Sometimes things just fall into place other times it's a matter of setting them up so they don't have anywhere else to fall.

BTLs are a popular recreation, and a great way for groups with an agenda to sway the opinion of the unwashed masses. Most chip-heads wouldn't notice a subliminal message if it was written in reverse on a bat and conveyed to then via a home run swing, but they do tend to fall into line. With the recent power struggles in the Warrens several orgs have released "dirty" chips, embedded within the body shaking highs are encouragements to be loyal to one group.

One such delivery of "dirty" chips was scheduled for this morning. Mr. Johnson, to his credit, didn't waste time telling Nightshade all this, in fact it's something she'll probably never know. What she does know is that he offered ten thousand for her to disrupt a buy from going down and since it was such as rush job he'd consider it a personal favor and would "look out" for her in the future, unfortunately without at least one person backup there was no way she was going up against what could be anywhere from four to eight armed thugs. Cursing having to pass up work she sat fuming in the Melodrama a few blocks from the meet. Then things fell into place…

Dosetsu nods his head seriously, "Sure I'm up for it. Anything special I should be prepped for?" He actually seems to notice your reaction to him sitting next to you, so scoots back a bit to give you a bit of space. He does not leave the couch though, because then he'd look really stupid and crazy.

Nightshade shrugs, "It'll probably be a scrap, so whatever you like to have on hand for a tussle."

Dosetsu nods his head and says, "I don't think Junko will be available, but I will be." He takes another drink of his Kaf before setting his mug down and pulling his cellphone out. He presses a few buttons, evidently either preparing to add your number, or to offer you his own once he finds the damn thing. Dosetsu ahs and says, "There it is. My number is 3937."

Nightshade pulls out her phone and tells it to beam over her contact information to Dosetsu. "Alright, meet me outside The Big House at midnight, I'll fill you in while we walk."

Dosetsu nods his head and gets up to leave. He evidently doesn't have any questions besides needing to know that it is a fight. The crazy guy probably owns like two sets of clothing, so you pretty much at least know what you are getting. Dosetsu has changed into some darker clothing by the time you get to the Big House to get him. At first it looks like he actually didn't show up, but he has this way of being easy not to notice. He was just leaning there not far from the door, not exactly hiding in the shadows, but how he stands there motionless makes it easy to miss him. It is when he sees you and lifts a hand in greeting when he becomes a bit more obvious.

It's dark, and cold, and dark. The intermittent power that makes it's way into the Warrens isn't wasted on outside lighting, and most of the people in the warning frown on bright lights anyway. When power does make it's way through the rotting wires it's used first for heat, then to keep the food edible, then to power whatever means of escape the poor souls trapped here can manage. Trideo sets, BTLs or a good old fashioned chem lab cranking out recreational pharmaceuticals.

Nightshade is bundled up against the cold, in layers, a skin tight suit under regular clothes under a zip up cammo suit, under a heavy overcoat, with hood, hat mittens and scarf. She's got a good sized blade slung under her coat, and another smaller knife on her other hip. She nods to Dosetsu as she approaches then walks past gesturing for him to follow. "Mind you don't touch me…it'd be a mistake." she warns and indeed the air near her seems colder than even the freezing wind that blows down the now seemingly empty streets.

Dosetsu moves to fall in step with Nightshade. He nods his head, but doesn't ask right away. He does glance her way a couple times like he is curious if the odd sensation is something she is doing, or if he is actually scared of her. You may good a real good glimpse at how close Dose is to the edge of insanity by that look on his face that hints that he is not sure if he is afraid of the troll woman or not. Like part of him is keeping secrets.

Nightshade waits till they're in the middle of a block, so the chances of being overheard are relatively slim. "There's a deal going down at 4 am in Princess Di park, if the deal falls through, we make 5k each. And we can keep whatever we salvage from the deal. They're supposedly moving close to fifty thousand in BTLs tonight. Should be two groups, I'm guessing 4 or 5 people in each."

Dosetsu comments, "I heard that place was knee deep in ghouls at night." He doesn't sound like he is backing out, more like he is planning his day. He does also ask, "So up to 10 people?" This time it sounds like his plan at the end of the day might be a bodybag. Final quest is, "Got any grenades?"

