GM: Posh
Players: Feather, Krieg, Lost, Posh
Synopsis: Posh, Feather, Lost, and Krieg are hired by Major Shelley to expose a weakness in a second-line repair depot base in the California Protectorate. The team manages to break into the base, access a connection via microwave link for the CCSS system, and cause havoc. Posh gets smacked into the base with a rifle butt, and the team was very nearly reported on and found out, but some quick thinking and distractions saved the day before Krieg could get in and assume direct control!
Date: 10/11/2075
Posh has sent a message around to the group, letting Lost, Krieg, and Feather know that she's got a job from one 'Major Shelley' "It looks like we might be up to some shenanigans on a base overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. How lovely," she sends. "I'll be around to pick you all up from the Woodlands. Feather is on her bike; I'll be sending the mission briefing to her helmet, and she can meet us at the T-bird," she says. "I'm told that this one is more about stealth than the last has been, at least for part of it," she says. "So that means /no/ weapons this time, apparently."
«I am still conducting some equipment updates, what limitations does this weaponless directive impose. No defensive weaponry at all?» Krieg messages back from whever it is she may be working at the time. «I will be available at the typical pick-up point in ten minutes»
"It is not that, it is that we will have to pass through customs. We are to be provided cover identities; I see no reason why Senshi could not be a personal assistance drone. We will not be able to bring our own ammunition, except for things we could get through weapon detectors. We'll be able to acquire normal ammunition on site, perhaps, and maybe personal weapons, but this will be magic and hand to hand, mostly, I'd wager," she says. The cash payment is quite a bit more than the prior jobs, so…I'd like to hear her out," she says.
« I don't have any weapons to bring anyway. » Lost replies over text. She gathers her camo fullsuit, Ares combat helmet, and Savior medkit in a bag large enough to hold them all. Throwing on her SecureTech jacket, she shoulders the bag and heads down to the Woodlands parking garage. « I'm ready. Guess it couldn't hurt to hear what your contact has to say. See ya soon. »
Posh datajack-drives the van into the garage/basement of the Woodland Apartments, the side door sliding open for Lost, Senshi, and Krieg to enter. Posh gives a smile to each in turn, giving another packet of gummis. "For you two," she says, offering it specifically for Senshi to receive.
"Anyway," she says. "Let's begin, I suppose. Shelley just pinged me." The nav console flickers a bit and then reveals the taut blonde woman with the cigar and the vaguely militaristic suit seated there.
"Good to see you all. This one is going to need some very rare assets," she says. "In short, you are to sneak to this base in a small community outside San Francisco," she says. "You'll be taking private transport - the Thunderbird with a spoofed transponder, to there. The goal is to reach this small military vehicle service facility…and take over its CCSS system, and cause as much mayhem as possible with it, creating an extraction zone for the Thunderbird to get you away. We'll provide heavy duty ECM cover for your escape; once you're on the Bird, you'll be safe until you're out of the area. You'll have to pass customs and the like, but we've got a suggested cover that we'll be able to use: you, Posh, and you, Lost, are doctors with a humanitarian organization. You, Senshi will have a designation as a casualty retrieval unit," she says. "Feather, as Posh has so kindly provided me, will pose as your Cantonese translator," she says.
"You'll likely be subjected to a weapon detection scan, but if you pass that, there should be little reason to suspect your story."
Posh nods. "Lost and I certainly have the medical knowledge to back that up, and Feather certainly has the Cantonese," she says, thoughfully. "And Senshi and Krieg as a casualty recovery team might work," she says. "So, it seems like we have to get in, get through customs on a humanitarian visa, acquire a vehicle in town undetected, get up to the facility secretly, break into the CCSS system, and cause mayhem and await for extraction?" she asks. "And just how much are you offering for all this?"
Shelley cracks a smile. "Thirty-five grand each," she says. "But you'll have support and direction all along the way, we're covering your ass on the exfil, and we can arrange for a rock solid cover that would pass any check: all that would be on is for you to sell it," she says. "All that's up to you folks is to steal a vehicle, sneak past the guards, and activate the CCSS," she says. "And make sure the alarm isn't raised before you get in."
Krieg seems to do her best to be shielded from this Shelley character durring the discussion. She continues to adjust and fidget with Senshi as the activities are discussed, at times making sure he is between her and the Johnson's image. «Krieg»<As we do not have specifications on the target system, it will take additional time and consideration once engaged.>
Lost boards the vehicle, deposits her gear where there's space, flops into a seat and straps in. When the call begins, she turns her attention to the console in the van, listening intently as Shelley makes her briefing. She nods in agreement with Posh on the topic of the humanitarian cover. "That should work. Shouldn't be too hard to find a vehicle, I would guess…" Pausing briefly, she shrugs before continuing, "With our cover, we might even be able to rent one, but… I doubt that's going to be an option. But this sounds doable…" Turning her attention to the screen, she tilts her head, "Do you have any information regarding magical opposition?"
"If we are taking a thunderbird into the objective area, I'm assuming there's no room for even a small vehicle, then?" Feather asks matter-of-factly, neither seeming particularly encouraged or discouraged by this revelation.
"It would take much greater resources for us to get permission for you to have a vehicle," replies Shelley to Feather."
Posh nods to Lost. "That's a good idea, actually," she says. "I suppose we could get to the edge of town, and then disable the gridguide," she says, with a nod. "That would likely work, actually. A simple rental, and then we take it off the rails," she says, with a grin.

