Synopsis: The two mages visited a Metaplane to learn some magic . I'm sure you've seen this one before (find the easter egg!)

«Plot» AdamLOG turns the log on. The usual OOC chatter to PR6 (or SH chan)
«Plot» Annie will be doing a Rating 7 Quest for aid in learning the Enhance Aim - Extended Range spell.
«Plot» Adam will be doing a Rating 5 quest for aid in learning the Alter Memory spell.

Annie takes a nice leisurely bubble bath to start the evening, putting on a nice soft chiffon robe and taking a half hour to dry her hair. She then walks into her workshop, spends a few quiet moments in meditation, then places the little sticky biomonitors on the appropriate places of her anatomy. Once that is complete she links the mage tank to the McCaffrey tower security net and shunts in the feeds from her biomonitors.

"Frankie?", Annie speaks softly into the security commlink.

Frankie replies, "Yes, Miss Medaron?"

Annie chuckles and responds, "I'm going out again…keep an eye on my feeds for me.", she pauses until the security guard answers in the affirmative and then adds, "Thanks!"

The body temperature gel bath that fills the tank is a welcoming embrace and Annie sighs softly as she makes her self comfortable. The lid slides closed with a soft hiss of pressurized air and the gentle sounds of waves crashing into the beach on Maui fill the tank, interspersed with the occasional soft cries of sandpipers and seagulls. She closes her eyes and exhales slowly, then inhales, then exhales again as she puts her mind into the semblance of a zen state.

She finally lets herself go, her astral presence rising up and out of the tank. She hovers over the coffin-like mage tank for a few moments, then takes the 'sideways' step to the threshold of the metaplanes. She waits for the scene to resolve itself and begin her usual opening banter with the Dweller.

Annie arrives on the Metaplanes, then takes a moment to look around for her traveling companions.
Its another day and— well another time to go to the metaplanes. This time Adam is going to pick up a spell per Air's request, and fortunately has the good graces to use Annie's library tolearn it without having to scrawl it from scratch. He adjourns to the Aquatic Observatory and pats Lillian on the head once before slipping off— out of his body and head out to the threshold to meet up with Annie. Cue darkness, travel, and the soon to be obnoxious and all-knowing Dweller.

There is a book— albiet a large book— floating in front of them. It opens its red leather bound cover. The pages are empty. A single quill appears and scrawls 'You killed a child'. The quill floats over to Annie to hold. Another quill appears and writes just below it 'You killed a mother'. That quill goes to Adam.

Text appears on it's own, asking: Why?

Damn those crazy psycho infants and get-in-the way moms— always making shadowrunners explain themselves. The book closes with a loud clap as the world around the two comes to life. They are in a small village— looks to be in the dark ages at that. The first tip off is that they are standing a few feet away from the city guardsmen that are charging at full bore towards them, blades risen in anger and swinging mercilessly as if thier existance here was a crime against humanity.

Adam pops out his hand blade when the guards come after. At this point— you really become a touch desensitized by what the planes throw at you, "Battle?" he muses to Annie as the guards show no sign of peaceful negotiation. One deft parry from his handblade and he Assassin Creed's the man in the neck— dropping his opponent like a stock sprite.

Annie hears the clattering of armor and draws her staff from it's case on her belt. The telescoping staff flicks to it's full length with a soft *snikt* sound, the orichalcum runes filling with a soft pastel blue light that seems to flow outward from where the elf mage grips the handle. The runes begin pulsing in time to her elevating heartbeat as Annie goes on the offensive. A soft buzzing sound seems to emit from the weapon as she engages her opponent, almost gleeful in pitch as if the weapon is really getting a kick out of this. The buzzing shifts and takes on a recognizable tune: namely Flight of the Valkyries. Her metal staff and the guardsmans sword crosses once, then twice. Then the soldier has his feet swept out from under him and goes down hard. The Earth Mage sweeps in and finishes him off with a loud ringing blow to his helmet.

With the soldiers down— it seems like everything is right with the world again, even when the world isn't real and a bunch of maniac just tried to run you through. In the small town the runner notice that there are symbols on all of the houses here. The doors to all of them are barred shut. Yet, when a hand is run over them, they glow. It requires a certain sequence across the dozen or so runes that are scattered about, but there is an algorithm. It looks vaguely like…

Kittens?

