First Session

Snow was drifting in the wind, and you all were glad to sit the warm insides of Cannonballs van, being her physical support for the duration of this little mission, while Cannon was the rigger escort for the little convoi of trucks that just was carwling along a narrow rockies passage. A mad thing one might think considering most passes were snowed up. But as J had explained, no cop or border guards here looking for someone trying this. The first car was equipped with a strong snow blower, literally biting it's way through the wafted up snow. At times there was barely enough space for the trucks and van to pass through the snow. The three of you building the rear gard, as J had declared that the trail left would be most likely to cause any unwelcome attention. The pay offered by J had been 30K, negotiated up to 33K by Kardis, in an impressive duel of minds, due to the environmental hazards and potential troubles with some silly border partrols. So far the trip had been quite eventless, if far from boring due to the treacherous terrain up here in the Rockies.

Vera frowns. "I need to get some arctic camo," the still very much beginning gun-bunny laments quietly, turning to consider her work made with a smile. She'd been very impressed at the meet…Vera had actually met only one other person who could be considered even a match for her performance at the meet; all Vera ended up having to do was signal interest in repeat business, and her willingness to offer a nice five thousand nuyen discount for her services in exchange for that. With her new long-arms still in the shop, and the long range stuff taken up by Cannonball, Vera is checking her pair of pistols one last time, the antique FNs snugly fitted under her jacket now as she finishes up. "So…if we get into trouble, I'm going to operate around the vehicle," she suggests. "Help make sure that nobody sneaks up or flanks us. I'm at my best…up close."

Kardis sits quietly in her seat. As she leans forward and rests on her cane the Russian woman's face doesn't seem to show concern but more of a anamosity towards the choice made, "… could have moved this on my own vith none of this hastle…" from the meeting you would have been witness to her sharp tone and biting words towards the J, probably openly insulting him/her several times durring the negotiation untill she got what she was after.

Vera seems to shrug at Kardis. She had indeed been impressed with the Russian woman's acumen, but…she adopts a more outwardly friendly persona. Usually. Now, though, her expression is a little harder, as she's expecting trouble, and she's wearing her street gear. She looks…not visibly dangerous, once her pistols are snugly secure. "So where did you learn -that- particular art of the deal?" she asks, glancing up towards Cannonball. "Hey, Cannon," she asks. "Mind running down your blind spots, if any, on this vehicle, so I can know where to focus my attention if they get close?" she offers.

Cannonball's body for now is motionless, jacked in she controls the van with Expert skill. So far not even touching any snowdrift if she didn't want to. Still the main enemy here is the elements as is soon proven. A loud grumble heard, hen small avalanche covering the trucks before the van. Driving slow, breaking in time is no problem for the experienced rigger, but the trucks in front are for now stuck in the snow. There might even be damage to the freight or other drivers. Cannon radios in to inform the front of the convoy, in case they missed the problem, then she has a look at the problem. Getting into captain chairs mode, she looks around, "Any ideas how we can fix this quickly?", she asks her teammates.

Kardis grins, "If you butter the truth people vill only hear the good things. Vhen you have put them in their place and they know they vill get novhere vithout you, then you have the upper hand to—-" she stops as the vehicle lurches to a stop, "… this is great… vut are ve carying again?" she asks as he glances over to the truck that got covered.

Vera suddenly puts her hand to her temple, a throbbing headache suddenly knifing through her, surprisingly. "Jazz withdrawal?" she considers for a moment. "No, I did all right on addiction ratings. Nasty." She shakes her head, and then smiles back to Kardis. "Indeed. Well, it was certainly effective. I suppose I have an entirely different style…for me, persuasion is about convincing the other person that what you want is actually to their advantage, and then I like to let their greed do the work for them," she says, a little concerned that things have stopped. "Seems like…like some trucks have been buried, or something."

Kardis's eyes dart around a few times as she takes in several things at once, "… Da… up there…" she motions with the end of the cane towards a few figures up on the hill, "Ve have company…" he tone rather flat, as if she was talking about the weather.

