Only the Cutting Edge, Pt II

GM: Posh
Players: Bull, Krieg, Posh.
Synopsis: Posh gets a tipoff from Dirk and Vic that there’s high end extreme sports gear to be stolen from a Citymaster shipment through the city, off the books. Posh arranges a bit of a social engineered opportunity, along with Bull and Krieg, to steal the shipment and be off without leaving any corpses to motivate a deeper examination into the weaknesses of Forthright Security.
Date: 10/25/2075

Posh considers…her internal alert on her image link flashing a little bit as she pushes away from the computer. "Too much planning," she says, pulling away from the computer, and stretching STREEEEETCH. She heads away from the computer and goes to craack her neck a little bit. "Hmm," she says. "You know, Krieg -has- been always going to work on her things. Maybe she could find a use for some of this junk," she says. "After all, I know for a fact…oh, drek! I'm talking to meself!"

She clambers up the clinking staircase and knocks on the door, hopefully giving a grin to him. "Let's load out," she says. "Got a quick tip that a Citymaster's going to be headed through an area that my info dealer mentioned is down for maintenance, at least for the local traffic cams. Anyway, apparently my old friend in the 'Rens, Rollo Doohrz, wants the Citymaster," she says. "And I'm sure we can find a use for what it's carrying: a high density load of individually not very powerful parts," she says.

"In any case, I was thinking that I ring up Krieg and cook up a little something. What do you think?" she asks of Bull.

Bull is doing guard duty, which by in large consists of him cleaning his guns and looking threatening while waiting for bad things to happen. (They almost never do). When Posh suggests work, he grunts approval and immediantly rises to his feet to gather ammunition. "Bout time." He grunts, nodding his head. "Ring her up. Good to have her and Senshi along."

Posh finds Bull cleaning his SMGs - those gorgeous XSGs that she's always been a touch jealous of. She chuckles a bit as she sees him," she says. "Indeed. Let's go make some bad things happen," she says. After all…it's a little ironic. The people that Bull has been arranged to help defend against, or keep an eye out for, are just simply…those like herself and her friends.

She contacts Krieg and lets her know that she'll be by the garage in the Woodlands soon, for a van-based meet.

Then, all that's left to do is to board the van in the garage of the Bastille, switch the color to 'dirty tan,' and find a route out of the Warrens where their SINs will be virtually waved through in high traffic times, as they clearly have the wealth of a vehicle.

Though the border guard seems to take a little extra hard long at Bull, Posh smiles sweetly through the extra checks in the van, but resolves to change the color and license plate again once out of sight.

They pull up into the garage of the Woodlands a few moments later, Posh getting out her BattleTac system and making sure that there will be enough for everyone to hook up.

When Krieg and Senshi approach, the side door with slide open, allowing them to enter.

Senshi nods to Bull in recognition, he is fairly recognizable, also outcast to the rare seats due to 'durability'.

Krieg herself ventures back to see Bull since Posh is driving. "Has your work been treating you well?"

Posh gives a smile. "You liked that fedora, didn't you, Senshi?" she asks, handing him a packet of gummis for Krieg, if she wants. Posh also tips a wink in Krieg's direction, and then turns back to Bull.

She shows a display, the city starting to fill in a bit around as she adds local data around the icon of the Citymaster she started with. "All right," she says.

"It's hardly a SOTA shipment, but there should be some useful things in here. My softs and info dealer processed a tip from Vic, apparently," she explains. "There should be a considerable quantity of civilian survival-grade cyberware and equipment and the like. Expensive stuff, for high-end customers, but not milspec at all," she says. "It's being guarded by a small security outfit: a few citymasters, and so on. Reasonably trained guards." She grins. "I doubt they'll know too well what hit them. Further, Dean informed me that we'll be in an area of security that has frequent outages and such - and based on his analysis of load dynamics, there's likely going to be an outage for a number of hours around the range this truck is supposed to go," she explains. "So…well, let's keep it simple. I don't want to make too many enemies, and witnesses are potentially a problem. And we can't knock the thing out of commission," she says. "My best idea is to…Actually, I'm not sure I have a best idea. What are ways to take out a moving Citymaster, such that it is still operable, with a couple witnesses likely to be around?" she asks.

