The Town of Castle Rock

Castle Rock is a tragedy of geography and politics. Too close to Denver to be desirable by the wealthy, but too far away to be accessible to to the lower classes, it has simply withered away since the Treaty of Denver. The buildings are largely abandoned, boarded up or collapsed in on themselves due to neglect.

It is an irony that, were there more services and greater access to employment, that the Castle Rock area may have fared much worse and settled in to a secondary warrens-like area. But there are only two irrefutable laws in Denver; Food costs money and even the dregs of society need to eat.

Castle Rock - The RagDoll

The interior of the RagDoll is somewhat roudy and dim. A dyed-in-the-Wool Urban Brawl fanatics bar, the RagDoll is named after the technique of dragging an opposing player behind a motorcycle. Music usually pours from the speakers bolted to the ceiling, though on Game-Nights its all Brawl, all the time. The bar is a long stainless steel surface that runs the entire back wall, serviced by a lead Bartender and two or three barbacks. Doors to the restrooms are adjacent, to the left of the bar. On the right a small door leads to the staircase down (labeled 'Special Parties'), while another leads to the Roof.

The rest of the room is littered with small or big tables, most of them bolted to the floor and made out of steel with a clear plastic coating. A pair of special tables stand out, clearly raised and reinforced for trolls, with heavier steel chairs around them. Along the right wall of the raucous barroom there are 4 booths, each on a raised platform, capable of holding a large party each. A curtain can be drawn to give some privacy to the booths. The other wall holds a massive trid screen that is always playing a Brawl Game, a brawl biopic, or some other such program.

The RagDoll - Private Room

This room might best be described as serviceable. The place has been made for secure meetings or even maybe a small party or card game. Nothing fancy is here, nothing that would stand out or be too fussy. Instead, a large table dominates the room with a faux wood top and thick legs constructed out of burnished chrome pipes, not unlike those you might find on a chopper. Six to eight chairs sit around the table, depending on the client and needs, each with a thick pad for comfort.

The dark brown walls are covered in Harley and Brawl memorabilia, with the centerpiece being a trophy from the 2049 Championship games. A trideo screen sits opposite the entryway, allowing those here to watch the game or use it for display purposes. The room is thickly insulated and soundproof, allowing a measure of privacy from the upstairs. The light in the room comes from a number of lights inset into the ceiling which can be adjusted by a switch on the wall.

Knox walks in through the downstairs entrance, a few candles keeping te D-Sector bar alight.

Knox through various means has acquired the delivery routes and convoy information on several industrial generators being rushed to the Denver area. The heist itself would be a stretch so instead he's decided to sell of the information. Calling upon his newly acquired assistant Levon, Knox has asked the young human to arrange a meeting with several gangs that opperate in the Denver Metroplex. The RogDoll, a bar far outside of each gangs territory was selected as the meetingplace. With most of the city without, the less populated area of Castle Rock seemed ideal, and the gangs Levon contacted are known for the ability to move around.

All three of the gangs Levon earmarked have earmarked and made contact with appear, and while the initial face to face conversations with Levon were cool at best, each has sent a pair of members as agreed. The Ragdoll is lit from inside with candles and safety, Levon having paid off the owner for use of the bar while the power is out. Several dozen bottles of beer are in snow filled buckets keeping chill. The six gang members arrived wary of eachother but not so much that they refused the beer. Three remain upstairs watching eachother and the door to make sure this isn't an ambush, the other three gangers, one from each gang. Now sit downstairs at the table.

Two trolls, Crewpit from the Demo Boyz and Gallop from the Horsemen sit slouched over, eyeing eachother and downing beers, a human that goes by Prior represents the Saints, he's nursing a beer.

Levon nods to Knox as he arrives, "Gentlemen, thank you all for coming. If you need anything just call, I'll leave you to your conversation to see to those upstairs."

Knox , dressed a bit down to fit in, stands and greets each 'gang ambassador', "I want to thank each of you for coming, I promise what I have to offer is worth both the trip and the bad beer."

