The Briefcase

Who: Darius (GM), Simon, Shoeshine
Time: Tue Sep 4 08:34:59 2072
Summary: Shoeshine and Simon are hired to transport a briefcase to an office building in the UCAS sector, from the FTZ. Along the way, they have to contend with border checks, and a group of enemy runners who want the case. Unknown to the players, the case contains a datachip of information on Nadja Daviar, VP and front runner for the UCAS Presidency. This plot ties into the current election metaplot.

«Time» The current IC time is: Tue Sep 4 08:34:59 2072
«Plot» Darius says, "Alrighty, I'll need consent from you guys to ICA=ICC. I don't plan on killing you. But it might happen."
«Plot» Shoeshine says, "I give consent to reasonable consequences to my sometimes unreasonable actions."
«Plot» Simon says, "I consent to ICA=ICC and running away if need be, mind controlling shoe to valiantly stand behind and give his life for me."

The runners get word from their Johnson, Fixer or Informant that a J is looking for bodies to run a task. Rumour is, its a transport job. However they hear about being selected for the job, they're asked to meet at a service station on the I-25, just before the Ute border, on the edge of the FTZ. Upon arriving, they are met by a well-dressed and groomed orkish gentleman who directs them to a particular lot in the car park.

Simon has a large duffel, its huge in fact, but its oddly shaped Whats in it is hard to say, but its slung over his shoulder as he walks through the parking lot towards the particular spot in question.

Shoeshine hms, station on the I-25. That means they will meet just before they go in. That lays this down as a BYS mission. That means Bring Your Shit. You don't get to go home, you don't get to pick up crap. He selects an appropriate loadout for such a thing and strolls up in his Warrens duds, with his large shoeshining valise.

«OOC» Darius says, "What are you carrying and how are you getting here?"
«OOC» Darius says, "And from where?"
«Plot» Simon says, "I'll take a taxi from CAS coffin motel I live in. I'll get off at least ten blocks away and walk the last bit."
«Plot» Simon says, "Gear: Helmet and Riot Shield in giant bag slung over shoulder. Expendable Spell foci worn on charm bracelet on wrist. No weapons. Taccom in my pocket"
«Plot» Simon says, "Goggles"
«Plot» Shoeshine will have on his person two pistols, two sets of gloves, his polymasks and disguise kitting, a variety of sneaky gear. Inside the valise and disguised is his tricked out minigrenade launcher. The fact that he doesn't have his LMG means that he will need it, but for now, it's at home.

The contact in question has little information about the job, besides the location of the meet and that they will be carrying some kind of package. As the meet is in the FTZ, getting in is not an issue. Getting back out might prove more interesting, depending on the direction of travel.

In the car lot, an unassuming Americar rolls down its passenger side window when the pair of runners arrive. A mixed-race human in shades sits there. "Just the two? Hmm. Ok. Get in, we're going for a drive."

Shoeshine says, "Not exactly my usual proposition." But he gets in cheerily. After all, he knew he was going for a meet. "Hiya!" he introduces himself. "Folks call me Shoeshine." It might have something to do with the valise he's carrying that has the microfibre shoeshining rags and little vials of chemicals and the odd footrest on the side.

Simon says nothing, just climbs in the back.

Shoeshine can scrunch in the back with his bag on the floor and his feet not reaching.
From afar, Pyre nods

Simon squeezes his riot shield in front of him, ohh well, it helps stop bullets aimed at Mr. Jay that go through him and try to hit Simon.

When the two get into the vehicle, it becomes apparent that the rear compartment they are settling into is separated from the front by bulletproof glass. Probably not an unusual arrangement when one is inviting runners into their vehicle. It soon pulls out of the lot- a rigger plugged into the driver seat. The Mr. J speaks, his voice conveyed by a closed-circuit speaker into the rear compartment. "You can call me Smith." He offers in response to Shoeshine introducing himself. No comment on Simon. He remains quiet for a few moments as they pull out of the service station, and begin driving along the I-25. That well dressed orc is following them in another Americar. "Sorry for the cramped conditions. Limousines tend to draw attention." he informs the pair. "The job is simply. I have a briefcase, I need you two to transport it to a colleague of mine, in the UCAS Sector. The case is sealed, and it must remain that way."

