SK Snatch and Grab
GM: Slinger
Players: Slinger (GM), Daemon Starks, Slide, Mary, Nate, Bigman
Synopsis:
Slinger contacts the runners about some news — Saeder-Krupp is
shutting down one of their facilities, and there's a window where
security is minimal, and the gear is bundled up ready for transport.

Unbeknownst to the runners, the warehouse is being abandoned, and it
is a trap. SK was circulating the information to see what might
leak, and take out whoever tries to go after it.

The group arrives, enters the place, finds it wired with explosives
to blow when someone enters. They actually get into the place, but
before they have time to really do more than snatch and grab, a
group of gangers show up, don't notice the trap, and proceed to set
off the bomb. The team barely escapes with their lives.

Date: 2 Nov 2069

Part I: The Meeting

It begins with a phone call. A place to meet somebody. In some cases, somebody you already know, Slinger. Quiet and discreet in an out-of-the-way apartment in the Warrens. Bring gear, leave anything too massive in the car. Something quick and quiet and hopefully profitable. When people arrive, Slinger is there, the room already with a lingering haze of unfiltered cigarette smoke.

«Auto-Judge[kn]» Slide (#3162) rolls 6 (Disguise Soft) for "+4 Polymask: Today I am Young Clint Eastwood":
1 2 3 5 5 16

Mary grabs a small bag of readily available bits and pieces and grabs her helmet. "Yo, Nate, let's go." She tosses another helmet and a balaclava to him, sliding her own over her head and heading to the bike.
Slide gets his stuff together then sets up his diguise, after making the final touches he loads up a backpack with the things he thinks he will need, then a duffle back with other junk he will leave in his jeep. He heads to the apartment and parks his Jeep, locking it up and then heading to the apartment, he knocks on the door and after entering nods to Slinger, but says nothing yet.
Bigman throws a bag over his shoulders with his gear stuffed into it. He walks down from his apartment and gets on his bike. He drives to the arranged meeting spot, climbs off and looks around. He walks up to the apartment building and goes to the apartment that was told to him.
Daemon Starks slides his pocsec into his dark leather jacket, slides the pistols into their concealables, checks ammo then heads for the car carrying a briefcase and a duffle bag. He's soon arriving to the spot, checking all angle and doing a quiet sensor scan for threats before pulling on his shades, fedora hat low, and a fake pencil mustache w/ light goatee.

Nate follows Mary, job time and he has worked for this J before. He rides bitch to the meeting with a large bag slung across his back, awesome. Letting Mary pull the bike up somewhere near the spot but out of clear sight, getting off and looking around, dragging his helmet off to leave just the face obscuring balaclava.

Slinger waits for people to arrive, lights up another cigarette. Gestures to a makeshift bar where there are drinks ranging from cold fizzycoke to harder things, makes small talk with people while waiting for everyone to arrive.
Once people are assembled, though, he picks up his pocsec, which is linked to a simple trid projector. "I have some intel, and a potential opportunity. This isn't a job so much as something that came to my attention. I have to be somewhere — so I have to bring in others on this. It turns out that Saeder-Krupp has a small facility here in the Warrens. It also turns out that they've made an executive decision to close it down.
"It also turns out that they haven't made this decision public. Not all departments are informed. But — and I have a contact who slipped me some information — it turns out that security got caught in bureaucracy. And they're running minimal staff during the closedown."
Slinger grins. "Their loss is our gain. Because frankly, this is a target ripe for the picking. We're talking passive security, primarily, and they still haven't moved their stuff out. That means go in, get whatever we can carry, and get back out again. Snatch and grab. There's something in particular that I'm after, actually, but anything else you guys can get is yours."

Slide stands with a coke and sips from it as he listens, he nods then speaks up "What sort of materials are being stored? Electronic? Magical? Weapons?"

Nate nods as he processes the job, fizzycoke in hand but hardly touched. "Mostly passive with minimal staff. This sounds pretty good, too good? The source is reputable then?"

Bigman just nods to the information, doesn't take a drink, and sits quietly.
Mary follows Nate in, plopping down, dragging her helmet off, face covered by a matching balaclava. "Mmmm. What are we looking at for non human security? Cameras, locks, etc."
Daemon Starks pulls out a cigarette after studying everyone at the gathering, he offer a slight grin at those he's familiar with then takes a nice spot with his back to the wall and an eye on the door. Exhaling smoke, he listens patiently to Slinger and sifting the information in his head.

"Source is pretty reputable, but I haven't been able to confirm through other sources. If I press too hard on this, I risk tipping somebody off. They think they're doing this nice and quiet, internal channels. And as for what they do there… some electronics, no real magic that I know of. Some weapons. But some light vehicle-related manufacturing.
"What I want? I need a cabin overpressurization module, the compressor for it, and a rigger-adaptation system. Got a friend who can install those for me. But from what I can tell, they haven't moved out their inventory yet."
He shrugs a shoulder. "As for security, I'm guessing your basic locks and stuff. Cameras, probably, but no idea what else. I don't have a detailed security layout. But here's the thing — you get these guys on high alert, and they may just close up the place airtight. You don't have the usual protection that people need to get in or out."

Mary nods slowly, tapping her fingers on her other elbow. "Might be able to hack into the place, if we got a computer whiz handy." She mutters at the extra news. "Well, we better not set these guys off. Any chance we can get more info on 'em? Blue prints or such?"
Daemon Starks watches the projector, taking a slow drag and exhaling a stream of gray blue smoke from the black thin cigarette. "S.K.'ll have drones I'd guess, to keep living security minimal."
Slide nods "We also need to keep something large on the outside, incase they do lock us in, we can simply blow open a door. I can hack thier system from the inside if they have a terminal, I'm very good, just dont have my own hardware at the moment."

Nate mmms and looks around at the group assembled, "Well I know I can get in, if other's can deal with those separate problems we should be free and clear to… snatch what we need."

Slinger shakes his head. "I don't have blueprints," the youth admits. "I wasn't able to get that. We're talking minimal time on this — there was a window of opportunity of maybe six hours. Three of those are gone. That's the time between when they cleared out personnel, and when the delivery trucks come by to clean out the last of the inventory. They aren't going to leave that there before they close the building for good."

Mary nods. "I got a fair hand with locks, so's I can dig through any problem doors…ah, was gonna ask about time." She grunts. "What's the minimal payout on this?"

Slinger smirks at Mary's comment. "Minimal payout. You want me to make you a personal guarantee?" he asks, with a soft chuckle. "My trade is the info for the items. Should be pretty much a fair trade," the youth drawls, as he lights up another cancer stick. "But if you guys can't get out of there with a few hundred kay worth of stuff to split between you or fence, you're looking in the wrong places."

Daemon Starks nods, "I'll get eyes in the sky immediately then to track any extra ground and air movement.. download aerial footage to match blueprints if someone wants to drift the trix for it without stirring the waters. We'll need those blue prints to manuever quickly without drawing a chalk line every step of the way." Starks exhales, "Locks, so long as they have card readers, can be quickly bypassed.. I've got keycards someone can use. As for emergency evac.." He pauses, "I could keep an attack helicopter on standby, happens to be in the warrens as we speak; along with a large squadron of combat rotorcraft drones and vert thrust combat drones. "
Daemon Starks adds in, "I'll make a hole to escape from if push comes to shove, leave no doubt."
Slide nods to Starks "Lets keep that on standby, its more polite to leave any living security alive and unconsious rather than dead. I think with our time frame we simply need to run fast and quiet through this, we go in quick and quiet, find the targets, pick up anything else good we see and run for it. What we need is a large transport vehicle to haul us and the loot out of there."

Nate hmms at Starks, "Large transport vehicle like he says, can we not just drive it to the loading bay and haul out with half a ton of expensive gear?"

Slinger glances at his wrist chrono, then nods once. "Any other quick questions? I have to get." He takes the projector under one arm, but leaves the booze and the rest, and sets a datachip down. "Address is in there, along with what intel I have. It's not much," he admits. "Like I said, not much time on this. It's why I'm outsourcing the opportunity."

Daemon Starks agrees with Slide, "Of course, we're looking for a pay day, not to make a huge corporation angry." He grins, "Keep two types of ammo, one non-lethal. I'm sure we're all aware that a body count will bring on too much heat."
Mary nods, checking her gear bag. "I'm good to go…damn, need to put in for a good ruth suit." She glances up. "And he's right, notta lotta time, we better move."
Bigman nods "I can handle some of the human security, as well as keep an eye out on the astral plane, see if they have any magical security we aren't aware of"

Nate shakes in response to more questions, "I'm ready to go."

Slide nods "Ready to move out as soon as we figure out transport and drop off points, need to know where to dump your packages."

Daemon Starks nods, "Polymask up, no loose ends.. once we find a blind spot to infiltrate, Slide, we'll need you to find a security terminal asap and start shutting down cams and opening up lock nodes." He stands up and preps to leave.
Bigman says "I may just stay on the perimeter so if things get messy I can come in. I'm not very stealthy"
Slide sighs slightly and moves over near Starks "Call me Tex when we work with others."

Basic layout of the building that you can get from the drones match some of what Slinger has on the datachip. The building is in a crappy part of town, and doesn't even look to be in th best shape, itself. It's your basic warehouse facility — an office area in front, then larger, subdivided areas in back. A loading dock. There is a trailer occupying one of the loading docks that looks nonfunctional, missing a few wheels, jacked up, but no tractor. No vehicles in the parking lot.

