Save-Amy-Jane

GM: Elena
Players: Shoeshine Boy, Elena.
Synopsis: The runners have to rescue a girl and end in a gang war
Date: May 22nd 2071

It had seemed to be such a simple little job. A desperate corp Exec had asked you to retrieve his pretty little 'princess' of a daughter. And offered you 40K. She was supposed to have been seen last in Misato's Noodle bar, so far out of any troubled areas. But then your follwoing her trail had led you more and more into the shit. First you followed her trail into the CAS, where she obviously had joined a Go-Gang. Then the gangs traces led you into the Warrens. What's worse, there was a rumor the gang seemed about to engage combat with another gang. Amy-Jane Wilkins was obviously starting to stick in /deep/ drek. And you needing to rescue her with her. When you finally had been able to find her there was no more to do that watch the two Go gangs rush into what looked like a full fleged gang war. About 60 gangers all in all shooting, kicking and flayling at each other. One of them a girl you needed to get back to daddy.

Elena was cursing and conjuring up one of her spirits, a city spirit this time. Not her specialty, but in there she would need to have /some/ firepower. And her spirits gave her a little edge at least.

Shoeshine Boy says offhandedly, "I don't suppose you have an invisibility spell?" He figures he COULD go in there with Ingram blazing, but then EVERYONE would go after him. As it is he just puts on his babushka-like Ares Happy Helmet and his shock gloves, and hunkers down.

Elena shrugs, "We'll sneek in under the cover of my spirit and yes… Invisible."

Shoeshine Boy stands up and puffs out his chest. Meatshield ho! He figures he'll lead the way, nailing people appropriately, and carve a path as needed to the girl once his guiding mage is all ready.
Shoeshine Boy peers down at himself. "I can still see me."
Shoeshine Boy peers at you. "I can see you too."

Elena frowns, "Well you'll always see yourself. But hopefully with the spirit hiding us they won't.", she says to the dwarf.", then gives the spirit the respective order.
After those words she starts to move as stealthily into the battle as she can, using old rusted cars and ther debris on the old abandoned highway as cover as she moves out to look for the girl they are supposed to find.

Shoeshine Boy keeps his head up and his eyes out. After all, over these distances, each and every one of the gangers might as well be standing right next to him, and he's jacked in a chip with a number of pictures of the girl so he can compare it in his head to what shows up on the enhnaced screen inside his head. But he still has to move in, both to cover Elena as well as to get better vantages of the fight. And actually, if there's people, like, dying in front of him, he might well trauma patch them and first aid at them in his lame way.

The battle seems to be a quite suitable distraction, as none of the gangers seem to even get a hint on the runners walking almost in their midst. Not even a single suspisious glance goes their way. But then there is the matter of finding the girl…

Elena walks through the crowds, but sustaining those two spells seems to be demanding a lot of her concentration and she lacks the usual clarity of her senses.

Shoeshine however notes a girls pink hair, that resembles their targets hair color. This hair color having been helpfull in finding the girl during the search. A closer look confirms, pink with the blue glitter starts in it. The girl is, as was expected in trouble. A huge troll going her way with an axe in hand. Worse. She is distracted by aiming at another guy with her gun.

Shoeshine Boy 's twitchy super-reflexes have been engaged for some time, so when his super-vision resolves the pink hair and other details, his threat-detectors also factor in the troll and the axe. Well, if he shot the troll, that would just make him mad.

Shoeshine Boy will be doing a classic escrima 'scissor' block - his forearm guard on the haft of that massive weapon and his hand to the troll's hands, clamping down and sweeping the axe out of its desired path at the innocent pink-haired lass.
Shoeshine Boy stops that axe with a thump, and sweeps the trolls' arm over his head. "Hey!" he calls to the girl. "Look behind you!" At least this way she'll see the troll even if he just gets overrun.
Shoeshine Boy clearly used the massive force of the troll's own swing to crunch his fingers and give him shoots of electrical pain.

The troll grunts as a fist out of nowhere so suddenly hits him. He peers around, wondering where in all devils names the fist was comming from, but the magic Elena is keeping up fools the big brute and he shakes his head moving out to get the girl again.

Elena just watches the scene, works hard to keep her magic up. It seems to serve the dwarf nicely, after all this troll seems totally unaware of his doings. She then orders the spirit to trip the troll.

The spirit does it's best, but all it has to work with was a bike on the floor and the troll simply steps over it, though he looks puzzled how it so suddenly skidded his way. He grunts and moves on.

Shoeshine Boy runs after him and says, "Get over here!" Actually, he runs to the back of him and slaps his ankle back of the other ankle as he walks - or tries to, to make him fall to the ground ludicrously.

Shoeshine Boy may have hooked his feet, but dang it! He just stumbles and staggers and gets untangled. Why is he so tenacious! "I'm over here!" he tells the troll from behind him, so as to give him an invisible location.

The troll stumbles, catches himself and then looking around he hears those words, his hit is not really too far away from the aim. In fact the quick strike almost might have connected. Shoeshine will feel quite a draft of air passing his neck, but luckily the pain of the previous hit and the fact that the troll can merely guess where his openent stands seem to prevent the hit hitting the mark.

Shoeshine Boy whews! Finally attracted the guy's attention! What's a dwarf gotta do!

The troll grumbles out, "Show yaself coward! Be a man about da fightin'! Howeva ya hide there… Yer a mage pussy?", he then growls.

Shoeshine Boy is pretty much up in the troll's crotch, unleashing tight hooks into his inner thighs and uppercuts to the crotch, sparking off those shocking gloves of his. How much can he take? But hey, troll. These things take time.