Simon clears his throat. "Does the case have any way for it to be detected and cause us legal issues? Or is opening the case the only method to determine its contents. I am not saying I'll open the case, but I'd rather not carry around something sending out a signal the cops can track down."

Shoeshine asks, "Biologicals, chemicals, explosives, anything like that? Does he know he's receiving this package from you?" Shoeshine has no problem with bulletproof glass. The only bulletproof glass they could mount on an Americar he could punch through. (Well, he'd punch the glass and the Americar would fly into pieces around it.)

«Game» Backup to offline storage commencing. Game may freeze for a bit…

"The case is magnetically shielded and locked. It contains a transponder so that I will know when it gets to its destination- and if it is tampered with. The contents are not illegal in their own right, but there are other parties interested in the case. They know we plan to move it but they should not know when or exactly where. This is why we are hiring you, and not a simple courier service."

Simon nods "A reasonable request. I have no problems with helping you deliver your package." He shifts the riot shield bag slightly, not sure he will need it now, but you never know.

Shoeshine bobs his head. "I'm happy to proceed," he says. Most of the screwjobs he imagines would be illegal to carry.
"Very good. We can drop you back at the service station, or closer to the UCAS border if you prefer." The J tells them. "Oh, and, one more thing. The contents of the case are time sensitive. The sooner it is moved, the better. Today, ideally."

Simon nods "Of course." He looks to Shoe "Did you have transport, or shall we ride this as far as they can take us?"

Shoeshine says "My car is in the shop, so let's take the ride for now."
Shoeshine says "In fact, you should drop me off close to where we picked up."
Shoeshine takes out his pocsec and texts a fixer he knows in code: Want to move a valise over FTZ border into UCAS, standard guns, standard price?"

The man nods, and relays something on a console to the comatose rigger driving the vehicle. They turn off the road, taking a looping rout around to rejoin the I-25 and head back towards the service station. It's not too long before they arrive- at a layby about half a mile down the road. "The case is in the trunk. This as far as we go- you're on your own from here. My colleague will inform me when he receives the case."

«Auto-Judge[]» Shoeshine (#844) has the Contact Konstantin Kuryakin with the following information:
-----> Contact for Shoeshine (#844) <----
Contact Name: Konstantin Kuryakin
Level: 1
Type: fixer
GM Note: Konstantin Kuryakin (no relation to U.N.C.L.E.) is a one-stop shop for guns, ammo, explosives, armour, and the basic tools of the trade. He's also Shoeshine's primary 'handler'… Shoeshine feeds him information and gets the occasional mission in response.

«OOC» Darius says, "Ok, he's not strictly speaking a Smuggler contract so he'll be subcontracting the job to one of his contacts. Roll etiquette, TN 6"
«Auto-Judge[]» Shoeshine (#844) rolls Etiquette vs TN 6:

Simon arches a brow at the texting, but says nothing. He nods and opens the door, stepping out and moving to the trunk to retrieve the case.

«Auto-Judge[]» Shoeshine (#844) rolls Etiquette vs TN 6 for "kp3":

«Plot» Shoeshine says, "Stand."

The Fixer gets back to Shoeshine boy, tells him that the border is too hot right now with the political situation, he doesn't have any operatives that can do the job today- try again tomorrow.

«Plot» Shoeshine will go to where he left his car to drop off his illegal crud to go through the border. No guns, no minigrenade launcher, the illegal stuff is the gloves, in the inside pocket of his jacket.
Shoeshine , assuming he can return, will come back to Simon to ask, "How would you like to play the game?"

Simon shrugs "I say we get a car and simply drive it through. I have a few small tricks should someone try to pursue us, and we can always bail and go on foot to make things more difficult. I think the key is avoiding drawing police attention. The opposition may be able to influence them."

Shoeshine says "Very well. I don't want to pre-emptively screw things up so I'm not taking anything serious through the border. Do you have a clean vehicle for driving through?"

Simon shakes his head. "I have one on order, but its not here yet. I suggest we rent or use a taxi."

