come down the ladder behind him; both are invisible, and the man does not seem to see them.

Heung had not been aware, and suddenly he's smashed into and staggered by the invisible fist of God in the form of Macro's staff, although he's apparently one hell of a tough cookie. Posh had been almost as surprised as he had, and so she's rather dumbfounded, although perhaps Naomi might be able to have something up her sleeve, even though she cannot take a direct action against the powerful close-in fighter.

Naomi is staying well out of the way, on the ceiling. She's focused on the remaining invisibilities, and watching from the astral, so when Macro springs into motion, there's a blur of colors that seem to be taking her a moment to properly discern.

Posh's elbow lashes forward at the man who'd been staggered back, a pair of cyberspurs snicking out and lashing forward in a brutal counterstrike. Posh only manages to land a blow on his upper arm, which would be ineffectual were it not for the shock of her discharged contact pads, delivering a tasing flash through the man, who staggers back again, about ready to cry out in alarm.

Oh, we can't have that. Macro smoothly moves around Heung's flank, deducing Posh' position by reading the man's body language as he takes the hit, and lashes out with another brutal combo, hoping to silence him before he gets out a warning.

The well-aged Triad enforcer is actually tough enough not to be seriously wounded by Macro's well placed blow, which is a rather impressive feat. It's not quite impressive enough to keep him conscious. Posh immediately heads towards the alarm, and then presses the reset button. Inside, that's all it needs - as described, a consumer grade setup.
Macro stands over the crumpled body for a moment longer, exhaling slowly to let the adrenaline bleed out of his system again, them manages a grin that nobody can see.

With that, Macro books it towards the stairway down, quickly but quietly, keeping an eye out for any other residents. Not /likely/ if the only question comes from the basement, but now isn't the time to be careless…
Posh moves to hustle down the stairs as well, following Macro.
There seems to be no other security, besides the sounds of feminine snoring from the bedroom in the upper hall, undisturbed by the rapid sounds of the desperate fight. It seems that the guy considers himself all the live security he needs, which is probably not unjustified: there'd be few small time thugs who'd have lived to tell the tale of messing with that guy.

As Macro bursts into the basement he can see a rather large amount of magical equipment, perhaps as expected, ritual gear, lots of braziers. Apparently as the type of elementalist he is, Tim Prenumkar specializes in fire and the elementals their of, perhaps a little bit of a different spin. And there he is, calling out up the stairs, a manifested fire elemental there with him as well. Perhaps he'd be already alerted, were it not for the speed of action and stealthy entry into the house, but he was at least suspicious enough to force his spirit to manifest.
The spells broken, the three come up against the mage and the spirit without either able to set an ambush.

Naomi maintains her levitation, floating through the house as people head down to the basement. She keeps the shielding up, likely more than enough defense agaisnt the mage, focusing her Masking to slip through the barrier without disrupting her own spells.

The spirit is relatively fast moving and manages to swoop a deadly blaste of flame sweeping over both Macro and Posh, while, perhaps expectedly, Tim's a little more flat footed than that, necessarily.

Posh just takes a page from her eth's book, giving her own roar, certainly a little more high pitched han anything he does, but perhaps a signal that perhaps it's Omen's time. She focuses her entire will and engages the spirit directly to little effect, but she's likely got its attention!

Two quick bounding steps bring him into range of the spellslinger, his staff already out for a brutal swing to the head.
IT's a dreadfully easy target, as he's almost highlighted by his magical glow in Macro's field of view.

The elementalist's powerful armor spell holds the staff of the powerful ork…but the ork's fury is too strong, the powerful WAAARGH of the staff coming down on Tim's forearms, an almost sizzle of power pushing against it as he is then dashed sprawling, unharmed, but shocked at the power of the ork's battle fury.
He then shakily starts to rise to his feet, unable to cast a spell at the same time. He's used to just shrugging off anyone who gets close to hitting him it seems. "…Y…you…!" he says. "You will feel my flames!" He should probably talk less and fight more, but it does look like he's preparing to cast some sort of spell, which he'd probably have done if Macro hadn't had created a near kinetic warp against his powerful spell.

The powerful elemental struggles against the entwining energies of Naomi's magic, but it is unable to break free. Perhaps distracted by the two Omens, it had not expended its energy on the threal threat: the mage that has entwined and now is sapping its strength right away.

