GM: Mafen
Players: Tailpipe, Air, Selene
Synopsis: Three runners raid a military base.
Date: 2070 Apr 20, around 1 24 hour period.
01:50 PM Previous Day: Meeting with Mafen.
4:15 AM: The three runners pass borders, with Tailpipe held invisible, and ditch Air's (legal but registered to a fake SIN) car on the side of the road. Both Selene and Air's fake SINs pass by the border checks with little scrutiny.
4:25 AM: A heavily armed citymaster bringing in workers comes along, and the personell by Selene's summoned great form spirit.
4:35 AM: ATVs are dispatched from base to deal with the strange encounter. They patrol the area but only find the abandoned car. Selene, Tailpipe, and Air are invisible and laying on top of the vehicle, having snuck up during the confusion.
4:50 AM: The vehicle arrives. The workers are unloaded and an officer then parks the vehicle in an underground parking garage. Air spooks him while invisible while he goofs off and smokes a cigarette when he shouldn't be doing so. He flees, but is unwilling to go and tell people that he was hearing voices.
5:10 AM: The group enters an elevator, using a found RFID tag.
5:11 AM: A security rigger notices the door open and the auth for the tag. Air hacks the console and pretends to be the person on the tag; This far out strategy manages to seem to work, at least for th etime being. The runners park themselves in the maintenance corridor for the self-contained, drone-maintaned power plant for the next 5 hours.
12:00->1:00 PM: 1 hour and 30 minutes until the drop-off of goods. A maintenace drone pops out of the nuke plant, slow, bulky, and lacking in sensory equipment. Air steals a magkey from it and they enter the nuke plant. Quickly, they cause damage to the drones and raise an unauthorized access alarm, but the techs assume it is a powerplant malfunction of some sort, as moisture levels and auxillary pressure begin to rise when Selene causes a rainstorm within the room. They dispatch a team to check it out. All runners lift into the ceiling hatch for the maintenance drones and find themselves under the server room.
1:10 PM: 20 minutes to go. After waiting in the unmonitored cooling area on the raised server floor, they carefully stunball the techs, causing them to pass out in their chairs. Air quickly hacks the console and searches for any paydata, sets up a command set to distract the guards while disabling other alarms and deletes all info about the shipping manifests to further confuse the issue.
1:15 PM: A hearth great form spirit is summoned, and conceals the group as they exit the server room. They pass through the office without drawing any attention, and head out to the runway.
1:30 PM: The UAV and 2 thunderbirds land. Packages are unloaded. The alarm goes off, and 15 of the 20 guards respond to the crisis, while the remaining 5 help with the unloading. A stunball + 2 concussion grenades manages to knock out the guards even with the 11 impact armor from their heavy milspec, but it draws attention. Both thunderbirds prepare to launch, and Tailpipe leaps into the thunderbird and manages to push the doors open. Air and Selene and and Selene levitates the loot boxes into the thunderbird.
1:33 PM: Tailpipe intimidates the hell out of the pilot and co-pilot, and the Thunderbird is hijacked. The other thunderbird begins pursuit. A heated dogfight begins.
1:34 PM: Air disables the IFF and termination chips from within the vehicle, relying on the Radar Absorbent Materials to help mask the ship from sensors.
1:38 PM: A perfectly aimed Superflash grenade from Tailpipe detonates right in front of primary sensors and the cockpit on the other Thunderbird during the dogfight. The other ship's sensors are fried and the ship spins out of control, crash-landing with minimal damage in UCAS territory.
1:44 PM: The Thunderbird lands in the UCAS Warrens, the pilots escorted out and the ship given to the AAC as a favor. This is a 3 million =Y= favor, but since it's super hot merchandise while the gang is appreciative it's not like the runners could have kept the Tbird. The three packages are unloaded and go with the team, picked up by one of Pulse's drivers. Run complete.
Technical deceptions
UCAS Warrens - 1435 CST - Low Security Area, That Funky Medieval Bar
There's a soft chime to your pocsec; A certain anonymous, throwaway email account given to you at some point by an elf named Mafen noting a proposal for work, encrypted with your own little private keys included on the original playing cards handed out to make it easy to reach you. It details the meet — the new, medieval themed strip bar in the UCAS Warrens. It details a reward: 50,000 to each of you. And it requests you come ASAP.
Selene finds her way to the strip club, it's not that far from home after all, under cover of invisibility and levitate - would hate for the gangers to just be able to see all that tempting elf hotness. She drops both, and walks into the Dungeon, dressed for a business meeting, rather than pleasure.
Air sighs at the message, the fuckin' Dungeon again? Meets never go well for him in there. Whch is why he loads up his heavy pistols, slips on some almost discreet armour and then stands in front of the mirror. Making sure the pistols and the stun baton dangling under his jacket are obvious to anyone. When he arrives at the Dungeon, it's on his vintage '86 Kawasaki Ninja, all black with ninja stars paint job. Tossing a credstick to a couple of gangers hanging around he nods to the bike, "Keep an eye on it and you'll get double that when I'm finished in here." Then he steps into the Dungeon, looking a little disgruntled in general.
Air spends 1000 nuyen for "Gangers.".
Tailpipe is surprised at the delivery of the card. She has no idea what to do with it until one of her ganger buddies looks it over and hooks her up with the info. "One hell of a job if they paying that much. If you don't come back, I get yer stereo, right?" the ganger asks, which promptly gets him a smack upside the head from TP.
"Da. You get stereo. But if coming back and took already, is tearing dick off and stuff up yer own ass." She says with a laugh, serious or not is hard to tell. With that she gathers up her usual run and gun supplies, loads up her bike and heads towards the strip bar mentioned. Upon reaching the joint she gives it a once over and shakes her head. "Stupid theme." She mutters as she locks her trike down and moves to walk in, the lure of money more than enough to make her ignore the crappy setting.
Selene makes her way through the club, dodging dancers and waitstaff, until she finds the correct table and takes her place near the other potential runners.
Up on stage, Diana spins around the center pole, gyrating her hips in a lewd grind.
Air scratches a finger over one eyelid as he looks around the club in some kind of huff. Mean look sticking to his face and he threads around towards the same table as Selene. Making himself known to the occupants simply by his presence standing there before seating himself, and keeping his silence.
Selene smiles warmly at Air when he sits down.
Air rolls his head around on his neck and smiles thinly back to Selene, with a quiet note, "Meetings always go badly in here."