Shoeshine says "There's usually plenty of taxis near the border. Go for it."
Shoeshine smiles indeed. He looks about, senses on high alert. After all, if there's a transponder in that case, it's possible that the enemies have already ferreted out the transponder code and could be following them.

Simon simply has his Riot shield in a bag, slung over a shoulder. Its legal, so getting through the checkpoint should not be a problem. The case though should probably go to the dwarf, that way he can claim he is security? Ehh, whatever.

Shoeshine follows along a little behind Simon and to the right. He plays spot-the-sniper, he scopes out cover, he looks for other people carrying concealed firearms, he uses his many sensory modes. He makes no indication to take the case. He thinks it looks much better with Simon.
Shoeshine is not Tres Chic.

Simon sighs and maintains the case, ohh well, perhaps the dwarf will tackle anyone coming for it.

«OOC» Darius says, "Which of you is paying for the taxi, and what SIN are you using?"

There is a great deal of congestion at the border- there always is, but with it being not long after peak rush-hour, and a lot of people coming and going in the sector of late, it's worse than usual. It takes some time for them to reach the checkpoint. So far, everything seems to be going well. The Taxi driver is going on some rant about illegals at the moment.

«Auto-Judge[]» Darius (#9060) rolls 1 (to no one) for "On a 1-2, The vehicle is flagged for a random spot search. (Which will involve a more thorough visual scan and a higher rated SIN checker.)":

There is a great deal of congestion at the border- there always is, but with it being not long after peak rush-hour, and a lot of people coming and going in the sector of late, it's worse than usual. It takes some time for them to reach the checkpoint. So far, everything seems to be going well. The Taxi driver is going on some rant about illegals at the moment.

It also seems like the odd car- about one in ten- is being pulled aside to a separate checkpoint, where the occupants are exposed to a brief visual search and a second SIN screening.

Simon lays his head back on the seat, looking almost like he is taking a nap, though his astral senses are open yet masked so he doesn’t light up. He merely watches cautiously for now, his SIN should hold up fine even if they get stopped.

Shoeshine considers this fairly traditional. He has his story set for the unlikely chance that they not only pull him out, but strip-search him sufficiently to find the minorly illegal gloves that he is not wearing and has concealed in his voluminous pocketage.
Simon probably spots, during their wait, an elemental that is watching the checkpoint- no doubt astrally searching for awakened individuals, itself. It does not seem to take note of him. As they approach the checkpoint, they are not one of the cars selected for random screening as luck has it. Just the standard SIN check for both of them.

«OOC» Darius says, "Alrighty, prove a SIN you will be using for the check."

Both SINs scan through with no issue- apart from the fact both will need a Travel Visa to head into the UCAS sector proper. Once through the checkpoint, they are waved aside to the Visa centre and the Taxi Driver complies unless he's given a very compelling reason not to.

Shoeshine goes to get his day pass visa the way he's done a zillion times before. Even though he's an accomplished actor (or at least the auto-corrector on his Virtual Instructor chip tells him so) he doesn't have to act to look bored as he does it. Still trundling in his position.
Shoeshine in the car if one does it in the car.

Simon will also get a day pass, not really going to be here too terribly long he hopes. He keeps an astral eye about for anything odd, but mostly just tries to look bored.

The processing officer peers at the odd couple, but just shrugs. "Ok, just need you to head through the MAD scanner." he instructs them.

«OOC» Darius says, "List the lowest conceal of anything on your person that might set off a MAD scanner."

Simon complies with the mad scan, having nothing on him beyond the small bracelet with minor expendables. His riot shield is mostly plastic composite

«OOC» Simon says, "Hrm, um, I have a tool laser in my bag. Not even sure if its illegal or legal"

Simon gets through unmolested, but as Shoeshine heads through the MAD scanner, it emits a shrill beep to inform the present guards that Shoe needs to be searched. A bored looking guard sighs and stands up from his chair. "Step this way please, sir, and hold your arms out."

Shoeshine hum de hum de ho's arms out. Good thing no firearms.

Simon returns to the cab, and will await the dwarf there. No sense hanging around here honestly, he was just sharing a cab with the halfer to save a few bucks.

