Synopsis: A synopsis of what happened here.
Date: DATE HERE, remember to add 60 years to the year to get the timing right :)

Trix mail is distributed to the various fixers and contacts. Word is there is a J by the name of Lovecraft, who is looking for some wrench turners to do some modfication on a car. He'll provide the tools and parts, but further discussion is to be held at the Paradise Lost Loung.

Baron seems puzzled by this, why would a johnson hire runners to modify a car, unless of course those modifications are to make the car explode. Ohh well, he grabs a candybar and sends a signal through his RCdeck to his Bison to head to the meet location. On the way, he dresses in his armor, and also has a cup of ramen noodles, finishing his snacks and arriving at the location he waddles his way out of his RV after setting it to shoot intruders, then makes his way into the PAradise Lost Lounge.

Vixen hmms, Something a little different! Nice. She doesn't take anything for granted however, so besides her usual guns and knives she also grabs a bit of gear, just her duffel bag that she always carries with her and and tosses it into the back of her van. She pulls up the navigation maps and locates the Lounge. Once she arrives at the lounge she does a quick recon of the area and building. Its always good to know the quickest exits and the best place to park. Exiting the vehicle she sets the alarm and heads inside, putting her shades on as she crosses the street. She takes a look around at the lounge trying to locate a likely J.

Rush walks out of an alley in the CAS sector, heading towards the public library. He checks his trix mail on the terminals provided there and gets the info for the meet. Scribbling the info down on a piece of paper he waves goodbye to Martha the lib-bot there. He makes his way to the mass transit station and takes a bus towards the meet. After a long conversation with an ork who thinks he is Abraham Lincoln, the bus ride ends a few blocks away from the meet. Rush steps off the bus and takes a few extra moments to check his tail before heading into the bar.

The entrance to the Lounge has a long line held back by two troll in three piece suits. Their features when one looks at that appear identical. Just beyond the rope is a security scanner. Occassionally a person from the line is admitted, they stop before the booth. (int tn 10)

The next guest to be admitted pauses infront of the scanner. Looking to the left, his eyes flash a molten red color. After that pause he continues without the scanner indicating whether he had what they're scanning for, or was even used.

Baron waddles his way around the line and towards the two troll bouncers, waiting until he is stopped at the door, he grunts in response to any query given, and responds with "Here to see Lovecraft.", after that, he figures he should get in, but, who knows.

Vixen lifts a brow and studies the scanner, attempting to figure out what it is actually scanning. She quirks a brow but remains impassive until its her turn to at the front of the line. She actually doesn't spend a lot of time in lines these days. Mostly she hires people to stand in line for her. She shifts feet and wonders if her guns are going to be confiscated at the door. Once she reaches the head of the line she lowers her glasses a bit and stares at one of the trolls guarding the door and nods towards Baron, "Ditto." Her eyes scan Baron's large frame with a bit more interest now she knows he's here for the same reason she is. She gives the man a nod.

Rush bops his way into the bar, pulls off his headphones and watches the process to get in for a moment. He considers something and then heads over behind Vixen and Baron. His diminuitive form eclipsed by the massive form of Baron. He peers out from behind the large man and waves a hand, "Seems to be a trend, add me to that list to see Lovecraft…" he pulls the hood off his head to reveal his spiked hair and runs a hand through it while he waits.

The troll on the right consults a clip board, with actual paper on it. He looks to the troll on the left. They nod in errie synchrony, then step asside. This ellisates a complaints from the line, but a quick look from them quiets the patrons once more. A human steps through the scanner and says, "This is a place of pleasure and business, please deposit any weapons before entering," he then gestures to the scanner.

Baron waddles his way forward, nodding to the human after a brief glance to the two other people here to meet the Johnson. He reaches under his jacket, and pulls out a dart pistol, handing it over to the human with the scanner, then heading on into the club.

Vixen sighs and reaches to her back and pulls out her beloved Ares and places it in the bin, next comes her Salavette Guardian, and then she bends and pulls out her throwing knives. She shrugs at the looks she gets and say's, "Hey, at least I'm not carrying my missle launcher today." She feels naked without her weapons but grins cause they can't take away her fists or feet. She flexes her fist a bit just to make sure its still attached to her arm.

Rush follows the 'train' through the ropes and stops at the gun check. He unzips his hoodie and pulls a Warhawk from shoulder leather, handing it uunloaded and butt first to the check person. He takes his claim ticket and nods, "Arigato…" He says, turning and quickly trying to catch up with the other two apparently here to meet the same guy he is. He scans the bar quickly, taking in the room as a whole, his eyes glazing for a second as he peers astral, always pays to be cautious.

«Plot» Rush says, " Looking at the room in the astral, just a quick scan for spirits, elementals and magical types please."

You paged Rush with 'Astrally this room appears nothing like the real world version. Spirits of all shape and type are here. Some glow malovently others shine benignly. The full gamut of human emotion, and spiritual emotion is here. The magic, in this place is unimpeded. PS-Y also felt the 'rush' of ambient magic after stepping through the door.'.

Vixen tries to keep a wary eye on the guy who passed so easily through security. She feels uncomfortable with the fact that he seemed to be using magic the moment he passed through the scan. Paranoia is normal these days. And being unarmed when she's at a stranger than usual meet, while she's fairly certain that someone else might possibly be armed to the gills brings up memories best left in dark closets.

The interior is vastly different then the exterior. Three floors are here, the second admissable by stairs the third by a guarded elevator. Spirits of many kinds can be seen carousing here, from sprites to devils. Also there's a large number of people who appear to be meat. The man, who led you through the scanner takes you to the stairs and says over the festive din, "Lovecraft's party is at table thirteen, back left corner."

Baron grunts to the man, then sighs as he looks at the stairs. He begins to trudge his way up them, not really happy with the fact they have a perfectly good elevator here too, or at least an escalalter, why does everyone have to climb stairs. He finally reaches the top, then looks around for the back left corner, waddling that direction and looking for any signs of table thirteen.

Vixen studies the guy at the bar for a moment and tilts her head to the side. "Bizarre." She mutters a moment, Fire elementals she's seen before. Many times, just not in a bar having a drink. She contemplates the problem for a bit and then follows Baron up the stairs holding, a debate raging in her mind. She moves towards the specified table, not relishing the idea of losing sight of the elemental. She actually has a few spirit busters on her, but no way to shoot them now. She sighs under her breath, 'Stupid gun check.'