Part II: Planning (OOC)

«OOC» Nate says, "Thinks we infiltrate it, sort stuff out, maybe just hit the security office and disable everything then drive a truck up, load it and leave."
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >we take a large GMC Bulldog, have a seader krupp paint job (meaning we find what their vans look like online quickly and install that image into the photovoltaic chameleon paint processor.) The traponder library isn't really gonna need to emit a code, they don't use much gridguide in the warrens.. but I'll have a fixer do a quick search & slot me a security tranponder code to match SK security. We arrive into the loading docks, work our way in and keep it quiet, nuetralizing everything we come by.<
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >slide finds the closest security terminal and starts dissabling all cam/security nodes<
«OOC» Nate says, "Got a supplier for SK uniforms or something? Look like hte loaders come early?"
«OOC» Nate says, "I suppose we need a reall good eti roll on getting uniforms and bring the time to acquire down to like 30 minutes."
«OOC» Slinger says, "It's easy to find a few holos of Saeder-Krupp vehicles online, pretty trivial to load that into the vehicle's photovoltaic paint. Should pass casual inspection, anyway."
«OOC» Daemon Starks nods, Sounds good. let's just make a quick inquiry to a fix then, see if someone has SK uniforms on hand froma previous need or something
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >i'll call my fixer Slinger, and make the inquiry<
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Daemon Starks (#2946) has the Contact Rocco Johnson with the following information:
-----> Contact for Daemon Starks (#2946) <-----
Contact Name: Rocco Johnson
Level: 3
Type: fixer

«OOC» Slinger says, "Mary, what'd you want from that contact you proved?"
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Daemon Starks (#2946) rolls Etiquette (Mafia) vs TN 5 for "finding uniforms on the quick TN 5":
2 2 2 2 2 5 7 = 2 Successes
«OOC» Slinger says, "Daemon — I'm gonna say base avail is 6 on this, since it's a fairly specific item. Cost is 200 =Y= per uniform, but SI of 4. Base time is… let's say 2 days (48 hours)."
«OOC» Slinger says, "As a quick estimate, let's say that for 2K a uniform, he can have them within 2 hours."
«OOC» Slide says, "Thats too long, need them in like 30 minutes!"
«OOC» Slinger says, "5K a uniform for that… and he'll have them in 30 minutes, guaranteed."
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >ok, i'd like to use negotiate to lower the price down<
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >need 3 uniforms<
«OOC» Slinger says, "All right. Your TN is… let's say 5. He's not the brightest in the world."
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Daemon Starks (#2946) rolls Negotiation vs TN 5 for "vs Fixers INT 5":
1 1 3 4 9 = 1 Success
«OOC» Nate says, "What about the bonus dice form a level 3 contact? :)"
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Daemon Starks (#2946) rolls 1 vs TN 5 for "bonus dice":
2 = 0 Successes
«OOC» Slinger says, "What's your int, Daemon?"
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Daemon Starks (#2946) has the Attribute Intelligence with the value '8'.
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Slinger (#69) rolls 6 vs TN 8:
1 1 2 4 4 11 = 1 Success
«OOC» Slinger says, "No change in price unless you wanna karma."
«OOC» Nate says, "So it's 5k a uniform and you're getting 3?"
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >ok, i'll +spend 5k. anyone else wanna +spend 5k for the uniforms? that gives you a sweet uniform for future runs<
«OOC» Slinger says, "15K. We'll take it out of payout."
«OOC» Slinger says, "Just tell me who's paying what, and I'll put it in the log."
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >Mary, Slide, Daemon, Nate. oh, yeah 4 uniforms<
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >we share the cost of the uniforms into total payout, we'll make up for it by grabbing some great equipment.<
«OOC» Slinger says, "Fair enough. Uniforms will be delivered whereever you say. Anything else, prep-wise?"

«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >time frame for a matrix search for Slide, looking for a quick blue print on that warehouse address?<
«OOC» Slide says, "On a pocsec, I'm not going to find much :)"
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >I'll have a ghost in the machine run a fast paced search for updated warehouse grid blueprint<
«OOC» Slinger says, "Hisako'll want 10K to get you that, on the quick."
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >then upload to my pocsec as we're on our way, can't waste any time<
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >10k, done<
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Daemon Starks (#2946) rolls Negotiation vs TN 10:
1 1 1 2 2 = 0 Successes
«Plot» Slinger says, "The office area is fairly typical, with doors out into the plant. The warehouse area appears to be cordoned off into various sectors, with rather thick walls separating them. Walls of the place are ferrocrete, with the internal walls being a thinner ferrocrete. Looks like they had them erected for security, for some reason. She manages to get a hold of this fairly quickly — direct hack rather than just a search. Also, looks like wiring for cameras is run all over the place. Maglocks on the doors separating the areas. The loading dock is its own area. There are also motion sensors and things like that just to improve security. However, the building does /not/ appear to be rigged."
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >ok, with the blue print, we can make a great plan upon entry. Going through the cargo docks, entering and searching for the high tech equipment and the compression device+rigger adaption module<
«OOC» Slide says, "Motion sensors are going to be tough to get around"
«OOC» Nate says, "they must have a way of shifting stuff quickly from the warehouse to the dock"
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >true.. true. we need a delivery manifest then.. hmmm, minimal security. Can Hisako dissable all cams and motion sensors now that she's hacked in? for extra cash?<
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >well, we don't stealth if we go the deliver route.. but we have to look legit enough to even get through without too many problems if we don't stealth as well.<
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >i have a R10 ultrasound emitter/detector, defeats motion sensors.. but you have to move no more than 1.5 meters/second<
«OOC» Nate says, "It's either hold the disguise well enough to make them think we're a legit part of the offloading crew. Or just use that to get in and then whack the whole facility and erase their security."
«OOC» Slinger says, "Hisako thinks she could, but there's a risk. If anybody is monitoring those systems, there's a good chance this will tip them off."
«OOC» Bigman says, "It may not just be an ulrasound for a motion detector"
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >ok, no go on Hisako shutting down systems. we'll do it from internal. Try to squeeze in. BUT, i'd like hisako to find us a security code for radio'ing in when we arrive at the docks.<
«OOC» Slinger says, "None that you saw on aerial."
«OOC» Slide says, "Who are the disguises to fool then?"
«OOC» Slide says, "I'm must be confused, I thought Slinger was saying its an empty warehouse thats just locked up tight and no ones home"
«OOC» Nate says, "Minimal staff could be one or two guards."
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >i think he said they're down to minimal staff<
«OOC» Slinger says, "I'm open to things you want to explore. But your clock is ticking. You've gone through about 30 minutes so far with various kinds of prep. Uniforms are arriving, by the way."
«Plot» Nate gets changed into his uniform, with his form fitting and forearms guards beneath, gloves on.
«Plot» Daemon Starks says, "changes into uniform, keeping FFBA, forearm guards, on underneath. Switching to working class wage slave synthleather armored jacket to go on over it."
«Plot» Bigman stays in the van, hidden in the back, wearing his full-suit form fitting, and Security Jacket over the top.
«OOC» Nate says, "So, plan so far: Breach via automated security, radio code, disguises. Infiltrate the in house security, disable it and wipe it (Slide) requisition loading gear to fill the van. ???. Profit!"
«OOC» Nate says, "Mary and I can do that while DS subverts their drone system?"
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >most likely, unless the Otaku can hack us a SK manifest for delivery of the items we want, and we take what items we find<
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >i believe there's not a drone system there, from what was decked by Hisako<
«OOC» Nate says, "And if Bigman is ruthed he can stealth around popping stuff."
«OOC» Slide says, "I think I'm going to buy a cheap deck, just for things like this."
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Slide (#3162) has the Active Skill Specialization Computers (Decking) with the value '7'.
«OOC» Nate says, "So manual type loading gear, like fork lifts."
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >there's motion sensors.. he'll be better astrally scanning, unless there's astral barriers<
«OOC» Slide says, "Stay in the van, go astral, and report what you see to the rest of us"
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >ok, we go in with a SK designed paint job that matches their vans. we have the uniforms.. if she can hack a quick SK manifest to pass the minimal gaurds, we can just walk in.<
«OOC» Nate says, "do we want to split, be loading the van even while we're knocking out sec? Because we don't have much time."
«OOC» Slide says, "Odds are they arent warding it, remember people, a mage can only ward so much space, so not everything in the world is warded because there are limited mages and people only ward the important stuff"
«OOC» Slide says, "Send some watchers inside to count how many living people are in the building"
«OOC» Slide says, "That will take all of 2 seconds, then we know how many we need to knock out"
«OOC» Slinger nods. I'm gonna give you guys another 15 minutes of planning time, and then we need to move. Wanna get this wrapped up :)
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >it's a warehouse in the warrens, it'll take SK time to get an HTR team if we trip the alarms<
«OOC» Slide says, "Send other watchers in to check for astral security, elementals, spirits, wards, ect"
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >i'd say 30min base time in the air from central corp downtown or fringe corp in CAS<
«OOC» Nate says, "I say we're ready to go, leave the plan flexible for what we don't expect."
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >with my RCD flux +signal amp R10, I can reach ranges of 35 KM away. What part of the warrens are we going in relative to say.. the Cybered Arm in distance?<
«OOC» Bigman says, "alright, I'll summon watchers once we get in, just remember to close to Van doors so I can come out of hiding with out being seen :P"
«OOC» Nate says, "We need a radio frequency and a code to get us into the place, hopefully from Hisako."
«OOC» Slinger says, "Gonna say about 2 km from the cybered arms or so. I haven't decided exactly where it is, sorta winging that."
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >yes, the manifest and radio frequency will make us more legit, and easier to get in<
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >sweet, the chopper and attack drones are close enough for quickness<
«OOC» Slinger says, "You want a radio frequency and a code to… do what, exactly."
«OOC» Nate says, "Basically how I miagine the place is automated somewhat"
«OOC» Nate says, "On site radio frequencies and code to transmit to prove legitimacy."
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >a pick up cargo manifest with the items you want on it, + extras<
«OOC» Slinger says, "Hisako can't find anything of that nature. As for manifest… there're lists of items. All sorts of vehicle parts, some guns, some security systems. Nothing really magically oriented in here, though there are also some electronics items."
«OOC» Slinger says, "Some degree of locations. One area seems to have been for vehicles, another for electronis. The weapons are the most heavily protected one, based on the floorplan you have."
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >yes, but a downloading pick up cargo manifest to show the gaurds what we're here to pick up.<
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >can she hack some cargo pick up logs to show we're coming?<
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >your rigger adaption part and compressor?<
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >tack on several of the electronics equipment there..<
«OOC» Slinger says, "Sure, she can dummy something up real fast. Not difficult."
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >ok, let's go in, put non lethal ammo in, I'll slot gelcapsule chem rounds of DMSO/Gammascopaline mix. 10S Stun, no armor bonus unless it's rigid security armor with chem seal<
«OOC» Slinger says, "Otherwise, let's flip back to IC time. And start heading that way. Meter is running."

Part III: After Preparations

The van arrives at the meet spot, Starks sending the order and coordinate through the Remote Control Deck plugged to his VCR via thin clear wire jack. When the van is ordered, he preps pre coordinated orders for the drones inside the warehouse and the helicopter for start up/manuevering orders in case he needs to submitt on the quick and narrow with no time to think.
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Daemon Starks (#2946) rolls Computers vs TN 6 for "comprehension test for putting order to drones":
3 5 5 5 = 0 Successes
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >programming<
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Daemon Starks (#2946) rolls Computers (Programming) + Task Pool: 3 vs TN 6:
1 3 4 4 5 5 7 17 = 2 Successes
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >TN is really only 3, simple task of start up/travel to this location.<
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >ah well<
Mary gets into her sleek full body armoured suit, then pulls the SK uniform over it. She makes certain her balaclava is on hand, that her holdout is well tucked away, and her knife is in place.
Bigman gets into the van, throws over the Ruth suit and crawls into the back of the van. "I'm ready, I'll start summoning a Watcher. Do we want just one or more?"

Nate sorts his gear out, taking kits form his bag and fastening them inside the uniform overalls on his belt, keeping them quite well hidden. His sport rifle is left in the bag for emergencies. He jumps up into the back of the van, leaving the bag in the corner there while his pistol goes into the small of his back in a concealable.

