Synopsis:
Investigation and legwork regarding the Black Hole Zone and the Wells Fargo building leads the Runners to the need to visit the Astral, and the Children's Sphere.

Part 1: Jasmine
Jasmine has not been reachable for a while but at last she is 'home'. Slinger meets her at a small park around the Denver fair area.
Slinger arrives at the appointed time. Free spirits are harder to reach, sometimes — they don't always carry cellphones, for one thing. A few do. Instead, Slinger has to leave a marker somewhere, a mention that he would like her assistance. Hence, the note left in response. Tradecraft, of a sort, like in an old-school spy movie.
Slinger smiles as he recognizes the beautiful, voluptuous form that Jasmine usually takes. If he were straight, he would probably be enthralled. As it is, he can appreciate her beauty on a purely aesthetic level. "Thank you for coming," the elf says with a smile. "I… may need your help with something. Are you aware of the fog hanging over the building downtown?" He gestures in that direction.
Briefly, Slinger shares what he has learned, along with what he received from the DIMR. The mention of the 'Child of the Astral', and the suggestion of the 'Child's Sphere'.
"That's not one I know how to find," Slinger admits. "I was hoping you might be able to help — or might know one who could.
Jasmine smiles as she, leaning against a tree, sees the young smoking elf arrive. She is dressed in a very frilly way, considering it is winter. Showing more skin than would be advisable for any metahuman.
The spirit's lack of response makes Slinger tilt his head. "Did I say something wrong?" he asks with concern. "If so, I apologize. I think we need to undertake a Quest there, is all… and I'm not sure what kind of Quest. And, well, whom I invite kinda depends on whether we've got the usual Dweller to deal with," he admits, with a sheepish grin.
Jasmine shakes her head, "No, I was thinking. And it seems I cannot help you directly.", she replies. "This is far out of my league. It concerns events and places of the last time of magic. Which is far older than I am. I have met a … sibling that may be able to help you, but she is currently locked to the astral planes."
Slinger nods thoughtfully. "Then I would ask if you would be willing to assist us with your abilities. I have some companions who will be meeting up shortly. Some of us can project, but others may require assistance and guidance. Indeed, we would be honored if you would help us find your sibling and would introduce us." He inclines his head.
Jasmine nods, "You know what? I'll slip into the astral and ask her if she is willing to help you. If she is, I can help you and your friends to meet up with her."
After that she disappears like smoke.
While Jasmine is away, Slinger contacts both Janie and Smoke. "I have a lead on the 'Child's Sphere' within the astral. Molly said she had a /really/ good contact, but she's suddenly left town, and wouldn't do anything to put me in touch with her contact, and we can't wait the two weeks it'll take for her to get back. If you're free, you could meet me in the park, behind the copse of trees in the east? I would really appreciate your assistance. And we can decide whom else to invite, if anyone."
To Janie, Slinger adds, "I know you had some serious concerns about that. And… I also want a chance to apologize for last week."
Jasmine returns a short while, poofing back into existence. She smiles at the people that have arrived so far and nods to Slinger, "She is willing to meet and guide you."
"I'll be there shortly," is Janie's only reply - and indeed, about fifteen minutes later a familiar jet black BMW Blitzen pulls into the park.
Slinger smiles. "I have two others who I would like to accompany me, and perhaps more. It depends if we will potentially need numbers in the quest… or if it is better to go with a small but trusted group. What do you think is wisest?" Slinger asks the spirit, deferring to her counsel.
Smoke arrives after taking a taxi to get close to the park. He moves quietly through the trees and enters the clearing behind the trees to the east. He smiles when he sees Slinger. "Well, so I got some sleep and feel fairly rested. What is the plan?"
Jasmine shrugs, "I cannot really counsel you in this matter. I know this is going to be hard trip, but my friend told me it was quit unlike the normal travels you … flesh and bone beings do on the planes. You are going guided by one of the astral folks, so you will experience it slightly different than usually."
"This isn't th'best o'places t'start an Astral trip from," Janie points out. "Especially not one we don't know how long it will actually take in real time."
Slinger nods to Jasmine, then smiles to Janie and Smoke as they arrive. With him is a voluptuous woman, beautiful, giving off the scent of her namesake. She is of obvious middle-eastern descent, and bears that gorgeous, exotic, and mysterious beauty so often associated with that part of the world. "I'm glad you could come. Jasmine" — he gestures to the free spirit — "has a sibling who may be able to guide us to what we seek. This will not be a normal Quest — I'm guessing that means, no Dweller. So… I leave it in your hands who goes and who stays," he says to Janie, with an inclination of his head. "I know you were concerned."
Slinger nods agreement with Janie's words. "This was just a meeting place. We can depart from anywhere." He considers. "I have a location in the Warrens that is pretty secure, useful for that. We could use the High Arcana. The back room at the Angel's Delight. Lots of places."
Janie looks at Jasmine. "It was my understandin' that th'Dweller /always/ guards th'border between this world an' th'Outer Planes," she says to the spirit.
Jasmine shrugs and replies to Janie and Slinger, "Well, I fear you still have to pass the dweller, yes. The differences will be starting only after that.",
Smoke taps out a cigarette and lights it, knowing he won't have the pleasure once this all begins. He watches the mysterious woman carefully. "I am ready to go whenever you all are." He looks a little excited about being involved.
"Someplace secure," Janie replies to Slinger while still regarding the spirit. "Comfort's a secondary concern if we'll be stuck f'r a long time."
"Who else are we inviting?" Slinger asks Janie. Short and succinct. That will inform where we do this from, after all. The Angel's Delight has its own advantages, just because the Saints are there to guard us. Though they have little in the way of their own magical support.
Jasmine just stands there waiting for the metahumans to sort out their matters.
Smoke takes a drag on blows the smoke upwards in a tight plume. "Janie I've never been through any sort of odd gateways or anything. I just usually leave my body in the traditional way. I do like the Angel's delight, having folks around that could possibly heal my meat shell while I was away could be nice." He nods to her and then glances at Slinger and then the woman Jasmine.
Slinger lights one of his own cigarettes, enjoying the chance for a cancer stick before it's time to go in. He's deferring to Janie on this, drawing on her greater experience in such matters.
Jasmine leans at her tree and watches the discussion going.
Janie shakes her head at Smoke. "I'm sorry, but I'm not willin' t'accept y'r company on an Astral quest," she says calmly. "It's not a matter o'lack o'respect or faith in y'r capabilities or confidentiality; It's a matter o'secrets y'r better of not learnin'."
