THE THEME MUSIC

When we last left off:

Flint had taken off on his own, hiding out in the warrens. Hek and Knox were in a flop house in the CAS near the Warrens and Argos had crashed at his place.

Flint/”Mikey” sent off a trix post, perhaps something can be arranged, this whole thing most likely smells fishy to begin with, and the mob isn't stupid. After camping out for the night, he shaves his head and beard off, then manages through his magic to turn his skin black. That done, he heads for the cybered arms to await the rest of the team to discuss things.

After a night spent cradling his new smartlinked, recoil compensated body maker, Hek stirs from a fitful sleep. "Stupid chinks, always causing problems." He looks over at Argos, and Knox. "That ex-cop seemed like he had some ideas. Personally, I'm not all about trying to talk my way out of some shit I had nothing to do with."

Argos sighs and rubs the back of his neck, moving his head from side to side. "Well, I'm not that keen on it either, but I'm less keen of the mob wanting to blow me away for something I didn't do either. Still, hopefully that ork has some sort of idea of what to do, I don't even know where to begin right now. Suppose I could try to call one of my mob contacts and beg a favor to see if he knows who out there wants to slight Innocenti…"

Knox nods slowly to Hek, his arm is in a sling and thankfully Flint/Mikey stabilized and cleaned the straight shot wound. He winces as he brings the cigarette to his lips, "I think if we can make contact with the Mafia, see what data Argos pulled up….leverage our way into clearing us and maybe getting some dough out of it." he shrugs, then grunts at the pain in his shoulder. "Lets grab the car, drive to the cybered Arms."

The Rez - Cybered Arms - Bar

Welcome inside. It's a "seedy" place to say the least. The bar is smoky, and light lances in from the 3 inch slits on the steel covered windows, cutting through the haze. One wall has an elbow high (for a human) bench runing the length, only stopping for the old, scarred cigarette machine. Above the bench is a number of corkboards along the wall. These have pinups of gun magazine flimsies, naked women, and contact names and numbers for various services tacked to them.

A cramped bar that seats five abreast is crammed into the back wall, and doors to the restrooms are adjacent; to the left of the bar. The bar itself seems quite new, done in stainless steel and metal grillwork, with the spirits behind a high metal grille, only the tops protruding. A steel cyborg head, titanium teeth bared and dark optics forever dormant, is mounted above the bar, polished but for the three bullet entry holes along the side of the skull.

Mikey is waiting, in disguise of course. He will approach the team when they arrive and identify himself, of course, he still wears his music player like he always does, an earbud in one ear, plus he does look the same facially, just without the beard and hair.

Knox skulks in, Keegan giving the ork a weary bit of stink eye. The ork's arm is draped in his rumpled suit jacket. "Hi."

Hek skulks into the furthest depths of the darkest corner in the place. Arms stay folded acrossed his chest, eyes remaining focused on the door. From time to time he looks at Keegan, then to the two bouncers, a not small part of his thoughts trying to figure out where the three of them would stand if things were to suddenly go sideways.

Argos glances over at the bouncers and Keegan before moving along with the rest of the team, sighing softly as he takes a seat. "So… hopefully someone has some sort of idea on how to fix this problem?"

Mikey grunts faintly. "We have some valuable data, we need to give that to the mob and explain the situation. The person even told us they are selling to sucresi, so that narrows down who they are."

In the corner, Knox heads to the bar, he comes back holding a small plate of fried soy crisps and four mug sof soybeer. He chugs one back before responding, "Lets recap. We do a run. Double cross and framed. We don't know who the person is right? But we have a copy of the data? Argos?"

In the corner, Hek unfolds his hands from beneath his armpits and leans forward. "That bitch was triad, for sure." Having contributed that, he takes payment in the form of a big handful of fries, and one of the beers. Before anyone can object, he stuffs the fries into his mouth. "Thanks." He mumbles around the greasy faux-spuds.

Argos nods softly at that, patting his bag. "Of course, I didn't give them the source code, just a copy." He glances over at Hek and shrugs slightly before looking over at the others. "Just surprised they didn't try to kill us then and there though. Guess they figure the mob will handle that just fine."

Mikey snorts "To play super paranoid, they in fact are someone else tryhing to frame the triads by trying to frame us to implicate the triads. But hey, thats way too complicated right."

In the corner, Hek shrugs. "I don't give two fucks who they really are. I only care what to tell the wops to get them to leave me alone."

Knox snaps his fingers, he pulls out a pocket secretary and connects it with his datajack discreetly tucked behind his ear. His eyes roll back into his head for a moment, then an image shows up on the pocsec. He passes it around.

«OOC» Argos says, "Best I have is gang rumors"
«Plot» Knox says, "That'll work too, tn6"
«OOC» Mikey says, "I dont have criminal orgs, just Wanted Criminals :)"

You paged Hek with 'Upon closer inspection of the grainy eye you can see she resembles one of the upper members of the 88's Triad'.

«Plot» Knox says, "That works too, TN6 shes definitely wanted or has criminal background"

Knox snaps his fingers, he pulls out a pocket secretary and connects it with his datajack discreetly tucked behind his ear. His eyes roll back into his head for a moment, then an image shows up on the pocsec. He passes it around. (repose for Mikey)

«Auto-Judge[]» Mikey (#11485) rolls Wanted Criminals vs TN 6 for "Not going to happen!": 3 = 0 Successes
«Auto-Judge[]» Argos (#11351) rolls Gang Rumors vs TN 6: 1 5 10 = 1 Success

You paged Argos with 'you're pretty sure she's triad affiliated, word on the street anyway.'.

