Synopsis: The runners were hired to hijack a truck before others hijack it.
Date: April 10 2070

Fandango's fellow ganger, Danae, has let him know that there's some shit going down in the warrens, and he's to meet a contact here at the Cybered arms, so he's donned his armored clothes, checked his ammo, and set off with a duffel bag full of goodies to the meet.

Silk is currently seated at a corner table watching the door. She has an untouched drink set off to one side and is drawing a few looks from the regulars, although no one has approached her yet.

Criticalfault arrives duffel bag in tow. He spots Silk and moves over closer to her table, waiting for her to give the okay for him to get closer.

Razorpoint enters easily enough. His blue eyes surveying the bar. He received word about a job, now to find this "Silk" person. So, he checks with the Bartender?

Silk nods to CriticalFault and motions to a seat, shifting her weight a little as others enter and leave the room. Dark eyes scan the place as she tracks who may be here for work and who is just a serial drinker.

Keenan will send Razorpoint Silk's direction when asked, just nodding in that direction.

Razorpoint is all the while watching his back in here for sure. He long coat moves out and he effortless slides over to where Silk is seated. He smiles toward her, "I'd like in on the work , if there is a seat open ?"

Glancing up to Razorpoint, the small elven woman gestures towards a seat, speaking quietly, "By all means, take a seat. I think we have another coming, and then we can get on with the talking points and lay out the job."

Criticalfault moves and sits down silently next to Razor, taking out his poc-sec and clicking a few keys. "I'm more than likely in as well. So long as I think I can do what you need done."

Fandango settles into the group's table, nodding to the others present.

Once Fandango settles in, Silk leans in and starts speaking, "I'll be brief as your time is valuable. There is a truck that is going to pass through the Warzone from here in two hours, heading towards Orktown. I need this truck seized and brought back to the Arms in good condition. The truck needs to be driveable and the contents undisturbed. Your methods of taking the truck are up to you as long as those conditions are met."

She pauses and glances to the three men, then adds, "The payment for this task is 60,000 =Y=."

Criticalfault nods slowly, "Hrmm, I should be able to help in this task. I'm in."

Fandango nods his head at that, "Alright, that sounds possible." he comments as he considers things. "Truck going through this place ought to be pretty slow, given the state of the tarmac." he comments to the others. "Should be no trouble to disable the driver. I've got some neurostun grenades. Get one of them in the window, and they'll be done."

Criticalfault says "Sounds like a plan to me."

Razorpoint sits next to Criticalfault. Oddly enough the brown hairied elf smells like dog and charcoal ? Time for biz so he is in a relaxed professional mode. Still watching his back. He looks to Silks then over toward Fandango and a faint grin. Back to silks, "I am in."

Criticalfault says "I can do some sniper over watch if we know where its going to be exactly…make sure to keep our backs watched."

The rest of the bar is quietly ignoring Silk's table. It isn't that they aren't listening or trying to listen, it is just that they aren't looking this way. It's a Warrens thing.

Silk says, "Alright. The truck is a GMC 'dog with a cowcatcher on the front, painted primer and brown. They'll have two to four guys playing outrider on cycles, maybe a few in the truck." She'll rap her knuckles on the tabletop and remark, "Bring it back here, payment will be waiting."

Razorpoint comments, "Won't change squat for me but can we know who is bring the truck this way ?"

Fandango nods his ehad at the others. "Alright. Sounds good, I'm in." And then he stands and glances to his team-mates, "Well, then, no time to loose I suppose."

Leaning back, the elven fixer says, "As I recall, the man who sent the truck this way was named Rico. No idea on the names of the actual drivers, however."

Criticalfault nods to Fandango, "I agree. Lets get a choke point down for the man with the grens."

Criticalfault stands up and waits for his new team to gather as he sticks his earpeice in and sets his frequency, "Sync up comms?"

Razorpoint stands smoothly, "Thanks we will be back." …Yes, that sounds good but not in here. Razorpoint decides to follow Fandango to where ever.

Silk nods and settles back in her seat, letting the runners head off to make their plans. The moment they are headed for the door, a dwarf rises from a nearby table and heads over, carrying a small bag and starts speaking, "Ms. Silk? I was told to come to you with a problem. You see, .." He'll settle down and start talking earnestly as business never stops here.

Criticalfault stays close to Fandango and Razor, "This is where the trucks gonna come through?"