Nightshade shakes her head, "No. Just a sword and a little magic. I was thinking we get there early and just scare off whoever shows first first. Probably won't salvage much, but it's lower risk."

Dosetsu nods his head and says, "Yeah half as many of them would be easier." He doesn't have much else to say on the way there, but his intense dark eyes are very alert now as you approach the place, obviously trying to get a lay of the land so you can have as much advantage as possible.

It's nearing 1 am by the time you make your way to the Park. The Cybered Arms is still in full swing and a few furtive people make their way in and out of the Park doing deals in the dark. Nightshade looks to Dosetsu, "They're supposed to meet at the fountain at four, each with a case of some sort, trade and leave. We need to stop that."

Dosetsu nods his head, mostly occupying himself by looking for someplace for you both to hide. He comments, "This is a good spot to meet. It's so wide open in the winter that they should be able to see anyone coming from a long way off. Especially if they have thermo."

Dosetsu nods towards the restrooms as there he seems to think is the best hiding spot.

Dosetsu is like a fucking ninja. He mentioned that he was sneaky, but the underestimation is pretty staggering when he steps into the shadows of the public restroom, then pretty much vanishes from sight. Your trollish vision will help you figure out the he just found some bushes near the restrooms and used them to breakup his outline and signiture. He crouches down and fuckes around with making weapons more easy for him to access. He also uses his raggedy scarf as a strange ghetto-fabulous gili suit. Amazily it works pretty well for him.

Nightshade follows Dosetsu over to the restrooms, she's a bit big to find a really good spot to tuck away, but she gets out of plain sight. She looks at Dose, "I'll try and bring a little help, we've got enough time that even if it goes wrong I can recover."

Dosetsu's soft voice seem much more fitting now that you have seen him in his element. His words drift from the shadows of the broken old public restroom as he says, "If we had some smoke we could probably make the odds much better. Flash-pak would be nice too. Don't suppose your help can do tha- oh wow." The last words seem to be him notice your summoning.

Nightshade nods, "Flash I can do, smoke…no I don't have that."

Dosetsu taps his temple, which you probably can't see, so he mentions, "I have reall good vision, so anything that you can see thru, I probably can. Hopefully they can't."

Nightshade nods, "Alright, I'll try to do that. I'll make myself harder to see too." She says.

Dosetsu quietly says, "Okay." He moves around a little in his hiding spot like he is looking around a good bit as well as continueing to move so his muscles don't cramp up from freezing his ass off and squatting here for three hours.

Several hours pass and four am nears, people have come and gone through the park at several points during the night but no-one seems to notice the two sitting quietly in the dark of the restroom ruins.

Dosetsu has not done this sort of long hours of stalking and laying in ambush for a long time, so as the hours pass he loses a bit of disipline and seems to have more trouble making sure that his muscles are not cramping or freezing up.

At just a hair before what you would guess to be four am there's hooting laughter as four men hop the fence on the far side of the park from the gate, near the gazebo. Two of the men literally hop it clearing it from a running start putting one foot each on the top of the fence to clear it, one climbs over smoothly, the other has to scramble a bit which causes the laughter. At the same time a brown Ford Americar in good condition pulls to a stop just outside the gate clicking off it's headlights but leaving the engine and running lights on. The windows of the car are reflective and nothing can be seen of the interior.

Nightshade looks over to Dosetsu to see what his move is.

Dosetsu frowns a little and points out the men and the car incase Nightshade had missed them. He holds up four fingers then points back towards then men, then towards the car he gives a little 'dunno' gesture. His attention moves back to the men on foot, maybe trying to see if they hold anything that would distinguish them as the ones that they are after and not just four random jackasses.

The man who had to scrabble to get over the fence is carrying a case strapped to his back.

Dosetsu motions across his neck to you and points at the four. With the right angle he seems to be suggesting you might be able to take them without them knowing. Of course the car seems to be something he is overlooking.

All for men who jumped the fence appear to be human, the two that jumped the fence show signs of obvious cyber, the many who had to scramble over the fence looks a bit portly. the final human doesn't appear have any distinguishing characteristics. All four are wearing roughly the same style jacket and you would guess the bandanas tied around each of their arms are matching colors, but in this light it's hard to tell.