In the corner, Hek looks at the image without much interest at first, seemingly hesitant to look away from the entrance for too long, lest someone walk through it and recognize him. Only after a few moments does he do a double take of sorts, then smirk. "That bitch looks REAL familiar." He nods assuredly. "Triad. One of the locals, the Eighty-Eights. I wonder if her sixty-four trigram technique is any good."

In the corner, Hek checks the door again, then the bouncers, then looks to Flint. "You got anyone who can pull a gang file?"

Mikey nods "Yea, I got a guy who can pull up information on someone, thats not an issue."

Argos frowns a bit at that as he nods in agreement with Hek. "Yeah, linked with the triads at least…" He leans bacn and runs a hand through his hair. "So, know we know who screwed us, just have to figure out what we can do about it now.

In the corner, Knox scarfs down a few soyfries. He looks over Mikey, "Got to say I think the new do is very fashion forward." Looking back to Argos, "Whats that data say exactly that you got? And since apparently I don't know anyone with the Innocenti ro Sucreasi families…….do any of you have contacts in that there general direction?"

In the corner, Hek looks at Argos and suggests. "We got screwed.. but not really. The people who got screwed are the wops. They got screwed. Those poor yaks we wacked out… they got screwed." He leans back against the wall again, his beer forgotten on the short shelf. "We should figure out what the triads have to gain."

In the corner, Argos reaches into the bag and pulls his deck out. "Basically an entire network of smugglers and dealers that all answer to a Mark Rosetti. Can send it to your secretaries if you want to hook them up real quick."

In the corner, Knox pulls put a cigarette case, awkwardly, with his good arm. He fumbles with the light but gets it eventually. "While I had watch and Hek was snoozing, there was something on the news about a lot of Kong chips coming in, almost suddenly." He looks to Argos and nods, "Yea that'd be great."

In the corner, Hek reaches into his jacket and pulls out an optical cord that he slots into the jack tucked behind his ear.

Hek says, "Ready for the transfer."

In the corner, Flint/Mikey pulls out his own pocsec, but seems unsure what to do about this at the moment. "My first instinct is to wait and see if we get any bites for an appeal to reason. Other than that, we can go kill this triad chick and see if that helps."

In the corner, Hek lowers his voice and looks at Argos. "So the yaks had a file on a mob distribution network?"

In the corner, Hek shakes his head at Mikey's suggestion. "It's too early for that." He frowns a bit. "Don't get me wrong though." He looks at the dark skinned man. "The bitch is going to get it. But with those chips coming in, and needing to be distributed." Again he shakes his head. "She's too valuable."

«Plot» Knox says, "Street rumors for Rosetti, tn5. Smuggling or BTL production TN3."

In the corner, Argos shrugs slightly at that and pulls out an optical cord to jack in as well, suddenly looking half asleep and groggy as he starts sending them the file. "Pretty much… not sure if its one of the mobs or not… but they are underground business…"

«Auto-Judge[]» Knox (#4448) rolls Street Rumors: 4 4 4 5 9
«Auto-Judge[]» Hek (#10968) rolls Criminal Organizations for "Is Rosetti a mobster?": 1 2 4 5

In the corner, Knox scratches his chin, "Rosseti sounds familiar…..I don't think they're affiliated with anyone though. The thing is, the Yaks do most of the BTL business. They pay Sucreasi in fact to operate, I think I could be wrong, within their 'territory'. I just figured Big Man was looking to take it over." Knox leans back slightly puzzled.

You paged Hek with 'Rossetti, indie BTL production and smuggling ring. Not much else known.'.

In the corner, Mikey frowns "Lets look at this data, if you were a competitor, what would you do with distro data on the yaks BTLs. More than likely seek to destroy them right? Knock out the competition."

In the corner, Hek nods with what Knox has said. "You know, the name threw me.. but Rossetti, that guy is indie. Maybe he got his supply from the yaks, but with them out of the game…" He shrugs, thinking about something, but not voicing it. "It might be interesting to see if Miss Eighty-Eight makes contact with Rossetti."

In the corner, Hek glances over at Mikey. "Either to wack him out, like that.." He forms his hand into a pistol and points it at Mikey. "Or to make him an offer." Having said it out loud, he nods to Mikey. "Probably better margin in taking him out. I wonder what Rossetti's life is worth to him, or at least info that he's got a target on his head." A frown flits across his lips and he quickly looks around, suddenly paranoid that someone might have heard his thoughts.

In the corner, Argos comes fully back and unplugs his skull. "Actually, they don't deal with BTLs at all… weapons and drugs, little embezzling, and some burglary is all I can see from the info."

In the corner, What Argos has to say gives Hek pause. He goes silent, and then his left eye starts flickering. Not quite sure what to make of what Argos has said, he takes a few moments to organize the various threads with the help of whatever device is on the other end of that optical cable.

In the corner, Knox counters, "It could be additional information beyond their basic op." He leans back.

Mikey’s cell phone rings.

Ring, Ring

Mikey blinks, and picks up his phone, looking quickly to see if there is some information on who is calling.

CALLER ID: LS-Dave

Mikey raises a hand for quiet, then puts the phone to his ear. "Hello." He answers in a slightly gruff voice, at least an attempt to change it somewhat.