Rush frowns at something he sees and seems to walk around things that arent there quite often as he heads to the table indicated. He frowns several times as he looks around him, shaking his head at the insanity of it all. He arrives at the table and hops into a chair, pulling his feet up under him and then standing on the table so he can see over it easier.

At the table 'Lovecraft' appears to be an older man, dressed in clothing circa 19th century. He has the air of a prophessor, with shoulder length grey hair a stove pipe hat, a white shirt with a frill of lace at his throat, and a double breasted jacket that has a greenish hue to it, "Thank you for coming."

Baron grunts and nods to the man, after taking his seat. He waits paitently for the information about the job, cause thats what he is here for, creepy magic bars do not interest him, unless they serve exotic foods or something, maybe unicorn steak…that sounds good.

Vixen smirks as the halfer stands on the table and then her eyes move towards Lovecraft, zoning in on the J in a piercing way. "Good evening. You must be Lovecraft." She looks around, "Interesting place for a meet." She shrugs a bit and takes a seat turning her chair just so. She intends to keep a wary eye on the room around her. Magic is one of those things she's particularly vulnerable to, and at the moment she's more vulnerable than she likes to be. Its not that she hates magic or magic users, just in general she has a healthy respect for it. The J screams to her of magic and all those things that she respects enough to not fuck with if at all possible.

Rush leans against the back of the chair he is standing in. He keeps his head moving as he looks around the room, occasionally he waves at the air in front of him. If you have ever seen someone get caught in a spiderweb that no one else can see, thats Rush the past few minutes. After a few instances of this he sighs and lowers himself to a squat, hovering over his boots and watching the J. "Arigato Lovecraft-sama, I appreciate your invitation." He looks around again, definitely disturbed in this place.

Smiling Lovecraft gestures to the menu, "The leprechaun soup is the special this evening, and quite tasty, if you wish refreshment," then languidly he lifts a wineglass with a viscious red fluid in it, "I've procured a vehicle, that will be in a race, however I need some modifications to it, specialized parts, if you will. They're made of particularly rare materials, so require deft hands." He pauses to drink while the group absorbs the information thus far.

Baron nods, listening to the information "Sounds easy enough, I'm fairly handy with tools." he resists the urge to order the soup, and tries not to break down and order something to eat

"Good," Lovecraft says to Baron with an unsettling smile, something about it screams of the asylum.

Rush keeps his squat and listens, his attention firmly on the J now.

Lovecraft reaches into his coat withdrawing a small scrap of something. On it is writing, "You'll find the vehicle at the old Montevello Hotel, outskirts of south Aurora. I need the car's modifications finished in three days time," he slides scrap to Vixen, who in his eyes seems to most disturbed by this place.

Vixen scans the room and then looks down at the paper and nods, "Are you expecting that we might encounter any problems?" She asks once the parameters of the job are specified.

Baron grunts "These mods? What kind of setup do they require? You got a facility or we talking simpler than that?"

Vixen reads the paper.

Lovecraft chuckles darkly at Vixen's coment, "Oh I doubt the locals with bother you, at all," then to Baron, "The plans, arrangements and tools are on site, the guard there will leave once you arrive."

You paged Vixen with 'Private roll int tn 6 or Biotech tn 3. The address is 1313 Hexington, Aurora.'.

Rush turns to look at the paper as its passed to Vixen. He shrugs and waits for Vixen to share the info with the group. "Is there anyone that may wish you not to perform these modifications to your vehicle. In particular that is?"

Vixen quickly passes the 'paper' to Rush with an icky look on her face that she can't quite hide. She wipes her hand on her thigh as if to rid it of germs.

You paged Baron with 'the Montevello burned down about 15 years ago.'.

Rush takes the small piece of paper and looks at it.

Baron pages: Interesting.

Vixen gives Lovecraft another penetrating look, "What will the compensation be for this rush job?"

Baron arches a brow, and grunts "Um, didn't this place burn down, you got a secret lab in the basement or something?"

You paged Vixen with 'The Montevello Hotel burned down about fifteen years ago, word has it some cops did a raid on the pent house where a fire caught.'.

You paged Rush with 'private rol int tn 6, or biotech tn 3'.

Vixen scratches the back of her head and nods to Baron, "Yeah it burned down about fifteen years ago during a police raid."

Lovecraft smiles in that asylum like fashion again, "Of course, but the stucture is still sound enough for work. I even have provided amenities like a generator, clean real food and purified water," sipping his own drink he continues, "I'm willing to offer five kilograms of refined gold, to each of you, to do with as you will.

You paged Rush with 'the 'paper' reads: The address is 1313 Hexington, Aurora. As for the essence of the 'paper' it's been handled by Lovecraft, his 'sig' is all over it, and it has a lingering feeling of formerly being human.'.

You paged Vixen with 'After fence's cut 15-18k =y='.

Rush pages: Ok I now have the astral sig of the J. I can recall it if needed :) Formerly human, ewww. heh :)

Baron grunts at the offer to pay in gold, its heavy, and you have to sell it first, he dislikes dealing in things thats not hard currency, but figures he can find someone to buy the stuff so he says nothing further.

Vixen does the math in her head and shakes her head, "After we fence it, we're looking a sizable cut in pay. Make it 8 kilo's per and you got a deal."

«Plot» Thog says, "Don't roll. ;)"

Rush is looking around, still listening and considering the run and the bar when the price is given. His face snaps back to Lovecraft and his eagerness for the refined gold shows briefly before he is able to conceal it once more. He covers the faux paux by reaching into his bag for a bottle of water. He pulls it out and opens the water and takes a drink. His eyes widen briefly as Vixen raises the amount and he smiles behind his water, then places the bottle on the table and twirls the cap in his hand.

Lovecraft lifts a hand lazily, "Very well, you apparently are worth your money, I'll provide two point five kilograms of radicalled gold, and I'll make it an even five kilograms for early completion."

Vixen nods, "Sounds good." She looks to the others to see if they agree.

Rush nods his acceptance of the deal, reaching to grab his bottle of water from the table again. "I accept your terms Lovecraft-sama." The dwarf takes a long drink from the luke warm liquid and then replaces the cap on the bottle.

Baron nods "Alright, I guess I can sell the stuff." he reaches into a pocket and pulls out a candybar, opening it and taking a bite while he waits for the others to agree.

"Thank you," Lovecraft once more reaches into his jacket this time removing a scroll of some kind, unrolling it he profers the dingy looking paper to Vixen, along with a pen, "Please make your mark."