The troll grunts as it is hit by the hit on his calves and thighs, but that gives him an idea where his oponent is, close as these strikes come and finally he strikes out harshly against the dwarf.

Shoeshine Boy steps in on an angle, and unleashes a brutal knee-hook combination, looking to bring that damn troll to the ground.

The dwarf angling away and him being open due to his harsh strike the troll runs full force into the dwarfs hit and falling down to the floor he rams himeslf full force onto that bike lying there. The wounds resulting are not a pretty sight. But the troll most likely will live.

At another front things are about to get dramatic again. As Amy-Jane has been driven into cover in the meanwhile by vicious SMG fire. Not seeing that another ganger is aiming at her from the other side of her cover.

Shoeshine Boy 's exciting little troll-based interlude aside, he makes his way to the pink-haired girl. Hey, it's been like, 5 seconds, she might be reloading by now.

Shoeshine Boy 's superior vision and all-around hearing narrow in on the opposing ganger with a clear line of fire - conveniently on the same side of Amy-Jane's cover where he is. He moves to walking - run and gun is a little unsafe for what he needs to do. It's quickdraw time - his silenced predator for a mentally-controlled double-tap on the offending gunner.

Shoeshine Boy hopes to at least distract him! He centers the crosshairs slightly off center mass so as to defeat his trauma plates, and looks to abseil APDS slugs into the target.

The ork calls out in pain as he is hit by the first bullet. A nice ammount of blood spurting forth from his chest as the slug hit the aim.
The next shot, though still nicely aimed seems to be less well placed. It enters the gunners left arm and causes a small bleeding there.

Shoeshine Boy is walking calmly, his breathing controlled, the same wires that control his nerves helping him gun them to perfect solidity. Cool, calm, steady, just like those crosshairs on the ork's body, just like the blading of his body and his readiness to dive out of the way of assault on his relentless approach to the girl.

The guy seeing Shoeshine, yes, he saw through the spell, changes targets to get rid of the guy who shot him. Unfortunately his wounds and the long range make him hit one of the toughest parts on the dwarf, making the bullet zoom off with no more effect than a minor bruise on the dwarfs skin.

Elena will now order her third service to the city spirit. This one meaning she includes the girl in their concealment. The girl at once getting less easily seen by her surround.

Shoeshine Boy keeps up his walk, plinking away. If the guy's gonna be gut-shot and keep shooting, he has to shoot too. Was that a bullet? Geez!

Shoeshine Boy finishes the job with the fourth bullet, spinning him to the ground with a bit of a frown. That was a little close for comfort. But slow and steady wins the race!

Elena eyes roam over towards all the downed gangers in this fight. Her gaze telling she is aching to help but her mission is preventing her from doing so. There's actually some tears in her eyes. She blinks them away to move over to Amy-Jane and the dwarf. "Now it's time to head home, Amy-Jane.", she says. Causing the girl to jump for real. "What… Where?", she stutters, then calls out, "Whoever you are! I am not going home…"

Shoeshine Boy comes close to Amy. "Hey there. This is your personal invisible guardian angle." He's a short guardian angel by where the voice is coming from, and his voice is younger than the usual gruff voice. "What's waiting for you at home?"
Shoeshine Boy cracks off a few shots at anyone comeing close to suggest that they stay back.

The fight seems to have moved on a a bit away. It's like the unlikely trio of an runaway elf girl, the white robe clad human and the tough dwarf, are the only people on this wind swept part of the highway now. Aside from the cries of the hurt and dying. This is also what Elena sees, "From what we know your dad cares about you. Enough to pay a small fortune to get you back. We saved your ass at least two times today, so you really should have a good reasonfor not wanting to go back. Cause next time we might not be there to save your ass."

The girl seems to be surprise about those words, then asks unsurely, "You saved my life? But how?", she says puzzled. "I was well placed in the battle."
It also seems that the cries of the dying and hurt people slowly gets to the girl. She looks around with concern as she sees some people she knew bloodied and dead around her. For the first time noting obviously how exposed she had been through the losses of people that should have secured her position.

Shoeshine Boy says, "See that troll with the giant axe about twenty feet from you? And see that ork ganger who's thirty meters behind you?'
Shoeshine Boy says "On this side of your cover? You forgot to check your six."

Amy-Jane blanches as she realizes her true threat. She finally nods, and much more subdued than before she says, "Gods… You… killed them to save me?", she asks disturbed. Far from her haughty notions before.

Elena speaks out, "Well, I actually think both are yet alive. But the gun boy looks bad. And sadly I lack the time to heal him. It's most imperative you leave with us now. From your words I assume you have no real reason to stay away from home, yes?"

The girl nods and then asks, "So…where are you guys, so I can follow you out of here?", she asks then.

Shoeshine Boy says "You experienced something called 'tunnel vision' and 'auditory exclusion.' If you think back, you'll realize you only saw what was in front of you, and you couldn't hear anything until the fight was done. I was shouting and calling to you but you didn't hear me… that happens to people a lot in their first firefight.""
Shoeshine Boy claps his hands. "Right here."

Elena smiles (though probably only Shoeshine will see it currently) and says friendly, "I will take your hand. Move as silently as you can and all will be well." She then does as she announced and leads the girl with Shoeshine as escort out of the danger zone and back to daddy.

Shoeshine Boy maintains a strong lookout, as well as helping mention safe points of cover. Gun out and sweeping, knees bent, heel-toe walk.

The rest was the promised cakewalk. The girl, Amy-Jane, followed meekly enough and thus was soon back in downtown. Her father was overjoyed and when he heard about the risks taken to get her home savely, he even added a generous bonus of 20K to the previous offered 40K making this 30K for each of them. "Life's good.", where Elena's words as she leaves with the money.