She looks back at Slinger and sighs. "D'ye know where Breeze is, an'whether she'd be willin'? Her, I do trust far enough."
Momentarily, Slinger looks a bit startled. He wants to protest, but closes his mouth and simply nods once to Janie. "I could contact her." He grins and claps Smoke on the shoulder, apologetically. "That's okay. We can find something to accomplish while the ladies are off gallivanting around." He pulls out his phone to make a call to the one known as Breeze.
"I didn't say ye couldn't come, Slinger," Janie points out.
Annie recognizes the comm code and answers, "Hello. How are things?"
Slinger turns back to Janie, blinking. "Thought you were pretty mad at me," the elf says, slowly. "You and Silk both. I was actually sort of figuring I'd be sitting this one out. Not that I /want/ to, mind. Just figured that's how it would play out."
Smoke looks at Janie and shrugs, "Business is business I guess." He takes another drag with a sharp intake. Looks at her feet and then away. He nods to Slinger as well. "S'okay. I think she wants you on the trip. Just me out, probably thinks I'm still green. No biggie." His expression is blank and he strolls off in the direction of the woods.
Annie looks at her phone, a bit puzzled that no-one answered after calling her. "Hello?", she repeats again curiously.
Janie sighs. "Y'r entirely too powerful t'be this naive sometimes," she replies wrily. "Was I disappointed in th'way ye treated Calavera? Aye, I was - her morals may be f'r hire, but she's a professional an' deserves t'be treated with th'professional courtesy she shows other people she respects. Was I disappointed with th'way ye handled th'meetin'? Aye - if it'd been handled better, if I'd had th'impression that somethin' useful might've been accomplished, I wouldn't have left. That isn't th'same thing as bein' angry with ye to th'point where I don't want t'work with ye. If we're goin' on this together, all I ask is if ye c'n concentrate on th'mission f'r th'duration o'th'mission."
Slinger had that coming. He could explain a lot of things, but instead he simply nods. "Yes, ma'am," he says. Quietly, but with firm sincerity. Then, he brings the phone back to his ear. "Mustang would like your assistance if you're available." He covers the phone. "Where are we meeting?" Slinger asks Janie.
"Th'Angels Delight's probably safest," Janie replies. "Easiest t'get to f'r all o'us."
Into the phone, Slinger relays that. "Angel's Delight," he says to her. He waits for Annie's response before disconnecting, then nods to Jasmine. "I'll give instructions to the gang not to let anyone but the four of us in there, and guard it," he mentions to Janie. "And… thanks for giving me another chance."
Annie responds, "Ok, be there in twenty.", she hangs up the phone and heads to the Warrens.
Slinger laughs. "Not like they could stop you. You can just vanish and reappear inside. It might be worthwhile to ward the room, just in case." The elf snaps the phone closed and tucks it away. "Meet you there?" he asks Mustang, as he reaches into his pocket for his keys.
Jasmine looks after the leaving man then furrows her brow. "I am not shure how you see it, but five is a magical number of power fo rthat kind of quest. I'd advise to have a fifth person join your quest."
"Five?" Slinger asks, then glances to Janie, stopping in his tracks. "I've worked with Smoke before — he's pretty trustworthy. And there's Page. I know you don't like him, but he does play for the right team. And he's got some power — and more than anything, ingenuity." He is throwing out suggestions, cautiously. "If we need five people, that is."
Jasmine shrugs, "It is just a good number, no requirement."
The Angel's Delight
Annie drives toward the Angel's delight, playing some of her favorite tunes and singing along absently. "At first I was afraid, I was petrified.", she turns a corner and crosses the invisible line that separates the Warrens from the rest of the UCAS sector. The exterior of the Bison shifts its colors from the usual Mystery Machine motif and begins flickering through gang colors as the onboard GPS identifies different gang territories it's passing through. Occasionally the Gang Territory knowsoft chip is off by a week or so and she gets shot at, but for the most part its pretty accurate.
Slinger nods once, then heads to his vehicle. It's not too far from here to the Angel's Delight, and he parks the thing, knowing full well the Saints will avoid doing anything to it — and will make sure nobody else does, either. The elf takes the time to grab a couple of smokes on the way, and parks the car out of the way, but near the pool hall in question. Once that's done, he climbs out and locks the doors securely, then heads to the building.
Once inside, he reserves our room — but gives strict instructions about who is allowed in and who is not. "Only exception is if we're dying or something — and it's somebody we know. Only Jasmine, Breeze, Annie, and himself, unless there's an emergency, and even then, they're not to be left alone in there.
Jasmine, Slinger would expect, is probably getting some hoots and catcalls, while Slinger gets called a lucky dog, one would expect.
Jasmine was waiting for the people to assemble in the Angel's Delight. The backroom being small, she was sitting on a small seat. And once she is she disappears for a few times and reappears after she talked a few times to Janie. The buxom asian looking spirit then reappears to stay. "Okay…this is going to be very taxing on me. So I need you to sacrifice some of your Karma, the lifeforce gained by your expenditures as living beings. I will distract the dweller so he will not bother you, but you need to be quick to enter the planes. This is very taxing on me, so if you are not quick it will not work."
Slinger lights a cigarette and inhales hard on it, breathing the smoke in fierce drags to get nicotine into his blood. It's hard to smoke on Astral Quests, and in a place of children it probably will get him in a lot of trouble. He finishes the thing in record time, then crushes it out, making sure it is completely extinguished. Having the room you're in burn down while you're out of your body can completely ruin your day. That done, Slinger nods once, and lays claim to a spot of floor. "Mental note. Next time, bring a mattress." He places a few calls as well, encouraging Smoke and Page to show up — and hurry. Apparently, we need extra people, and the Dweller can be distracted…"
Janie nods and makes herself comfortable, then takes a slow breath to center herself and grant the spirit what she needs.
Page shows up shortly thereafter, his ally spirit dropping the Invisibility spell and materializing in the room. "Am I paying energy for two or just one?" he asks amusedly, stretching and finding a comfy-looking spot to sit down, propped up against the wall.
«Plot» Slinger says, "Slinger will toss Jasmine 2 karma."
«Plot» Page will toss 2 karma himself. This is apparently a friend of Slinger's. :)
«Plot» Janie is rather tight in Karma right now so will only pay the cover charge.