Shelley looks to each of you in turn. "Of course you'll be entitled to anything you retrieve from personnel after you have your fun in the CCSS system," she says. "We also have maps from sensor sweeps of the facility," she says, showing the large vehicle hangars, living facilities, and the security office where the CCSS rigger is located, as well as the points of the many defense guns and AA missiles connected to the CCSS system. It's a pretty heavy duty piece, it seems. "We won't be able to provide you with real time sensor support, but we'll be able to provide you with detailed maps from last night. There are several heavy vehicles and their crews there, apparently, but almost all of them are in these barracks here. Success will be on the redirection of the AA missiles to eliminate them: three tanks, here, here, and here. There should easily be sufficient missile resources to do so," she says. "But they simply don't expect to have counter-CCSS resources. They're unlikely to have magical security here. With enough warm bodies, though, physically assaulting the place would be out of the question - a few folks would get lucky," she says. "Taking over the security system's the way to win this one."
"So, we just gotta find a way to weasel our way past most of their security and into their security office. Take out their rigger, take control of the CCSS, blow some stuff up, wreak enough havoc to cause confusion and disable most of their AA so the T-Bird can swoop in and spirit us away." Lost summarizes with a grin, "Sounds like it could be fun, if everything goes well." Looking to Posh, she continues, "So, what do you think, try and get as close as possible on the street, ditch our vehicle, then… I dunno, try and sneak our way into the security office through the vents or something?"

