Sometimes You Fail

GM: Caine

Synopsis: An attempt to rob some smugglers fails.
Date: June 13, 2074


Plot Info: As a GM I am very freeform. If you suddenly decide to go attack a Lone Star precienct house, go for it. Expect to die, but your free to go for it. I don't ask for consent at the start of the plot, but if during the plot, your choices lead you into a path I think might cause your death, then I'll ask for consent. Thats basicly a good time to pause, and consider carefully your choices.

Word travels that a few extra bodies are needed for a job, a little firepower, and the ability to lift a moderate amount of loot quickly. The meet is to be in the back room of the Cool Cat club. Just use the password cripple creek at the door.

Indra has been here -all- of once as of late, so she doesn't really have the normal meet half the bar on the way over as a personal friend deal. To the back door with a backpack with her toys in it, password given!

Seraphim shows up with a small rucksack over her shoulder and a dour expression on her features. She knocks at the door a few times gently. "Cripple creek." It's stated in a slight monotone, though she doesn't quite sound bored. Sera breathes a soft sigh as she looks around at the room, but then shrugs faintly and steps through. It's habit, checking your surroundings before moving on.

Caine is your jay for the evening, sitting in the back of the cool cat. He sits in his hoverchair at the end of the table, petting a white persian cat on his lap, heck, apparently he is minorly disguised, looking like an older human version of his elf self, with a scar over one eye. He nods as everyone settles down, "Afternoon. An associate of mine has asked me to aquire some things for them, and through a bit of finesse I have located what he asked for and have a plan to take care of it. A shipment is going to be moving. We are to take that shipment by force. Does anyone have any issues with this?"

Bigman steps in as Caine speaks "Not at all…" he grins "Pardon for my unprofessionalism…." he raises a brow quesitoning his own wording on it. He slides into a seat. "Is the goods the pay or is their an exchange of script?"

Indra will sort of ease her self into a spot, curling up a bit really, like a lazy feline. "Nope! I bet it's a buncha gangers who stole it from another buncha gangers!" Ah, Indra is so Naive.
"Or just that someone smells a big payday. No problems here." Sera lifts a hand. She shrugs her shoulder once, adjustign her bag as she does so. She is watching Caine intently, tilting her head to the left slightly as she does so. Bigman gets a nod of approval as his question comes to light. No words, then. Just anticipation.

Caine chuckles "Actually its going to be cash. I already have a buyer waiting for what we will be aquiring. So, down to a few more details. There is a small smugglers tunnel going from Aztlan to the CAS. Cartel runs it, and is going to be moving a shipment of various ammo types. I've managed to question an invididual and found out when and where this transport is taking place. Once they exit the tunnel on the CAS side, we hit them hard and fast, take everything and run."

Bigman grins "Sounds like it can be a blast…" he smirks "Any conflict of interest with the Cartel? I imagine you've already dug into certain aspects that may come back to bite us in the ass."
Indra actually doesn't know who, or what this Cartel is. "How do we know who not to shoot?" That is what is important to her. She doesn't want to shoot the wrong people. Gangers or not.
"Cartel? Even fewer problems with that one," Sera responds quietly, tilting her head as she does so. "How much stuff are we looking at here? Are we needing a truck…?" Down to talking shop, it appears. "And do we care how many of them live?"

Caine shakes his head, "No, we are working under the authorization of….special people. So the fallback goes to them, this is sort of a revenge situation for another incident." He turns to look at Indra, "Anyone carrying a weapon, should be shot." He then looks to Sera and shakes his head, "No, no concerns at all."

Bigman says "Shoot anyone who shoots at you…in fact you should take it as a complete disrespect if someone tries to put a bullet in you…" he mentions to Indra with a chuckle, then turns to Caine "Any chance to meet these special people? Sometimes who you know is better then the the payout."

Caine grins "You already know them. Just leave it at that."

Indra blinks her eyes a few times, she already knows them? That's some what concerning! "We should focus on perhaps, how much we are being paid." This is more her forte.

Caine was looking just at Bigman with that remark.

Caine says, "As for the payment, its worth about fifteen. For an ambush, I think thats decient."

"Seems straightforward enough," Sera responds quietly, tilting her head slightly as she does so. She draws a deep breath after a moment before nodding just once. "If you get shot a few times I'll even patch you up. Call it a favour. When do we plan to do the hit?"

Caine smiles "The shipment is coming through at four am tommorow morning. As for injuries, I can help with magical healing, in fact, I'm coming along. Your going to be loading my pickup with the supplies."

Bigman hmms and leans back in his chair "Any information on the tunnel itself? Only one way in and one way out? Do we know how big it is, can a troll fit or a small vehicle? Do you know where in the CAS the exit is?