«Plot» Daemon Starks says, "Bugsy is at the warehouse, along with warehouse personel in the +security, they'll have standing orders to open the hanger and the allow the chopper + drones room to leave when they start up."
«OOC» Slinger says, "Just for giggles, roll for the Watcher. BG count is 2, here."

The trip toward the building is uneventful. It's coming up on the left. There is a barbed-wire chain-link fence around the place, and the gate is down, with a card scanner at the entrance. The parking-lot beyond is deserted, and no signs of anyone moving around.

Slide gets on the SK uniform and keeps his disguise on, he hides his pistols as best he can with the uniform, going for stealth instead with his stilettos.
«OOC» Slinger says, "Plenty of time for us to deal with spirit-foo."
«OOC» Slide says, "Bigman, summon the biggest watcher you can, cause thier Force is thier intelligence"
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Bigman (#9958) rolls Conjuring vs TN 4 for "F4 Watcher Spirit":
1 1 2 2 5 = 1 Success
«OOC» Slinger says, "How are you negating BG count?"
«OOC» Slinger says, "Full BG count applies to summoning, half to drain resist. And it's BG count 2."

«OOC» Bigman says, "I'll take that light Stun"

Bigman sits in the back of the van, working his knowledge and formula in his head, using it to summon two watcher spirits. Shortly after the second one is summon, a blood veseal pops in his eye and it floods his eye right. He closes his eyes and goes into astral perception. Openning his eyes he sees the two watchers before him. He turns to the 1 hour watcher "Go into the Saeder-Krupp building when we arive. Scout out the building, and come back. Report back ANY astral being's, and human locations." he then turns to the 2 hour watcher. "Go follow my team mates and watch astral space in their imidiate location. If there is any astral beings that are in their area, find out what it is, and report back to me, then continue to follow them." he flips back into meat vision.

The first watcher zips off, while the second stays close to the team. While on the way, given that you gave it good directions to the building… it comes back, probably a minute later. "Nobody in there!" it reports back. "No astral no humans no metahumans. There's bugs. Some bugs. Like spiders."

Nate muhs, "Spiders? Or Spiderspirit bugs?"

Slide frowns "Wait, it said no astral right, arent those spirit things like magiky stuff too? Do these things count the bugs in a building too?"

As you approach the facility, it's easily visible. Surrounded by a chain link fence topped with barbed wire, with signs declaring it corporate property, off-limits, authorized personnel only. There is a gate as well, currently closed, also topped with barbed wire. And next to the gate, where you can reach it from the driver's side of the vehicle, a card reader.

Mary frowns. "We're not talking somethin' like those toxic critters? Some real bad juju kinda stuff? I mean, I ain't up on on magical goings on but bugs just don't sound right."

Daemon Starks continues driving to the facility in the Saedder Krupt, he's rethinking and thinking again the plan, the manifest, the items inside, the layout of the floor from the loading/unloading cargo docks. Before arriving at the security gate, he pulls out the duffle as the vehicle drives itself for the moment; rumaging through and pulling out an extra clip of AV ammo and a clip of some strange eerie glowing capsule ammo that seems almost.. magical. He pockets them into concealed straps for quick access inside his concealable holster cargo net rig up. Then the security keycard comes out and he takes over to steer up to the security terminal card reader at the gate. "Everyone ready?"

Bigman looks at the watcher "Continue to scout that building" he points to the building as they are driving up to it "ALL of it. Report back Astral signatures, Metahuman, Human, Spirits, and Elementals."
Bigman adds "And any alarm wards too"

The watcher nods swiftly. "I do it again! I obey!" And it zips off.

Bigman looks at the team "The one watcher is going to watch astral space near you guys. The second is going on routine scouting opperations. The one covering you is 2 hour life, the scout is only an hour. After that I'll have to summon more. So far, the scout isn't finding anything but bugs…some sort of spider"

Nate grimaces, "Ugh, I hate spiders." He shudders involuntarily at ther thought of the creepy crawlies.

Slide checks his pistols, they are small delicate things with silencers, he checks the gel loadout and then holsters them back. He picks up the tools he got from Starks, the stuff to disable the locks and junk.
Mary grunts and nods, then looks amused at Nate. "As long as their not them toxic spirit thingies, we're good. Just sqoosh them with yer boots."
Bigman looks to the second watcher "If the team has something coming up on them on Astral space, report it to them"
Bigman says "as well as me"

The watcher signals acknowledgement. The first Watcher returns. "No spirits no elementals no humans no metahumans. There's hearth spirit, but it's asleep. I found a nest of mice. They go squeak."

Daemon Starks rolls down the window pressing a button, and slots the keycard and waits for it to run the real numbers and defeat the system for a legitimate swipe; open sesame style.

There is a pause. And then, the light on the keypad changes to green. Click! And the gate begins to roll aside.

Nate blehs at Mary and waits patiently in the back of the van. "Bah to insects!"

Mary rolls her eyes. "Kids nowadays." She jokes quietly, smiling, then goes silent as the van rolls through.
Bigman says "There is mice to, and a Hearth spirit, asleep, but there""
Bigman says "But he is saying there is no Metahumans or Humans. No guards? That's odd….""

Nate frowns, "A hearth spirit could really mess us around."

Nate says "Wait, how is there a spirit without a summoner?"
«Plot» Slinger says, "This is easy. I play that a hearth spirit is always 'there', but 'asleep' unless summoned. The building has a spirit, yes, but it is dormant until summoned."
Bigman shakes his head "It's dorminate, everything has a spirit too it so to speak." he turns to the first watcher "Go again, examine the spiders. Find out exact details on them. If they are influence by mana any way. Keep an eye out for any other previously mentioned as well. Continue to search the building FULLY"

The Watcher spirit zips off again.

Bigman says "Then report back"
Daemon Starks slides the spirit buster ammo into a secured pouch for quick access in case he needs to clip it after rolling up the window and driving through. He reaches in and pulls out a small hand held electronic device, turning it on: Ultrasound emitter/detector on <R10>.

«Plot» Daemon Starks says, "opposed test to counter motion sensors"
«OOC» Slinger says, "Sure, why not. Roll it, TN 6."
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Slinger (#69) rolls 6 vs TN 10 for "Motion sensors?":
1 2 3 5 8 15 = 1 Success
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Daemon Starks (#2946) rolls 10 vs TN 6 for "motion sensor counter equipment":
1 1 1 1 1 2 2 2 3 8 = 1 Success

Part IV: Getting inside

As you drive inside, nothing happens. The gate rolls closed behind you. A few papers blow in the light wind, a few of them hitting the fence and seeming to stick. The drive leads to a parking lot in front, near the office area, and also around back toward the loading docks. There is an entrance in front, an entrance on the side, and one near the docks.

Daemon Starks looks back of the van, "Everyone got disguises on? All hair follicles wrapped up neat in a stocking cap and hat? No evidence.. no loose ends, and for gods sake, don't let the cameras see your real face."
Slide grins "I shave my body bald for a reason." his mask is set and he puts on his gloves to cover the fingerprints
Mary smiles and shakes out her dreads. They immediately curl up into a sheaf of black waves, and she ties them back. Applies baseball cap. Thick pair of horn rim glasses. "Good to go."
Daemon Starks puts on a tight nylon cap under the hat to secure loose hair, then slides the hat on and dark glasses that are electronicly modified and enhanced for various things; they look flashy.
«Plot» Daemon Starks says, "ECM on and passive sensors for any moving objects, electronic scanning, etc."

Nate copies the more experienced runners, capping his shorn hair and putting a cheap cap on over that. "Best I can do." He pulls the peak over his eyes and keeps it low.

«Plot» Daemon Starks says, "ECM R4, ECCM R4, Sensors R4. Snooper drone above, with Sensors 5 will report any activity and movement nearing / approaching the compound within a 5 mile radius, to a signature scan, then report through the RCD that Starks will keep on his body, waiting for the vibration of incoming report."

The loading dock consists of two rolling doors. In front of the first is parked the broken-down trailer. It appears to have been in an accident, not driveable. The second door is empty, calibrated for cargo vehicles. Next to the door is a metal staircase and deck, covered with an awning. On the staircase is a metal door, with a card scanner and keypad beside it.

The van with the S-K design pulls up to the loading dock, doing a three point turn and backing up to the dock level for the back of the van to open up. He keeps the engine running and says, "Keep your taccom's on frequence 420KB, 2nd switch if needed to 187K9. Subvocal, keep communication to a minimum if you can help it. Let's not stir the air. Two groups, Slide and Me, Nate and Mary.. we split up, you hit the electronic section, do you know what the compressor and the rigger adaption equipment look like?"
Mary nods, making sure her transducer is hooked up. "Yeah. Nate, you?"

Nate shakes his head to DS, tuning his radio frequencies to the two given. "No, not a clue."

Slide fixes his comm to the signals and nods.
Bigman turns to the 2 hour "Find the other watcher I summoned, tell him to return, then continue to your previous orders"

Watcher comes back. "Found spiders! They laid eggs. Little spiders, with little webs in the corners of places. Lots of 'em. Why you worried about little spiders?"

Bigman bits his lips "Do they have any astral signature to them to indicate influence of magic? Or are they mundane spiders?"

"No astral. They got webs. But just webs. Filamenty-things on the astral. Little spiders. They're just spiders."

Daemon Starks nods, "Ok, you two hit the weapons area, infiltrate it; you have electronics toolkit? If not, there's one in the back of the van." Starks takes smaller black canvas duffle and shoulders it; contianing some electronics/security equipment that may come in handy. "We've got 2 hours.. let's get out in less than twenty minutes."
Bigman nods "Well, the building looks empty guys." he says to the team "I don't know what else I need to have him look at"

Nate acknowledges, "Yeah, got the kits I need. Alright, let's go, open up that rolly door."

Mary nods and gets ready to leave. "I think we're good to go. Worst comes to worst, ya got us an escape route, right?" She looks to Starks and grins.
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >from the blueprints, where's the likely electronics storage from here?<

The loading docks comprise the nearest sector. There is a hallway running around it, a corridor. Behind it is the automotive area. Then electronics. Then weapons. The office is at the front.

Bigman looks at the scout watcher "Search this particular building again. Look at the hallways and rooms. Continue to search, unless you find an astral signature, metahuman or human, elemental or spirit, besides the hearth spirit previous mentioned. Particular keep an eye out for Alarm Wards. If you are unsure of what to do, or are confused, return to me"
«OOC» Slide says, "Poor bigman, he feels so useless he is just driving the poor watchers to do it over and over :P"

Watcher acknowledges, heads off.

Mary hefts an empty pack onto her shoulder and waits with her hand on the van doors. She listens…ears almost seem to be tilted…and then opens it carefully, sniffing the air and peering about.

