Nina and Naomi have planned a joint AQ; having talked about it for some time, Nina heads on over to Naomi's place for the excursion.

Naomi opens the door to her place at Mountain Hills once Nina arrives and greets her, already dressed in the short robe she wears for her astral trips. She leads the way into the bedroom where she has her lodge set up, a collection of irish pieces of art, largely focused around the one to whom her lodge is dedicated, Morrigan. The floor is mostly covered with a decorative rug, decorated with a circular pattern made from elaborate irish knot designs, and Naomi walks to the center to take a seat, gesturing to some nearby pillows. "I wasn't sure exactly how you typically prepare for this sort of thing, so I got some pillows for you," she explains as her own ally, Primrose, fades into being beside her, ready to watch over while they are out of body.

«Plot» Naomi has a F6 Increase Reflexes sustained, and her ally Primrose will also be watching over them.

Nina seems pleased with the preparations and lodge and as always filled with honor to spend time with her friend, "This looks perfect. If you do not mind.. may I have Trinity come within your lodge to offer healing if needed to our bodies as well?"

Nina preps by casting Nutrition on herself for this may take a few days time. As well, she casts Fast on herself, though in the astral world she will not feel her bodies hunger pains, she does so as a perk of knowing such a delightful spell.

Getting comfortable, Nina takes off her shoes and puts her purse to the side and gets the pillows ready for a comfortable platform to lean against and a nice fluffy one for under her butt.

Naomi nods to the question, adjusting to sit cross-legged and facing Nina as she makes herself comfortable. "Certainly, she's welcome to join iyou and watch, if you like. Primrose will be doing the same for me. They'll have something to do while we're out in the metaplanes." She's already long accustomed to using Nutrition, and she doesn't let the mild sensations of hunger bother her.

Placing her spear across her lap, she puts her hands on her knees and works on finding her balance while she watches Nina make herself comfortable.

Nina gets comfortable and then looks over to Naomi with a nod, "Ready."

And then she slips into the astral world to join up with Naomi.

Naomi doesn't take long to find her center, slippin gout of her body with her spear collapsed and scurely against the small of her back. She gives Nina's astral form a smile, then waves to the pair of ally spirits. "Let's be off, then." And with that, she slips off towards the Threshold.

** GM Nina **
Naomi and Nina speed of through the astral towads the Threshold, not a specific remembered place on the planet.. but an instinctual pull to the doorway to the beyond. A place between places the two glance at each other a moment, both feeling an instinct that is taking them to the same location. Looking back to where they were going they suddenly both realize they are not moving at all but floating in nothinness and a black inky void but still able to see each other clearly.

Looking around the two discover an old desert tent errected a short distance off with long ropes securing the poles coming down to stake into the black voidless floor that seems to form under their feet as they think about it.

Out of the tent a man steps whose face and head is wrapped in scarves while he is wearing flowing light weight desert garb (Think saudi desert dweller). The man's eyes are a peircing blue with a nose and brow well tanned as he observes the two ladies who have approached his desert dwelling.

The man looks at Nina with a studying gaze, "So… you intend to create another ally spirit to join Trinity, are you so concerned you are unable to handle the threats of Denver without more help?"

Nina glances to Naomi and then back to the dweller, "I have nothing to hide from Naomi, she is a dear friend."

The dweller chuckles at Nina, "I am all that you can never become Nina, the dirt upon my sandles offer more magical ability than you will ever rise to."

Nina narrows her gaze in stuborn anger and grows quiet.

The dweller then turns his attention to Naomi, "So.. Princess, I see you have returned yet again. You have an inexhaustible thirst for the astral and its revelations I see. I am curious if you are meant more for the astral world than you are for your mundane shell. Perhaps you should shed the shell of your body and join the astral permanently?"

The dweller doesn't give enough time for Naomi to respond before he speaks agian, "Or.. do you busy yourself with enchanting and with astral quests because you want to reduce the chance of people drawing you into conversation and discovering what's going on with you and Smoke?"

** GM Nina **
Nina's secret: Not the true name.. but the fact that she is planning another ally spirit soon.

Naomi crosses her arms as the Dweller addresses her, shaking her head. "Maybe I'll join the astral, some day, but I'm far from ready for something like that. I have time. And you already know what's going on, so I'm not discussing it with you. So, would you be so kind as to show us just which way we should be going, so we can find what we are looking for?" She does give him a bit of a glare, but she does prefer to keep things relatively polite.

The dweller approaches Naomi and pulls up the cloth robes over his left arm to show an inflamed and infected looking arm, "You may pass through the tent beyond and be on your way, if you are able to tell me what medical condition (OOC: Roll Medicine, TN 5) has inflicted my arm."

As he nears Naomi he looks over to Nina, "Muse," using her street name, "You may pass through into the tent if you can read me the wording on the label near the tent stake on the lower right portion of the tent from your current location." (OOC: Perception vs TN 5).

Nina hmms and then turns her gaze to the label and narrows her eyes, squinting a bit to read the label aloud, "Manufactured in.. none of your business?" She chuckles at the label while the dweller gives her a smile and nods his permission to continue to her.

Naomi makes a bit of a face, seeing the rather infected arm. "It looks like you've been bitten by something toxic. I'd guess some sort of snake, given the environs. Also, you've been a little over exposed. You should use sunscreen and get some anitvenom."

The dweller nods to Naomi and as he does his arm instantly heals and he lowers his sleeve on his robes, "You both may proceed," and he steps back and to the side while giving them a nod.

Nina glances to Naomi and then to the dweller and moves toward the tent, ready to pass through with Naomi.

Naomi nods to the Dweller and smiles. "Thank you. Be careful out here. The desert is full of hidden dangers." She walks forward, holding the flap of the tent aside for Nina to enter, following right behind her.

** GM Nina **
Passing through the tent, Naomi and Nina are temporarily blinded by the blazing light of the sun above.. actually.. it looks like two suns. The heat must be easily 120 degrees Fehrenheit and as their eyes begin to adjust they see a multitude of mingling people milling about in a very busy dirt/sand covered ground of a bustling desert city of ancient days long past. No towering buildings, no paved streets, no neon signs. It looks like a land stuck back in the 1850's of the Wild West somewhere in Nevada or Arizona territories. Except.. those two suns above.

And… some sort of big flying bus passes overhead with a whine of turbines like a VTOL aircraft as it flies on out of view across the town.

Naomi steps out of the tent and into the sun, her form much more physical than just moments before, now dressed in grey leather, knee-high boots, pants, and long jacket over a matching corset, all in similar tones. She puts one hand up to shield her eyes from the twin suns and blowing sands. "Well, this is not really what I was expecting. Busy place. I suppose we'll have to go look around for somethingthat seems… right."

Nina steps out of the tend and into the dual-sun world, finding herself dressed in tan slacks, a green t-shirt, a cowboy hat and a dark brown duster longcoat. She takes a look around with a grin and then a long intake of breath, "Damn.. it's like insane hot.. maybe this is just a test of how much exhausting heat we can endure? If it is.. you're right.. taking a look around can't hurt."

As the two ladies depart the tent, Nina sort of falling back a half step to follow Naomi's lead on where to go the two ladies on occassion hear a Chinese sounding phrase, normally at moments when someone is upset or creating an explitive at someone else.

