GM: Nina
Players: Shoeshine Boy, Nina
Synopsis:
Nina is contcted by Tony Marchino (Lvl 2 Fixer Contact / Italian Mafia). One of their previous assassins has turned States evidence for the Feds. He's in the hospital with a serious injury (gunshot) and can't be relased from the hosptial for a few days; at which point he's going to fall off the grid into a safehouse until the trial.
Nina asks Shoeshine to help her.
Shoeshine isn't big on recon… the decker cost too much money for him to want to spend the cred on information and rather than recon he just walks straight into the lobby dressed as a doctor and figures he'll just wander right up to the target floor and knock out the feds guarding the room and then go in and kill the guy (facepalm).
Of course.. Nina is the GM so she just goes along with it; figuring they're going to die for sure. She was nearly right.

Shoeshine - I have a bit of work you might be interested in. It has to do with cleaning the world of those beyond the rules. Please come to the back room of Craig's Roleplaying store in the DownTown.


Shoeshine Boy knows where the gaming store is! His mom used to play, she says, but his dad didn't. He was too busy freedom-fighting in the Phillipines and stuff. And then they got too busy. But the pictures are neat to read.

Nina has rented the back roleplaying room of Craig's roleplaying shop. She has some sandwhiches on a platter as well as some cans of soda… ready for a meeting with her associates when they arrive.

Shoeshine Boy wows when he comes in. "Highbrow! Mom told me that it was guys, doritos, and donuts at these games." He examines the soda. "And this doesn't have nearly enough caffiene. She said those guys practically lived on Nitro." He looks around, expecting that you'd also have, like, two or three computer geeks here for a decking-intensive run before the sammy got to play.

Nina chuckles at her friends comments while she's opening up a fizzy-dew and then taking a long drink… a pause.. and a loud belch followed by a laugh.

Shoeshine Boy is more than happy to give the sammiches a noshing. They can't be all for him, can they? The security is very high here (or at least, outside) so he feels safe enough. And he awaits to see, if, like, he has to shoot his way out of here or what.

Nina puts the drink to the side, "If you don't mind.. I'd like to offer a mental link again to discuss the details. I never know when people are snooping… is that okay with you?"

Shoeshine Boy smiles. "Oh, do feel free. You've rented the establishment, Ms. Johnson."

Shoeshine Boy personally feels he has to pay you back by, like, actually completing a run wher eyou get paid some kind of money that is like what you paid to put him through the hospital. Of course, this mission, he'll be rather a bit more … guns blazing.

Shoeshine Boy plays along, doodling on a battlemat with a wet-erase pen designed for it.

Nina's Mindlink, "My sponsor that supported my move here from Detroit is a member of the Italian family here in Denver. One of the families assasins got nipped by the feds and has turned witness and is going into protective custody where they change his name and he vanishes. He's murdered countless people and will be getting off scott free. It's a strange job.. do you help the mob off a witness that is a murderer? Or do you let the mob get screwed and let the murderer get a clean swipe re-start like nothing ever happened. You interested in helping out the mob on this one?"

Nina nibbles on her sandwhich part way through her 'talk'.. mindlink is so fun.

Shoeshine Boy mind-talks, "Assassinate an assassin caught by the cops? I suppose.. after all, the people hiring me to kill him have evidence of his badness guaranteed. And I guess I'm killing him before he can finger more mob people to the cops. But actually.. if I walk away, and you can't kill him alone, that means that the mob is in trouble and they lose people to his evidence. Will that make the world a better place or will other people, like the Yak or the Russians, just move in? It's one of those questions. Stable state or hope for a better world? In this case, knowing the people I know, I have to go for the stable state and protect the Mob. A well-run Mob protects its territory and likes threat over violence. I haven't seen bad mob actions… and I've been watching. " He doesn't mind-talk anything about his possible associations with said gang member. "So fill me in."

Before mindtalk, Nina lets out a loud, "Oh man… all 1's.. bastard cursed dice!"

Nina's Mindlink, "Thank you Shoeshine…. The guy is currently in a local hospital under guard by two feds. He's hooked up by monitors so if he flatlines all the docs come running. He's supposed to be released back to the fed's safehouse in two days. The court appointment where he is the witness is in a week; so that's the deadline. I don't know where the safehouse is at.. so if we wait until he's out of the hospital and being moved to the safehouse.. we're going to make sure we don't lose him. I don't have the spell yet for tracking people down.. it's on my list."