«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >Hisako will send me a warning message to my pocsec if alarms go off on the grid for this place?<
«OOC» Slinger says, "She'll try, yes."

Nate slides up behind Mary, "Keep it slow, normal pace. Don't need to act worried. disable security office first, then loot." He whispers into the van carefully, going over his own plans.

Daemon Starks nods, "Alright, let's get to it. Nate, how's your security dissabling skills?"
Mary steps outside of the van all casual like, yawns, stretches, just looks around like any normal person. She turns slightly, nodding to Nate with a faint smile.

Nate shrugs, "Mary's better, and him too. I'm not bad." He points at Slide.

Slide climbs out of the van slowly, sticking close to Starks for his buffer of protection with his device.
Daemon Starks looks to Bigman, "Keep tabs on the elemental, make sure it stays dormant. Slide, hit the security office.. Mary and Nate need time to open the weapons cache doors I'm sure, no need for extra stops. Those locks won't be easy. I'll find the J's equipment, and start evaluating what they have in electronics for the pay day. Then we load as much as we can." He gets out and starts for the second roll up door.

The rollup doors are down, both of them. And there is no card-reader next to them, nor a keypad or anything like that.

Nate slips out the back then after Mary and does a quick stretch of his own. "Alrighty then." He looks around and heads towards the stairs and the awning with the door.

Daemon Starks goes past the roll ups and heads for the entrance hallway that leads to the storage for electronics.
Mary nods and follows Nate, continuing to keep her ears, eyes, and nose open for any sudden surprises.
«OOC» Slinger says, "How exactly are you accomplishing that, Daemon?"
«OOC» Slinger says, "I didn't see 'walk through walls' on your +sheet ;)"
«OOC» Slide says, "I assume he goes to the door with the cardreader on the loading dock right?"
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >ok.. back to the beginning, loading dock.. 2 roll up doors, no keypad.. stairwell leadin gup to door<

There is a card-reader next to the entrance door atop the metal landing, along with a keypad. A single light glows red.

Nate turns to the rest, putting on a bad American drawl, "Ok, which of you'se jokers knows the passcode huh?" Keeping up the pretence.

There is one camera. Watching the approach. Though it cannot actaully see the door itself, because of the way it is angled. It is on a swivel mount so it can move, but is not currently moving.

Commlink-Demon> Daemon Starks says, "keep an eye on the camera after we get to the door, watch for the swivel, I'll pop the case and crack the lock quickly."
Commlink-Mary> Mary says, "Ayup"
Daemon Starks approaches the door, once out of the angle range, he quickly pulls out the tool kit and works the casing.
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >perception for any hidden cameras on teh door or lock?<
«OOC» Slinger says, "TN is going to be… 10 base. This is a good lock."
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Daemon Starks (#2946) rolls Intelligence:
1 2 2 3 3 3 4 5
«Plot-Page» (To: Daemon Starks) Slinger says, "No cameras that you see."
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Daemon Starks (#2946) rolls Electronics B/R + Task Pool: 3 vs TN 10 for "pop the casing.":

«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >ok, reworking with KP at TN 8: KP 1 used<
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Daemon Starks (#2946) rolls Electronics B/R + Task Pool: 3 vs TN 8 for "KP reroll":

«Plot» Daemon Starks says, "attaching sequencer R10 after the case is opened."
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Daemon Starks (#2946)'s Electronics Equipment (#694) has the Voucher Item 27 R10 Sequencer with the following information:

It is very fiddly work — this is a good lock, with multiple security measures to defeat. And then… the casing is off, exposing the interior circuitry. No camera is visible.

«OOC» Slinger says, "Roll it. TN is 8 for the unit, no mods."
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Slinger (#69) rolls 8 vs TN 10 for "Lock attempting to resist being defeated.":
2 3 3 4 4 5 5 10 = 1 Success
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Daemon Starks (#2946) rolls 10 (sequencer) vs TN 8 for "opposed test":
2 2 2 3 3 4 5 5 9 16 = 2 Successes
«OOC» Slinger says, "2 successes. There it goes. Another 30 seconds."

Nothing happens for a few long moments. And then finally, the door panel flashes green, and the lock goes *snick*, and disengages…

Nate shuffles around in front of the camera rubbing his hands together in the codl weather and moaning, "Gods dammit man, what do you mean you can't remember the code? Try it again!"

«OOC» Slinger says, "Perception roll from everyone, to me."
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Mary (#5656) rolls Intelligence (to Slinger):

Daemon Starks says "Ok, found the document with the code corporate gave me."
Daemon Starks speaks in a nasal southern drawl
«Plot-Page» (To: Mary) Slinger says, "You see something odd, just as the door unlocks. Not even sure what it is… but there is something… something as Daemon goes to unlock it. And you are suddenly /certain/ the door is trapped, somehow."
Mary hand snaps out and grabs Daemon's arm in a steel like grip. Looks gentle though. "Oh hey, boss, ya almost forgot the other passes back in the truck." She says in a New England accent. "There's a big box on 'em though, so I'll need some help gettin' 'em."
Commlink-Mary> Mary says, "Stop. Now."
Commlink-Mary> Mary says, "Trap"
Commlink-Demon> Daemon Starks says, "roger."

Nate shuffles around some more, looking thoroughly cold and pissed off for the camera, "Aww drek. You sayin' we can't go into the warm without no passes?"

Daemon Starks stops moving and nods, "Yeah, sure, I'll help ya." He chuckles, "Yeah.. we need the passes, proper procedure and all." He turns and starts moving to the van.
After putting the casing back on the keypad
Commlink-Demon> Daemon Starks says, "what type of trap?"
Commlink-Mary> Mary says, "Not sure. Something funny 'bout the door, the jam's a bit off."
«Plot-Page» (To: Mary) Slinger says, "If you had to guess… there's a tripwire on that door, on the other side. If it opens, something bad happens."
Commlink-Mary> Mary says, "Probably a trip wire"
Daemon Starks takes one last survey of the door before moving off; switching through thermal, then ultaviolet, microscoping the edges, then IR vision.
«Plot-Page» (To: Daemon Starks) Slinger says, "There. You can see it. Right at the edge, there's an indentation where the thing was attached, from the screw coming through the other side. That's what set you off — it looks too fresh.
"
Daemon Starks pages: no longer attached, looks freshly removed?

The door has an indentation where a screw was driven into it from the opposite side. Where there shouldn't be a screw. It's very fresh, with a few flakes of metal still present. Probably a tripwire, connected to… something.

Nate gets a closer look at the door while the rest pretend to get passes. He examines, finding the odd screw and frowning. He subvocalises carefully, «Since when do warehouses that are being emptied get trapped?»

«OOC» Nate says, "If he opens the door, it trips?"
«OOC» Nate says, "It pulls on it, or slackens it or something?"
«OOC» Slinger says, "It pulls on something, most likely."
Slide frowns and looks around «Somethings not right here. Shall we try another door?»
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "Good idea, let's do a slow walk around the building and examine it."

There are two other entrances. And windows, of course, but those look pretty thick and secure. There is an entrance on the side of the building, that you drove past, and the front entrance into the office area.

Nate comms while looking at the building, «Chances of an entryway on the roof you think?»

You paged Nate with 'You think you could probably defuse it by just drilling into the door. Would take some time, but if the screw falls out, no tension, no boom. On the other hand… maybe they had to have a way out.'.
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "I mean, whoever trapped the door must have left somehow, they aren't inside any longer."
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "Possible, lets check the other ground doors for traps."
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "You take the side, I'll check the office door."
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "Roger"
«OOC» Nate says, "Thermo and microvision, first checking the area for cams and such, then a close inspectino of the door, especially the doorjam."
Slide moves back down the stairs then starts moving around to the side doors, trying to avoid cameras as best he can.
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Slide (#3162) rolls 6 (Stealth Chip):
1 4 4 5 5 5

The door on the side also has a camera, one that is not moving as you approach, but does guard the door. And this one has a similar keypad and lock and scanner. And more to the point, it has the same sort of screwhole.

Nate tabs around to the office area door, checking for cameras and then finally inspecting this door.

Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "Same trap on the side"

The office area … no camera on the entrance, though there is a set of double-doors leading into a glass entry area. And there is a camera in here. The outer doors are not locked… and they are glass. You can see trough them — no trap visible.

Commlink-Bigman> Bigman chuckles "How about I just blow the door down?"
Commlink-Nate> Nate declines, "No thanks, office doors seem fine. Also, unlocked."
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "Thats just asking for trouble"

Nate presses one of the office glass doors lightly, just inquisitively impulsive. Seeing if the door moves at all.

Commlink-Bigman> Bigman says, "Yeah, hence why I laughed before I said it, I was being sarcastic people…sorry, not the time…"
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "Now, a useful mage would fly up to the roof and go in through a skylight"
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "I can do that."
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "Lets check the roof out then, no point going in any of the normal ways."
Commlink-Nate> Nate continues, "But maybe the front doors are our gift horse?
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "If I remember my history right, gift horses are booby trapped"
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "Alright, I'll check the roof."

The exterior doors into the entryway open easily. The inside doors, though, are locked.

«OOC» Slinger says, "Roughly 6 meters in the office area. 12 meters in the warehouse part."
«OOC» Nate says, "Outside wall to roof, 6 meters onto the office roof?"
«OOC» Nate wallruns up that and tries not to fall through the roof?
«OOC» Slide says, "The back and side doors are rigged with something, probably a shotgun that goes off when you open the door"
«OOC» Slide says, "Front door is just locked, but has cameras"
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >and Nate is going up to the roof? I'll jack in real quick and take a very close peak at the roof for panneling, openings, and pressure plates or laser trip wires<
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >with teh sensor 5 snooper drone<

Commlink-Bigman> Bigman says, "Guys, why would a corp put a trap like that onto doors? Is that a typical thing? I would think they would resort to more conventional means of security."
Commlink-Demon> Daemon Starks says, "something's off, of course.. i believe another team may be involved in this; be very careful and alert."
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "Nah, someone else has already been in and looted the place, left us some welcome traps."
Commlink-Demon> Daemon Starks says, "anyone know how to dissable traps?"
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "You can drill these ones out. They're really simple."
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "You cut the door around where its screwed, releases the wire and the trap wont work, but if its rigged up carefully, even releasing the wire could set off the trap"
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "From what I saw these are rigged for tension, but that's true."
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "For example, if the string is riged up to a claymore with a pressure switch, pulling or loosening the cord will detonate it"
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "Thats what I'd do, claymores are great traps"
Commlink-Bigman> Bigman says, "So, if we think another team has been in, whats to say that the loot is still in there?"
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "Why trap it if its empty"
Commlink-Demon> Daemon Starks says, "makes sense.. we just need to find a clean entrance, then dissable the trap on the other side. Believe a roof access is in orde.r"

The rooftop is… well, stripped bare. There are mounting pads where there were HVAC units and things like that. There are large gaping holes, in fact, that used to be ventilation ducts leading down into the building.