The gangers glance at their beers, give a little shrug, the two trolls aren't shy about drinking more even if it isn't the best brew in town. "So what is is you've got?" Prior asks.

Knox sits down and lookts to Prior, then each individual gang rep. He pulls out a cigarette package, Renraku 'Ol Samurai's, and lights one with a chrome zippo. "Well,", he says between taking a long drag, "A friend of mine, helped me get my hands on some hot paydata. And I do mean hot. Any or all three of you could want this. Thing is, I'm looking to recoup…..get back my money and make some on top…..maybe be bale to get in touch with you if I need to in the future. You scan?", he leans forward, "I'm talking about the specs and routes for three incoming industrial generators and their convoy strength, security. You name it."

«OOC» Levon says, "We'll use 'finding a fence' rules to determine if any of the three are interested. We'll consider this base TN 4 +3 for hot info so your TN is 7. Roll individually for each ganger."

The two trolls give it a moment of consideration, then shake their heads. "Nah, we gots enough doing boosting bikes with gridguide down." Crewpit says. Gallop nods, "Yeah, with no power and no security, it's like taking candy." There's a pregnant pause as Prior waits for Gallop to finish the quote but the troll seems quite content to leave it that way. Prior blinks then looks to Knox, "I can see some value in that…what are you asking for it?"

Knox leans back, puff puff n his cigarette, "35,000 and an open line if I ned to get in touch…..or vice versa."

Prior steeples his fingers over the beer sitting on the table before him, looking at Knox across the tips of his fingers, "That's a might much for some info…especially info that could just be rumor."

Knox shakes his head, "Neg on that. This is concrete paydata, downloaded off the company's servers via satlink. Console cowboy with the right touch slid past th IC with the right programs at the right nanosecond. I'm not making much off this…..trust me."

The trolls are keeping an ear on the coversation but seem to just bethere to make sure they haven't made a drastic mistake while they're downing their beers.

===================> Word on the Street About Knox (#4448) <===================
Knox? Oh, yeah. What I've heard is that he's to some extent dependable, slightly polite, just a little hard-working and slightly friendly. But I also heard that he's just a little cruel. I mean, he's had some definite practice. But overall, he's a decent sort. That's all I know.

Prior nods slowly, "I'll accept that you think the data is good, and your rep is that you're dependable and hard-working, but also that you've got a mean streak, and we're not exactly your people. What sort of assurances do I have that you're not selling me good data that leads to a payout bigger than we can collect…there are a lot of people going to be interested in generators." Seems the Saints rep as wheeler's and dealers is well deserved.

Knox leans back, "Assurances?". Knox thinks for a bit, "No one else has this information either in general or any specifics." He puffs a circle of blue grey smoke. "If word comes back that this was bad information, that you got nothing for it, I'd be willing to offer my services free of charge, save for expenses, should you need a favor in the future. But I doubt that will be needed. If I had the numbers, firepower, and balls to go after these generators I'd never have contacted any of you in the first place."

Prior considers, "And what sort of numbers and firepower would getting this prize take?"

Knox nods, "I'm all about over preperations…..I'd say eight to ten people. SMG's or long rifles, I'm sure the convoy has plans if they are attacked by a small group, beter to swarm them and if you don't have anyone capable of driving a rig don't kill the drivers." He lowers his voice, "But with the routes and specifics, you'll know exactly /when/ and /where/ to hit them. You have home turf advantage plus the element of surprise."

Prior considers it, "Ten prime members per truck, that's 30 people out on the road at one time, when all hell has broken loose already." Prior shakes his head, "That's not much of a deal when you're looking at a genny that's worth what…25k?"

Knox shakes his head, "Look how you want to throw it together, that'sup to you. Maybe you go halves, go co-op and split it with another gang. Like this-", he motions around the room, "Peaceful like, put the beefs aside. 35kay isn't much if you look at the big picture. Warrens is tearin' itself apart between horsemen and the tir lewyn, the power outages…..Saints could gain a whole hell a lot of favors if done right. I'm just looking to get by."

