Grand Theft Hobble

GM: Posh
Players: Gage, Miyo, Muse, Posh, Scurry.
Synopsis: Muse needs a new leg, so Posh gets a tip from her contact Vic Martin on a rival of his that she might be able to steal one from. So Muse decks into that target’s supply operation, creates a fake order, and has that sent. Hiring a special planning operative, the team then execute a quick assault in order to steal the fake item and get Muse out of her wheelchair.

-----> Contact for Posh (#11342) <-----
Contact Name: Vic Martin
Level: 2
Type: cyberware specialist
GM Note: Vic Martin is a professional salesman and field testing analyst for Universal Omnitech. He's almost expected to have a certain amount of 'loss' in his business, as Universal often gets subsidized ware for examination and even implantation training and practice for their massive medical facilities that churn out cyberdocs like Blake's satanic mills. Fixer stats as per +bbread 22/14
GM Note: Vic is a Specialized contact for acquiring Bodyware, adding +2 dice for the appropriate Etiquette tests.
GM Note: Update: Speedware specialized contact. Int 5, Negotiation 5.

"So," says Posh, as she looks around the room, arching an eyebrow. "Well, then. I suppose we're going to have to steal a leg," she says. "And I think I've got an excellent idea on how we can do so," she says. "But we'll need backup to make it happen, and I think we need a combat mage to round out who we can bring to bear on this one. But that'll happen later," she says, thoughtfully. "Anyway. Here's what we need to do: We've got to create a fake order in order for us to get ahold of a brand spanking new betaware cyberleg, all proper done up with Realskinn, for Muse here," she says. "Now, she certainly did right by me, making me look good for Trevor Chang. So I'm going to do right by her," she says. "Now, I've been able to find a good target to make that worthwhile for me: a rival of my friend Vic Martin," she explains. "He's a black market cyberware dealer for Universal Omni, and, well, he'd -really- like to be able to make good on this CrashCart contract," she says, idly brushing a hand along the rim of Muse's wheelchair. "Anyway, Miyo," Posh says. "What you and I are going to do is, we're going to sneak onto the truck, and see if there's a vehicle we can't plant a bypass on, and preinstall a transponder chip onto," she explains. "We'll be able to send a remote command that way, directly to the vehicle systems, via the gridguide. That kind of action takes direct electronics work, and I'd need you with me."

She grins. "So this isn't going to be a mission all the way in. This is going to be a mission just to sabotage a delivery vehicle. You and me, in real time, and we sync up so that she can get a line into the truck right at the right time. We'll need her in the system to help us steer clear of cameras and the like, too," she says, with a grin. "Then you can help out, and guard Muse, or a rigger, when we actually make the nab," she says. "That kind of setup should help us stay ahead of the game, even though something this valuable is likely to have some sort of wrinkle in the defense - drone support, more guys, magic, some of the above," she says, with a grin. "So! How's this sound to everyone?" she asks. "First step. You're going to have to get us onto the CyberTronix lot," she explains to Muse. "How do you think that could be done? I mean, she can cloak up fine, the ears aren't an issue, plus she's got magic. And the whole lot is unlikely to be magically secured, and she can lookout for that stuff anyway."

Miyo stands ready and attentive while listening to Posh brief her on the situation. At first, it seems pretty simple, and maybe stays that way. Get on the truck, plug something in, deal with it later. For the betterment of a friend. That's a good thing. "Sounds like the hardest part to start with will just be getting in without any issues. Like you say, we'll need a plan for that."

Posh nods. "But then again, it's a relatively soft target on its own - the parking lot is probably secure, and we need access, but it's probably an easier sell than getting direct access to the ware itself," she says. "We'll need definite help having cover. I can play with the electronics, so it'll be you covering for me, Miyo." She grins. "You got my back?"

"Maybe we can just climb a wall…?" Miyo suggests with a shrug. "I suppose that depends on how the place is build. And yes, I always have your back." She beams a big smile at Posh and fits her hood into place over her ears.

Muse is standing by in her wheelchair. Looking good, kicking ass, and taking names. She tilts her head a little bit at the explanation. "This is all awfully complicated when you think about putting the boat to water. We're depending on a lot of things going just right." She looks between everyone, taking stock. "To be safe, I should get in the facility and disable defenses with null loops." She mulls it over a little, "I can also watch the operation and open the gates for you guys. Especially if you can get me to their security network. Maybe it has a place we can tap outside." She looks at herself, "Though I'm not really built for off-road use."