Kara: Spirit Guide… and Poisoner
Jasmine moves to each of you in turn and hearing you mutter the formulae to make this more effective on her part, she touches each of you to receive her pay. This causes each of you a short rush of simple pleasures, that is replaced by darkness and the feel of floating. A large gate build from trees offers a look, into a soft rolling plains area. Lush grassland with soft hills rolling.
Slinger concentrates on delivering his gift of life energy… along with as much extra power as he can muster, channelling the energy through his magic. "There is another who may be coming," Slinger murmurs. "If he arrives… and if he can join us, then I would be appreciative." Slinger inclines his head, sending Jasmine a mental image of Smoke.
And then, he is in the rolling plains. The youth glances down at what he is wearing, which often gives a clue what role he will fulfill within the Quest itself. He glances around him for the others.
Long moments of silence projecting across the planes finally coalesce for Page, and he looks across the field of soft hills, glancing around breifly to make sure everyone else is here, then looks back across the lush, fields of grass. "Oh…" He sounds almost disappointed for some reason.
Janie drops into a crouch the moment she feels 'solid' ground under her feet; on the Metaplanes, you /never/ know what's next, after all. Best be ready. From the crouch she looks down at herself, then up at her surroundings.
Smoke sits back and slips from his physical shell and his astral form rises to join the others. He travels in the form of a smokey owl with strands of silver laced through his body. In his left hand is a glowing talon, his weapon foci tanto.
For now all of you seem unchanged, which in itself is not unusual. But the next thing you notice upon arrival is a small figure sitting in front of a low grass hut. A woman of undefinable age and she seems to be weaving baskets made from grass, her hair a flaxen blond color and her body dressed in rough looking clothes. She looks up at the arriving people and smiles softly, "I assume you are the friends Jasmine has announced. The ones that had a few pressing questions.", she says. Looking you up as if she herself was a kind of dweller. Each of you feeling as if you were looked into, as if you were a book to read.
As Smoke fades into existence, Slinger grins. "You made it!" the youth comments cheerfully, and reaches over to offer a high-five one of the owl's wispy wings. Slinger himself appears in his usual astral state — himself, yes, though perhaps slightly younger than his true form, clad in dark leather armor and a cloak. Like a medieval hero, of sorts.
The figure, though, draws Slinger's view, and he narrows his eyes. The Dweller? But no, she seems friendly enough. Slinger takes a step foward, indeed, but lets Janie handle conversing with this new spirit.
Smoke's form solidifies and assumes a fairly exact copy of himself excepting that he wears the smokey wings of an owl. He stays quiet for now, looking at the details of the area and then at the woman. He looks at Slinger, "Almost late. But I made it." He smiles and returns the high five.
Ourrez sniffs the air curiously, batting tentatively at some of the grass, then looks up and pads after Page as the mage walks alongside Slinger.
Page ambles along, clasping his hands behind his back thoughtfully, and mutters quietly to Slinger, "So who's lead?"
"Given what a disaster I was leading yesterday?" the elf asks, shaking his head. "Probably Mustang." He gives a quick gesture to indicate Janie, but keeps his words short, brief. After all, the spirit we are here to meet is present. Slinger gives her a warm, friendly smile, but keeps his mouth otherwise closed, acknowledges her question only with a small nod.
The woman sitting before that hut seems to have very good ears, she giggles softly under her breath as she hears those words. Other than that she waits for someone to really talk to her, the group making up their internal struggles.
Smoke watches Ourrez and marvels at the spirit. He smiles and nods to Page and then looks at Mustang. He stays back just a little, not wanting to make any mistakes. His eyes shift to owl shape and he peers behind them as well eventually shifting to look at the woman of the flaxen hair sitting in front of the hut.
Janie was waiting for Slinger to respond to the spirit when she overhears his response to Page, and stifles a groan and a few choice curses, then turns to face the spirit. "The entity held in the String of Tears has slipped its prison and is exerting its influence on the Physical plane. We-" she indicates the group with one arm "- have been investigating, but much knowledge has been lost to Mankind since it was last confined. We know that it is evil, that it threatens us all - but we don't know enough to recapture or destroy it. From what little we could gather, we learned to seek for the Sphere of the True Children, but not where or what that might be. We have come here to you to ask for your counsel."
See? Just what Slinger would have said, except phrased a lot more politely and diplomatically. Slinger listens attentively, learning, and gives another nod of agreement with Janie's words. "We have only the writings of the dragon to go from," Slinger explains. "And those are vague. We are grateful for your willingness to speak with us." A little additional information can't hurt things, can it?
Page remains silent for the moment, reaching down and scratching Ourrez behind the ears thoughtfully as he listens to the conversation occuring around him. He gives Smoke a light nod and smile, glad to see the Shaman here.
Smoke listens in earnest to the details and his ears perk at the mention of a dragon. He nervously shifts his weight from foot to foot and attempts to will himself to relax. This is his most favorite perspective, being out of body and in the metaplanes. He waits to see what the woman will say after Janie's inquiry.
Annie shimmers into existence somewhere in the astral. Well, an astral area with a bit of greenery and a hut. She takes a moment to check herself over; what sort of gear she has with her and whether the astral paradigm shifted her appearance or clothing to suit some bizarre cosmic joke at her experience. Fortunately this time she didn't appear in a smoky bar with a bronze pole. Greenery and a hut is definitely a preferred genre.
Kara nods as she hears those words from Janie. She examines each of you again, especially the new arrival. "Well, this means a stiff travel and as I am a being of the grasslands, you will have to walk the plains path. It will be a path down history and you will probably learn a few interesting things. But only as a close knit group will you be successfull, so I suggest you stop your internal struggles before you go on. If you feel up to a strong challenge, then I will lead you down that path. I am Kara one of the true children you seek, but only our council is allowed to answer the kind of questions you ask for."
Slinger nods once. Internal squabbles. There's no squabble. There's just Slinger acknowledging what he's bad at, and working to learn. At least, that's what he tells himself. The youth gives a warm smile once again and acknowledges with a nod. Janie's thank-you said it best. No need to say more.
The youth exhales and takes a step back with the others, then looks to Janie, waiting for her orders.
Page quirks his mouth thoughtfully, almost faintly amused, but doesn't speak up, either, standing up and stretching a bit. Waiting.
Smoke looks at the others and inclines his head somewhat. "I have no feelings of ill will toward any of you. There is no animosityin my heart. This evil must be put down and I will set aside my fears in the attempt to create a strong union among us." The shaman speaks quietly and then goes silent. His eyes look bright and energetic as they dart from group member to group member.