«Auto-Judge[]» Darius (#9060) rolls 5 vs TN 11 for "Searching the Dwarf":
2 2 2 9 10 = 0 Successes

The guard has to practically kneel to pat down the dwarf, which annoys him slightly. But he does pat him down, and finds nothing. Eventually he nods to the other guard, and then gestures for the dwarf to continue on his way.

Shoeshine says, "Thanks much," in his cheery way, and heads on out and back to the cab. Just a day in the life of walking around the big city.

From there, it seems like clear sailing to the office building where they are meeting the contact. No more interruptions along the way- although there is tension in the air. There are more patrols on the ground than usual, and more drones in the air. With the fiasco at the Warpdrive Plaza yesterday, it's no wonder.

Shoeshine stayed far away from that one. Total wackiness. In any case, it's time to be on higher and higher alert. Using his vision mag to zoom in on the sniper positions, and just to zing in on people. Using his Ultrasound to spot wily invisible people. Picking out odd thermal imprints that might indicate a concealed weapon on people coming at him. It's a little cold out so he puts on his gloves and tucks his ears under his babushka hat.
The building itself is a nondescript building, sixteen stories of rented office space. The main lobby is open for business, revolving doors permitting access either way. There are three receptionists sitting at a desk directly opposite the main entrance. The guy they are supposed to meet is in office 308, and the name they have for him is Mr. Clark.
«Plot» Shoeshine says, "Any other identifiers to make sure that he hasn't already been killed and replaced?"

Simon leads the way into the office building. Letting Shoe follow behind for now. He smiles warmly at the receptionist "Excuse miss, I'm here to see Mr. Clark in 308, is he in?"

Shoeshine takes off his hat and holds it as he enters.

«Plot» Darius says, "A physical description was left on a datachip in the trunk of the car. If it's your man, he'll refer to the delivery as a 'package tied with string'"

The receptionist checks on her computer. A moment later she looks up, "He's in a meeting right now, but he has a free spot in his schedule afterwards. He should be about fifteen minutes, you can head up to the third floor waiting room, if you like. Someone will see you to him when he's free."

«OOC» Darius says, "On that note, I need to take a quick break to eat. I'll be about 10 minutes."

Simon nods to the woman. "Thank you miss." He turns and starts towards the elevators, ready to simply head up to the third floor and wait.

Shoeshine says to Simon, "Hey, tubbo. Get some exercise over here." He heads down the hall to the stairway.

Simon frowns slightly, but follows the dwarf and uses the stairs. Mental note, do something unpleasant for the tubbo remark.

Shoeshine will actually be listening deeply ahead, and taking the stairs quietly - now he's going ahead of Simon, but in a natural way as per their interplay. (Also using his hearing to see if the receptionist, like, talks into her commlink aloud saying, "They're coming up the stairs!")
The receptionist does nothing of the sort, although the phone rings and she answers it as they head up. Shoeshine can hear her giving the usual company greeting before they move out of range. The third floor is ice enough, but bland- neutral, like most rented office buildings. The waiting area consists of two rows of bench-style seats either side of a low table with out of date magazines.

Simon waits in the waiting area, after alerting any receptionists here that he is waiting to see Mr. Clarke in 308. That done he settles down in his chair, this is probably more paranoia than actual work today.

Shoeshine does not sit, but he does listen through doors and walls and like that to attempt to detect if things are out of place.

«OOC» Simon says, "But the code word thing, what were we told to do if the guy gives us the wrong code?"
«OOC» Darius says, "Oh. This is what I get for making it up on the fly. There's a dead drop to leave the case if shit goes south."

Another guy gets off the elevator, also with a briefcase and heads on over to sit down near the other two in the waiting area. He sets the case on the seat next to him, and picks up a magazine to read.

On the astral: The man has cyberware- a fair amount of it, mainly in the brain, and he appears to be mundane. He is tense.

In the physical, Shoeshine notices something- the briefcase has a small, concealed hole on the side. About 9mm across. The man's hands were shaking slightly when he picked up the magazine. He's nervous, yes, but this was more than just a nervous tremor. He is sweating.