Cannonball sending her vehicles sensors up to that place pointed to by Kardis. "Hmmmm… Strange. Humanoid, but by far too small for humans, seems like a kind of apelike critter. I'd have to check on trix to know what these things are. Not large. They look quite harmless. What do you two think?", she asks.

Vera nods. "All right. I'm going to move around and try to get close to them, without being spotted on the way. Ideally, Cannon could pin them down with the gun if necessary, and we'd be able to clear them out at close range." She draws her old weapons, now, feeling the perfect grips fit into her hand, and gives a tight, concerned little smile. "Hmm." She frowns. "I'm not sure I'd consider anything encountering us in this sort of context harmless."

Cannonball frowns, "With this avalanche tendency I'm very wary to use my Machine gun… Other than real emergencies. No need to get burried in more snow, yes? I'd say you check them out and I'll try to help to get this last truck out of the snow. If they are dangerous, you can notify me on standard frequency. I'll listen in on it as I work."

"They are at 500 meters from here…", says the rigger.
"What's the signature look like on them?" Vera asks up forward.

Kardis looks back and forth a few times as she eyes the display and then over towards the forms in the distance, "… right…" With an extended hand she points towards one of the critters and coils her finger before springing it towards one of them as if flicking at them.

Cannon was busy helping the others of the convoi to work out that last truck. For once she found a use for her winch as she pulled off large ice floats that had gotten stuck on top of that truck.

Vera widens her eyes as a full half kilometer away, the stunbolt strikes the thing. "My…it doesn't matter what the distance is for that?" she asks. "That's incredible."

The pointed at being slouches, but keeps standing. It's looking around and screeching as if it had been hit by something, you can see the beasties drag up crude levels and work on the snow around them as they hear that cry.

Noting that reaction the elf rigger, grumbles, "Now we know at least where that avalanche came from… You two make sure they don't manage to do that again. I'll help to get the trucks free."

"They're too far away. Half a kilometer, in this heavy snow? That's five minutes at least. No way I can get in range. Might be time to use that MG, if Kardis can't take them from here."

Cannonball frowns, "If I shoot, then I loosen one of those snowslabs up there for sure and that's much more snow than those critters can loosen…", she says to Vera distractedly, working to pull that truck out. Already managing to dragg it a few centimeters out of that snow with her van.

Kardis shifts her attention to a different critter. This time she holds out her hand as if she was manipulating a puppet. With one hand she makes a turning motion as off in the distance the small humanoid stops digging and spins to face one of the others. With the Russian's other hand she moves in a swinging motion as the critter takes a swing at one of the others.

The apes seem surprised at that sudden attack from a mate, they watch the strange behaviour stunned for a little while then they club down that stricken fellow beast. The commotion this causes takes quite a few minutes.

Kardis grins as the first swing from her puppet connects and causes the rest of the little midgets to pile on to the one she's controling, "… that vill keep them busy for a bit."

Vera hangs right next to Kardis, watching in awe as the mage solves the problems from 500 meters away. "How do you…it's like they're little puppets." She nods. "It seems like you've got things covered in here. I'm going to go outside to make sure Cannon doesn't get jumped while she's working."

Cannon meanwhile keeps herself busy with removing snow from the stuck truck and fixing the winch on the rear of the vehicle to help it getting dragged out.

While all that happens, you can hear the rest of the convoy work to free their caught fellows and the other trucks, some use shovels, some guard the convoi. One drags out a silenced gun, maybe taken for just such a thing as those critters up there. As the beasties quarrel, you can see the flare of the gun go several times. Only three critters (not counting the ensorcelled) are fleeing soon after that.

The convoy leader (the one who had that gun) then moves over to you, "Good work. I'd nearly missed those beasties.", he says to Cannon and Vera as the work outside. Giving a nod to Kardis inside the van. It takes a few hours to free all of the trucks but the action is not proving too much of a problem (technically) after those critters are no danger anymore. However you have to make a night quarters up there on that pass as it gets dark right after the trucks are free and the men need rest after the strenuous work.