Posh nods. "Indeed," she says. "Well, the thing is. I want to sabotage a truck so that you can send commands to it directly. As in, to open its doors, and such. I don't think a gridguide system should do that, but if you are able to route hardwired commands linked to what you can access, we should be able to," she explains. "So, let's say I can do this to a truck," she says. "We need to figure out how to get that on…that truck." A grin.

She then rings up the very best she's worked with, especially for some intelligent white hattery: Shoeshine. "I might need some backup on getting this one together, guys. I've got a goal, and an idea how it might go, but…anyway. Trying to get ahold of something for a friend who -really- needs it. Deets in person. Location will be sent to dead drop address." Hopefully with communications secured as best as possible, she'll be able to get Muse and Miyo in the van, so that Shoeshine can get picked up for an on the go meeting in rather comfortable - and reasonably connected - circumstances.

Shoeshine grabs his bag of 'BYS' gear, and hits the road for the pickup. "I'm relatively familiar with stealing cars, though I don't claim to be the best." He is the modest sort. "I should be able to wire up any connectors into any rational vehicle system."

«Plot» Posh says, "Scene Jump: Posh takes Miyo and Muse with her to meet Scurry and Shoeshine."

Shoeshine 's various little toolkits are indeed in his 'BYS' system. Remote rigger box? He looks up some basic install instructions - it's just like the stuff they use for remote radio control of drones, except this is like a vehicle. Like the dogbrains they put on vehicles, except able to take remote commands.

A rather unobtrusive Aztechnology Luna pulls up, its colorshifting paint and rating 10 transponder chip making it deeply unlikely to have been accosted by police directly on the way there. a side door pulling open to offer an empty bench seat on the opposite. «Here» Posh sends to Scurry and Shoeshine, having made sure they'd enough time to grab a coffee.

"So here's the deal," she says. "And thank both of you for coming. Muse here…well…she got a few of her wires crossed," she says. "And so that means that I'm helping her get back on her feet, literally," she says. "One of my contacts has recently lost a contract to a rival, but he knows that part of the order was for a betaware cyberleg," she explains. "I want to steal it. So far, my present idea is to sneak onto the lot of where it's being delivered, install an override to let external commands be given to the delivery vehicle, and then deck in and edit the order, so that it'll go to an ambushable location," Posh says.

"I was able to get a little intel here, at least based on what's generally available. The lot is pretty well secured, maglock at the front, and the vehicles themselves appear to be secondhand off-market Citymasters," she says. "That means there's going to be real trouble if we're caught with our pants down: crucially, we'll want to be able to remotely disable the turret powers if we don't want to resort to things like Zappers," she says.

Miyo is sitting in the Luna when it pulls up to let the others in. Though she had heard the briefing already, it didn't hurt to hear it again so that she didn't forget anything. Either way, she gives a little wave to Scurry and Shoeshine as they enter the vehicle with them so they can get to the location. "Hello."

Muse offers a smile and a wave. "I know most of you." She's in a wheelchair. So. That's notable. "I'll be your decker this evening. No less effective without my leg. Though, I'm not quite able to run. Or go offroad. Not yet. And no one will put a go fast red motor on my chair." She smirks.

Shoeshine cocks his head to the side and one can just imagine him panting slightly like a dog, after greetings are given. "Maglocks I can do, citymaster doors I can do, installing a remote decking unit on the sly I should be able to do. Cameras? Guards? Spirits? Wards?" He does give Muse a smile, although on his young face he has a bit of a twinge - for someone who sees people get shot all the time, and for someone who's done his share of that shooting, and not to mention punchings and concussions and limb-breaks; he's still able to get a little nauseated at the idea of a crippling, lingering injury. But he does get over himself soon enough, and as the talking goes on will totally forget.

Posh nods at Shoeshine. "I can do those too," she says, thinking a bit. "Indeed, I might have got too fancy," she says. "What if you and me just…managed to sneak on the Shoeshine in advance?" she asks. "Muse initiates the order and then…we're already there," she says. "Any reason they'd find us so easily? Are they likely to do a full once over?" she asks. "I mean, we're thinking about a reasonably important cyberware depot," she says. "We can expect the usual trinity: basic magic, basic trix, basic human security," she says. "And we shouldn't be surprised if there's something fancier, like CSS, spirits, or drones," she says. "That's if we were to try to crack this place proper," she says. "Me, I liked Muse's idea of creating a fake order. So that's really all we've /got/ to stick with," she says. "I don't know why people always go along with my plans anyway, they're usually rather terrible. You seem to be one of the first who's caught on," she says, with a grin. "Anyway, we can expect that the ware will be transported via to my contact's rival's office once the proper request is approved."