Ahead there seems to be some rucus down a side alley. A market place is in this area with chickens in wooden cages, sheet metal sided shacks as vendor booths, another vendor is selling what looks like revolvers but with some type of blue energy batter packs. It's a bit like old tinkertown or perhaps the Souk Marketplace. The people are made up of about every race of person.. but strangely.. no metahumans seem to be around, no orks, no elves, to trolls or dwarves.

Ahead at the edge of the market though a rucus of some sort seems to be drawing attention as people stop and look towards the mod-like yells in that direction.

Naomi takes note of the human-centric appearance of the area, adjusting her hair a bit to cover her ears, mostly, just in case someone might take offense. "I don't think they'd put us in the middle of a marketplace for that. We'd probably be wandering around, looking for an oasis or something. It is hot, though. I guess people just get used to it, though, given how they're all dressed."

With the sounds of a ruckus coming from the edge of the market, she looks to Nina, then points in that direction. "If I were to hazard a guess, that's probably the most exciting thing going on. Let's go check that out and see what happens." She starts to head in that direction at a reasonably quick pace.

Nina nods in agreement to Naomi and moves along with her friend. An occassional heap of stray dog poop must take care not to be stepped upon in the path, a group of three kids scamper past and Naomi spots one of them filtch a pouch off a man that they bump into.
A group four men seem to be on patrol, dark uniforms and very 'non-desert' garb with armored look and very modern looking assault rifles/SMGs like styles. They have a patch on their chest that looks like: http://postimg.org/image/unxl234rn/

As Naomi and Nina get more near the rucus it turns down a side alley and now it's shoulder to shoulder like a rock concert on the lawn and it takes some effort to get far enough forward to see and hear what is going on.

Naomi and Nina gets a "feeling" that the situation needs to be dealt with via Charisma (spell/skill/ability) Enoughy Astral Quests and a certain 6th sense has developed in what is expected at certain times.

Naomi continues walking and avoiding the various hazards of the road, poop and children. The armed and armored patrol catches her eye, looking away before she's starting too long. "Well, this is an interesting place. I'd have thought old time, if not for the things flying overhead and those security types.

Reaching the ruckus, Naomi takes a moment to look at the massive crowd, looking back to Nina for a moment. "Looks like we're going to have to slip through. Just like a club. Just try to stick together." With that, she starts to push her way through, with a mix of grace and the attitude of one who deserves to be in front of these people.

Naomi and Nina note that the security force seems aloof, they witness a pickpocket and do nothing, an obvious mob situation is devloping down the alley Naomi and Nina are moving deeper into and the patrol walk past without the slightest interest at disarming any type of developing riot. Much perhaps, like a Corporate security team not caring about local issues if it is not affecting the company profit margin.

Naomi and Nina are able to make it through the thick crowd rather nicely, firm at times, appologetic at others as they read the emotions of the others and react with skill to get past and to the front of the crowd.

The man has a pistol on his hip but he has now drawn it from its holster. He also has a very large knife on a sheath on his upper thigh of his right leg. The man is arguing with four men in the crowd that seem to be leading the mob's anger.

The man in the green military jacket argues, "I tell you… I did NOT sleep with the mayor's daughter. Mind you.. I wouldn't have turned her down if she wanted to join me in my bunk.. but I didn't…."

He is interupted by the mob screaming at him and throwing some fruit at him when he admits he would be willing to bed the mayor's daughter.

Note: That 6th Sense again comes upon Naomi and Nina as if they know they need to disarm the mob and get this man free of the threat.

Naomi gestures for Nina to follow as she pushes through the crowd towards the four men that seem to be leading the rowdyness. "But, you are right, in that we can't let him anywhere near the mayor's home. So, why don't I just escort him back to his… ship?" She turns to look at him for a moment, then back to the crowd. "So you can all get on with what you were doing."

Was going to have him use KP to get more successes and reroll.. but not enough dice to do that.

Nina nods to Naomi's speech and steps out from the group into the more open area between the man and the mob, making herself less mob and more intercesory like Naomi is doing. She watches Naomi deal with one of the instigators/leaders of the angery group of men and as Naomi calms him down (Naomi to make her own pose on how she does that).

It's then that one of the other men start to get feisty when he sees that the boiling rage of the crowd might be disarmed and he steps forward, "Now listen here.. we.."

But, that's when Nina steps in and speaks to herself in some strange language (Enochian) and as she does she is looking at the man. In the mob there is a lot of yelling to her talking isn't even heard by anyone that isn't standing right next to her. (Casting F6 Influence on Leader #2).

"Why should we believe him, huh?" The man starts to rebuke. Naomi smiles sweetly at him, a shimmering of red noticable for a moment in her hair as she moves, but it's probably just a trick of the light. Regardless, the man pauses his angry retort, thenconsiders for amoment. "Yeah… actually, you're probably right. Guys like him are pretty quick to brag. Get him out of here, before he causes more trouble. Go!" He swings his arms, gesturing for them to leave.

Naomi nods. "I'm glad you can see reason. We'll take care of him, don't worry." She turns and puts one hand on the man with the green jacket, tugging slightly. "Come on, you. Let's go." She gives him a quick wink and waits for Nina to join her before leading him away.

The other instigator pauses in his retort as the other leader sees logic and reason and calms down and the words of his own rage seem suddenly to be baseless and senseless in his own mind and not worth making such a big rukus about in front of everyone. He grows mum and steps back into the mob.

Nina seems to be pleased with the result of her spell and then moves to the other side of Jayne and escorts him out of the area with Naomi.

As the three get away from the mob and they are not followed they step into another alley as if Jayne knows where he's going. When they are alone he looks at both of them and grins wide, a leering and lustful sort of look, "Well.. today is turning out better than I had planned? Which one of you is going to be on top?"

Naomi chuckles for a moment, shaking her head at Jayne. "Well, at least you can keep a positive outlook. You're welcome. So, what did you actually do to get a whole mob after you? It's a fairly impressive accomplishment, really." She looks to Nina for a moment, then back to him. "And I'd be on top, were it to come to that. Maybe when we're done. You are pretty good looking. But, business before pleasure."

Nina chuckles at the question and Naomi's response, walking with the other two down the alley.

Jayne seems encouraged by Naomi's open mind for the future and it seems to spur him to moving on with what is at hand; in hopes for treasure at the end of the day, "Honestly I was minding my own business… for the most part. But when they start asking the right people the right questions.. in time they're really going to want to kill me for something completely different. I'm .. well.. a bit concerned that since the two of you helped me… um.. escape. They might be coming after you too. It might be good for you to come with the crew on our ship and ride along to the next planet… for your own safety."

Coming out of the end of the alley a wide exspanse of a place opens up with large shipping containers marking the walls of a place about 1000 meters x 1000 meters (1 km x 1 km). In this open space there, what appear to be, several space ships landed and loading and unloading supplies and landing or taking off. It's a busy place with hand cards and ATV's with small wagons pulling equipment and supplies as the ships are restocking and delivering goods.

As Jayne gets to this point he stops and turns and a man in a long brown longcoat and a dark skinned women walk up the ramp and into the cargo area and keep walking, not paying any attention to Naomi and Nina yet.