Caine looks to Bigman "I know where its coming out, and its small, they have some tracks in there to run a cart along to move heavy supplies. Thats about it, a troll could squeeze in, but I'd rather not fight in the tunnel. My suggestion is to wait until they start loading thier vehicle, and ambush them them. Its a small mechanics garage, the tunnel leads to those little pits under the car lifts."

Indra was already planning on ways to not be shot, but the offer of magic healing has her both..happy..and less then happy. Despite being an Elf, she just doesn't like magic, not trustable.
"Ambushes are perfect. I'll hang around out of sight until the festivities start." Sera just nods onc e at this then takes a slow shrug of her shoulders. "Mmm. Sounds like we have a good evening coming along. Fancy that."
Bigman says "Is there any collateral damage that could happen? Like this place in the middle of a business park?"

Caine says, "It's in an older neighborhood, apartment complexes mostly, a few gas stations, a stuffer shack. I'm thinking the best help I can give is to make you all silent, as opposed to invisible.""

«Plot» Indrakshi says, "Bringing my Armor, my Ared Preds and holsters, whip, and my Tactical Comm….and I do have a Doc Wagon (Gold) Contract. Which I hope I do not need."
«Plot» Bigman says, "I'm going to have my elementals ready to be summoned, and my Allied Spirit. Bring my TacCom, Electronic Sunglasses, Electronics Kit, WNG, and Jammer."

Fast Forward: Its about two am, Caine has parked his pickup a few blocks away from the target, and is waiting to meet everyone. His ally spirit is watching over the target building, letting him know if anything unusual is going on.

Indra had legged it in, stopping in some cheap place to change her clothing before walking on, she looks like some wannabe thug in her urban camo gear, but it hides the silenced pistols she has, so there is that. She just hoped some one had a good way -out- of the area after they started shooting.
The ruthenium cloak is out, though not currently active. Sera has her monosword with her though covered with her cloak- the blade is of a Chinese design and she wears it well. There's a thoughtful frown on the silver haired elf's features as she approaches the rendezvous, her head tilted slightly. She glances around as if to see where the others might be.
Parking his bike at a distance from the meeting spot Biggie walks up to the truck and Caine sitting inside, he doesn't try to get in, just lightly taps on the window. He slips a TacCom into his ear, then disappears as he activates the magical tattoo on him. Da Vinci sits on Biggies shoulder in Astral Space, not taking on a physical form.

Caine looks over the others as they arrive. "Alright, I'll be in the pickup here, but I'm going to make you three silent. Your gunfire won't make any noise, but, you won't be able to talk to each other if you don't have a transducer, so that is a problem. I could make you all invisible, safer, but your going to draw attention. Then again if they start shooting you, well thats noise too."

"Silent would be perfect. I'll handle the invisible part myself." Sera just nods at this, offering Caine a beatific smile. A slow breath is drawn after ward. "Well, better not being noticed than needing to call for help. Thanks." She closes her eyes for a second, perhaps listening for a response.
Indra pats her sides where she has her pistols holstered. "Don't worry! I got silenced pistols." She says, confident.

Caine nods "I can give you each one spell, your choice then. You want to be invisible or silent, let me know. Any more than that, and I'll likely make myself a vegetable."

Seraphim opens her violet eyes then, turning them on Caine. She taps her glasses and they daken slightly as she nods. Then there's a finger placesd to her lips. Silence, clearly. Just as she had indicated. The cloak is being put on now. She keeps the sword beneath it, near to her chest.

Bigman is already sitting invisible "I'm going to stay invis with my tat…I'll rather be able to call out if needs be." He's going through a routine to prep his equipment.
Indra watches Seraphim for a moment, her and her crazy cloak of invisibility. "Prefer to just be invisible my self, if things get bad, talking to some one might be important."

Caine begins to work, first calling quietly to the spirit of the city, in case they need it. Then he begins casting on Sera and Indra.

And there it goes, Indra vanishes from sight, and Sera is unable to make a sound now, including anything on her.

The city noises are a minimum at this hour. Caine gestures up the road, "Two blocks up the road, you'll find the mechanics station, its got three bay doors. Right now the van is inside on the farthest east door. The middle bay has the tunnel. Your likely going to need to break in just as they start loading the van, and take them down fast. Then I'll bring up the pickup, you can load me up, and we can get out of here."

A hand appears briefly. Sera is signalling acknowledgment. Then she is going down the road just as Caine indicated, moving at a- fairly mild pace. Her cloak doesn't allow for running, but she can manage a decently paced walk. The steps are silent, her movements muted not only by the cloak by by the way Sera sticks close to structures and objects, always bent slightly to minimize her profile. No point in being stealthy if one is seen anyway.
Indra didn't like Sera being off comms, but not much they can do there, can she even hear them? She her self is going to use her little ear bud unit to hear and her throat mic if she needs to talk, thats how it goes with these fancy military units! "So how do we play this? Do we all hide inside..or wait till they are working, then some one zips the door open and we start unloading from cover?"