And then he speaks: "So, uh… you guys have the package? The one tied with a bow?" He says, from behind the magazine.

Shoeshine goes over to the guy with the briefcase. To stand close enough to engage if he plays briefcase-shooting games. "Hey, that's a nice briefcase. I've heard about those. Do you find them reliable?"

Simon lets Shoe take care of this, but he holds onto the briefcase. Apparently someone else knows about the bow, but orders were to delivery to Mr. Clark, so Simon simply says nothing.

"Reliable, what?" The man asks, and then glances down. "I guess. Keeps my stuff safe, and I can take it anywhere I like." He says then. "So, are you going to give me this package?" He asks a bit more directly.

Shoeshine says, "No, no, I mean," and here he is actually going to pick up the man's briefcase because his hand is not on it, fast and smooth and unexpected as he speaks, trying to beat the man's reaction while his words distract him, "your Ares Executive Protector here." He is going to pick it up with his right hand, the hand he has his induction pad on, to see if it will interact with the smartgun link that might or might not be there.

Shoeshine knows that few people actually lock their induction pads to their own code. It costs money and makes the firearm less reliable. He doesn't.

Simon gasps in surprise, his vision going astral as he gestures with one hand. Thats not nice! (Sign Language Centering). The gestures look innocent, but it helps him focus his mind and draw mana routing it into the aura of the briefcase fellow to deliver a magical stun.

People are panicking. They are starting to flee their offices. A few of them made it down to the stairs, before the door swings shut and locks. More still are scrambling at the elevators which are likewise locked down. The guy with the briefcase collapses into a huddle on the ground, slipping out of his seat after the punishing attack.

Simon looks around, then heads over to the unconscious guy, he hands the real case to Shoe. "Look for our man." He says quietly, then reaches down. Shaking the shoulder of the unconscious briefcase man, You ok? He signs at him. (Going to cast mind probe with centering, that ok?)

Shoeshine strokes his hands down the guy, moving at zoomlike speeds in the darkness. It's the Warrens roll - hidden guns, wallet, credsticks. The Executive Protector he leaves lying there for the cops. If he nabs any valuables to transfer he does so. Then he looks towards the doorway, for our man to exit right on cue, so he can settle in right beside him.

«OOC» Simon says, "Can I do a mind probe on the unconscious dude?"

Strangely, the door to office 308 remains closed.

«OOC» Darius says, "You still have enough successes for recent memories. What are you looking for?"
«OOC» Simon says, "What was his mission here, does he know where MR. Clark is, and is he working with anyone (The lights thing was too perfect timing)"

Simon focuses his mind, drawing mana energy with some difficulty to reach into the mans unconscious mind. Finally he gets in, outside, his meet is still shaking the fellow. "You ok sir?" He says, while his mind reaches for answers in the other mans head.

The man's unconscious mind is a blur, swimming with the darkness of unconsciousness. Simon manages to probe past the mists of his dreams and into his recent memories. Surgery, something in his head, something he's afraid of. He didn't want this job, but he has to do it. The case is important, it has something to do with Nadja Daviar. The guy doesn't know what. There's a decker on the job. In a van outside. And another guy. He's in the office, with Mr. Clark.

Simon reaches to get names, names of the decker in the van and what the van looks like, and the name of the guy in the office with Mr. Clark.

Decker goes by Shade. Not a real name. The guy had never heard of it before. Probably cooked it up for this run. Guy in the office is- Suddenly, it's like a flashbang detonates inside Simon's head. The guy he's shaking spasms wildly, before blood starts pouring from his ears, nose. Cranial Detonator.

Simon sighs and stands up, then looks to Shoe. He whispers as best he can "Someone’s in the office with Clarke. They die if they fail, they wont go quietly." He then sends a telepathic command to his ally, come to me, go outside, find this decker in a van.

Shoeshine hands the target briefcase to Simon, picks up the Executive Protector, and now sees if it interacts with his induction pad.

«OOC» Darius says, "Alrighty, your ally will take a while to find the guy. There are several vans."