Jayne turns to the two ladies, "Okay.. well, I'm going to need to talk to the Captain to make sure it's okay for you to come along… you both good with the idea of not being strung up by a mob?"

Naomi follows along as she listens, nodding and glancing to Nina again. "Well, we aren't particularly tied to this place. We have everything important with us as it is, so we can certainly skip town. They may or may not stop to rethink what we said, but no point in risking it."

Stopping at the base of the ramp to let Jayne go talk with the thers, she moves closer to Nina. "This is quite a place. It's like the future but… not." She stands up straight again as Jayne returns. "I've never been a fan of being strung up. By a mob, at least. I'm sure your captain will be agreeable to taking along a couple passengers for a little trip, given the circumstances. Let's go talk to him."

Nina looks around with curious amazement, after all real live space ships are pretty mindblowing. The one they are getting into reminds her of a rusty old farm tractor.. but it must be safe.. right?

Jayne unzips his jacket and takes it off as he returns to the ladies, "The captain said he'd like to meet the both of you in the cafeteria… if you won't mind." He asks/motions for Naomi and Nina to follow him into the cargo hold.

As they get up into the cargo hold a cute human lady in a in mechanic overalls wearing a festive blue dress shirt over it and sporting a rainbow paper umbrella presses a button and the rear cargo door starts to raise up and a pair of heavy blast/space doors starts to close shut from the sides to meet in the middle. Back in Denver, she'd likely be the mechanic.. maybe a rigger? She is full of smiles and has a happiness about her that is infectious. It's as if sunshine was bottled up and fed to a bunny rabbit just looking into her eyes.

Jayne passes by the mechanic, "Kaylee.. these.. um.. " Jayne stops and looks at Naomi and Nina, "You two got names?"

Naomi nods to Jayne's suggestion. "Lead the way, then. We don't want to keep you or get you off schedule." She follows up the ramp, looking over the the bundle of happiness dressed like a mechanic. "I'm Naomi. This is Nina. We helped your friend here out of a little misunderstanding…" She looks to Jayne. "I don't think we caught your name, either."

Kaylee seems super excited to meet the two new ladies on the ship and she collaspses her paper umbrella and tucks it under an arm and then extends her right hand to Naomi and then Nina in turn, "I am Kaylee, I'm the ships mechanic. It's so very exciting to have you on the ship."
After handshakes and greetings, Jayne offers, "I'm Jayne.. now enough jibber-jabber," he starts walking down the long length of the huge cargo bay towards a ships portal at the far end under the workings of some metal criss-crossing stairs and landings at the end of the cargo hold that go up above and along the length and appear to go up to a couple platforms high on the cargo walls at the other end of the huge room.

There are crates tied down to hooks in the floor, pallets and all manner of cargo that looks like they are being paid to take from one planet to another for whatever profit you can get for cargoing freight from one world to the next.

Kaylee walks with the three until she gets to the metal stairway and then she speaks, "I have to get up and make sure the engine is ready for takeoff, I look forward to being able to talk with you both later."

Jayne presses on as if its important. He's a bit of a pushy asshole.

Nina shakes Kaylee's hand, her personality infectious she can't help but feel revived emotionally as they greet. Nina turns then Jayne starts to lead the way across the cargo hold, taking note of various things and positions of things in the cargo area; it's a maze of sizes of boxes wooden and milspec type as well as common gunny sacks with grains.. about as random are a warehouse can be.

Naomi shakes hands with Kaylee when she offers, giving her a bright smile. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Kaylee. It's a nice ship you have here. Looks like you are doing an excellent job of things." She continues walking as Jayne leads the way, waving to Kaylee again as she heads down to the engine. "Well, we'll be here until at least the next stop. Should be plenty of time. We'd better talk to the captain, though." She picks up the pace a little, crouching down just a bit as she goes through the various doorways, clearly not built for people of elvish height.

Jayne leads the way up the stairs and Kaylee is following along right beind Nina. The stairs go into a bit of an enclosed hallway and turn to the left, a landing, another turn to the left as the stairs go up and then the four find themselves in a hallway with a metal grid floor. To the left a strange engine looking contraption is in what looks like an engine room and Kaylee heads in that direction with a wave and she actually skips as she departs.
To the right the hallway continues and opens up into what looks like a large room with a long wooden table surrounded by mismatched chairs.

Jayne leads the way into the cafeteria and a group of people are waiting there in what looks like might be a boardroom setting.. as if to grill and question the two new stow-aways.

Stairs on upper level of catwalk to the right are the stairs Jayne led us up.

Naomi stops just a few steps into the doorway of the room, looking over the gathered group with a slight grin. "Well, I didn't expect a whole inquisition waiting for us. But, it's your ship, so we can do this however you like. We aren't hiding anything. I'm Naomi, this is Nina. Jayne suggested it might be safer for us if we came along to your next destination."

The dark skinned lady seems very professional, almost ex-military and she nods but says nothing. The dark skinned man on the left looks like a priest of sorts and he has a big smile and an accepting non-judgemental look on his face. The lady in the purple dress behind the priest looks almost Naomi's equal in etiquette and social graces and she offers a very warm smile in greeting.
Behind the military lady the man behind her seems a bit of a goof.. like humor is his 'thing' Welcome to Serenity.. I heard you saved Jayne from a hanging.. happens on nearly every planet we go to."
Jayne plops down in a chair and reaches over to a cup/drink and takes a sip, "Everyone is always a critic."

The last man, the man standing behind Jayne looks like the guy that came in earlier with the long browncoat, he stands with his arms over his chest, "Jayne explains what you done for him and we take care of our own. You put your neck out for one of ours so as far as I'm concerned you earned yourself a ride to our next stop. It's a long ride though so I hope you don't mind a couple week ride. We'll be lifting off soon," he glances to the humor guy who nods (ah.. humor guy must be the pilot).
The captain offers introductions around the room, "Here is Shepard Book, Inara, Wash, Zoe, I'm Mal and this is Jayne. I hear you have met Kaylee already. We have to more crew members that are not here.. Simon is our ships doctor and his sister River. They are below deck in the medical bay taking care of some business."

Nina listens and seems excited at all of this, so much to take in, new people, adventure.. this is better than a Simsense ride.

«OOC» Nina says, "I am thinking.. this is the real -foundation- for the Firefly AQ. We will move along with the outline and such but it's taking longer because of introductions and being in locations for the first time takes explination. As we go on we won't need to re-explain what the room looks like, etc. So this AQ will be a bit lengthy. but.. .perhaps future joint AQ's will be Firefly based (when Nina is with you)… We link up with the crew for a 'mission' which is the AQ. :)"

Naomi looks around as introductions happen, smiling to each person. "It's a pleasure to meet you all. We appreciate the consideration. A couple weeks isn't really a problem. We'll try to keep out of your way along the way. We're not experts on running a ship like this, so the last thing we'd want to do is keep you from taking care of everything. So… is there anything we should do, or…?"

Mal nods, "I'll let you talk to the Shepherd and Inara and find out what your skills are and where you can lend a hand and be an asset rather than a liabilty," the Captain seems very straight forward and plain speaking, without frills and social graces.

Inara and Shepherd seem like the great pick to get to know first anyway.

Wash gets up and then does Zoe as well, he offers, "Alright then, I'll get up to the Bridge and do pre-flight checks."
Zoe nods, "I'll make sure the ship is secure for takeoff and everything is strapped down tight.