Nate holds back when it's pointed out that nthe rigger can just take a peek.

«Plot» Daemon Starks says, "thorough scanner through the sensors for abdnormal placements or possible electrical/thermal outsourced placements for trap energy"

Um… they're HVAC units. Or were. Until they were removed.

Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "See anything?"
Commlink-Demon> Daemon Starks says, "there's open holes in the roof where HVAC units used to be.. looks barren. Taking a closer inspection through the holes to see what I can find deeper in with ultraMAG"
«OOC» Nate says, "Alright in the meantime I'll try running up the office wall, preferably where there aren't any/many cameras pointing."
«OOC» Nate says, "And traceless walk, just to cut the sound of atheltically running up a wall."

Part V: Ductwork

The ductwork that was there goes downward about 2 meters, then arcs off to different parts of the building. Maybe another way in.

Commlink-Demon> Daemon Starks says, "the vents go down 2 meters then level off in different directions, possibly another way in."
Slide looks at a few of the windows, this is totally odd and they are wasting time trying to figure out how to get int this place.
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >what's the time limit now?<
«OOC» Slinger says, "About an hour and a half. You've been here for about fifteen minutes so far."
«OOC» Slinger says, "Athletics check, TN is… 6 base."
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Nate (#10554) rolls Athletics vs TN 6:
1 1 3 3 4 8 = 1 Success

Nate steps back, the roof is full of holes. Good and bad at the same time. He prepares, running up to the wall and getting some speed before jumping up onto the wall itself. Pumping his legs to get up, just about making it to the roof where he rolls over onto it to catch his breath again. Thankfully it's quiet, thanks to magic!

The top of the office area consists of somewhat run-down roofing, but otherwise it still seems all right. Pools of water from the last rainstorm. And there's another section, further up — should be easier to get up it. Especially with that ladder there.

Slide turns from his inspection of the windows to look at Nate run up to the roof, he shakes his head, and moves back to the loading dogs, avoiding cameras

Nate spends a second catching breath and then gets his nlegs back under him, stepping carefully to avoid falling through the roof, over to that ladder. Making use of such technological wonders as rungs of metal to get up to the top and checking out the nearest big hole.

Metal ductwork, leading down, Roughly square, perhaps a half-meter on a side. Trolls aren't getting in there, not at all, and an ork would be a problem. But a human, a dwarf, or an elf could if they were reasonably skinny.

Commlink-Demon> Daemon Starks says, "ok, scream if you run into trouble Nate.. lead pistol first. <chuckles>"

Nate hmms, leans closer to get a good look at the mouth of the hole, trying to see any wires or anything that might cut him up if he drops in there. Finally reaching a hand out, in a hardliner glove to check.

«OOC» Slinger says, "Roll perception to me."
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Nate (#10554) rolls Intelligence (to Slinger):
3 3 3 4 9 16
«Plot-Page» (To: Nate) Slinger says, "Actually, you're not seeing much. The cables were run in a separate conduit, and you're pretty sure there's no monowire or anything like that. So you can go in just fine… down, and it angles to the south, back toward the loading dock…"
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "Alright, I guess I'll head in then, this one looks to be going towards the loading dock… Maybe I should try to find one into the office?"
Commlink-Demon> Daemon Starks says, "keep youre senses alive."

Nate fiddles with his belt, pulling his pistol holster around to a more accessible spot under the uniform, but keeping it concealed. Then he puts his hands on either side of the hole, holding himself as he lowers in. «Here we go.» He drops down into that thing, cycling thermographic vision on every little while in a paranoid habit.

Commlink-Demon> Daemon Starks says, "i hear there's man eating spiders inside the vents."
«Plot-Page» (To: Nate) Slinger says, "The hole leads downward, and then to the south, and it's hard to move easily in the ductwork. It's filthy in here, dusty enough to trigger any sneeze reflexes you might have. The accumulated dust of years. And down that way… the tunnel branches. Straight ahead goes toward the loading docks, with the others seem to lead toward the electronics or vehicle areas."
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "I hate you."
Commlink-Demon> Daemon Starks chuckles.
Commlink-Bigman> Bigman says, "The watcher did report it was laying a lot of eggs"
Commlink-Nate> Nate sneezes, "Woops sorry. Looks like I got access to all the areAs in here. ACHOO." He snuffles as the comm cuts out.
Slide looks around nervously on the back loading dock, he turns up his cyberhearing in hopes that anything outside the building will make a noise that might alert him to it, the unexpected often happens.
Commlink-Nate> Nate snuffles back onto the comm, "At least we know nobody… ACHOO." He sniffs, "Nobody else has been through here." The comm cuts off quickly as he starts sneezing again.
Daemon Starks does a perimeter search with the aerial drone above, switching through radar/motion sensor equipment and the optical spectrums the high level sensor equipment will have. Keeping close eyes for any change of the scene.
Commlink-Bigman> Bigman says, "Hey Nate how do you feel about rats?"

Nate ignores the comm as his eyes water and his nose runs, pushing onwards through the dusty ducts towards the loading bays.

«Plot-Page» (To: Nate) Slinger says, "The vent-shift straightens out, and turns into something more tube-like, leading into the area. The floor beneath is dark, but there are vents you can see through, and you can see shapes beneath you. Might be shipping crates, palettes ready for shipping. Hard to see from this angle with the available light."
«Plot-Page» (To: Slinger) Nate says, "Anywhere looking likely for me to get out of the devil ducts?"
Commlink-Bigman> Bigman says, "There are some rats in the building too…"
«Plot-Page» (To: Nate) Slinger says, "Well, there's those vents."
You paged Nate with 'Those could probably be removed. Just some screws.'.
You paged Nate with 'Then it's just a 10-meter drop to the floor.'.
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >is there's TONS of pages going on? lol<
«Plot-Page» (To: Slinger) Nate says, "Ok, 10 meter drop, not so tasty. Nowhere gets any less than 10 meters, I'll pop a vent and drop then. Lockpicks and electronics toolkit with me."
Commlink-Nate> Nate comes back on sneezing, "I see crates… or pallets." He sneezes again as he cuts off.
«OOC» Slinger says, "Nate: roll me an athletics check. See how much you can negate damage. TN is 5. Every success reduces falling damage by 1."
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Nate (#10554) rolls Athletics vs TN 5:
1 2 2 3 4 5 = 1 Success
«OOC» Slinger says, "Then you'll need to soak M from it. At the power level… 9M. Armor counts."
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Nate (#10554) rolls Athletics - 1 vs TN 5 for "KP1/8":
1 2 3 4 4 = 0 Successes
Bigman turns to his first watcher, the 1 hr one, that he was sending and doing scouting missions. Commlink-Bigman> Bigman says, "I'm sending a watcher to watch your back on Astral Space"
«OOC» Nate says, "5M impact?"

«Auto-Judge[kn]» Nate (#10554) rolls Body - 2 vs TN 3 for "Ow. KP4":
1 3 4 = 2 Successes
«OOC» Nate says, "Well, either soaked, or L, depending on how you choose. :)"
Commlink-Nate> Nate comms, "Thanks." As the sound of a body hitting a floor ten meters down can be heard before the comm crackles off.
Slide winces and looks around towards the back of the loading docks, that must have hurt.
Commlink-Nate> Nate ooches, "Ugh. I'm in." He stands up, not terribly worse for the wear and looks around, "Shit, I need a flashlight." He peers around to try and find his bearings.
«Plot-Page» (To: Nate) Slinger says, "The interior of the place is dark, yes, with looming, massive pallettes. The place smells musty, though the air is positively pristine compared to what was in that vent. And there — there is the back door, the two rolling doors beside it."
«Plot-Page» (To: Nate) Slinger says, "And beside it, you can see it — the screw, the line leading toward the door. If pulled, the line gets pulled taut, and the other end leads to… well, that's a /lot/ of explosive."
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "Uhm… guys. Whoever rigged this wanted to be sure. I'm er… looking at a big pile of boomy attached to that door. So don't fraggin' touch it."

Nate slowly slips over to the door to examine the mechanism of the tripwire carefully.

Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "Describe to me the setup"
Slide switches chips mentally among his demo and demo b/r
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "Uh… theres a wire from the door to the bomb. It looks like when it gets pulled taut it yanks something from the bomb stuff."
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "Alright, I need to know what the of the wire that is attached to the bomb looks like, is it a switch, a pin, what?"
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "Humm, it looks like… Well it looks bad, I guess kidna like a detonator? I don't know man I've only seen this stuff in trideos!"
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "Calm down, I need you to describe it to me, the wire is attached to the door, then goes to what? is it hooked up to a screw on the bomb, a pin, a toggle switch, what?""
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "Looks like a switch that clicks."
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "Ok, is the switch in the middle, or all the way to one side?"
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "It's facing away form the door."
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "Uh, pointing away."
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "Right, but does the switch have room to move farther from the door, or is it up against the base. I'm asking if you could push the switch farther from the door."
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "Want me to try? It's dark."
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "No I dont"
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "Alright, you don't have enough light to see it right?"
You paged Nate with 'You're pretty sure you could just cute the cord, carefully, and you'd be fine. It's not taut.'.
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "I don't even have a knife with me. Someone pass a knife through the door."
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "The string isn't taut or anything, no pressure."
«OOC» Nate says, "I know Mary carries a knife. :)"
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Slide (#3162) rolls 6 (Demolitions soft) for "With a loose string, do I think he can cut the string and nothing happens?":
3 4 5 5 5 10
«OOC» Slinger says, "Yes, you guys can cut the string and nothing happens. Have tried to say that ten ways :)"
«OOC» Slide says, "Yea, but we have to icly rationalize this out :P"
«OOC» Slinger says, "Sorry. Getting a little frustrated with the minutiae we're getting bogged down in."
«OOC» Nate would cut it. Electronics kit got a snipper in? Yeah it does. Job done.
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "No wait, I've got some snips."
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "Good, cut it and we will finish opening the door."

Nate gets his snips out and grabs the string, breathes and then snips the line.

Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "Alright… I'm just holding it now."
Commlink-Bigman> Bigman says, "If this building is empty, I'm coming in…"
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "Coil it up by the bomb, no sense someone tripping over the wire when we walk in"

Nate nods to that, coiling the line carefully and then dropping it on top of the bomb.

Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "Bring some torches."
Bigman slips the hood over the ruth cloak that Deamon handed him, and stands up, getting out of the van, he looks for the team and walks over to them, he quickly slips into Astral perception and keep it.
Commlink-Bigman> Bigman says, "Guys, I'm coming up to you"

Part VI: Inside the warehouse

Once that is clear, there is nothing to keep the door opening. The bomb is armed, definitely, but the door is open. And right next to it, there is a control for the rolling door. But the wire is ripped out of it. Door will have to be raised by hand. Careful inspection, though, shows there's nothing to stop it.