«Plot» Posh says, "The map shows a perimeter fence patrolled by pairs of casually equipped soldiers, tanks and a flyer hangar and launch pad, the main building for control of the SAM and security systems and radar. There's a lot of work that goes along here, but the actual full time security staff is low. This is not an area expecting to have aerial attack."
Krieg continues her activities and listens to Lost and the others discuss. She notes the Gummies that Senshi seems to have retreived from Posh earlier, then continues her adjusting his disguise. «Krieg»<If the system is fully enabled it is unlikely we will easily sneak into any venting or otherwise enter without circumventing sensor systems detection methods. If we are able to cause multiple disturbances, or access the system through a jack-point it is possible.>
"To be clear: the goal of this mission is not to cause casualties," replies Shelley. "It is to make the occupying forces invest heavily in upgrades to such systems at critical installations in the future. That will be very expensive," she explains. "Destruction of the three vehicles will be sufficient. This is not a facility effectively hardened against covert attack. There is no magical security and you will likely be able to create opportunities to install a link," she says. "I'd recommend getting directly to one of the defensive emplacements, and installing a datatap right there."
Shelley shrugs at Lost. "I can't imagine why you'd need to gain physical access to their CCSS rigger, unless you wished to plunder his or her cyberdeck or something," she says.
Lost hmms softly, opening her package of gummies and staring at them intently for a moment. She counts out one of each color in one hand, and then tastes one at a time, gauging which color corresponds to which flavor and likely ranking which she likes best at the same time. Turning her attention back to the meeting, she nods at the map, "Well, it looks like the best place to do that might be the emplacement nearest to the hangar." Raising her free hand, she points, "We could cut a hole in the perimeter fence, but if that's likely to raise an alarm, it's probably best to go over it instead." Glancing at Shelley on the display, the dark-haired elf shrugs, "If we're trying to mess around with their security systems, wouldn't it be better to have their rigger out of the picture if possible?" Again she shrugs, "But I don't know, that's not really my area of expertise."
Posh turns to Lost. "I think they can like…engage in almost mental combat," she says. "Sort of like a…I don't know. Almost like wrestling. Or like those forms of combat, like the Spanish duel where they both have a knife and their wrists are tied together," she says. "The winner gets to control the system. The loser gets a mind-wallop that knocks them into next week."
Shelley nods. "In any case, it should be easy to acquire all the datacable you need in San Francisco," she says. "Without attracting too much attention. You can likely just go to a store, but your IDs will work for things like that," she says. "I suppose you could run one, or escort your rigger right to the emplacement," she says.
A closer look at the fence shows that it's pretty simple, chain link topped with concertina. It could be cut through, but that would slow progress, and might make spotting by a patrol more likely.
Krieg watches the exchange and pies up quietly. "While it is brutal and mentally tramatic, the engagement between security riggers does not leave signifigant physical damage unless the engagement continues into the realm of determination and self-preservation to prevent access to the riggers physical form itself. It is possible to experience severe direct cerebral damage in these cases." She goes back to her work. "Extreame caution should be taken to avoid detection early, as it will make the eventual engagement of the system exponentially difficult."
"The patrols are hardly front line guys, they're guarding a repair and SAM facility. Hopefully they'll divert front line guys to sites like this in the future," says Shelley. "In any case, while they have Battletac integration, they are operating purely with hand-held units and are likely to be unable to effectively engage hand to hand," she says. "If you are patient and make sure to engage them quickly, it seems unlikely that you are to be discovered," she says. "There are thermographic cameras, but with the lack of magical defenses, it seems defeating this system will be hardly impossible. There's certainly a risk when you pass through customs, and you have to get through the defense fence, past the patrols, and able to install a datatap into the system, but, well, that's why you're getting offered thirty-five k each," she says, with a grin.
«Plot» Posh says, "Feather, if you want to totally stealth around customs, and bring your weapon case, you'll have to contend with 1 roll of 10 collective perception dice to try to spot you."
"It's always in our best interest to avoid detection." Lost replies, turning back to grin at Krieg, "Either way, I get it. The less reasons we give their rigger to be suspicious, the easier it'll be to take control of their security system." Looking to Posh, she continues, "So, we rent a vehicle, get some data cable, levitate over the perimeter fence, put in the datatap… and then what? I guess if their own security system starts engaging them from within the base, no one will really have the time or inclination to notice the random strand of datacable going over the fence." Pursing her lips to the side, she seems to be considering how events might play out in her head before nodding again, looking to the others gathered in the van first before looking back to the screen, "As near as I can figure, this is doable. I'm in."
Posh nods. "It sure sounds easier to me once you look at the map," she says. "At first, you know, it's all vehicles and SAMS, and you get a little nervous," she says. "But it seems like we won't be directly engaging them so much. We're really just being tasked to evade second line security, and CCSS detection, in order to implant the datatap. Krieg, what are the likely types of sensors would you say for this type for installation?" she asks. "We have visual on the thermographic cameras; what's usually layered with that?"
Posh confirms to Feather, the location of the Thunderbird's liftoff, the van beginning to take the brisk, short drone-piloted ride to the hangar in the outskirts where Major Shelley's transport awaits. It doesn't take too long to arrive. She opens her smuggling compartment on the way, loading up with rebound rounds, which like gel and her cyberguns are indetectable by MAD. "All right," she says, to the others. "I'm ready to pass a weapon detector and a visual," she says. "Everyone else clean?" she asks. "Sorry about your armor, I'm afraid, Lost, but we rather have to go without it."
"If we're traveling through the city of San Fran," Posh says, "We'll need to be in street gear. "We're landing in an out of the way airport; we can, I suppose, just take a local shuttle to a vehicle rental place."
Lost sighs, "Alright. Guess the SecureTech will have to be enough. Or I'll just have to try real hard not to get shot." She finishes with a smirk, taking her helmet and camo suit out of her bag and leaving it on the van. Luckily, the Savior kit has it's own smaller bag that it resides inside. This is slung over her shoulder, since it should mesh quite well with their humanitarian aid cover. "I'm ready to go, let's do this."
Krieg finishes her adjustments to Senshi's disguise and then returns to focus on the requested information by Posh. "The fence is likely enabled for intrusion detection, breaks in the fence will trigger an alert. The exterior itself is likely covered in optical sensor fields, and close range passive acoustic detection near entranceeways. Access points will often have basic tamper alarms to them. The facility is unlikely protected with a full sensor suite and internal pressure sensing floors. The majority of security will be focused on mid range detection of personnel. Magnometric sensors will identify vehicles on the paved approuches for door access to the facility. While it's not a direct security element it is usefull for it. Commonly an air asset will watch these areas, common rotordrones or ferret patrol systems. None are difficult to evade with time." She pauses to take a breath more than anything else.
Krieg wiggles her nose for a momment and seems to take a better look at the overlays of the facility. "If we do not intend to directly combat them such a set-up is easier to infiltrate. But it is possible our time-frame will be limited as remote support will likely rapidly engage us once we are detected. So our plan must be focused on causes as much disturbance as possible in as short a time as possible."
"Without the support of magical security, is there any way to obfuscate the sensors from detecting an approach on foot, short of thermal dampening?" she asks. "The facility's defenses are far more geared to guarding against infantry assault or air attack than infiltration," she explains. "I suppose the correct camo pattern at night would be effective in addition to invisibility," she says. "Well, the thing is, remote support is less likely to be an issue once we have control of the system temporarily and the Thunderbird is on its way. Our operation provides the cover needed: literally, we will be temporarily siezing the main AA defense in this immediate location, and we have heavy offsite ECM cover to ensure an escape, as Shelley says," it seems. "What detection countermeasures do you recommend for us to use to approach undetected? Using line of sight of sensor systems and the walls, invisibility, anything else?" she asks.
"If we do not swiftly disable the connection between the facility and the outside, remote support will not have to be physical, it can be virtual and re-engage me after my take-over attempts." Krieg notes, "Slow purposefull movement with thermal obfuscation will pose the greatest chance of success. If magical support is able to create a disconnect between the visual sensors capabilities it will allow us to better distact the security system. Animals such as common birds and woodland herbavores are able to draw individual sesnors attention away from locations."
Posh nods. "So," she says. "It sounds like we have a somewhat risky approach, but initial detection is likely to route a security response onto us instead of going to immediate full alert, because local animal activity is common enough that it would be taxing otherwise," she says. "I wonder if you'd be able to use the system's missiles to sever the link rather…mechanically," she says. "After all, it's a facility not with a ground link, but connected via these cables. It has its own power generator, but if you were to file a missile at this tower," she says, pointing on the map. "Then you might be able to keep things dark for a while. Anyway," she says. "With the threat of defensive guns, you'll likely be able to keep the soldiers pinned down in their barracks. We may have to defend against the response from remaining patrollers, but that seems quite feasible," she says.
"That is an exceptional proposal, disabling their transmission/reception link initially will force the encounter in our favor. Attempting to limit the engagement to the compound itself and expending their defensive munitions will cause signifigant disturbance." Krieg nods to this idea.
Posh nods as she thinks she hears some foosteps, rolling her eyes as she imagines a ruthed up Feather sneaking on with her ruthed up weapons case. "I see," she says, as she disembarks the van and prepares to board the Thunderbird. "Oh, lab coats, this time," she says, with a chuckle. "But why would we wear them on a plane? Still, I suppose it helps for our luggage." She starts to go through her gear, readying herself to leave anything questionable in her gear from her van…let's see…a doctor might need a tranq patch, but no wrist grapple gun…savior medkit of course…and so on.
There's plenty of room for Lost and Senshi as well. "So, when we arrive," she says. "Shuttle to rent an Americar?"

