Through various contacts information comes down about a job that will be opening up. The people are to meet down in the Smoky Hills

section of the Warrens, the person doing the hiring will be dressed in Shape 13 colors. The meet is to be held in a bar called The Rum Runners.

Crit grabs his duffel bag and makes sure everything is squared away. Rifle - Check, Cyberdeck-check, electronics gear-check. He zips it

up and takes the tube until they drop him off in the bad side of town. After that he takes every possible safe route he can to the job, he

mutters under his breath as he approaches the bar, "I gotta stop taking runs in the warrens, this place scares the drek out of me."

Duke pulls up in an orange, luxury sportscar - not very subtle out this way, but he spent good money on the thing, so he's going to show it off.

He also left the good old machinegun at home, instead just bringing himself and his wits, in a slightly dusty trenchcoat with bits of chainmail

visible on the inner lining. He looks around the Rum Runners, looking very happy to be here. After years of moving goods around for them, now he

gets to actually work with shadowrunners as equals. He tries to find the person he's supposed to meet.

Dekkar arrives at the bar stepping inside without looking very concerned about the location. He scans over the place, looking for the

person his contacts mentioned. He arrives in full armor, with his secure jacket as his outermost garment. He could have anything stuffed in

there, and that's the idea.

Lynx packs up her deck and toolkit, and heads over to the Smoky Hills, to the Rum Runners. She has taken a cab, not wanting to drive her

car to the bad part of town. She pays off the cabbie, and heads in to the bar, pausing for security to check her over for entry. She's wearing

her longcoat, and, frankly, hopes she'll have a chance to stop at home before the run.

Once everyone enters The Rum Runners they find that is is mostly empty except for a trio of people sitting in the rear of the bar and

the bartender. The ork sitting at the table is dressed in the colors of Shape 13. His two assistants are a pair of trolls that look as if they

were cut from the same mold. His eyes shift to look towards the door and he indicates a quartet of chairs and he says, "Have a seat."

He looks up, and responds to the motion of a hand. Dekkar moves in and has a seat, since the actual search has been taken care of for

him. He nods to the Johnson as he sits down. He looks to the left and the right to see who else has arrived to the meet, then fixates his

attention on the Johnson.

Crit nods and moves forward to sit. Turning his chair backwords he sits down slowly taking a look at his possible new employer. "You got

anything to drink?".

Duke really looks far too happy to be here as he takes a seat "Thank you kindly." He says with a fading deep-south accent. He even tips

an imaginary hat at the other three runners and sits there quietly and expectantly

The woman walks toward the other patrons in the bar, joins them as she realizes this is who she's here to meet. Lynx takes the remaining

chair, and nods to the Johnson, his men, and the others there, apparently for the run as well. She takes a look over her soon-to-be partners,

trying to be surreptitious, then finally says to the host, "Thanks." Her voice is low and rich, with a West Coast accent.

Snapping his fingers, the ork says, "Get drinks," and one of the trolls moves over to the bars. The remaining troll folds his arms

across his massive chest, glowering at the team. The ork says, "Here's the scan, our boss Red handles all the joygirls on our turf, runs the biz

tight. Only problem is, we got these Ivans movin' into the turf. They're tryin' to muscle us out of what's ours. We need a group that can go in

and take out the head man. They took over this apartment building, put up all kinda securty. Offering you guys four kay per person per head on

those ya take out."

Thinking to himself Critical stops for a moment and leans back. He takes on a low and serious tone, "Whats your poof of death?".

Duke might have done a spit take if he'd been drinking something at the time. Shadowrunning is good money, alright. Still, he tries to

play it cool. "Uh…any idea how many are in there?" He mentally did some math on how much they would get if there were ten. Then if there were

twenty. It came out to a fair bit of money either way.

Lynx looks at the others, judging their reactions to the job. She listens to the questions, and sits back in her chair, watching the ork

intently. A lot of money, for wetwork. She sits quietly, thinking.