Slide stands on the back loading dock, waiting for some door somewhere to open.

Nate looks around noticing the loading doors broken mechanism and glances around. «Someone with a torch go look for the stuff we need to get, look out for more tripwires. I need some help lifting this loading door up, the motor is broken.»

«OOC» Slinger says, "Door is now able to be opened."
«OOC» Slinger says, "Loading door will take two, but doable."

Slide enters the building through the door and starts looking around for the office «I'm going after the offices, gotta see if this security feed is stored onsite or somewhere else."

The offices won't be in this area. You're at the back of the building; they're at the front. You'll have several corridors to go through.

Commlink-Demon> Daemon Starks comms in, "Roger that. I'll get the rolling door up and wedge it with something. Nate, help me with the roll up door.
Slide makes his way towards the front of the building, watching for cameras, tripwires, bombs, anything dangerous, and he uses his pocket flashlight, yes he has one, this is not the first time he has been in the dark.

Nate gets down, fingering the bottom of the loading door to check for hand holds and to prepare. He gives it an experimental lift and then drops it, breathing hard. "Definately going to need help with that. Gotcha."

Daemon Starks heads over to the rolling doors, and will look around for something strong enough to wedge into the chains or rolling track to keep it open before he and Nate try to roll it up.
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Daemon Starks (#2946) has the Attribute Strength with the value '11'.
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Nate (#10554) has the Attribute Strength with the value '6'.
Bigman catches up with Deamon and speaks up "I'm behind ya Boss" he looks around watching the Astral Space himself.

The door rolls upward easily, without any hesitation at all. Despite the motor being broken, the door, at least, works. And from outside, there is actually some light that comes in — not much, but enough to vaguely see by.
There are pallettes stacked up around the area, ready for loading. Even a forklift. Plenty of items, categorized by serial numbers. A plenthora of goods, ready for transport.

«Plot-Page» (To: Slide) Slinger says, "Roll me a perception check."
Bigman chuckles "Nice…any camera's inside here?"

Nate huhs, "Well that was easy mate." He nods to Daemon, English accent poking through, "Alright, what have we here?" He turns rubbing his hands together, obviously not too worried about being stealthy anymore as he speaks normally.

There appear to be no cameras in this area.

Daemon Starks carefully studies the inside through the modified shades; switching through the spectrums of UV, IR, LowLite<tm>, Thermal.. then begins checking the palletts stacked. If satisfied there's no boobie traps set up 'Goonies' style, he'll go to the pallets and start taking inventory check.
Bigman pulls the ruth cloak off, and holds it back out to Deamon "Unless this is fire proof, I suggest you hold on to it"

Nate mmms "Think I'm gonna check on that weapons room, someone take electronics too? An' I think the J's stuff is probably in the vehicles." Nate nods and heads off towards the office area, hoping to find a way to the weapons storage area from there.

Each of them has a manifest listed. This one has electronics parts — all kinds of items. Ultrasound goggles, radios (no crypto modules), audio amplifiers…

«Plot-Page» (To: Slide) Slinger says, "Roll me a perception check."
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Slide (#3162) rolls Intelligence (to Slinger) for "Perception check":
1 1 2 3 4 4 5 9
Daemon Starks starts looking for any drone modificaitons, such as FDDM Battletac modules to attach a drone to the FDDM Battletac network system. But notes all the expensive pallets so he'll know what to load after he finds the J's items. If the items aren't listed after the quick scan here, next step is heading off carefully for the Electronics store house. COMM» "Biggie.. go check the vehicle storage, find out what's back there." «
«Plot-Page» (To: Slide) Slinger says, "You head out into the corridor. It looks clear — dark out here, but thermo helps to at least see the outlines of walls. The corridor leads along, with not even the exit signs lit. The building might not even have power except for the maglocks, which often have their own power source. Down the hallway, there is a door across the hall, and a door along a corridor to the left. The rest of the corridor continues along, heading toward what appears to be the office."
«OOC» Slinger says, "Incidentally, guys, I do NOT have an inventory list drawn up. This means that anything you find may or may not be adjusted for value later — might be nonfunctional or otherwise non-usable."
«OOC» Nate says, "S'coo."
Daemon Starks takes the Ruthcloak and puts it on.

The next pallette has more items — including some vehicle parts. They are in boxes, neatly. Drone brains — pilot rating 2, a good number of those. Compressors for various things — but not the particular kind Slinger needs. Amphibious adaptation kit for the Suburban, though — that could be useful…

Slide starts moving slowly down the hall, carefully scanning with his pocket flashlight and low light vision. He frowns as there is no apparent electricity «<There seems to be no power, could be why the cameras arent moving. I can keep looking for the security setup to make sure, but there may be more traps. Any advice?»

When you get to the fifth pallette, that's where you see it. The compressor module — in fact, the full kit for the pressurized compartment — for the suburban. Even the model numbers match. The seventh pallette has what you need for the other items. You are just checking that one when Daemon gets a sudden call on his phone…
Hisako.

Daemon Starks heads for the electronics storage, going slowly down the halls and checking the area carefully.
Daemon Starks checks his phone quickly and takes the incoming from Hisako.

Commlink-Demon> Daemon Starks says, "biggie, check the seventh pallet, it's what we need, take the fork lift and move it to the van's back entry."
«Plot-Page» (To: Daemon Starks) Slinger says, "Hisako… actually sounds weak. "I dunno what the hell happened. I just got… /dumped/. Hard. Like the whole host just disappeared from the matrix, all of a sudden. Something just happened, big time…"
«OOC» Slinger says, "Perception roll, everybody."
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Daemon Starks (#2946) rolls Intelligence:

«Auto-Judge[kn]» Daemon Starks (#2946) rolls 4 (sensor passive) for "GMC Bulldog Sensor R4":
2 3 4 11
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Nate (#10554) rolls Intelligence:
2 2 4 4 7 11
«Plot-Page» (To: Slide) Slinger says, "From the left corridor, you hear a sudden, *PLEEP*. There is a dim red glow now coming from there. And if you check it out — you will find another of those massive sets of explosives — and now there is a display there. Counting down. It currently shows 00:09:56. And is counting down."
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "9 Minutes before we all go boom, Grab the drek and move now!"
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >ok, i'm still in the first storage area off the docks then, since Iwas checking the 7th pallet :)<
«Plot-Page» (To: Nate) Slinger says, "From over by the door, you hear a *PLEEP*. Fairly quiet, fairly subtle. That set of explosives. Where the detonator is… now reads 00:09:54. And is counting down, once per second."
Slide appraoches the bomb and starts to examine it carefully, he has some time, he uses his flashlight to get a good look at the device.
Commlink-Demon> Daemon Starks says, "biggie, get back to the docks quick~! Nate, grab something expensive, and let's roll!"
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "Going to see if I have a chance to disarm, but get moving anyhow"
Commlink-Bigman> Bigman says, "I can get Slide more light…"

«Plot-Page» (To: Slide) Slinger says, "This is a professionally-set device. And it's going to be very difficult to disarm. But potentially doable. TN is going to be 8 on a demolitions or electronics test, base time of 1 minute."
Commlink-Demon> Daemon Starks says, "give him some light, i'll take care of the equipment."
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Slide (#3162) rolls 6 (Demolitions Soft) vs TN 8 for "Trying to Defuse the bomb!":
1 2 2 5 8 10 = 2 Successes
Commlink-Nate> Nate spins on his heel, "Oh shit!" He grabs the nearest box to him that looks somewaht expensive and starts jogging back to the crowd.
Bigman begins to retrace his steps trying to find his way back to the docks, «Lead me Tex, I gotta find you»

Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "Busy…..*muttering*"
«OOC» Slinger says, "Each pallet, by the way, is basically 20 CF and weighs about 300 kg."
Daemon Starks jumps up into the forklift, pushing the ignition button and gearing up the shifters to align the forks for the pallets bottom openings. This isn't his first rodeo, it's just like riding a bike as he smoothly swivels the forks under and raises it, moving smoothly towards the Van's backside that's open and ready for cargo.
You paged Slide with '30 seconds, and you'll have it.'.
Slide pulls out his electronics kit and goes to work on the bomb, he looks it carefully over, taking about 25 seconds to make a good decision, then reaches out and cuts a wire.
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "Disarmed….."

The one near Nate now reads: 00:09:22

«Plot-Page» (To: Daemon Starks) Slinger says, "Roll me Sensors for your vehicles."
Bigman gets to the loading docks, almost at a run as he sees the light of the roll up door. As Slide comes over the commlink he exhales and stops. "Drek man…"
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >I can fit two pallets.. i'll take the drone brains and the equipment Slinger needs, then use the remaining CF of 10 to fit loose items of most expensive in electronics.<
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "All clear I guess, watch out people, this place is rigged like crazy."
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "Uh what? This one's still tickin'!"
Commlink-Bigman> Bigman says, "You got to be fragging me"
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Daemon Starks (#2946) rolls 5 (sensors passive) (to Slinger):
2 2 3 3 5
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "Drek, get a move on, there could be ten of these things out here"
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Daemon Starks (#2946) rolls 4 (Sensors Passive) (to Slinger):
1 2 5 11
Bigman breaths deep and looks for another forklift.
Slide starts running towards the back room "Where is it!" he hollars out.

Part VII: Unexpected Guests

«Plot-Page» (To: Daemon Starks) Slinger says, "Outside, a rather large vehicle hits the front gate — just blasting through it. But it doesn't look corporate. No, instead, it looks much more regional. In fact, it's painted in Red Serpents colors. And it's heading for that side door…"

Nate heads back to the group, "Frag disarming em, load 2 pallets and lets get going. This shit looks more than deadly mate!"

Slide says "We got 10 minutes, might as well try while your loading up…""
00:08:57
Commlink-Demon> Daemon Starks says, "we've got incoming company, they're not friendly.. gangers here to boost!"
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "Fuck me mate. I'll try and scare 'em off a bit."
Bigman looks over as Slide comes through. "Oh drek…"
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "Frag it all, alright, now I'm pissed, screw the bombs, lets just get two pallets and go, I'll watch the bomb timer."

Nate heads off out towards the door to peer outside and check on gangers.

Commlink-Bigman> Bigman says, "Okay, I can help with the gangers."
«Plot-Page» (To: Nate) Slinger says, "From here, there is no sign of gangers. They aren't at the back of the building. But there are two other entrances…"
Slide goes looking for the bomb Nate found, so he can watch the timer and keep everyone advised
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "No sign at the back, where they at?"

Nate keeps most of himself inside the building, peering around the mostly closed door.