Fandango ducks as a stray ricocheting bullet flies past, and then puts a hand on his hat to keep it from being blown away. He looks about a bit, and then stuffs a hand back into his pocket. "I dunno, but with the state of the roads as they are, there aren't going to be many roads a bulldog could take through here."

The route out of the Rez and into the Warzone is one of the most watched routes in all of the city, if not the Southwest. A favored ambush spot, it is a running joke that the sniper positions and ambush spots have cute names like 'Highground' and 'Deathwatch' and 'KillThemAllVille'. At any given time, there are three to ten ambushes or preparations for such.

Down the road, the Warzone lurks, the occasional sounds of gunfire present even here. Smoke lingers in the air like a forgotten lover, signaling a fire somewhere.

Criticalfault looks around a bit, "Man, a truck coming through here is gonna have run flats and armor…all kinds of not stopping for anyone kind of tech on it. Ideas?"

Razorpoint seems very aware if not somewhat wary coming in here. The warzone, an apt name, chummer. He speaks quietly, "I am thinking two problems mainly , … One , I am without a car or bike and two , how do we do this uninterrupted . He ducks as some bullets wiz right on by. "And we are right in the drek now. Snipers here this an't good. Another flare goes up randomly. "All I can do is keep blasten the tires regardless." Looking between his fellow Shadowrunners.

Fandango shakes his head a bit. "I'll find somewhere near the road to hide. One of you takes out a window, and I fill the cabin with Neurostun. I can also fire a grapple line across the road to try an clothesline the bikers off their bikes."

Criticalfault grins, "Damn chum, thats right of out of a sim, but i'm in. I'll hit the window…be ready!". He takes off taking his bag in tow to one of these "famous" sniper positions.

Off in the Warzone, the sounds of an explosion leave little doubt that someone was fragged hard. The faint sounds of submachine gun fire follows. From the sound and faintness, it is probably a mile or two off.

Fandango snickers a little, "Let's just hope someone else doesn't knock the van off before we get the chance. Alright, I'm going to find somewhere to hide." he tells them.

Razorpoint was about to speak but guess not. He decides to hide across and opposite from Fandango.

«Plot» Criticalfault says, " Going to find a spot to see the road, setup my rifle, sight my scope and get a bead on the truck when it drives down to get a follow through on it and will fire an APDS round through the window. Doing my best NOT to hit someone"

«Plot» Criticalfault says, " Also going to follow Fan to make sure the window is broken before the truck passes his hiding spot. Follow as in watch…not bodily move >:)""

«Plot» Kassandra says, "Alright. Give me some Small Unit Tactics or another appropriate skill to set up your positions, and a Stealth roll to make sure you can all get some cover and stay out of sight."

«Plot» Razorpoint is accross from Fandango. Please don't hit me when you shoot the line, lol. Directly across the way from where your setting up Fandango."

Criticalfault climbs up a broken fire escape to find himself a perfect nest upon the roof of a building. He lays down and sets up his rifle pointing it down range toward where the vehicle is going to arrive from. He sets his scanner up and links it into his Poc-sec to monitor it after making some adjustments to zero in on the signal that he assumes the truck will be broadcasting.

Fandango finds himself a little pile of rubble to hide behind. It gives him a decent view of the road, but keeps him from being too obvious from anything on the broken down pathway that makes up the road. He checks his pistols- ExEx rounds in each of them, then he checks he's got line in his grapple gun. Finally, he places a grenade on the ground right next to him- marked with a green band and labeled Neurostun X. Over the road, Razorpoint has found himself a similar little hiding spot. Now it's just the waiting fame.

«OOC» Fandango has, for the record, R4 encryption.
Commlink-Fandango> Fandango says, "I'm in position"
Commlink-Fault> Criticalfault says, "In position"
Commlink-Razorpoint> Razorpoint says, "In position"

The sun will have climbed high in the sky by the time the scanner locks down a signal that you believe might be your foes.

"…«Static» .. "Right, well, fuck them I say. Listen, you tell Manny that I told his Mom that she was the best, scan?" General Laughter, "Ok, right, leaving the Rez now. Slash, Burn, cut on up ahead and clear the path and we'll be coming behind you. Hope the tire holds."

Down the road perhaps a mile or so off, Rez side, a pair of Harleys roar into sight.

Commlink-Fault> Criticalfault says, "Two guys on the Harley's are their frontal guards. Slash and Burn, those names sound familiar. Otherwise something wrong with one of their tires. All I got for now. I'll fire once i have a good shot on the window."