Pulling a harness from a bag, the ork places it on the table. Where the harness would rest on the shoulder a small camera has been

placed. The ork slides it forward and he says, "One of ya will wear this an' record it. So I suggest ya wear masks. The case is sealed, if its

cracked ya don't get paid." He shifts his eyes to Duke as four glasses of rum are placed on the table. "No idea, he rotates in and out crew,

can't keep a fair number of how many there are. Any of our boys gets close they got a pair of snipers working the roof. We've lost five guys so

far."

Dekkar nods. "I'm game for a good old fashioned kinetic op. I bet it'll even be fun." He looks around at the other runners. "I'm sure we

have what we need, I know I do." He looks confident, unphased by the unknown variables that could prove quite a threat. "Just give us the data we

need.. yeah, like that. Any other tactical data?"

Crit mutters, "I have to admit, i dont like the idea that one guy has to be strapped with a camera…but i guess that will do. Going to

need to handle the sniper's first. Gonna be hard pressed counter-sniping. Then again, i hope they dont know we are coming. Maybe I can shut down

their fancy security before everyone arrives…take a handle on the matrix."

"Matrix, are you kidding," says the Ork, he shakes his head and he says, "They're lucky they could get the generators in to power that

old rat trap." Shaking his head he says, "Far as we can tell its all physical security, guards, locks, drek like that."

The glass looks kind of tiny in Duke's hands, his fingers wrap all the way around it when he's not handling it by the rim, which he does

at first. Crit asks his question before he gets a chance so he just enjoys the alcohol quietly for now.

Lynx finally speaks up, "What's the deadline on the job?" she asks. She looks over at Duke, who's huge, and the others before looking to

the ork for his answer. She's sitting back in her chair, with one leg crossed over the other, and hasn't touched her rum yet. Her hands are

clasped in her lap.

Crit smirks and nods, "Well then…we'll have to get close enough to get our hands on their security. I'm sure I can get a handle on it

once i get their…unless someone else has a speciality. That is." He looks around between everyone, "So 4k a head, you dont know how many, what

kind of security, except roof top snipers." He takes his rum and downs it, "Yes, good question miss."

"Twenty four hours," says the ork. He slides a credstick across and says, "There's eight thousand on there, split it however you guys

like." He stands from the table and says, "Anything else?"

Dekkar takes more than a sip of his rum. "I can handle powered security best. Frankly? Unpowered security is something best handled with

a crowbar and a troll. Oh look!" Dekkar snickers and glances at Duke. He's really not concerned at all right now. His spirits seem high, and

while he is paying attention, a look of concern never crosses his face. "I'll volunteer to get close and handle long range external threats

quietly."

"I guess just the address and were solid. Meet back here? Unless someone else has something", Crit sayes. He stands up and grabs his

duffel bag. Looking between everyone.

Duke grins "Well, I'm not a troll, but I think I'll do." He nods, and scratches his cheek a bit "This'll be great, I think this looks

like a good team." Then again, he doesn't know Crit and Lynx are both deckers. "Whoever's on the back-lines should wear the camera. I was going

to volunteer but I think most people want to stand behind me."

"I can take care of the locks," Lynx informs the group, and looks over at Dekkar, then Duke. "It might be easier to get in if we don't

announce our presence." She reaches over finally, and takes the tumbler of rum and has a sip of it. "Meet when? What time?"

"Give 'em the papers Rocko," says the ork as he departs. The troll that remained at the table passes over a sheet of flimsyplas with a

map on it. The location of the building is on the other side of the Seven Hills sector. Once the map is given the troll grunts, "Good luck," and

he follows the other two out.

Often times when you see desolation in a city its a place where dreams have died. The Seven Hills District is an example of what its like

when a dream was a stillborn. The Treaty of Denver was the poison that was injected in this area, the death rattle shows in houses that are

incomplete not just half destroyed. The attempt at suburban lifestyles can be seen in the low ranch style houses and strip malls that never saw

their full potential.
There are some unique aspects of the Seven Hills District, one of which is the skeletons of of a few large planes that have crashed

here. Long ago stripped of anything usable they look like the bones of monsters from the sky.
Large sections of the Seven Hills are charred and blackened from a long history of UCAS bombers dropping their fuel load in foul

weather. The aviation fuel and a careless spark has caused almost as much damage as the capricious touch of man. Always willing to offer their

gifts only to take them away when their when the winds of fortune blow the other direction.
The map was correct, a apartment complex can be seen where its supposed to be. The tall building shows scorches on the side from the

last big burn.