Up on stage, Diana bends over and shakes her ass, looking between her knees at the crowd.
Tailpipe finaly finds the rest of the group, some she even recognizes as she claims a pair of chairs for herself. "Skinny slitches on dem poles." She comments as she settles in, looking at the others while adjusting herself. "Music lousy too." She mutters while pulling out a stub of cigar and lights up, puffing out thick acrid smoke before she's happy with the tips glow.
Mafen's seated in one of the dark, large booths, a small portable WNG turned on and sitting at the table. He's got a large basket of fries from somewhere, and sipping on what looks like a tall glass of water, fiber-optics hooked up a pocsec. He hasn't seemed to notice the team yet, probably waiting for them to sit.
Up on stage, Diana turns sideways, in profile, cocks one leg out and runs a finger along the line of her thigh.
Air cocks his head and pats at one ear, "Those things are… really irritating." He doesn't explain what he means, but a finger is stuffed into an ear and finally he gives up and simply scowls again.

Selene sits down, smoothing the skirt of her suit.
Tailpipe is already settled down, spread across two chairs and puffing her foul smelling cigar through grinning lips. "Is good night make cash though. Be glad to do it."
Mafen snacks on a fry, nodding at Selene, Air, and Tailpipe as they sit. "Nice to see you all here. I have a bit of a serious job up for grabs, a little acquisition run, shouldn't be too hard for people of your caliber. There's a UCAS UAV depot about 30 miles northeast into UCAS territory." He slides a pocsec over, slotted with a chip and a dataport for easy transfer. "They're receiving a shipment of electronic deception modules in about 22 hours. I'd like to acquire those modules for… testing and analysis. You can acquire them anyway you'd like, as long as you do. The total payout is 150,000 =Y=, and I'll give a 25k bonus if you can do the mission without sounding an alarm."
Selene looks over Air's shoulder, to see the display on the pocsec.
Air slides a datacable out of the sleeve of his jacket and plugs it to the pocsec, leaving himself jacked to it as he slides it across a little for the others to look. Himself reading the data stored there via image link in his eye. "Shipment, by air I assume then." He tuts for a moment, "That means getting into the depot itself. Interesting."
Up on stage, Diana fondles herself, a hand dipping under the hem of her panties in a teasing motion.
Mafen nods. 'Automatic. Redbull Express Aeroquips. Escorted by two thunderbirds.'
Selene asks, "what do we know about the security of the depot? Any details of how those fliers operate? schedule, etc?"
Mafen grins, pointing at the pocsec. "I have detailed files."

Tailpipe doesn't reach for anything except a handful of Mafen's fries. The details is for others to work out. Hers is to be pointed and hope no friendlies are in her way. "So, is in flyers? NO so easy to deal with." She says around a mouthful of fries, cigar sending out a lazy trail of noxious smoke where it hangs from the corner of her mouth.

There are 5 watchtowers at the corners, each having a pair of guards in it. Automated aerial drones, 2, do recon at a high altitude, looking for sensor signatures."

Air examines the layout of the depot, inspecting whatever Mafen has here on the physical security of the base, probing his mind, that knowledge is a little rusty back there, and corporate specialised, not military. But some things are universal. "We just need to find a weakspot to get in and out, let them deliver the stuff right to our hands."

Air ponders all this, "Perhaps there's an easier way, if I can insert our details in the civvy company database and we intercept those fellers heading in. We can simply walk in. Of course then we're on a schedule that might not work for the delivery of the parts we want." Suddenly he turns back to the big J, "You got a sat link program for a deck I could borrow? Not got around to it yet." Then his eyes unfocus again as he examines the data some more.

Air curses quietly in a foreign language, "Shit, I have most of the gear, just not the code. Alright, well I could still swap our details for those of the next group of people going in, so we assume their names and whatnot but it would require a decent trix link. Otherwise we have to risk those motion sensors on the fences, which may suck quite a bit."
Selene hmmms, "Well, you know anyone that can get that gear for you? on loan or something? Or maybe we can just toss a little cash to a decker somewhere, for the service?"
Tailpipe eyes the others, all muttering to themselves about plans and things. "Is thinking not working, less you get dem to accept us eye scans and shit.
Air nods to both the others. "That's what I planned to swap, our retinals and dna info to their current employee records. So their guys wouldn't work, we'd have their names with our prints attached." He shrugs, "I just don't like the idea of trying to beat that security system from the outside. If we could get to the control room or something." He runs out of steam again, "This is all a little new to me. So I'm open to suggestion here. I could always try and get the code through a SIN decker I know."
Tailpipe shrugs. "Is not happy wit dat plan. Means going in unarmed."

Air glances at Tailpipe and nods, "Yeah, I can't get you a ceramic grenade launcher, that's true. That means we need to figure a way past the security systes. Can we fly over them?" This last directed to Selene.

«Plot» Mafen says, "AFAIK, the motion sensors do not go more than 10-20 meters over the fences. There are aerial drones with sensors that keep a watch on the base."
Selene nods, "It would take some time, but yes. I could get you over the fences one at a time. Difficult, but entirely doable."

Selene says "more difficult if I am trying to hold invisiblity on you at the same time, but I believe it could be done. Tailpipe would be most difficult, as she is largest."
Air scowls at the air cover, "I have the signature of a troll when it comes to drones. Maybe I could get a rush order on some thermally dampening suits for us though… Then we could fly right past the drones."
Tailpipe eyes Air at that. "If you be albe to do that in less than half day, be paying you for suit personally."
Air scratches his head, "I don't really know any good armour suppliers…" Then he shakes his head, "Not really possible, not for anything worth it. It's have to be full suits to do the job properly, and they can take a week without the thermal treatment."
Air hmms, "Ok, how about this. Selene conceals me and gets me inside, then I can disable one of the sensors, and we can bring you people in under the radar so to speak? It'll be difficult, but slipping one of us in very slowly over the fence won't be too hard, right?"

Air gets onto his cellphone and arranges a drop off somewhere in the Warrens with the crazy religious fixer, Roman Johnson. With that sorted he looks back, "Stuff can be picked up in about 6 hours. I think that's our best plan yes." Then he glances back at the info, checking the sensors that scan outside the fenced area.