Razorpoint shifts faintly behind his large rock. And decides to hold silent , nothing worth saying. Deeeper more serious blue eyes scanning both the bikes and there respective riders.

«OOC» Fandango says, "Can I guess at their speed?"
«OOC» Fandango has a rangefinder, if it helps.
«OOC» Kassandra says, "They have slowed once they leave the better road of the Rez, probably no more than 30 KPH/48 KPH"
«OOC» Kassandra says, "much less than that in areas they are negotiating the wreckage"

«OOC» Fandango says, "I'd like to ready an action to fire my grapple across the road when the bikes are a few seconds away. Other than that, just staying hidden."
«OOC» Kassandra says, "Acknowledged."

«OOC» Criticalfault says, "Taking actions to aim at the truck's window since i have to make a called shot. Anything i can do to help me :)"

Fandango lays his pistols carefully on the ground next to the grenade, and then he takes out his grapple, careful to be very slow and careful and avoid being seen. Laying flat against his cover, he peeks over just a touch, and aims his crossbow at the remains of a building over the road.

«OOC» Razorpoint says, "SGL 2 will be aimming for a tire, if the Neuro stun miss. Otherwise, I will be rushing the gang memeber when they come off the bikes ?"

The pair of bikers make their slow way into the Warzone, and take their time picking a path through the rubble. They are very observant, you can tell, by the way they are looking around for mines and ambush locations and things out of the ordinary.

Perhaps a quarter mile behind them a van will be following, the sun washing the colours dull on the vehicle. A bloodied and battered cow catcher ram takes up a a large portion of the front of the vehicle, and it is traveling slowly as it waits for the outriders to make a path for it. Behind, a single loan bike does lazy donuts as it waits for the van to move along.

«OOC» Razorpoint says, "So I will rush when they fall , unless the Neurostun misses"

Commlink-Razorpoint> Razorpoint says, "we should let these init two pass, truck is far behide"
Commlink-Fandango> Fandango says, "Hrm. Good point. Stay hidden for now."

«Plot» Kassandra says, "Perception tests, visual. +roll Intelligence and note any visual modifications you may have."

The party, set in their ambush, will catch a faint flash of sunlight on metal a good hundred yards ahead of the bikers. You may have put it off as a trick of the light until it happened again. Fandango and Fault's magnification allows them to pick out what the problem is: two men dressed in badly made camouflage suits have their own ambush set up ahead of yours and were moving around!

One of the bikers, the one with the spear/lance, calls to the other one and points in the general direction of the flash of light as well.

OVER THEIR COMMS: "Hey, hold up, I saw something moving!"

Commlink-Fault> Criticalfault says, "Two hostiles, 12 0'clock, camo suits ambushing our truck. Bikers saw them. Lets see what happens when they find them, we might be able to let them do our dirty work."

Commlink-Razorpoint> Razorpoint says, "Drek , there is an ambush , ahead of us ? I'll get ready to move if needed."

Commlink-Fandango> Fandango says, "Let the bikers engage them. We'll take the van while they shoot it out."

Commlink-Fault> Criticalfault says, "10-4"

Razorpoint is just watching carefully. If the other group starts succeeding then it will be time to move over.

Commlink-Razorpoint> Razorpoint says, "copy"

The two spoilers rise up from their hidden position and the two with vision magnification can immediately tell why you didn't notice them before; they have a trap door that they can open and close, possibly leading into tunnels or at least a foxhole. They will scream victoriously and start firing on the bikers.

Commlink-Fault> Criticalfault says, "Wow, they must be locals."

«Auto-Judge[]» Kassandra (#9777) rolls 2 for "Combat Test.":

Fandango, meanwhile, keeps an eye ont he van to make sure it doesn't change direction.

The van keeps trundling along, picking its way through the parts of the road that aren't full of broken rocks, spike strips, dead bodies, mangled cars, and worse.

Commlink-Razorpoint> Razorpoint says, "Can't let em actually damage the truck tho, should we engage now ?"

Commlink-Fandango> Fandango says, "Wait till it gets within about 40 meters."

Commlink-Razorpoint> Razorpoint says, "deal was truck needs to be drivable"

Fandango also puts his grapple back away since the bikes are taken by the other gang, and grabs his pistols. Stuffing one in a holster, he holds the other in his offhand, picking up the grenade.

Success! The two camoed men fire off their rifles and succeed in downing the man with the spear/lance, blowing him off his bike and onto the cruel ground below. The other biker quickly draws his SMG from the bike holster and sprays the area, although at the range between them he does little more than kick up dirt.