Shoeshine chuckles. "The really slick stuff is hard to do. You have to be in hard enough that when they call to confirm, they get the confirmation they want. That's always the hard part. Now, if you're driving it into an ambush, I should be able to crack the citymaster and the drones without undue difficulty. The spirits are a maybe, depending on force and timing and so forth. But the question of the fake ambush is 'where?'? And heck, if you know where this beta leg is going already, we could just hit it along the way with a good enough plan… unless it's being transported AAA to AAA.

Muse catches Shoeshine's look for a moment, and nods. "I can tell it where to go, and tell you what trick. Assuming we want them to really have a papertrail, I'll just put in an order and wait for them to fulfill it, then come back and tell you exactly the truck, when it will leave, and where it'll be."

Shoeshine says "I do know a few medical buildings in the B and C areas of town. C might be suspicious, but there are areas of high-tech even there, like CHROME. And there's plenty of transit areas there. I use a silenced LMG to crack open the Citymaster delivery… a concussion grenade on those inside, or magical sleep or something, and then we worry about other possibles on the grab and escape."

Muse nods, "I like that plan. I could start doing that at any time, too."

Shoeshine says "It'd be nice if we had a driver, like… yourself (he says looking at Posh) to do the carrying-away."

Posh nods. "I'm on board," she says. "Though, honestly, I'd rather supply a Zapper rocket than an LMG. Stolen Lone Star stock is less likely to draw investigative attention than military grade anti-vehicular ammo, if you don't object entirely?" she asks. "I'm quite capable of either deploying the Zapper rocket, or offering a little…shall we say, friendly guidance and designation."

Muse nods, "Sounds like we have a plan. Shall we get started?"

Shoeshine says, "Trust me, I can keep an LMG quiet, and price. Three-shot bursts, honest."

Shoeshine says "We'll still need to open doors fast on a hostile vehicle."

Shoeshine says, "And it is time for me to get ready for bed too. I think we have a plan! You drive the getaway vehicle, I zap the citymaster and open it and help handle people inside, Scurry handles spirits, magic, and the people inside, Muse redirects the vehicle and does cameras, and so forth, and then we escape into the all-concealing shadows cleverly!"

«Plot» Muse says, "You know what I'm going to do. I'm going to find a public location to deck. Soycafe? Premium connection?"

Posh gives a grin to Shoeshine. "I think you are correct," she says, with a little chuckle. "In any case, consider me your private driver, I suppose. We'll see you when we see you, I suppose." And thus she looks around for a premium, and wheelchair-accessible soycafe.

She finds a rather pleasant one, a nice Pentabucks location, and allows Muse off the temporary rear ramp so that she can exit. No kneeling van, sadly.

Posh gives a grin to Shoeshine. "It's rather been a while," she says. "Anyway, I think you'll be glad to hear that I've…been slowly coming around to the business-friendly aspects of your methods," she says. "After all, a medevac is investigated far less than a murder scene," she says, with a grin.

Muse rolls out of the van. So nice to have accessibility, then manages to get in the soybucks, avoid all stares, and buy a throwaway MXP account. She rolls over to a counter, to sip some pentabucks and plug in.

You enter what is clearly the public access host for CyberTronix. This is presented to the user as a high end coffee bar, with data and different baristas all around you, offering various customers high end organized ware. Since this is a trix store that serves the public, well, this -would- be where a legit persona would be interacting with the attendants. You don't seem to be noticed amidst the activity, though.

You are able to see through the data, a gap into the warehouse, a dizzying array of oldschool pneumatic tubes and chutes.

The interface for the warehouse is very simple, and it's just a representation of various pneumatic tubes and chutes, controlling things. Data packets and orders come and go in little canisters, as 'mailroom' attendants move the canisters from chute to chute, where they move along.

It seems that an order is actually rather complex - it requires header information, the context of the order, and a target delivery location. Vic has already provided you with one of the locations on the 'safe list,' the depot for one of his competing black market suppliers.

After logging off, Muse rolls away and back to the van. "Hacks are done." She smiles.

Posh gives you a smile, tilting her head as she sets up the ramp quickly, in an out of sight alley, to let Muse in, at least as out of sight as possible. She gives you a grin as the doors close and she plugs into the van, directing the electric vehicle to silently swoosh away. "So," she says. "How did it go, exactly? Now we've got to get the hit itself together," she says.