Vixen lifts a brow and looks down at the scroll, "Tell me you ain't the devil and I ain't sellin my soul." She mutters softly, "My word is usually good enough for most folks." She glances around at the pair and then looks closely at what she is signing.

«Plot» Vixen says, "Also signs with her Vixen James Sin."

Lovecraft looks to Rush with renewed respect, "Call it my paradigm. As for what I'm detecting, merely the completion of my project. This way, I'll be able to deliver your payment, is the fair little one," his voice gaining a predatory edge, almost like he'd like to find out what Dwarf Stew tastes like.

Vixen scratches her nose, something that always itches when she senses even a hint of danger and then stands up, "Well as time is money, so to speak, I think we should get to work quickly." She nods to Lovecraft, "Do you want a call when the job is done? Or as you say, you'll just know?"

You paged Rush with 'While assensing Lovecraft you get a fleeting look at something with multiple tenticles on its face. Five eyes equally spaced on its forehead, just seeing it you can feel your grip on reality being pulled at.'.

Baron climbs out of his seat, still eating the candybar he opened earlier. He seems a little concerned about signing a magical contract, but hasn't really heard of any of that really working, cept in the trids, but, what does he know about magic, except that lots of bullets still kill spirits and mages.

Rush seems at least partially satisfied by the explanation from Lovecraft as to the macabre nature of the contract. It doesnt mean he has to like it however, and he doesnt. He looks from the contract to Lovecraft and nods. "Alright Lovecraft-sama…" Rush takes a pen out of his pocket and makes a simple X on the paper but doesnt touch it himself.

Rush bows slightly at the waist and manages to keep the look of revulsion off his face as he hops down to the floor without another word.

Lovecraft smiles, "Thank you," he collects the parchment, rolling it carefully up. "

Vixen grins at the smart little halfer and then nods to Lovecraft, "We'll try and get your vehicle done before the deadline Mr. Lovecraft. Hopefully the modifications you want aren't beyond our ken." She rather hopes she isn't working on a haunted car too which would really suck. Then the woman backs up and turns heading quickly out of the bar feeling like she -really really- could use a shower and a maybe Janie's magical cleaning spell as well.
She glances at her compatriots if they've followed her out and say's, "Well. That was the strangest meet I've ever had? Any ideas if he was a ghoul, vampire, or just a weird wack job?"

Lovecraft smiles, "Thank you," he collects the parchment, rolling it carefully up. "I shall see you in three days time, then." Standing as he tucks the parchment away. With an extragevant bow he disappears into wisps of smoke.

Baron follows after Vixen and rush, grunting at the comment about the Johnson "Yea, that was bizzare, lets just get this job over with quickly and get paid."

Rush walks out of the bar with his two compadres and shakes his head at Vixen. "You do not want to know.." He doesnt elaborate and drops the subject, changing it to. "Alright shall we go to the addess and get to work? Who can give me a ride?" He grins and looks between the two but his eyes are slightly haunted still.

Vixen nods and say's, "Couldn't agree with ya more." She starts putting her guns and knives back into their sheaths and hidey spots and grins feeling a little better now that she's armed. She nods to the halfer, "I can." She points to her van parked not far away.

Baron grunts "Mines bigger." he grins and points to the Bison RV down the road, and waddles that way to climb in "Meet you there." he says before he walks off.

Rush stops at the gun check and hands the attendant his ticket and takes his pistol back from him. He checks the action but doesnt load it until they get outside. He follows Baron to his vehicle and waits to be admitted to the vehicle. Once inside he will take a seat and buckle his seat belt. "Ill make sure we arent followed." With that the dwarf closes his eyes and appears to fall asleep.

«Plot» Rush says, " I will go astral and ensure we are not followed from the bar. Also I am looking for any sort of astral trail that may be connecting the group to somewhere else."

Vixen calls out to the departing Baron. "Yeah? Well bigger doesn't always mean better." She grins and climbs into her van and follows Baron to the address where presumably she will be closeted for the next three days.

Baron climbs into his RV and lays down in his bed, jacking in and starting up the massive vehicle he heads towards the location. Parking outside the ruined building, he starts sending out drones to secure the area.

You paged Rush with 'There is a tail, a small sprite who looses interest after about a block or so. Hidden, rather well too, is a black string. It links the three of you and trails off into the unknown, though now back to the bar.'.

Vixen drives around the area checking it out before driving right up to the building. She starts looking for security hazards, unusual activity around the building, or anything else that is out of place or doesn't feel right.

You paged Rush with 'The strand taken in hand vibrates with apparent life of its own. As you begin to bend your will to it, the tether is damaged but does break. Then you try another, again you try to rend the magic away from your companion, without success. Finally you apply your know of undoing magic to yourself, managing to damage it once more. Immediately after the damge though you feel a sharp hollow within your being, that wrenches back to your coporeal form.'.

Baron sends out his Blimp drone, to hover above the building at 925 meters height. Then he sends out his Servitor drone to explore inside the building for the target, cause he aint walking in there just yet.

Rush frowns in his chair and starts to growl in a decidely animalistic fashion. His face changes several times between several different breeds of Dog as he does so. He starts to sweat and it appears several times that he is straining at the seat belts with all his might. Every muscle in his small body straining to its limits. After several moments of this repeating itself three distinct times, his eyes flutter open and he growls to himself. "Frag this, we will see Lovecraft-san…" He looks up at Baron's form in the driver's seat and his face becomes more determined. "We will see…"

Baron grunts and shivers, then as he keeps going to the place, he gets up and raids his fridge, he must be hungry or something, he starts cooking a nukeit meal, as he arrives at the building he deploys his drones.

Vixen slams on her brakes, "Mother fucker son of a bitch!" She pulls over to the side of the road and rolls down the window and lights a cigarette. "OK. Whoever you are you better frakkin leave me alone." She grabs her gun and starts loading it with spirit busters. "You don't want to frak with me." She will try and reach baron by hacking his vehicles communication system. Once the gun is loaded she will take a breath and start driving again. Slowly towards the damn building, "I knew there was something fucking wrong with this job. Frakkin freaks wanting cars worked on."

«Plot» Rush says, " I want to do an astral recon of the address before we arrive, inside and out."

Rush closes his eyes once more as they near the address and tries to ensure the building is not a trap. This run has him on edge as it is, might as well add paranoia to the list.