Posh takes the time to help devise the team's humanitarian medical disguises, feeling only the vaguest twinge of 'guilt' as she does so.
The journey to San Fran is rather boring. There's a whole lot of hustle and bustle at the international airport, of course, though security and customs is less tight at the private wing of the airport, given that passenger counts are much smaller, the customs operators of the nominal Cal Free state still guard against the smuggling in of unnecessary metas. They seem a little extra suspicious of the elves as they approach. Posh approaches first, passing through the metal scannner and weapons detector, before presenting a filled-out card to the agent.
"You'll have to submit to a personal search, /miss,/" he says. Can't just wave the entitled keeb through after all. "Would you like to request a woman customs agent?" he asks, Posh sensing a trap.
"No," replies Posh, sticking out her arms. "Go ahead," she says, lifting her chin just a bit.

Posh submits to the indignity of the search for several long moments, but as she is carrying nothing untoward, she is soon freed, where she heads over to wait. The security agent beckons Lost to come up next.
Lost has her customs card filled out to the T as well, looking rather more doctorly with a white coat over her SecureTech Jacket, and a pair of black glasses with the frames removed to complete the look. With a bit of makeup, and her hair tied back in a rather severe bun, she hardly looks like herself. Of course, this is entirely the point. After being beckoned by the agent, she calmly walks through the scanner.