Shoeshine Boy mind-says, "Well, you could track him down with most any spell, if I read the books right. But yeah. We can do some stuff in that hospital, for sure. When you say he's in the hospital, what, is he sick or something? Or is that just where they're holding him?"

Nina's Mindlink, "From what I was told he was shot when he was taken into custody. He has been in the hospital about four days now and is still recovering."

Shoeshine Boy mind-says, "Well gee, I been there. Now you got me all sympathetic to him. But in any case. what's the security like on this hospital? Because I got a few ideas already."
Shoeshine Boy continues, "And what about you? Do you do mind control? Can you make people forget? Can you turn me into a gecko lizard so I can crawl on the ceiling and sneak into the room?

Nina's Mindlink, "They have cameras on all hallways and on levels of the hospital. This guy is in room 712; seventh floor, it's a private room so he'll be alone in the room. Two federal agents outside his room at all times. He's also got a push button on his bed to call the nurse.. a hospital panic button… I can probe minds to read their thoughts. A spell to wipe someone's mind I do not have.. I'm designing that spell right now actually but it'll take a couple weeks to complete it and then I need to learn it after that… but yes; I can turn you into a gecko but I have to stay somewhat nearby, you have to stay within about 24 meters or so from me."

Shoeshine Boy mind-says, "Can you do invisible, gecko, and mindlink all at the same time? Then I just crawl in, tap a few buttons on his machinery, and crawl out."

Nina's Mindlink, "Looking over you closer.. you are rather… meaty… some serious mass. To turn you into a gecko might be beyond my ability.. I'd have to push all my abilities to make that happen… but yes, a shapechange I can sustain into a foci on my bracelet as well as the mindlink… the Improved invisibility I can also do.. but that one I would need to sustain personally… it's doable but the shapechange is by far the most difficult because of your mass and the tiny nature of a gecko. Me… I"m a little thing so shifting is simple.. you.. it's like shoving an elephant into a phone booth."

GM Note: Iris is actually the installer of Shoeshine's heavy cyber and bioware - she's in her seventies now and she's been Shoeshine's family doctor all his life. Knew Shoeshine when he was a little baby boy, she did. Fortunately, Draco Foundation work is so stable where she's at.


Nina selects another sandwhich from the platter on the roleplaying table as she listens on.

Shoeshine Boy sends Iris an encrypted email asking if she can rustle up for him some used scrubs, used lab coats, and expired medical identification that's like to be tossed - and stethoscopes. All a part of being disguised as doctors/nurses. He sends his size, and eyeballs Nina for her size.

Nina munches on her sandwhich as she wonders what Shoe's new idea is.. curious.. on the edge of her chair as he's typing out his secret message to someone.

Shoeshine Boy mind-asks Nina, "Address of the hospital?" And he tight-IR beams her a copy of the message making it obvious he's going to disguise them both, or maybe just him. When he gets the address of the hospital, he forwards it to Jennifer, his decker pal, for her to check up on. "What's the security like at this place? Heavy? Light? Can you manage the cameras? If I used a fake security badge could you wave me through?"

Philip pages: I set up most of a timeline, started a personality synopsis and I'm fiddling with a short, about four to five paras to wrap up the 'how I borged up' bit for sams. Then, it's cover the contacts and hit done/apply.

Jennifer emails back:
Medical places are pretty tight. People and governments really want to protect medical information. It's doable if I am on scene and can direct jack in.. remotely… rather difficult of a task to accomplish. I'd need to be on scene to help.

Shoeshine Boy sends to Iris: "Pretty please! I'm just looking for something that looks nice - I'll fake it to fit from there." To Jennifer he tacks an add-on - "Is this a 500y job, a 1000y job, or a 2000y job?" It's their obvious code for how tought it is.

Iris emails back: I can get you I.D.'s but I can't vouch that they'll get you past any security on the hospital you're going to; that's going to need to be on you.

Shoeshine Boy sends to Jennifer, having cross-emailed her without seeing her email (don't you hate that?), "How much for just a working badge? Can you do that from off site?"