Bull tips his head to Krieg. "Well enough." He agrees, "The perks make it worth it." He looks to Posh, listening to her explanation as he considers. "Depends. Stop it, shoot out the driver. Roadblock, or just drive in front of it and crank on the breaks. He stops, we light him up." Bull shrugs idly, "Doesn't damage the vehicle, just makes a mess. Other then that? Well, ain't really hijacked many loads."

The gummies are accepted and placed into a tactical pouch as Senshi quietly watches the crew, the Fedora kept inside the Van near his seat where he left it just in case.

Krieg listens to the discussion, finding a seat near Bull to wait and watch. "It does sound like the most vulnerable times will be any loading, unloading, refueling points for the group. Such devices will likely be less protected than higher value devices. Hiting them in-route will likely require more resources and possibly damaging tactics and munitions." she pipes up just a bit to interject.

"But I do agree with Mr. Bull, that such simple tactics will often work when done properly, and the opposition is not intending to fight to the death for the protected items." added to the end.

"For this load and this job, they will probably vigorously defend their vehicles. We can likely expect a lethal response to robbery, but I don't think that they will press an attack on us. They just need to make sure that when the insurance company reviews any information they have - which will be limited as the cameras are going to be down - that they weren't derelict in their duty. If we don't have their buddies attending their funerals, though, they're probably not going to respond with the same weight that they would in other circumstances. So, let's try do not leave any bodies, unless they're still breathing," she says. "That means rebounds." She nods. "All right, for a roadblock. Well, what we could do is steal a couple of cars in the area and drive them into position," she says. "Or, perhaps…" She grins. "We have two of us stage a collision in the street right in front of the Citymaster. We then start yelling at them, demand that they take our information," she says, with a chuckle. "If we make it seem like a regular traffic messup, they might be dempted to dismount from the vehicle. At that point," she says. "Senshi lying in wait can dive right in and go for the driver, while we take care of the others," she suggests, thoughtfully. "How's that sound? We steal two cheap cars in the area, crash them into each other in front of the Citymaster. A random accident."

Posh nods. "How does that sound, as as a way to pull off your roadblock idea?" she asks Bull. "I was thinking you and I would be the two drivers." She nods. "Actually, come to think of it, the van is well hardened. We could likely stage the accident with the van as one of the vehicles. That puts it right in position for the getaway, and we only have to steal one car - and we don't have to find one with a seat for you, Mr. Bull," she says, with a grin.

«Auto-Judge[]» Bull (#4176) rolls Security Systems:
5 10 14

Bull squints a bit. "Taking them without killing them is goin' to be a hell of a lot harder, even if it makes them less pissed." He admits, shaking his head slightly. "In the event of a collision like that, the principle vehicle is going to bug out faster then a cracked out slitch that got paid, and we'll be left dealing with one of the now pissed off sec vehicles, more then likely." He grunts. "Do we know the composition of the convoy? You said a few citymasters? Or is just the one?"

Posh shakes her head. "It's just the one," she says. "It's not carrying super valuable gear, just computer parts and such. So we're likely to be dealing with low security response," she says. "I mean, there are regular little accidents all the time in the city, right? If we crashed into their vehicle, I'm sure that's what would happen, right?" she asks. "Few jobs of this type attempt to steal the /vehicle/ itself, and I doubt they really expect someone to try to steal the shipment they're carrying."

