Log: Just another Walk.
DM: Indrakashi
Players: Teutonic. Turk. Katral. Bigman. Miyo left because they didn't want to actually risk being in danger at this level of plot.
Winter is a most horrible time of the year, the ads always lie. It's cold, the snow clings, when it's warm, it turns to slush. So why would any of them respond to a Shadow drop about work? Asking people to meet in an abandoned cafe in some C Zone?
Miyo does not like being cold, that much is for sure. When Miyo arrives at the cafe meet-up zone, she is bundled up. While the gear she has is quite warm, including a long, dark coat over slacks and a dark shirt, as well as a dense, hooded cloak over that, it also is not overly bulky which is good for someone as mobile as her. She tugs the scarf she has wrapped around her face down and lets out a sigh. "I hate this weather…" She rubs her gloved hands together for warmth.
The obvious answer? For the nuyen. The TRUTH, however? Because it was a trap.
Turk knew it was a trap. No doubt in his mind - all the data points fit. TWELFTH of January? C zone? WINTER?! Must he paint a picture? It was obvious that the whole situation was being deviced by the twelve masters of the Winter Sea. But to what purpose? To what end were they testing the halfer now?
Only one way to find out. Thus it is that the halfer heads to the meet, parking the Tsarina some ways away and double checking his load out. One suit for 'pleasant' business, even a nice permit for the cerebus - that one's tucked away elsewhere. No, this is for the 'less pleasant' business, keeping a fine line between the life he had built up under a false name and the life he lived hunting out the conspiracies that surround him.
Like aliens.
Teutonic got the notice through the normal channels, but he didn't really want to come. It was cold and slushy. On the other hand, he just put a sizeable dent in his wallet getting that armor transported from germany, so to C Zone it is. The little ford americar drives like the beat up thing it is, but it gets there and he pulls off to the side a little ways away before removing his gear from the smugglers compartment. Yep, this'll do.
Stepping out, he begins the journey towards the meet area. It might be a trap, might be money too, so either way, if there's money, he needs more money. It's all about the nuyen.
The door isn't locked, the heat is barely ruining, not that it overly matters, the man inside is in a wheel chair, on life support. He may have been an elf, if not for the terrible burns to his face. His breath is wheezing and he needs a vocalizer to be heard. Some how? That shotgun in his lap? You suspect he can still use it.
"Good. Safety in numbers.
"He wheezes out before slowly wheeling forward with the control stick to one of the tables and a WNG pops on.
"I was once part of an Ares FRT. This is how my team tried to force me to retire."
Miyo gets a good look at the burned up elf. "Uggh… not the kind of severance pay I'd be hoping for…" She tugs her scarf back up to keep warm, or just to protect her face and relative anonymity as the others filter in.
Scarf on face? Missing lower jaw. Wendigo, or ghoul. Hard to say just yet, he'll need more data.
Large bald man? Obviously an alien. Grey, from the deformities of the elbow. But hard to say which section he belongs too; Need more data.
And, finally, the Johnson himself. Legless? Hardly. Turk knows your secret, man-spider; But he doesn't let the quiet victory show on his features. Not a hard task, considering his beard, which he quietly tugs on as he 'plays the game'. Never let them know how much you know about what they know.
"Sound advice. Too many variables, too much intel to let you retire." He isn't smiling. "Failure to complete the task is unforgivable. How much does peace of mind cost today, Mister Jay?"
Teutonic is your atypical corporate man, he steps in with his exceptionally tailored black suit, removes his sunglasses and takes a single look at the man in the wheelchair. "Revenge and ghost stories are for novels. Who are we killing andWhat's your offer?" Straight to business, at least the PMCs seemed to understand that.
The Man's breath wheezes as people talk and he takes time to speak, it's a laborious process.
"They went rogue, and I would not. They are intending to flee Denver shortly. Mr. Wolf has allowed me one chance to make sure they do not."
He says and thumbs through some thing in his jacket before drawing out -hard- nuyen.
"Fifty Thousand a head. You need to stop them before they leave."
Who are they?
What were they?
When will they be, if they are time travelers?
Too many questions. Each point of data leads to more threads, more strings, more webs. Man-Spider wants heads; Probably for the brains. Or maybe there's a curse to catch the souls of the men as they depart. Or nanites.
Nanites, son.
In the end, it doesn't matter. If he wants to see how far down the rabbit hole goes, he'll have to dive in and see. A brief look at the nuyen, and then back to the 'crippled Mister Jay'. Ha, yeah right.
"How long, and what intel can you offer ahead of time?"

