Ghoul Gland

GM: Mr. Terrific
Players: Tycho, Laz, Simon
Synopsis: Mr. Terrific's talismonger, Troll-With-Pole, needs a perfect pineal gland from a ghoul as an exotic component. So it's time for Mr. Terrific to do a favor for him. He gathers together a gang and gets the deed done, harvesting it perfectly while the (intelligent) ghoul is still alive.
Date: June 2, 2072

The Lead-up - Mr. Terrific meets some wizards playing at dice.

Mr.Terrific says, "There's a reason I don't play these games."

Mr. Terrific says, "When I make wagers I like having some element of control. some feeling like it's my skills or abilities which might come into play."

Simon chuckles, "Control is an illusion, it's a comforting delusion, but our lives are often times no more than a random roll of the dice."

Laz rubs the back of his head, "It's not been my year…" he says, then turns his attention to Vincent, smiling at Mister T's comments.

Mr. Terrific says, "Come now - surely skill plays a roll. Even the luckiest novice will only beat the truly skilled once in the greatest while. And then only because of external circumstances.. environmental effects."

Simon nods "Of course, but that's not gambling is it?"

Laz smiles, "There are many games and they all lie somewhere on the scale of total luck to total strategy—such as this game versus chess."

Simon moves to stand. "I should be going, thank you for the brief entertainment." He looks to Laz and grins, "I'll be in touch." He straightens his suit jacket, then starts for the exit.

Mr.Terrific ah wells. "So much for my hiring the two of you."

Simon pauses in his final garment adjustments. "Hiring?"

Mr. Terrific says, "I don't suppose either of you two have any medical training, or would it just be me?"

Simon shakes his head. "I'm sorry, my medical training is virtually non-existant."

Laz shakes his head, "I can cut things open, big things, that's about it." He winks.

Mr. Terrific says, "Then that would be me. In any case, my talismonger needs the freshly extracted pineal gland of a ghoul in perfect condition. That means extracted while the ghoul is still alive, which will undoubtedly kill it. It should pay ten k to each of us, if you are interested and feel yourselves capable. I don't claim it to be the most in-depth or difficult job, but a job it is."

Laz smiles again, thumbs up. "I need 10 k, for starters…this Simon guy is making me nervous; ghouling a ghoul is probably going to be a picnic compared to what he's got in mind," jokes the elf.

Simon smiles and looks to Laz. "Fear not, I only want the one thing that is considered to be in enourmous supply for your kind. Your time."

Laz laughs, "So be it. Terrific, shall we get our gear and meet back in front? Knowing you, you have it all teed up."

Mr.Terrific smiles wryly. "You are correct, I do. In fact, we can meet at the CAS Warrens gate by CHROME. Unless you know a place to track down a ghoul that I do not?

"That's where I would start, Tee, that's where I would start," says Laz.
Laz then puts his dice in a bag and tosses them at Simon. "Cursed," he says, winking. "See you all there."

Simon looks to Terrific. "Would it be too much to ask if I coudl leave some things at home, perhaps my body?"

Mr. Terrific says, "It would be foolish of you and endanger us more. Yourself more as well, though you could flee quickly."

Simon arches a brow. "Foolish? I'm not entirely sure I understand. Why would my astral form be more dangerous against ghouls?"

You say "More dangerous to you, Simon. Every magical attack becomes physical. Every spell you cast becomes physical."

Simon smiles "Ahh, see, there's the crux. I do not know any spell above hume one. Meaning that physical or astral, my magics are not highly effective. My speed and strength while astral are another story."

Mr. Terrific says, "You also fail to spread the damage amongst the rest of us."

AT THE MEET

Mr.Terrific meets over by CHROME, visible and available.

Laz sports a Mortimer and shades with bungees which he has on his head. "I didn't bring an LMG, should I have?"

Mr. Terrific says, "Hey, up to you. I'm only along for the ride because you guys got no skilz."
Mr. Terrific says, "I'm the johnson, remember."
Mr. Terrific says, "It better already be in the Warrens."

Laz nods, "Tis, shall I go get it?"

Mr. Terrific says, "When we're on the other side, duh."
Mr.Terrific is tempted to give Laz the John-Carter doof on the head that he should get on a minute to minute basis.