The bomb nate found was right near the door. Aimed inward. This place is one giant booby-trap. And right now, it reads 00:08:49

Commlink-Demon> Daemon Starks says, "biggie.. stop that van."
Commlink-Bigman> Bigman says, "What Van where?"
Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "8:40 and counting down"
Commlink-Demon> Daemon Starks says, "slamming through the entrance and heading to the side doors."
«Plot-Page» (To: Daemon Starks) Slinger says, "The 5th has one, the 7th has the other. Listed on the manifest. But the second item isn't visible from outside, which means it might be buried."
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "Side doors, come on then!"
Commlink-Bigman> Bigman says, "North, South, East, West? Your eye's can help more then I know where they are"
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >aren't you back in the loading dock area?<
«OOC» Slinger says, "The side door we will call the 'east' side. Dock is south side. Office is north side."
Commlink-Demon> Daemon Starks says, "South side.."

Nate slips his pistol out from his uniform and then shakes his head, "One sec, getting my rifle." He heads to the van and nips inside quick to snatch the bag with his rifle, pulling it out and carrying that before heading to peer at the side doors.

«OOC» Bigman says, "Okay, that's more what I was trying to figure out"
Commlink-Demon> Daemon Starks says, "East Side!"
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >sorry lol<
Slide draws his two pistols and continues to watch the timer, this is an important job.
Daemon Starks reverses and goes for the next pallet with the most expensive equipment on it.
«Plot-Page» (To: Nate) Slinger says, "To get to the side doors, you will have to go out into the corridor, and make your way along that side passage, which may be trapped…"
«OOC» Slide says, "Damn, now I need that mathspu so I Can keep the timer in my head"
«Plot-Page» (To: Slinger) Nate says, "I'd rather walk around the outside of the building, easier."
You paged Daemon Starks with 'Which pallet did you load first. And which are you loading second?'.
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Daemon Starks (#2946) rolls Electronics Background + Task Pool: 3 for "knowledge on electronics parts":
1 2 3 4 4 10
Bigman runs out of the docks, and begins the building to the east side, peering around the corner to find the where the gangers are coming from
Daemon Starks pages: 7th pallet first, the one with the items you required?
«Plot-Page» (To: Nate) Slinger says, "All right. It's most of the way around the outside of the building. You're looking at… 100 meters or so to cover to get to the corner and get line of sight."
You paged Daemon Starks with 'One item Slinger wanted is on Pallet 5, the other is on Pallet 7.'.
You paged Daemon Starks with 'But the item on Pallet 5 is actually visible — you can get at it pretty quickly.'.
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Nate (#10554) rolls Athletics vs TN 4 for "Sprint Base move speed 18m.":

«OOC» Nate says, "27m per turn sprinting, silently."
Daemon Starks pages: no, 5th pallette..
«OOC» Slinger says, "Slide, Bigman, what're you doing?"
Long distance to Daemon Starks: Slinger is confused. Which one did you load first?
«OOC» Slide says, "I'm watching the timer until someone tells me they have that part covered, drew my weapons, but thats it"
You paged Daemon Starks with 'You can have loaded one pallet by now.'.
«OOC» Slide says, "Anyone have a mathspu?"
Daemon Starks pages: which pallet has more expensive equip compacted together
from viewing the manifests?
Daemon Starks pages: loaded 5, and will load 7
«OOC» Bigman is on the south side of the building, moving to the east,
trying to peer around the corner to find where the gangers are coming from.
Daemon Starks pages: then hand pick what I can until we have 3 min left
You paged Daemon Starks with 'All right. Looks like 4 has the most expensive,
based on a quick lead.'.
Daemon Starks pages: take 4 completely, then hand pick the item Slinger needed
off 7
«OOC» Slinger says, "Okay. What's your move, Bigman? You have 100 meters to cover to get to the corner of the building."
You paged Daemon Starks with 'Okay. Loading 4 will take about 30 seconds. Then picking the item will take another 30-40 seconds.'.

Nate gets his rifle sorted, already loaded with cheap ExEx ammo. He slings it and starts sprinting towards the corner where south side meats east side, his feet slamming down in his boots but making no sound.

Bigman decends the stairs from the loading dock on the outside of the building and begins to run towards the east side of the building. Nate passing him long before either get to the east side.
«Plot-Page» (To: Nate and Bigman) Slinger says, "You two run like the wind, and round the corner of the building — and take cover behind it. And you can see the vehicle, idling, with gangers clustered up around the door. And one of them is crouched down, working. "Got it!" he yells out…"
Commlink-Nate> Nate says, "Oh shit guys, incoming blast! The gangers opened the do…"
Commlink-Bigman> Bigman says, "They…Know…we are…here…but don't know where…we are…yet…unless…camera's…"
«Plot-Page» (To: Nate) Slinger says, "They haven't opened it… yet…"

Nate jumps back around the corner pre-emptively.

You paged Nate with 'Back around… away from the gangers, or toward them?'.
Daemon Starks drives the forklift with some urgency now, sliding the forks under the next expensive pallette and swings it around to drop off into the cargo van. Backdriving, he stops the vehicle, turning it off and running to grab the second item the J needed for the job to be complete, then looks around for anything he can grab by hand off the other pallettes that look expensive enough to have fenced. «COMM»"Bigman, come back, let's roll!"
Slide dives for cover, because hey, he would link all the bombs together…
«Plot-Page» (To: Daemon Starks) Slinger says, "Just as you are looking for more expensive items, you get that call on the comm. Do you dive into the van, or do you continue to search?"
Commlink-Bigman> Bigman says, "Kinda……..busy….."
Bigman dives behind the south side of the building, and looks for some sort of cover

Daemon Starks pages: diving into the van, not sticking around as the world explodes

Nate just backs away back towards the van, "Frag that Bigwhateveryournameis, let's split." Getting behind the big building for cover.

Daemon Starks hears that last part from Bigman and from Nate.. then dives into the van after a bursted sprint!
Bigman says "How many did you see? And how far away where they?"
«OOC» Slinger says, "Diving for cover… where?"

«OOC» Nate says, "Oh, Bigman will be last into the van, unless he gets passenger."
Slide turns and moves with alot of speed, that of a trained runner, his feet pound and his hands pump at his sides, though still holding onto his pistols of course, he turns quickly, using a pallet to almost bounce of off as he starts running out the back door and diving into the van….
«Plot-Page» (To: Bigman and Nate) Slinger says, "And what you are using for cover…"

Nate turns away from fighting gangers for no reason, having called out to Bigman and replied with just a shake of his head he starts running back to the van. «Let's bug out.» Retreating form the corner and heading back around the south side of the building towards the van to completely cut off view from the gangers.

«Plot-Page» (To: Bigman and Nate) Slinger says, "As a note, you guys are roughly 100 meters from the van…"
«Plot-Page» (To: Slinger and Bigman) Nate says, "I'm using the warehouse at the mo."

Bigman is hiding on the south side of the south east corner, behind a large dumpster that he was able to find for cover. He is holding for the moment, keeping the dumbster behind him and the warehouse, and the gangers that are shooting to him.
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Daemon Starks (#2946) rolls Car + 1 (NOS) vs TN 4 (to Slinger) for "acceleration roll. ACCEL 6 (jesus, I forgot all the backed up modifications on my waiting list, engine upgrades being one for the van.":

«OOC» Bigman says, "No biggie :P Incase you haven't noticed, Biggie isn't exactly 'in shape' so him running like this, he couldn't pull it off with out a heart attack :P"

Nobody is watching the gangers. But while a few of them fire off some rounds — another one figures the best place to take cover is inside the building. He reaches out to wrench open the door.
And he doesn't even have time to realize what a mistake that is.
The line from the door to the bomb goes taut. *CLICK*. And instantaneously, the detonator goes off. The explosion is enormous, enough to shoot the door back outward, flying like a projectile. The gangers don't even have a chance, as the door decapitates one, and crushes two more between the flying door and their vehicle.
Slide leaps into the van and pulls the doors shut, just as the cascade begins. The explosion of the door was minor compared to what happens when all the other explosives spread throughout the building go off, all at once. The loading-dock area is immediately engulfed in fire and debris as the explosives in there go off in unison. Debris strikes the back of the van, hitting the doors hard — but not hard enough to penetrate the tough armor.
For Nate and Bigman, though, the building is clearly doomed — and very soon, their cover will become debris itself.

Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "Someone didnt want to share thier toys"
«OOC» Daemon Starks nods. :)

Nate veers away from the building as the explosives take it all out, "Oh holy drek!" He yells out as he starts running out at a more diagonal angle away from the building, but still towards the van.

Accelerates as people start diving in, heading in the direction of Biggie so he doesn't have to sprint so far, hoping the speed and the distance is just right for him to jump into the moving vehicle then high tale it out of there!
Bigman turns and begins to run to van, trying to pull his fat ass as far as he can get away from explosion.

Nate pulls his not so fat ass away and seeing the van driving away quits that and instead swerves around further away from the collapsing and exploding building. "Frag… frag… frag." He chants under his breath, not very helpful for running long periods, but he's tense.

«OOC» Slinger says, "Okay. Building goes /off/."
«OOC» Slinger says, "Basically, you guys are clear of the blast itself, but not the shrapnel. So this is going to basically be a force 18 blast."

Whether it's pure adrenaline or from just risk of life and limb, Bigman halls ass away from the building and towards the van. His speed picks up and his breaths keep getting deeper and deeper, hauling towards the van.

«OOC» Slinger says, "However, it falls off by 1 for every 2 meters. You started roughly 3 meters from the building. That puts Bigman at 24 meters away (6D damage, please)… and Nate will be looking at 3D. Impact does NOT count, though."
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >luckily, the vehicle armor will double for anything other than regular weaponry (impact, explosive, etc), halving the power rating halved before anyone inside has to soak it<

Daemon Starks accelerates towards biggies area where he was last known once the blast is done, "Slide.. get ready to open the door and help biggie in if he's not 'whole'.. and pick up any missing body parts, let's get the frag out of here; I think i saw nate running towards the gate, he'll be easy to swoop up!" He concentrates on handling the vehicle and pushing as much juice out of the speed as possible to retrieve Bigman.

Slide grabs onto something in the back of the van as it accelerates, and winces at the huge explosion, he moves up towards the door, trying to climb around the loot to get to the door to let other people in.

Nate gets showered with shrapnel, the blocks smacking him in the back and legs and one bonking off his head. "Oh fraggin' ow! This drek hurts!" He stumbles slightly as the bits knock him around and he almost flops onto the ground. "Owww."

Bigman is hauling ass towards the Van, but is caught up in the large blast. Shapnel flies at Bigman from the explosion behind him, he stumbles, gets caught up in the blast and is thrown through the air, he hits the grounds, gets roll around and lands face down.