«Plot» Posh says, "Posh offers Gage 15k for remote assistance on this job. She then updates him on the situation: the players have arranged for a betaware cyberleg to be shipped to the depot of a rival of Posh's cyberware fixer. The route is from a well defended extraterritorial propety in the DTC, headed to a clinic near the border. That means that it will be passing through both low response, likely high alert level, or also go through fast response areas where they will feel safer. Posh would have updated Gage on available resources, including zapper rockets for a smash and sprint, the Armory, or other ideas. She'd also have mentioned her first idea: simply zap the truck, and hope the maglocks disengage because it's not NBC protected."

«Plot» Posh says, "Gage is now welcome on the Comms."

Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « All right, here's the situation. I think we can pull up on them, but now we've got a proper driver to run it remote. We can go loud and fast, and maybe that's the best we can do, since it'll be on the streets the whole time. We don't have long, either. »

«Plot» Posh says, "All runners are in the van, aside from Gage, who has been contacted remotely. He has a feed into the van, so he can see and hear what's going on, and furthermore can talk out of the van's master unit's speakers, presumably."

Commlink-Scurry> Scurry sends, « I can have an air elemental suffocate them. »

Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « These are the things I never quite can do. That's fantastic if we can stop the vehicle. »

Miyo fiddles around with one of the magazines for her firearm while she sits inside the van with the others. After ensuring her gear is ready to go, she sits patiently.

Commlink-Kit> Miyo sends, « So, we're hitting the vehicle on the road? Thought we were getting at it in a parking lot. »

Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « Nope, it's in a parking lot. About to leave. Muse was able to get the order without us messing with it. »

Commlink-Overkill> Gage sends, « My suggestion is for someone to fire that zapper then leave. I've got a Burning bar available if we have any trouble with the locks after it stops. Then we unload the cargo into one of my air drones and fly it off fast. This allows for mulitple angles. One, rocket fires, that person flees immediately. Two, van is opened up and then cargo and opener is carried off. Three, we have others in the area in case of emergency, but if not, then they walk away whistling dixie. »

Commlink-Kit> Miyo sends, « Well, that's good to know… that way I don't show up expecting something else. »

Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « Very well Gage. Well, this is what I hired you for. We've got the skill and ability to use the Zapper. So. Miyo, Scurry, you two hop out on the street and be waiting," she says. "I'll be with the rocket launcher in the van. Gage will drive me past. When the vehicle is opened, you two levitate the needed cargo right on, from afar, and depart. Nobody will even see you near the target. If security attempts to interdict, you can handle them from cover. I'll be roving about as reinforcements, and ready to pick you up if I'm unobserved.

Is that all correct, Gage? »

Commlink-Kit> Miyo sends, « Works for me. »

Commlink-Overkill> Gage sends, « Who's opening the cargo vehicle? »

Commlink-Overkill> Gage sends, « Should it not come open with the zapper »

Commlink-Kit> Miyo sends, « I can probably get in and get out without too much trouble. »

Commlink-Scurry> Scurry sends, « Ready for the dropoff wherever. Just keep me abreast of the plans here as we hit the ground. »

«Plot» Posh says, "Muse gets the shipment update, from the code that she has installed. It seems that the shipment is departing any minute now - the item is dispatched to the loading drone, and it will depart the depot in less than 2 minutes. Travel time, total, is about 20 minutes, through light, nighttime city traffic."

Gage is able to see that he has options. There appears to be a 'fast getaway' option, where there is an excellent side street that has been not labeled, and thus is invisible to grid guide. This seems to be in the lower security area where the occupants of the vehicle and any escort are likely to be more alert. The other advantageous position is where there's a bit of a gap in the security coverage in the A-Zone. Here, the response time will be just a bit slower - guaranteed to be a minute or longer. Still, it might be worthwhile to avoid attracting attention.

For a shipment of this value, it can be expected that there is likely to be some sort of extra to the security - either a rigger operating the van, a surprise defense drone, or a mage on board. After all, special orders with a cyberlimb worth quite a pretty penny aboard aren't things that they want to have to explain insufficient security to their insurance companies on.

«Plot» Posh says, "Muse: Michael Fontenot is able to put you in touch with a team that will perhaps help out with information dusting and supplying false reports at the scene, for 10k."

Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « Well, you're right. They should disengage and unlock. Likely the target vehicle will be opened by the occupants, right? Or are they going to bunker down? If they do, that's when the air elemental comes into play, yes? »

Gage will spend his time while others are getting into location to prepare what he figures are the primary, secondary and teritary escape routes. He will feed that data to all of the runners along with arial views from a blimp drone he can send over the location. He will have an idea of security response as well. Gage will be using his Airsled to evac the cargo and anyone who wants a 'bumpy' ride (no seats inside, just a cargo container).

Commlink-Overkill> Gage sends, « I'll deliver a burning bar to you if that becomes an issue, if the vehicle is warded, the spirit won't get through. So burn a hole, drop a concussion or gas grenade, and all done. »

Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « Outstanding. Can you send that thing to pick up a few concussion grenades? »

Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « From my stash? »

Commlink-Muse> Muse sends, « I've contacted my fixer friend. He's going to organize a team to clean up after what will, likely, be a really raw and messy operation. »

Commlink-Muse> Muse sends, « That should lower the chance of us getting traced. »

Commlink-Scurry> Scurry sends, « Depends on where we stick it to 'em. »

Commlink-Kit> Miyo sends, « Alright. I'll be ready to go. »

Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « All right. So you'll see the truck when it comes in, and we'll keep its positions updated on your maps. I'll be in the van with Shoe to protect me, and I'll zap the vehicle and peel away. The two of you deal with the security, and I'll be back around to pick you up later. We can direct ourselves with the battletac. I think we're ready - Gage, take us to the drop off point, so we can drop off the foot team, and then, I suppose, bring us on an intercept. «She uploads the route of the vehicle Muse had arranged the phony dispatch for.» »

Gage will link up with the Luna, and go about transporting the people where they need to be. While he does this, his Blimp is above and watching, a LS strato 9 is within two blocks in case and he even deploys a few bumblee drones from his blimp to land on a nearby building in case close up recon is required. As for the speed, its his Airsled which will zip out of another van he controls, fly to pickup the cargo, and fly out quickly.

There's a Pentabucks location for Miyo and Scurry to get a soykaf in, actually, not too far from the point of the route that they were there to assist.

«Plot» Posh says, "Gage is able to see that the traveling vehicle appears to be a Citymaster, escorted by a single MPUV. While the Citymaster is well enclosed, the MPUV has two fellows in it in security armor, one lounging by the pintle mount."

«Plot» Posh says, "Muse has consented to 10k payment to arrange for cleaning services for the operational area. Due to the amount, I am requesting for this to be deducted by the staffer on payout of the log."

Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « Do we still hit the target vehicle? If so, can you draw the escort into a chase of this van, and I can try to shoot tires? »

Scurry pays for a soycaf mocha with unidentifiable corpscrip bills while he waits.

Though the Pentabuks might be tempting on other days, Miyo ignores it for the time being. This is not the time for soycaff and the like. Best to stay prepared.

A barista glances back over the counter at Miyo. "Miss, are you going to buy something?"

Scurry passes by Miyo. He doesn't know her.

Commlink-Muse> Muse sends, « Yeeeeeeees. »

Commlink-Overkill> Gage sends, « Hit the target van. I'll move up a Strato9 and have it put suppressive fire on the secondary vehicle to pin them down. »

Commlink-Muse> Muse sends, « Get in position. I'm going to try something. Give me a minute. »

There's still a little bit of traffic around, and so the relatively nondescript Luna is now within a couple of blocks of the target convoy, and under Gage's remote control.

The barista looks over at Miyo. "Miss? Can I help you?" she asks.

Muse, also in the van with Posh, is easily able to connect to the fixed base dish recently installed in Posh's van as well.

Reaching over for the joypad, Muse sits with her deck on her lap. Music blasts in her headphones as she adjusts the satellite. Motors whirr on the top of the van as it scans over the night sky. Murmuring to herself, Muse sings, "Gold.. On the ceiling." Signal strength gets better and better, taking only a fraction of a minute for her to lock onto one of the satellites orbiting Earth. She locks the tracker, and hits a button on her deck. Her body goes limp in her chair as she tears into the satellite network, ripping holes network after network until she's back in her own little LTG. It was the long way around, but it sure is quiet. With a swipe of her hand, she's scanning over data in the matrix for the nav network.

Muse is able to dance her way into the satellite's network, a fwoooshing dive into the systems of the trix as she is interconnected and presented with an interface moving impossibly fast before not her eyes, but rather her optic nerves, diving her way right into the broader grid before narrowing down and then swyping at light speed through the available data traces until she finds the hints for the GridGuide network, starting with search tags that drain her, moving almost inexorably to the funnel, until she is presented with the well guarded gateway of the Host that directs traffic in and out of the Gridguide system to all the other areas of the trix that connect that data.