Jayne takes a sip of his drink and seems like he has no real purpose.

Mal takes a step forward and uncrosses his arms, "The both of you need to stay here in the Galley or in the quarters room you will be shown to by Shepherd Book here. You are not allowed back in the cargo hold again during travel or in the engine room or ahead in the bridge. It will not be a luxurious two weeks but you will be comfortable, your personal quarters are clean; though small. Meals will be provide here in the galley three times a day. We ask that you do not snack between meals, we must ration our supplies."

Nina listens and watches as people start to move and plan and the life of the ship starts to take place. She is eager to find out where she might step in and help the crew.

Naomi nods to the captain. "Got it. Stay out of the engine room, cargo hold, and bridge. Shouldn't be a problem. We can manage with some slightly tight quarters for a couple weeks. We've had worse. And I tend to eat pretty lightly anyway. We'll work out something to keep us occupied with Shepherd and Inara."

The crew gets up and departs and starts going about their business.

Wash heads up to the bridge.
Zoe departs towards the cargo hold.
Mal goes forward towards the crew quarters.
Jayne remains sitting and looking at Naomi and Nina's curves and portions with a lustful desire. Perv.

Inara and Shepherd motion for Naomi and Nina to join them acorss the table on the right side where Wash and Zoe had been sitting previously.

Inara sits as well and seems pleased with having new members to the family, if even temporarily, "So," she looks to both ladies, "What are the skills that you think you could help us with the most?"

Shepherd gets up and moves to the kitchen, "May I make all us a pot of tea?"

Jayne grunts.

Inara smiles her approval to the Priest's offer and Shepherd starts to work in the kitchen.

When the conversation permits without interupting and it's her turn, Nina offers, "I have some medicine skills but nothing as much as a doctor. I'd be good at a medic level of help, initial trauma skills and stabilization. I have a good touch with plants, perhaps raising herbs for the use in the kitchen if you have any seeds or anything in the cargo that could be used to start something like that up. I'm an okay cook, but mostly simple things. I can go without ruining the food but I'm not going to make anything amazing. I have some skills in Metallurgy but I am not sure that will be of much use here. I'm afraid almost all of my efforts are in the realm of magic. I can offer magical nutrition and fasting spells if your conservation of food is as important as the Captain has said.. living off of magic to sustain the body and the fast spell lets you go without feeling the pangs of hunger. You can go weeks and months without food if needed… in an emerency. I could also offer cleaning… a bucket of soapy water and a sponge and I can clean where needed, even hard to reach high places like in the cargo if we ever get to go there.. I have a spell that can let me use the sponge and bucket up real high out of reach.. like magical hands to clean up high. I can heal with magic as well, remove grease and grime with magic, shine things up and spiffify them. Levitate is another useful thing if you need to organize things in the cargo hold, illusions as well. And of course.. well.. combat stuff if we ever get in a big fight with anyone.. I can help protect the crew."

Inara listens to Nina's long list of things and hmms, "I'll have to think about that.. but I think the doctor has some seeds and plants he was going to start growing for medicinal purposes. He picked up some UV lights and some trays and I think there are some bags of soil in the cargo area but he hasn't gotten the time to start that project yet. You could get that going for him and I'm sure he would be super happy. On the next port we could pick up seeds for herbs for the kitchen… Shepherd can do some amazing things with Rosemary. And you could help him in the kitchen, prep work,… chopping up stuff for him. He's a great cook.. but a set of hands could be helpful preparing meals for the crew."

Shepherd nods, "Oh yea, help in the kitchen would be most appreicated, thank you."

Jayne pipes up, "If we get in a fight, best to just go hide some place and leave the man's work to me."

Inara shakes her head and snorts nearly-silently, "Nevermind him… you help where you can if something like that happens. Just be careful. If you can do medic stuff and heal with magic, that might be more helpful long term than risking you getting injured yourself."

Naomi takes a seat at the table, across from Inara as everyone gets busy doing what they need to to make the ship work. "Tea sounds lovely, thank you. As for what we can do… well, unless you need someone to help with wardrobes, I do have a fair bit of medical training. I wouldn't want to perform surgery, but in a pinch. You do have a doctor already, but perhaps I could assist him, depending on how everyone is." She grins slightly at Nina. "I am terrible in the kitchen, though, so best I stay out of there. A lot of my studies are in magic, as well."

Inara consider's Naomi's information that has been shared, "I think the doctor could use a nurse. We will have to get you introduced to him and see how you can help him. It's only two weeks.. but being familiar with where equipment in the medical bay is stored, how he works and functions.. if an emegency happened and he could count on you.. that could mean a great deal in a bad situation like that. In your other free time though, I could use some of your help. I am a companion," (assuming Naomi knows what that means), "and am always interested in the views of another with taste in fasion and fabrics. It would be nice to have some time with you in the shuttle to listen to your views and ideas."

Shepherd has finished the tea and brings over some simple cups (none of them match) and begins to pour some tea.

Jayne gets up and heads forward through the galley after spending some in-depth breast and body staring moments at Naomi and Nina. He mutters as he walks quicker in an exit forward in the ship, "I'll be in my bunk." (HEEHEE.. nasty Jayne!)

** GM Nina **
The rumbling roar outside of Serenity's engines begin to start. Inside it is a soothy vibration of power that sends a powerful feel through the ship. Outside it's probably utterly deaffening. The ship is prepping for takeoff.

Shepherd returns to the kitchen and starts putting away loose things into the cubbards or the sink(s) as the ship starts to slowly shake. The roar outside increases and the vibration intensifies. It's not like an earthquake, more like sitting in a rocket going to the moon (heh).

The inertia of the ship taking off can be felt but Wash seems a good pilot and it does not bank or tilt to throw people off balance, it is smooth and the takeoff is done with care.

After a few minutes things smooth out and then the sound of the engines dull and then actually become silent as there are no molecules in space for sound to bounce off from and reverberate.

"I'd be happy to discuss those sorts of things with you," Naomi responds as she enjoys the tea. "I can't say I'm terribly familiar with exactly how you would go about that on an interplanetary level, so I'd be interested in hearing about it." She holds on to her cup as things start to shake, happy to be seated as things lurch about a bit, relaxing once things settle down in actual space. "Well, that was a little exciting, wasn't it."

Nina looks nervous, stories of mages and shamans going insane in space when they get away from the planet and the forces of life that make up mana and the basis for their magic. But as they rises up she feels no change and to test it she does a simple illusion hidden under the table so she doesn't surprise anyone that may see it and it works fine… that's when she remembers she's on an Astral Quest and this isn't… 'real'? ? It's been so involving and realistic she was bought in fully and forgetting where she truely was.

About this time the sound of a crash can be heard from down the hallway towards the engine room.

Looking through the open portal Kaylee can be seen stepping out from the engine room, confused and curious. It becomes obvious the crash did not come from the engine room. Ah.. from the down the stairway in the hallway. Something below in the cargo hold must have come loose and fell over during takeoff and has fallen.

Emergency? Annoyance? Nobody will know until it is investigated.

