Its a saturday night, and while that normally means folks are out on the town having fun, in some circles its a work evening. Hek gets a text from Caine, suggesting that Caine has work for the man, if he will meet him at the back room to the Cool Cat Club in a few hours.

Hek has been working late, at least that is the story that has been rehersing since getting the text from Caine. Working late, stopped by the club on his way home. All perfectly logical reasoning for a guy like Hiroshi Namoto, Japanese salariman. Who are we kidding? The SIN fits Hek about as well as spandex does a fat chick. But the guy is a TightFisted bastard, and if he paid for the asset, he is going to use it, damn it.
He travels light, just his body armor beneath the lined overcoat, and a couple of pistols. Not that he intends to get stopped or pulled over in the Americar. It fits in, just another artifact of the corporate security state. Unmarked, unremarkable. He leaves it in the lot at the club, and makes his way through the proper part of it to the back room.

Caine is seated in his own chair today, it fits well in the cool cat, the hoverchair is pretty nice, comfortable, and outfitted with gadgets. He flips a switch, and there is a hum of a WNG. He nods as he enters, and gestures for a chair at the table. "Thanks for coming, I needed someone with a bit of electrical expertise. Think your up for a quick job?"

Hek, always one to appreciate the types of surroundings that people like Caine and himself have to pay to be allowed into, takes his time surveying the back room. "Yeah, sure chummer.." He nods slowly, mentally calculating the worth of the place. "I have to pick up my tools though. Don't just walk around, ready to fix things."

Caine reaches into a pocket, pulling out a pocsec and then laying it on the table, he slides it over with a small push. "Info is on the device."

Data:

Lindons Limo Service

Hek looks at Caine's pocsec while at the same time researching the subject matter on his own. "Alright.." The man's attention is already half gone, jacked into a data feed about the economics of urban car services and the reputation of Lindons Limo Service among the providers of those services in the Denver metroplex. "You, uh… lookin' to go into the transportation business?" He uses a low tone out of habit, doing everything he can to lower his voice as if the white noise generator was not there to lean on. "Decent money. But I'm guessing, knowing you. You're probably interested in keeping tabs on them, maybe?"

Caine smiles, raising a finger to touch his nose. "I want you to connect a databurst device to the limo's system, record all the cars gps and all that, and send it out to the person behind this little task. One on each car."

Hek sits still while he listens, one of the few times that such a thing ever happens. "Seems straightforward enough."

Caine nods "Thats it, the whole job, ten each, and I'll be making sure no one spots you, and keep an eye on things. No security, just cameras and some drones inside, so you will have to be a little discreet, but I should be able to let you know when a drone is moving in your area. One of those little patrol things."

Hek hrms thoughtfully. "Drones, huh? Should I get a … baseball bat, or something?" As he speaks, he chops the ridge of his palm down into his other palm a few times.

Caine shakes his head, "If they get active and we have to bail, we just escape. The drones appear to be equipped with tranq guns and tasers….guess they didn't want it messing up the paint jobs."

Hek sits up a bit straighter in the chair at the mention of the drones being armed. "How many of these things did you say that there are? And can we shut them down? Maybe I can get into the office, see what is up.." He treads carefully around the idea of modifying the plan, wanting to give Caine the respect he is due for thinking through as much of the heist as he has.

Caine shakes his head, "Not unless your a rigger and can hijack thier signals. My…information comes from an employee who couldn't resist my charms." he wiggles a finger. "The owner is a rigger, started with one limo, eventually expanded. The drones are his, and he has preprogrammed them to wander various patterns through the vehicles, anything they detect larger than a rat, they fire a taser or tranq dart. He has them encrypted, and he shows up in the morning to turn them off." He smirks, "Guy I delt with remembers one of the drivers coming in one night to try to use a limo for a hot date….found him unconsious with a dart in his ass the next morning."

Hek continues listening closely as Caine details the diabolical setup that the rigger has put together to protect his assets. It dawns on him that he is graduating onto more complicated scores that he has been used to prior to coming to Denver. "Seems like the guy knows his shit. Alright, I'm in."