Bull relaxes back, "If its just the one citymaster, then yeah." He agrees, glancing over to Krieg for her input.
Posh nods. "Dean informed me that the estimated value of the shipment is around seventy thousand, all in computer equipment and optical memory chips," she says. "That stuff is common as dirt. The Citymaster transport is probably just intended as deterrence at that level, right?" she asks. "I mean, if I've got the wrong idea here, heh, that's what I'm counting on you for," she says. "Does the vision make sense to you, given your experience? A random accident in front of a non-expensive shipment, angry drivers, et cetera?" she asks. "I mean, I'll be able to sell it rather well. You just be the strong, silent troll being bitched out by the entitled elf," she says.

Krieg nods slowly listening to them plan., everything seems prompt and relivant thus far. She starts to adjust her gear as the discussion continues. "I beleive it is possible, with a single target vehicle. The citymaster will be relatively immune to basic damage from collisions with smaller vehicles. If the accident does not seem overtly aggressive, and the occpant of the vehicle does not pose an immediate threat to them it is unlikely they will escilate." She rubs her nose for a momment. " Impacting the vehicle itself in a minor 'fender bender' paint transfer would be beleiveable if the stolen vehicle is an older model that commonly does not have advanced autonav."

Posh nods. "The idea that I had was this. Instead of hitting /them/ with a car, which would be more likely to spook them as Bull says, we stage an accident, with the van, and a stolen car, in front of them," she clarifies. "It will block the road and then we will be angry drivers demanding the attention of witnesses. When they get out to tell us to move it the frak along, that's when we go for them."

"However, even without cameras, we're likely to have an audience," she says. "So the quality of our disguises will be very important."

Bull snorts softly. 'I should be able to pull of that roll well enough then." He says with a slight tilt of his head, glancing towards Krieg then back towards Posh. "Hell, I've already got a stolen truck." He says with a shrug, "But I can see the advantage of stealing a different car."

Krieg ponders, "And if they are not willing to care for such and encounter and simply drive around the accident?"

Posh gives a grin to Bull. "Yeah, but that's your Warrens wagon, right? It's a little tough to get it in and out of there, if I'm not mistaken. Remind me to talk to you about transponder chips, sometime - after all, there's unlikley to be an APB on that thing," she says, thoughtfully. "Well, Krieg. I don't know," she replies. "The basic problem with a city job is yeah, we could stop the vehicle, slow them, but it's awfully hard to beat the strategy unless we could somehow open up." She thinks for a moment. "Is there a chance we could follow them, and you could break into their comms channel before the accident, so that you could spoof instructions to them, for how they should deal with the accident?" she asks. "That might help twist things our way a bit better."

"If they do ignore it, we just go plan B and I hose down the driver. I mean, I'm not opposed to ventilating the guy if I have to. Gel rounds ain't gonna go through the windows." Bull points.

Posh chuckles a bit at Bull. "That's a good point, but just hosing down the driver is just as hard unless a window's rolled down, right?" she asks. "A Citymaster's a hardened vehicle, with cameras on the outside and screens on the inside, more than it has windows," she says. "But wait a minute." She thinks for a moment. "I wonder if there were a way that a stopped Citymaster could be disabled from below, with a tool laser," she ponders. "I think we can get the Citymaster to at least stop with the staged accident. And hard to drive around. But we need a real…real push that will tease them from their vehicle, instead of just buttoning up and waiting for the cavalry." She considers. "Response time in the area is…15 minutes or less," she says, thoughtfully.

"With what we know, which route would you both like to take. There are many options and it is possible that they will attempt to assist if the encounter appears to be in their favor to. Perhaps if one of the incidents members asks for help, out of fear for their safely." Krieg notes and continues to adjust her gear. "The inclusion of some factors like that can increase the intensity of the encounter, and with proper acting may be able to coax a response with greater efficiency."

Bull nods his head to Posh, "That sounds like it could work." He muses, shrugging his shoulders. "If Krieg can break the comms, and fake their 'dispatch', that'd be real helpful." he agrees, looking over to Krieg and listening.