Kardis responds with a bit of a dry laugh as she watches the other get out into the snow and cold while she remains in the warm vehicle, "Da… do the grunt vork…" as she taunts the people doing the hard work she starts to make a walking motion with her fingers; causing the last critter to start walking down the hill towards the convoy with its hands up in the air.

Vera grins, nodding. She screws her own silencers on the end of her two pistols - the much less extensive report of the weapon is now quite silent. "All right. I think here's where we're in heavy danger. If I were to attack this convoy, I'd sneak in. So…I'm going to stay on watch overnight, keep my eyes peeled. Nothing wrong with staying up for a nice 24," she says, after rejoining the much more comfy interior of Cannon's van.

Cannonball shrugs, to Kardis sneering at the labour done to free the trucks, "Well, if we did't free them, we'd be stuck here, yes?", she says to the mage. Her helping the others, she nods to Vera, "Sounds like an idea. I'll take a night of rest, then. Was quite a lot of work to get here. I'm feeling a bit tired."

Kardis remains in the vehicle while everyone else does whatever they want to do to keep the place safe. After stunbolting the ape a few times to knock it out she ties it up and putes it in the back of the van and makeing sure it doesn't have a chance to move around. Every now and then through the night she'll take a quick astral patrol of the place; just to make sure, while keeping her body in the nice warm van.

Vera nods. "Yes." She smiles at Cannonball. "Get a good night's sleep. You're here to do the real work, and I'm just here to leech money and hope nobody comes into range close enough to threaten us," she says, with a grin.

The night gets biting cold and quite dark. Only the lights of passing search lights from the van and trucks make the darkness less impenetrable, two small 3 man groups patrolling the darkness at all times. One of those passing your truck as you, being on the lookout for trouble see a shadow move close to them, a roughly humanoid, almost troll sized figure approaching them, barely able to see by it's outlines with the sudden light of your searchlight on it.

Kardis eyes suddenly open from where she was resting in the van as she says something harshly in Russian before looking around and hitting the com button, "Ve have a sasquash of some sort outside the convoy."

Moving as stealthily as she can, Vera quietly pops a hit of Jazz…good to get a step on sasquatch beasts, after all, and pulls her two pistols, the silencers still threaded on them. She's going to see if she can't get the drop on this beastie.

It's impossible to see unless someone else is viewing the astral. But from that space the astral form of Kardis takes up position above the lurking monster. As she recoils a hand a blue flame grows around her hand before she hurls the ball towards the monster.

The first gun splatters the beast, the following shots make grinded meat out of it. Finely grinded meat. The patrol, only getting aware of the threat as the blood splatters away, gets all wide eyed. "Damn!", one mutters as the beast finally gets visible. Well, what is left of it…
Cannonball, ironically, didn't even wake up from all the bangs of that gun. The remainder of the night stay calm, clam and silent, unless you count the howl of the wind. The trucks will be freed of some of the wafted in snow the next morning, then the convoy starts to move again. The snowblower digging the way ahead.

Kardis's astral form materialises from thin air and hovers over the remnants of the critter, "… that vus un-expected…"
Vera doesn't select shot by shot - her training is to bring her two pistols together and up, four PFFPFFPFFPFFs sounding out as the explosive rounds tunnel into the beast and burst inside him, tearing up all sorts of nasty beast critter things. Smoke hisses from the two silencers as Vera stands, quite satisfied with her handiwork, and nods to Kardis. "You can say that again," she whispers. "I'd have hate to have allowed myself within that beast's reach, and he's pretty sharp to have heard me approaching."

Vera's concentration wanes as she starts to experience the misery of the comedown from Jazz, biting her lip as she enters a deep, though temporary depression. She clenches her jaw, her eyes almost glistening with tears during the crash, but her willpower is strong and she grapples with the sensations, trying to prevent it from enervating her.