Laz laughs. "It's a moot point, I have no gyro."

Simon arrives dressed in his warrens chic. That is, a helmet and a riot shield slung over his back. Yes, that's right, a riot shield! It's legal!!!

Mr.Terrific waves. "In the flesh."

Laz looks at Terrific, then at Simon, then at Terrific. He shakes his head as if to clear it, then shrugs. "Probably not a bad idea…" He rubs the back of his neck, "By the by, aren't ghouls considered citizens or some drek?"

Simon nods "And as you can see, I do so worry about that delicate flesh." He thumps the helmet and shrugs the riot shield on his back. "That is actually somewhat in debate. Some countries accept them, but only the ones that retain a level of intellect."

Mr.Terrific yawns. "I think the intelligent ghouls might be citizens some places, sure." You can get how much he cares from that.
Mr. Terrific says, "All right. So let me lay a few ground rules. I'm the Johnson here, and I'm only here because I have the necessary skill, and because I can keep you all sterile. You guys are gonna have to do all the planning and the fighting. Like, a lawyer should never be his own client.""

"Right. So, what do we know Mister J?" asks Laz, glancing over at Simon. "And Simon, do you have a commlink? Can we all do a freq sync?"

Laz, Simon, and Mr. Terrific are standing around in the CHROME parking lot when Tycho's keen senses detect them doing something that makes it clear they are going on a run - they are syncing up their commlink frequencies. Obviously, Something Is Up with the three of them. (Simon looks left out, and just has to link in his unsecured pocsec.)

Slamming his car door and thinking twice about going into the club, Tycho walks over and greets the small gathering."Hey guys." he starts in with a smooth monotone."What's up?"

Laz offers his fist, "Hey, Cavalry, we're going to get a live one," he says, "Busy?"

Mr.Terrific looks from Laz to Simon and back, inquisitively, seeing what they say.

Simon arches a brow, he had an encounter with Tycho once, but apparently is not going to discuss it. He lets Laz take control of this, finding it easy enough just to listen.

"Ummm well I don't exactly have my gear, just a pistol under the seat. What are we dealing with?" The borg looks around nodding to Mr. T then to Simon."I mean if you guys don't mind a mundie taggin' along."

Laz smiles, "Ghoul. We have to bring a live one to Mister collector," he says, nodding to T.

Mr.Terrific deep breaths. "I need a perfect pineal gland, extracted from a ghoul. At the very least he must still be alive when I perform the extraction. "
Mr.Terrific adds, "It pays ten k."

«Auto-Judge[]» Tycho (#3968) rolls Medicine for "Can you knock out a ghoul":
1 2 4 4 5 5 7
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "The answer is, "Presumably yes, though it might be harder, and who knows what that does to the pineal gland removal?""

"Seems safe enough unless someone has gone equiping ghouls with heavy weapons. If you got a medkit i can do the extraction for you, need a cooler to keep it fresh though." Tycho says scratching the back of his head."Does the CAS still offer a bounty on them?"

Laz shrugs, "Good question, but Mister T, presumably you have /some/ legwork to share on this or are we just going to wander around the Warrens hoping to find a ghoul?"

Mr. Terrific says, "I don't think so. Gone all bleeding heart. In any case, the ghouls I know about live in Tinkertown, underneath the Warzone. If you know any other ghouls than that, say the magic word."

Simon seems impressed by the man's medical knowledge, but remains fairly quiet. "Underground? That seems rather dangerous for us. Enclosed spaces with ghouls would not be wise. Perhaps we simply look for them in abandoned buildings with watchers?"

Tycho says "I ran into some a while back hiding out in the NAN, but they aren't fresh anymore. So that's no help, You got room in your smuggling compartment for my pistol?"

Laz nods, "I like Simon's plan," he says, letting Tycho do the talking.

Mr.Terrific does show the medical kit he brought, with sampling containers suitable for pineal glands, the chemicals to keep them fresh, and the coolant chamber. He has the Talismongery part of the collection kit as well. "All right. We follow your plan. Now, to get across the wall with our gear."

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "So I have human sized, chemsealed secret compartment in my vehicle, TN 12. I will ferry people who have personal equipment on them in large quantities that needs ferrying, along with a few people's illegal guns."
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "And Simon's pistol was with Laz, so we are all safe across the border!"