Naomi looks to Inara and Shepherd as things seem to be crashing in the back of the ship. "Sounds like something we should be checking on, no? I do know some telekinetic spells that could be helpful if something heavy fell over." She stands up and starts to walk towards the back of the ship, pausing as she gets to Kaylee. "But, maybe one of you should have a look at what's happening first? I don't want to just up and break the rules ten minutes into the trip."

Inara nods to Naomi and then looks to Shepherd, "I will go let the Captain know," and she stands up and starts heading towards the crew quarters/front of the ship.

Shepherd nods to Naomi as Nina is moving to move with Naomi, "I think the Captain just doesn't want you to be alone in those areas.. for security reasons."

When meeting up with Kaylee in the hallway by the stairway Kaylee grins a bit with a cute smile, "Probably something came loose as we were breaking orbit. More hands to help restack and tie stuff down would be nice.. thanks!"

Kaylee seems pleased with life and not affected by the liklihood of a lot of hard work right now as she leads the group down the stairs (walls here solid on both sides and can not see into the cargo hold).

Heading down (Kaylee, Naomi, Nina, Shepherd - in that order) the group makes the first landing and then turns to the right and then heads down. As they near the next landing the opening to allow view of the cargo bay starts to offer more LOS into the cargo area.

Naomi nods to Shepherd as she continues down into the cargo area. "Well, if that's the case, we may as well lend a hand restacking the things that tipped over, so he can keep focused on captaining. If there's something you need to take care of, Kaylee, I'm sure the three of us can restack some crates without any trouble."

Shepherd nods to the logic that Naomi offers and before they head down the stairs to the cargo hold he lets the ladies pass and head down and he returns to the kitchen to start prepping the next meal for the crew.

Nina is bringing up the rear of the trio of ladies as they are heading down the stairs, feeling strangely lonely not having Trinity at her side in the astral.. a presense she has grown so accustom and fond of.


As the ladies reach the landing and step onto the metal catwalk that spreads into several directions (left to shuttle B, right across to Inara's shuttle, stairs down on this side by shuttle B, stairs down over near Inara's shuttle, catwalk on both sides leading all the way down to the far end of the cargo hold and additional stairs at the far ends to the hold below as well….

Naomi feels a cold flush of air move in front of her, the temperature dropping easily thirty degrees in one second. She also notes this is a familiar feeling when a spirit is very near.

Down in the cargo hold a stack of containes has fallen over. One of those containers has broken free of the box and hit the metal floor of the ship and cracked open at the lid.

In the air.. a sound without form or body eariely moans and sounds as a faint cry of anguish but the sound floats around and does not seem to come from any specific location.

Naomi moves towards the front, putting her arm out to keep people from moving too far into the cargo hold. "Hold up, there's something here. A spirit… maybe it snuck abord or in one of the crates, but I suspect it will be hostile." With that, she shifts her perceptions to the astral to see just what it is they are dealing with, taking a moment to assense the threat.

Naomi spots a free spirit. Presumedly having been held in that container that is broken open for the container looks as if it had some type of ward or spirit barrier on it.
The free spirit has the head of Rosie O'Donnel and the body of Jabba the Hut (pretty much looks like Rosie O'Donnel).

The spirit is slobbering green astral ooze down her chin and her canine teeth extend down below her chin like 3 inch fangs.

The spirit whips its head around as soon as Naomi and Nina become dual natured and it screeches out a howl that chills the bones. It looks like it's about to charge/attack.

The horrific screech of astral horror spreads from Rosie's mouth like a hate filled cone of rage and pure evil and it hits Nina squarely. Nina can fill her will to achieve under attack, her desire to work hard and accomplish goals in her life.. she can feel her want to improve the world around her fading and her need to blame everyone else for any trouble on everyone else around her… but she fights this, struggles against what she knows is lies from the darkness of -the Rosie- and she sneers and pushes back with her mind and lets out a scream of her own, "NOooo!!!!" she roars and pushes Rosie's ugly thoughts out of her mind.

Naomi focuses her mind as that shriek and feels a slight hint of those same wicked thoughts in her mind, but her belief runs so very contrary to the very idea. She simple winces and flexes her own magical strength, pushing those thoughts from her mind and constructing a barrier of resistance, extending it over Nina, and Kaylee as well, just in case.

Nina can feel her blood boiling up in righteous anger towards this mind poisoning twisted spirit in the cargo hold of Serenity as it floats in the air in the astral world. If it gets past Naomi and Nina… Kaylee and the others will be at the mercy of a free spirit and without anyone gifted with magic.. they will have a most horrible experience at best.
Nina pulls the mana from the items in the ship around her, the plasma and blood in the medical bay, the microbes in the bags of soil in the cargo hold, crates of unkown items that offers some gathering as mana as well and she forms it into a blue bolt of power (stunbolt) and directs it into the face of -the Rosie-.

The Rosie gets his full in the face with the spell and screams in agaony as the mana rips into her mind and being. She reels in agony and twists and turns over in the air and then slowly disolves into the firmament of nothingness.

Naomi keeps her position blocking the stairs, slipping one hand back into her coat to grab hold of her spear as she scans the area in the astral once again, making sure there's nothing else hiding. "Looks like Nina took care of it. And it looks like there was only the one. I hope you weren't shipping spirits." She looks over her shoulder and gives Kaylee a smile, though she keeps her magical shielding up, for now.

Nina takes in a deep breath, still keeping an eye in the astral as well, moving forward on the catwalk and holding the handrail while moving slow and searching, careful not to move fast and trip on anything while her view is not in the mundane.

Kaylee slowly stands up, "It's safe now? Are you sure?" In response to the quesiton about shipping spirits she squiggles up her lips sideways and raises her eyebrows, "I get the details one some of the crime we do.. but on the small stuff I don't think I get told unless they need me. Like a train heist we did once.. they needed me on that one to lower Jayne down to the train… but.. we could be smuggling spirits.. I'm not sure," she looks concerned though at the idea.

Captain Malcom Reynolds comes thudding down the stairs with a revolver in his hand, skidding to a stop at the landing behind Kaylee, "I heard screams!" he declares, here to protect the women folk.

Naomi keeps her hand in her coat for now, turning to look at Mal as he comes bursting into the cargo hold to defend the trio. "It seems there was a spirit in one of your crates. It fell over and got opened during take off, so it was loose in the hod. It's gone now. Hopefully it wasn't cargo. It was too hostile to effectively recontain, if it was, but nothing else seems to have opened."

Mal looks concerned, moving past Kaylee after ensuring her safety and then looking to Naomi and Nina to make sure they are safe. Next in importance is the cargo and it's safe transport. When he sees the broken container below he mutters with quick words, "Hao ba, wo you wo de rutu xinrle zhn lng, zh jiang sh yig hen d de hubo."

Well, I'll have my tit caught in a ringer, that was going to be a big payoff.

Nina lets her gaze slip back to the mundane and then she looks to Mal with a little frown. She doesn't know Chinese but she can tell he was upset, "I'm sorry.. it was going to end up doing some major damage to the crew.. if not kill all of you. I had to destroy it."

Naomi puts her hand on Nina's shoulder reassuringly. "It was just fortunate we came with Kaylee to help rescure things. It had a vicious scream, which the captain heard. You disrupted it before it could materialize itself and try to kill everyone. It seemed very hostile." She looks to the captain. "We can help double check the rest. Make sure everything is secure and nothing else can get out."