She nods. "All right. So that we add to the plan. We need to get to the area - we only have a little more than a couple hours. We have to steal a car of opportunity. Senshi will go in hiding, while Krieg will attempt to locate and jam the comms," she says. "I'll be driving the secondary car; Bull, you'll be in the van, as it's a metahuman model and you'll draw less specific attention coming out of it," she says. "No need to say much. Just be the quietly suffering troll being yelled at by the privileged elf," she says. "The more we both fit the stereotype, the better we'll do."

Posh gives a grin at Krieg. "An excellent innovation," she says. "After I chew you out, do you mind…heh, taking a step forward on me? Then I'll be damsel in distress," she says. "That might be just the thing to…lure them out a bit," she says. "Oh, oh please! Help me from the big bad troggo!"

"As a bonus, if it works, we can feel even less bad about rebound rounding them in the face," she suggests. "Sometimes, the most satisfying profits are those that take advantage of the stereotypes of fools."

Bull snorts. "Looking intimidating, I think I can do." He says dryly, before nodding to Posh. "Sure. I'll look menacing at you. See if they want to rescue you."

"It won't be the first pot that I've been the honey for," Posh says with a grin to Bull. "All right, let's move out, I suppose…we'll get to the area with the camera interruptions and start looking for an Americar." She frowns a bit. "Maybe I should look for an Elite. More elfin, ya?"

"I agree, this allows us to relies on your individual strengths and the social norms of the area." Krieg nods. "We will need to tail them for some time, for em to access their comms network. It is unliekly they will be able to detect intrusion unless I actively broadcast before knowing their protocols."

Bull inclines his head, "Ready when you both are." He says quietly, glancing over towards Posh and rolling his hand slightly in the air. "Likely an elite, yeah. Fits better."

Posh nods. "All right, then," she says. "Drop me off and I'll look for an Elite to steal," she says. "Bull, you'll be driving the van: there's datajack access and Krieg can help direct you. Krieg can likely jack into the taccoomm and such to also have access," she says. "We've got about an hour or so, now, which gives me plenty of time to look for a car too boost, and you to head over to and drive around." She nods. "I've updated the most likely route here, but there's a chokepoint between two massive warehouse and production facilities, so you're almost guaranteed to be able to pick them up if you keep your eyes peeled for a Citymaster in Reliant Security livery," she says, as the van pulls to a stop and she hops out. "All right! See you…well, when I smack into you," she says to Bull.

Bull would drive off with Krieg in tow, waiting near the checkpoint for the citymaster, cruising the streets casually in that area until he comes across it, while remaining in radio contact with Posh just in case they need to arrange the collision.

With Bull taking the wheel Krieg's able to focus on other activities. She quickly pre-flgiht checks her bumbles and hands them to Senshi to disperse outside the door. Once they link and slowly begin their programmed follow and search routines she goes about Scanning per their plan.

Instead of trying to defeat the lock mechanism, Posh instead uses a slim metal conductor, attached to her tool laser, to literally try to break the latch on the door. Her plan is to just hold the door closed as she drives. Once she enters the vehicle, she brings her purse in and closes it, starting to work quickly to try to gain control.

Having broken into the vehicle's control setup in the Elite, Posh then seeks out the transponder chip, to attempt to program a quick number of spoofs that would be ready.

«Plot» Posh says, "Based on the intermittent approach of the signal strength, you have a total of approximately 20-25 minutes."

There are of course dozens of other comm channels and the like in the area, including even security grade ones. None have the mix of multiple channels from the same immediate vicinity, all matching in signal strength, that are also headed, based on signal analysis, to the location you are headed.

Posh eases the Elite into gear, pulling it out of its parking space. "Hmm, not bad," she thinks to herself, as the car smoothly eases its way into the light traffic of the B-Zone. Posh considers future getaway vehicles as she heads over towards not a direct, but a nearby closedezvous with the van.

«Plot» Posh says, "Electronics test, TN 6 for this one."

The Bumble drones have split up, one climbs atop the van and clings to it in preperation for a departure later, the other keeps rising to a higher elevation and begins slwoly making it's way towards the signal source to retreive a visual.