Air nods to his fellow runners, "So we're decided. Sneaking in via the civilian transport. I'll get my car and meet you at the UCAS/CAS border crossing 3 in a few hours with our transport." With that he gets up, with nod to Mafen as the meet comes to a close.
Tailpipe looks a little confused but shrugs, picking one of the runners to follow and staying with them until the time to start comes.
Selene nods, "good to be doing business with you again, Mafen." she says, as she rises. "I need to pick up an item or two from home, then I'll be right there."
Air heads off back to where his car is parked after tossing the gangers the agreed double pay on finding his bike safe. Switching to a flashy silver beemer and getting Tailpipe bundled into the backseats before heading to collect Selene and then onwards, for a short 30 mile journey to near the civilian depot.

Mafen smiles heartily, sliding his empty basket to the edge of the table. He removes a black cigarette from a silver cigarette case and shakes it, the tip starting to glow softly. He takes a light drag and smiles. "Good luck, all.", and clicks the wng off and nods as the group leaves.
Selene picks up her spare armor and clothing, pistol and bullets from home and meets the transport near the border crossing.

Selene murmers softly, and waves a hand casually over TP. She disappears.

Tailpipe makes like pottery and tries not to make much movement or noise during the checkpoints. She's had enough trouble in the past getting through that this is a neat trick she wished she could do for herself.
Air driving through the UCAS border is a breeze as he slips the expensive looking car through. Looking like you have money always helps expedite things, even if you don't grease palms, rich people can make trouble. The powerful car pulls away with a gun of the engine towards it's destination. Air is a pretty good driver, everything considered, using the manual controls and the 4 wheel drive car has no issues with the sandy roads. Pulling off to the side of the road behind a handy bend he parks the carefully, giving Selene the best line of sight to the oncoming traffic as he can.
4:22 AM. Should be along before too much longer now. Still, no sign of the vehicle though. The sky is clear, stars are bright.
Selene leaves the car, but uses it as cover. her spirit friend materializes in the air above her. She waits, and watches.
Air plays some sweet old music in the car, quietly. IT's a selection of Nine's 1900's music. Starting with "Highway to Hell."
It's not long before in the dim light you can see the barely-illuminated vehicle pull forward. In the distance, those with eyemods can notice two figures in the front seat.

The driver gets out, screaming obscenities in spanish, rubbing her eyes, dropping to the ground and beating on the pavement. The driver in the turret suddenly spins and fires off a stream of rounds into a nearby cactus group. There is no more cactus there, and the sound is damn near deafening even at this distance, the flash lighting up the plain slightly like lightning.
Air scrubs a hand over his eyes, "We need that invisibility spell now, and we better get moving over there." With that he steps out of the car. Leaving it parked there, and noting it's location on his orientation system.
Selene nods, and wraps the ruth cloak tightly around her body, and starts working.

Selene starts dancing, a beautiful, slow, sensuous version of a classic belly dance. She raises her arms, and her staff, and … Air disappears. The woman briefly slumps, and then takes a long deep breath and resumes her dance… trying the last on herself.

Selene sways a little on her feet, as she struggles to maintain 3 spells. But it happens. She takes Air's arm, to keep her steady and nods towards the vehicle. "Ok… lets go."
Air waves Tailpipe on ahead, then realises that none of them can see the others. With a quick whisper he agrees, "Let's go, radio's only." Then silences himself, as he leads Selene over towards the truck.
Tailpipe wishes she had a radio, so just goes when the word is given, jogging to the van and starting to scramble onto it while avoiding that nasty little turret.

Selene keeps a hand on Air, as she tries to navigate the desert ground without falling down. This is gonna be a bitch to get up on that van.
The woman on the pavement the other passenger pops out of the door, screaming at the gunner. The whole group seems very confused. The gunner unstraps himself and pulls off his helmet, and starts barking at the two hispanic folks who are not out of the vehicle.
Commlink-Lucky> Air says, "'pipe, you climb up first, I'll pass the witch up to you."

Tailpipe is invisible, so ar the others. She can only guess when they get up onto the roof and waits away from the edge to stay out of thew ay.

Selene finds herself being lifted by Air, and stretches her hands out towards Tailpipe.
The turret guy, just a few feet away, manages to radio to base about the sudden confusion. He nods, slowly, confusedly, and demands that the two driver/passenger people get into the back of the van, while rubbing his temples.
Tailpipe hoists Selene into the air.

Selene is, she hopes, pulled up by Tailpipe's strong arms.
The sound of ATVs approach from the military base.
Possibly actually ATVs too.
Air slips himself up onto the roof of the van and hmms, transducing over comms. «Best drop that confusion now then.»
Selene requests kindly, that the spirit please cease the confusion.
The two most affected suddenly straighten up and shake their head. The female dries her tears. They speak in Spanish, 'What the hell was that?', other comments. The turret operator yells, 'Git in the back! Send Rodriguez and Juan up to the driver compartment."
The laborers switch seats, poping out of the back and moving forward. The ATVs pull up, and start a heavy patrol of the area, a soldier on the front and one sitting facing the rear with an Ares Alpha with underbarrel Ares Antioch, grenades with lime green rings in a bandolier across their chests. Light milspec — scouts.
They spend a long few moments investigating the abandoned car.
«Plot» Mafen says, "Anything incriminating in the seats, in sight within the cab?"
«Plot» Air shakes. "It's my civvy car, never done anything illegal with it. Not even modded."
The scout on the right pulls gingerly on the handle of the abandoned vehicle, facing away as much as possible, and nothing happens. After a moment, the guard shrugs, converses with what you assume is his superior (no words heard, must be radio or subvocal) and then raises the butt of his stock. He smashes in the passenger side window, and roots through the glove compartment, pulling up the digital registration.
Air winces as the guard smashes the window, thankfully nobody can see him do so. «Might be a windy drive home if they don't steal it.»
After a moment of looking at the registration, he shows it to the boss, and the two shrug after a lengthy wait on a radio confirm. He shoves it back in the car, and they hop back on the ATV, waving at the turret gunner. He kicks the cab, and the citymaster starts up again, escorted forward by the ATVs flanking in each direction.
Air keeps his attentions on that triger happy turret gunner. Making sure he doesn't turn around and start blowing invisible things away.
Tailpipe is clinging as well, a fairly solid lump to grip if anyone finds the need considering how little else there will be to cling to.
Before too long, vehicle pulls in through the front gate. The workers file out and through the security scanners, and the guards go through a seperate door, one coming up to wheel the vehicle through. They seem to be in a big rush — It's already 5:10, so the works are late starting the breakfest regimen. In addition to the guards currently on duty, a group of guards are out of armor, doing physical training not far from the runway.
The armored fella gets into the drivers seat, starting up the citymaster and taking it through the gate. No sign of yourself being sighted.
Commlink-Lucky> Air looks around at all the visible guards, "Wanna get off before we park inside, or inside?"