Second Session

Quick recap. After some problems with some agropelters and Kardis catching one, smugglers where attacked by a bandersnatch. The beast was first blaste half stupid by Kardis and then pulverized by Vera's guns. Now the convoi is finally rid of the avalanche caused by the agropelters and starting up again.

The trucks fired their engines from idle to moveing mode and soon the entire convoy was on it's way again. The Snowblower in front slowly digging it's way towards the freezing Denver. All twenty truck working mostly at normal only one lightly damaged by the snow it had been dug under. The convoy was crawling slowly towards the barely visible aim at the horizon.

Cannonball was as before driving rear protection, jacked in she was giving all attention to sensors and driving, making her quite unresponsive for now.

Vera takes a few moments, after things settle down and she's back into Cannonball's van, giving a wink to the blonde driver as she field-strips her pistols and rapidly cleans them. She seems to take quite considerable care with those weapons. Anyway, her gear nicely nestled back by her ribs, clean and ready for the next use, she continues her gentle scan of the area. Perhaps fantasizing about what to do with that nuyen.

Kardis remains in her nice warm spot in the GMC truck/van, she has yet to physicaly step out into the cold air. Through the night she's probably had to stunbolt her captive a few more time whenever it's woken up but whomever she sells it to probably won't mind the mental brusing. once moveing again she rests against her cane to help keep from swaying at all in her seat.

All three almost at once notice a little drone a little off, seeming working it's way in a seach pattern. Cannon at once frowns and transduces over her radio: « Okay … Looks like someone is looking for us. I cannot believe that drone was just sent this way randomly. All prepare for trouble.»

Kardis hits the com button with her cane, "Jam its transmition." she orders to whoever is listening.

Vera nods, making sure both her knives and her pistols are at the ready. She's ready to hop out of the trunk and try to stealthily work her way around to try and surprise-flank the attackers at close range, should there be an available opportunity.

The convoy leader responds to that, «Negative, not as long as it hasn't spotted us. We'd give our position away prematurely…", he says. "And our drones have to cope with it as well…"

Vera gives a little shrug. She doesn't have anti-vehicular armor, and so it seems that the best thing to do would be to either avoid it, or…" She frowns. "I could try to catch the attention of the drone, draw it and they away from us," she suggests as a possibility.

Cannonball prepares for trouble by popping up her turret and for now aiming it towards the slowly approaching rotodrone.

Kardis scowls a bit as she sits back in her chair and waits for the time being.

It almost looks like the drone is going to miss the convoy, however right as it was about to pass them by, whoever controls the drone seems to notice something and the drone starts to turn towards the convoy.

Before anyone can react the drone sweeps over and lets it's sensors sweep all along the convoy. It seems to be an unarmed drone, but it by now has transmitted the convoy's location for sure. As the first shock is released the convoy leader calls out over the waves, « Go on, stealth is no option anymore. Ahead as fast as we can. Cannon! You and your guys deal with this drone and then make sure we don't get surprised by the real attack force!"

Vera waits by the door of the van as Cannonball brings her deadly heavy machine gun to bear. She gives a tight smile to the other elf as she watches the fire arc toward the drone, thudding a heavy tattoo through her body as she feels the recoil adequately compensated by the suspension of the truck.

Kardis opens her mouth and puts her finger into whatever ear is nearest to the gun to accomidate for the concussion inside the vehicle. "This is vhy I vunted to jam it…"

Cannonball fires her guns and grunts with satisfaction as the drone sags visibly after the hits. It's not gone but the smoke rising from it shows it's not going to live much longer.

Cannonball blasting out some more bullets towards the drone Cannon finally causes a little explosion as the drone finally gives in. "Hope that will take the rigger out. Dumpshock can be pretty bad.", she says.

Vera whistles lowly. "Well, it seems like we'll be probably running into some trouble," she says to Kardis. "We've been smoked. And they'll likely send in some good old fashioned meat enemies." She glances at Cannonball and grins. "Wow, can you drive and fight anything? Planes, trains, and automobiles?"

Cannonball jacked in doesn't get a word, she centers on having a look around.

