| GM: Aeden Players: Aeden, Renegade Synopsis: Aeden is pissed at some gangers for defiling his Roadmaster with spray paint. He's out for revenge, and is looking for others who would be interested to help. Renegade responds, and goes off to begin Matrix Overwatch. Date: September, 2070s |
The call goes out that there's a very pissed off dwarf looking for people to help him go and kick some ass. Those interested need only apply at Joes Dropoff, way out in the Sioux sector.
Vroom! The Suzuki aurora's engine revs high just before dropping into proper gear and shutting off. Renegade tips the bike just a bit as she works the stand down and climbs off. The wireless chip used to start the bike is ejected from her wrist and pocketed as she moves in a sort of awkward way towards the drop bar. "Fuuuuuck." She murmurs and she buries both of her hands into her pockets, looking more like a drug-burnout than a runner at the moment. There are bandages currently wrapped around her forehead as well. Once in the bar she scans the bar to try and track down this alleged pissed dwarf.
Aeden is fuming… most people wouldn't think that a man as short as he could be as loud and angry, but they're mistaken. He can, and he does it quite well. "They been talkin' drek 'bout me fer too long! I'm thinkin' it's time that I go an' give 'em what they got commin' to 'em!" he yells, outrage in his voice.
".. Hey." She says in a sort of quiet, tired voice at the Dwarf. It's not likely he'll hear it. Failing this she moves towards the Dwarf, still looking like some burnout. "Omae," she says a bit louder and firmer, "Scan — what is it?"
"Fraggin' little no-good gang," the dwarf continues on, as if not hearing the question. "Messed with my ride fer th' last time. Paintin' it up while I'm off gettin' food. Ain't no more. I'm gonna' go show 'em…" he says, and then realizes that someone in the place has finally started to pay attention. "Gonna' go fuck their shit up, is what I'm gonna go an' do. More people come along, th' better." He pauses. "Don't got much in th' way I can pay ya, but I know they got some gear we can fence if yer that strapped fer cash. Might find some other stuff you can keep if ya really want it."
"Stuff?" Renegade replies, looking at the at the dwarf, "Yeah. Sure, omae. I've got your back." She grins a bit, but it fades really quickly. "I'm Renegade.
Aeden gives the elf a quick nod. "They got some pretty decent stuff, if word on th' street's good. Usually is, in my experience," he says. "Whatcha do that'll help me dish out some payback?" he asks, curiosity in his voice.
Renegade speaks a bit quieter now that she's got the dwarf's attention. This isn't her usual self, but Aeden probably wouldn't know that. "Well.. I deck.. I'm also probably one of the best people you could find for gaining illicit entrance to locked areas, physically."
Aeden shakes his head. "Got my own way in. But deckin'… th' trix, I take it, an' not drones?" he asks, but goes on before an answer can be given. "There's definitely work t' be done on th' trix, though. If nothin' else, just t' slow Ute response time."
"You're correct, chummer." Renegade replies. "We can work out something I'm sure — maybe a share of the loot." Renegade's posture straightens and she removes her hands from her pockets, choosing now to cross her arms. Well, at least her pain editor is working for the moment.
Aeden nods to Renegade, and then realizes he hasn't introduced himself. "Name's Aeden. I drive, mostly. An' since you deck, I figure you can keep th' law offa me? I got a cycling transponder in th' car, but it's good t' be prepared. I'm thinkin' ya track me while I drive an' mess with cameras 'long the way… see if you can mess with anything they might have fer security in their little hideout. Whatcha say?" he asks.
"Keep the grid unaware that you're about? I can do that in my sleep, omae. I've gotta set up a spot nearby, no wireless, null sheen? But I'll be there on the comm. Once things are clear I'll come in and help you bust whatever up." Renegade tilts her head while watching the dwarf, "Also, a pleasure to meet you, chummer."
"Yeah, that works," Aeden says to Renegade. "I'll go an' reset th' transponder codes, so you've got a decent way t' track it 'fore we get anything underway? Might as well wait t' see if anyone else wants t' go dish out some fun…"
Renegade turns to look at the entering troll before looking back to Aeden. "Transponder. Right. Just prep the number for me and tell me when you're ready to go. I'll move into position in a bit. Renegade's hands move back into her pockets as she glances at the troll at the bar again. "Shiny."
Aeden nods to Renegade, and then slides out of the seat he was in. "I'll letcha know 'soon as I get things set up," he says before turning and waddling away, as most dwarves do.
After a few minutes, Aeden comes back into the bar with a data chip in hand, and makes a path for Renegade. "Got th' codes on here, an' th' address of th' place I'mma head to after I get a chance t' talk to anyone else wants to join in," he says, offering Renegade the chip.
Renegade takes the chip and inserts it into her wrist chip-jack. "Gotcha. I'll go now and set up. Once you begin moving, I'll be following you from there through the trix. I'll be approximately two hundred meters from the target zone, in range of most communication systems. Shiny?"
Aeden nods to Renegade. "Alright. You should see when I get nearby, if yer followin' where I'm at. See ya when I get there," he says, and sits back at the table to wait for any other potential allies.
Renegade nods quickly and turns to leave. As she passes through the doors, she quickly moves towards her bike at a brisk pace, eager to make good time back to her apartment to get her deck. From her apartment, she looks up data on the junction box network for the area near the mission point.
«Auto-Judge[]» Renegade (#5854) rolls Computers vs TN 6 for "Detailed Search, TN 6":