There is a little traffic now and then, a car passing by, someone out drinking late, whatever reason that has them around at three am. You were told the loading would be at four, so you have an hour to scout and prepare until your ready.

As you near, you catch them. Two men, standing outside in the shadows of the edge of the building. They aren't moving, but apparently are awake and alert. They even have cover basicly, it would be hard to get to them without moving around some old debris that likely was piled up on purpose, its basicly a gun nest.

The two guards move, looking around, one of them even grabbing some night vision goggles to look around. They haven't spotted you yet, but they are alert.

Seraphim has her sword out, the slender jian held beneath the cloak to keep it discrete as she shifts through the darkness. She moves toward the building and the gun nest, looking for a way to move through the debris. While what she steps on doesn't make noise if anything slips or collides it will be heard. So care is taken as she moves. violet eyes trained on the guards.

Biggie sees Sera creep along the the wall, and going to one of the guards. He channels his mana throw him and throws a stunbolt right to the other guard. Hitting him fast and hard, the guard drops to the ground hard.

Sera's strike comes swiftly. She simply grips one man delicately by the neck, pulls him back- and a sword appears from his neck, angled upward through his spine and heart. She draws it free cleanly as he falls to the ground. Then she cleans it quickly on his clothes and it disappears beneath the cloak once more. That must amount to a signal in her part of the world.
Indra was just about to come up from her cover with her Preds hammering out silent shots..when one man is fairly well dispatched and the other seems to crumple? Good time to move forward and get close to the building! Which she does! Guns out now though.

The two guards go down, one to magic, the other to a blade. Its quiet apparently, the bodies lying there by a doorway into the office area of the mechanic business. What now?

Sera lifts her hand from beneath her cloak briefly, even though they no doubt know where she is. The sword is still being held out and ready as she moves back out of sight beneath her cloak. The door is being checked now, to see if it is locked. It will make no noise when she rattles it, after all.

Indra is invisible..and Sera can't hear, so this is a problem, a big problem, she'll wait to hear if any one tries to open the door.

The men are hispanic, wearing armored vests. They each had a SMG, a cheap one though, not a lot of money invested in them beyond the ware. Perhaps they were supposed to look low rent.

As the door opens, you hear very little noise. Its dark inside, the lights seem to all be off. Either they are running late, or something is wrong. They should be about to load the van. You can see through a door with a window, the bays, and there is indeed a white van parked at the end.

There was a small scuffing noise from the garage, and perhaps some whispering. Someones in there, but they are definatly hiding from you behind, whatever might be handy. You spot a foot under a rolling tool box.

Frowning faintly Sera moves forward into the room, her sword still in hand. She's cautious, slightly on edge without being actively worried. Easy steps sound silently as she moves. A foot beneath a toolbox? She moves to the left slightly rather than approaching it head long. The van is noted, catalogued for later.

A voice echos in the room. "Puta! We know your there, you got that ruth shit! Help is on the way, better back off fuckers!" This from the guy behind the toolbox.

Indra hears the voice as she moves to flank, elven eyes and all, make a joke, but she's invisible..and they don't seem to know she's there. Is there more then one person in this room as she moves to get a bead on the guy?

You see him, he has an assault rifle, and is not even trying to stick his head out from behind the thing. He is speaking very quietly, likely into a comm unit.

To (Seraphim, Frostlog), Caine pages: You hear a faint noise, voices, static, coming from the dead guy, likely someone trying to rouse him on the comm.
Sera lowers her cloak for now, then points to the man. She bends down then, reaching out to shift his comm so that she can lift it. Of course, now it is silent. So once it is visible she sets it back down. Carefully. Then she is moving toward the bay windows and the van, bringing her cloak back into place. Sera looks around as she does.

There is faint rumble, then an echoing boom from the middle bay floor. Dust rises up from the undercarriage area. A soft rumbling is heard as the tunnel is collapsed with detonations…..there is no ammo here.

Indra was going to check the van, since she's actually invisible..poor guy probably didn't have a chance to realize he got ambushed…and then some thing explodes. She bets the van is empty!

The van is indeed empty, but its unlocked and the keys are in it.

After word gets to Caine, he asks that you take the Van, he can sell it to someone to pay you all off if you want. The van is taken, along with some expensive toolkits and you drive off into the night. The ammo wasn't taken, but the cartel did lose a smuggling point, so thats enough for Caines employeer to be….somewhat…satisifed.