Shoeshine , with the Executive Protector in hand, the crosshairs swooning across his vision (it's not set to use the same cursor as his usual Predator or LMG) heads to the door. He mimics the other guy's voice, saying, "I'm coming in, we have to get out of here," and forces the door. He does it by gripping the handle hard and grinding it through the turn with super-strength, possibly breaking the lock, or if that doesn't work, just shouldering the lock out of the wall. Most interior doors are just not built to handle him.

Office workers are desperate enough to begin trying the windows, now, but they're locked too.

«OOC» Darius says, "Not well enough for a surprise test. The door is, infact, locked. Are you going to break through?"
«Plot» Shoeshine says, "yes, I am going to bust through the door."
«Auto-Judge[]» Shoeshine (#844) has the Attribute Strength with the value '8 (12)'.

Shoeshine 's straining of the lock plus his shoulder-bump (all low to the ground and perfectly braced) is enough to pop the doors lock out through the material for him to come in through, moving and looking. He hopes that the briefcase he has in hand is, in the dark, confusing to the enemy.

Simon turns to watch Shoe head for the door, and decides to cover him with spell defence in case it becomes necessary, both of them covered he will keep an eye on shoe, but not charge the room like him.

The door shatters as Shoe's shoulder impacts it, raining tiny cubes of safety glass down on him. Instantly, he will see two men in the room- someone matching Mr. Clark's description- and a tall ork using him as a human shield. He has a ceramic blade in the hand that's not pinning Mr. Clark, held to the man's throat. "Not one step closer." he warns. "I have a proposition for you."

Shoeshine carefully says, "I'm listening." And he holds very very still. Of course, that means that he is steadying and aiming his disguised briefcase perfectly in the dark, taking all the time he needs to zero in for a called shot to the ceramic knife. Let's hope that that fellow outside upgraded to the smartlink 2.

Simon is in the hall, with a view of Shoeshine but not the ork. Let the man think its just one person if the decker hasn't comm'ed him. He keeps spell defence up, and take a moment to clean his signatures off of the dead guy.

"You don't care about this man, or the regimen he's working for. He's just a paycheck." The ork asserts, backing up a little bit towards the windows behind them. "By now, someone must have called the police. You don't want to be here any more than I do when they arrive. My employers can double what you've been offered. All you need to do, is hand over the case." Mr. Clark tries to speak- "Please you-" but he's cut off as the ork presses the blade a little harder against his neck. "Hand over the case and walk away." the ork repeats.

Shoeshine talks like a real shadowrunner now. "I want to see your cred and I want to hear a number. Talk is big if you want the case."

Simon remains in the hallway, not doing anything yet. He cleans up his signature, then moves slowly closer to the edge of the door, so he can peek in if need be."

The Ork scowls at Shoeshine, "I don't make a habit of bringing cred with me on a job. But I'll make you another offer- I kill this chummer, then I kill you, and take the case anyway."

Shoeshine shrugs. "If you don't wanna buy the case, okay. Take it." He lofts it in an easy toss to the guy, using the height of the ceiling to get a nice, lazy arc designed to attract the guy's eye.

Shoeshine draws the ork's counterattack successfully, getting him to extend his arm out, and down to reach. That lets him grip and crank, short and fast, electric hands jolting down. It's transitory, momentary before he gets all tight again and hauls that arm back in, but Shoeshine is an escrima fighter, he takes what he can get.

"No!" yells Mr. Clark as the dwarf tosses the case, and everything goes in slow motion. The ork shoves Clark towards Shoeshine to try and slow his advance, and he drives the knife towards the incoming knuckle. The blade jut barely misses the space between his knuckles, and grazes along the top of his arm instead. "You're quick. But not quick enough." He muses. He moves in with a knee towards Shoe's chest, before attempting to plunge the blade into the ork's shoulder from his taller vantage point. The strike impacts his side and he twitches at the electric shock.

Simon sticks his head around the doorway at the sounds of conflict, and gestures in sign \You can't touch this\. A wall of force is created from the mana in the room, separating Clarke from the two fighting figures, dwarf vs ork, David vs Goliath Grab a rock.

Clark spots Simon at the door, and his eyes widen with realization. He makes a break for the exit.