Daemon Starks hauls from the pick up point for Bigman to the pick up point for Nate, leaving no man behind is the motto of the day.. accept when the blast was coming that is; we're not all heroes! Once Nate is dragged into the van, Starks stomps on the gas, twisting another hit of NOS to fuel the engine with juiciness so sweet, it snaps your head back!! *VROOOZOOOOOOOOOM!!!*

There's a Serpentmobile in the way towards gate, it's toasted, flaming, and a few dead bodies strewed inside as it was blasted up in the air amd landed from where it was a few seconds ago. "HOLD ON BOYS!" He increases speed, knowing the armor can take the pummeling.. *BOOM!* He rams the vehicle, parts flying everywhere, bodies in motion.. heads and legs and arms rolling off the windshield as the wipers kick in.. The van rattles and shakes, but the impact is absorbed by the armored massive GMC cargo van's front grill paneling, and he hits the open hole the Serpents left for him to exit.. how nice of them! always thinking of others.

«Plot-Page» (To: Daemon Starks) Slinger says, "And just as you pull out of the gate, your cellphone rings. It's Slinger…"

Part VIII: The Loot

Daemon Starks hits the hands free on the pocsec to answer the incoming call from Slinger, "Sup doc."
Calm as can be, explosions in the background, van speeding away from a rammed serpentmobile and straight into the warrens night air.

Nate gets rattled around into the van, dropping his rifle back onto its sling and grabbing onto the pallet of stuff. Then he gets even more rattled by the NOS acceleration. finally he gets tossed forwards to the front of the damn van when Starks smashes into the dead vehicle. "Ow fuckin' ow, fuckin ow. I'm gonna be bruised mate."

Bigman rolls over in the back of the van, breathing deeply "Oh drek…" he grabs his arm and a rather large gash in the back of it as the van crash through the serpentmobile.

Slinger's talking quickly. "I just got word from a contact. Don't go in there. It's a fraggin' trap. Apparently Ess-Kay set it up as bait for another corp, hopin' to get one of their teams killed. The place is wired, set to blow sky high if anybody goes in there…"

Daemon Starks blinks, heading into some back roads through the warehouse district of the west central Warrens and taking a few alleys into feeders, avoiding the main thorofairs. "Interesting.. I think we'll stay clear then mate.. but you know what? I just got a call from my Fix.. he said he could hook you up with the equipment you're looking for.. real cheap paisano." He chuckles.

Nate groans in the back of the van, "Fuck me mate that was some explosion eh?"

Daemon Starks waves his hand at Nate in a motion for silence.

Bigman lets Slide work some First Aid of him. "So what the hell is is in the crates we got then"

Slinger chuckles. "Really? How much, you think?" Slinger asks casually, sounding relieved. "Was afraid you guys went in there. I mean… hang on." There's the sound of something in the background. "Damn. /Somebody/ went in there," Slinger chuckles.

Nate frowns at Starks waving hand and turns back to Bigman, "Sup what?"

Daemon Starks grunts, shifting lanes and trying to keep the ride smooth for the wounded in the back, turning up the radio so the background talking isn't heard on the phone by Slinger, "Yeah, somebody beat us to it Mr. J, but the Fix says you can have the parts at a third of the price, street cost."

Bigman says "Open the crate…find out what the hell is in them…""

Nate grunts at Bigman, retrieving a Cougar blade from the gear in the van. "Alright… lessee." He takes a box at the top of the pallet, carefully slitting it open for a soft box or cutting the pallet apart if it's a hard crate.

Slinger thinks about that. "So… what, about eighteen-hundred for the adaptation, about sixteen kay for the compressor and other stuff?" he asks, thinking about that for a moment. "Fair enough. Yeah, I'll pay that," the youth agrees. "Tell you what. Call it twenty kay, the extra for brokering the deal. How soon can he get it to me?"

Bigman holds one of his wounds, keeping pressure on it as Slide works on Bigman's other wounds.

Daemon Starks speaks over the music into the pocsec, taking it up now that cruising is easier and taking it off handsfree. "Nah paisan, since the guys here have worked for you before, seems you steer straight, though the info was a bit bad, it wasn't all a loss. I got the parts you wanted from the S-K warehouse, but it WAS a trap.. and we could'a lost our heads back there.. gangers were in on the tip off as well; so you're inside boy has other leaky holes." He pauses, "I'm not gonna rip you off like that, but i'll tax you for the run gone wild to help the medicals on the boys in the back. 12k for your parts should cover the damages, sound fair chummer?" He has some decency.. deep down in the pits, burried under the sex fetishes with young teenaged girls, cocaine habits, and the tons of blood on his hands.

Daemon Starks says "but i DID see some parts on the surface that looked like it"

Slinger considers that for just a moment. "Huh. Yeah, that's more'n fair. I take back most of what I've said about you, Joey," Slinger adds, with a teasing grin. "Seriously. Mighty good of you. All right. Lemme know when you can drop it off. Nobody was hurt too bad, were they? I'll mojo-heal anybody who needs it."

Actually, what Nate finds is a brand new 2000-LXZ pocsec, still in the factory shrink-wrap.

Daemon Starks grins, a small chuckle.. "Yeah, that'll help a bit.. got some bruisers back there, and then some open wounds.. I think it was a pretty nasty hit Biggie took, Nate looks alright.. but he's got some wounds to heal. Me and Mr. Slide didnt' take any damages. Meet in the same place I take it?"

Nate grins, "Well blow me down mate. Brand new pocsec for old Hutch." He shows it to Bigman with a grin, "Fraggin' yes mate! We did it!"

"Sure thing," Slinger agrees. "We'll make the exchange. And I figure you got contacts to fence the loot."

Bigman says "I have a request. Have him teach me some healing""

Daemon Starks says "I know a guy <chuckles> Alright, be there in a few chummer."
«OOC» Nate says, "Alright, limit ourselves to anything Slinger? Like we got a pallet of electronics, so no weapons, but plenty of radios and pocsecs."
«OOC» Daemon Starks says, >and possible electronic equipment for drones, SK is known for vehicle manufacturing<
Daemon Starks drives up to the meeting spot, the same place as before, backing up to the entrance at the back so there's no problems of prying eyes from the street up front. He makes the call, "where here.." Then shuts off the phone and steps out, going to the back and opening the doors, pulling out a cigarette and lighting up.

Slinger is inside when the others arrive, already with several unfiltered cancer sticks crushed out in the ashtray beside him. "Cool. Who's hurt?" he asks, glancing among those who return.

Nate gets out when the doors open and shakes his arms and legs out, heading in. "Nah I'm fine, just got battered by some chunks of rock."

Slinger eyes Bigman's wounds. "That's gotta sting," the youth remarks, padding over. He places a hand on the other male's shoulder, giving it a light pat. "There y'go. All right. Anybody else?"

Bigman grins as his wounds start healing up "You'll have to teach me that trick uh?"

Nate chuckles, "Well there's this pile of gangers down that way." He turns and points, "They might want some?"

Slinger chuckles. "You can pick up a formula pretty cheap," he remarks to Bigman. "Usually not worth the time to teach 'em, when formulae are so damned cheap."

Bigman chuckles "Yes, but perhaps there is some other trick or two you can teach me then." he sits up a bit and slides out of the van.

Slinger chuckles. "Maybe. Whatcha wanna learn?" he asks, and lights up a fresh cancer stick. "How to give yourself lung cancer? I'm good at that one," he teases.

«OOC» Slinger says, "All right. Just for giggles, let's also do fencing rolls and stuff. This is small enough that we shouldn't have trouble with bankroll."
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Slinger (#69) rolls 2 (to no one) for "Bankroll for fence.":

Nate actually listens in seriously now, "Actually I need someone to teach me a bit about this stuff… er apparently I got a bit of magic I didn't know about see…" He's uncomfortable talking about it for some reason.

Bigman looks over at Nate and raises a brow "A bit of magic?"
Slinger glances to Nate… and looks… vaguely through the other man…

«Auto-Judge[kn]» Bigman (#9958) rolls Intelligence for "Astral Perception":
1 2 3 4 7 8
«Auto-Judge[kn]» Nate (#10554) has the Information Aura with the value 'This young human male's aura is the brightly coloured aura of an awakened individual, completely unstained by foreign objects in the body and showing general good fitness and a healthy lifestyle. City living makes it's presence known in some slight comtaminants but otherwise clear. His emotions fluctuate from deeply introspective and self critical to calm and focused.' (only to Slinger).

Slinger drags slowly on his cigarette, and leans against the wall of the rather bare apartment. "We could talk, yeah. You're… kind of uncertain. It shows in your aura. Learn to embrace it, and I think it'll work better for you," he murmurs. "But there's a limit to what I can teach. Your magic is a lot different than mine," he admits.

Bigman nods "I'm not too familiar with it either…It's interesting for sure…." he shakes his head "I guess it would be usefull for you to find an mentor."

Nate scratches his head, "Well… I only found out about it like… 3 months ago. Anything about magic is what I'm after really because I don't know much at all…"

Bigman nods "Wow…kinda cool…fresh blood…have you learned much about astral space yet? Can you perceive or project? I'm curious about it now too…"

Slinger chuckles. "The thing about magic is… it's personal. Deeply so. The mind cannot truly understand magic. It's not one of our usual senses… so it gets… mapped onto them. Subtle, tricky thing, is mojo. Everything — formulae, chants, chi, centering, all those things are ways for your mind to deal with the magic. It's a matter of finding what works for you.
"It's a Gift, though," Slinger points out. "It's rare and beautiful. Use it for good."

Nate rubs his nose and then scratches the back of his head, "Uh, I guess. I been learning recently and I uh… guess I got a bit stronger. But I'm still pretty new to the whole thing." He glances to Bigman, "Uh, astral space? Is that like, spiritland?"

Slinger laughs. "Spiritland. I like that," the youth grins, shaking his head. "Yeah, that's a good term. It's… it's letting magic be your sight. It is the shadow-world, the realm of the spirits. And it's a weird-ass place."

Slide remains quiet, and sits or stands out of the way as everyone talks, he listens of course, but makes no comment.

Bigman shakes his head and is about to open his mouth, but lets Slinger speak instead. "Yeah..what he said..I like it, it's truthful there…it's hard to lie to someone at there face, it's…it's what people are really thinking"

Nate widens his eyes a bit at that, "Sounds kinda freaky. Not sure about that at all. It's bad enough when I end up seeing in heatvision without thinking about it."

Nate says "Or zooming in on something during normal conversations, that's a bit off putting too."
Daemon Starks comes in from the outside cold and lights up a small black cigarette that smells of herbs and good kind bud quality marijuanna. He takes a seat and looks to biggie, Slide, Nate, and Slinger; "I miss anythin?" He looks over the equipment inside, "Looks like a few parts in those pallettes I can use."
Bigman chuckles "Yeah well, no matter what your magic shows as, one thing is true, it's an unique learning experience"