The two camoed men start scurrying forward, using the terrain as cover as they stagger fire at the lone biker.

Commlink-Fault> Criticalfault says, "Stun gren could knock them all down anyway. Hope this works to our advantage"

«OOC» Criticalfault says, "Changing my aim to one of the camo'ed men"

Razorpoint simply turns slightly as the bullets kick up dust.

«Auto-Judge[]» Kassandra (#9777) rolls 2 for "Combat Test":

The machinegun-wielding biker holds down a steady stream of fire that chews up the ground near one of the rifle-toting men. By some miracle he catches the man across both legs and downs him in a stream of dirt and blood, the screams horrible. The other man spits a stream of profanity as he fires and misses, the van drawing closer.

Commlink-Fault> Criticalfault says, "I can take a shot at the biker…hold or fire?"
Commlink-Razorpoint> Razorpoint says, "van is moving forward, hold"
Commlink-Fault> Criticalfault says, "10-4. Going to original plan."

«OOC» Fandango says, "I'll give the word when it's 40m away"
Commlink-Fault> Criticalfault says, "10-4"

«Auto-Judge[]» Kassandra (#9777) rolls 2 for "Combat Test":

The van draws ever closer to the point of conflict, the rear guard biker zooming around in front of the larger vehicle to reinforce his partner. The combined chatter of Ingram SMG fire is simply too much for the lone rifleman to resist. He falls screaming, blood spray flung from his shoulder as his light body armor is chewed up. He falls like a rag doll, cursing and laying there in an ever growing puddle of his own blood, his rifle some two meters away.

«Plot» Razorpoint says, "Assume the Neurostun will be inside the van. As soon as the canister is inside , I will begin to close the distance and try to deal with any mop up."

«OOC» Razorpoint says, "Current armor Rating is Four Ballistic and Two impact."

Once the rifleman is down, the van will slow to a stop some fifty to sixty meters away while the bikers put two to five rounds into each downed man and then check on their compatriot.

Commlink-Razorpoint> Razorpoint says, "we should go active while truck has stop, yes ?"
Commlink-Fandango> Fandango says, "Agreed"

Commlink-Razorpoint> Razorpoint says, "what is the hold up ?"
Commlink-Fandango> Fandango says, "Go"
Commlink-Fault> Criticalfault says, "They are checkin on their man"

«Plot» Criticalfault says, " Alright, I'm gonna fire at the Van's window as per the plan. Aimed while it was stopped and all of that goodness"
«OOC» Fandango says, "As soon as critical fires, I'm going to start running towards the van."

1 5 7 8 10 16 = 5 Successes
«OOC» Fandango says, "effective quickness of 14"

Criticalfault takes a few deep breathes and then slows his breathing for the important shot. He waits until he can hear his heart beat in his ears and then fires between beats. After he sees the bullet hit its mark on the window he breathes out relieved and then lines up a quick shot on the biker which goes wide. He curses under his breath and tries to slow down for his next shot.

Fandango bursts from his hiding place and then takes off at a run towards the van. He pulls the pin on his grenade, and pitches his arm back ready to throw just as soon as he gets within range.

«Plot» Kassandra says, "Actions to date: Fault fires twice. Fandango and Razorpoint use their actions to run."

The Van's window is broken via some firepower.
Brown hair watchful blue eyes the Elf thinks, 'just fragging great, just great! We had better get paid for this! I really need a new life, fragging warzone ! Insane ! … Here I am tip-tip toe. No more like cover to cover, sprinting.

«Plot» Razorpoint says, "Shoot the ganger on the biker who is futherest from Fandango."

Razorpoint thinks there will be Nurostun. He continues forward. The shot erupts form his heavey pistol missing his mark. Slows considerabley, not to get caught within any blast radius.

On 13, the guy in the back of the van kicks the doors open and tumbles out, rolling across the ground and scrambling several meters away. The back door swings lazily back towards the catch but doesn't connect.

Commlink-Fandango> Fandango says, "grenade out!"

Criticalfault lines up a shot on the ganger still on his bike. This time he takes his time. He slowly squeezes the trigger after sighting.

On 9, the driver and passenger in the van both scramble for the grenade that has clinked off the dashboard and fallen into the back. They madly unstrap themselves and try to get to the device before it goes off.

Biker 1 bleeds and does nothing.

In 7, Biker 2 will roll for cover.