Knox looks to Hek and nods. "We got any contacts amongst us who can put us in touch with an interested party, say Mob? I fear going back to the Yaks with their own data…..might be fatal."
The ringing phone makes Hek jump, not quite quite off the ground, but the reflexive twitch is visible.

"It's Dave. Safe to talk?"

Mikey grunts. "Don't be too specific, I'm in a strange situation at the moment, and someone might be listening. Whats up?"

"All right then. Is it true? I got snitches swearing up and down he's out of the game under your watch."
Argos shakes his head at that. "Not with the Innocenti… only contact I have is with that Chavez, and not to sure how much help they'd be right now, unless there's some way we can help them out in return…"
In the corner, Hek shakes his head at Knox and offers an unhelpful shrug. "Given enough time, I'm sure I can sort some shit out. But on a pick up the phone, and talk to level?" With a disappointed frown he shakes his head. "I don't know anyone like that."

«Auto-Judge[]» Knox (#4448) rolls Law (Criminal): 1 1 4 10

Mikey sighs, and speaks into his phone. "Did I happen to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, maybe. Did I do anything, no, nor did anyone I was with. Classic fall guy situation. Its related to our last phone conversation, and basically its just a big mess."

"Fuck that. I got a downed officer in ICU, you know that? I can take you in on probable cause. I got Kong chip OD's in my district. 20 in one night and now it looks like the two big ones want to big dick it out. I got 8 hours before I send in my report to the sarge…..I don't want to do that with your name in it. You need something done I can help you out with this? "

In the corner, Knox looks at Mikey, then speaks quietly, "Chavez and Innocenti and Sucreasi….they share a law firm downtown you know. What's good for the goose is good for the gander eh?"

In the corner, Hek winces at the mention of downtown. "That's a part of the plex I don't have the means to get to."

Mikey snorts "You know the situation, unless you got some kind of proof I was there, all you got is heresy. I happened to know an officer was hurt, that’s all you got for my name. Look, here is the situation, your in the middle of a power play by a third party. Triads are moving in to take the yaks markets. For that they needed to cause a rift between the yaks and the Italians, and that’s what they did. You know I just happen to know alot of disreputable people, I never do anything illegal myself. I only called you cause I heard some stuff and figured you could benefit, the cop being down had nothing to do with me, you know I don't do that. As for how you can help, I have no idea at the moment. If I figure something out I'll call you, maybe I can get you on these kong distros."

Dave seems to calm down a bit, "Yea, yea. I know man I'm just doing my job. Sarge is on me 24/7. Look…..I'll push my report till tomorrow. After that, it's out of my hands man." Click.

Hek frowns when he hears Mikey offer up to the BTL distribution channels to the cops. "This guy keeps fucking with my profit potentials." He mutters to no one inparticular.

Mikey sighs "Seems everyone knows who we are folks, cause the grapevine has me pegged somehow. These folks did thier research on us."

Knox leans back and looks to Mikey, "What was that all about?", then looking to Argos, "Well you could try to make contact, or we could try to make contact with someone from another family?"

Argos shrugs a bit at that and frowns. "Dunno, the Chavez would love nothing more then trying to one up the Innocenti with their history… Then again, maybe that data might prove just as useful to them as it would have our original employers?"

Mikey reaches up to rub his head slightly. "Seems folks are out looking for us, and my friend is trying not to put my name on the list of suspects for that officer down. This is why you never shoot cops, they actually care when you hurt thier own, a few yaks and they don't try so hard."

Hek shakes his head at Argos. "Giving that data to anybody who doesn't already have it just pisses off the people who do have it. Right now, we figure that is the yaks, the triads, and whatever wop family the yaks were dealing with."

In the corner, Knox corrects Hek, "That would be the Sucreasi's. Big Man's people."

In the corner, Mikey frowns "So whats the data actually say, it gives the yaks suppliers or customers?"

In the corner, Knox looks again to Mikey, stealing the last of the fries "Supplies. So, what should we do and who should we speak to?"

In the corner, Hek says, "I'm all for finding that triad cunt and tailing her, figuring out what she is up to. The more info we have on her, and the Kong chips… the more nuyen we stand to make out of this."

In the corner, Mikey grunts "It should be the people who want us dead, we need to offer them something to convince them we didn't do it. I'm not sure this data alone will do it……what if we pull the same job again? Just this time, against the Triads."

In the corner, Knox says, "Why whatever do you mean my boy?"

In the corner, Hek says, "If you're talking about hitting the triads for Sucreasi, I want to get paid for it.. by Sucreasi. I didn't wack his man out.. nobody here did. We can't just go war on triads for free."

«Plot» Knox says, "Interesting direction, didn't think of that! :)"

In the corner, Argos glances over at Hek and raises an eyebrow. "So clearing your name and getting off a hit list of a mob isn't enough incentive? Getting paid is good, but keeping my brain in my skull is even better so I can /spend/ some of the money I make."

In the corner, Mikey nods "If we can find the Triads computers, we raid them, then turn both the yak data, AND the triad data over to Sucresi. With that kind of information in his hands, he will know everything about BTLs in Denver. Its a great peace offering."

In the corner, Hek nods at Argos. "It's the PRINCIPLE of the matter." He emphasizes his point by smacking his fist into his open palm. "If I show the mobsters that I'm scared of them, when.." He looks around, and raises his voice. "I DIDN'T DO SHIT." Innocence proclaimed for anyone who cares to hear it. "Then it puts me in a bad position, any time I have to negotiate with them in the future."