<Plot» Posh says, "Does not interrupt attempt to isolate frequency. It is only processing of data received in the course of that."

The Bumblebees see nothing too surprising - a Citymaster caught in stop-start traffic about a kilometer away. The visual analysis of movement combined with the analysis of the intermittently increasing signal strength reveals that the vehicle is likely to arrive 14 minutes from now, with the specific frequency already pinned down, but not yet decrypted.

Krieg is busy in her handlings with the Expert systems, but she need only guide them and direct when requested. She remains in the passanger seat for the momment and looks over to Bull. "Mr. Bull, have you meet anyone interesting as of late in your adventures here?"

Bull considers, before shaking his head. "Haven't had many adventures lately.' Bull rumbles softly, "Most of them you were on anyway." He says with a grin, glancing behind himself before looking forwards to the road again.

"I suppose that is true, Senshi and I have been present for numerous encounters with you to date." Krieg nods a bit and watches the Vans external monitors as they drive. Her DNI activities being conducted with great care, yet out of site. "So, what is it about this place that keeps you here?"

"Moneys good." Bull says with a shrug, "La Ravagers got killed or quit, so didn't have a group to run with. Posh' group is good enough to keep me paid, equipped, and coming back. She can bring a team together. So here I am."

«Plot» Posh says, "Ratting is R4 taccom. That means R4 decryption."

The vehicle beings to move closer. Krieg is able to identify and start to unscramble the comm channel; approximately 4 minutes later, with 10 minutes to go, she is able to pick up and stream to the team bored discussion of last night's episode of 'Real Housewives of Combat Bikers,' as well as repeated curses to 'dragging this orkbutted wagon through traffic.'

'Come on, let's cut through the B Zone,' it's heard: precisely according to the tipoff. "We can skip around this traffic and get to happy hour faster." Apparently this pattern of relaxation in security has happened before: no doubt Krieg has found valuable information that confirms the value of the tip.

Krieg perks sleightly when she begins to hear the Comm chatter in her head. It takes her a momment but she quickly sub-links it as a slaved receive only on our own TacComms, leaving the transmit protected for the momment in cse of accidntal activation.

Commlink-Krieg> Krieg sends, « I beleive this is our target vehicle. »

Commlink-Bull> Bull sends, « Okay. Moving in to intercept and get ahead. Posh, you ready to hit me? »

Krieg does glance over to Bull for a momment, "I beleive your reasoning to be logical." She then goes back to paying more attention to her Command Chair feeds from the drones as she slips out of her seat to the back of the van as to not alert anyone when Bull gets out.

«You've got it, big guy»

A few more minutes pass, the traffic clearing as the Citymaster takes a sweep off into the B zone. At least for perfunctory reasons, it seems, the turret makes a sweep around, offering a deterring gun to the world, but…it's not very serious, given the ongoing chatter revealing boredom and low operational awareness that Krieg hears. They are dependent on their vehicle to protect them, and in this case, it will be the metahuman weakness.

Bull skillfully steers the van at city traffic speeds to a 'perfect' accidental collision with the lightrunning Elite, spinning it just a bit, the van's sturdy construction leaving it with only a scuff on the paint, while there's a serious dent in the quarter panel on the Americar.

Immediately, Posh is out of the vehicle, all disguised up in her brunette, speaking fast Spanish and Nahuatl in apparent anger.

"Don't you have any idea where you were driving? Stupid iiiidiot in a big stupid van! Why you got to do this? I will sue! My husband's a lawyer! My boyfriend's a lawyer!"

Bull seems pleased with smacking into the ass end of Posh' vehicle. When she comes out all yelling and angry, the massive 'taur /slowly/ gets out of the vehicle, lumbering his large height over to stare down at the impudent elf in her fancy vehicle. His arms fold over his chest as he just /looms/. For the moment, at least. He bears the brunt of her tirade.

The Citymaster apparently skids to a halt, to avoid colliding with the accident scene.