The vehicle pulls forward, coming inside of the garage inside the admin building/control tower. It's run down a ramp, two floors, and then pulled into a spot on a mostly dark and empty parking deck. The guard gets out, steps outside, and removes his helmet, looking around a moment before opening a thigh holster, removing his pistol, and pulling out a pack of cigarettes hidden where the clip would be. He lights one and takes a deep drag, leaning agains tthe citymaster.
Fortunately, great form spirits can cross domains. Selene whispers to the spirit, still following in the astral, "that man down there. Confuse him. Please."
Air slides slowly over the roof of the citymaster and peers down at the guard, «Having a smoke when he shouldn't be. Can we…» Then he hears Selene and grins to himself. Waiting for the spirit to do it's thing."
The guard tilts his head to the side, taking another drag, then takes a long look at his cigarette, eyes widening. "Weird."
Tailpipe still cant' see anyone, so waits for word of what they want to do….until she can't hold herself back anymore. Even as Selene gives the word, she scoots to the edge of the van, preparing to jump down on the hapless guard.
Commlink-Raven> Selene says, "we need to get off this roof, and under cover. I can't hold this very much longer."
Air shifts himself across to the other side of the truck and talks in a normal voice, thick American accent into the empty hallway. "here are designated times for smoke breaks, son."
The kid crushes and eats his cigarette, gulping painfully, grabbing his helmet, 'Sir, yes sir!' He spins around, going a little dizzy and tripping. "Holy…" He looks around, peeking around the citymaster. "What… the hell…"
Air shifts across to another side to repeat the same trick on the confused guard. "Are you still standing there boy?" Adding a note of temper to his voice, hardening it.

Air hmms, «We ca go inside the truck if you want a break, but we'll need to keep the invis going to move around.»

Selene feels around for the edge of the truck, and tries to slowly lower herself down…
It's no problem. It's a short drop, even if it feels like a mile to you while you strain to keep everyone concealed.
Selene drops down, steps back, trips and falls on her ass with a thump.
Air meanwhile is inspecting that Victory AC, «Wish I could take that with me.» Sighing he steps to the side and slides himself off the side of the truck to clump to the deck of the parking garage.
It is a beautiful piece of precision engineering, even if it marred by that idiot firing it for no reason, scuffing up perfectly clean barrels.
Tailpipe jumps down to the ground now that the guard is no longer available to break her fall, hopefully not on any other invisible people. "So…is doing what now?"
Selene puts a hand on Tailpipe this time to lean on and keep track of the troll.
Air checks the time on one of the many tiny images in his eyes, enlarging that one until it is readable. «We have some hours yet for the delivery time to roll around. I'm thinking we'll need to arrange some sort of accident to disguise our leaving. Perhaps we can slag their main computer memory, or the generators or something. That way when we leave with the goods they won't know. Memory would be good, since then they won't even know the stuff is missing.»
Air tabs through the layouts in his eye and locks them into the orientation system, using them to aid his hearing locating 'ware. «Ok, so let's rig some grenades to take out the generators on a timer or something and then work on the host.» Then he notices the locks on the doors, breaking them won't be easy, «Uh, are there any keycards or something in that citymaster?
Selene returns to the citymaster and tries the doors, hopefully they arne't locked. «What am I looking for?»

Amazing. Tailpipe manages to pick out a tiny piece of fragmented plastic, wedged in a single set of fibers on the side of the front passenger seat. Just barely sticking outside it is the small antenna of an embedded RFID tag.
Tailpipe picks the tiny thing up, it hovering of its own apparent accord as she looks at it. "Dis someting useful?"
Of course no one else can see it once she picks it up. "Hand that to Air… see what he thinks."
Selene sighs «Or wave it by the door»
Tailpipe puts the thing on the floor by the trucks door. "Dere, on the floor. See the damn ting now?"
Air awaits patiently by the door, using the time to examine the lock just in case it is required that he hotwire it, or even deck it open. He pats the deck slung to his back to make sure it's still there. It may be coming in useful soon. «Any luck?» The question comes soon, since the wires make him impatient, every second waiting feels like 10 to him.
Selene chuckles, watching this get sillier and sillier, "she found something, put it on the floor. 'lectronic gizmo, maybe with a lil' antenna? Behind you."
Selene leans against the truck, and then slowly slides down into a sitting position. Conserving what she can of her strength.
Tailpipe says "Da. Is like little bug. Need me to squish it?"
Air frowns and turns around, «Sounds promising.» Stepping back he scans around until he finds it, «Don't squish it!» Suddenly it dissapear as he picks it up, «You coulda stepped on me instead.» Turning around he heads back to the door with the little tag.
Air pockets the little bug in one of his velcro pouches. «That worked. Time for us to get moving. Come on.» Stepping into the doorway, effectively blocking it from closing, he peers around.

Selene hears that and almost cries. She stops on the other side of the door to wait for the other two.
Tailpipe follows the invisiable tug, also acting as an armrest for Selene to keep her from collapsing and doing her best to stay quiet. Not quite getting the whole speak on the comms thing.
Air glances around and scowls, «Don't hit a button to move the elevator yet.» Looking around some more he sees if there is anywhere for him to tap into a trix line here. «Shit, are -we- Lt. Druthers? I think we are…»