Baron arrives first at the mostly ruined hotel. Charring of the walls and weather have done their best to level the place, which still stands. The front entrance and the parking entrance gape like black maws into the night, which appear totally uninviting. Even the area here has that creepy quality, like nothing lives here or would want to live here, not even sprawl squatters. Vixen and Rush arrive after she's finished repairing her frayed nerves. Of the many things besides this place not being squatted in that one perceptive in security is that as soon as Baron's Bison shows up, a man in sec armor kicks a bike over and heads for town in a big hurry. Also, two or three blocks out it seems nothing lives here.

Baron remains in his Bison, he isnt going into the building. He does send out his Blimp drone to hover above the building for fire support if need be, at an elevation of 925 meters. His invisible servitor drone is sent out of his RV and approaches the building carefully, looking for a safe method of entry to find this car.

Vixen swallows a bit as she takes a look around, "This is creepy. I sure hope I frakkin don't end up in the astral." She pauses at the front entrance of the parking structure and pulls up besides Baron's vehicle, "Whatcha thinkin?" She asks the man. Eyeing the hotel with a look of distaste in her expression.

Baron grunts "I'm sending a drone in, cause I aint stepping foot inside it till I've checked it out."

You paged Rush with 'It doesn't appear to be in the area, or is hiding.'.

In the real world, a small solitary cat that is a grey, white and black tabby strolls out of the parking garage non-chalance in its attitude. It seems to look at the Bison, then turns and walks back into the garage deliberately.

In the Astral: This same cat walks out of the garage, however it has feeling to it that is soothing and not at all creepy. It infact, looks directly at Rush purring with in the astral despite his dog-taint. Then copying the actions of the material, it turns into the garage and disappears from sight.
You paged Rush with 'While astral, let me know if you try to move through something.'.
Vixen grins at Baron and nods, "Smart man." She stares at the building through modified sunglass vision her hand resting on the hilt of her ares ready to shoot a spirit buster into anything goes boo. Spirit busters being what they are, just one would pretty much blow her entire paycheck. So she really doesn't want to shoot it, unless she has to. "By the way, if you got a comm tune into my channel." She gives the tactical channel she usually inhabits by default. She spies the cat as it emerges from the parking garage and keeps an eye on it for a moment.

Commlink-Baron> Baron says, "Alright, I'm sending a drone inside, stay out here till I recon the place"

Commlink-Vixen> Vixen says, "No problemo amigo. Safety first."

Rush speaks quickly from his seat and then goes limp again. "There is a ghost in the building my friend, I am attempting to determine its intentions."

Rush pages: Assencing the cat?

Vixen looks at the building and smirks, "Just one?"

The droid enters the building, having been sent by the large man. Its modified feet crunch on broken glass and leaves before disappearing into the building. The lobby at one time must have been oppullent, as the real wood of the reception desk would attest. Not far from the desc is a set of stairs leading to the second floor. At the end of the lobby opposite of the door, is an elevator unlikely its running.

You paged Rush with 'El Gato, is actually La Gata and seems to be of benign nature. the feeling you get is that it wants to lead your group to something.'.

Baron scans the lower floor with his Drone, then starts heading towards the parking structure, feeling that would be the best location to set up a shop to work on the car.

Rush pages: Ill follow the cat in the astral.

Rush's astral form hovers just outside the building. As he sights the cat he smiles and crouches as if to invite the cat to come to him. As it turns and heads into the building in a decidedly follow me K9 gesture, he laughs to himself and follows the cat into the building.

Vixen waits for the all clear before heading inside the building. The others seem ok with ghosts and strange animals so she doesn't freak out.

You paged Rush with 'Even astrally, the cat seems to 'obey' the normal laws of the mundane, almost like it too is a visitor here. Weaving around and over wrecks of vehicles that haven't been scavenged at all. Though here in the astral the look pristine. Eventually it comes to an old model vehicle that appears to have a steam boiler on it, and looks akin to a Model T Ford.'.

Rush pages: Assense the car

The interior of the parking structure is definitely odd for the area. There are a number of wrecks here, they're old albeit, but they haven't been scavenged, almost like no-one ever thought to look here, or was too chicken-shit to try. Going down two levels, the stealth bot eventually comes to a newer looking car, it seems to have a steam boiler on it and is in the vague shape of a Model T Ford.

Rush pages: Do I need an intelligence test to figure out which vehicle the J wants us to fix up? :)

Commlink-Baron> Baron says, "Ohh good grief….."

Commlink-Vixen> Vixen says, "What? Don't tell me. Its the entrance to hell.""

Commlink-Baron> Baron says, "Come inside the RV, let me show you something"

Baron connects his RCDeck to his trid player, so he has a video to project the images from his drone. He displays the image of the car for anyone who wants to see "Check this out."

You paged Rush with 'The car has been prepped for something, what is anyones guess. However the presense of a crate of parts that have the tell-tale glint of Orichulum are near by as well as 'cleansed' tools.'.

Rush hovers in the astral, looking at the car and the implements there. He moves around the car, looking at all of the angles and trying to find a link.

Rush pages: So the car is the link to the ghost?

Vixen moves from her vehicle to go look at what Baron has to show her. Once the image of the old car (can it really be a car?) is revealed Vixen raises a brow, "You gotta be kidding me?"

«Auto-Judge[]» Thog (#7620) rolls 11 vs TN 6 (to Rush) for "Where did that cat go? Successes=threshold":
1 1 3 3 3 3 4 4 8 9 11 = 3 Successes

You paged Rush with 'Not that you can tell.'.

Rush pages: Spell design to figure out what the heck they are trying to do to this car?

You paged Rush with 'Yeah'.

«Auto-Judge[]» Rush (#8261) rolls Spell Design (to Thog) for "What tha?":
1 1 1 2 3 9

Rush pages: Did the J give us instructions as to what he wanted done to this car? How were we supposed to know what to do?

The droid pans away from the car to a large crate of what look like car parts. Next to it is a tool chest, and a Honda Generator with a fifty-five gal drum that bares the label Ethanol. The promised food and water aren't anywhere in sight.
You paged Rush with 'He didn't give any instructions. However, it's possible that he left instructions, either in the crate or in the tool box.'.

Vixen glances at Baron and sighs, "Well this should be fun."

Baron grunts "Yea, this is the weirdest job I've ever had, I'm not even sure how to do this, but I guess we have to go inside."

Rush pages: Thanks. Did I get anything from the Spell Design roll?

Vixen nods, "Lets wait for the halfer to give the thumbs up before we do." She notes glancing back towards her van. "I want to make sure there aren't any nasty surprises in there."

Long distance to Rush: Thog oops, "yes. From the preliminary work, you'd think it's a recepticle of some kind.