Knox clears his throat, "We arrange a meet. Provide the data we have to bolster our innocence, offer our services to help….fix the situation with….fuck whatever it is some Italian underboss wants." He tries to ease the tension and puffs on his cig.

In the corner, Hek nods along with what Knox has to say. "I want at least one hundred gees."

In the corner, Mikey nods "I'm not going to agree to the price, but I'm willing to make a deal and work with them to clear this up."

In the corner, Hek says, "If fate has brought me and the Italians together, and put them in the position to need my services, well then they can pay the market rate."

In the corner, Hek grins, apparently feeling pretty full of himself. "You guys can go meet with the wops. I'd rather get started on finding that cunt and planning out some payback."

In the corner, Knox taps ash out of his cig, "Easy sparky. Easy."

Hek arches an eyebrow at Knox. "* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ***" (Cityspeak)

In the corner, Mikey frowns slightly, watching Hek carefully. "Just relax, we are going to get out of this eventually, we just have to be careful."

Knox types something into his pocsec. "Sorry love, I dont speak Streetgibberish. So, I just put something up on the land, if I dont get bites in the next thirty….best bet might be to make contact with the Chavez family contact. Maybe he or she can help reach out to Sucreasi for us."
In the corner, Hek folds his arms across his chest and leans back against the wall, skulking back into the corner now that Mikey's phone conversation is long since completely.

«Plot» Knox says, "So i think the plan, correct me if im wrong. Is the runners make contact with the mob, hek wants to dig up more info on the Triads, then we make a deal with the mob to secure our safety in exchange we offer to disrupt whatever plans teh triads have?"

Cannonball pages: Hmmmm…I just checked my contact and he's from my own formulating also just connected to them… Smuggler for the mob. That good enough for you?

«Plot» Hek says, "Yes."
«Plot» Argos says, "Looks good. Argos will contact Saul Chavez if you guys want, though he'd rather do that as a last resort. He already owes the Chavez family a few favors"
«Plot» Hek says, "Hek likes the plan. He just has IC reservations with going to beg for his life for something he didn't do. If the rest of the team wants to meet the mob, and just cover Hek's absence along the lines of, "Our associate is out there RIGHT NOW homing in on the triad bastards who fucked over you benevolent mobster types…" That would work."
Cannonball pages: Cannon is not really too close with the mob, she merely uses contact to do biz. So whether or not he's Sucreasi connected or not is a thing I don't really care too much about.
Cannonball pages: At worst I need a new contact.
«Plot» Mikey says, "Sounds good to me"
You paged Cannonball with 'Works for me, you mind rping at Cybered Arms. Youd be looking for a guy with his arm in a sling (Knox) and he'd be paying you 5kay for the honor of the contact information.'.

Knox's pocsec beeps. He checks the email, "Looks like I got a bite. Someone's on there way." He unbuttons the holster of his shoulder rig, "Just in case."

Mikey snorts, and had his already unbottoned, cause, they are wanted.

Cannonball comes in from the anteroom
Cannonball has arrived.

Hek leans against the wall in the darkest recesses of the back corner, not that it does much to hide him. The rest of the group he is with accomplishes that, as given the way the bar is laid out, they have to at least some what be between him and the door.

Knox adjusts his arms, he notices a woman walk in and he motions to her with his head.

Mikey remains quiet, hanging out in the corner and not saying anything for now. Apparently the group more than likely looks like Knox's bodyguards, well, if Knox was in better shape that is.

Argos glances over at Knox as he says he has a bite and someone is on their way. "Sounds good, hopefully they'll be able to lend a hand soon then." He sighs and reaches into his jacket to pull out a pack of cigarettes himself to relax with.

Knox scoots past Mikey, he greets the woman with as charming a smile he can manage….in a rumpled white suit with significant blood stains near the shoulder. "You're looking for Rossetti Connect?"

Once it becomes apparent that Knox knows the most recent arrival, Hek gives her the once over. What she's here for, he isn't directly involved in it. Given that, he goes back to watching the entrance.

Cannonball walks over to Keegan, asking her for her 'usual' and receiving it quickly. Meanwhile she takes the time to examine the assembled crowd. She takes a sip from her drink to establish a feel for the place, a fiberoptic wire going from her temple into her bag. Then hearing Knox's words she finally moves closer. "I don't know about Rossetti. But I heard someone looks for access to some kind of person… I'm merely a businesswoman, so I don't really care /why/ you want to see the man. What I am concerned for is whether you can guarantee the mans savety… He's a bit …. nervous. Even more with all the shit going on in Denver lately."

A tall and gaunt human enters the bar, clean shaven and in street leathers with a long coat. He grabs a seat at the bar, looks over at the group, then orders a drink from Keegan.

Mikey seems very relaxed actually, at least thats the impression he is giving, he watches the room and the people, but makes few movements at all except to turn his head slightly.

Knox clear's his throat, "I assure you swe-, miss. No harm what so ever, and your caution is appreciated, and I again /assure/ you there is no vested interest in causing your….friend harm. I just need to pass a message along and require a messenger."

Hek eyes the gaunt man when he looks over the group. Then Hek glances at the bouncers, on to Keegan, and back to the man. His attention lingers on him for a few seconds, then shifts back to the entrance.
Argos glances over at the elf as she arrives and gives her a nod in greetings. It'd been a rather long time since he last saw her. He remains quiet for now, letting her and Knox discuss a bit of business. The gaunt man just get a glance before he turns his attention back to the group. Inside the bar is generally pretty safe thankfully afterall.