Kardis shrugs as she unplugs her ear now that the shooting has stoped, "And vut do you expect that children vith sticks vill do against trucks?"

Vera, not knowing the way of riggers, shrugs as she glances at Cannonball, and then she looks back towards Kardis and shrugs. "Some can move rather stealthily, and RPGs are not too expensive. Saw plenty of that happening in Monrovia," she replies.

The day goes by silently, but Cannon will occasionally note that she sees movements at the furthest reach of her sensors, Vera at one time even gets a look at some snow-mobiles equipped with some evil looking guns in their snouts.

Vera has been keeping herself alert…perhaps the effects of the Jazz help, but in any case, she suddenly points at a spot off in the distance. "Movement," she says, forgetting to switch to the comm, before she then touches her throat, subvocalizing.

Commlink-Posh> Vera says, "Movement, far away. Snowmobiles with guns. Look alive."

Kardis looks on the monitor display at where Vera is pointing. As the girl pulls her pistols the Russian scoffs, "You expect to hit that from here?"

Vera glances at Kardis. "Of course not. Did you expect me to wait until they're in range and then attempt some sort of silly gunslinger move?" she replies, with a chuckle. I'm going to begin opening fire at fifty meters."

Commlink-CB> Cannonball grumbles, "Okay, I keep having sensor echoes. I guess they want to get us during the night… For now they play to make us nervous and maybe shoot unneccessarily. No one shoot unless you can see them clearly!"

Commlink-Posh> Vera nods. "Got it," Vera replies. She's pretty deadly with her Brownings, but not if the bikes aren't within range.

Vera continues to try to do her part to scan for the approach of the bikes, slightly distracted by a little itch she is not seeing a lot, though.

Kardis keeps her eyes peels on the outside, looking for a poor mobile to pop out at the wrong time. While she waits she starts to tap her cane against the metal on a walll a like 'ting… ting… ting…' noise is a slow rythem.

Commlink-CB> Cannonball frowns as she tranduces, "Can't get a clear sighting. They keep right of my scopes… Seems the killing of the dron made them wary. The good news is, at my calulation they need to have a refuel point somewhere closeby if they want to hunt us into the night. I'd suggest Kardis and Vera hunt that out. No fuel, no hunters… I have a rough idea from the echo's where it might be. What do you people think?"

Kardis continues to tap her cane. "If ve come to a stop for the night I can search for their station. I vill not do so vhile the trucks are moving."

Cannonball ponders Kardis words, "Ummm, there is no danger to loose your body. We leave a damn visible trail, even on the astral."
"And from what I hear a projecting mage should be far superior in speed to this crawling convoi.", she adds.

Vera nods. "Give me twenty minutes," she says. "I should be ready then. I just had to be extra sure in that fight against the…whatever that thing was," she says, admittedly in a little distress, but hey…she had got the drop and finished off that beast.

Kardis glances around with cold eyes, "You touch me, I vill make sure you die slowly." her tone not having a threatening nature to it despite the words. After a moment of checking over her paracritter to make sure it's still contained well she closes her eyes and projects into the astral to search for the fuel dump.

Cannonball jacked in is definitely not moving taking care to make sure she is still able to protect the convoi. She'd blink to Karids words, but her body is still locked by the restraints of the deck in full cybernetic mode.

Karids senses: Out here the astral is relatively clear of disturbances. It's quite easy to see the snow mobiles from some height, the men on their vehicles glowing as one of the few living things around. You will quickly notice that they seem to circle wide around the convoi, a trio of them guarding a large truck plowing in trail you made for your trucks, barely a few hundred meters out of sensor sight."

With two women 'jacked' in, one into magic and one into the vehicles, the value of Vera is at this moment best displayed, as she's…about as well equipped for a close quarters fight should anyone ambush the van as can be. Due to the vulnerability and the importance of defense, she loads her two pistols with one clip each of her special armor-piercing ammo.