Annie looks over at the others, then offers a nod to the spirit as well. "I'm ready. While History was never one of my truly strong points, it isn't one of my weakest either.", she shrugs and adds, "Let's get this show on the road."
Kara nods then she enters her hut and the sounds you hear seem to indicate she is cooking something. She is muttering intelligible words as she does that all the time and finally emerges with a small pot containing a fluid that looks a real ugly poisonous red. She distributes it to small wooden cups and offers a cup to each of you. "Drink this, my dears if you want to go on the journey. You need it. But be warned, this is not for the weak to drink…"
Slinger's eyes follow the red substance. In the real world? He wouldn't touch the stuff. But here? He has no option but to accept it. This is an unusual place — and already he can feel that he is weaker than he would usually be on a Quest. He reaches out to accept the cup with both hands, then lifts it to his lips. Shuddering, the elf drinks it.
Annie sighs and accepts the proffered cup, sniffing and swirling the contents experimentally for a second or two. She pauses just long enough to watch Slinger drink and verify that the younger elf doesn't spontaneouly combust from within. Finally she raises the cup in a 'tomorrow we die' style toast and downs the contents in a single gulp, offering the empty mug back to Kara should she remain standing and conscious after the potent draught.
Page eyes the cup. Then, well, he eyes the rest of people to see what they're doing. And whether or not they keel over and die. It certainly doesn't look like your average health drink.
Smoke takes one of the little cups and stares into it. He steels himself and then tips the cup back, knocking the liquid down as quickly as he can.

Somehow, Slinger manges to choke it down. But even so, he looks a little paler than normal; clearly, it had some effect upon him. "Wow," is all the elf can say, wiping his mouth off — and then glances at his sleeve to make sure the red stuff isn't eating a hole in his clothing.
Annie winces slightly as the fluid seems to explode into her head and her stomach simultaneously. "Nasty crap", she growls with a grimace as she returns the mug to its owner.
Smoke reels as the drink washes into and through him. The feeling drains him and he is unsteady on his feet for a moment. He coughs and blinks trying to get his senses together.
Well, it looks like everybody else is still alive. Still Page eyes it for several seconds. Then finally he looks over at Slinger. "Hey, can you buff my fortitude for a minute?"
Slinger exhales a breath, and reaches for his cigarettes, just to see if they are in the pocket he keeps them in, in reality. After all, his habit is a part of him, a part of who he is, and often his smokes come with him on a Quest. He claps Smoke on the shoulder. "You okay?" he asks the Shaman, while he gives Janie and Annie concerned looks. Janie seems totally fine, but everyone else is having at least a little trouble. Page's question draws a lift of his brow. "I… can try," the elf admits. He takes a breath and attempts it.
Slinger concentrates for a moment, then shakes his head. "No mojo here, omae," he tells Page apologetically.
"I will make it I think. That was rough." Smoke says to Slinger. "Perhaps my strength will return over time. But at least it didn't kill me." He gives a slight smirk and tries to stand a little taller.
Kara giggles softly at that last exchange. She looks at Page, "In this you have to rely on your own inherent strength. If you fail this test it is better for you to wake with a headache in your body then die later due to your lack of fortitude."
Page shrugs his shoulders. "Well, it was worth a try. And now we know spells won't work. AS always." He rolls his eyes regarding that particular wacky facet of the metaplanes. "One day we gotta figure that out, you know." He eyes the drink again. "Well… here's to spirits. As it were." He braces himself and drinks the thing down.
Slinger pulls out a cigarette and lights it up, inhaling deeply. The nicotine flows through him, helping a little with the nausea. But at least it gets that bitter taste out of his mouth. He offers the pack around to those who want one, as he shakes his head to clear it — and watches Page warily, ready to intervene if the poison appears to be too much for his friend.
The mage manages to finish off the entire thing, and his face goes through several very curious iterations of revulsion, 'oh my god', and pain. "GODS above, what the hell is this crap? Does this even /EXIST/?"
"It exists enough that I'm wondering if my body is lying back on the floor retching," the elf mutters, exhaling a cloud of smoke. He seems to be feeling better, through, and turns to Kara. "Just tell me that was necessary, and not just having fun at our expense, huh?" he asks, with a hint of a grin. He can play along with the joke, if it is one. "Otherwise… which way?"
Evolution — Entering the Plains
The last thing yu see is Kara nod, then as everyone has drunk the potion, all of you feel very light, as if floating. All around you starts to get a blur, you feel water around you a simple state of nurturing fluid around you. Then you feel your conciousness grow sharper as you feel living through a kind of fast motion episode, living through evolving from an simple one cell organism into the first swamp-dwellers, that evolved into the first air breathing beings and to finally evolve into the first apes, the first time you eel yourselves again other than a fleeting experience of ever changing organism is when you sit in a small group of dried trees in the middle of a large prairie. You are humoid apes of roughly chimpanzee like features but your conciousness is fully there, filtered through the mental parameters your current bodies can provide. Some of you feel parched (the ones that dook stun) and all of you very hungry. That prarie is frightening each of you immensely. Yet all that is left of your once huge flourishing wood is those dead trees.
«ADMIN» Kara says, "No gear on you. Cyber and stuff that is not concerned with technology will still work but it is not physically available or visible."
«ADMIN» Kara says, "For now all your foci are simple sticks and stuff that you 'decorated' yourself with. I leave that to your imagination. Janies guns are two crude clubs. As are all weapon foci."
«ADMIN» Kara says, "You have only one language skill at 1 and all skill related to technolgy are gone. But all of you have survival at your best technology skill and clubs at your best combat skill. And no, just a club, Annie."
Slinger suddenly lacks a cigarette. Lacks fire. Lacks… clothing, in fact, and suddenly he is overwhelmed by a sense of gnawing hunger and fear. His eyes turn to the others, confused; he can't think straight right now, can't focus. His mind is a blur, and the world is suddenly an incomprehensible, scary place. But he has companions with him, and instinctively, he draws closer, while he glances around him. He is unarmed. His eyes move around him as he approaches one of the dead trees and begins pulling at one of the limbs, to snap it off and arm himself with a club.