Muse starts programming up some false Navguide directions. This next street is 80mph, and the light is green. Turn into the right lane (where the armored car is), delete the car from sensors. As there is no security alert in the immediate area, the accident is recorded and an alert goes out to call the police. Whether or not it brings the attention of the astral scout on duty is anyone's guess.

The convoy screeches to a halt, as does the SuperKombi, still a number of blocks away from Scurry and Miyo. A few moments later, warily, a person hops out of the stopped MPUV out back. The Citymaster remains enclosed. The person who'd stepped out of the passenger seat of the MPUV now talks to a bespectacled man who looks very nervous and apologetic. "I don't know what happened, sir. Honestly, I don't," he says. "We were just about to sing Ninety-Nine Bottles of Pop on the Wall, and…"

Scurry will beat feet to the site of the accident.

Commlink-Muse> Muse sends, « DONE »

The security guard isn't interested. "Look, buddy, I'm just here to do my job," he says. "Give me the insurance deets and I'm sure the companies will be in touch. This'll be a bad memory and a higher rate by morning."

As soon as the 'accident' occurs, Miyo is off and running. Is she a concerned citizen? Law enforcement of some sort? Emergency responder? Or is she something more nefarious! Likely the latter.

"Is everyone OK?" Scurry yells. "I heard that crash from Pentabucks. It sounded awful! Does anyone need medical assistance?"

Gage starts to move his Strato9 into position, a few blocks aside in an alley, ready to pop up and start spraying Gel if necessary against the MPUV. His Airsled is also nearby, resting on the roof of a building and ready to take off at a moments notice.

An adorable young couple out in their first date, holding hands, two cute butch lesbians with short buzz cuts and flannel to keep out the chill, look a little surprsed on their way to Pentabucks as a slim elven man sprints past them. They stop, doing the wide-eyed stare. "What? You think something's going down, Jen?"

Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « Well, is this close enough to the plan, Gage? »

Posh awaits in the van with the Zapper rocket nearby, waiting for Gage to direct that asset to play.

Presently, the Guard looks up, hearing the whapwhap of the rotodrone but assumes it was the police patrol that's supposed to be here anyway, and says nothing, getting all the details out of the man. For insurance purposes.

Commlink-Overkill> Gage sends, « Alright, lets move. I'm going to put the van into position, you zap the roadmaster so it won't leave. I'll pin them down with the strato. Then we bust it open. »

Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « Got it. Put me in position. That'll hopefully disengage the locks. A stopped target is an easy target. »

Commlink-Overkill> Gage sends, « Moving. »

Commlink-Scurry> Scurry will be assensing.

Gage directs his vehicles all together in command chair mode. The van pulls out of the block, the rear facing the roadmaster. The Strato9 starts to rise and move into a long range firing position, minimal chances that they can shoot back, but enough to help pin them down.

Hey, with the van, and the rocket, maybe it'll be Azzie hit squad this time. She elects a Nahuatl phrase to shout out, maybe to seem like some kind of Cartel making your bones job, or something.

Commlink-Scurry> Scurry sends, « Posh, what are you guys up to there in space? I need to know before I make my next move. »

The guy turns to face Scurry, looking surprised. "Whoah there, settle down. Looks like we've got no casualties here. Just swapping details so we can both get out of here," he says.

Commlink-Scurry> Scurry sends, « Oh for the love of god. »

Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « No? »

At this point, Scurry, who's eyes on the scene, can already see that there's only the driver inside the truck. He'd have to swap seats to get over to the automatic shotgun that's placed into the pintle mount.

Meanwhile, outside, Scurry is saying, "… and that is why, as a doctor, I must inspect all parties involved so that subsequent insurance claims are handled promptly without any injury to body, weapon, or… body armor," Scurry trails off.

Miyo eventually arrives, not long after Scurry and begins to looka round a little bit. Blending in with other curious onlookers.

Commlink-Overkill> Gage sends, « In position. Opening bomb bay doors. »

The side door of the van opens as it hums by quietly, at a decent clip, whirring along - its electric propulsion really made it able to just sneak up, without surprise. The heavily armored security troop seems a little surprised, but it's not a big motor pulling up, just a van with a side door opening.