«Plot» Kassandra says, "Target is at Moderate Wound. Razor?"

Fandango drops onto one knee and sweeps the two pistols around to one of those fleeing the explosion, barely wincing as the vestiges of the shock wave rock over him. He then pulls both triggers at once, slamming into one of the fleeing gangers withe explosive rounds, blowing him a couple of brand new orifices. He then sweeps to the next target, landing one solid hit and blowing a chunk out of his thigh, the other missing entirely and hitting the road.

Razorpoint plants swifts, its streets time, chummers. Rapidly his eyes moving searching out any threats. Now providing cover fire so the runners can get in the truck!

Commlink-Fault> Criticalfault says, "I can cover your escape. I'll meet back up with you."

«Plot» Kassandra says, "END OF ROUND"

The remaining gunman, already shot by Fandango, tosses his Ingram to the side, "Man, I give up! Take the thing, just take it!" He keeps his hands clear and stays low, hoping not to get shot.

Commlink-Fandango> Fandango says, "Can do."

«Plot» Razorpoint says, " Will move when Fandango is inside. I will seal the back shut. If needed pistol fire from the windows."

«Plot» Criticalfault says, "Covering the van's escape now."

Razorpoint steps toward and then enters said van. Climbing around and swiftly seals the back shut. He begins to step toward his seat.

Commlink-Fault> Criticalfault says, "I'm staying until you get that pile clear of my LOS, then i'm moving back to the meeting point. Stay safe chums."

Fandango nods his head at the guy then, and he picks up the SMG- as well as any guns his now dead friend might have been carrying, and then climbs into the van- he checks to see if the controls will still work.

Commlink-Razorpoint> Razorpoint says, "Trust me, we just became a target, goes without saying we really need to be clear of these insane gangers in da Warzone !"

Like buzzards, any blood or fighting in the Warzone draws attention, especially in the daytime. For the moment they stay clear, but you know in your bones it won't be long before those that prey on the weak and distracted close in.

The van is standard drive, with no indication that it is rigger or even datajack controllable. The goods inside are slightly knocked around due to the concussion blast, but nothing seems too badly beaten up.

Commlink-Razorpoint> Razorpoint says, "Good got bumpped around but should be null sweat as to that part of our payment"

Since Fandango didn't off the ganger, he'll start slowly creeping backwards, hoping to get out of sight and out of mind. He too knows the price one pays for staying too long around here.

Razorpoint is actually afaird , come on, chumms we got buzz out!

Fandango climbs in and sits down right on the glass, trusting his armored clothing and underlay to prevent him from getting cut up. "let's get the frak out of here." he suggests to the others as he wipes some glass off the dash to try and make sense of the mangled displays.

«Plot» Razorpoint is most certainly keeping watch til we reach Johnson.

Criticalfault takes his time to reload the rifle. Stuffing spent carriages into his pockets making sure to count each one. He then scopes down range again, watching the van and for anyone else wearing camo in wait.

The tension is palpable as you turn the vehicle around and head back towards the Rez. The dash? A ruin, and there is blood and these two guys with blood leaking out of their ears in the vehicle as well. The goods for Silk are in the back, a little worse for wear but still in good shape. With Fault covering your escape, you can make your way safely out of the Warzone itself and into the relative safety of the rest of the Warrens.

Once the van is moving, Fandango opens the driver side door and shoves the collapsed form of the previous occupant out, and indicates to whoever in the passenger side to do the same.

Razorpoint follows suit and chats into his shoulder as they pick up the fellow runner with the rifle. "Now , I would guess if there was to be any ambush , it happen outside the warzone cleaner that way."

Criticalfault packs up his sniper's nest and gets the hell out of there. Taking it safe back to the Rez. "God this money better be worth this hell hole.."

Stray rounds, likely part of another ambush or some sort of disagreement, with bounce off the lightly armored van, their energy depleted by the distance they have traveled and the light calibre, causing only cosmetic damage at best.

CriticalFault can feel the eyes following him out of the Warzone as scavengers move in to pick up the three downed bikes, the clothing from the bodies, and just perhaps, some meat from the downed men as well. And the wounded ganger? He may even make it back alive.

Fandango finally arrives back where he started, a few dings and tight corners later. He reverses the truck into the parking lot- the little wide load reversing sound beeps twice before sort of tapering off before shutting up entirely. He finally gets it into position, engages the parking break, and then shuts off the engine. "Job well done, I'd say."