Jennifer emails back:
1,500 =y= per badge. Visual effective only, a real scan of them will flag as fake. To get them as working/passable and scannable/legit, I need to be on site to hack their databases and add your pictures/names/passcard ID data into their databases. If you just want a really amazing 'holloweeen costum' no problem. But workable ID, I have to get on site and hack them.

Shoeshine Boy emails back, "Let's go for two halloween costumes." To Nina he mind-says, "Okay. Right now, the plan is we disguise ourselves, we walk in during the day when they usually aren't badging every person in every door, it being a hospital. We hide in a closet, we move around, we do stuff like that. At night, we walk down the hallway with the cops. As we pass by, we knock them out. We are both disguised and face-masked. Inside, we handle whatever else he has in there, rig his machines not to warrant, and do the deed. Walk out, un-disguise."

Nina's Mindlink, "Just a small tweak. I can stunball both guards from considerably down the hallway so both fall at the same time. The problem will be the cameras seeing it and an alarm going up. We need to be fast to get in, do the deed and get out. I suggest we stay down the hall away from the room considerably… stunball the guards.. improve invisible on you.. you rush down the hall invisible and the cameras can't even see you. You dive into the room, do the deed and out you come invisible. We shed our disguises.. you stay invisisble and go outside through an emergency door or whatever… I use Physical Mask to make myself look like some random doctor I saw during the day and I walk out…. I don't like the idea of leaving or leaving my face on a camera recording."

Shoeshine Boy mind-says, "Doing it right, in the room, will take some time. If the door is closed and it likely will be, I can't just open it with 2 cops there. I like being right next to the cops when they get knocked out, you know, just in case one of them gets lucky. And as for the face, both of us will be facemasked - I have two. Although when we are inside the hospital, turning us both invisible to stand in a corner would be wonderful.

Nina's Mindlink, "Oh.. by facemask you're referring to a cosmetic disguise? Not pantyhose over our heads? Well.. okay.. that's more reasonable then."

Shoeshine Boy mind-says, "Yeah, I'll show you how it works. Are we ready? both of us invis in the hospital when we're alone, wait for night creeping around, get on that hallway, do the do? And plot our escape route?"
Shoeshine Boy mind-says, "Oh, but wait, spirits on guard in the hospital will see us invisible.
Shoeshine Boy mind-says, "Only at the last minute are we invisible.

Nina's Mindlink, "I can keep us invisible but won't be helpful beyond that.. I don't have any sustaining foci for Improved Invisibility so will need to sustain both of the spells… effectively making me worthless beyond the two spells."

Shoeshine Boy mind-says, "That's fine! I'll knock out guards, unlock doors, and do stuff like that!"

Nina's Mindlink, "Okay"

Shoeshine Boy takes his deliveries from Iris and Jennifer. He plays dress-up in a dingy apartment with Nina, showing her how the nifty face-masks work, all super-spy style, making her look totally different. He does her hair different too, as well as making her clothes match her scrubs. And finally, he surveils the hospital from the outside, seeing where the entrances and exits are, the drive paths, and where the obvious external cameras are.

Hospital Cameras:
It looks like the hospital was advised by law enforcement on camera placements and coverage. It's as if they deal a lot with people coming in injured, are dropped off after shoot outs.. or other reasons for the law to want to look over camera data to track people down and get clues. It's like London.. cameras are everywhere.

Shoeshine Boy clearly loves playing dress-up. He really takes his time and gets into it. He checks and re-checks. He schools Nina in medical talk, at which he is surprisingly decent. He's already used his super-vision to look at the basic map of the building in the lobby, and they'll be going in the front entrance. Camera away! They're going up to do a urological consult on the third floor (which is not the floor of what's his face.)

*OOC* Nina says, "I'm not sure what I should pose.. not sure where I fit in here."
«OOC» Shoeshine Boy says, "You walk up with me? You play the hospital security? do they ignore us/ Do they stop us? Do they stop everyone going up to the third floor to see a doctor there?"