Caine nods "The guys weakness, is my strength. Magic. Apparently he didn't trust a mage enough to even ward the place, so I can keep an eye on the drones via my magic. I watched them last night, and I tested something with my ally. If your laying on the roof, they won't notice you, you blend into the car I guess, or perhaps its because they are close to the ground. So I can float you to a roof, you get the sunroof open…." he leaves the rest, by spreading his hands. You just have to move slowly and quietly, and that should take care of things."

Hek cannot help but smile at the details that Caine has considered. "Sounds like a fraggin sim omae." He sounds slightly awestruck as his mind begins to drift to thoughts of what to spend, what seems to be any easy ten kay, on.

Caine chuckles "Sometimes folks make stupid mistakes and we take advantage of them. Sadly, my employeer already knew this info, so I couldn't fake getting a better deal."

Hek pushes himself, and the chair, away from the table. "I guess that I am driving?"

Caine nods "Let me return my chair here to my truck first." He activates the chair, a faint hum and whoosh of air lifting it up, he then starts guiding it towards the door. "Meet you at your car."

«Game» Backup to offline storage commencing. Game may freeze for a bit…

Hek decides to continue traveling light, and after stopping by the storage place, plugs the destination into the AutoNav system and heads in that direction. The neighborhood where the limo company is seems to be about what one would expect. Light industrial, the kind of place where someone can afford enough storage space to park and work on half a dozen limosuines. "I sure would like one of those beauties.." Hek has not shut up about the Mitsubishi Nightsky the entire trip, having been feasting on car porn and thinking about how many places he could safely travel to as a 'chauffeur'.

Caine chuckles as he rides along in the passenger seat. "Well, perhaps we can take one later, after my current employeer has done his business."

The target building is at the edge of the industrial park, actually bordering a hardware store on one side, and a fedex shipping center on the other. The building has three garage doors in the front, and three in the back, opening to the streets on each side. Its fairly narrow, not much beyond the three doors and room to walk around whatever cars are inside. On the front are large windows up high, letting in plenty of light during the day. The back has smaller windows, obviously a second floor office in the back half of the building.

There are a few closed stores a block or two away, but the activity here seems to be daytime, evenings apparently sends folks home.

Hek pulls the car over to the curb in the modicum of shadow in between two street lights. The matte, gunmetal grey Americar does what it can to absorb any light that hits it. That Hek has let it get a bit dirty helps even more. "You seem to have done quite the go to on this place." Hek speaks to Caine, while looking through the windshield at the garage about half a block down the street. "Got any suggestions on entering? I can probably go right the service door… so long as you can make sure there won't be a drone waiting on the other side."

Caine shakes his head, pointing up to the windows. "I figure making you fly is going to be the key here. These drones are close to the ground, and while yes they do have radar above them, if I keep you near things, that should mask you enough. I lift you up to a window, you break in. Then I follow. I'll stay at the window, watching you and moving you from limo roof to limo roof." He grins, "Sorry, as you said, I really thought this out, so I just needed someone to handle all the electrical work, alarms, all that."

Hek nods then sits silently, solemnly, focused on his breathing and just waiting the streets as he gets a feel for the neigbhorhood. It truly does seem to be sparsely populated. Even the vehicles that drive pay seem to pay no attention to the car parked there, not that they could even see the occupants through the blacked out windows if they were looking. Security patrols, both municipal and private seem non-existant, at least in the five plus minute that Hek seems content to just watch the world go by while altering his appearance. Big sunglasses, some extra facial hair to make his beard look much thicker and unruly. A baseball cap, pulled down over his face. Not much, but hopefully enough to obscure any security camera footage.
"Let's do this." He finally speaks, then gets out of the car. From the trunk he retrieves his electronics tool kit. It seems so empty, the trunk that is. Without the regular assortment of automatic weapons, there is just so much free space. Better that, than having to explain things at a traffic stop, Hek surmises. "Let's move chummer." With that he heads off down the street, instinctively sticking to the shadows

Caine steps out, but when he does, he looks totally different, a physical mask spell, somewhat matching Heks disguise, he looks like an older man now, perhaps like Heks dad, some 60 year old guy. He uses his cane, walking slowly around the back as Hek gets his stuff. "Alley, and then we vanish from sight." He taps his canea bit.

Hek must think that this is going to be easy, as though while he is indiscrete, he does not quite manifest his usual level of patience and care towards not being obvious in his actions. The garage is ahead, and there is an alley alongside it. There is really not way to explain their presence there, so Hek resigns himself to the inevitable.