Mr.Terrific says, "So, your plan is to summon watchers, have them search for ghouls lurking in abandoned buildings, and have us go get them?

Simon nods, "That seems a logical move, the only real wasted effort is time honestly. I'll have them go in clusters of three, that way there is a chance one will escape to report. I hear south central has a ghoul population in the area. Perhaps we could start there."

Laz nods, "I am fairly limited in my ability to summon watchers, but I can contribute some if you think there is safety in numbers for yours?" he asks of Simon.

"I have no idea what a watcher is."Tycho chimes in from the back seat of Mr t's funvee.

«Auto-Judge[]» Simon (#6474) has the Bioware Trauma Damper with the following information:
----> Bioware Item for Simon (#6474) <-----
Item Name: Trauma Damper
Grade: NORMAL
Body Index: 0.4
Installed: Yes

«Plot» Simon says, "I can only summon F2 Watchers. So my TN would be 3 with +1 Bgcount. No drain due to Trauma Damper."

«Auto-Judge[]» Simon (#6474) rolls Conjuring vs TN 3 for "Is there a point?":
1 3 3 3 4 23 = 5 Successes

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Excellent! A group of 4 F2 watchers. They may now each roll against TN 12 to try and detect ghouls and come back. But wait! They are sticking together so they are not actually searching different areas. You only get to roll for one of them, plus 2 dice for having 4 of them (just adding dice logarithmically for more watchers going over the same space - 8 watchers would be +3 dice.)."
«Plot» Simon says, "Why TN 12?"
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Because there is simply no guarantee that there actually are ghouls lurking in abandoned buildings at this hour."
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "It's just a random hope on your part."
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "It's TN 12 plausible."

«Auto-Judge[]» Simon (#6474) rolls 2 (force) + 2 (Lots of them) vs TN 12 for "RAndom chance?":
4 5 5 15 = 1 Success
«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 1 for "Number of ghouls - 1-3=1 lone lurker, 4-5 means 2-4 ghouls, 6+ means lots":

«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 6 vs TN 4 for "Ghouls spotting watcher spirits flying around.":
1 2 4 5 5 5 = 4 Successes

Of the four Watcher spirits that went out, three return, all agitated. "We found one right where you said he'd be! In the abandoned railway station in South Central, hiding in the shadows, waiting for someone to try going down to scavenge!"

Simon nods and smiles. "It seems my gambling has paid off all over tonight. Thank you, now, return and keep an eye on him. Do not get within his reach. If he moves, I want Alpha to come tell me where he is after he stops moving." He waves them back. He looks to the group. "Well, let's visit this old railway station."

Laz grins, "Easy peasy lemon squeezy…" he says, walking, along, various things strapped to his back, "I volunteer to go down if we need someone to get jumped…"

"Sounds like a plan." Tycho says falling in with the group as they exit the car at the Bare Knuckle Gym. "I'll go in with Laz, that way it's a unfair fight."

Laz whispers, "Are they strong?" Who knows why he's whispering.

The group moves towards the abandoned railway station, paying the appropriate tolls. Passing by the Bare Knuckle Gym, in fact, which is where Mr. T leaves his vehicle and makes his parking payment with the Crimson Smoke.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Simon, the ghoul attempts to stealth away from your group."
«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 4 for "ghoul stealth in the darkness! -2 astral, duh, at least part of this is tricking the watchers into claw reach":
1 1 3 11
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Your 3 watchers are looking at a TN 9 to stick with him without getting clawed."

«Auto-Judge[]» Simon (#6474) rolls 2 vs TN 9 for "Eek":

«Auto-Judge[]» Simon (#6474) rolls 2 vs TN 9 for "Eek":
1 3 = 0 Successes
«Plot» Simon says, "And they lose him."

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "And they lose him. Alpha is the only survivor - he zzzips back to you as you are at the abandoned railway entrance, telling you about how the ghoul got the other two with fiendishly clever stratagems!" (Fiendishly clever enough to trick an Intelligence 2 Watcher spirit.)

Simon grunts faintly, and dismisses Alpha. "Well, anyone have any other ideas? I refuse to go into an underground cavern complex for ten grand. It's suicide."