*OOC* Nina says, "I'm just not used to the powerpose concept of RP. Drop in several major bits of RP all in one pose. Am I supposed to +roll.. odd it works.. even it doesn't?"
«OOC» Shoeshine Boy says, "Well, you have our plan. Now you start going through the steps, checking it. We are walking in the door. How does that go? We are getting in the elevator. How does that go? We are going up to the third floor. Any problems? Any confrontations? That is the basic difficulty. Then you have the next problem point - how do we lurk around for 8 hours or so until the middle of the night without being suspicious?"
«OOC» Shoeshine Boy says, "The next problem point is - how do we get to the floor where our target is with the two cops? do they see us? Do spirits detect us? Then how do we confront them? Then how long does it take us to do them and do the guy in the way we would like? How long is it until the knocked out cops alerts someone?"

Stopped in the lobby the receptionist raises a quizical look, "Can I help you?"

Shoeshine Boy says, "Yes, we have a urological consult on the third floor. With doctor 'X'." That's the urological doctor that Shoeshine already looked up, as a part of his plan."

The receptionist oh's as if understanding, "One moment please," and picks up the phone and dials a number.

Shoeshine Boy oopses. Well, this is why bluffing is called bluffing. Let's hope he has a secretary up there - he would almost have to. Shoeshine himself just looks somewhat impatient as well he should.

The receptionsist speaks into the phone, "Yes, hello, this on Joan at the receptionist desk.. we have a Mister…" she reads off Shoe's nametag and a Miss…" she reads off Nina's name tag, ".. here for a consult with Doctor X. I didn't get that information forwarded to me; can you confirm?"

The receptionist listens…. listens.. then hangs up the phone, "I'm sorry, there must be some sort of misunderstanding. Doctor X has never heard of either of you and isn't expecting any consult this morning."

A security guard from the front lobby door begins wandering over.

Shoeshine Boy looks confused. "I could have sworn…" He has that 'forget my own head next' sort of look. "All right, we'll go down to the cafe and give his secretary a call. Maybe I have the wrong day." Most hospitals have a cafe and a gift shop on the ground floor, and if they don't, there is likely one within walking distance.

The receptionist hands Shoe the phone receiver and speed dials two buttons, "Here you go Sir… she can talk to you right here."

Shoeshine Boy realizes he should have just breezed by the secretary with a 'thanks, I know where I'm going' sort of look, but hey, you live, you learn. "Oh, thanks." He takes the phone. "Yes, I'm here for Doctor X, for a consult with Patient Y." He waits to hear what she has to say. If she is confident, he has a way to back off.

The lady on the phone with Shoe ah's softly, "Oh yes.. of course.. please come on up."

Shoe also notices a camera turn to pan in on his position.

Shoeshine Boy heads on down to the elevator, waiting, watching. He's basically screwed, but he imagines he can pull it out. He still looks a little confused. We'll see if there's fifty cops on the third floor waiting for him.

Nina moves along with Shoe.

The elevator opens, ready to take Shoe up.

Nina flips her vision into the astral world.

Shoeshine Boy goes in the elevator. They have escape hatches in the ceiling - required for fire codes. If they lock us in.

Nina enters the elevator as well.

The doors close.

Shoeshine Boy finds it hard to imagine a full security explosion for someone doing what we've done so far. But hey, you never know.

The elevator floor/level lights go out/dark. The elevator can be felt going downward.

Shoeshine Boy , when he is up top, will reach down and yoink Nina up top, then replace the emergency exit hatch, if this is doable. He can see perfectly in total darkness with his eye lights, and can easily carry her with one hand due to incredible strength. His goal is to step off onto the ladder, and climb, and look for ductwork, interstices, the electrical wiring pathways, stuff like that. Up up and up.

The elevator stops when Shoe gets up on top of the elevator rooftop.
A voice speaks from the elevator speaker, "Until this point we weren't sure you wished us harm. Camera tricking magic is illegal… magical security has been notified. Stay where you are; there is no need for you to continue down this path of destructive behavior."

Nina reaches up to let Shoe grab her wrist.. he's reaching down for her.. so she reaches up to let him pull her up.

*OOC* Nina says, "How are you seeing NIna? ultrasound?"

Nina's vision is in the astral.. so she can see Shoe and put her wrist into his grasp.

«Plot» Shoeshine Boy says, "Shoeshine has Low-Light vision and Eye Light Systems, so he makes the tiniest amount of light to see perfectly with low light - that is how he gets around climbing ladders and stuff in the darkness. He has Ultrasound to see Nina."