The droid pans away from the car to a large crate of what look like car parts. Next to it is a tool chest, and a Honda Generator with a fifty-five gal drum that bares the label Ethanol. The promised food and water aren't anywhere in sight.(re for baron)

Rush pages: Is it full or empty currently?

You paged Rush with 'Currently empty, and incomplete.'.

Baron grunts and nods "I'll wait for the magic all clear then."

Rush pages: Ok I want to look around more. The link to that spirit has to be here somewhere. What rolls do you need from me?

You paged Rush with 'No rolls at this time.'.

You paged Rush with 'Y'll get another chance.'.

Rush's astral form checks the materials and tools near the car and then looks around the area for the link to the ghost. Unable to find anything he returns to his body and awakens stretching and blinking his eyes.

Vixen chuckles as she looks at the vehicle again, "And I don't care what sort of f'n mods we put on the sucker. It ain't gonna win no races. Unless its the race to see who comes in last." She sighs and moves back to her van and looks at Rush, "Well? Is it safe?"

Baron moves to his fridge and grabs a coke, looking to the others "I got plenty of food if anyone gets hungry."

Rush looks at Vixen and shrugs, "About as safe as any place haunted by a ghost. The form in question appears to be hiding but I have no doubt once we enter it shall make its appearance." He stands in the seat, opens the door and hops out of the vehicle. He walks over to Baron's vehicle and waves Vixen to join them inside. After she does so, he starts to explain "Best I can tell, we are supposed to put the ghost in the machine so to speak." He gestures towards the building, "There are all the impliments to do so in that building and I am assuming instructions from our mysterious J…" He allows his words to sink in before continuing.

Vixen blinks, "Put the…" She laughs, "That's a joke right?"

Baron frowns "So we are building a vehicle so the ghost can leave the hotel right? We just have to get the thing running right?"

Rush looks at Vixen and then to Baron, "Somewhat, we will have to bind the ghost to the vehicle. It is not necessarily a 'nice' thing to do." He seems torn himself as to if he really wants to go through with this run or cut his losses. He looks back up at Vixen, his frown not disappearing.."Its not a joke I assure you. However the only way to be sure is to go in and check things out. Decide now but the ghost most likely will not be friendly."

Baron grunts "If it tries to frag with us, I'll blast it with so much firepower it wont know what hit it. I'm getting paid to do a job, I'm going to do it weather the ghost likes it or not."

Vixen sighs and glances at the pair, "You know…I should have asked a lot more questions." She shrugs, "Lets go." And starts the van to head into the bowels of the garage.

«Plot» ThogLog says, "Sit-Rep: The group has reached the location where the job is to be performed, not without mishap either. Asside from the creepy Lovecraft, all have experienced an unexplicable sensations…"

«Plot» ThogLog says, "…Upon arriving at the hotel, you've encountered a cat; that appears to be the only living thing here beside the group; a car that won't win any races anytime soon; have been confronted with the possiblity that what you're doing is setting the car up to bind a ghost. that's all with in the first fifteen minutes of being there. Now, you've entered the garage to look at your project and to look for instructions on how to complete it."

«Plot» Vixen says, "Is it possible to drive into the garage?"

«Plot» ThogLog says, "Just enough room to pull the vehicles off the road and out of immediate sight."

The garage smells of old vehicles, rust, oil and burned materials. The generator purs contentedly providing power to the klieg lamps that were placed here for lighting. The steam driven Model T sits there looking odd indeed. The primary color is a red dark enough to be called black. Along the hood's trim, the running boards, the raditor's mounting and the window frames is a golden script.
Standing near by is the tool chest, a smaller one sitting atop a larger one. Both are unlocked and an sheet of Lovecraft's parchment lies folded atop the lower chest.

Baron nods to Vixen "Alright, I'm going to setup perimeter security for us, got a blimp in the air watching the place." He starts up the RV and moves it over somewhere its out of direct sight from the road. Then he climbs out of his vehicle, still jacked into his RCdeck, so the drone can feed him information if it spots something. He waddles his way into the garage, and starts looking around for the crazy car.

Rush steps out of the vehicle and walks over to the pile of materials and the parchment. He finds a rag among the implements and picks up the parchment with it, reading the instructions to himself. He occasionally looks from the parchment to the tools as if taking inventory of the items. At seemingly random intervals he looks around the room as if expecting something to manifest its presence at any time.

Vixen nods to Baron and then parks her van not far away. "Just for your information, my van's equipped with some heavy fire power. If we need it." She sighs a bit and just takes a while to stare at the odd vehicle. "Steam driven?" She shakes her head, "I'm a mechanic not a miracle worker." She finally climbs out of the van and moves to look at everything a bit closer. She looks over Rush's shoulder to see what the parchment says. "I have a ghost at my house. He's Amerindian. He blew up my garden once."

The parchment reads: By now you may have deduced that the place is haunted. This is unfortunately necessary. However, what I require of you is simple. Follow the listed instructions, step by step, and install all of the parts provided, in order, to specifications.

<What follows is a list <feel free to improvise here> what needs to be done, to include tool usage and parts for each step. <Extended Success Test 20 successes»
At the bottom of the last page, I will be aware of your completion or failure, do not disappoint me.

Baron looks at Vixen, listens to her comment about her ghost, and just shakes his head "Well, my drone will only leave the garage to recharge, if anything pops up, I'll let the mage deal with it first, and if that dont work, I'll blast it."

Baron waddles his way over to the dwarf with the paper, and starts looking over his shoulder.

«Plot» ThogLog says, "Note, he said nothing about actually binding the ghost."

«Plot» Rush says, "I noticed that"

«Plot» Rush says, "You mentioned extended success test, what do you wish us to roll?"

«Auto-Judge[]» Vixen (#1018) rolls Car B/R for "Any of the instructions make sense as far as fixing cars go?":
1 4 4

«Plot» ThogLog says, "The mechanics choose a primary, the other provides comp successes, and if you wish a tn mod of -1 for rush being the tool boy."

«Auto-Judge[]» Baron (#3002) has the Active Skill Car B/R with the value '4'.

«Auto-Judge[]» Baron (#3002) has the Pool Task with the value '1'.

«Auto-Judge[]» Vixen (#1018) has the Active Skill Car B/R with the value '3'.

«Auto-Judge[]» Vixen (#1018) has the Active Skill Bike B/R with the value '4'.

«OOC» Vixen says, "Basically isn't that good with actual mechanics. Now if the mods were primarily electronic…"

You paged Vixen with 'Yes and no, it's like a mish-mash of engineering and shamanistic ritual materials, stuff that many a mage would pay dearly for. What ever is going on here is definitely expensive.'.