Duke parks a block or two away, dressed the same as the meet except with a machinegun slung over his back and an armor vest over his

shirt. Of course there's a silenced pistol holstered under his jacket too, but that's harder to spot. A Micro-transceiver microphone is affixed

with medical tape to his throat, and the receiver is disguised as a pair of silver ear-cuffs on his left ear.
Criticalfault says "This is where you do your magic Dekkar….also everyone sync up comms?"

«Plot» Haley says, "The apartment complex is three floors from what you can see. I am assuming you've parked a discreet distance away."

Dekkar hops off his Rapier. He has no long weapons with him, and is wearing coveralls. He pats himself in a few places to ensure

everything he thinks is there actually is. He then tunes his micro-tranciever, and slaps it on. He is dressed in dark coveralls with a

distinctive sheen to them. He draws an Ares Predator III, and puts on a pair of goggles with flat black lenses. He draws a line from the Predator

to the goggles, and carefully twists the silencer into place. He activates his coveralls, and begins to fade mostly from view.

Duke fiddles with his transceiver "Channel 8 sound good?" He puts on a pair of sunglasses - a style that went out about five years ago -

and ties a red shop towel around his neck, ready to pull it over his face to disguise his identity on the recording "I'll be callsign 'Duke'."
Commlink-Fault> Criticalfault says, "I can't see them on the roof, they are better hiders than i thought or they arent there. I doubt we are that

Commlink-Fault> Criticalfault says, "Anyone out there speak Russian..?"

Commlink-Duke> Duke says, "Negative. English and German."

Lynx adjusts her micro-transceiver to the proper channel, tests, then pulls a black ski mask on. Leaving her lock toolkit put away for

the moment, she figures she'll get it out when she's not in danger from snipers.

Commlink-Fault> Criticalfault says, "Well, I hack'ed their comms. Hell of alot we can do with it unless we got someone who knows the tongue.

Otherwise we just know when they get angry."

Commlink-Lynx> Lynx says, "No Russian here, sorry."

Commlink-Dekkar> Dekkar says, "Visual contact with one sniper. He's up on their roof, you can see his barrel in a crumbled section of the safety

«Plot» Haley says, "The sniper is facing East."

Dekkar points to the team using his pistol, which can still be seen, and then puts it away and walks away from the team.
Commlink-Fault> Criticalfault says, "Well, i can't hit what i can't see…unfortunately they got me beat. How do we want to do this? We could

just pop people as they come near windows after we drop the snipers or sweep and clear. What do you guys think?"

Don't use the fire escape."

Sits in the back of the van, fiddling with his scanner. Once its exactly where he wants it he leaves it connected to his pocket-sec. He

gets his rifle from his bag and makes sure its ready to go.

«Plot» Haley says, "Its made of brick."

Commlink-Fault> Criticalfault says, "We got a plan yet folks? Cause once we start shooting, it needs to come together pretty quick. I can be

Dekkar approaches the wall quietly and with most of the apparence of a heat wave. He gets a careful footing in the deeper chinks in the

brick patern with one foot, follow suit with both hands, and then starts pulling himself up quietly. He keeps his posture tall and narrow, and

looks to have done this at least several times before. He approaches the top very carefully.

Dekkar carefully climbs over the lip of the safety wall and snakes over it with his body, keeping low and immediately seeking cover with

a quick glance to where the snipers should be, holding still wherever possible to avoid making extra disturbances.

Dekkar slowly steps across the bare roof to the stairway castle, controlling his breath as he moves, and slowly drawing his Predator as

he makes his way across. When he comes within sight, he raises his pistol and takes available time to take the shot with rigid aim. He sends a

shot right into the base of the head of one of the snipers, blowing grey matter quietly across the roof, with a few wet spattering sounds.