The Captain considers the option, looks back to Kaylee that is still shaken up a bit.

Jayne comes in with Vera (his big assault rifle) and skids to a stop, "Did I miss the big damn party?!"

Mal ignores the asshole and looks back to Naomi and Nina, "I would appreciate it if you could help secure the rest of the containers and make sure they are safe as well. We don't want another one escpaing. I was assured that was impossible, but," he looks down at the broken open container, "it appears I was deceived on the level of danger I was being asked to endure for this transport."

Jayne grins wide, "Hell… that's good. We can jack up the price before delivery for them being all deceiptful and the like."

Mal rolls his eyes a bit and goes to care for Kaylee and walk her back up to the galley for a drink of water. He pauses and looks to Naomi, "Thank you."

Mal helps Kaylee stand up and then looks to Jayne, "You stay here and help these ladies if they need any help, they're going to re-secure that pallet of containers."

Naomi nods to Mal, giving him a smile. "We'll check them over and make sure the warding in place on them is still intact. So long as the other crates are still in one piece, they should be fine." She nods to Nina and heads down into the hold to make sure the rest are still secured and unbroken. "Jayne, we might need your help moving them, depending on how heavy they are. In the meantime, just keep an eye out for anything that looks like a spirit, just in case."

Jayne at first looks to not like being told what to do, but that shifts into -protecting the women folk- sort of bravado and he starts to pace the catwalk up high to overlook the area with Vera in hand and at the ready.

Nina heads down to the cargo containers with Naomi to examine what is going on.

On the way down the stairs, Wash's voice comes over the ship-wide intercom, "I'm getting a hull integrity alarm below the cargo bay in the crawl space.. Kaylee… we're going to need your help to find out what's going on."

Naomi smiles up at Jayne as he starts to pace the catwalk. "Thank you, Jayne. I feel much safer with you on watch there. Spirits can be pretty dangerous, especially if they catch you by surprise." She walks towards the crates as she hears Wash's voice from the stairs, then looks down at the floor, tappin git lightly with her foot. "Hm. I don't think one would try to get in the crawl space…" She looks to Nina. "Do you?"

Nina shakes her head to the question and kneels down on one knee next to the broken container, "There is some sort of primortial astral ooze stuff that has dripped down through the floor grate here.. it looks like it's corrosive." She looks up towards Naomi with concern, "Looks like it went down here.. and again down the way a little bit before it ate through the floor.. two places likely."

Naomi moves over to the grate in question, frowning a bit. "I guess it must have been in the crate? Or, maybe is was just a particularly caustic spirit. Either way, we're going to have to do some patching and replacing, I think." She raises her voice. "Kaylee, do you have any metal sheeting? There's some corrosion down here!"

Kaylee and Mal, along with Inara, Zoe and Shepherd are all filing down the stairway onto the catwalk and coming down the stairs to help. It's an all hands on deck sort of a situation. From the back of the ship from a stairway that leads down to the medical bay Simon and River come into view for the first time and seem confused by Naomi and Nina being on the ship.

Kaylee has a bag of tools and metal and rubber patch kits as well as some epoxy foam and various options for hull repair in a big tool bag over her shoulder that is half the size of herself. Kaylee is heading for Naomi and Nina with urgency, "Sensors are on the inner hull, that's below the floor…. this way," she offers to Naomi and Nina to join her to lift up a hatch to get down below. Kaylee points to the open container, "Secure that container so no more stuff leaks down onto us from above." She seems to take charge when things mechanical are at hand.

Naomi moves quickly to the container she's indicated, lifting it and setting it so that nothing else is leaking out of it, while looking it over for some indication of what it might be. Hopefully, that will let them know if this is going to be a further danger to them, or the ship. "I've got this. I guess things got a little more shook up than we thought."

Nina moves to join up with Kaylee, per her reqeust. At the grate in the floor it's far too heavy for Nina to life (STR: 2) and so she reverts to a levitate spell with a soft chanting/speaking in Enochian and pointing at the grate until it rises up and leans against the wall to allow Kaylee to climb down.

Kaylee looks thankful with a big smile as she puts down the tool bag and climbs into the hole and then holds up her hands for Nina to slide her bag over to her.

Zoe comes to Naomi's side and starts helping her as Naomi is examining the contents of the bi-worldly ooze matieral.

Nina climbs in after Kaylee after kaylee becons her to join her.

Kaylee can be heard talking under the floor grating as she moves under the floor with Nina, "So.. this stuff is some magical ooze? Corrosive too? I can handle corrosive but if it has a magical component it may be a good idea for you two ladies to check the astral and make sure there are not any wondering streams of this stuff going off that I can't see."

Naomi secures the container to the wall, looking over the markings on it and examining the make of the container. She leans in and sniffs at it for a moment, then shakes her head. "This is a very strong solvent. It has a number of alchemical and medical uses, but most of them revolve around its abilities to dissolve most metals. You may need to counter it, so we know it won't continue to cause problems."

Kaylee gets to the sensor and starts examining the area, putting the bag down she gets out some tools and portable sensors and starts sniffing and testing hull thickness.

Nina slips her view into the astral world to examine the substance and where it has traced along the metal. Some places are obvious with pitting or etching but there are a few places she discovers where the magical energies sucked molecules (for lack of a better explination) from surrounding metals and weakened them as well.

Nina hears Naomi's advice above and tells Kaylee, "We're going to need to neutralilze this acidity substance with a base.. alum.. caustic.. something with a high pH."

Kaylee nods to that and considers priorities and then raises her voice up to those above, "Jayne… go with Shepherd to the kitchen and get all the baking soda in the kitchen. Mix it with water in a bucket and start wiping down areas this substance has traveled."

Above, Jayne snarls up a lip at being told what to do but a look from Mal makes him shut up and head off towards the kitchen in silence.

Shepherd is eager and ready to help and heads for the stairs to go help Jayne find what he needs in the kitchen.

Naomi doublechecks that the container is secured and closed, then goes back to the spill. "It's a semi-organic compound, so if you can sterilize it down there, we may be able to slow the progress until we can get it properly cleaned up. I'm going to give it a shot up here."

Below the floor with Kaylee, Nina works the spell that Naomi suggests, thankfully knowing the spell that Naomi belives will help out in this situation. She speaks in that strange language as she concentates during the casting of the spell as she moves along the crawlspace and holds her hand over the affected areas.

Shepherd and Jayne return with a red plastic bucket and some rags and start to the areas they are directed to splash about the caustic water on the areas to neutralize the metal.

Below.. Kaylee finds the area that is the most corrosive where the sensor was set off and starts to select the proper patch from her bag of tools and gear for correcting and patching the area.

Jayne and Shepherd are ready at the hatch when Kaylee and Nina come up from the crawl space below the floor. As the ladies climb out the two men head down under to spread the caustic water on the walls and floor and areas that were affected.

Inara has been standing to the side updating Simon and River on who the two new ladies are on the ship. In hushed tones she seems to be informing Simon but comforting River.

Naomi moves over to the hatch to ovver Kaylee and Nina a hand climbing out, stepping back to let Jayne and Shepherd get down to work, standing close in case anything dramaic happens. "How'd things look down there? Not too far gone, hopefully?" She glances over to Simon and River as Inara talks to them, looking a bit curious but staying where she is for the time being.