Cannonball narrows her eyes as that 'swe-', most likely intended sweetheart or even sweety, is heard. She then tilts her head, "Well… I guess that is acceptable. Is there anything special about this 'message'?", she then asks a little bit colder after that slip. This is biz after all. If the guy wants to look at her tits, he should leave it until after and she considers this highly unprofessional. Quite obviously so as is shown by her facial expression of disapproval as she waits for an anser to her last question.
«Auto-Judge[]» Hek (#10968) rolls Intelligence (to Knox): 2 2 4 4 10

You paged Hek with 'The guy is packing heat, that’s about all you can tell. Then again, this is a shadowrunner bar.'.

Knox smiles tightly, "Only that's it's verbal and we need a third party to deliver it to avoid…confusion. We don’t want anyone to get hurt and using a cut out, through your friend helps. In return, a payment of 5,000 for your help."

Mikey just remains in the background, letting Knox do his thing.

Cannonball nods, "Is this an … urgent meet? I dunno if he is in town right now. He might. He should be around after his last gig. But as usually it's easier if things don't need to be hurried. And do you have references for a meet?"

Shoeshine Boy comes in from the anteroom
Shoeshine Boy has arrived.
Shoeshine Boy treads along in cheerily, hefting his large valise with the footrest on the side up top of the aged cigarette machine.

Mikey stands in the corner, watching the room carefully from the shadows.

The tall gaunt man finishes his drink, he bumps into Shoeshine on his way out, "Excuse me", he says softly as he leaves.

Shoeshine Boy has himself a refreshing limeade-strawberry, and guards his credsticks.

Shoeshine Boy gives a classic dwarven grunt.

Knox nods, "This is a very, very urgent meeting that needs to take place. Preferences are…..", he thinks, "Whevere your friend feels comfortable."

Knox is speaking with Cannonball. His left arm is in a makeshift sling of sorts and he sports several bruises, his suit is rumpled and features a large brownish stain at his left shoulder.

Hek leans against the wall in the back of the bar, minding his own business. Recognizing Shoeshine Boy, he watches the dwarf head over to the bar and climb up onto a stool. When it becomes apparent that the dwarf hasn't yet recognized him standing back there, Hek decides to leave it that way.

You paged Cannonball with 'basically in another scene, i'll be NPCing your contact to give a message to his mob contacts for Knox. that's all, but any chance to incorporate grid stuff and with other players I try to do.'.

Shoeshine Boy headtilts at the injuries, primarily because it's his experience that people with them hole up until they are better. Doesn't pay to walk about the Warrens advertising a weakness. As far as recognizing people, he was under the impression some conversations were private and so wasn't intruding. Although, with super-hearing, you'd have to talk encrypted.

You paged (Hek, Mikey, Argos) with 'perception check fellas'.

Cannonball laughs, "I doubt you want to meet /there/…", she says with an amused grin. "But I guess I can an arrange a meet. Let me check if he is in town, so I can say how quick it will go.", she says and takes out her phone, she jacks the thing into her temple, replacing it with the other cable she had in there. She then seems to be a bit 'away' for a little while, centering on a mental discussion it seems. Finally she nods, "Well… My contact is in town. And may be willing to meet you. 1K for him and he'll be happy as a bird in the air. Also may be willing to meet you here. How about in 30 minutes or so?"

«OOC» Mikey says, "I think I better step outside and keep a watch."
«OOC» Mikey says, "Knox, I'm going to ICly head outside to keep an eye on things, especially that guy who just left"

Hek eases away from the wall and slowly approaches Knox. He leans toward the ork, standing on the opposite side from the drop dead gorgeous elf.

You paged Hek with ' He seems ok to you'.

Mikey steps away from the wall, and starts for the front door, heading outside tofind a spot to hide and keep an eye on things.

Hek mutters to Knox, "We don't want to stay still for too long. Better find another spot to meet up."

You paged Mikey with 'Going outside may be a good idea, you get a bad vibe from the guy'.

Shoeshine Boy pages: Should I direct questions to you about the gaunt person who bumped into me?

You paged Shoeshine Boy with 'sure'.

«Auto-Judge[]» Knox (#4448) spends 1000 nuyen for "Credstick for contact".

Shoeshine Boy pages: Did he plant anything on me, etc? And I have recently run into a number of undercover cops; does he happen to be one and was he bumping me to tell me not to rat him out?

Knox pulls out a credstick and hands it to Cannonball, "Agreed, though the meeting will take place at coordinates decided between he and I. Hate to be paranoid, but that's the way of the game." He offers his good hand, "Pleasure doing business. Be safe out there, it's crazy these days." He offers.

You paged Shoeshine Boy with 'You check yourself, nothing on you. Guy didn't look familiar nor an undercover cop "feel"'.

Succubus has arrived.

Cannonball nods, then says, "I can transfer you a one time dropbox to contact him, if you want to do it your way. Just make sure you do this within the next two days, as he will be out of town by saturday…"
is speaking with Cannonball. His left arm is in a makeshift sling of sorts and he sports several bruises, his suit is rumpled and features a large brownish stain at his left shoulder. (repose for Succubus)
Huh? (Type "help" for help.)