Lost bears the indignation of the search with only minimal grumbling. In fact, when the agent is done, she can't help but smirk at him, "Careful, you start grabbing folks a little more closely than you are now, you're gonna have to start taking them to dinner and a movie first." She chuckles to herself at her own joke, sweeping on past the checkpoint without much concern, though she stays in sight of both Posh and Krieg.
«Plot» Krieg says, " Using her Pocsec as a display device she lists off specifications and information that seem related and plausible to the security. Her Medicine R8 is used to draw from within her standard application set-up as a medical overlay."
The man's eyes start to glaze and he just nods. "All right, all right," he says, quickly losing interest. "I see, I see. You're clear," he says. He stamps all three forms and allows the three to pick up their travel bags.
From there it's a quick shuttle ride to the rental car place, where it is easy for Nurse Tammi Menkewicz to rent an Americar, metahuman model, datajack capable, so Senshi can sit comfortably.
Posh is happy to offer to drive, unless Krieg insists, so any last preparations can be made on the hilly drive through the San Francisco streets. Posh figures it might be good to cover her ears with a scarf - there's no reason to get any extra attention while driving through.
San Francisco is a bustling city - after all, Saito's been bringing in boatloads of cash and many people are profiting quite well off the conflict. There hasn't been any particular fighting - it's just that the takeover has been relatively hostile. The vast majority of military assets are posted on the outskirts of the city. However, there is evidence of the continuing propaganda war everywhere: posters of happy citizens going to work in new Japanacorp jobs under Protectorate banners, the slogan, ‘Saito: He Made the Cable Cars Run Again' emblazoned all over the place.
Posh would have trouble using the controls, but she instead sits on her bag and drives via datajack. Shegives a smile as she directs the vehicle to the nearest gas station to the facility: it's there she'll pretend to refill the winshield wiper fluid while disabling the gridguide transponder. "I don't know, what do you think of all this, Lost?" she asks. “I mean, is this really an invasion? Saito seems to have a lot of local support.” She comes to a stop, allowing Feather to hop in and finally switch off her ruthi
"I think she's quiet enough to avoid getting seen," Posh says. "Krieg and Senshi, are you two okay together in the vehicle, then, or do you want Feather to guard you while Lost and I infiltrate?" she asks. "Feather might help us get the upper hand with her hammerhead arrows if we have to take someone out quietly," she says.
The Americar twists and purrs through the hilly streets of San Francisco, headed towards the outskirts.
Lost just shrugs in response, "I don't know. I'm honestly not sure what's worse, corporations masquerading as nation-states, or the governments of more 'traditional' nation-states themselves. And with the propaganda war going on, it's really hard to tell what's best for the area." As the topic of conversation changes, however, she nods, grinning, "Oh yeah. It'll be nice to know Feather is there running overwatch. But the less contact we make with security, the better. Even if these aren't frontline guys, we want to make as little noise as possible until Krieg's into the CCSS. After that, I'm sure we'll see some real fireworks."
Krieg quietly mentions from the back of the vehicle as she retreives and adjusts a datatap from the medical gear, having been attached to the basic kit in disguise. "I beleive the sensor system will be able to detect Senshi if in LOS, just as anyone else. Remaining in reserve with me is best. I will need someone to place this device within the security system itself on a service point or directly on a device." She scoots the datatap up to the arm rest area of the front seat.
«Plot» Posh says, "Right now, we're all in a rented Americar, having passed customs in."
«Plot» Posh says, "You snuck your weapon case through customs, nobody else brought weapons in."
Posh nods to Krieg. "Inded," she says. "The sensors are likely to have the most trouble with Feather," she says. "I can wear my hoodie and jeans under my coat, that'll give me some considerable protection against thermal detection." She grins. "Lost, if you were to remain invisible, I suppose, then that would mean that somewhat covers all three of us," she says, with a grin.
Feather wasn't quite in the mood to pass through customs. The team had briefly considered bringing her into the mission unarmed, but unlike the others on this job, her skillset was rather narrow. No magic or social prowess or technical expertise with her. She's a warrior, or spoken in an uglier but perhaps plainer way, a killer. A quiet one too. And so she was given a different role: she was to be the team's wildcard. Someone who could project a few moments of surgical violence if the mission called for it.
She's already geared up and ready to go when the thunderbird hits the tarmac. She's out first; she already has her plan. Airports have one nice feature, from an assassin's perspective: they tend to be open air. Off-the-shelf satellite maps gave her a pretty good idea of a workable path toward the least secured fence, and from there, it was just guessing sensor locations and dodging guard patrols. It takes her time. A long period of silence passes, the woman out of touch with the group for a long time.
They're past customs and out of the airport before she calls. It's not much. A data message with her location. A rendezous point is agreed upon, and before long, the almost-invisible woman is falling in behind the others. "Did you get through without incident?" she asks.

"Sure." Lost replies with a nod, "I won't be able to do much else while sustaining the spell, but an invisibility spell should do the trick… unless they have ultrasound sensors. Or radar." She shrugs a bit, leaning back in her seat, "Anyway, I don't really know what to think. I… haven't really been following the situation here all that closely. But… it does seem like both sides are deeply embroiled in a propaganda war along with, you know, the conventional one they're fighting. So it's really hard to tell what's going on, especially as an outside observer." As Feather is picked up, Lost nods in response, "Yup, more or less. The custom agent was a little handsy, but… what can you do?"
"It is likely they do, but I beleive the stealth capabilities with proper avoidance methods and slow approuch at ground level will mitigate the majority of concerns." Krieg mentions as she retreives the laser cauterizer from her medical kit (Tool Laser). "I do not beleive the agents were extreamly hands-on with me. Was their a form of individualized treatment due to the manner of exterior covering and demenor?" she notes and continues her work.
Posh nods to Feather with a grin. "We did," she says. "My rebound rounds are safely up. I don't want them to get even angrier at this op than they're likely to be. This isn't in the mission parameters, but let's try to keep this to zero deaths unless absolutely necessary," Posh says. "That's why I'm quite glad you could bring your hammerheads, I must say," she says, lifting an eyebrow, and then smirking.
Eventually the Americar makes it to the gas station, and Posh hops out, heading to buy a jug of windshield washer fluid. "Hey Krieg, mind opening her up?" she asks, returning quickly to hopefully find things open. She hands the windshield washer jug to Krieg, pretending to just hold open the hood while she extends her minitool's spike from her pinky and begins to…interface.
Soon the gridguide system is defeated for now, and fortunately more road travel is not part of the plan for more than a bit or so, as there's a dirt road pull off just a few hundred meters away, which is good, because a lack of gridguide for long would likely draw police attention.
With everything readied up, Posh gets back in the driver's seat, awaits everyone else, and heads to the last of the hills that could provide cover from the facility.
There's a dirt road up to one of the big cliff overlooking houses in the area. The base is built from prefab construction materials, commonly used by military engineers; it's placed on part of what used to be the grounds surrounding a golf course. There's still significant forest and wildlife, which might help to cover the approach on the sensors. There's more than two hundred meters of open ground to cover between the treeline and the fence, however, it's fortunately shrubby enough to provide a little bit of obstruction until the very end.