"Druthers? Anybody down there?" The transmission cuts out, but you have a feeling he isn't just going to assume it was the wind that authed that RF keylock.
Air presses the call button to open comunication with the security rigger while also hitting the elevator to head up to ground level. "Hello? I can't find any malfunction here."
The rigger pops back on. "Ah, weird. I'm not seeing the elevator door open. Obviously some kind of camera fault. We're looking into it, sir, going to have some techs down on the basement soon. Is the elevator working okay, sir?"
Air replies with some more authority thrown into his voice for good measure. "Seems to be in perfect working order, I'll send it back down to the parking level when I step out." «Alright, we aren't using this elevator again.»
The ground level opens up. There's a «Yessir.»
«Plot» Air says, "Do our layouts show where the mainframe is, and the power plant?"
«Plot» Mafen says, "Yep. The powerplant is in the basement, one level down from here, and the mainframe is stored in a raised server room behind another keycard door in the main office area."
Air glances around and curses quietly, hitting the buttons for both levels below. Sending the elevator down to the powerplant and then to the parking garage again. But the runners will be stepping out at powerplant level.
Ding. The door opens up. It's dark — lights are in powersave mode. The signs and designations, for those with low-light, detail that it's a concealed, self-sustaining nuke plant, somewhat like the reactors that plug into nuclear submarines. Lotta power for a small facility.
Selene keeps going, using her astral sight to track both Air and TP, while they are all invisible. Gamely trudging along, she looks around, shifting back to normal vision. «Dunno, man, that's your department. What are you lookin' at?»
Air steps out and drags the others after him, «Now whaddaya make of that? How the hell do we disable this?»
Air grumbles as he steps along, peering at the plant, «I'm no expert, but this isn't your average generator room. WEll, there's gotta be something we can blow off it that will make it stop.» With that he looks around for something, anything. From the main trunk cable out to possible controls.
Air goes to one knee to examine the lock getting out his electronics kit as he does, «Need to do this the manual way.» First he examines it, before trying to pry at anything.
Commlink-Lucky> Air says, "Well, we could try getting in there but… it looks difficult. Maybe we should forget dropping the power out."
Selene glances up, and all around. She's not thinking so well at the moment, none of these systems make alot of sense to her. She shifts her pereception back to the astral.

Air nods back to Selene, «Take a break.»

«Plot» Air says, "We'll head out with say, an hour until it's due. That'll give us some time to prepare something mayhemmy to cover our escape."
«Plot» Mafen says, "Alright. At the 7:30 hrs mark, there's a loud clack from the vault door, and the light flashes green."
«Plot» Tailpipe says, "I'm just here to add to the boomage. Don't have any other skills of use for this :)"

Selene drops the spell, finds a wall to lean against… and slowly slides down into a sitting postition, legs straight out in front of her. Everyone can see everyone now.
«Plot» Air says, "We've still got like 6 hours to wait then."
«Plot» Mafen says, "Erm. That's 7 hrs 30 minutes from now."
«Plot» Mafen says, "Not 7:30"
«Plot» Air says, "So we have 1:30?"
The figures appear in the darkened hallway. Time passes. Slowly, but no one comes. Until about seven hours, thirty minutes later, when the vault door clacks loudly, and the maglock turns green.
Air has arranged himself watching the elevator door, he's not really tired, he had no extreme exertion to carry around so he just waits, hoping nobody comes through the elevator. When the vault starts opening he jumps up with a bit of panic in his eyes. «We need cover!»
The last service she can call upon the spirit for… Selene tries to think quickly…

Tailpipe scrambles to her feet, getting over behind where the door will open as everyone startles at the sudden light. She simply waves the others to press against the walls and hopes there isin't more than one of them coming in.
Air pulls his baton at the last minute, slotting it onto his shoulder as he snugs up where Tailpipe waves.
The door swings out with a creak, and on the rail, a robotic drone crawls along the ceiling rail, a multitude of arms connected to it. Blazoned across the torso of the automaton are the words AZEOCORP NUCLEAR MAINTENANCE AUTOMATON 3.40. It's loud and has heavy armor, but seems absolutely oblivious of you.
Selene gets up, and presses herself against a wall, but keeps her eyes glued on the door.
One arm seems extended with a tiny maglock passkey, obviously the entry device. It rolls along toward the elevator, stopping in front of it where the rail ends.
Commlink-Lucky> Air says, "What the fuck? Do we want to disable this?"
Commlink-Raven> Selene says, "or do you wanna go through that door?"
Commlink-Tailpipe> Tailpipe says, "Is tinking it got key to get to power place, da?"
Air reaches out and tries to snag the passkey off the drone, «We should, in case someone comes through the elevator to meet this drone.»
The drone resists, tugging back when force is applied to it. It doesn't seem to respond to you, but the key is bolted into place.
«Plot» Mafen says, "It would be a simple electronics B/R or drone B/R test to remove the key."
Air grunts and then whips his electronics toolkit out, «Go through the door, I'll bring the key.»

Selene nods quickly, and moves to go through the door…
Tailpipe isn't sure whats going on, so simply follows the group now that there is no face to punch.
Air drops the key into his hand and then slots the bolts back into the arm, making it look haphazard as he darts over to step through the door after the others, hoping to close it and lock it behind them. Since they have the key and all.
The door quickly latches shut behind you. The last thing you see is the drone waving its broken hand by the 'stairs' door, and clacking loudly as it bumps into the closed door. Over and over.
Selene looks around, checking out the new room…
It's… surpisingly compact. Four large pipes, about a half meter in diameter, feed into a large ceramic cylinder emblazoned with the same logo as the drone. The 'floor' seems to be about 3 stories but small, with scaffolds and railings for the drones all around. Two other drones work in the compartment.
«Plot» Mafen says, "So the room is about 10 meters x 10 meters, with pipes snaking into it, then going under the floor, and then scaffolds and railings going up about 40 feet."
«Plot» Mafen says, "The water pipes go both up and down, and you see a service hatch with a ring of light around it at the very top."
«Plot» Selene says, "how bad is the BG count?"
«Plot» Air says, "Anything in here look sabotageable?"
«Plot» Mafen says, "4."
Vulcan has arrived.
«Plot» Mafen says, "Pipes would be the best guess. There's other equipment, mostly built for the drone, but it's definitely a kind of self-contained unit."
Air looks aorund and up and then points, «Way out.» Then he gestures to the pipes, «Got any grenades we could rig for these? It would certainly cause some mayhem.»
«STAFF» Captain Vimes coughs. Wow. three staffers watching.
Selene looks up, looks around, shivers. "We're gettin out up there?" she asks, "How?"
«Plot» Mafen says, "If you have any demolition charge fuses, you could use that to blow a grenade with a demolitions test."
«Plot» Air says, "Any chance of tinkering with one of these drones?"
«Plot» Mafen says, "Sure, there is a chance of it. How's your Drone B/R these days? : )"
«Plot» Air says, "Defaultable."
«Plot» Mafen says, "Well, up to you guys how you wanna do the sabotage. Open-ended. : )"
«Plot» Air considers fiddling with a drone until it's just doing something bad and then leaving. Got no control over it, but… that makes it more fun right?
«Plot» Mafen says, "Kinda like firing a random SMG burst in any direction and hoping it takes out your target, I mean. Maybe the drone will break something, but more likely not? Unless you can really reprogram that bitch."