Knox is speaking with Cannonball. His left arm is in a makeshift sling of sorts and he sports several bruises, his suit is rumpled and features a large brownish stain at his left shoulder. (repose for Succubus)

Knox nods politely, "That will do just fine thank you."

Shoeshine Boy amuses himself by taking out a flashpak (the legal kind they sell to old ladies to 'disorient' attackers) and looping it around his neck on a lanyard, playing with it.

Hek shifts away from Knox and back across the room. The arrival of yet another elf draws his attention, and then it lingers, unwavering, drawn toward the sort of female that most people only see on the trid. Caught between his previous inclination to blend back into the background by leaning against the darkest corner of the room, and whatever animalistic instinct are triggered by the pheromones coming from the elf, he wavers in between the two, just sort of standing there.

Succubus parts the doors to enter the establishment proper. She walks with a deliberate, practiced saunter, her motions as artifically sculpted as certain physical attributes. With the chill of the day at her back, the elven woman sheds her coat, allowing it to hand from the bends of elbows whilst she navigates a course to the bar. There, Succubus sits, legs crossing as she slides onto a waiting stool.

"Likewise," says Succubus to Shoeshine, her painted lips drawn into a subdued smile. She lifts a finger to Keegan as she passes by, and in return, a glass of something clear is served up. The Rez

The Rez is the pulsing, beating heart of the Aurora Warrens. Centered on the Quincy Reservoir, the source of much of the drinking water in the Warrens, it is bordered by Quincy Avenue to the north and Smoky Hill Road to the south. An agreement between the major gangs keeps the Rez as a neutral meeting place and market place, where organized violence on the part of a gang is met by swift reprisal from the other gangs.

From afar, to (Hek, Mikey, Knox): Cannonball noms and lets you guys go your ways.

Knox walks out and looks around for Mikey, he turns to Hek, "The fuck he go?"

Mikey is in an alley, searching the body of the man he gunned down for anything, like did he use his phone in the last five minutes or anything, send any messages, he got id?

All Hek can do is offer an unhelpful shrug in response to Knox's query. "Beats the fuck outta me."

The body reveals no personal information, save for a silenced predator pistol.

Knox holsters his gun, "Looks like word's out on us in some form or another." He takes out his cell and makes a phonecall to the number provided for a "Weasel" and places a call.

Commlink-Hek> Hek says, "Hey, everything okay?"

Commlink-Sandman> Mikey says, "Guy with a silenced preadtor, nothing else on him, he left the bar a bit too fast. I'll meet you out front."

The team drives to the meet.

Colorado Blvd and I-270 Underpass

This location under the highway is fenced in with chainlink fence. Friday nights after the sun goes down is when the up and coming street punks prove themselves by competing and challenging each other in unarmed combat. On the occasional night competitors of a higher caliber may facing off against each other and its on those nights that the bets are highest and the most money exchanges hands on the sidelines.

There are old crates stacked up on one side for seating and viewing over the heads of those which surround the fight. There are also a few other locations around if a private deal or conversation needs to take place.

Mikey hangs around looking paranoid and waiting for things to change. And change they do, his skin gradually starts to lighten, becoming first dark tan, then growing paler, until now he is a very european looking ork.

Argos is pacing a bit and smoking yet another cigarette as he waits. Most of his gear is on him and he's not even really bothering to conceal his weapon of choice, the Thunderbolt showing in its holster under his jacket. "Hopefully your contacts can work things out, omae. At least better then the last one."

For all intents and purposes, Hek could easily be there to compete in the fights that seem to draw the crowds to this part of the plex. This time though, he is only a spectator. For his part, he tries to be an anonymous one at that. Just another face in the crowds, hands deep in the pockets of his jacket. After walking through the crowds, he settles into a small group of people near one of the couple of people collecting bets and wagering odds on the combat.

The night continues to get hotter as it gets darker. There's a decent crowd here of street punks and those in the the 'street fight' scene. Argos and Knox stand out a bit, Knox particularly more in his suit. The ork fixer sits on the hood of the bea up nissan, chain smoking. Most of the crowd is on the opposite side of the Underpass. Several types of music blast from speakers in the background.

From the crowd emerges a rat faced ork in a leather bomber jacket and cargo pants. He seems uneasy here, not because of the location, but uneasy in his own skin. He even walks unsure of himself. "Hey you", he says to Hek as he gets near. "You the guy I talked to on the phone? Socks?"

Mikey tries to find a place out of the way to watch the situation, ready to react if need be, but mainly observing.

Hek looks at the ork like he is out of his mind. "Socks?" He firmly shakes his head and points toward the ring where the combat will be taking place. "You got odds on that Socks? That some action I should be looking at?" He takes a couple of steps away from the rat faced ork, feigning at paying no attention to him.

Commlink-Hek> Hek says, "Tell them the data isn't here with us."

Knox looks to Argos, "I think my decker friend here can better explain…..what we have that we'd like to pass on to the Sucreasi. Inform Luther, that we were under the impression we were working for him, and that we have proof to help facilitate an amicable agreement."

Weasel blinks, "Hey man you use a lot of big words." Weasel looks to Argos, "So whats he sayin?"

Argos nods and starts to head over to the pair of orks at the mention of data and what they have. Only to stop as he hears the comms, glancing back over to 'Mikey' briefly before looking over at Knox. "Well, we should get to a more… private setting before showing off all our goods."

Mikey keeps looking around, watching for any signs of trouble. His hands are in his pockets, fingering a couple of grenades he has.