Dosetsu moves into the shadows of the gazebo, trying to make himself as invisible to both the men at the fence and the car as possible. He doesn't look to see if you followed him, but with your summoning he probably realizes that you don't have to be as close as he does. He waits and watches in ambush.

Nightshade speaks quietly to the spirit, the conversation does not carry far and Dosetsu only hears the word, "confusion" as he passes her on his way to the ambush.

Despite his speed and stealth the four men are on their guard, and spot Dosetsu as he crosses the open space, a life on the streets doesn't favor the unobservant and they immediately startle into action.

Dosetsu seems a little startled that the guys coming over the fence see him, he must be getting rusty. As they jump in shock of seeing the small man darting towards them he pulls a long knife from the sleeve of his jacket and whips it at one of them, he follows it up with a small knife that is strapped to his upper arm. The knives zip through the night and find their target, but do not seem to hurt him too badly.

Nightshade sends a ball of destructive mana into the midst of the quartet, the two sammies and the average looking fellow drop like rocks, but the portly gent brushes it off like cobwebs. Nightshade bites back a curse in the hopes he hasn't spotted her location yet.

Dosetsu comes around the collapsed gazebo like a… well ninja honestly. His katana being pulled from his back as he closes on the ground that is still busily collapsing from Nightshade's powerful spell. The one remaining man might have a cocky look on his face for a split second as he resisits the spell, but as Dosetsu rushes past him the blade arch smoothly past the man.

The arms that went up in defense are the first things to slide from his body, both hitting the ground just about the same time that his knees give out of him. The wet gurgle of the mans death is the only sound of the brief exchange.

From the point that the groups feet finished touching the ground to when the wet mess of the portly fellow hit the ground less than 20 seconds had elapsed, the time seemingly slowing to allow the runners to do their work, now with four bodies on the ground time seems to be in a rush to catch up.

Nightshade starts watches Dosetsu for the next move, having taken the initiative by rushing out to confront the first group she waits for the quirky man to react.

Dosetsu is pretty strong and is evidently not at all squeemish about dead people. He resheaths his blade, then starts dragging bodies behind the gazebo. It seeems that Dose thinks that group number two and the guys in the car might still be able to be ambushed.

Nightshade doesn't appear to be doing anything but watching Dosetsu.

A minute or two passes as Dose drags the bodies behind the Gazebo. He finishes and not much has changed.

Dosetsu drags all four bodies behind the gazebo then gets hidden again long enough to get stock of the situation. He peers out to see if the car out front has done anything, then looks over to make sure the Nightshade hadn't passed out from her spell.

The case has a simple tumbler style combination lock on it, you might be able to break it open, but you doubt it would close afterwards (unless you had lock picking skills).

Dosetsu doesn't mess with the case for too long, its locked and he doesn't have time to screw with it. He stuffs it into his own backpack, then glances over at Nightshade again who has been nominated as lookout at this point it would seem.

Nightshade continues attempting to bring up another spirit unsuccessfully, she keeps an eye on the car which has for the last 4 or 5 minutes sat unmoving just outside the gate.

Dosetsu rifles though the guys shit pretty quickly, doing a pretty basic search for things like guns and money. He starts with the chubby guy who lived throu the magic attack, and gives that body more attention than the rest, you never know what sort of magic goodies these guys might have.

Each man is wearing a matching armored jacket, the two with obvious cyberarms have katana and shortswords as well as two pistols each. The average looking man is carrying a SMG, the portly fellow has nothing on him you identify as immediately valuable. None of them are carrying credsticks or IDs that you can find.

Dosetsu doesn't seem to have found anything he is going to take with him, but he did make a little pile of weapons near the gazebo incase you want to load up the shopping cart on the way out. He then looks over at Nightshade and points towards the car, then gives her the 'want to kill em?' look.

Nightshade shrugs in response. Then tries again to summon a spirit from this twisted astral landscape.

As the spirit finally manifest Nightshade looks up with a slightly triumphant look in Dosetsu's direction.

the Vehicle is parked on the near side of the street just outside the gate, on the map the vehicle would be facing down.

Dosetsu hurries back across towards the restroom building, trying to use the darkness to keep him hidden as he goes back to join Nightshade for a moment, or at least get on that side of the park.