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "On the plus side, you've gotten very close to a ghoul without having to run through the Warzone."

"Underground complex sounds like a hoot," Tycho says before adding,"But can't you just summon some more of those guys and find him again?"

Simon nods "I could, and I could have gone with them if I had a secure place for my body. Alas, no one liked that idea." He rolls his eyes. "I'll summon a larger group, with orders to attack. I assume we are not in a rush here."

Mr.Terrific raises his hand. "Wait. They do astral damage, right?"

Tycho says "Do they?"

"Tycho and I could take turns carrying your body if you wanted to effect that original plan, Simon," offers Laz, who has been listening intently, sniffing the air like a blood hound.

Simon nods "Yes, stun damage. At the most they can disrupt a spirit or make an astral critter pass out. It's no different than a stunbolt."

Mr.Terrific hmmms. "Well, if it'll just make him pass out, sure. Then they can go get us."

Simon begins to summon the spirits, their form is something like a wolf puppy, aww, isn't that cute.

«Plot» Simon says, "Pack."

1 2 5 5 = 0 Successes
«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 4 for "Stealth":
2 2 2 8

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "What is your Int, simon?"
«Auto-Judge[]» Simon (#6474) has the Attribute Intelligence with the value '6'.
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "2 dice, TN 3, standard watcher searching, to determine time. Then it will be 4 dice to beat stealth just like last time, 2 dice for int and +2 dice for multiple searchers."

«Auto-Judge[]» Simon (#6474) rolls 2 vs TN 3 for "Searching the area. Its not a huge area.":
4 10 = 2 Successes
«Auto-Judge[]» Simon (#6474) rolls 4 for "Beating its stealth?":
2 2 3 5

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "The base time is 2 hours, so 2 successes means it takes 1 hour, which means those two watchers that you only got 1 success on wink out right when they think they are in the area. The four that remain say amongst themselves, "The astral trail leads right here… and I don't see any astral trail leaving…" And they don't see anyone to attack.
«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 2 for "The watcher's int":
3 8
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "The group of 4 zzzip back to you and say, "We found where we THINK he is but we couldn't see him!""

Simon nods "Tell me where, then return and watch the area. He may try to leave, keep an eye out for him. Charlie can report to me if you see him."

"Uh… Do you have a map? We flew there, you know, " say the watchers.
«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 2 vs TN 5 for "To be able to give directions.":
2 11 = 1 Success
Actually one of them pipes up with a creditable set of directions - down, left, down, straight on through, hang a right at the big pillar that looks like Shirley Bassey, fly across the broken bridge, you'll be right there.

Simon arches a brow, then sighs. "One second."

«Auto-Judge[]» Simon (#6474) rolls Conjuring vs TN 4 for "Force 2, +2 Bg, Number 5":
1 3 4 4 5 5 = 4 Successes
«Auto-Judge[]» Simon (#6474) rolls Conjuring vs TN 4 for "Force 2, +2 Bg, Number 6":
2 3 3 3 5 5 = 2 Successes

Simon summons two more watchers quickly. "Alright, Echo here will go with the rest of you back to the spot you saw him. Echo will then return and lead me there. The rest of you will watch to make sure the ghoul doesnt get away."

«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 4 for "The ghoul sneaking away while the watchers are up here talking to you all.":
2 3 7 9
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "tn 9 against Stealth, 4 dice. (f2, exponential numbers give you 2 more dice.)"
«Auto-Judge[]» Simon (#6474) rolls 4 vs TN 9 for "Finding the Ghoul!":
4 10 11 16 = 3 Successes
«Plot» Tycho is going to follow those directions to the ghoul.
«Plot» Mr.Terrific cheers Tycho. And the dice.!
«Plot» Laz is going to follow Tycho.

Simon waves to the team. "Alright, let's go, the watcher will find me and lead us the way. Even if I move a little."

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "And now I get to say the words I have been craving for so, so long. Marching order?"