Nina gets her feet under herself after she's released on top of the elevator and Shoe is closing the hatch again.

Shoeshine Boy will be climbing to seven it is, while looking for the places that technicians would go to fix the water pipes, the oxygen pipes, the electrical wiring, and other avenues. There are much better possible exits that way rather than opening any elevator doors. He is more than happy to carry Nina so she doesn't have to climb while she is holding those spells.

** GM Nina **
The elevator shaft stretches up several floors. On each floor there is a set of metal elevator doors. Above each door is a small red light. Each red light starts to blink rapdily now.

Shoeshine Boy really wants to do most anything but take one of those metal elevator doors. So he's looking for another part of this elevator shaft that isn't metal, like a duct, electrical wiring vent, or even drywall that might lead to an inter-drywall area. But if those do not exist, well, he has an idea.

Concrete block shaft with no side tunnels. There are electrical conduits along the edges but smaller 1 inch and smaller in size. There is some sort of fire code that doesn't allow side passages from the elevator shafts.

Nina is greatly taxed by sustaining three spells…. pushing herself father than she ever has before.

Shoeshine Boy sighs. It's almost like they've heard about building hackers. He breaks out the electronics kit, and tries to disable enemy decker connectivity to the 5th floor elevator door.

Last we left our adventurers there were in an elevator shaft. Shoe was a climbing monkey wedged up so he could do some electronics work and has just succeeded in bypassing the electronic control over the elevator door.
Nina is sustaining a crap-load of spells (levitate and 2 Imp. Invis spells) if anything happens she will have to drop spells so she can defend herself.
Down in the elevator the magical response team is investigating.

Shoeshine Boy , having done so, actually opens the door. Even though invisible, he doesn't expose loads of himself. People looking will see the door open on emptiness; let's hope there aren't many. Interestingly, he hasn't heard any general warnings over the loudspeaker to tell, like, everyone else in the hospital to hide, something is going on. Which is nice, in a way. No panic.

Shoe spots a video camera in the center of the hallway on the ceiling here. It's in a tinted glass globe so people never know where it's really looking. There are room doors with pda clipboards resting in the records trays mounted on the walls of each room doorway. The floors are highly polished tile. To the left there is a nurses station where a few nurses can be heard talking. Two security guards can be seen talking to the nurses.

Security Guard "We need you to override the room locks on this floor into lockdown. The other floors are also being alerted. There is a security issue going on and we need to make sure the patients are safe."

Nurse, "What's going on?"

Security Guard, "A couple people tried to sneak in pretending they were doctors.. we're suspecting terrorists."

The door across from Shoe can be heard locking shut and its passkey panel red light comes on. They do that all the way up/down the hallway as well; even the room with the "Janitor" sign on it.

Shoeshine Boy , using his Ultrasound to make sure Nina is out and following him, will close the elevator door again, then make for the stairs. They said room locks, not stairs locks, thankfully. And will try to slip up them to get to the appropriate floor, now that they have gone somewhere a little less 'obvious.' Playing for time, looking to give the slip, even for an instant. Never make it easy. After all, they're likely sure they know where we are going.

Hey, he'll grasp at any straws. He lurks up to them at all good speed, then is distracted by the nurse's station. Is his/her card or keys sitting out or a little less tied down? Is he/she jacked in or at a cyberterminal?

The previosly pushed panic button has now set off red strobe lights in the ceilings of the hallways.. but still no audible alarm.

Shoeshine Boy 's attack goes pretty much as planned - furious centerpunching on the first one, blowing through him just like escrima teaches to unload on the second - bending him over with a punch to the belly for the love-tap uppercut that puts him down. He goes to grab their badges first, and glances at their guns to see if they have the full monte - palm prints that prevent the guns from being used by unauthorized people. Some do, some don't, it's usually more trouble than it's worth. (Also, he looks to see if they are smartlinked and the like.)

Nina dropped the levitate spell when they got out of the elevator shaft and was just about ready to drop both Imp. Invis spells because combat has started.. but Shoe moves swiftly and takes out the guards before she could react.. the spells remain held.

Nina watches Shoe, her vision in the astral, paranoid for the magical security people to show up.