Annie leans heavily on her staff focus as is her usual relaxation habit, stumbling slightly as the length seems to have shortened an uncomfortable amount. She grumbles a bit as the realization hits her how ineffective a simple club is as supportive leaning device. It's going to be a long slow evolutionary period. She can tell that much already. She quietly watches the others as they mill around, gathering and forming crude weapons. Food is something of a priority at this point, not that her body is at all accustomed to actually eating…but that Smoke fellow…with a proper garnish and a good herb sauce…
Smoke blinks a few times as the reality shifts. He assesses the situation carefully and looks around for a water source, or perhaps fruit of some kind because his throat feels dry. He scratches himself absent mindedly with his right hand just under his chin. He holds a small stick for prodding or poking in his left as he looks about. His eyes scan the prairie, always looking for danger. He sniffs at the wind as well. He has had a taste of primitive conditions during dreamwalking before, but never quite this stark.
Page glances down where there was a tiger. Oh, Ourrez is a little ape-child thing at this point. Well, that's better than a full-grown tiger, neh? No need to run for his life. He pats Ourrez's head lightly and then picks up some of the grass, sniffing at it thoughtfully and looking ouat across the plains as he starts to chew on one piece.
With a crack of wood, Slinger manages to snap off a club for him to use, and swings it a few times. "Good," the elf-chimp manages to intone, as he forms the words gutterally, then drifts back to the others. "Need food. Plants dead. Trees dead. Game gone. Where find food?" he wants to know. The gnawing in his belly and the fuzziness of his thoughts is making this difficult.
Janie's fingers - longer than she remembers them, for some reason - curl around the familiar-unfamiliar grips of the two clubs she bears with her and stands with her back to her tribe, examining the horizon for threats that might come, or opportunities to eat - or things that might be both.

Slinger lifts an arm and points toward the distance, where his eyes can make out forest-land. "New forest. That way. Green and full of life!" His eyes light up. He's hungry. He actually starts toward it — then stops. "Uh. Lions," he hisses, and lifts his club. But it's clear he's wary. "That way. Near trees. Sneak past?"
Janie nods. "They haven't seen us yet," she replies. "Big…" She glances at Slinger. "More than one?"
Smoke grunts and looks at the others. He is not an alpha. He watches the rear as they begin to move. He stays low and tries to remain concealed in the grass as he shuffles along. He sniffs at the air again and waits to see what the others will do. His hunger is enough that he wants the forest as well. Trees mean water. Lions. Lions are not good, they are tooth and claw.
Annie rises up to as full of her height as she can manage, shading her eyes from the sunlight as she peers toward the forest and the supposed lions. Mmm. Lion steaks. Lion fricasee. Lion con carne. Lion kebab. She hefts her club experimentally in one fist as her now primitive brain calculates the threat potential imposed by a pride of lions, and whether she can run faster than her other tribe mates if things go awry.
Well, a cave lion, definitely runs faster than any of you, is stronger and definitely has a better hunting technique.
Slinger does crouch down, shifting his grasp on the club, testing its strength. "Three. Maybe many." He licks his lips nervously. Lions are not good to eat. Too tough and stringy. But sometimes they have prey that is good to eat, drug back for feasting. If one can deal with the lions." He glances back to the others, carefully. "If fight… can we win?"
Annie doesn't have to run faster than the lion.
… Just faster than Slinger.
Janie ponders Slinger's question, then closes her eyes for a moment to look inward and seek out her magic. She remembers fighting opponents much more dangerous than a single lion, but…
The Ape formerly known as Page contemplates that. After a few seconds of thoughtfulness, he goes about finding himself a club, too, some nice sturdy hardwood cured by sun and shine. He gives a smaller piece to his little apeling, who bares his teeth fiercely. Yeah, kid. Pat, pat.
Smoke ponders the spirit realm. He looks to the dried trees for sign of his totem. It is daytime. The owl would rarely be out in the day. He places a palm to the ground, feeling for the spirits of the prairie. Then he casts his perception skyward feeling for the spirits of the air.
«ADMIN» Pelmen says, "You have nothing but the Heal spell currently. The astral is visible but not accessible via projecting."
Annie sighs and dismisses the idea of testing out her culinary skills on some nice thick lion steaks. "Too dan-ger-ous.", she sounds out experimentally and then adds, "Sneak more better."
Slinger nods. "Sneak," he agrees. "Fail at sneak, then fight." He glances to Janie, knowing instinctively that she is stealthy, and crouches down, preparing to see if we can make it past the lions, moving slowly and stealthily. Nope! No prey here. With luck, maybe the lions aren't hungry…
Smoke understands sneaking. He grunts softly in an affirmative and prepares to follow, the stick held tightly in his left hand. He glances at the garland of vines woven about his wrist hoping that it will bring him luck if there is an attack.
Annie isn't real good at sneaking, but she is more than willing to try. She pulls up a few tufts of grass and tangles it into her hair to sort of break the outline up a bit, then adds a bit of organic non-poo type camouflage as well. Unfortunately poo and urine was always big on the primitive camo and scent masking scene, but she would rather be cat chow at this point.

The trek seems to go well, as Janie looked for a sufficient route and your skill seems good to avoid the lions. It's tedious work and it shows that you are quite a bit away from your destination. Those of you that are already parched definitely need some water quick or there is the threat of getting serious trouble with the heat that wafts over these plains. Damn inexperience in walking over open areas.
Page tiptoes along with the rest, with a small ape-child hiding inside his shadow, almost invisible in the tall grass.
"Thirsty," Slinger whispers to the others, while his eyes flick over his surroundings. He licks his parched lips, while his eyes hunt longingly for a stream, or something we could drink from. The forest, with its promise of potential water and food, seems so far away. Too far to make it…
Smoke feels the pain of thirst welling up in him. He sniffs at the wind to see if the scent of water is nearby. He does look for small green plants that might be enough to stave off the thirst as well. "need water." The native ape mumbles.
Annie doesn't really think about the food or water. Best to keep the mind on not attracting the attention of cats, and making sure not to put a foot on a viper that might be lurking in the tall grass. She focuses on moving slowly and in time to the fluttering of the wind through the grass, and freezing should one of the lions look her way.

The heat of the plains becomes too much and Smoke falters, going to a knee. He is just barely able to keep his other knee from coming down onto a dry branch. Snapping that would have alerted the lions. He heaves for breath and tries to focus on just surviving, barely able to get moving again.
Slinger reaches back, his furry hand grasping the other male's shoulder. "We find water soon," he promises his friend. "Keep going." There is sympathy in his gutteral voice, full of emotion and passionate power that characterizes Slinger's usual personality. And once again, he looks around for anything drinkable. Some of us may not make it to the forest without something else. He shoots a wary glance toward the place the lions were perched. Making sure we aren't spotted, yet.