Naomi lands at the bottom of the stairs and looks at the elemental. "Get the mage, I've got the elemental." She makes a gesture towards it, reaching out with one hand and grabbing the air, twisting her hand and tugging at the astral threads she seems to have grabbed, tugging at the elemental's essences, starting to unravel it.
Posh opens up suppressed fire suddenly from her two elbows as she points at the mage target, the rebound rounds spanging left and right off of the mage, barely causing any effect at all except on one particularly placed burst. She curses as the rounds start to get a little shakier, but the mage is clearly knocked around a bit, slightly blooded as Macro gets the drop on him.

Macro isn't terribly impressed with the threat - he's from the Warrens, he's heard worse and more creative. He pushes forward as the mage is pushed back, crowding him against a wall to leave him no room to maneuver or evade as another brutal combo comes flashing in.

The wounded mage attempts a desperate spell, trying to seek out and snuff Macros's lifeforce, but the thrust of power through his body is too much, at this second, and he slumps unconscious, doing the rest of the work, his unleashed elemental still screaming in rage as it is trapped by Naomi, and likely to be no happier with her.

The spirit vanishes as Naomi manages to see it off back to its original plane - for now. But in any case, with Tim and Hueng both unconscious, it seems, and in comparatively short, sharp bursts of excitement, the equipment renders itself vulnerable to Macro and his staff, and any other efforts of the team.
After an orgy of destruction, which might eventually wake the lady upstairs, it is a relatively quick job to take pictures of the situation, and the extent to which Tim is rendered impotent. And, of course, with the mage unconsious, that Watcher is unlikely to be of much use reporting to an unconscious mage, as well.
Naomi shakes her head slightly as the elemental rages against her grasp, flaring up as its controller is knocked out by his own power. "Enough. Begone." She gestures her hand as though dismissing it and, with a roar of flame, the fiery figure disappears. "Well, time to wreck this place, then? Get the mage out of the basement and I think I can do a decent job of it."
Posh nods to Naomi. "Good call," she says. "We haven't killed anyone yet, and if you can do a good quick job, that'd be grand." She moves over and nods to Macro, so that the two can move the mave out of the line of fire…or whatever it is Naomi has planned, as it's likely quicker and more complete than manual destruction.
Macro nods, holsters his staff and picks up the mage easily with his free hand before walking up the stairs to the living room.

Naomi backs up as well, going to the top of the stairs and looking down. With a gesture, a small ball of light forms in her outstretched hand, then flashes down the stairs, filling the basement with a blinding light. Once it's clear, she walks down and shifts her perception to the astral, cleaning up the lingering traces of her spell on the astral, but in the physical, the basement and its contents are quite devistated.
Macro takes a moment to look admiringly at the damage Naomi's spell caused. "I think that'll do it," he mutters. "Right, job done, let's get out of here before anyone comes checking what happened…"
Posh takes a few snaps of Naomi's handiwork. "Right," she says, a little singed but otherwise whole. "I suppose there's that thing where you remove evidence of your magic, right? The…Cleaning? Sweeping?" she asks. "In any case, that sort of thing is more your expertise than mine."
Half a minute later, Naomi nods. "Everything's clean. Time to go. May as well use the front door, now. Not like anyone's going to stop us."
Posh nods. "Very well." She directs the van to swing around to the front door, where it will wait, side door open, for everyone to hop in now and upload the proof of destruction to Suen Qiang's associate.
Naomi gives a nod to Posh. "Cleansing. But, that's done, too." She smiles as the van pulls up on its own. "Nice trick. I have to send someone for my car." She climbs in the van, ready to make the getaway.
Posh gives a grin. "Well," she says. "I send it text based commands input via virtual keyboard to the pocsec, then routed via connectd taccoomm. It's a little clunky, but it does the trick to get directions to the autonav…sometimes it reroutes rather poorly." She looks a little sheepish.
In any case, given that it's a relatively safe area without a distress or alarm properly tripped the conveyance slides smoothly into the night, leaving the ruins of the ritual equipment and the two unconscious Black Crysanthemums ready to…perhaps lick their wounds, and try to conceal their humiliation.