Simon holds out the briefcase for Clarke :)

The ork does a double take. Looking at the case that Simon is offering to Clark, and back at the one that was tossed into the room. "NO!" He yells, mirroring the earlier shout from Clark. He takes a step back from show and hurls the blade- which hits the shield which Simon put up earlier. The ork, clearly enraged, decides to bullrush shoeshine. But the little dwarf is too nimble for him. He's not taking a lot of damage in this fight, but slowly, surely, shoeshine delivers a death of a thousand cuts or- well- tases. Meanwhile, in the car lot…

The ally spirit has found the decker. He's in the back of a van, which has had its storage space converted into a mini computer room, complete with wireless transmitters. The decker is slumped over, a pistol loosely gripped in one hand on his lap, lost in the machine.

«OOC» Darius says, "Ok, we'll 'scene switch' to the van. Shoeshine is beating up the ork in the mean time."

Note: Simon's ally spirit pulls the decker's jack out. He is in an orange-6 host so this deals 6S stun damage.

«OOC» Darius says, "Alrighty. We can assume that your ally spirit keeps him occupied for now, and switch back to the office building."

Meanwhile, back in the office. People are flooding out of the recently opened fire escape. The Ork is clutching his side, beaten and bruised by the Dwarf who by now is probably pretty tired, but in much better shape. "Damnit…" the ork grunts as the emergency lights come on. The rest of his team seems to have abandoned him, or are dead, and he knows when he's beat.

Shoeshine is making tags, getting in, shocking and stunning and hitting. The ork is tough - maybe he should have worn his hardliners. He does fight for endurance too, and it will take more than a few seconds of fighting to tire him. That being said, their combat has devolved from expertise into hyperspeed desperation manoeuvre, drawing back on their pure skill and their armouring in an attempt to grind each other into the pavement.

The Ork takes two more blows, with each blow his defence gets sloppier, and these two hits are much more punishing than the first few. They drive him back, and drive the wind out of him. "Uh… huh…" the ork pants. "Maybe you are quick enough."

Shoeshine says, "Punch the window, take a dive," Is he giving the ork advice? Maybe he doesn't want to knock this guy out and have his cranial disruptor explode him. He's a good sparring partner.
Shoeshine knows it's three stories. He looks like he can take it. Also, it would be a lovely distraction for the cops while they make their escape. It's a win-win!

The Ork seems to consider it, glancing back at the window a moment. "This isn't over, dwarf." He grunts, and then- does indeed follow the advice. He slams an elbow back into the window, and shatters it before leaping out. He lands on a car, crumpling the roof and shattering the windshield. Rolls off it, clutching what appears to be a dislocated shoulder, and takes off.

Simon releases his barrier Spell, looking to Clarke. "Um, there was a package yes? Had something on it right?"

"Tied with a string." the man responds. "I'll let Smith know it was received. You should go, I doubt you're interested in speaking to Knight Errant."

Shoeshine does not attack him as he flees. Maybe he could, maybe he couldn't. By the time he turns, Simon has taken down the wall. How nice of him. He shucks off his gloves and tucks them in the inside pocket of his overcoat. And he will join the group of people exiting the building. "Do you wish to leave as well? The whole building is going." He is on the move.

Simon nods and hands the case to Clarke. "Well dwarf, I suggest we mingle with the fleeing crowds." He pauses a moment, erasing the signature from the barrier spell.

«Auto-Judge[]» Simon (#6474) rolls Sorcery vs TN 2:

«Auto-Judge[]» Simon (#6474) rolls Willpower vs TN 2:

Shoeshine mingles! He drifts. He wanders.

Simon cleans his signature, then heads for the stairs with Shoe, looking to get lost in the crowd and get out of the place. He takes a moment to change his physical mask spell to give him a different look, and a slightly different colour suit.

Shoeshine just deep breaths, calms, relaxes. Life is good. He looks up, a little curious. It strikes him that curious is a good look. Why are we evacuating? Is there a fire? My my. Join the herd. (And keep an eye on Clarke if he is coming with us, but it seems unlikely that there's a fourth we don't know about yet.)

Clarke does a decent job of blending with the crowd- if he's worried about another member of the team, he doesn't seem intent on relying on the shadowrunners for protection.