Air fiddles with the cover on the drone using only an electronics toolkit which isn't up to the job, and some vague memory of a trideo star dioing this sort of thing. He doesn't so so well, getting the cover off but setting that alarm off too, and just as he ducks backwards that lit welding torch swings by where his neck was just moments ago. «Shit.» The transduced voice is perfectly calm as he backs away and scrambles up the nearest ladder, wanting out of this hole.

The woman in the Ruth cloak looks more and more like a bat hovering in air, as a tiny key floats straight up, meeting Selene's hand.

Clak. Whirrr… It slides open, revealing a white area with a ceiling with dotted grills, the sound of a medium-sized, spinning turbine, and lots and lots of cooling fans, pointing upwards. The room stretches out a bit. You hear talking above you, but it's difficult to make out.

Selene swears a blue streak. And suddenly remembers the great form mist nature spirit, still following the group in the astral. She orders up… *rain*. In the nuclear power plant. Spitting rain and fog, like a typical beautiful spring day in Seattle.
Tailpipe grunts and scrabbles for the pipes, more than once slipping on the slick paint covering them. But eventualy she does make it, assisting anyone else through the opening while trying to stay quiet.
Air scrambles up the ladders throwing a kick at the welderbot as it gets close once, and then shimmies up the railing, all greasy and lubracated. Slipping more than one he keeps going, until he can grab Tailpipes hand and get himself dragged out of that hellhole. «Shut it, shut it, shut it.» The transduced voice sounds perfectly calm but the speed at which it repeats the two words indicates it's owner is not.
Water materializes on every available surface; On the walls, the drones, falling from the ceilings, materializing from the air, as if the whole nuclear chamber just became a big cloud. Rivulets flow and flood, causing emergency sump pumps to kick on, reporting pressure fluctuations in the auxilliary circulation pipes. Steam forms in fast hisses as droplets fall on the main steam line, sizzling along at 400 celsius. The water and condensation formed inside the drones quickly causes them to malfunction, the one hot on your tail even detaching from the railing and falling, smashing into the gathering water on the bottom of the changer with a crash.

Tailpipe looks to the others, waiting to see what they want to do. It's taken her a lot of self control not to do shit that would get them in trouble, but with all thats happeend, the stress is starting to show in her eyes and twitchy hands.
Air takes a moment to breathe. «Sounds like we managed something down there. They seem to be processing it in a way they can understand, so we aren't discovered yet. Let's just take 5 minutes break, then move on. We're in the server room, if we can mess this up too, then we're pretty much in the clear to grab our stuff. It's due in about 15 minutes.»

The calm of the area below the server room is palpable. It's… loud, but nice, quiet, cool and despite the torrential downpour below, it's dry here. Peaceful, even, with the two riggers/deckers/nerds having shut up.
Air sits upafter five minutes passes, booting up his cyberware once more, flicking the wired reflexes back on and rolling his head around on his neck. "Ok, probably best not to try and take out the server techs, though we might need to. Fetch, attend me." He calls an air elemental into the astral near him with the last command. "I'll try and tap in among the servers." With that he looks around, locating the techs dow and raising a panel of the floor where a server rack will obscure him.

Tailpipe twitchs a bit more, doing her best to keep still and not go up and knock some heads together. Its getting harder to do, and only the thought of all the milspec out there keeps her in place at the mom ent.

Tailpipe is left behind, to watch the pair of operators on her own through the floor grating and no sign of the others. She grips the MGL tighter against her, rubbing the barrel as she waits for something, anything to happen.
The room is expansive; There's lots of interesting equipment all around, huge hosts, small hosts, etc. But right next to the techs, are all the main access ports. The main inputs to the servers are sealed in place. You'll have to get really close.
Selene isn't entirely sure of the situation, but it is looking more and more dangerous. She starts thinking of quiet ways to take the techs out..

Tailpipe pushes out of the flooring, tired of no one talking to her and climbs out of the crawl space. "Ah, is much better." She says as she stretches out, cameras or no.
Commlink-Lucky> Air nods to Selene as he pushes up out of the floor, a thin human with bulky security grade armour on, all black and unmarked. "We can come out now, let's move to the drop off area, we got a delivery to collect. That alert will go off soon."
«Plot» Mafen says, "In fact I think you could probably graffiti the floor TAILPIPE WUZ HEAR and they'd probably just let it be, hunt the two others. ; P"
Commlink-Raven> Selene nods, "yeah, lets get this rolling. Before we run out of time."
Commlink-Raven> Selene says, "lead the way, Lucky."
Tailpipe looks around at all the high-tech equipment. "Is wanting me to be trashing dis place? They be loosing good stuff if I do."
This is true.
Air steps to the door and peers into the corridor, «Sure, if you want I guess. Try not to make too much noise.»
Commlink-Raven> Selene says, "I want to get this going, if you think trashing shit will help, fine, but if it's gratuitious, lets just get moving."
Tailpipe says "Is always gratuitious. But if is comm center, destroying maybe make them more confused and deny dem stuff to use."
Tailpipe doesn't mention she's been itching to do something now for the last ten hours and is near the breakpoint of just berserking all sorts of explosives all over.
Commlink-Lucky> Air shrugs, "Either way, if this room goes dark then the security around this place probably won't work so well. Either way do it, just cut all the wires you can see."
Tailpipe nods and motions for them to leave the room. "Is being just a second."
Air heads out into the corridor glancing each way and checking his map for the sixteenth time. «We need to go left out of the door.»
Commlink-Raven> Selene follows, "gotcha."
Air doesn't know if Tailpipe can follow his instructions or if she even cares, but he keeps giving them as he and Selene slowly stalk their way towards the delivery pad.
Tailpipe just follows along, giving up on the idea as they move onwards. Simply mutters to herself and holds her MGL even tighter as she walks behind them.
There's an office full of 10 people, but none seem to notice you outside.
The alert does go off soonish; Of the 2 squads of 10 troopers each, 15 troopers leave to go check out the motion sensor alert. 5 remain on detail. The ships pull in, UAV landing like a plane and the two thunderbird touching down with vectored thrust, sending dust up into the air.
Selene keeps following along with Air, trying to be slow, but sneaky, and observant at the same time. Once outside, she also checks the sky.. looking up.. not that she could see the drones anyway… but…
Air leads the way, following the map in his head, listening at all the corners to be sure of no guards around them before heading out. The ships are up in the sky, incoming and he grins to himself, looking good. Heading around towards the warehouse area he slides up where they can secrete themselves on the way from runway to warehouse.
Tailpipe does her best to stay quiet, following as best she can.
It's not long before two heavy-looking packages are wheeled off of Thunderbird 1, and 1 off of thunderbird 2. Military crates. Locked.
They look… Expensive. They look like… objectives.
«Plot» Air says, "Are they too big to carry? )"

Selene hopes that they *are* objectives, and they aren't too big to carry.