Miyo looks at the other few assembled after the mention of fifty-thousand a head. "Well… I certainly dont think I can turn this one down." She grins beneath her scarf but her overall change in demeanor may indicate excitement. "Hopefully they aren't fifty-kay tough.."
Teutonic nods silently, "How many heads exactly?" He seems to mostly be thinking, "Don't be too quick to accept. It won't be easy."
Teutonic has infact, faced an Ares Military trio before, ask about his ear.
"Three. I have their last known safehouse they went to in the Warrens. Their images are likely already useless. We have ways to change our appearance."
Poly mask? Or does he mean rapid plastic surgery?
Shapeshifters, obviously. Man-spider; Spider spirits riding metahuman flesh. Poor souls. Turk does not let the dark task sway him from the path, of course; There was always only one way things go down with insect spirits. Well, actually, there are several ways, but only one way he WANTS them to go down.
Fifty thousand will go a long way. A glance aside at the Fox Ghoul as she murmurs about tough. "Hard to chew?" He quips, not smiling. Not an ounce. And then nodding at the Jay.
"In. Timeline?"
Miyo shrugs. "Unfortunately, I need money. Besides, a challenge… can hurt, but can be beneficial, as well." She smiles reassuringly, though none would see it. "I'd give it a chance, at least."
Teutonic shrugs, "Well, it seems you have some runners. So last known location?" He stands at this point as it's clear this is a thing that is going to happen.
The man removes a carrier for datachips from the pocket he leafed through. "It is on here." He says and places it down beside the WNG.
The Turk takes his own chip, quietly tucking it into his jacket for now. And he pauses, frowning as he tugs at his beard again. Unconscious tic; Gears grinding. What did he miss?
Ah.
"And afterwards, how do we find you - and collect?"
Teutonic takes the datachip and pushes it into a slot in his head. He's quiet for a moment. "Don't like that. It's just a run down building with a secured door in it. This is going to be a pain in the ass." He sighs again, "This is going to be another underpaid job."
Miyo tips her head slightly. "So, close quarters… that's not always the worst thing in the world." She crosses her arms. "Hopefully everyone can gear up for that."
The Turk glances to the others - the Grey and the FoxGhoul - and shakes his head sharply. You don't do details in front of the Jay. He then looks back to the 'Crippled Man' (Har har) and finally speaks.
"Back to the original problem; When this is done, and your peace of mind secured, Mister Jay… how do we collect?"
The Jay makes a dismissive motion with his hand.
"Mr. Wolf and I will transfer funds to you discreetly. We have ways of knowing when things are finished."
Turk straightens to his full and impressive height. Which is roughly half of anyone else in this room, bloody tree-leg shinlings. He glances behind to the other two, and dips his head towards the door. "Omae - I think we need to talk."
Katral gets a call to action!… unfortunately, he gets the call way late, and mostly as an afterthought apparently. Maybe the J found his name in his contact list at the very end? In any case, he steams over towards where he needs to be via… public transportation. Apparently, someone jacked his scooter.

1 1 2 2 4 4
«Plot» Indrakshi says, "Turk; All three will pile out when you detonate that charge."
«Plot» Katral will mention he is hiding behind some lovely cover
Katral is wearing his snazzy sunglasses, clutching his detonator in one hand and his laser in the other. Perfect mad scientist/mythbuster setup!
he plan seemed fairly straight forward to the Turk; Drop an explosive (pre-prepared) beneath the vehicle, have the so-called 'magicians' sling some spells, and otherwise collect three heads and a bit of bounty. Of course, things are never as easy as all that, are they?
For instance, this was all a trap. Turk was certain of it.
He had no doubt this was no bomb; More than likely a para-parasize that LOOKS like a bomb, designed to suck the machine soul out of the car. Still, he slotted in his demo-chip and did his duty. Second, why would they have HIM running for the car? He considered paying a bunch of gangers to pick a fight nearby and screen his approach; No luck. Smart meat. Dangerous.
So, as he's sneaking up on the car, the only thing left to be curious about is: What sort of nanites are they using, all his erstwhile 'companions'? And to whom do they report? Secrets everywhere.
Bomb dropped. Slide. Set. Tiny legs pumping, no time to think..!
Biggie is going to be set up, under cover (something solid if possible), near by Katral. He's got his security armor, and helmet ready. He recalls Da Vinci from the astral scouting and waits for the fireworks.
The Car Alarm was going off before Turk even reached it..and that thick metal door on the bolthole opening a crack to spray bullets at the little retreating paranoid nut. Then they seem to realize -what- it was because some one is shouting to shut the damn door, which they do. A car exploding scant maters from the saferoom? Yep, no way to -really- risk that going in their favour..
Katral flicks that switch the moment Turk is at a safe-ish range, then presses the shiny, candy-like button!
Turk doesn't look back at the explosion. Well, mostly because he's running full out, cheeks puffing, but mostly because badasses don't watch the explosion.
Teutonic is set up on the other side of the street behind whatever cover he can find and providing eyes and long range support. He's not a heavy hitter, but he can watch the doors and make sure everything looks kosher. He was going to say they're shooting at him, but really that seems moot at this point, instead he ducks down behind the cover because explosion.