Kaylee informs and updates Naomi on what happened down below, "We were pretty lucky.. the corrosion sensor was set off before the inner hull was breached. If it had been eating through the metal a few foot to either side the sensor is not sensative that far away.. it could have been a lot worse; could have eaten through further before the sensor went off."

Nina nods and seems pleased that things are under control, "The Sterlize seemed to help a good deal in postponing the issue.. it was sizzling in the astral but the sterlize spell calmed it down and stopped that."

Mal walks over with his thumbs in his suspenders and hmms a bit before speaking, "The two of you have proven yourself, that you're not weak.. and that's something." (direct quote from Season 1, Episode 1) Mal continues, "You two can have access to the cargo hold now without supervision. From what Inara has told me, Naomi is going to be assisting Simon and she's going to need to go through the cargo area frequently and honestly it's a hassle escorting you through constantly. And.. I'd like the two of you to check in on the spirit contaiment containers as often as you think is neccessary on the trip to ensure they are staying safe where they are." He raises an eyebrow and looks to Naomi and Nina as if asking… understood?

Naomi grins a little bit as she looks to Nina. "Well, looks like it's a good thing we happened by when we did. Space travel is tricky business."

She turns to face Mal and gives a nod. "Yes, captain. Shipping spirits can be tricky, but we'd be happy to check up on them and make sure the rest stay properly contained. I am going to stick with Simon and see if I can be of some assistance to him in the medical area. I have enough training to do a reasonable job as a nurse, so I guess I'll be in the general area. Once we verify that things are secure, it shoudl be fine so long as we don't get any more shake ups, but you never know."

Naomi gets gathered up by Simon and River and taken towards the stern of the ship to be introduced to the Medical bay and the the guest quarters. Now that the ladies have access to the cargo bay they are being shown to personal quarters that are near the medical bay at the stern of the ship and not being put two to a room up near the crew quarters. Now Naomi and Nina will have their own personal room back near Simon and River's room.

Mal oversees the remaining of the cleanup and Kaylee heads back up to the engine to tend to her duties. Zoe hangs out for a while talking old military tales with Mal and in short order Jayne and Shepherd have finished up the cleaning below and Nina heads off to the kitchen with Shepherd to wash up and get back to kitchen work for the next meal.

Naomi is introduced to the sickbay and medical room and starts to get an idea of the inventory, some equipment she's never used and also a bit about Simon. He keeps his cards pretty close to his chest and after a couple days it seems that he seems most protective of River. That any secrets he has it's because he's trying to keep information from getting out that might harm his sister.

Nina spends the next couple days working on setting up a greenhouse in the cargo bay, metal shelves with Jayne and Kaylee welding and making wooden boxes to hold the soil and dirt. Nina works with the seeds that are available and some sheets of plastic to collect moisture and small greenhouse condensation tents over the planting shelves.

Some days pass in this manner with meals shared in the mess, laughter becomes easier as the crew gets more accustom to Naomi and Nina being on the ship. The two newcomers are pulling their weight and proving to be worth having on board.

It's early 'morning? ?" and Wash's voice comes over the intercom, "Captain!" a supreme urgency in his tone, "We've Got Reavers… they were hiding behind a small moon and came out of nowhere… they're coming in too fast and close for us to outrun them."

Somewhere else in the ship someone can be heard screaming, a woman's voice.

Jayne runs past Naomi and Nina that are currently cleaning up the dishes in the kithcen area, "Vera! I'm coming for you baby!"

Shepherd is nearby and his concerning and empathetic way shows in his eyes, "Please ladies.. arm yourselves as best you can.. and don't let them take you alive."

Nina looks dreadfully concerned due to the general panic on the ship of people that she has learned seemed to have almost no fears that exit. These Reavers have them all pretty much terrified. She starts to speak in Enochian to herself as he begins to center a casting.. to place an Increased Reflexes F4 on herself, sustained into the foci on her wrist.

Nina pulls in mana from around herself and enhances her nerves and her pathways for quicker reqction, sustaining the spell in a foci on her bracelet.

Naomi reaches into her coat, pulling her spear out and extending it, so as to have it ready when these Reavers get close. "I suppose they'll be coming in through the hold? We should probably head in that direction to help hold them off. Since… it seems they're going to be boarding?"

Shepherd nods to the logic, "There are docking positions at the front of the ship at the loading door, on the top for emergency rescues and also we have two shuttles on each side… or.. these monsters could latch on, haul us in and hold us tight as they make a seal anywhere on the hull and just cut a huge hole through the side to come in anywhere."

Nina looks ready, concerned but ready to deal with anyone that would threaten the crew.. her family.

Naomi looks to Shepherd as he explains. "Well, if they do just make a hole in the ship for boarding, do we have a way to deal with that when we drive them off and they take off? A hole in the ship would be a big problem, wouldn't it?"

Naomi nods and looks to Nina. "Well… I suppose we can station ourselves at one of the actual entrances, and just get ready to run where ever we're needed. Let's find a good spot with some cover."

Nina nods to Naomi's logic, How about in the cargo bay on the catwalk? It overlooks with line of sight the main cargo door.. if they come in through the shuttle entrances they'd come in there.. and if it's the roof entrance… well.. it's a short run back up into the upper hall here.. it sort of puts us in the center of all options? Unless they do some crazy cutting in thing right?"

Jayne goes running past with a large assault rifle and a big smile on his face, like he's having fun. He's heading for the hallway where the roof hatch entrance is to guard that location.

Mal can be seen up the hall at the pilot's area up front with Wash and Zoe. Zoe and Mal are talking quick tactics and planning while Wash is doing mad maneuvers trying to buy time.

Kaylee isnt' seen anywhere but assumed to be with the engine. Innara also isn't seen and River and Simon are likely back by medical where they seem to loiter a great deal.

Naomi nods to Nina's logic and starts to head in that direction. "Sounds like a good place for us. We can't plan for them comming in through the hull in some random spot, but that's good coverage on all the existing ways in and out of the ship." She grins as Jayne heads past them. "And I think Jayne'll have the roof hatch pretty secure with that. I guess we can just listen for… cutting and screaming."

THUNGK! A loud steel on steel sound shakes the entire ship and the engines can be heard cutting off and going quiet. Over the intercom Mal's voice calls out, "We've been grappled and are being pulled in.. it looks like they are pulling us up under them so they're going for the roof hatch entrance.. I just want you all to know…"

Zap!

And electrical EMP wave goes through the ship and panels in the walls, ceiling lights and displays around the ship spark and fizzle and go dark. The Reavers used some sort of Electrical overload it looks like to disable several systems in Serentiy. Shit.. likely the security locks on the roof hatch too!

The intercom is now dead and isn't making any more announcements from Mal but there are some battery powered emergency lights that come on around the ship to offer minimum lighting.

Naomi starts to move towards the roof hatch, looking to Nina for a moment as she does. "We'd better get up there. There's probably going to be a lot of them. And we won't run out of ammo."

Nina nods with agreement to that, "If we can keep them bottlenecked at a hatch.. that'd be an awesome advantage.. shit.. what if they flashbang or do some space stun thing and then rush in while we're all disoriented? Do we keep close and try and keep them bottled up at the hatch and risk such a thing? Or hold back more safe like and give them opportunity to get in and behind cover and extend the danger?"