Vixen tries to make sense of the instructions and say's, "You know. I once went on an astral quest using the Silver Lady. That was a free spirit that was housed in a train car." She glances at Rush, "Think that's the purpose of all this?"

Baron grunts as he examines the diagrams and instructions "We can do this, its not hard, just follow directions, I can do that….Give me the paper" he reaches out to take the thing from the dwarf, then starts looking over the parts "Lets get this done fast."

«Plot» ThogLog says, "Feel free to improvise as to parts, think wierd magical contraption."

Rush looks over the list of tasks and frowns, turning the paper sideways as he looks at the diagrams. He obviously has no idea what or how to do the work. He looks at Vixen as she speaks and nods his head. "I do, if not the ghost here then perhaps another spirit at another time." He gestures to the tools and items, "There would be no reason for these tools and items otherwise." He hands to list to Baron and looks around, "Id like to know more about that ghost before we start but I agree with getting it over with. Perhaps start and Ill help tote tools and such as I watch for our currently absent friend."

Vixen rummages through the box of parts and pulls out what looks like a huge metal spring and a funny looking horn with a rubber ball on the end. She squeezes the ball and it gives off a clown car sound. "I'm beginning to think that we are being pranked." She looks around for hidden cameras and squeezes the ball again and chuckles, "Well what's first on the list big guy?" She honks the horn again.

Baron looks at the paper, then the parts, then the paper, and finally the parts again, he points to a large golden tubing that does that spiral thingy for no obvious reason "Let me have that one." he then walks over to the car, grunting as he climbs up into the engine area "Yea, that goes here. I need a clamp and some wrenches."

Vixen gets out the tools requested and carries them over towards Baron. "Too bad we don't have a lift."

«Plot» ThogLog says, "Mechanic rolls, plz. tn 4"

Rush pulls out the consecrated tools and looks them over. He moves to the car and starts setting up almost a surgeons work station. He starts handing wrenches to Vixen until he finally finds the right one. Looking more like a torture implement than a wrench, he hands it to her and starts pulling out more parts as he sights them on the diagram.

Baron attaches the first part fairly easily, then looks over the instructions and grunts "Ok, second part, hand it over, looks like I'll need a torque wrench for this one, too tight and I'll bust something."

Time begins to move along as the team gets down to business of piecing this thing together. Remarkable the first twenty five percent or so goes pretty fast, the assembly being pretty straight forward, so far. At the end of six hours of working, you decide it's time for a break.

Rush keeps his eyes moving around the room, his gaze switching between the astral and the normal as he works. He tries to keep up with the work, unpacking tools in the order he see's them on the parchment so Vixen and Baron can keep working. After a while he pauses to take a drink of water from one of the bottles in his backpack. He wanders to BAron's vehicle and gets two more, returning and handing them to the two other workers.

Vixen isn't afraid to get her hands dirty. She holds parts in place and hands tools over, working side by side with the large man. "What does that do?" She wonders as if the whole thing is a big jig saw puzzle.

Baron grunts as he finishes a piece "Alright, thats it, I need to eat.." his stomach grumbles a bit as he climbs down off the car. "I'm going to go out to the RV and feed myself, feel free to join me." he starts out for his vehicle

«Plot» ThogLog says, "Perception tests, after Vix and Rush pose."

«OOC» Baron says, "Just for the record, my Blimp has suncell power, so it can stay up forever hovering above the place, keeping an eye on sensor checks for anything getting close to the building."

«Plot» ThogLog notes the blimp, "Oooh pretty."

Vixen blinks at the big man and then shakes her head, "I don't know…maybe we can get Montoni's to deliver." She starts tackling rusty bolts and the like with WD-40.

«OOC» Baron says, "Blimp also has ED 1, so it takes 2 10's on a sensor check to spot it. Damn stuffs expensive :)"

Rush sets up shop on the front fender of a car near the target car, his eyes still wandering around the room.

One Successes (tn 4): You hear a bottle rolling down the pavement from above, likely something a rodent knocked loose.

Two Successes: As Vixen climbs the ramp towards the RV she'll see a green colored bottle, empty, of some rot gut come rolling down the ramp as Baron turns from view. 5+ Successes: Baron, you not only hear it, but you see it become 'real' and start rolling away from the RV like some drunk dropped his empty bottle while sleeping off the latest round leaned against the RV, problem, there doesn't appear to be a drunk there.

Baron stops and takes a deep breath, then just grunts and heads toward his RV "Ghost, I'm hungry, and you don't want to keep me from eating." He trudges to his RV, opening the door and stomping inside.

Vixen tilts her head and say's in a whisper, "The ghost at Narnia. He's a drunk too. We call him Hobo Willy." she scratches her forehead, "I know spirit busters won't kill him, just send him away for a bit. But…will shooting him fuck up the job?" She pulls out her gun just to be on the safe side of safe.

Rush sits up and starts to go and look at the car, his eyes traveling along the writing on the car as the bottle makes its appearance. He switches his senses to the astral immediately and looks for the ghost. He walks over to the bottle and stops its roll with his foot, leaving his foot on the bottle as he looks for the ghost. He looks to Vixen, "No we need to find the link that keeps him here, destroy that and he has to leave."

"I dooon' wanna die," the voice etherial and definitely drunk, "got some spare change for another drink, *hiccough*"

«Plot» Rush says, "Can I see the ghost in the astral?"

«Plot» ThogLog says, "Yes, I'll page you a desc."

«Plot» Rush says, "Thanks :)"

Rush pages: Ill be assencing to try and follow the link from the ghost to the item holding him here. Starting with the bottle at my feet. Heh.

Baron trudges into his RV, ignoring the voice and heading for his refridgerator, he pulls out a nukeit meal and pops it in the microwave, then he heads to another cabinet, and pulls out a bottle of whiskey, he steps outside the RV and lays it on the ground "Here." he says, then goes back inside the RV.

Commlink-Vixen> Vixen glances at Rush, "But then…he won't be able to be the ghost in the machine?" keying her comm to keep the ghost from hearing this and becoming vexed.

You paged Rush with 'The ghostly form in the astral is neither benign or malovent in feel like the general area is. He is dirty and in ragged, poorly patched clothing. He seems to have taken no notice of you as he looks forlornly at the bottle of whiskey that is but six inches from his hand.'.