The paranoid freak doesn't stop at the explosion. Nor does he stop when bullets begin whining around his tiny legs. For once, the gears in his head quit their rusted squealing; Clarity. Fresh air. Death on the way. He jerks to the side, diving behind a dumpster. A single bullet catches him along his rib, but the energy is spent by the odd deflection and he manages to get to safety. Breathing hard.

The FRT comes out firing, one of them is wielding a Sabre, and the quiet bursts tear apart the concrete where Turk -just- was. The same man forces Katral to hunker down more, giving time for the man with a 5.56mm SAW to burst out firing at Biggie ..as he begins to run along a wall. Well, that's great, they've got Gecko Crawl it seems. Another, who has a back pack strapped on, opens fire on Turk with a Tbolt, even as they level a MGL..and two shots sprang from it. Blanketing the area in thick roiling smoke. Apparently, they intend to -run- away!

If there is one thing that it takes to piss Biggie off is to shoot at him…Biggie begins to focus, and with DaVinci at his side it makes things a lot easier. The mana Biggie channels goes into a Powerbolt. On the physical plane it doesn't look like Biggie is doing much, except for the badguy taking a sudden hit of power and perhaps shattering a bone or two. On the Astral plane however, the spell can be seen coming from Biggie and smashing against the LMG wielding badguy.

Biggie REALLY REALLY hates being shot at, and this is the second time in the last few minutes that he has been. So, he decides to pull off the gloves. Using one of his elementals near him, he begins to channel the elemental into his body, causing it to fade on the Astral plane as it does and into Biggie himself.

Katral swears under his breath, scrunching his face together when he sees the guy just won't fall from heavy pistol fire or even lasers. Though those missed him. So he just switches to his trusty uzi, flicks the safety off and into burst mode, and fires like a madman, eventually managing to punch holes in the damn gecko

Katral flings himself to the side again, right after killing one of his enemies. He is slowly running out of places to dodge!
With the LMG man down, the man with an assault rifle is starting to begin falling back, since his team mate ducked around the corner. So he can get a new mag into the MGL-6. Loaded with HE.
Teutonic has a tool for situations like these, the reboot of the Desert Eagle. A giant gun that shoots shotgun sized shells. When it's clear that it has all gone to hell he pulls it out and unloads two shells right at the guy running along the wall..which apparently amounts to the same as if he had thrown some rocks at him. Teutonic is attempting to o something useful at least as he ducks back down and begins reloading.

Using the elemental's power from within (CHEESE FACTOR) Biggie lights up the area with a flamethrower innate spell that only really happens because of the elemental power. He aims it at the first guy, and lets the fire fly.
There's a bit of a problem; the guy was carrying some serious collection of rounds, and he just got immolated. It's not so much burning to death, as a firework show -right- in the middle of that smoke cloud…but the third one? He's ..running, or waiting in AMbush!

Biggie just ignited a man on fire, who also had a MGL..when the flames begin to burn into his armor, it also triggers myriad micro grenades and he flashes out of existence in a fireball. Which means Biggie takes a face and chest ..well, he takes the brunt of exploding body. Gore covering him, and the man's lower jaw bone trying to impale through Biggie's throat. In the end? Biggie ends up on the ground, looking up at the lovely polluted Denver Sky!
«Plot» Bigman says, "Biggie will spend some time cleaning aura…just incase…."
«Auto-Judge[]» Bigman (#9958) uses 1 of item 1: To Flames - F6 Great Form Fire Elem. from Carried Great Elemental Services (#8870).
The Turk - was completely outclassed in that fight. Completely. The paranoia little halfer feeling at his side, where a fever has already kicked in from the bullets that managed to penetrate his armor. Limping, he moves towards the last ringing explosion to find biggie on the ground. The halfer keeps his grip on his pred-III pea shooter as he tries to get the bigger big up.
He's shouting, but, you know, explosives. Probably just hears ringing.
«Auto-Judge[]» Bigman (#9958) rolls Charisma vs TN 7 for "Resistance":

Biggie, sitting in the blood and cuts, seems to just laugh. Unsure of how he lost track of who and what and found himself on the ground. Then he passes out, completely as the elemental leaves him. Now would be the time to heal…
Teutonic finally perks his head up from below the rubble he has been using for cover at the destruction they had wrought. "Man, we are so lucky this is the warrens." This shit is crazy. There were more explosions in this mission than when they took an MPUV and a combat chopper through a war zone. He blinks a bit and then stands, "Are we all okay?" TEnatively he steps out from cover with his pistol in hand just in case, going to take stock of the others.
Turk frowns as the dragon-hiding-as-a-man passes out. Now.. now would be a perfect tim te to rid the world of another dragon. NOW would be a time to chop off one little piece of the Unified Conspiracy. Turk's hands grip the pistol a bit tighter as he stares down a Bigman - before holstering it at the sound of Teutonic's voice.
"Maybe?" He states, before he takes a knee..
The insane paranoid freak stabilizes Biggie as best he can. Don't worry, Bigman - your brain is safe in his hands. Oh yes. Nothing to worry about at all..