Posh takes the microwave links from Krieg with a smile, taking three, and leaving one with her. She heads first to the top of the hill, finding a reasonably clear spot that can get a reasonable view of both the car and the facility. She sets up the link: probably another will need to be established atop the inner wall, and then the third placed right at the weapon emplacement.
She then turns and gives a thumbs up over by the car: it's time to move from shrub to shrub, as stealthily as possible, to not catch the attention of the patrols!

As everyone gets closer and closer, moving quickly, closing the distance, a hundred meters, fifty, it's very hard to see the scurrying, approaching figures from far away. It seems like a couple of the guards get a glimpse of something, but not a clear look. Krieg, unaware of the immediate action for the momment, goes about her planned actions.
Both of the two guards suddenly drop, and as Posh had managed to hide from the other patrol, nobody is looking in their direction when it happens. Posh glances around, and nods back to Lost.
The invisibility spell doesn't seem to be helping Lost very much. So, she scrambles for a good hiding place as the guards start looking around. Once she finds one, she drops the invisibility spell and shifts magical gears, taking a deep breath as she focuses her aura, extending her left hand in a vague gesture toward the patrolling guards. A crackling blue ball of magical energy bursts forth from her outstretched hand, hurtling into the two guards, who rather promptly tumble to the ground, unconscious. Exhaling sharply, wipes her brow with the back of her other hand, a bead of sweat having formed. « Looks like they're down. » She transmits, « Sounds like a plan, but unfortunately… guess we're gonna have to move even quicker now. And one of them, at least. There may be more. »
Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « We can't have long. The CCSS rigger's likely to notice these two guys aren't moving for long. Let's see if we can get their comms gear and give Krieg a leg up »
Commlink-Krieg> Krieg sends, « You already disabled the patrol?..understood. »
When Posh, Lost, and Feather get up to the two dropped guards, about thirty meters from the still open gate and right at the last edge of the bushes, they find that they are equipped in simple camouflage suits, equiped with battletac receiver units, handheld.

Posh starts to retrieve the two radios of the two guards. It seems like the guards are simply equipped, SCK 100 SMGs as weapons with smartgoggles. Posh leaves those, grabbing the two radios and battletac receiver units, and waves over to Lost, offering her one. "We'll have enemy comms if Krieg can break into them," she whispers. It seems like everyone who is approaching manages to make it to the base of the wall without further incident, but people cannot have long before something amiss is discovered. Feather is able to easily clear the wall and post one of the microwave links on its corner, but that exposes her to the clearest sensor line of sight as she does so.

Posh and Lost can see the patrol headed back to the corner. It is likely that something is possibly amiss now, with multiple signatures:
«Plot» Posh says, "Krieg, want to do rolls to break into comms?"
Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « Krieg, I've got ahold of two of their radios. Any way that can be of extra assistance to you? »
Posh checks the battletac receiver unit. It seems like the battletac network is being used by the rigger to direct the patrols. The area where Feather has placed the microwave link seems to be highlighted with a blinking yellow target.
Lost accepts the offered radio and spends a moment fiddling with it so she can set it on her person in a handsfree set up. With that accomplished, she nods to Posh and follows behind the other elf. « I dunno about you, but from their movements… I'm starting to get the sense they think something is amiss. We need to move things up on the timetable as much as possible. Luckily… once we get into their CCSS, it should be pretty smooth sailing from there. »
Commlink-Krieg> Krieg sends, « I will need to physically access the radios to decrypt them quickly. Otherwise it will require transmission tests and decryption. They are likely encrypted, but you can link them with an optic line to your personal unit and allow us to send receive across their broadcast via that link. »
Posh nods. "All right, I'm thinking maybe Feather and I hide behind the corner of this wall and ambush them up close. That should clear out the patrols, but that's going to give the rigger a real idea that something is wrong. It would be better if we could break in fast, somehow, and convince them something is up. Since we have the units from patrol 1, if we could get into their comms we could give the all clear, and pretend, at least to the sensors, that's who we are,» she comms, with a nod. «Then again, Feather and I taking out patrol 2 would make it look like they're just inspecting here. Then if we radio in an all clear successfully, that might help out KRieg once we have the link setup.»
And so she and Feather set up by the corner, ready to ambush those approaching…
With Krieg's advice, Posh nods, and using a cable, does exactly that.
«Plot» Posh says, "R4 taccomm."
Commlink-Krieg> Krieg sends, « please take care to not accidently transmit across their frequencies. We do not have control, only access. They will be able to track you via the devices. »