«Plot» Haley says, "He is dead."

Dekkar takes a single step from his previous shot, takes a slow breath, and pivots on the other foot, rolling his torso around the

corner. He takes a shot at the second sniper right when his breath reaches the end of its exhaling point, in the natural pause between breaths.

He puts a bullet in the sniper's head, through the base and out the top. More grey matter quietly tumbles through the air and softly lands on the

rooftop, with a faint splatter.

Commlink-Dekkar> Dekkar says, "Engaged. Snipers down."

«Plot» Haley says, "Duke you are up."

«Plot» Duke says, "Well, I guess the only thing to do would be to get out of the car and hustle towards the building."

«Plot» Duke says, "What kind of action is it to open the door, and put my little makeshift mask on?"

«Plot» Duke says, "Oh, and we're in a bad neighborhood so I guess I should close and lock the car doors too :/"

«Plot» Haley says, "I'm thinking your mask is on and it'll be a free action."

«Plot» Duke says, "what about closing and locking the door/turning on anti-theft and all that stuff?"

«Plot» Haley says, "Simple action"

Duke lifts his shop-towel mask over his face and pops open the lamborghini-doors on his car, stepping out. He doesn't even have to think

twice about engaging safety measures on his 'baby' and hustles towards the building.

«Plot» Haley says, "Crit, you are up."

Crit quickly piles out of the car, rifle in hand and heads behind Duke, keeping pace to give the big man backup.

As the runners burst into the lobby, a young man in a suit throws down his cigarette on the ground. He hefts a UZI III and points it in

the direction of the runners getting ready to squeeze the trigger except…

Duke's trenchcoat sort of…flutters, and his Ultra-Power is suddenly in his hand. A quarter second of aiming and two silenced shots

thunk through his armor. The first in the shoulder, the second in the center of his throat where his armor doesn't count for much. Two empty

shell casings hit the floor just before the suit-clad man's body does.

Lynx runs through the door and takes a quick stock of the situation. She switches the camera to the appropriate lighting setting, and

pulls out her weapon to be ready to fire on any Russian who draws a weapon. Normally, she uses gel rounds, but…for this job, regular ammo.

She's definitely slower than the other runners, but she can shoot, at least. She holds her weapon at the ready, aiming at any doors or hallways

she spots. And she stays quiet for now.

echoing much more loudly than it should in the stairway. His right arm barely shakes from the kickback despite the fact it's only being held like

an assault rifle. The guy on the stairs is introduced to a half dozen high caliber rounds on a very personal basis.

Critical rushes into the lobby and find a place to take point. He pushes himself up against the wall and calls into his commlink, "I'll

guard the door out and cover an escape if need be. I'll also keep a scan on the radio if we need to jet from reinforcements or something."

«Plot» Haley says, "Perception check please Dekkar."

«Auto-Judge[]» Dekkar (#6641) rolls Intelligence for "Wuzzat?":

«Plot-Page» (To: Dekkar) Haley says, "While your passkey got you in from the roof, down the hall you see a thick metal door with a palm print

maglock."

«Watchfor» Tsuko (#1490) just disconnected from the game.

Commlink-Dekkar> Dekkar says, "I got a palm printed maglock up here. Any guesses who's dead and has access?"

Commlink-Duke> Duke says, "Whoever looks the most important. I got a guy on the stairs, We'll bring him up and hope it's not also biometric.

Otherwise, we /do/ have a decker."

Commlink-Dekkar> Dekkar says, "I could take it apart, but I'd have to improvise the tools."

Commlink-Lynx> Lynx says, "I have the tools."

Commlink-Dekkar> Dekkar says, "Haul his ass up here. Why not try the easy way first."

Commlink-Dekkar> Dekkar says, "Oh, excellent. I specialize in maglocks… we're definitely covered."

Duke climbs the stairs to the spot where he introduced the guy to his machinegun and tries to carry said machinegun in one hand and the

very gory corpse in the other

Commlink-Dekkar> Dekkar says, "Get me the tools, and I'll get this door open."