Third Session

Quick recap: After finishing the Bandersnatch, the convoy had moved on. Due to extreme alertness, the group became quickly aware of an nosy scout drone. Still, they could not avoid detection. And thus, after Cannon destroyed the drone, they soon became besieged by much more agile oposition. Mounted on motorsleds a group of raiders where circling the perimeter of the convoy trying to find it's weak spot. Kardis went out to scout out the perimeter on the astral. She found the Mobile base of the oposition, a truck driving by now in the trial left by the convoi.
Note: Due to Kardis comming up later I had to rearrange the plot slightly here, any discrepancies might result from that.

In the stral plane Kardis floats above the transport truck that is the fuel supply to the mobiles that have been harrasing the convoy. With a wicked smile she forms an idea and as such summons one of her elementals. As the swirling wind of the air elemental forms around her she motions for the servent to attack the storm spirit that is guarding the fuel truck; hopefuly buying her enough time to get her plan off.

Kardis watches for a moment as her air elemental goes against the nature spirit. As soona s th ebattle starts to go in her favor the hermetic mage looses interest and moves her projected form to view inside the vehilce in search of the driver while outside the less powerful air elemntal shows that despite its force the work of a hermetic mage is superrior to that of a shammon.

As Kardis approached the oponents van, she suddenly noted the oposing shaman drifting towards her from behind, an nasty looking sword in hands, ready to slash her.

Kardis turns as she notices the incomeing shamman with the spiffy sword, "And vut do you think you are doing?" without realy giving the overgrown hippy enough time to respond she lunges forward as her hands glow with pure mana energy as she moves in past the weapon foci and looks to be striking the target directly in the chest.

It might seem the fight would go fully for Kardis first, but after getting two square hits, the shaman connects his blade squarely, just to feel Kardis connect hard to his stomach again. The guy does not look fit anymore, but his blade left a nice bleeding wound on Kardis left leg. Making it harder for her to simply overwhelm this shaman guy.

Kardis screams a her leg is sliced open. In the physical world her body remains motionless until sudenly blood starts to ooz from her leg where she sits. Back in the astral she screams and curses in Russian before going in for another strike, this time looking to put her hand right through the shammans head.

Kardis last hit takes the guy out. His physical body in that truck starting to spit blood as the damage reaches a critical level. The guy slumping in his seat.

Kardis's eyes reopen a second before she grunts in pain, "That fuck'ing bitch, I'm going to skin him and turn him into a hat!" she grumbles as she looks down at her leg, "Ve have a truck a little vays behind us. Ve are going to go take it out before the sun sets." with that said and after motioning back towards where the truck is she sets about healing her leg.

Kardis takes some time to focus on her leg and use her magic to slowly re-knit the gash and heal it, cursing in Russian the whole time.

Kardis just sees Vera leave the van in a hurry as she heals her wound. Cannon is scanning the area already back to full cybernetic controls after giving Vera an important order. Soon after that the van is rocked by grenades as three mobiles attack cannon's van, not really successfull due to the thick armor. There is grenadefire to be heard from the lead of the convoy, where Vera went to.

Vera checks her pistols, glancing over at her magic-using and vehicle-driving comrades. She frowns as she sees Kardis seem to pass out, and with Cannon still jacked in, she's concerned greatly about…vulnerability. Checking the ammo on her pistols and loading them with APDS away from the EXEX she'd used on the sasquatch, Vera checks her armor, draws her pistols, zips her coat, and ventures outside the truck. Can't let everyone be jumped while they're taking a snooze.

Cannonball suddenly jumps and get back into captains chair for a bit. "Vera, I need you on the front truck at once!", she calls out. "If they kill the snowblower, then we're caught in an inexscapable trap! And they can trounce us at leisure"

Vera nods to you. She had planned to defend the both of you just in case. "Comm me if you get into trouble. If we have to pull out, we do. I'm going to protect the snowblower, then," she says, efficiently, hopping out of the truck. Her mobility is slowed by the deep snow, so she tried to keep to the tracks made already and hustle around the vehicles. She pops her combat goggles on over her eyes and switches, given the deep snow, to thermographic.