And so the brave adventurers head down into the darkness. (Fortunately, most of them can see just fine.) They are led by a brightly glowing spirit - 'Hey look!' (That's a Zelda joke.) The underground is rubble-strewn, picked-over.. and yet shows signs of life, leavings, offal, trash-heaps, campsites, gnawed bones. Tycho, being invulnerable, goes first, and then Simon. Mr. Terrific doesn't take Simon's offer to walk in fron of him, he gets over by Laz figuring that anything bad will hit Laz first, in the back. But the first danger is at the big pillar that looks like Shirley Bassey….

«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 4 for "The bad guy's 'Demolitions.'":
1 3 5 9
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Tycho, TN 9."
«Auto-Judge[]» Tycho (#3968) rolls Intelligence vs TN 9 for "stuff!":
1 2 3 4 4 = 0 Successes
«Auto-Judge[]» Tycho (#3968) rolls Intelligence vs TN 9 for "stuff! kp1!":
1 4 4 5 5 = 0 Successes

Jing jing! Jing jing! Tycho has just stepped up against some fishing line strung between two cunningly concealed piles of debris, setting off some loud sleigh bells, looks like. Must have been scavenged from a Christmas display.
«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 4 vs TN 8 for "For wandering monsters, alerted to the noise.":
4 5 5 11 = 1 Success

Tycho takes this opportunity to draw his pistol, it seems like the thing to do. Slowing his pace from a walk to a standstill the large ork signals with his free hand for the team to stop.

Laz stops and flicks on the ultrasound feature of his shades, scanning all around.

Simon frowns and shakes his head. "This is absurd." He has his shield on his forearm, ready to protect himself should the need arrise.

«Plot» Laz says, "How high is the ceiling clearance T? And I would like to summon an F3 spriit."
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "The ceiling is 20 foot high. summon away."

In the distance, a rustling is heard. A scraping. It might even be… a pitter-patter.

«Auto-Judge[]» Laz (#1899) rolls Conjuring vs TN 3:
3 3 4 4 5 8 = 6 Successes
«Auto-Judge[]» Laz (#1899) rolls Charisma vs TN 3 for "3L":
1 4 4 5 5 10 = 5 Successes

After briefly pausing, Tycho decides that the damge that's been done has been done and continues down the trail following the small wolf puppy like spirit. Keeping a eye out and a ear out for a possible ambush, The large ork continues on at his walking pace.

«Plot» Laz says, "OK, no drain, 6 services. I would like it to conceal us all please."
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Do you give any orders to your hearth spirit?"
«Plot» Laz says, "I belive that is one service, but takes 4 passes to effect?"
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "That is correct."
«Plot» Laz says, "Thanks, I'm trying to remember all the patient lessons you and Mojo teach :)"
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "The 4 passes it takes to conceal everyone will be done before badness occurs. And when it occurs, well."
«Plot» Simon says, "I'll call my 4 elementals to my side on the astral. Cause conceal doesn't work on the astral, it's pointless vs ghouls."

«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 5 for "Mob stealth, at -4 = this is just to determine how close they get to you.":
1 2 2 3 4

The pitter-patter becomes… scurrying. The scurrying becomes… trampling. And you see them, pouring together , coming up 'behind' you from all directions in a 180 degree arc. Rats. The norway kind, the ones with a 2 foot body and two feet of tail. The ones that carry away cats and babies. You know, that kind. Estimates say that there's somewhere from 100-500 of them. They have some spread, but the closer they get to you the less that will become.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Initiative."
«Auto-Judge[]» Laz (#1899) rolls Initiative with a result of 22.
«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls Initiative with a result of 11.

«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 1 for "+3 RATS":

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Laz 22, T 22 who will hold, Simon 10, Tycho 9, 4 RATS"

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Laz!"
«Plot» Laz says, "I'm going to levitate and get clear of them please."
«Auto-Judge[]» Laz (#1899) rolls Sorcery vs TN 7 for "Air Laz":

«Auto-Judge[]» Laz (#1899) rolls Sorcery vs TN 7 for "Air Laz":
1 2 3 5 8 11 = 2 Successes
«Auto-Judge[]» Laz (#1899) rolls Willpower + 2 vs TN 5 for "5M":
1 1 3 5 5 5 15 17 = 5 Successes

Laz hates rats. It's the only thing that really unsettles him. Really. Cursing in Sperethiel, he rises up above the rat tide, obviously trying to figure out what's next…

«Plot» Mr. Terrific!
Mr.Terrific , for his own self, yipers! He knows he could stunball and take out lots of them, and he may still do exactly that, but there's a heck of a lot of area of them, and that's a lot of stunballs. So he does the obvious - he jumps up and grabs Laz as he's going up, hoping desperately that the elf's spell has enough juice to take the two of them. (He himself weighs about 200 lbs.)
Mr.Terrific ends up hugging Laz's waist and dangling.
«OOC» Laz says, "We should practice our manevouvres like the X men. That'd be call Monkey on Ma Back!" (As well as a callback to the Ambiguously Gay Duo.)