Page tags along, moving as quietly as he can. Let's face it, he's no master ninjas. No, let's face it - ninjas don't even exist yet! And so he will go along with the rest, trying to be even half as sneaky as his little youngling is.
"Sssh," comes Janie's voice, barely more than a whisper but still with the authority of command. "Lion hears, we all die."
Slinger shoots Janie an apologetic, ashamed glance, but complies. Saying nothing more, but instead proceeding cautiously. No water in sight. No way to find any. He would drink the blood of something if he could find it, but instead concentrates on staying quiet, staying with the leader.
Smoke's eyes lock on Slinger and a nod comes from him. Then Two-Clubs speaks and he concentrates as hard as he can to be quiet as he moves.

To (Slinger, Annie), Pelmen pages: You will realize that cave lions need a lot of water and there by water must be close by, in fact there are some green reeds looking out of the otherwise much drier grass close ahead.
Slinger stays low, his eyes sweeping the horizon. Then, he freezes. He lightly taps Janie on the shoulder, then points to the reeds, wordlessly. Then pantomimes drinking, with his hands. Reeds like that do not grow in the desert; there must be water there. Even if there is not a lot, it would be enough to sustain our friend. He starts carefully moving that way.
Annie absently blows a frond of grass from her eyes. Maybe the grass in the hair thing was a bit over thought. She indicates the reeds about the same second Slinger does, licking her lips at the mere thought of water.
Janie nods at Slinger and heads toward the reeds, examining them carefully and sniffing them.
Smoke follows quietly, his entire focus on staying conscious and keeping with the others. Each step is careful. He feels the others getting excited about something. Water. water would help so much. He takes a deep breath on continues.
The reeds in themselves are not very interesting, maybe limited nutrition in their roots, but they are as Slinger and Annie suspected standing in a small pond.
Ooooh. Water. Page looks after it thirstily, but his thirst is curbed by caution. This is, after all, the astral. It's probably poisoned, or has pirahana, or some giant creature will jump out of it, or they'll get sucked in and transported into a different time in the future. He knows how these things work. So he waits, and watches.
Slinger approaches the water warily — but he doesn't drink yet, instead standing guard while the others due, diligently, his club at the ready. He stays low, resisting the temptation to stand up and get a better view. If he can see the lions, they can likely see him. And that… would be bad.
Janie sniffs suspiciously at the water. The fact that those reeds seem to be thriving in them /probably/ suggests it's safe to drink, but…
Annie takes the plunge, dipping her hand carefully into the water from one of the less slime-covered portions within reach and cupping a bit of the precious fluid therein. She sniffs it experimentally, then takes a slow sip.
Smoke kneels near the edge of the water and cups his hands to create a bowl. He looks around carefully and then scoops up a mouthful in his hands. He drinks just a small amount, not wanting to get sick.
The water tastes good, a tad dirty, but you had worse as the water in your wood dried up. All seems calm.
Slinger waits for the others to drink, while he stands guard, then crouches down to drink, himself, greedily. He takes long pulls of the water, filling his gut with it — it's a long way, still, to the other forest. Once done, he wipes his mouth off, dries his hand on the reeds, then picks up his club again. A swift nod to Janie indicates he's ready to continue.
Janie watches over the others while they drink, and then reaches down to drink herself once they're done. A brief sip, then she rises again and silently points toward the woods. Almost there.
Once he knows the water seems good enough to drink, Smoke drinks a little more and tries to sink into the shade of the reeds to get out of the direct sun. He remembers the woven basket that Kara was working on and starts
to break some of the reeds off. The weaving of them didn't seem that difficult.

Annie feels a bit better, the lingering headache finally dissipating as she gets some fluids in her system. She looks toward the still distant forest and mentally steels herself for the trip while the others slake their thirst on the bacteria laden pool. Damn cats probably spray all over the place…but best not to think about that.
Our stomaches are strong. That is what Slinger tells himself. The water tastes good enough, pure and clean, and like Annie, he tries not to think too much about what might have gone into it. He's ready, club hefted, and ready to follow Two-Clubs whereever she leads.
Smoke gets a small armload of the reeds, enough to try to weave with later and his poke stick and starts off after the others.

Slinger glances to Smoke, slips over to him to assist. The rush of water may have left his friend temporarily less able to be sneaky, and he lays a hand on his shoulder, helping to urge him downward… but it's too late. The lion is on the move, and Slinger grabs his club, tensing, as he prepares for the impending, unavoidable battle. He quickly guides his friend toward some cover, using whatever is available to perhaps try again to hide from the big cat…
Annie crouches quietly as it becomes apparent that one of the big cats is on it's way. She hefts the club in her hand, wondering and hoping that it is still as effective as it normally would be. If not, this could be a short and nasty battle.
Smoke readies his poking stick, staying back and sinking low in the grass as he moves. Inwardly cursing himself that the lion had heard him break the bush branches. He watches the grasses and Two-Clubs as well, ready to run if ordered, but doing what he is told to now.
Janie notices the lion's attention as well, and motions for her tribe to go to ground, then clutches her clubs firmly and starts circling around, preparing to strike the lion's flank if it tries to jump the slow one.
Page sniffs the air lightly. Oh, yay. Lions. He steadies his club and gives a light nod to his little youngling.
The little hominoid bares his teeth and looks fierce!
One lion and it quickly appears on the scene. It smells you out too easily once it has an idea where you are, and comes at you following your trail.

Annie slinks through the glass, flanking the approaching lion on the side opposite Janie. She moves quietly through the tall cover, the holds herself ready to join in when the attack is finally commenced.
Two-sticks slows her breathing as she paces the lion near its left flank, waiting patiently as it sniffs the air and takes it bearings. Very soon now it will commit to the attack on her tribe…
and in that moment, its guard will be down.
She doubts the lion itself knows it consciously when the moment comes, but the tensing of its muscles in preparation for the leap tells her what it intends clear as day, and just as those massive muscles begin uncoiling, their lethal strength fully committed to entirely the wrong movement, she strikes, lashing out with her sticks to the joint in its hind legs.

Annie leaps into action shortly after Janie, her mystical magical club slamming with uncanny precision into the side of the beasts furry toot-laden face. The critter staggers, the near constant damage simple too much for it, and it falls to the ground unconscious.