Nina starts moving with Naomi with urgency as they plan.

Sheppherd heads off elsewhere in the ship, likely to help Kaylee and protect her.

Naomi continues heading up as she talks. "If they do a flashbang or something, look astral and you can mostly avoid it. If they get behind cover, I can throw a Nova at them and they'll be sorry they even tried. Otherwise, I can probably throw stunbolts and stunballs all day, and we can clean them up after."

Nina nods at the tactics as they head up the stairs, landing, stairs to the upper hallway to where the roof hatch ladder can be seen and Jayne is waiting nearby with his assault rifle while laughing to himself in a near mad-man euphroia.

Metal on metal can be heard at the hatch and a hissing sound.

** GM Nina **
The hallway has supporting beams which allow for cover, steel beams that arch like ribs of a whale's belly. Otherwise there is little cover in the hall that the access hatch drops into.

Naomi moves to the side of the hallway, taking cover behind one of those supporting beams at the end of the hallway that Jayne is defending, spear in hand and watching for anyone coming in.

Nina takes up position as well, not wanting to take a chance of any crossfire she makes sure she and Naomi are 'behind' where Jayne is taking cover with his rifle. His projectile weapons is probably better to have in front of them anyway. And.. it makes him feel more manly like he's protecting the ladies anyway.

After some moments the hatch can be heard screeching open on rusty seldom used hinges and then there is a canister dropped inside that rolls into the hallway.

Having prepositioned down the hall a good distance, if it's a flashbang type device the light may still be an issue but any bang will be dramatically reduced due to distance.

Nina flips her vision into the Astral, following Naomi's advice. She keeps behind the beam and puts her back hard against the wall, tucking herself clearly out of view from the hallway down where the hatch is and covers her ears with her hands.

Naomi follows suit, shifting her perceptions to the astral and covering her ears, ducking back to keep from suffering the worst of the incoming pop, ready to look back as soon as it goes off.

POP_FLASH_BOOM!

Ringing of the ears.. thud thud.. thud….. thud thud.. and from the short hallway where the hatch ladder is a group of "men" (term used loosely) come flooding out into the hallway hunched over and limp running towards Jayne/Naomi/Nina.. they have metal bits in their heads, arms and hands, like they take bits of metal and try to make them parts of their own body. Piercing to a whole new level. They bleed around these metal protrusions as if pain helps them grow in strength and rage and focuses their insanity for the purpose of destruction.

Naomi looks around the beam she's standing behind and incants in Gaelic, "Interlopers, I command you to sleep!" She gestures towards the hatch and a spectral spear shimmers into being for a moment, disappearing as it flies in the direction of the Reavers. Watching astrally, Naomi and Nina can both see it reach the center of the group and burst into a magical wave of energy, hitting all five of them hard. Four of them and knocked off their feet and sprawl to the ground unconcious, but the fifth seems to be able to withstands the effects, either by force of will or sheer madness.

Nina has her vision in the astral and notes the horrific totured souls of these men boarding the ship, so much insane rage and mindless savegry. Naomi's swift action takes out most of the group and leaves one standing. She speaks clearly in Enochian, "Sleep…. thou tortured soul." In the astral a green arrow shoots from her left hand into the standing reaper and the man wavers.. then falls to the steel flooring of the hallway upon his brothers.

Jayne stands up and turns to Naomi and Nina with a look of disgust and anger, "Well damn.. why'd you go and do that? I didn't even get to shoot anyone?!"

Shepherd's voice can be heard from somewhere else in the ship in an echo, "Kaylee's been hurt!"

Naomi grins a bit as she looks at Jayne, then starts to head down towards the engine room. "They're all just unconcious, if you want to take care of them. It sounds like something happening with Kaylee though. You can shoot any more than come in."

Jayne shoulders his rifle on a sling and pulls out a long combat knife and starts towards the Reapers, "I'll take care of them." He pauses and looks to Nina, "Can you stay here.. watch my back while I get this shit off my ship?"

Nina nods, "Okay.. um.. sure." She doesn't look like she wants to get split up from Naomi but she agrees to the logic of it.

"I'm sure it's nothing toobad," Naomi calls out as she keeps going. "Catch up with me when you can. Watch Jayne's back!"

** GM Nina **
When Naomi enters the engine room she can see Kaylee on the floor and Shepherd over her trying to care for her. Shepherd looks up, "An arch of energy sprayed out of a control panel arched into her head.. she just screamed and dropped. She stopped breathing but I got her breathing again… I don't know if she's going to be okay."

Simon (River close behind.. with Reavers about she's not getting out of arms length of her brother) is some paces off yet with a medical kit, coming at a run.

Jayne starts to take trophies form the Reavers, ears and the like, an occassional tooth.. very nasty shit.

** GM Nina **
Jayne and Nina work for some time getting the Reavers (after Jayne cuts their throats) up into the Reavers nasty radiation infested and polluted ship. Jayne insists on getting on a suit and going through their ship looking for loot. (all this takes place while Naomi is helping with Kaylee.. that RP flowing at the same time this is going on). Jayne manages to scavenge some items and some parts of Serenity. Mal, Zoe and Wash all go to help tend to Kaylee.. mostly moral support on the edges.

After Jayne has all of the items scavenged from the Reaver ship he tries to get the ship hatches closed but the Reavers ship is stuck and will not unlatch. Something is jammed. He points this out to Nina when she inquires as to the situation and what the problem is and he points through the small glass portal in the hatch the lever that is stuck and can't be moved with the auto system because that part of the system is still fried and not repaired yet.

Nina nods and has Jayne step back, using Megakenisis on the super stuck lever to try and free the enemy ship from Serenity so it will drift off away into space.

Naomi gets into the engine room and runs over to Kaylee quickly, quickly recognizing that traditional medicine is going to have limits as to how much it can help here. She kneels down next to her and putting her hands on her head, already starting to invoke her magics as she speaks in Gaelic. "By my will, restore her to health."

Nina calls for her magic again, directing her energies and focus on that lever until she can get the mana to form around the lever and pull it with an ungodly force.. there is a shimmer and a clunk as the Reaver ship releases.. and slowly starts to drift away.

Naomi keeps her hands on Kaylee's head, the magic of her spell washing over her, seeping into her aura and starting to repair the damage she'd suffered from the energy. Naomi watches her aura quickly return to good health, though some injury remains. Kaylee opens her eyes slowly, looking around at everyone gathered around looking at her. "Oh… What happened? Did I miss the party?" She gives a confused smile, one hand moving up to her head, finding Naomi's hands there. "I think I hit my head."

Naomi nods, keeping her hands in place to keep Kaylee from getting up. "Something sparked from the engine, Shepherd said. I was closer, so I stabilized you, until Simon could get here to look after you. I think you'll be fine now, though."

As the ship and crew recover from the assault… Naomi is brought back into the medical bay and Simon pulls out an old dusty manual from behind the supply cabinet so that Naomi can study it, "I want you to learn this if you can.. it will teach you how to use all of my high tech diagnostic equipment here on the ship… so you can help out more here in the medical bay."

Nina is asked to help Kaylee later that day on the bridge to read the manual and repair books for Kaylee, helping her work on the extended sensors of the ship so that they aren't caught off guard in another ambush like that again.