Commlink-Lynx> Lynx says, "I think I can get the log taken care of myself. If you don't mind…"

Commlink-Dekkar> Dekkar says, "My apologies. I'll back you up!"

Duke carries the corpse up the stairs and attempts to press his hand to the sensor, which doesn't work. "Damn. Well it was worth a

shot." He also resists the urge to throw the body down the stairs and resorts to standing around keeping an eye out for the others on the team

Dekkar waits in the stairwell for Lynx before he moves.

«Plot» Haley says, "First is removing the case. Electronics B/R 3"

«Plot» Haley says, "Next is to futz with the biometrics, which is tougher. Electronics T#6"

«Auto-Judge[]» Lynx (#9134) rolls Electronics vs TN 6:
1 1 7 10 = 2 Successes

«Plot» Haley says, "Under 1 minute she cracks the lock and the door is opened."

«Plot» Haley says, "When she unlocks the door, what are you two guys doing?"

Lynx hustles up the stairs to get to the lock, putting away her gun as she does. She just trusts that the other guys have got her

covered. Reaching the lock, she pulls out her tools and gets to work. In just over a minute, she has the case removed, and the lock cracked. The

door opens, revealing all its secrets on the other side. Lynx goes to swipe her forearm over her forehead, forgetting she wears a ski mask. No

one can see the face she makes in annoyance at herself.

«Plot» Duke says, "Can I hold an action to shoot anyone that looks dangerous?"

«Plot» Haley says, "Yes"

«Plot» Dekkar says, "Pointing my Predator into the door and waiting!"

The apartment complex itself is run down, but the interior of this one room has been refurbished into a rather nice suite. The small

hallway shows the living room, complete with overstuffed couches and pillows. The light from outside shines in through one of the windows, from

further into the apartment someone is shouting in Russian.

«Plot» Duke says, "I think I'm a little bit taller than Dekkar so I'll follow behind him and aim over top of his head"

«Plot» Dekkar says, "I'll walk in first and clear left, shooting if I see anything dangerous."

«Plot» Haley says, "Looks clear so far, pose in you two."

Dekkar moves forward reactively at a moderate walking pace, sweeping quickly to the left when he enters the room, scanning with his eyes

over the top of the sights on his pistol. When he completes his sweep, he says, "Clear on left." and looks back toward the center of the first

room, scanning for entrances.

From the bedroom walks a man his hands up and a cellphone in his right, he says in heavily accented English, "Look, we come to

agreement, yes? There is no need for fighting. You are good at your job, I need good men like you. Whatever you are paid, I can double."

Duke follows right behind Dekkar, covering him but holding his gun out of the way. "Looks clear." He drawls. Quietly.

Dekkar pauses and looks to Duke for a reaction to this offer, keeping his pistol leveled on the Russian.

Taking a moment, Lynx makes sure to get the dead bodies on camera for their Johnson. Of course, this won't look good if it goes at all

badly. She waits to aim the camera into the suite, though, because if the others decide to take him up on his offer…well, that would be bad,

then, wouldn't it?

AN encouraged smile shows on the old Russian's face as he says, "Good, good you think about it. I like people that think for

themselves." He walks a little closer to the group and he asks, "Who is leader?"

Duke trains the laser sight of his machinegun on the man's chest, over the heart "Ah, sorry, but if you double our pay per kill, we'd

only be making 8 grand." He seems unwilling to walk any closer though

Commlink-Lynx> Lynx says, "If we don't kill them all, the Johnson will hunt us down and kill us."

«Plot» Duke says, "Can I see any sort of traps or anything nearby? Seems suspicious that he's all alone and not trying to hurt us."

«Plot» Haley says, "No traps that you can see, he does seem alone."

«Auto-Judge[]» Dekkar (#6641) rolls Pistols + Combat Pool: 5 vs TN 2:

«Auto-Judge[]» Haley (#4416) rolls 3 vs TN 9:
1 2 3 = 0 Successes

«Plot» Haley says, "And he's dead."

Dekkar drops the hammer without a further thought. Reputation takes a lifetime to build but can be crushed in an instant. He decides not

to bother with any complications.