Tailpipe takes a few moments to change out the first four grenades in her MGL with concussives, leaving the rest in their loadout of the much more effective offensives.

Air fingers the pistol holstered at his right hip finally pulling it free, loading up the smartlink and linking it up through the indcution pad in his palm. Just in case of course. Mentally the selectable clips are set to gel as he screws a silencer onto the end, watching as the mage and troll light up the military guards with stun damage.

Tailpipe uses 2 of item 3: IPE Concussive Grenades from Little Big Boomers (#4833).
Tailpipe doesn't waste much time, this is th moment she's been waiting for most of the day. The MGL comes up in her practiced hands and the distictive *PHOOMP* of the launcher echos in the air twice, sending twin grenades downrange at the men in armor. The shots land good, right in their midst even as a few others mysteriously fall on their own accord. Then they blow, the massive concusive force sending the armor laden guards to the ground into unmoving heaps and letting out a report loud enough to be heard across the base.
Commlink-Raven> Selene says, "OK, how we gonna get those boxes out of here? I can levitate one or two.. but I can't carry much of shit and still move quickly."
Air steps up then and heads towards the boxes with a wistful glance at all the fancy armour lay all around. As a small concession he crouches down and using his hand blade cuts the sling of an Alpha, stuffing it into his webbing, a small memento. Then he picks a crate and starts lumbering it over to stack on top of another. «Alright, can you throw some noisy grenades all over the place? Or We're gonna have company, and then say… blow a hole in the fence for us to leave?» This comm message aimed at Tailpipe.

Tailpipe is just about to respond to Air when the jet engines of the T-birds start winding up, turning and running at the closest one even as they try to close their doors. But this is one troll not to be denied, grabbing the edges of the doorway and grunting mightly as she forces it to stay open. «Is getting over here hurry! Is ride out if getting!» She says over the comm, voice straining at the power of the doors trying to close on her.
Air glances up and takes in what Tailpipe is doing even as she says it. Grabbing up the third box he begins to stumble his way over towards the T-Bird, aiming to chuck the box in ahead of himself, «Can you get those into the plane?» He comms over, transduced voice perfectly calm as he asks Selene to do even more casting.
Click click click clak clak clak clak clak hissss…. The hydraulic doors fail to close against the massive strength of the powerful woman — the very image of feminine empowerment, or something. Guards — unconscious. Other guards? Distracted… for a minute, or so. Then 15 highly trained guys with powerful weaponry close in on… well, the invisible people.

Air shifts the box to the door and then makes to toss it inside. This fucker is heavy, but anybody with decent hearing nearby would hear the whine and ratcherting of heavy motors and servos as his right arm flings the thing right past Tailpipe to skid into the cargo area of the T-Bird. Following it in with a ducked head Air heads for the cockpit, about to take some hostages.

The last spell wasnt' the last one! Selene is really starting to show the strain, she leans heavily on the cane and is barely audible as she whispers her chant. The 2 boxes start to rise, hesitantly at first, and then with purpose. They are ready to move to the next point…. wherever that may be.
The interior of the thunderbird is… well a lot like a bradley personell carrier. It's compact and armored. There's a set of HALO drop kits, footlockers with mostly nothing in them, and the doorway heading into the cockpit.
Tailpipe continues to hold against the doors, straining at the rather strong hydrolics until everyone can slip onboard before finaly getting all the way in herself. Once in she simply unsheaths her shotgun from her back and steps up to the door of the cockpit and makes to rip it open…

Tailpipe grips the door with one hand and wrenchs at it, letting out a roar as the door squeels and suddenly rips open with a hard pop. She's not long in sticking the nose of that shotgun right into the side of the pilot (left side if there are two) and giving a low growl. "Is taking off now, da? If not, is enjoying shoving dis into you before pulling trigger." And she makes as if she will, pushing the barrel hard against the pilots side through the flightsuit.

The lead pilot, moustasche and aviator shades, jerks back in the seat and stares at the trogg that just enters, 'HOLY FUCK. FRAG.' He looks over at the co-pilot. 'Yes. We're taking off. Don't shoot me, god, I'm not paid enough for this shit.' He hits a few buttons, gunning the throttle and taking off with great speed. The other thunderbird, however, launches right behind you. And you hear a couple of sounds like weapons tracking. The pilot comments, 'Holy halekala. They're gonna try to shoot us down.'
They haven't even hit the radio to say they've been hijacked, though you can guess they probably are aware at this point.
Air is in the back meanwhile, lashing the cargo into place, because this shit is heavy and we don't want it smacking around. That job done, it doesn't take long since all the old straps are still here that were hlding them before. Then he looks around, "We need to disable the termination chip, the identify friend foe, anything that can track this ship." With that shout to Selene he starts digging through panels on the walls, ripping them open looking for the electronics.
Tailpipe jabs the barrel a bit harder. "Is suggesting you be disabling dem first, da? I is might killing you. Dey is defintly gonna."
Clank, clak, tangle. Panels are ripped out of wows. Air carefully assesses the electronics found.

The moustaschioed pilot shakes his head. 'I, uh, well, not sure if I can…' There's a hard hit and a shake as a heavy shell grazes the craft, the pilots swooping and shaking to the side. 'Son of a BITCH!'