Nightshade looks up as you approach, "We done?" she asks as quietly as she can.

Dosetsu stops very quickly to tell Nightshade the Master Plan(tm). He quietly says, "I'm going to jump the fence on their blindside and jump into the car and kill em. Back me up as best you can."

Nightshade blinks at Dosetsu, then just says, "Ok."

Dosetsu pauses to say, "There might be five guys in there right?" like he might be thinking better of that plan all of a sudden.

Nightshade nods slowly.

Dosetsu asks, "If I'm close to them can you do that big nasty kill everything thing without killing me?"

Nightshade shakes her head.

Dosetsu nods, "Okay new plan." He picks up a rock, this one with a bit more heft than you were chucking at rats earlier in the day. "I'll break the window, you nuke anyone you can see when it breaks

Dosetsu goes on to say, "If they speed away we cut our losses and call the case good for a haul. Sound good?"

Nightshade nods slowly, "Alright."

Dosetsu nods his head then moves partially out from cover so you can be ready to blow shit up if he is able to throw a rock a little more effectively than he can a knife.

Dosetsu must think that he has a good arm or something because he keeps throwing things like expects them to be effective. He whips the rock rock towards the car, but even with a side view of the thing he can't hit a window, hell he doesn't even hit the car as near as you can tell.

The car's headlights turn on.

Dosetsu picks up another rock and tries again. He doesn't seem to have come up with any better ideas.

Nightshade watches from concealment as dosetsu hefts the rock, peeking through a crack in the busted up wall.

Dosetsu quietly comments, "I hope they don't have reinforced windows." as he whips another rock in the direction of the car. This one flies true and hits the window. It's not pretty, or a direct hit but it is with enough force to smash the glass and hopefully give you a look at least one person inside of it. This whole ghetto rock throwing sniper idea has may lead you to plan differently next time you take him anywhere. It is fairly low risk considering he already has the case, but it is likely not the tales of bravery and fearlessness that will be swooning the womenz.

As the rock smashes into the window a hole is left behind in the safety glass exposing the illuminated interior, while not a very good viewpoint it's enough for nightshade to get off a stunbolt and the driver rocks backwards as his nervous system courses with magical forces.

Dosetsu breaks cover to close with the car full of guys who are going to be very busy filling him with bullets in a moment. Brave and stupid he at least should buy you a bit more time to cast at these guys again. He whips a couple more of those small knives at the car, maybe aimed for … well who knows. One digs into the dirt near the enterance, the other bounces off the curb and the underside of the car. Dose stops behind the cover that the big fountain offers, but seems ready to break cover again soon to get closer so he can use his katana.

Dosetsu's scramble across open ground cost him as mage in the vehicle spots him and sends destructive magic surging outward. It brushes Dosetsu causing only slight damage, but still it's a painful reminder of mortality.

Nightshade focuses on the driver again, sending more magic coursing through him, and though his body is wracked with pain he still manages to slam his foot down on the accelerator and drop the car into gear. The vehicle whines as it leaps forward, gears grinding and tires squealing in protest.

The car has just started to lurch forward, but if not stopped by the end of this combat turn it will be pulling away and out of sight.

Dosetsu breaks from cover behind the fountain and runs towards the wooden castle. He throws two more knives ineffectively at the car. He is getting kind of close, which may lead to future speculation as to why he was asking about grenades earlier.

Dosetsu is getting shitkicked by that mage in the backseat. He is not looking so great not. He has some cover and the car is pulling away, but its starting to look more and more like Dos may not be too inclided to give chase much longer.

Nightshade looks out from her hiding spot at Dosetsu, "Clear?" she calls out.

Dosetsu gets behind the wooden castle, looking like he is both happy and surprised to be alive. He doesn't answer your question right away. You can both hear the car squeeling away, but he double checks before saying, "Yeah and we had better go. Those guys were a little tougher than I thought."

Nightshade nods making her way over to the bodies to check them quickly, she grabs the weapons Dosetsu had piled up and heads for the fence, wrapping the weapons in her overcoat and preparing to hop it.

Dosetsu hurries to catch up with you. He still moves quietly, but he looks a little fried. That mage in the car did a number on him.

Nightshade looks over at Dosetsu as she clears the fence, "You alive?"