As the lion finally rests quiet, you are suddenly all feling the shadow of somehting /hhuge/ glide over you. A look up confirms it to be a dragon, the next sight, of it spewing forth fire scares about each of you to hell and back. But then the fire hits the grass behind you and several loud cried of pain can be heard as other lions are grilled by the powerfull dragon fire. The other lions flee.
Slinger lets out a whoop of triumph as the lion is felled; the melee has created enough noise that stealth seems pointless. He is already tensing, preparing to attack the next lion if it is foolish enough to try to attack us, his confidence in our fighting prowess buoyed by the ease with which this beast was dispatched.
But then, the shadow passes overhead, and something instinctive within his primate makeup, leftover from the rodent stage of mammalian development, forces him to crouch down — and he watches
with wide-eyed awe as the dragon arcs overhead, exhaling a fearsome gout of flame. Whimpering, he crouches lower, primal fear claiming him.
The monkey formerly known as Page watches as his little kidling smacks the lion in the nose, along with everybody else, and then glances up before grabbing his kid, hitting the ground and sucking dirt. Never run from anything immortal. It attracts their attention.
Smoke raises his eyes and stares at the magnificent creature. He raises his small pointy stick high into the air for just a moment and then realizes that may not be the smartest thing to do. He feels the intensity of the combat and the dragon and goes quiet. As he crouches he scrutinizes the members of the clan that had defeated the creature, looking for wounds.
Annie quickly drops prone the instant the dragon is spotted soaring past and maneuvers herself toward some of the nearby cover that was not trampled down by the thrashing lion. She licks her lips inadvertently as the thought of bbq'ed lion passes through her brain. It's going to be a good day for Ape clan provided that dragon does not linger in the area.
Two-Sticks crouches over the unconscious lion, then looks up as the shadow passes over her head and scowls. With enough guile, courage and strength a lion can be overcome — but a dragon can not. The best you can do is keep your head down and hope it doesn't want you as an appetizer.
The dragon, after it's attack flaps it's mighty wings and gains height again, soon to be just the size of a large bird of prey circling above. Though it's shape varies much from those. It seems to watch, seems to look curiously what you are going to do next.
Slinger slowly seems to lose some of the fear — at least, if we are not immediately attacked. "What we do now?" he whispers, directing the question to Two-Sticks. She is the leader, and the primitive instincts of obedience to her confidence comes easily in this form. "It… it watches us." He slowly cranes his neck from his place of hiding, warily watching it circle.
This… Is odd. The dragon sees the clan, but it does not attack, nor does it leave. Despite her instincts telling her to flee, Two-sticks stays and observes the dragon in turn. This is something new; something she senses she needs to understand, even if she does not comprehend the implications… Yet.
Page holds fast, watching the rest, as the kid looks to him warily. Well, if the rest aren't panicking… probably no need for him to panic, yet. So he just lies there, watching.
Smoke moves carefully and looks over Two-Sticks, Janie and Ourezz for wounds and surprised that the ferocious lion didn't wound any of them. He nods to Two-Sticks, "No Blood." He says rather grunt-like. He taps the pointed stick in is palm. His eyes straying back up to the flying creature.
Annie stays crouched down, eyeing the dragon warily. Dragons are unpredictable at best, and at the worst… well, the dead lions attest to that. She waits, watching, remaining hidden for the moment.
Slinger hesitates, licking its lips. "It waiting for us to do something. I… I go, ahead, see if it attacks me?" he offers, with a bravery that belies the thudding of his heart in his chest with primal fear.
Janie shakes her head at the Young Old One's offer. "No. We go on. /Around/." She starts heading for the woods in a direction away from the dragon, suppressing a sigh of relief as it flies off overhead.
Slinger is a bit disappointed; as a young warrior of the tribe, he is /supposed/ to be the bravest, and already that whimper rings in his ears as a sign of his own weakness and lack of courage. But the orders are given, and he nods once before slipping out of the bushes, slipping along after Two-Sticks. He is not near the warrior that either of the two females are, however, and so he stays in his subservient position as the group moves toward the new wooded area. Even within it, though, he continues to be cautious, even as his nostrils twitch, seeking the smell of fresh game.
Annie, as one of the stronger warriors, stays at the opposite end of the group from Two-Sticks, making sure the younger ones are protected. Even she, though, relaxes just a little once the wooded area is reached, along with the cover it offers.
Smoke looks to the more dominant members of the tribe and watches behind them as they start to move. He looks to Page and Ourrez and stays close to them now as they move around towards the forest. His eyes keep darting up to the sky and then creature that he is almost sure chose them to survive for some reason.
Page stands up, creeping along with the rest. Having dragons in the sky makes him… uncomfortable. Especially when they're not acting dragon-ish. To the forest, they shall go.
Agriculture
Once you reach that woodland the time starts to increase it's flow again. You feel your race grow out of the 3rd age the clan always guarded by the dragon until one day it never came back. During the 4th age the clan grew larger and more powerfull. The time slows again as a large group of hunters arrived back at home. Simple huts on the prairie. One of the females that had stayed was digging in the dirt and, of all things dropping precious seeds into the ground. Worse even, she seemed to be happy to do this.
«ADMIN» Pelmen says, "Each of you is now dressed in primitive leathers. Your bodies are more human like. The shamen are … shamen. Full magic. The huts are a winter camp and I leave it up to you whether it's an NPC or you want it to be one of you. Both is okay."
«ADMIN» Pelmen says, "Ourrez is a wolf."
«ADMIN» Pelmen says, "All have one language on native level."
Kaivan returns from the hunt, slipping the brace of rabbits over his shoulder. No big game, but these will make a decent stew. And hopefully the younger ones have found some tubers. Just the thought of the meal makes him lick his lips in anticipation.
But then, he catches sight of what the woman is doing, and his eyes widen. He slips the tied vine over his other shoulder, charges over to grasp her wrist. "What are you doing?" he demands, his eyes flashing, voice full of aggression. "The tribe worked a whole day to gather those! At /your/ insistence!" he reminds her.
Smoke crouches and looks at the woman sewing the seeds. He looks at the hunters and then back to her again scratching his head and his hand moving to hold his medicine bag. He tilts his head, looking at Kaiven, "Let her go, this makes me think. This ritual has meaning."
Well, that was disorienting. Page looks over the huts thoughtfully, then looks down by his side. Ah, wolves. He reaches down and scruffles the wolf's neckscruff. Then he heads back to the huts, looking over the fields. Interesting. He rubs his chin thoughtfully.