Commlink-Rush> Rush says, "Im not completely convinced that he is supposed to be at this point…"

Commlink-Baron> Baron says, "Just keep him away from us until the job is done and leave him here, do we really need to mess with him?"

Commlink-Vixen> Vixen says, "I'm not really concerned about the ghost. Not unless he gets violent."

You paged Rush with 'Asense to determine what, or how he is tied here.'.

Rush walks back into the RV and settles into a chair in the back. He closes his eyes and moves his sentience onto the astral plane. He moves through the astral back out and approaches the ghost, "Hello…I am called Rush…and you are?" He watches the ghost closely, knowing such creatures can go from benign to angry in a snap.

Rush pages: Yes I am looking for the link or some trail from him to the link.

You paged Rush with 'The ghost looks from the whiskey bottle to you, his eye-sockets are empty, "I'm Berrgan," he replies then looks back the bottle reaching for it, only to have his hand pass through it.'.

Rush pages: Any luck sighting the link or is it the bottle?

«Auto-Judge» Rush (#8261) rolls Intelligence vs TN 4 (to Thog) for "Lookin for tha link! Come on daddy needs a new bottle of whiskey!":
3 3 4 5 5 5 = 4 Successes

Vixen bends to the whiskey bottle, opens it and puts it back where she found it. "Here ya go." She grins a bit almost hoping the ghost will drink and be merry.

You paged Rush with 'Yes, his tether leads from him into the hotel, where you loose sight of it if you stay there.'.

«Auto-Judge[]» ThogLog (#5726) rolls 3 vs TN 5 for "???":
4 5 10 = 2 Successes

Baron pulls his nukeit meal out of the microwave and heads over to the small table, squeezing in so he can eat the meal in piece "Feel free to raid the fridge, I've got alot of snacks and little meals. Or we can order delivery, cause I can still eat after this."

Rush pages: Moving at the speed of thought, Ill follow the trail to the link

After the bottle is opened you hear, "Boooze buudddy," then it is knocked over where it gurgles onto the pavement running down hill. An anguished, "Nooooo!" is heard before the bottle shatter it sand fine fragments.

Rush looks over the bum in front of him. He watches as it tries to touch the bottle and sights a thread coming from the back of the bum and into the hotel. Rush seizes on the opportunity and follows the thread at the speed of thought to attempt to find the link to the ghost.

Vixen winces a bit, "Damn bad luck." Empathetic to the ghost's obvious 'drinking' problem.

You paged Rush with 'Following the link from the flailing drunk, you attempt to follow it directly only to meet the solid wall where the physical and astral wall share space. For whatever reason, the tether can pass through, but you cannot, forcing at the vary least follow its architecture.'.

Rush pages: Ill follow the thread through the maze then :)

Baron grunts and shakes his head, wondering if the ghost will get pissed now or something, but….he does still eat his meal.

The anguished wail fades away, leaving a linger scent of unwashed and decaying bodies in its wake.

You paged Rush with 'asense test plz'.

Rush follows the thread but hits a wall when the astral and reality show a wall. He discovers that he has to follow the doorways and stairs as if he was in the real world. Still moving at the speed of thought, he quickly changes course and attempts to keep the tread in sight as he moves.

«Auto-Judge[]» Rush (#8261) rolls Intelligence vs TN 4 (to ThogLog) for "Keeping the link":
2 3 4 4 4 5 = 4 Successes

You paged Rush with 'Following the thread leads inside to the elevator where another thread joins the first. Knowing there is a ghost here, is the only thing that saves you from being horribly surprised by one that is pissed off. He's dressed in an old armoring style, that looks something like a cross between Starwars bounty hunter and modern day Merc. He steps out of the elevator with something that looks to have an abnormally large bore to it.'.

Vixen plucks through her own provisions and comes up with a iron bar. She pulls off the wrapper and takes a bite keeping a wary eye on Rush's meat form, her gun in its quickdraw holster not far from her hand, just in case.

Rush sights the new ghost and dives into a side room, peering out into the hallway at the ghostly gun toter. Not totally trusting to the fact if the weapon can actually hurt him, he watches the new pissed off ghost, trying to determine intent if nothing else.

Baron keeps eating his nukeit meal, only getting up to grab a coke from the fridge. "Lets get back to work quickly, no sense dragging this out."

You paged Rush with 'The gun toting ghost screams after your diving form, "Stay away, this is my fucking bounty halfer." To emphasize his point he sends a hail of what appears to be double aught buck into the wall of the room you dove into. Plaster and fragments showering your astral form, but no real damage.'.

From within the building next door the sound of a shotgun discharging echoes into the garage.

Vixen nods and say's, "What about him?" She points to the unconscious halfer then shrugs and stuffing the last bite of her iron bar into her mouth she bends and hefts the dimunitive dwarf in over her shoulder and carries him towards the car where she props him up against the tool kit. "Best keep a close eye on him." She shrugs and picks up the diagrams, "According to this we need…." No sooner are the words out of her mouth her gun is in her hand and she glances at Baron, "Frak."

Rush peers out into the hallway and calls out, "Im not here for any bounty..Im just passing through…dont shoot!" Rush steps out into the hallway with his hands up. He starts walking towards the ghostly bounty hunter. "I dont want anytihng to do with your bounty friend…who are you here for? Maybe I can help…."

Baron grunts and closes his eyes, leaping into his drone thats still int he garage and looking around.

You paged Rush with 'Another round blasts from his gauge, "You ain't taking me you fucking ghost," the shot goes wide but still danger close the hot breath of shot whispers past your ear.'.

Vixen holds position and crouches down with her Ares held lightly in her hand, looking ready to use it without hesistation should the need arise. But at the moment she doesn't have a target.

The drone on sentry duty detects nothing, but has recorded a shotgun report. A second echoes into the parking structure soon after the first. Giving a good trianglation of the hotel lobby.

You paged Rush with 'This is a ghost.'.

Rush pages: Ok moving at the speed of thought, Im going to sprint past him, continueing to follow the links and using the walls of the hotel as cover and such from him. Heh.

Baron sprints, and thats fast in that drone, seeing as it can move 40 meters in 3 seconds. The drone zips through the garage and towards the lobby, moving at not quite top speed, but fast enough. He sensors sweep the area, trying to find the source of the report.

Vixen stands duty now over two meat bodies. "Great. Just great." She continues to act as sentry.

Rush crouches his dimuitive form and sprints past the shotgun toting ghost. He keeps his eyes on the thread heading to the ghost links, his mind taking a road map in his head of how to get back here in the real world.