Caine moves along with Hek, and into the alley. He seems to know when folks are in sight, likely due to his ally watching from above. He vanishes quickly, just dissapearing entirely in an instant. He then weaves his magic to make Hek vanish, and then, to make Hek fly. Caine has his levitate, its slow, but it works. He floats up invisibly to a second story window, one of the ones open to the main area, overlooking the limos parked below. Hek is lifted up to follow Caine, and held on he ledge next to the window. Caine whispers, "Ok, your time to shine."

The window has an alarm, and a simple locking mechanism. The alarm is likely to a panicbutton setup, not extremly complex, but the limo's themselves probably have better equipment.

Hek relaxes and lets Caine work his magic, doing his best not to fight the strange feeling of being levitated two stories above the alleyway below. "I'm trustin you chummer.." The air mutters, the source of the words obscured from sight.
Turning his attention to the task at hand, he checks the usual contact points around the window and identifies the alarm mechanism. "Pretty standard. Should not take long.."

You manage, but its definatly slow and careful.

Slow and steady seems to be the theme for the evening. For someone who has done what he does as many times as he has done it, Hek sure does not do it quickly.

Caine says nothing, but you can hear his breathing. He is there, but won't be going inside.

The window is easy to open now, it squeaks a bit, but nothing major. When that happens, Caine will be slowly moving you inside, and then there is a moment of waiting. You hover against the wall, pushed against it almost, you feel magical pressure holding you down, its strong too.

Below are the limos, and there are two drones. As you watch, they roll around, seemingly no real pattern, just never getting two close to each other, apparently covering the area as best they can.

Hek watches the movement of the drones, studying the pattern, trying to find a gap in the coverage. Eventually he admits that the rigger has managed to program a, "Good pathing pattern." The observation is delivered with an invisible nod of approval. "Let's start on the back side and work back this way."

Caine grunts faintly, its heard from the window. You feel yourself move rapidly along the wall, towards the offices, the last two limos half hidden by the upstairs offices. You can see the stairs on the other side of the room, leading up to the second floor office with windows looking down. Then you are suddenly going down, fast, the closest drone is going around the far car, half blocked from sight, and thats when Caine sends you almost falling to the roof of the limo……Caine hopes you don't scream.

Already slightly off kilter due to not having his feet firmly on the ground, Hek finds the rapid movement through the airspace over the limos to be down right disconcerting. Instinct has him throwing his hands out in front of him to ward off the inevitable collision, until the martial training kicks in and he unlocks his elbows. Gently hugging himself to cushion the inevitable impact, Hek seems surprised to find himself on the roof of the limo. So surprised in fact that he barely manages to grab handfuls of thin cracks between the door and the bodywork.

Caine actually stops you just a few inches from the limo, the last bit slowly touching you down on it. You can feel your weight start to settle on the roof slowly, but, not all of it. You can control your movement now, but its like you only weight ten pounds all over your body.

Hek mutters as quietly as possible into his commlink.
Commlink-TightFist> Hek says, "Usually the best way to get into these things is from underneath, in through the engine compartment. I can try going through the roof, but it is going to be a bitch."
Commlink-Geppetto> Caine says, "I considered that, but those drones are so small, I bet they can easily see under the cars. Go in, work through the dash system."

As Hek sets to work, it quickly becomes apparent that he was doing more than just mentally masturbating over the datafeed of car porn on the way to the job. The man makes rather short order of the factory anti-theft system, by first exposing the motor to the sunroof and then bypassing the anti-tamper circuits. From there it is a simple matter of putting power to it and holding his breath while the motor whirrs away. Luckily executives who can afford Nightsky's expect luxury, and the motor is practically silent.

The factory system, but a decient version. You do manage to cut through it fast though. Then your inside, and now you have to deal with the console up front, luckily the partition is down, and you can crawl up front easily, especially since you feel like you weigh nothing at the moment.

«Game» Backup to offline storage commencing. Game may freeze for a bit…
"Let's see where you've been." Hek murmurs to the vehicle as he lays his electronics kit out on the passenger seat. Wielding a screwdriver in one hand and a probe in the other, he sets to work on opening up the dashboard.