Adam spends a lot of time running around the buildings— feeling them out for what kind of algorithm it is. After he gets the idea of what they want, the rest is childs play— hitting them in the correct sequence and getting a little 'ding' for a reward. Where did the ding come from? Its the metaplanes, who cares?

Annie simply walks to a point where she can see the full puzzle and sits down cross-legged on the ground. She observes the puzzle for a few seconds, then closes her eyes and simply works through the potential permutations in her mind. Finally she stands up and physically alters it, and a moment later is also rewarded with the same 'Ding' as Adam.

So the ding actually matters for a change. It keeps going 'ding' and then 'ding' again. With that third 'dinger' one of the houses begins to move— coming to life in a very, very big Earth Elemental that doesnt look too happy being woken up.

Annie turns toward the lumbering elemental and offers a winning grin. "Greetings brother!", she calls in good-natured tones before adding, "Sorry I need to do this…but I need you to go away for now." Her hand rises up and she sketched a pentagram in the air before her, the lines glowing with a brilliant neon green for a few seconds before dissolving into glittering motes and slowly drifting down toward the ground. "Begone. Farewell. Until we meet again!", she calls out in an almost singsong tone. The elemental shrieks and seems to diminish dramatically in size, but manages to remain.

What is left of the ever-shrinking elemental is handled by Adam. He tries not to chuckle at the big house of an earth elemental is now the size of a great dane. Adam adds in his own magical force to the mix, is careful not to cross the beams, and the elemental is so much dust in the wind. One less test.

Being blasted into dust has a side effect that the dust is— to some extent— magical. It causes feverish anxiety in those in the area, much like biological warfare for the Sixth World, that is not so easy to overcome.

Adam puts a hand over his mouth and coughs a bit as the dust circulates around him. He begins to sweat and his pupils dialate as if he is going on a bad trip— but otherwise he holds himself together through the panic attack. Doing mind tricks on an Illusionist and Manipulator doesn't exactly work too well.

Annie lowers her head, one hand pulling up her dust scarf to cover her mouth and lower face. Choking an Earth Elementalist with her element isn't a guaranteed fear factor…but it's still a formidable test. She grits her teeth and forces the lingering fear out of her mind.

As the side effects begin to wear off— the dust stays in the air. It begins to get thicker— making vision difficult. Yet like all tests, it has telltale signs of what trial is involved. The manipulation of manage in general disperses it, though a great deal of sorcery would be require to clear it from this township.

Adam focuses his energies into nondescript manipuation of the fold of mana. It involves quite a bit of somatic motion to sweep the dust-laden air that is around him out— like a magical windmill of great justice.

Annie raises her hands slightly and focuses her sorcery into a magical barrier around herself, then expands it outward to push the dust away from her.

When the dust settles— they are confronted by a mirror replica of themselves. Likely a copy that will kill them, or otherwise be a very annoying twin at parties.

Adam looks at the twin— looks over to Annie and her twin, "Mmm. Yeah," he says like a bad Office Space spin off. He summons a stapler and stables Fake Adam in the head— shattering him like a pane of glass.

Annie cocks her head slightly as she examines her twin, then shakes it sadly. "It just won't work. Guys hate twins.", she adds after a moment and then strikes the mirror image with her staff, shattering it in a similar manner to Adams.

As the shards of the former twins hit the ground— they sweep away towards a stone wall bordering this humble city. Soon the shards become like a large stained glass door, of which it is opened and beams of light shoot from behind it. A man steps out— in robes and looks to the two. "You have passed all trials— all trials but one. Why would we let the likes of you defile a holy Citadel in our realm?"

Adam answers, "Because we have been found worthy by your laws— and by our actions." Yeah, keep it simple.

Annie shrugs and answers after a moment of consideration. "I have been here countless hundreds of times over the years. I follow the rules and I honor spirits in my day to day practices. I am more at home here than in my own realm.", she chuckles, "And what he said", she indicates Adam with a toss of her chin.

And they make it to the Citadel. There was much rejoicing.

Annie says "Yay!"

Annie joins up with her Avatar Hecate, then disappears into one of the libraries to learn what she needs.