Kaivan's nostrils flare as the Shaman addresses him. But the Shamen have power — and he, a young warrior, does not. He releases the girl's wrist, however, obeying — aware he is losing face in doing so. "Yes, Shaman," he says, giving due deference to the man. Even so, he watches what she is doing with narrowed eyes.
Janie holds up her free hand in a soothing gesture. "Kaivan's questions are honest and deserve an answer," she points out, then looks at the woman. "But she has a purpose in mind. Let her tell us what it is before you make accusations."
The woman shakes her head to Smokes defense and replies to Kaivan's words. "The spirits let the grass grow where it's seeds fall. I try to make them grow here, so we can harvest them without having to look for them around the landscape. If this works, one day worth og collecting will be worth weeks of collecting later."
"Does it really make a difference to what we eat tonight?" Page replies, looking over at Kaivan. "We don't need no seeds. We've got game."
Smoke nods at the idea although it means not a lot of roving, and guarding the place of growing. He wonders what the spirits will say, but for now he nods. He looks at Kaivan and pats his shoulder, "Perhaps you could be in charge of making sure one of the hunters guards this place and keeps the sown seeds safe." He says trying to give the hunter back some control and face.
Kaivan shrugs his shoulder. "Far be it from me to question what the spirits will do." Smoke's suggestion draws a squaring of Kaivan's shoulders. "If you so wish it, Shaman, then I obey." He slips the brace of rabbits from his shoulder, and hands it off to another tribesman, then reaches over his shoulder for his weapon.

And so the summer passes — and Kaivan stands guard, diligently, remembering the Shaman's words. He guards the young woman as she works — and no one is more surprised than Kaivan when where she dropped the seeds, plants begin to grow. He watches with awe as they sprout, and blossom, and helps her tend those fields where he can — and on several occasions, he kills the deer or rabbits that come to feed upon the food in the night, providing even more food for the tribe.
Janie is always more at home stalking prey in the woods than living in the village. She hopes the woman's experiments with growing plants is successful - but at the same time, she's determined to ensure the tribe's survival if it isn't.
Page shows back up after a few hours, covered with scratches. "Did you know," he says, as Ourrez comes up alongside him with a slight limp, "that lions can hide in berry patches?" He pulls out a bag full of berries.
Kaivan winces as he sees what happened to Page. He shifts his pike in his hands; beside him are plants that are growing big and tall, and bearing various sorts of fruit and foodstuffs, nearly ready for harvest. "I wouldn't know," he grumbles. "Been a long time since I got to hunt, except killing things that came to steal our food." Our food, the youth says. Then, he cranes his neck. "Where's our Shaman?"
Smoke stumbles to the edge of the field and kneels, tossing a few rabbit on a teather onto the ground before him. He looks tired and washed out, physically worn to the bone. But he does his alotted share. He nods to the others and then sits and stares at the field.
Villagers
Time races up again as you see Agriculture leading to more stability in a culture and from these first steps Villages develop. Until the small village grows into a town. Your Journey finally brings you to a long square where a man is reading out a decrete. The people around seem less than inclined to like it. There is airships cruising the air above you and the crowd is of a very varied nature in matters of races (4th world races). You are all back to the full use of your natural properties. The people around you listening to the words of the speaker as guards show up, seemingly intent to arrest a man speaking up against some despotic King.
«ADMIN» Pelmen says, "'Time' heals half you damage. If damage is just L it is gone."
Kaivan scowls and glances at the others with him in his group. He shifts his leather armor on his shoulders; he has certain abilities, yes, and perhaps the others in the town know of him. As the guards show up, Slinger steps forward, readying his defenses — and testing whether he can actually use his foci, his normal abilities, as he attempts to activate his Dark Armor focus. "Stop!" he says to the guards. "This man's words are just words. If they are false, then the village will ignore him. If they are true… then they deserve to be heard!" He is taking a huge risk here, but perhaps it is worth taking. Even so, he readies his own defenses, just waiting for a charge of Witchcraft…
Somehow each of you seems involved in some way to the speaker, which brings you to the interesting situation how to avoid being arrested or even help the poor guy the guards are after. The crowd, though obviously tending to agree with the mans views is indifferent to his arresting.
Janie scowls at the guards and starts moving through the crowd, blending in among the peasants on her way to the podium while calling quietly for the genus loci to grant her and the speaker its protection of Concealment.
«OOC» Page says, "Any of the guards magically active?"
«ADMIN» Pelmen says, "All of them in some way."
Page glances over the size of the crowd. And the T'skrang. And Obsidian. And hey, look, Windlings! His fists twitch for some reason. Oh, hey, Ourrez is all good again. He runs a hand through his hair, assensing the guards breifly, then looks over at Slinger. "You don't… /actually/ expect them to listen to us, do you?" He seems almost amused at the idea while he engages his Filtering, then looks over the guards, ready to engage his Levitate if they get too close.

Smoke stays quiet, listening. Kings can be dangerous. He grips the tanto beneath his cloak. His eyes rove over the crowd and he looks at his friends. He feels physically at about half speed and waits for a queue from his friends on which direction they will be taking. He takes the scene in as well, unsure of where or when they are.
The guards leader just cries out, "In the name of the king. Roland Greybeard is under arrest for treason! Anyone helping him will be considered a traitor to the state, too. I offer you one minute to surrender or you will face the consequences!"

Page looks at the guards, then sighs, shaking his head slightly, and then proceeds along the ground, following along where Slinger looks to be heading. If Slinger gets too far ahead - well, he just might have to Levitate himself and Ourrez to follow.
Smoke just follows Page as best he can, weaving through the crowd. He tries to stay stealthy without casting magic in his weakened state. His eyes stay peeled on the speaker, or at least where the speaker was. Then as the crowd gets thicker he just stays behind Page.
«ADMIN» Pelmen says, "Hmmm, just a little hint. You have no automatic weapons, and those guards are quite a lot. All of them magical too and prepped up to counter whatever is thrown at them. You face at least 50 guards there…And none of them look like they are just easy game. Your guns are crossbows, Janie, replace the skills accordingly."
There are a lot of guards. Slinger hadn't realized how many until he actually lifted up into the air. The elf shakes his head. He is going to be the one guarding the others, as best he can. He reaches out mentally and places an armor spell upon Greybeard, hopefully one that will assist him in resisting any damage while the others help him get away.