Nina is in the doorway that Shoe has just kicked down. The elevator doors on Floor 5 open up and a throng of security that even have riot shields show up in the hallway heading towards her position.

The remaining two men from above lean over the metal handrail and look down the stairs down to the floor six landing. They can see the occassional shoulder/arm of the men coming up from below but Nina is way down at Floor 5 still not even coming up the stairs yet, they can't see her (hopefully she's not silly enough to run along the edge of the handrail on the way up and make herself a target).

Shoeshine Boy is careful, really he is. He tries to use the man for cover. He hasn't even run into the clouds of talcum powder yet! But the stairwell is so wide and open that there's just nowhere near enough cover to do the cool stuff he wanted to do. Instead, he ends up doing the electric boogie and dancing on the ground.

Nina uses the shield for cover as she moves back around the men sleeping in the hallway, heading for the nurses station to use it as cover and still allow her a view down the hallway. As she's moving she commands her Fire elementals while pointing down the hallway (directing her mental attention) at the stairwell where the door is busted off, "Protect me!" She shifts her attention to the Earth Elementals as well with the same instructions.

Nina notes monitors in the nurses station that show the hallways (not just this one here).. one though is very impressive with lurking fire and earth elementals in it. The guards from upstairs and from downstairs are not out in the hallway yet though… no targets. She ducks down behind the nurses station for full cover and uses the monitor to keep informed. Still.. this idea is quickly tossed as she worries about the magical security showing up any second and she slips back into the astral and does the peek over edge back down thing for cover.

Shoeshine Boy heaves, using his incredible might - to little avail. There's a reason they call these 'plasteel' cuffs, and there's a reason the roadrasher armor has that heating element that you can buy that melts through these guys… after ten minutes. Still, his escapology is good - He uses the pressure on his own arms to scrunch his cuffed wrists under his butt and draw his ankles through, so he can stand and present his hands to Nina for the knife.

Nina jogs back up and hands Shoe the knife and then goes back down and gets one of the tasers that hasn't been used yet.

«Plot» Shoeshine Boy can, with a knife, do 13 physical to this Barrier 15, which means that it will be cut through in 3 actions.

Nina is noticably swifter/fast now.

Shoeshine Boy braces against the railing of the stairwell and really uses his body. He's hyperventilating, he knows it, he knows how hurt he is, and yes, he has to pee. Damn stimulants. But no matter. With full body sawing, he's through. He takes out a flashpack and gets it ready and runs up to floor 7.

There is a small window in the door to the hallway, a little blinking red light in the ceiling shows the level is on alert also. The maglock here on the door on the stairwell side shows a red light… locked.

Shoeshine Boy mutters, "And the union wouldn't let the guards do a transport."

Nina tucks herself into the landing corner and sits down..leans back.. and astrally projects out of her body to join her army of watchers… her astral form is invisbile to the mundane world right now as she peaks through the door.. then heads down the hall.

30 seconds later she returns to her body and opens her eyes, "There are no guards guarding any of the rooms. I can't read room numbers in the astral so didn't know which one he was in.. I had to check the entire floor."

In one minute after leaving the stairwell they find room 712 (the target room).

At the door… all seems quiet, no Fed's on guard duty outside. The room lock is red/locked.

The ceiling is smooth/painted drywall (no pop up panels). A vent is in the ceiling, it is a 6 inch diameter round vent.

Shoeshine Boy gotta check it, hwoever unlikely. Holes in drywall, holes out the back of the closet, droplets of water that he shed from ripping out the IV, driblets of blood and all that.

Nina shifts her view to the astral to command her watchers, "Please go down to the ground level outside this building and search for a (sex/race/age given by Fixer) person with a metal needle in their forearm about right here," she shows the watchers, "He will be injured and in pain and likely in a chair with wheels being pushed by another person. Report back to me when you find him."

Nina easily spots the guy in the wheelchair now that Shoe is at the window and is pointing him out down in the parking lot seven floors below.

Nina focuses her energies in the astral and builds up a nasty amount of mana and realeases it over the distance right into the man in the wheelchair. His atoms split apart and suck his soul out of his body and he limps over sideways.. dead.

Shoeshine Boy says "Now the rough part. Escape. We gotta get outta here and unseen before loads more cops arrive. Can you do two more invisibles and a fly?"