Sweat trips down his brow as he works around the edge of the dashboard. Time and time again the well designed interior foils his attempts. Too many pop rivets, too many re-enforced corners. The designers built the vehicle with the intention of flattening high velocity lead, and that works against Hek in the interior.
None the less he stays focused at the task at hand. The entire time his eyes glow as he cybernetically takes notes, feeding his thoughts into text inside the pocket secretary. Learning from his mistakes, updating the photographs pulled from various vehicle websites, all of them marketing quality with no real technical value or detail.
«Plot» Caine says, "Future attempts will be at TN 4 on dash, TN 6 to wire up devices. For the rest of the limos."

Commlink-TightFist> Hek mutters into the radio while connecting the data capturing device to the makeshift dataport that he had to wire into the harness of the vehicle. "Just about done in here. This is going to be a bitch omae. These little whores do not want anyone getting at their brains. Good thing this box of yours knows how to speak Mitsu-esse… and knows what to get."
The connection established, Hek looks over his shoulder at the expansive rear compartment of vehicle. "Oh yeah. I could do a lot with something like this." The transfer hums away.
Commlink-Geppetto> Caine says, "Your doing fine, let me know when you want out."
Commlink-Geppetto> Caine says, "Climb back on the roof, close the sunroof, and I'll move you to the next one when the drones are clear"
Hek does just that, after packing his tools back up. As he lays on top of the car, he listens to the nearly inaudible squeel of the drones as they move around on electric power a few feet beneath his position.

Its slow going, back on the roof, then waiting till the drones are out of position, and quick jerk as you fly horizontally to another roof, then a stop, and your free to work again. This process will repeat each time.

The next one is like a walk in the park as Hek refers to his notes and further updates them with things like voltages required. "I wonder how much a How to Jack a Nightsky manual would go for on Shadowland.." He muses into the commlink, always trying to figure out a way to maximize the return on the time spent. In fact he is still thinking that thought while laying on an invisible bed, floating onto the next Nightsky.

A glitch in the process, voltage slipping out of the curve and a visible redlight on the bypass harness. "These things are fucking particular omae.." Hek mutters into the radio, silently praising the low level encryption that keeps their communications secure.

By the end, Hek has everything dialed in and the process pretty much completes itself. Or more appropriately, the pocket secretary does. Reprogrammed on the fly, with Caine's data box connected to one of the ports, the device whirs away. Hek rests it on his lap, and the projection of the corporate secretary plays with the controls to the vehicle. The screen in the dashboard flashes through sequence after sequence, memory dumps and streams of code flying across it.

The drones make thier routes, once or twice stopping just outside one of the limo's that Hek is in, but then simply turning and heading back another direction, likely a moment to calculate a new path. If someone had come in on foot, they would had had to deal with the drone, and who knows how that would end. The magic flying circus that Hek is a part of, seems to manage to finish, though it does take over an hour to complete the whole task. Hek is raised back up to the window, quickly and almost slamming into the wall, but at the last moment he stops and is lifted out the window and back to the ground.

Hek moves onces he hits the ground, out to the edge of the alley. Cybernetics optics magnify the available light, turning the industrial night into passably usable day. Ears listen for anything out of the ordinary. Finding nothing out of sorts, Hek walks slowly to the vehicle… forcing himself to do so, appearing like some poor bastard who just got off work.

Caine cleans up all the spell traces he left, and then follows Hek back to the car, why were they there? Ehh, who knows, and only if someone notices something will they likely check the local footage on security cameras. Lets hope no other team was nearby commiting atrocities.

The pair heads back, and Caine passes a credstick to Hek, the stick reading fifteen. "I will tell my backer it took a very talented worker, so consider that a bonus."

Hek drops Caine off at Falstaff's, and then checks in with Smiley. The Sureno's are notorious for their car jacking sprees, and Hek figures those notes might be worth something. Of course not to Smiley. That vato is too freaking stupid to understand what to do with anything other than drugs, and women who like to be the play toys of the guys the gang has hooked up to low quality sim recorders. It's the stuff that cheap, street BTLs are made of.
Maybe Shadowland might be a better place to sell it. Hek considers it, forcing himself to be patient and not compromise whatever it is that Caine and his unnamed associate have going on. Making a copy of the data onto a chip, he then ejects it and secrets it away into the lining of his body armor.