Vera has barely arrived at the front position as she heard the noise of snow mobiles approaching. A trio of them driving fast towards her position, quite obviously aiming to go for the snowblower as Cannon had feared. Already shooting full blast with their Alpha's mingrenade-explosions blooming up in the snow all around. Cannons van obviously considered a prime target as well approached too.

Cannonball, having missed the approaching vehicles is a bit rocked as two grenades hit her van. Still the armor is holding up fully soaking the damage the ride is hit, her quick reflexes preventing the hit to affect the ride.

Vera narrows her eyes, focusing on the pistols as she finds her man, the snowmobile that's targeting the snow blower. She's intending to shoot immediately as the snowmobile comes into range, as she can't approach too far and the one attacking the snowblower has to be taken out absolutely as soon as possible. Aiming carefully, she readies herself to open fire at fifty meters.

One of the snow mobiles approaching cannon does a fatal mistake. The mobile shoots too early as it drops into a depression of the ground. The charge drops right in front of the vehicle and blows up ride and driver. The last heard from there is a loud boom. The other too miss their aim by a far margin, as they close up to about 80 meters.

Cannon on the other hand simply turns her HMG and lets the guys ride through suppressive fire, strafing her guns bullets bursting out in quick succession.
As Vera sees the damage happening to the vehicle, she starts to sprint, having to close the distance to the attacking snowmobiles. Six, all firing grenades? This is pretty hairy. She grits her teeth and get ready to try to close the range and open fire.

The enemies snow mobiles drive full into Cannons hail of bullets their close formation proving disastrous for them as two drivers get pelted with bullets wounding ones arm and anothers body. They are still approaching the van, but Cannon fully cybernetically linked to the ride is simply soaking the damage like a pro.

Fourth Session

Recap: Kardis, Vera and Cannon had been hired to protect a convoi to get fuel into Denver during the 'dark time'. (I assume that part of the plot is long over by now.) They had defeated a critter during a rest after an avalanche, then they were attacked by some two-legged vultures. Cannon sent Vera to the snow-blower at the top of the convoi to protect it, The blower received light damage from a grenade attack as Vera waited for the culprits (one blew himself up with his own grenade) to get into her range and moved out to meet him, meanwhile Cannon had been fighting the second attack team. Wounding one of the drivers M and one L."
Note: Kardis wasn't able to join us for this one so we finally finished it with Cannon and Vera alone.

Vera hustles herself as well as she can, her pair of pistols drawn and loaded with APDS as she moves to approach. She curses softly, to herself… 'I should have brought my damn rifle. Too bad it's in the shop.' She works on trying to close the distance, ready to open fire right at sixty meters range.
The two snowmobiles rush closer as well, the next volley of grenades falling close to the leading truck, but luckily far enough to cause no damage. Still snow is showerd over the truck as well as Vera on her way to meet her enemies.

Cannon starts this wound with some more well placed suppressive fire, this time she has more success and two of the drivers drop down on their seats and the other bleeding heavily seems far from willing to go on, he shears out and tries to escape the deadly hail of bullets.

Breathing hard, bringing a fog of mist in front of her face, the rather improperly suited Vera has finally brought her target in range. Focusing on one each, she lets her heartbeat work with her as she brings both of her pistols to bear, tracking the two targets independently through the smartlink interface. And she pulls the triggers twice each in rapid succession, arcing deadly bullets downrange toward her targets.

And so Vera manages to smile in triumph as she sees, even at this long range, that her shots are on target, center mass, spouts of blood from the wounds spurting onto the snow from where she has punched the tungsten-core bullets through the armor of the snowmobile riders.
The guys both start to twitch in pain as they get hit twice, massive ammounts of blood getting visible spurting forth from wounded limbs and bodies. The guys work to turn their mobiles away, but they will have to turn some more, moving closer into the danger zone caused by Vera. Seems they imagined the job easier.