Dosetsu nods and says, "Couldn't get close enough… fast enough." He jumps over the fence and starts moving again before saying, "Sorry about the plan. I pictured it working better than that. Guess we still got the case from that first group, so that's something."

Nightshade nods, carrying the load of weapons, "Yeah…" She looks at the little pile of rubbish trailing after her, "Do everything you can to cover our trail"

The rubbish scatters and Nightshade looks at Dosetsu, "Think you can run a few blocks?"

Dosetsu nods his head, but doesn't waste his breath on words. He does point in the direction that the first group came from, maybe suggesting blending your trail with theres for a little bit. He falls behind a little to help disguise the tracks as best he cane without slowing down a whole lot.

Dosetsu follows you along, letting you focus more on where you are going, and being aware if trouble is coming. He seems to do well making your trail hard to follow. He doesn't actually make any effort at all to disguise his at all. You may notice at some point that he doesn't leave footprints.

The trip through the Warrens is cold, dark, and painful. But there's enough money coming in from this to support at least the food for the next month, which puts a spring in Nightshade's stomp. She stops a few blocks shy of The Big House gesturing for Dosetsu to follow her into an abandoned building. She thunks down the haul she's been struggling along with. "Alright, any of this stuff useful to you?" she asks pointing to the jumble of guns, swords knives and bullets.

Dosetsu gets the case out and hands it over to you. He comments, "I use to know how to open stuff like that… But you know, animal friends and all that." He looks over the gear then shakes his head, "Guess I could take one of the katana's, you can never have too many." He got his expensive knives back, and does not seem too put of by the loss of several throwing knives.

Nightshade looks at the combination lock for a few minutes, then picks up one of the knives and starts prying at the case, trying to pop off the hinges, snap off the lock, rip or cut it open.

It takes a solid hour of working on it, and dawn starts to peek over the horizen as she finally gets the two halves of the clamshell case torn apart.

Dosetsu sits back and letsyou work the lock. He doesn't offer suggestions or anything, he just waits patiently for you to overpower the lock before he peers over to take a gander at what is inside.

As the case pulls back Nightshade's eyes light up, held within, in neatly rubber banded bundles are stacks of paper money. It'll take some time to count, but if the info from Nightshade's contact was right this could be close to 50k.

Dosetsu is so quiet and still at certain points in that hour that you might think he fell asleep. Just when you are sure he is he moves around a little, always acting like he wants to sit right next to you. The guy has some screwed up idea on personal space, which really becomes clear as he eyes you like he is planning on spooning you for body warmth in this frozen ass building. Thankfully this is about the time you get the lock open.

Dosetsu looks at the cash and says, "Wow." His enthusiasm tempered a little by pain, but he does smile a little and say, "That is a lot of credits… I thought it would be BTL's and we'd be stuck trying to pawn that shit forever."

Nightshade looks at Dosetsu curiously, "Who would by 50,000 in BTLs /from/ gangers? Wait, you mean you just randomly picked which one to attack?"

Dosetsu is quiet for awhile after that. After a little bit he says, "I just jumped the first ones to show up. After you made em all dead, I figured what the hell might as well make it an even sweep." He shrugs then comments, "I had no way of knowing which one had the BTL's and which ones had the money."

Nightshade sighs, "That's going to cost you a nuyen." She takes one out of the pile, "This one. The rest we split even."

Dosetsu is quiet a moment longer before saying, "Plus I thought it was like 5k worth of cash and 5k worth of BTL's." He shrugs then offers a little less crazy grin, mostly because he is hurting pretty good right now. He says, "Okay, fair enough. Still a good enough cut for me find someplace with heat to sleep tonight."

Nightshade nods and does a rough cut of the money anticipating that the gangers wrapped the money in more or less even bundles, "Yeah, I think you could find somewhere warm with that." She pushes the stack and the Katana that Dosetsu requested towards him, then bundles the rest up. "I'll call you if I hear another opportunity, but next time…better plans."

Dosetsu smiles a little at that before commenting, "I use to be much stronger. I use to be able to confidently just dive in and make everything dead. It's tough to be reborn." Then after that random bit of craziness he collects up the blade and the NuYen. Concealing the blade, then splitting the stack to hide it in various places on his body. No sense in giving one pickpocket a big payday.