Weasel touches something at his ear, he nods then looks to Argos, "This is pretty private. What is it you want me to say?"

From the overpass, a pristine black Nissan-Sikorsky SUV pulls off to the side, close to where Knox, Argos, and Weasel are speaking. It flashes it's high beams twice, then turns it's engine off. Weasel motions, "Will that do?"

Commlink-Argos> Argos says, "New guy is packing some heat and reeks of confidence, guys…"

Knox turns around, at the same time Weasel slowly backs away with his hands up. "Fine, you talk to HIM directly then." Weasel slowly fades into the crowd.

Knox interjects with "Sucreasi?"

The man shakes his head, "Bingo: He and pizza supremo Innocenti. That leaves us with a problem seeing as you seem to be the people behind put two buttons in his skull ya hear?"

Knox looks to Argos, "I think we should show him……"

Argos nods softly at that and moves to unsling his deck. "The data is right here. Give me a second and I'll burn it onto a chip for ya." He reaches into his jacket, the side that DOESN'T have the pistol and pulls out a fresh chip, moving slowly. "Just take me a minute or two."

The Man nods and waits for the information, he in turn pulls out a small pocket computer and waits.

«Auto-Judge[]» Argos (#11351) uses 1 of item 3: Optical Memory Chip (1000 MP) from Microtronics (#11348).

Argos finishes copying the information and removes it from his deck, moving to hand it over to the mystery man with the gun. He's moving slowly and stiffly so as not to make any move that might get him ventilated though. Yeah, he might be just a little to cautious around mobsters.

Knox clears his throat, "I think that should explain some….we're not too sure but, we feel that The Triads, specifically the 88's are making some kind of move on you and the yaks……so trying to pin all this on some runners would make you a little….vulnerable." The ork offers, "We're not sure if Rosseti is a roughe part of your organization or-" The Man holds up a finger for the ork to shut up.

The Man looks to Argos "So where did you get this?"

Several members of the crowd casually form a ring around the little pow wow. A larger italian-spanish mix man gives Mikey a wink. Two more saddle up next to Hek, within several yards. They're not doing anything right now, just being you know….lackeys.

Argos pages: Just to verify, we got it from the yaks mainframe from their laundry front, right?

Mikey remains where he is, watching everything calmly, ready to act if things go to hell, escape routes in his mind, ways to evade pursuit or at least fight some of them off until he can withdrawl.

Argos glances around as he sees that they're being ringed in. Well this could get ugly if they don't like the answers they have. "Got that from the yakuza's computers in one of their laundry fronts. Think it was on… 6th Avenue around the freeway park."

Hek plays it cool, letting those with the capacity to work out the business, do so.

The Man nods slowly and scans the information, "Funny…..we got bad photoshopped images of each of you and some descriptions, you-", he points to Knox, "We were told you were involved and we know you've done work with the Vory in the past." Knox seems to blanche slightly, "But we figured it was contract work, maybe Big Man was selling us out for a tidy profit." The Man chuckles, "Rosetti are a collective of smugglers and BTL producers, they do some small time shit on the side but the Yakuza let it slide. We buy high end stuff Nova, BTL from the Osaka's, they're the middle men. We never were sure who the Yaks were buying from. If you're saying the 88's are trying to muscle their way in and this was one way-" he shrugs, "It ain't too shabby. Kind of obvious after the fact, but hey……"

Knox looks to Argos and smiles slightly, "So….."

The Man looks down at the info, "The Yaks usually were importing this stuff out near Aurora through Rosseti, I guess. You bring me some solid proof that they're workin' with the good old CHiiiiiiinesee and that lets me put this thing with Big to rest. Sound rosy?"

Mikey remains impassive, not sure how this will end, and not really able to overhear Knox and Argos's discussion with the man. He simply keeps ready for when things might go south.

Argos blinks a bit at that and frowns as he hears the part about badly photoshopped pictures. "Geez, if they're gonna frame us, think they'd at least make it a better attempt." However, the deal sounds good to him, and might even mean getting in good with another mob family. Still, he looks over to Knox and shrugs slightly. "Sounds good to me so far, but this was originally your show."

Knox scratches at his mouth

Commlink-Simmons Fixer> Knox says, "Seems to believe, wants surveillance of rosseti with triads. pretty simple."
Commlink-Hek> Hek says, "Whatever needs to be done."
Commlink-Sandman> Mikey says, "Go for it"

Knox frowns, "That's fair. But seeing how we're out our original contract payment, and we've brought you effectively paydata…."

The Man nods, "What was the balance?"

"30,000"

"Fine."

Knox adds, "Uh plus expenses."

"Yea, whatever. It's your ass if you can't pull through, so sure expenses."

The Man provides a datachip with some rough specs on it to Argos. He nods at Knox, then Argos, then the general direction of Hek and Mikey. "My numbers on the chip. Don't dissapoint." He gets in the car, turns around and heads back for the highway. The fights continue and the mob guards make their way out of the area as well.

Flint relaxes a bit when things calm down, and regroups with the others to talk about how to proceed.

** 24 Hours Later**

In Knox's office, Argos uses a dataline tap to create an illegal jackpoint. He follows the trail of the Rossetti gang from the Yakuza chip and the information that the Sucreasi contact provided and figures out that the smuggling ring will be meeting up with the Triads not far from Aurora, a few miles south of The Rag Doll. Argos pulls up an outdated satellite map of the area, "It's an abandoned development looks like. Some half finished homes….nice wide road for landing a LTA vehicle. No matrix security that I can think of, but I'm gonna deck into some low level traffic systems in the area, re-reroute the power back into The Rag Doll's security feed and be on tap for comcall. You guys have any problems, I'll make it look like multiple panic buttons are being smacked all over the bar. Everything turns good, I'll wire Henry's cam-feed to the data drop Mr. Johnson, ahem, provided."