«OOC» Levon says, "Interesting pitch, give me an etiquette TN 7 to see if you can get the trolls to provide muscle."
«OOC» Levon says, "Actually, make that TN 5"
«Auto-Judge[]» Knox (#4448) rolls Etiquette vs TN 5:
1 2 3 9 11 = 2 Successes
«OOC» Knox says, "yes! finally good roll"

The two trolls perk up a bit when Knox lays out that idea, "You wanna hire road muscle, Saint?" Crewpit manages to spit out first, "I'll put ten bikes at your side for 2k a piece for the day." Gallop was still swallowing and scowls at Crewpit then counters with a slightly lower offer. The two go back and forth and the price jumps around as the two trolls have a pissing contest before they settle on doing it for 1500 each bike and they provide even numbers. Prior then looks at Knox, "Seems I have the people and the firepower but it's going to cost me 30k. What say we split that expense and take it off your number and I pay you 20k, the worth of one generator in hand for the hope that there's 3 in the bush."

Knox leans in, "Call it 25kay and your contact information so we may continue to do business in the future and you have a deal." The ork fixer wipes a hand across the table.

Prior nods, "I'll do 25, but we'll do 15 in cred and 10 in merch. You pick up the merch after we make the move on the genny's if the info is what you say, you'll get the best merch we've got. If you did us wrong on the deal, we'll deliver 10k in ammo, high speed delivery if you catch my drift, and yeah, we'll do business with you in the future, one way or the other."

Knox offers his hand to shake, "It's a deal. Let's hopethe packages are handled with care."

Prior shakes on it, "Of course, would a Saint lie?" He smiles in a most unangelic way despite the halo he wears on his jacket.

Knox repsonds, cigarette bobbing in the corner of his mouth, "I don't lie, but the rumoer about me being cruel? You bet.", smiles like a divorce lawyer with dollar signs in his eyes.

Crewpit and Gallop hang back while Prior and Knox conclude their transaction, they've down a few more of the beers by this time. When Prior moves to go upstairs they approach Knox, "Little brother," Gallop starts using one of the friendly insults that spring up in orc town between the trolls and the orcs, "You call on us if you need anything. The beer might not have been worth the drive but 15k out of the saints pockets and into ours is." Crewpit nods, then adds, "Course, if you need real muscle you'll have to call on the Demoboyz." The two big trolls trade punches to the shoulders, everybody is one big happy family once the cred is getting spread around.

Knox stands and offers a handshake to each gang rep, "Thank you for your time." he states succintly.

«Auto-Judge[]» Levon (#9144) rolls Etiquette vs TN 5 for "Levon entertaining the trio that have been upstairs. Success equals contacts for Levon as well. Failure no effect, botch and they've got him on the bar with a knife to his throat.":
1 3 4 5 5 10 = 3 Successes

The six gangers make their way out into the snowy Denver day, they have a brief discussion arranging for the hit, then break off to return to their turf. The chains on their tires through up massive bluffs of snow and the trolls damn near pull the bikes around with brute force. The Saints truck has an easier time of it but they all get on their way.

Levon looks over at Knox once the ganger's have left, "Everything go well, Sir?…ahhh…Henry?" He asks as he moves to straighten up the bar.

Knox walks up the stairs and lets out a long deep breath. "Phhhheeeewww.", he pulls out a credstick, "I lost some money on the deal, but I think I gained some trust in the process, which is good for the team." He reaches into his sweater vest and pulls out a credstick. "This is for you for helping to set it all up."
«Stats System» Knox (#4448) just gave you 5000 nuyen for "Gang meet setup".

Levon smiles and nods, "Thank you, Henry." He says taking the credstick and pocketing it quickly. "Do we need to make any followup arrangements at this time?"

Knox nods, "I think we need to have a drink."

Levon chuckles, and nods his head towards the bar, "We're in the right place for it, and the owner and I both measured the bottles before he left so we'll be billed appropriately, what would you like?" Levon moves behind the bar to serve from the bottled drinks while elsewhere gangers plan a heist.