Cannon does not like loose ends, so she fires another round of bullets into the guy fleeing, the guy getting splattered. With an happy grunt Cannon then sees as the other team shears away, « Good work, hon! », she transduces to Vera

Vera, standing planted where she is, keeps up the heavy path of fire. Her bullets from her second hand fly wide, and she curses softly, but her extra care spent aiming her second shots does take the edge off the situation.

One of the guys is really unlucky as a shot to his head shortens his lifetime drastically. The other, feeling the bullets zoom around his head makes of as quickly as he can. Cannon watches the scene from a distance, the guy would still be in her reach, unfortunately she also needs to drive the van. « Vera, Kardis tells me their mage is out and they are having their 'base', on the bay back on our own tracks. Come back here! We'll finish them there! », she transduces.

Vera sprints towards the snowmobile that is now unoccupied. «Why don't I catch this guy?» she asks over the comm. «I'm sure I tagged him good. I might not be the best on a snowmobile, but I bet I can do it better than a guy who's lungshot.»

Commlink-CB> Cannonball says, "No need, without help he'll bleed to death out here and all we need to do is to take out his help. We have four more bikes with them according to Kardis. I think if we kill them, we might even get some nice loot…"

Commlink-Posh> Vera says, "Now that certainly sounds like a party. At the very least, we could probably sell these snowmobiles for something…or maybe they might have a nice little truck, or something."

And so, in order to fulfill Cannonball's suggestion, Vera holsters her weapons and moves her way back to the convoy.

Cannonball barely waits long enough to have Vera in the van, side door still open she drives backwards after that to approach the opositions base.

Cannonball has barely enough time to call out, "Mobiles approaching us on two vectors!", as two pairs try to take them from flanking positions.

Vera nods. "All right. I'm best at short range. Try to lure them in, and then at point blank, I'll open fire. I can almost be guaranteed to take out two at once if they're within about twenty meters," she says, preparing herself again for another assault as the base gets approached.

Cannon opens with the faithfull suppressive fire and on their bikes the guys don't really have a chance to evade the onslaught of bullets, one gets seriously hurt, the other at least badly. One tries to get away, the other continues his attack.

Vera suddenly bursts out of the back of the van, both pistols at the ready. She holds her breath for a moment, holding, holding, bringing both crosshairs up to the center of the back of the fleeing one. Careful…careful…and then suddenly Vera fires, both triggers pulling almost simultaneously.

Vera grits her teeth, holding in a cry as one of the bullets thumps into her armor, while another chunks into the flesh part of the outside of her thigh, passing through her armored clothing. She collapses to a kneel, bleeding onto the snow as she finds her next target to track.

Cannon again places suppressive fire in the guys path and both erupt with several bullets through their bodies, bloodying them up quite a bit.

Vera selects one of the other targets, gritting her teeth against the pain as she bleeds from her leg onto the ground. She tries her best to bring both crosshairs, now far more shakily, onto the target.

Another guy falls from his roaring snow mobile. The snow coloring red with his blood.

Vera's aim is (mostly) true - in an odd trick of fait, the left-handed Vera's left pistol misses both shots, but her weaker hand punches through the target's armor twice, killing him in his seat. «One left. I'm hit, but not terribly.»

Vera prevents herself from settling down in the comfy snow, and begins to limp her way back to the van. She really doesn't know any medicine beyond trying to put direct pressure on her wound, tearing off a strip from her shirt to tie around it.

The last guy does not get far either as the next blast of autfire ammo centers on him and it creates large craters in his body as the heavy rounds blast through him. She grunt satified as she takes in the other elf. The rest proves to be easy, as the armed escorts taken out, the enemies truck surrenders to be taken into custody by the convoys members. One truck richer the trip slowly draws closer to it's end while Vera gets treated by one of the knwledgeable members of the convoy as well as Kardis.

Vera gives a smile to Cannonball if she jacks out to check on things. "Well, I suppose we've got a little base to examine," she says, as Vera is healed to an achy limp instead of a fresh gunshot wound by all the appropriate attention. She moves up to her feet. "And then let's get these puppies home," she says of the convoy, offering a smile to the blonde elf.