«Auto-Judge[]» Scurry (#1304) rolls Willpower + 6 vs TN 3 for "Resisting S Drain":

The man looks a little confused? But what? There's no reason to be in shock? I have no reason to…" But the idea that he's in shock is overpowering, almost, and he seems a little surprised. "Wait a minute. I mean, my blood pressure. The doc said I had to…." Indeed, of course, Scurry's hit on the one thing that someone fears, immediate physical danger, created, and the man starts to drop, under the effect of a panic attack.

But that's not as direct as the family owner, perhaps a little savvier than he looks. "I…No, I…there's something weird going on here," he says, backing off. After all, people don't usually just drop gibbering after a fender bender.

«Auto-Judge[]» Scurry (#1304) rolls Negotiation (Fast Talk):

It's right at that moment that he's probably going to be terrified, because Posh steps into view, grinning a little too eagerly, with the Lasher perched over her shoulder.

"Paramilitary trooper from the looks of him. I've treated his kind before. They all have severe PTSD," Scurry says immediately to the family man. "Believe me, you want them sitting down calmly."

The man backs off a little, frowning as he looks down - clearly a smart customer, but Scurry was damn convincing. "Well, all right. He got my information.," he says, turning back to his SuperKombi.

Commlink-Kit> Miyo sends, « On it. Should be in and out in no time. »

Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « Remember. THe only thing of much value is the Universal Omni cyberleg. »

Scurry's smile is benign. "Have a wonderful evening sir. To you and your family. Safety first! And if you feel your heart racing, remember: Shock can happen to us all."

Commlink-Scurry> Scurry sends, « With the cargo still in the van, Posh? »

Commlink-Scurry> Scurry sends, « Was that part of your plan? »

Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « Miracles of modern technology. »

Commlink-Scurry> Scurry sends, « You realize I could have just walked in there and taken it, no explosions necessary, right? »

The rocket streaks out towards the van, and it's uncertain whether or not it will strike its target, but it looks to be going true. Right next to Scurry, seeing their buddies fall at his feet, the turret atop the stopped Citymaster whirrs. Uh oh. It looks like things are getting ugly.

Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « And unlocked a maglocked transport how? »

The accurate fire slaps heavily into Posh as she tries to duck back into the van, but the effects of the wound don't seem bad, based on the biomonitor updates she gives from everyone, changing her from a nice blue to a still not so bad green. Seems like she's really played with those feed updates.

«Plot» Posh says, "Miyo: You are running towards the truck that also has a zapper rocket headed towards it. As Miyo casts her wicked spell on the minds of the van, the man turns from the sight of seeing a rocket streak to seeing his wife and three children sprinting out of the superkombit directly at the van, screaming with murder on their minds. The man's line of fire is closed off to Scurry, and he seems to have had enough. He's hopping back into the driver's seat, perhaps a little comically now.

«Plot» Posh says, "Scurry you're up!"

Scurry has an idea. He summons his air elemental, orders it to materialize, and communicates its primary goal: To retrieve the specific leg from the van. Post haste.

Scurry then dives for cover behind the superkombi, because exposure is death.

Scurry is able to dive behind the nearby superkombi, and get some cover, though now Miyo is rather wildly exposed. Posh's van, under the control of Gage, has her out there as well, bleeding a bit from the effect of the turreted machinegun on the Citymaster, which is trained upon her. The MPUV is stopped, with the drive hopping back into the driver's seat to try to reverse back away from the charging of the family of the man who was driving the Superkombi Muse decked into, who's panicking along with the security officer Scurry touched now.

«Auto-Judge[]» Posh (#11342) rolls 5 vs TN 12 for "Zapper Rocket AV soak":
1 2 3 3 11 = 0 Successes

There's a bit of quiet all of a sudden. With the standoff happening now, and Scurry with cover, the two moving pieces are now really Posh in the van and the driver in the MPUV, Posh now out of sight as the van crosses behind a building, leaving the MPUV backing away from the rushing family, Miyo standing out there in the open, and nobody, it seems, emerging at all. It is on this scene that the Strato-9 can be up, but with the disabled turret, and the driver pulling the MPUV back from the charging family, there's nobody that sees the Strato-9 just yet.

Instead, a guard sprints out and takes cover behind the superkombi, checking first and foremost on the downed personnel, and looking around, apparently in panic. He spies Miyo, over there, but she has no weapon out, and he's no mage, The scary mage is on the other side of the kombi. And so, well, yes, now he aims up and cracks off a shotgun blast at the Strato overhead.

The citymaster's days are done for now, as a Zapper rocket smacks into it, leaving it hissing with smoke, and crackling with a touch of electricity all around it. The back hatch opens a bit, the maglock there disengaging, and the turret also stops, disabled.