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Simon!"
«Plot» Simon says, "I belive I will levitate as well!"
«Auto-Judge[]» Simon (#6474) rolls Sorcery + Sorcery Pool: 5 vs TN 7 for "Base TN 4, +2 Bgcount, +1 for extra weight or whatever. F1 Levitate, Speed 5 meters! Well, I just need to go up a little.":
1 3 5 5 5 7 7 8 8 11 20 = 6 Successes
«Auto-Judge[]» Simon (#6474) rolls Willpower vs TN 4 for "BAse TN 1, +2 M, +1 Bgcount. Need 2 successes with TD":
1 3 4 4 8 9 = 4 Successes
Simon looks around, then grimaces. He focuses his mind, wrapping his body in mana energy and then raising himself off the ground as he defies gravity.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Tycho! The only one on the ground and probably too heavy to be levitated!"
«OOC» Laz says, "Yea but the rats …need bionic teeth!"
«OOC» Mr.Terrific says, "That's the second level of the comedy. :)"

Tycho's response to the whole goings on boils down to, "well fuck that noise." He begins continuing his way along the path following the wolf pup shaped ghost towards his goal. Either he is gunna get caught by the tide of rats or not, his pistol isn't gunna do a danm thing.

The path forwards leads to the broken bridge, and a thirty-foot leap across it to some rickety-looking 2x4s made out of plastiwood invitingly jutting from the more solid substance at 36 feet. In a scene made right out of Karl Kombatmage, the onrushing horde of RATS crowd and swarm and coalesce behind Tycho, and his superior low-light vision allows him to see their gnashing bitey teeth and clear hunger for what little meat he has on his person. (They'll probably gnaw his clothes and equipment too.)
(Of course, the fliers can just float across ever so slowly, leaving drooling RATS looking upwards at them.)
Should Tycho look down, it's a pretty long fall into a chasm… and it looks wet down there.

«Plot» Simon steps in to levitate Tycho.

«Plot» Simon takes M drain! 2 Boxes Stun after trauma damper

Simon grunts with the effort. Working the mana around the large machine ork is almost as hard as lifting him physically. Finally the ork is airborne, and Simon sighs as a headache rolls through his head. "Alright."

Unaware of the mystical forces conspiring to his rescue Tycho makes a effort to run and jump off that bridge, maybe he can make it! At a dead sprint the ork works his way down the two by four gangway across the 30ft chasm. With a herculean jump Tycho gets insane air, literally just hanging there confused.

Simon hrms "You know, this could be useful, I can simply beat the ghoul to death with the cyborg's body. Probably a bit too slow though." He hovers along, using Tycho as a floating shield now.

Before it gets to fighting, Tycho is thankfully lifted up, up and away, right in the middle of a hell of a leap. Even if they can't hurt him, the swarm of rats could have nibbled his boots off and done a hell of a number on his RealSkinn.. he'd have to walk through the Warrens going home looking like a Terminator robot (which might have been cool). You can almost hear the sigh of the horde of slavering, hungry rats, looking up and up at the floating food with their chattering teeth gnashing. Then… they all fade back, and split up, fading into various nooks and crannies and hideyholes.

Floating along not that much faster than Simon, Laz laughs very quietly, appreciating Simon's joke and the humour of having Mister Terrific dangling off him. He reaches down and grabs T by the forearms, making sure he's safely airborne.