Krieg, who has control of the radio channel, hears the chatter. «Looks like we've got an accident right ahead of us…nothing suspicious, some spoiled brat…and shit, there's a troggo. Looks angry, too. Seems like she might be in a little trouble.»

As soon as Bull seems there, ready to loom, Posh suddenly steps back. "What?! No! I…" She shakes her head. "I'm too pretty to die! Don't eat me, devil!" she gasps out, running towards the citymaster.

«Hey look, we've gotta do something here.»

The back doors of the Citymaster pop open, and two troopers in security armor with shotguns start to tramp out.

FREEZE. EVERYONE. NOW.» The Citymaster's turret swivels towards the scene as well, the back doors of the crew/cargo compartment left open as the two survey the scene. They start to approach somewhat warily, somewhat arrogantly, not quite aiming their shotguns, both of them focusing on Bull, eager to be the hero. Seems like Reliant hires a couple of the good ol' boys.

"Now, we don't need any problems here, amirite?" says one of them, a big, beefy overfed guy in his security armor, who racks his shogun menacingly.

comm Remember…this one's…erm…nonlethal.
Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « Remember…this one's…erm…nonlethal. »

Bull lumbers after Posh, "Fuckin' run ye god damne dknife ear slitch! Oh sure, brought a fucking army with you?" He throws his arms out to the side as she flees, approaching the shotgun wearing security guards and the turreted city master with a casual sort of amble that shows he really doesn't think they are going to bother him. Or lets him get into melee range, one or the other. When the two men approach and rack their shotguns, Bull just turns smoldering eyes on them. "The fuck you just say?"

Commlink-Bull> Bull sends, « They are in sec armor. Non-lethal? »

Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « Yeah…you're loaded rebound right? »

As the hatch is opened as the two security guards are outside, Posh glances back. "Please…please help me from the big bad mean thing!" she sees the opportunity, the attentions of the guards directed, and she knows the fastest of them is the armored battle engine.

Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « Senshi, might want to get in there! »

«Plot» Posh says, "Combat Scene Set: Bull is looming over Posh while two beefy security guys from the truck start trying to invervene, the Citymaster's turret training on them. The Citymaster is stopped and blocked by the scene of the accident in front of it, so nobody can presently see into it, as its back doors had popped open and the guards had come around. The van itself is only about 8 meters all told from the citymaster itself; a 12 meter run would place anyone in view of the Citymaster's interior from those back doors."

«Plot» Posh says, "So, when you enter the back, you can see the gunner, inside the vehicle, his lowerhalf exposed as he stands on the turret mount. The turret is not enclosd from the inside. You can also see, perhaps for convenience of checking on cargo, that the vehicle's driving compartment is open to the cargo/passenger compartment. Clearly, it seems that there is high end mountainerring and orientation gear: as if this is a delivery to some sort of botique extreme sports outfitter, all commercial stuff, but some of the very best."

«Plot» Posh says, "There are quite clearly some packages of datasofts and some high end cybeware and computer mapping parts associated with it; perhaps this was the source of the information of the tipoff about computer parts and chips - there are, after all, computer parts and chips in there."

Senshi manages to nearly incapacitate the rigger, and the Citymaster begins to move, but almost drunkenly, staggering, and then rolling to a stop as the jumped out Rigger unsteadily jacks out, his eyes opening and he screams, seeing a battle engine punching him in the face as the pain from his body wounds floods in as hee jumps out of his vehicle. But Senshi's already whirling throughout the Citymaster like an angry bee, bashing cruelly into the gunner and knocking him out right in his station, before likely returning to finish the rigger…lucky for him there's no murder on Senshi's mind. Hopefully.

Posh opens the side door via datajack control. There seem to be a few packets associated with the extreme sports computer gear and chips: map datasofts, orientation ware, high-end climbing kits. Four big suitcases, pretty much.

As they swiftly complete loading Senshi enters the van to leave.