Hek's gloved hands squeal around the grips of his new Ingram SMG. "I'll take cover over to Little Asia, any big groups that look like The 88's heading your way, you know for back up or whatever….I'll set 'em up for a distraction. Make 'em think we're all attacking them."

Knox turns his head to Flit, his dirty leather jacket and hoodie are in stark contrast to his typica clothes. He hefts a medium sized gym bag with surveillance equip across his back, a silenced Browning pistol at the small of his back. "I hope a ride with you, you help get us as close as possible to the meet between the 88's and Rossettis, bing bang boom and we're out darling. Thoughts?"

Flint shakes his head. "Nothing, just that we need to lay low and get this thing on tape and get out of there. No mess needed in this situation."

It's quiet, warm, and a bit breezy tonight. Knox pats absently at a chest pocket, "Christ," he whispers, "I could use a smoke right now." He pads in tan construction boots behind Flint, keeping his senses out. The area surrounding the two is like a suburban street in Anywhere, USA except only a quarter of the way built, decades worth of graffiti and piss cover what stands for a structure here, and the few ranch homes that look completed are merely shells. A blockade of Asian men armed with assault rifles are up ahead at about a quarter mile, a passing squatter is shot at for fun. The small dark form of a man quickly scrambles.

Garbled yelling, two flashlights turn on, or a car….hard to tell this far. The pair of lights slowly coast down the single lane street. The two lights split apart going through ruined lawns, piles of garbage, squatter tents. Knox ducks down low, he slowly opens the zip bag and pulls out a shotgun microphone with pistol grip, anud an attached camcorder. "Um", he hems and haws. "Whatever distance this is? Cut that in half, I think?"

VUM VUM VUM VUM VUMMMMMMM

After another minute and a half of speed sneaking the duo make it to the outskirts of the meet:

A dozen armed Triads, a grounded LTA vehicle with a portable conveyor belt of some kind set up between it's large open storage area, and several GMC Bulldog stepvans idling. A generator powers two small halogen flood lamps that barely illuminate the area. A group of men and women dressed in street clothes and piloting wear have their arms crossed. One of the Triads has a gun pointed in the face of the "leader."

«OOC» Flint says, "Building nearby for us to perch on?"
«OOC» Knox says, "Several, all one stories"

Flint slowly pulls up his sleeve, and removes something, handing it over to knox «Put this on your wrist, its a grapple, will get you on the roof». He pulls out some gloves and kneepads from his pocket, and starts free climbing the building with gecko gloves

Flint scales up the side of the building fairly fast. Once on the roof, he crouches low, and then moves to help Knox up with that wrist grappel gun, hopefully the ork can manage the task.

The rumbling of several trucks, a low powered LTA, and a diesel generator help cover up whatever sound the grapple hook makes. The items hooks onto a piece of leftover brick chimney, amazingly it doesn't crumble on impact. The line recoils and up Knox goes, quietly as he can. Once on board, the ork lies flat on his stomach setting up the Microcamcorder and shotgun Mic on the group. Knox taps something into a small pocsec that fires a burst transimission into the teams commlinks to overhear what he hears.

TRIAD: "….Taking over business from previous partner, will pay you 5 Percent more per delivery….."
LEADER: "….That's…fine….I will set up new route, but we don't do KONG chips. Shit breaks in transit."
TRIAD: "Ms. Ling say you would say that. I tell you that's ok, no no problem. We start with half beetle half Kong, any break you don't pay damage."
LEADER: "Ok….HISSSSSSS"

Knox adjusts the shotgun microphone

LEADER: ….but I never met Osaka. We contacted 3rd person with drop coordinates….HISSSSS (Knox adjusts again)……pick….up……after we left. Deal though."

The leader of the Rossetti gang shakes hands with the Triad representative. Knox looks over at Flint »We got what we need. Lets stay here till they all clear out, Argos I'm transmitting now with images.«

Commlink-Sandman> Flint says, "Alright, we should just wait until they are long gone, we arent in a hurry."

Flint lays low on the roof, simply content to spend most of the night here if necessary. No point rushing off and getting caught by some strays.

The next morning, hours after the power play has been recorded Knox opens a cautious eye, "I fucking stink of sweat and garbage. Oh wait." He clears his throat and lets loose a gob of spit over the edge of the roof. His pocsec beeps with an incoming call, the number unknown, he picks it up. "I guess I shouldn't be surprised you have my number. Oh, oh you have all our numbers. Did you get the package and-….uh huh…and you…it's clear to you. Uh-huh. And the matter of payme-…..already delivered to my office. Yes thank you, sir. I appreciate the /favor/ of clearing our names and reps yes. No, I know Mr. Sucreasi won't forget it." Knox hangs up and looks at Flint, "It's over."

Flint nods, having not slept at all, he seems to be able to go forever without rest. "Alright, lets get you off this rooftop and out of here. Hopefully no ones trashed my bike while we waited." He helps you off the roof, then of course gives you a ride back to your office so he can collect his payment.

Knox nods, "Yep. I need a drink….."

The End.