«Plot» Aeden says, "The address is in Longmont, about a mile west of Calkins Lake, near Mountain View Cemetery. Response time for the area is about 8 minutes by surveillance drone, 12 for attack drones, and 15 for High Threat Response, and 20 for normal security. There are several Junction Boxes nearby that you can try to gain Matrix Access through. The closest one is on the southern side of the cemetery (the target address is to the north of it)."
Renegade packs up and heads off towards the cemetery. She chooses a discrete location to park her bike, in the bushes, and activates its Ruthenium cloak. At her nearest convenience, she also memorizes the features of the location and puts down five rocks in a small "x" pattern. After that, she moves to find this cable junction box.
«Plot» Aeden says, "The Junction Box is in the basement of a 6 story apartment complex, and all the matrix connections for the whole block run through it. The door to the building is locked."
Renegade twists the door to the building expecting it to be open like most back doors to a building. Upon stepping forward, however, what she finds is a door that whacks her in the face as she walks right into it. "Ouch!" She says to no one in particular, well what a spectacular moment of fail. Perhaps this overstress is affecting her more than she thought.
Renegade flicks her wrist, which produces a couple of lock picking tools. With a quick glance to make sure no one's watching, she begins to make progress on the door's lock. Mechanical locks are so 16th century.

"Open, damnit.." Renegade says to herself as she scrapes the pins on the inside of the lock while applying torque. After fiddling for long enough, the familiar click of an open lock signals Rene's success. The tools for the picking vanish as quick as they had appeared and Rene progresses to the inside of the building. Also as Renegade opens the door, multicolored lines and static appear over her body suit as the Ruthenium system is activated. She has no way to hide her deck, but it at least provides a significant bonus to her being invisible.

The light inside the building is low… right next to a cemetery isn't exactly a ritzy area, and because there's not much money in the area, the same can be said for security. And safety lighting. About 15 meters down the hall is a door marked 'stairway'.
Renegade stops again, leaving the door slightly ajar as she takes a peak outside the door and down the hallway with both thermal and normal vision, then she checks the area with high, low, and medium range hearing.

A trid can be heard on the other side of one of the doors. Further down the hall is a rather… ahem… noisy couple. But there's no noises that would be out of place in an apartment complex of this nature.
Renegade keeps walking down the hall, keeping an ear out for anyone approaching the hallway, stairs, or intending to open a door. Once at the stairs, she begins to proceed down.
Right next to the staircase on the bottom floor is a room with some washers and driers for the residents to use. Past that are other things you'd expect to be in the basement of an apartment building… except for the couple of doors with maglocks set on them.

«Plot» Aeden says, "Found the junction box room"
Renegade walks into the room, still stealthed in Ruthenium. Once in, she closes the door behind her. Immediately. And moves towards the junction box to begin opening it and tapping it for her Deck's connection.
Looking at the box, there's nowhere in it that's visible to hook the deck up to without a dataline tap of some sort that won't screw up both the deck's functions and the matrix connection in the box itself.

The reason the residence was so quiet becomes apparent to Renegade as soon as she enters the room. There's a body sitting in a chair, eyes bulging and dried blood trailing from her nose, over his mouth, and staining the shirt of the stick-figure thin elf. A thin cable leads from a datajack in her temple to a simdeck on her lap.
Renegade peaks at the sim-deck, but really just walks past the corpse as she drudges up the location for the trix jack. Silently she crawls under the bed while trailing her optical cable before plugging it into her deck, and her deck into her neck port.

You find the building that's shaped strikingly similar to a typical grid guide office building. And the moment you step through the little turn-style doors, the matrix changes again. It now looks like a DMV office, with long lines of faceless people waiting to see their own faceless government type.
Renegade peers about the area apathetically. All of this time spent moving around has her in a bit of a rush to get cracking on finding out if that dwarf has left yet or not. As such she opens up another terminal as she flies through the PLTG looking for that Slave access node to the transponder grid.

Renegade's icon blasts through the Matrix. Trix address after trix address are bypassed as the little green Tron icon Renegade uses logs on to every host. Finally, after a brief search, Rene takes on the host for the target building's security itself. AS she tries to find out all slaves on the server, the system takes notice to her. The IC has no chance against her as she points her fingers at the IC and fires a blast of energy at the countermeasure. As soon as the IC processes crashes, she allocates resources to suppressing said IC, an automated script to keep the IC from running again. Still on the fly, she attempts to take the direct route; a crack right at the superuser of the computer, yet it fails.
A little face appears, floating, with a hand waving back and forth. It's balled in a fist, with one finger extended. "Ah-ah-ah! You didn't say the magic word, Ah-ah-ah…" it says to the icon.