Feather remains on her perch, invisible and vigilant. Posh gets into an ugly melee with the approaching guards, and here the assassins fingers draw and nock two arrows with lightning speed, releasing both with the full power of her compound bow. The first staggers her target, though it doesn't quite knock him down. The second drops the already injured opponent.
Posh reels backwards from the good clocking she got from the rifle butt, but as she shakes her head to clear it, she sees both of the soldiers unconscious before her. She looks down, seeing the two nametags, both in Japanese. She curses a bit, comming on the team's comm «All right. Kreig. Going to hook into this guard's comm. Woman, early thirties. Last name Katsumori» Posh looks down at the guard, and nods, reaching to pick up the helmet and put it on. She then changes the camo pattern of her cloak to match the pattern worn by the guards. "This should help keep us safe at least at first glance," she says to Lost.
That leaves Lost free to blast the remaining guard with another bolt of magical energy. She keeps her eyes on both of them, just in case one, the other, or both decide to stubbornly get up. After a beat, she nods, « Alright, looks like we're clear. » Looking to Posh, she nods, « Alright. As always, I'll follow your lead, but it seems like we're making pretty good progress, so far. »

Commlink-Krieg> Krieg sends, « I will try, but I will have to wait to hear who they call. Do you have a basic gender, build, of the patrol individuals for me to attempt to emulate.? »

A siren begins to blare, and Posh curses. She yanks out the tap that she'd been trying to install and picks up the microwave link at her feet. «Feather. Make sure to grab the link on the corner you installed. We're heading back to the car»
There's the faint sound of booted footsteps as all the lights in the base switch on brightly and The sound of shouting in Japanese can be heard.
Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « I couldn't think of anything »
Krieg can no doubt make it up if she has sensors, or if she overhears it. "Alarm! Alarm! People in fireteams! Prepare to conduct perimeter sweep!"
«Plot» Posh says, "Over the comms there are the rapid instructions to prepare five-man teams and sweep the perimeter. Apparently the long amount of time with all four comm units together made someone suspicious. "Find out what's going on with the fence patrols!""
Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « I suppose we might as well shut down the battletac units and their comms. »
Posh turns off the two she is carrying, and the nods at Lost to turn off the other two. "We can't much time," she says, pulling back away from the corner of the wall, bringing the microwave with her as she flees from the camera.
She flicks back on one of the comm units at Krieg's command.
Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « Lost, head back to the truck. Feather, give me a hand. I'll try to climb the wall and maybe they'll find them. Perhaps I'll be able to tap quicker into another divice. I need some Kami, I was too slow on that one. »

Posh scrambles against the wall, Feather likely having to strain a bit, but the latter is preternaturally strong and helps Posh heft her nearly eighty kilos over the wall, and she lands heavily just as one of the two sweep patrols enters that area. There's more shouting.

It seems like they're out to the west now, with no way to see Feather and Posh protected by the wall. But FEather and Posh would have a tough time sneaking by them…

The security rigger seems rather harmed as Krieg 'pushes' against him, and one could see blood trickling from his mouth in the security office as he bites his tongue, but he manages to rally manfully, putting all of his will into a concentrated attack against the invading rigger!
Meanwhile, the tank hit by Feather skyrockets in a fountain, the anti shrapnel coating preventing it from causing significant harm but causing everyone in the vicinity to diver for cover! Both sweep patrols suddenly sprint back to the gate, figuring that they'd been led back there. "We're under attack!" can be heard over the comms.

The enemy rigger slumps in his chair. Krieg now assumes direct control of the CCSS system. She can feel the three missile launchers and defense gun posts that she has, and in that heartbeat remaining, now can do as she wishes.
Kriegs methods are more brutal than in the real world, holding back very little as she attempts to overhwlem her opponenet with extreame force. Her presence within the system far larger than her small size would speculate.