Simon looks around. "This is going to be difficult. I'm not going to be any use now, beyond transport." He hovers along with Tycho. "I don't see any reports of my watchers. Something must be wrong."
«Auto-Judge[]» Simon (#6474) rolls Intelligence for "-5 to the highest roll cause, well I'm useless":
2 4 4 5 5 8

Completely not under his own power Tycho does a sort of frog kick in the air trying to follow the watcher that was directing them before, after all they might as well get where they were heading. Waving his pistol a little frantically the borg finally rolls around in the air and says,"We need to at least get where the ghoul was, even if its fast it's the best starting point for a search."

Here is where.. an incredible smell is. It smells like fermenting, rotten beer. It smells like the worst Vegemite gone rotten. Looking up, you can see some holes.. this must be a place where surface dwellers toss their trash, and it comes down here, and gets in a big pile, and… ferments. In a kind of natural depression in the concretework, too, like maybe there was an explosion and it made a hole.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "TN 9 Perception for Tycho and Laz. Laz of course takes penalties from sustaining a spell so his TN is 11. Simon already tried and failed his astral-based perception check because of his total of -5 penalties."

«Auto-Judge[]» Tycho (#3968) rolls Intelligence vs TN 9 for "woooo":
2 4 5 5 17 = 1 Success
You paged Tycho with 'You can see how the ghoul did it. He hid in the wet trash, underneath the living yeast and bacteria and filth. It was enough to conceal his aura from the watchers. It's just like they have that living bacteria they put in walls to prevent astral people from coming in, but much more low-tech. And when the watchers left, he snuck off down that tunnel there. You can see from the wet trail.'.

Meanwhile, Echo says to Simon, "He was right here!"

Simon sighs. "Alright. Well, now what? Search again?"

Tycho points to a slightly wet trail on the ground leading off into one of the side tunnels."Or we follow the wet streak on the ground that the ghoul left running away covered in garbage," he offers as a alternative.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Are you all going to float down the tunnel, or walk?"
«Plot» Tycho says, "how big is the tunnel?"
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Floating order instead of marching order? The ceiling in there is 10 foot high."

Over the commlink, to Tycho, Laz hissess: Monofilament trap; you flew RIGHT over it, looks rigged to collapse tunnel…fuuuuck. Waist high!"

Tycho continues coating along in the air down the passage, completely not under his own power. Twisting around in the air he waves a bit, hoping Simon can see him in the dark and slow down his descent into oblivion.

Simon has goggles for thermo, low light, and he can see astral when he needs to. "You know, with all these traps, maybe the ghoul didn't go this way? Unless it set them, but still…."

As you exit the trapped tunnel and come out it is clear that you have found at least one of this ghoul's primary living areas. It is an expansive chamber with an arched roof, one main room perhaps fifty feet by fifty feet, but with the remnants of things like chairs and information kiosks and walls with maps that have been blasted, shot, burned. Several piles of chaff are gathered together in makeshift beds, and… there's a live light in the corner, a few books piled on top of a milk crate in that area so he can read, and several other tunnel exits. There's also piles of bones, and.. a medical table. So designed because, from the rotting half-eaten body on it, it's where the ghoul delicately eats around the 'ware in the bodies he takes (or purchases)…. deliciously sucking the marrow and crunching the bones while leaving the less tasty and more lucrative wiring after he licks it clean of all errant blood. (If you've ever bought secondhand cyberware, you better be damn hopeful they sterilized it first.) -more-

As Tycho floats round the corner, he sees nothing untoward - the trail leads here, but the ghoul has ample ways to clean himself here. (As for the ghoul, the ghoul can see Tycho's level of cyberware, and that he's under a spell.) When Simon floats round the corner, he can immediately see two of his remaining watcher spirits - the ones which still have time on them, minus Echo who is with them. They must have followed the ghoul here under their orders! (The ghoul will immediately shoot Simon.)

He skids to a halt a slight distance beyond where the ghoul fell, still in stance arms up. Tycho turns to face the down oppoent ready for round two then drops out of his stance with a shrug.

Simon doesn't touch the ground, he arches a brow at the remark, but the wound is mostly closed. The blood already clotting rapidly. "I'll sterilize it as soon as I get outside where I don't need to maintain all this magic."

Tycho throws the gloves from teh kit on the ground and then flexes his hands a few times."That was fun. I could totally go for some pizza." The full borg says turning to leave as he goes, walking through the piles of garbage and gore."Surgery always makes me hungry."