Tailpipe hangs on as the craft shudders and jinks. "Thinking they can!" She says, her voice a loud roar in the little cockpit.
Air rocks back as the craft takes a hit, "FUCK." staggering back to the wall he drags his electronics kit out and starts mashing the wires around. Some are cut, others are spliced together, an insta-soldering iron smokes as he works. In the end the electronics look an utter mess, and nobody really knows what the hel he did, but he seems happy. "That should do it," he says as he sags back.
The pilot pulls a crazy ivan, vectored thrust gimballing engines wildly and sending centripedal forces all across the vehicle. Main guns are fired, but the other craft seems to evade. The co-pilot speaks, 'We've got to lose them somehow. If anybody's gonna survive this mess.'
Commlink-Lucky> Air says, "Tell them to fly to the Warrens, use that wacky gang as cover."
Tailpipe pokes the Pilot in the side once. "Is gonna help, but you's keep going. Closing eyes when Yell." She says before she moves out of the cockpit door, and motions for Air to take her place. Hope Selene got strapped in, since she's so exhuasted.
Air staggers around wildly as the crazy Ivan goes off. He's thrown bodily against one of the boxes and hangs onto the straps for dear life. "Fucking fuck fuck." Looking around he tries to find a gunnery station from which to return fire, it's likely a vain hope but he's a bit desperate right now.
Seeing Tailpipe he nods and moves up to the cockpit. Replacing Tailpipes shotgun with a silenced pistol and a hand blade, one for each pilot.
Commlink-Raven> Selene says, "are the pilots rigged in?"
The vehicle takes a hard hit; Some armor is breached, not as far as the interior though, but there's a brief flare out in one vector engine, causing a drop by a couple hundred feet before the pilots stabilize.
A long line of smoke is visible on the other craft while the rear cargo door slowly opens — apparently they've hit that one bad too, but they're still limping along.
It's fighting for altitude and moving up to get a bead on the other thunderbird again. No other craft in visual range.
Air waits for Tailpipe to try her thing, keeping a close eye on the pilots. He doesn't want to accidentally kill one with a lurch of the plane.
Tailpipe opens the cargo door of their own bird after taking a moment to reload the two empty chambers with the superflash grenades and setting it to fire them next. She hangs on for dear life and waits for the moment to fire at the other bird in an attempt to blind them.
The co-pilot reaches up, and presses on the hand blade (at the hand part), 'Uh, I have to manuever!'
Air shifts the blade, where the man can watch as he raises it above his head, ready to axe chop down through his helmet.

Sixty millimeter slugs from some terrible cannon rain down hellfire with rotary cannons. Rounds impact and tear the ramp to shreds, but Tailpipe holds the position. The shot goes wide, flashing out somewhere to the side and seeming to have no effect on the ship without being directly in the fire zone. Shrapnel seperates from the shots and a couple chunks dig into Tailpipe's coat. Without a good range to target, it is too far away to have an impact. The rounds pound into the vessel, and you hear another vector-thrust engine sputter and flare a few times from your vantage point in the rear.
Air growls as the ship stutters again, "?Haven't you got a rear facing gun on this thing. Take us up! Hide in the clouds or something!" The stresss is obviously affecting him a little.

The pilot shakes his head. 'It's been taken off in enem… in the other t-bird's fire. And I can't gain much more altitude, especially when it exposes our weakest armor plate. Trying to slow and dive so we get a better bearing, but he's on me.

A fresh round pounds through the top-right segment of armor on the open hatch — Tailpipe leans forward, singing her left hand into the hole, a slight hiss audible but it doesn't seem to phase her. She steadies her aim and closes on eye, carefully aiming at the front of the vehicle. Hey, flying an air vehicle is very hard if you cannot see. She aims carefully. She fires. The round arcs forward — and the whole tactic the pilots must have thought laughable comes to fruition, and suddenly every sensor on the craft is blind. There's a bright flash, and when it clears, the other thunderbird is upside down, and diving toward the ground, in a roll. Save their radar, altimeter sensors, but it's not enough in combat — The engines skewing, the damage already sustained, they start to roll. The pilots frantically try to compensate, then drop out of rigger mode to try to compensate manually. And notice they are blind.

This is CRAZY. The witch pulls yet another spirit out of her hat, a straight up high force sky spirit. And asks it to… please conceal the flying machine!
The winds knit. The sounds are hushed in wind. And the ship dissappears from casual observation.
Tailpipe pulls herself fully back into the cargo area and tries to get the door to close. "Phew. Is not sure dat working. Never done before."
Air glances to the back of the plane and then forwards again. "Ok, fly this thing to the Aurora Warrens and park it up down there. We'll let you guys go there." With that he comms, «Good work, fuck I thought we were dead.»
Selene grabs a handhold and leans against the wall, looking around for an actual seat with a seatbelt.
Tailpipe nods. "Is thinking might be making call to have someone be picking us up when land." she waves a hand to the bird. "Dey find dis thing real easy quick."
Selene nods, "that might be a very good idea. got anyone in mind?"
Air keeps an eye on the pilots, though he has no idea where they're going so there's not a big reason to do so. «Good idea. Some transport would be nice.» Air chimes in via comms, his hearing is good enogh to eavesdrop back there.
Commlink-Raven> Selene says, "you got anyone in mind to ask?"
Commlink-Raven> Selene says, "I can call Pauly or Joey. Both of them are out in the 'rens, usually."
Tailpipe settles on one of the crates as she reloads the spent shells in her MGL. "Is not knowing anyone good fer coming to pick up."
Selene walks up towards the pilots, "One of you guys got a phone on you?"
The main pilot blinks, and shrugs, handing Selene her pocsec.
Takes TP's offered phone instead, and gives Pulse a call, "hey… Pauly? Love? Uh.. I'm gonna need a ride… And a few other folks too."
Tailpipe slings the MGL over her shoulder and relaxes for a bit. She finaly got her release, and is quite content for the moemnt.
Selene speaks into the phone, "yeah.. just meet us over in Aurora… yeah. We uh.. we're commin in with a t-bird… NO! Joey can't have it, we're gonna give it to the gangs to cover our escape."
Air watches as the pilots land the bird in the AAC territory, north west corner of the warrens. "Good, now get out of the plane, you won't be keeping it." Then he escrots the pilots out of the plane where they can be knocked unconcious by a combination of Tailpipes body odour and Selene's spells. Handing the T-Bird over to the AAC with a smile, Air confident he won't be attacked wearing all that security grade gear.
Air eve engages a couple of the AAC members with some lifting tools to yank the boxes the group needs outta the plane and into the vehicle that someone brings to collect them, job done.