Commlink-Krieg> Krieg sends, « We are in. »
The confusion at the vehicle depot seems to reach epic levels as suddenly four missiles streak from the defensive emplacements to different targets, popping the turrets off of the tanks and throwing shrapnel into the crowd. «And we are out» Posh says. «Removing datatap» She does so and grabs the microwave link at her feet as soon as Krieg gives her the clearance to do so, trying to hop back over the gate to trundle back to the Americar.
Feather reaches behind herself, pressing a compartment on her weapon case that she doesn't usually engage. She carries eight different types of munitions. Not a lot of some of them. No, some are meant for special occasions. Incendiary arrows, for example. A cruel weapon to use against soft targets, but in the right circumstances, a bit of heat or a bit of a boom is a good diversion. She was waiting for moments like this, maybe. She aims long, looking for the softest spot on the tank. And then she releases the arrow, and it streaks across the base toward the tank. It penetrates the arrow, igniting the fuel within, a gout of flame erupting in multiple directions, even if the casualties are low.
That was just the warm-up act, though. Now the real show begins. Over comms, she speaks to the team. "Posh, if this is a military unit, they may use ultrasound to counter our visibility penalties. Engage your white noise generator to cover our exit. Lost, if you have something flashy use it. Any covering attacks will be appreciated. But your priority should be concealing your position."
Slipping her bow into her left hand, she reaches behind herself again, quickdrawing her MGL-6, six mini-grenades in a pistol sized package. Her default? Thermal smoke. She starts spraying canisters around the base, starting near the tank, slowly working her way closer to her own location. "Posh, stay close to me during our exit. I can guide us out with my senses."

Confusion reigns as four missiles smack into their targets, detonating and throwing shrapnel from the vehicles to cause wounds and mild casualties, shouts and now random firing into the woods as discipline is lost and people fire at ghosts. Posh nods to Feather, disconnecting the cheap radio from the battletac receiver and stuffing it into her bac along with the microwave. «Ditch the radio, but these receiver units seem useful» she comms, moving to follow Feather through the nearly totally blinding thermal smoke, glad that her flare compensation at least prevents her from being dizzied.
Having spent the last few moments crouched low and listening to the sounds of various pieces of military hardware exploding, Lost speaks over the commline, « Ditching the comms. » She transmits, leaving the two taccom units on the ground behind her, but keeps the receivers they were connected to. « Unfortunately, I don't really have anything flashy that's gonna help us in this situation, but… well, if any guards are on your heels as you guys make your way out, I'll do my damnedest to slow them down. How long until the T-bird gets here? »
The comms - everyone's comms suddenly blink out.
Everyone has only static.
Feather guides herself and Posh out of the chaos via a mix of her adept Motion Sense powers, her natural low-light vision, her GPS, and a healthy dose of battletac data on her AR HUD. That map is proving useful enough. Once they're clear enough to speak, she leans in toward Posh, speaking a little louder. "Is that the electronic warfare cover we were promised? Or is this the work of our enemies?"
A faint whooshing sound can be heard in the distance as the runners run to their Americar and the nearby clearing. It gets louder and louder. There's still panic and shouts and confusion at the base, autofiring into the woods and now up into the air. There's some ineffectual firing at the Thunderbird that blasts its way into view, ignoring the neutered base totally. It might be vulnerable to the silent missile emplacements, but with the ECM cover and with everything down, she grins. "I think so," she says, fear turning to relief.
"Looks like Major Shelley had us under surveillance," Posh says to Lost as she and Feather catch up with her. "Everyone keep one of those neat map units, I think those might come in handy," she says, handing one of the ones she'd picked up to Krieg, also returning the microwave links.
The thunderbird's hatch opens up. "Well," she says. "I think I'm ready for a ride home and a nice frosty margarita. Shall we bid goodbye to the Bay?"
Krieg is just at the America with Senshi, seeming to wait for everyone to show up. She oddly has her hands over her ears, seeming to be blocking out some loud noise. She accepts the device and follows along after the others.
"Oh, awesome." Lost breathes to Posh, looking quite relieved as the other two elves come into view, the sudden static on the commline having spooked her. "That sounds wiz, in any case." She continues on the topic of margaritas before hauling herself up into the t-bird and into a seat. "That was looking a little dicey for a second there… good thing Major Shelley had eyes on us."
Krieg glances straight up for a few momments thinking about what Lost said, she gathers her things and follows Senshi into the awaiting transport.
Feather sets herself inside, taking a moment to slide off her weapon case, heavy boots kicked up as she straps herself into the seat to prepare for the hop out of here.
"Krieg. Are you alright?" she asks quietly once she gets settled. "Did the jamming interfere with your network?"
"I sent her a message as soon as Krieg told me to pull the tap," explains Posh. "Major Shelley had eyes on us - me!"
Posh looks with concern as well at the young rigger, but she figures that inside the aircraft the interference will not be so prounounced, as the Thunderbird lifts off and hopes to carry everyone to safety. "Well. That was tense, but I don't think any of us got shot with a lethal weapon at least, though I'm sure we would have if found out. Many of them, in fact," she says. "Still, that's an improvement on the last one. I think."