However, it's way out of range, because apparently he forgot the range of his weapon, like a rather foolish guard, which happens when things get hectic, and the shotgun booms harmelssly into the night. Still, /that'/s more than enough to help ensure that there's already the whirr of a Star roto drone on its way. Gage knows it can't be long.

A second person hops out of the citymaster, this one with an SMG. They seem to be mostly confused by the activities of the family, that are screeching and charging. They seem to think that they must have been in on the attack, somehow, as the guy with the shotgun is now shouting and pointing his gun at the cowering driver. "Come out! We know you're there!" says the guard. "All right," he says. "We both rush him. On geek the mage…Geek…"

The SMG security officer takes it heavily in the body, the heavy burst of gel rounds knocking him down for the count. He's not dying, as a quick astral quest would suggest, but still - mission accomplished as far as taking out that threat.

«Auto-Judge[]» Gage (#7875) rolls Gunnery + Combat Pool: 8 vs TN 9 for "Second target, +4 recoil and +2 second target. 3 rounds. 8D stun.":

The second burst manages to catch the security guard on the leg, and he is seriously getting too old for this. With the MPUV pulling away now, in panic, reversing away from the family, it's child's play for the spirit to pull open the doors and toss the case in the Airsled that shows itself up.

«We could have the van pick up the personnel while the spirit does the work» Posh suggests. "But it's under your direction now, Ops»

So now with one guard gibbering and panick attacking under Scurry's spell, another trying not to get swarmed by the family as he reverses his MPUV away from them, and two taken down brutally, one unconscious, and one in too much pain to go on (S wound: Professional Rating not Elite), there's little to stop that spirit from doing its job.

Commlink-Overkill> Gage sends, « Have the personel get into the airsled. We will met up 10 blocks away at a spot with no cameras. Then, they get in the van, and the airsled continues on a diversionary evasion. »

Commlink-Overkill> Gage sends, « And clean your magic up folks. »

Scurry scrubs his magical stank from the air before boarding andg etting the hell out of this shithole.

The Airsled is something like a flying coffin, or some other slightly aerodynamicly styled flying box. The thrusters are not too noisy, but capible of pushing some serious speed. Unfortunately, this one has no amenties, the cargo compartment opens, and people can lay down in it….but high speed turns and such are going to be….uncomfortable. If you crash, well….best not to consider that. It waits for the arm and whomever wishes to go for a high speed escape, or…you can take your chances on your own.

«Auto-Judge[]» Posh (#11342) rolls 4 for "Active Sensor Test, City, vs Airsled and Van (Van Sig 5)":

«Auto-Judge[]» Scurry (#1304) rolls Sorcery + 6 vs TN 6 for "Scurry Sorcery to cleanse F6 Influence":
1 1 1 1 2 3 3 4 4 5 7 8 11 = 3 Successes

«Plot» Scurry says, "I used dice from elemenal #1705/5"

A rotodrone arrives on the scene and starts to take footage of the area. The departing airsled is within its sensor range, but there's too much interference in the area for it to be spotted. The Luna is picked up, as a single contact, but so are many other vehicles in the area, and with the Luna already long out of the scene, it draws no extra attention.

So at the rendezvous, when Scurry and Miyo can bring the case to the van, there's nothing to stop them from smoothly whirring off into the night on electric power.

Inside the van, Posh smiles, bandaging her leg from where she'd taken a graze from a machine gun burst. "Well," she says. "That was a close run thing, but I think it was well worth it. Thank you indeed.

She signals to comm Gage. "Well. Thanks again, indeed. I'm sure we'll be working together again."

Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « I've put in your payment for your share on this one directly, Gage. I trust that will be acceptable? Proper good job on information support, I must say. »

Commlink-Overkill> Gage sends, « Everything is fine. I'm dissapointed actually, things should have gone smoother. I'll have to analyze the mission and figure how to prevent future issues. Contact me when you have need. »

Posh grins at Scurry. "The item stolen is a cyberleg to replace Muse's damaged one," she says. "I'm sure we can work something out. She's already agreed to owe everyone on this gig, after all," she says, with a chuckle. "I'm just helping cover costs."

Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « Be disappointed all you want, Ops. I'm not. »

Commlink-Posh> Posh sends, « I've found this is nearly as good as it goes. »

Commlink-Overkill> Gage sends, « Always room for improvement, when we get complacient, we die. Goodnight. »