Shoeshine Boy , for some reason, doesn't really mention the dead guy they mercilessly slaughtered.

Nina nods to Shoe, "I hope so.. it won't be easy.. flying yes.. but also invisible is hard. I've an idea.. let's get to the roof.. I will shapechange into a bird… then will invis you and levitate you.. that way I don't have to sustain so many spells… I can sustain the shapechange in a foci."

Shoeshine Boy lets out his breath. If his pupils could actually dilate or narrow, they would - but they can't, so they don't. Man, it would be so sweet to jack that ride. But no, he doesn't have the skill. He actually has to summon his usual cheeriness - usually it comes to him so easy. But it's back now, and he smiles. "Sorry. About.. Missing. Over to you."

Nina nods and starts stripping down naked as she goes. The clothing she has is all disguise and she just lets it fall tot he roof as she's walking to the side of the building away from the mainstreet side, "This mask of yours… I need to remove it before I cast my spell to shapechange.. can you use your doctors coat to cover up my face while I remove the mask? After I'm a bird you can pick up the mask and I will make you ivisible and then levitate you and off we go?"

Shoeshine Boy does this thing, sure to gather all equipment as well as hide Nina's face. Even from himself, actually, as he's looking away.
Shoeshine Boy tries not to blush, and fails.

There we go.. had to cast it twice but it worked second time.

Nina gets butt naked and stands before Shoe, letting him bring up the lab coat to cover her face before she carefully pulls off the mask and then drops it on the floor at her bare feet. She looks up in the sky at the lab coat held over her face and holds the adjusted bracelet so that it's just the right size and resting on her upturned nose. Her hands hold both sides of the bracelet as she weaves her magic. Her nose turns into a pointed beak and head shrinks.. her arms turn into wings.. the bracelet falls down right over her nose and around her Raven neck. A few flaps of her arms and she lands gently on the rooftop with her black talons making little scraping sounds.

Shoeshine Boy ooos. It's one thing to see magic explode someone's head. But guns can do that too. Turning into a raven is like ten times cooler.

With it being much more difficult to cast and resist the drain of spells while maintaining other spells, Nina is careful and conservative with how she uses her magic and her Power Foci… the raven concentrates and soon Shoe is lifting up off the rooftop… something is picking him up…. weeeee.

Shoeshine Boy murmurs, "Keep low, nape of the earth, away from the cops.. we need to get under cover…" He's taking off his own face mask and bundling his other disguisey bits up into a fold-out bag for this reason. Even while flying.

** Nina Raven **
Nina takes to the sky, flap flap.. glide.. flap.. glide.. bringing the invisible Shoe along with her. She leads them directly across from the back of the hospital down over the next building and then directly down into the alley behind that.. a bee-line for the shadows. In the alley she continues to fly and bring Shoe with her. She can fly faster than her leviate is moving him though and it's waiting on ledges and power lines bringing him along with her.

In the alley two blocks away she lowers him down so that he can now run on his own.. and its one less spell to sustain.. she's keeping him in sight though.. and invisible for now.

Shoeshine Boy sneak sneak sneaks! Get under cover, get low to the ground, exfiltrate out several blocks away to waiting vehicles, sneak into them, now cannot be seen for tinted windows. He planned out the escape route, just not the flying down to it from the roof part.

Nina flies into the vehicle when the door is opened and hops/flaps into the back seat. After Shoe is inside and the door is closed she drops the Improved Invisibility spell on him and also drops the Increased reflexes spell on herself. She though.. remains a bird.

She takes a moment to bring forth her Mindlink spell (sustained in foci) to speak with Shoe.

Nina's Mindlink, "Shoe.. buddy.. we still alive?"

Nina's Mindlink, "I'll wait with you until you are able to travel. I have a stashed backpack a few blocks from here I can fly to and it has clothing and shoes and such in it for me. But I'll hold here until you're good again."

Shoeshine Boy considers himself okay to drive after another ten minutes. Mostly autodrive, actually. But he's awake! He sighs. "Thanks. And sorry again."

Nina's Mindlink, "I'll get the cred for the job and meet up with you tomorrow to get you your pay.. you good now?"

Shoeshine Boy has a crooked smile. "As good as good cn me."