«Auto-Judge[]» Rush (#8261) rolls Intelligence (to ThogLog) for "Int to remember the route he is taking.":
3 4 4 5 5 10

The lobby is empty, however the drone does note new damage to a wall and an adjoining doorway. That looks remarkably like the shot pattern of a shotgun.

Commlink-Vixen> Vixen says, "Guys?"

Baron grumbles «I see shotgun spread on the wall, but sensors arent reading anything» His drone does a quick sweep of the lobby, looking for any signs or sounds in the area to follow.

«Auto-Judge[]» ThogLog (#5726) rolls 4 vs TN 4 (to Rush) for "Damn halfer wants my bouty!":
2 3 3 5 = 1 Success

You paged Rush with 'You can dodge, so to speak. Treat SP as CP for these purposes.'.

«Auto-Judge[]» Rush (#8261) rolls Sorcery Pool: 6 vs TN 4 (to ThogLog) for "Dodging the spiritual shotgun blasts":
2 2 2 4 5 9 = 3 Successes

Again, another shotgun blast rips through the lobby. This time, with the drone in place to witness it, a hazy image that looks like a really toned down muzzle blast can be seen directed at the elevator shaft.

«OOC» Baron says, "Can I shoot at the source of the blast?"

You paged Rush with 'The bounty hunter either didn't hear you or doesn't care, "Die you fucking halfer!" His finger squeezing off another round of shot.'.

«Plot» ThogLog says, "Yes, you can range is short, +blind fire."

From afar, Rush keeps bobbin and weaving. Id really like to not have to banish this bastage but I will if I need to.

«Auto-Judge[]» Baron (#3002) rolls Gunnery + Combat Pool: 7 + 6 (Searching Fire) vs TN 12 for "Base TN 4, -2 SL, +8 Blind Fire, +2 Recoil":
1 1 2 2 2 2 2 3 3 4 4 4 4 5 5 5 7 7 8 9 = 0 Successes

«Plot» ThogLog says, "Pose up lighting up the lobby."

Baron spins his drone, raising the left arm and activating the HVAR mounted there, he throws out a solid line of lead from the high velocity weapon, the distinctive sound of the weapon echoing through the building. The arm moves in a small circlular pattern, spreading the lead as best to make sure the target at least takes a few bullets.

Commlink-Baron> Baron says, "Ghost in the lobby, this ones got a shotgun"

Rush pages: So do these ghosts have chains or are they normal ghosts?

Commlink-Vixen> Vixen says, "I can hear that."

You paged Rush with 'The whiz and whine of machine gun bullets pepper the elevator shaft. The bounty hunter looks back down, then after you, "Brought friends, eh little halfer?" He pours on the speed to keep up, apparently thinking you're out of shotgun range now. (these appear to be normal ghosts, tied to something here, especially since their tethers linked up)'.

You paged Rush with 'Yes, his hvar rounds (mundane) did just affect the astral.'.

Commlink-Vixen> Vixen says, "You need my help? I'm kinda worried about leavin your bodies here for the easy kill."

Rush pages: I hate you. :P Ok gonna try to banish shotgun lad. Conjuring test, whats the TN?

Rush pages: And can I use spell pool?

Out of the inside of the RV, a turret pops down, sporting a rifle barrel. «I can defend myself»

You paged Rush with 'tn is 4'.

You paged Rush with 'It's a conjuring test, exculsive complex action.'.

Commlink-Vixen> Vixen says, "Can you use my van's rigger adaptable turret too?"

Vixen dropped GMC Bulldog.

Rush pages: My magic att is 6

«Auto-Judge[]» ThogLog (#5726) rolls 4 vs TN 6 (to Rush) for "Unmortal combat!":
2 4 7 8 = 2 Successes

Commlink-Baron> Baron says, "I cant find a remote control signal for it"

«Auto-Judge[]» Rush (#8261) rolls Conjuring vs TN 4 (to ThogLog) for "Bring it spirit boy!!":
3 5 5 5 5 9 = 5 Successes

Rush pages: Bitch slapped

You paged Rush with 'On the next floor, you dive for cover. Quickly the bounty hunter lifts his weapon firing that you. The shot going wide…'.

You paged Rush with 'remember everything astral is also a metaphor.'.

Rush pages: Did the banish work?

Rush pages: Yeah heh but I can still wake up fragged.

Baron continues to sweep the lobby with his drones sensors, moving the drone closer to the elevators, where he last saw the shotgun blast eminate.

You paged Rush with 'It hurt the ghost. You'll need one more vs test at least.'.

Commlink-Vixen> Vixen says, "Oh yeah. I haven't installed that part yet. I'm on my way."

Rush pages: Ok Ill pose then again?

You paged Rush with 'Yep.'.

Vixen starts to sprint for the lobby.

«Plot» ThogLog says, "You'll arrive at the lobby in your next pose."

Rush charges past the shotgun toting ghost, the plaster exploding around his dimuitive form as he sprints past. He takes the stairs up two at a time with the ghost in close persuit. Rush hits the next landing and again the shotgun roars behind him, shattering a portrait in the astral off the wall of the hotel. Rush growls and his form almost seems to shift in the astral as he turns on the ghost. The dwarf appears to shift into a large american pitbull and dives off the staircase, taking the ghost full in the throat and starting to forcibly jerk the ghost side to side. The ghost tries to toss the dog off his throat while bringing the shotgun to bear on the astral killing machine.

Another shotgun blast is heard from the vicinity of the stairwell to the second floor. The crooked painting on the wall explodes into a billion pieces as chucks of drywall and plaster rain down the stair well. Almost immediately after that, the familar growling of a viscious dog is heard along with a cry of pain.

Baron grumbles to himself, stupid spirits, stupid mages, stupid car, this whole run is crazy. Yet, he gets sight of nothing to shoot, so his drone just stands there, taking aim in the general direction and waiting for something to manifest so he can take care of it.

«Auto-Judge[]» Rush (#8261) rolls Conjuring vs TN 4 (to ThogLog) for "You want some more?":
1 2 3 3 5 16 = 2 Successes

«Auto-Judge[]» ThogLog (#5726) rolls 4 vs TN 6 (to Rush) for "Come Get Some halfer!":
1 3 3 11 = 1 Success

Vixen manifests at least. She hits the stairs to the lobby taking them two at a time, the last few she leaps up and lands in a theatrical roll and skids across the floor on her side next to the reception desk, gun held before her, prone and with the best cover she can find. She pans the area with her gun and peeks around the desk looking for bad guys and only see's the drone next to the elevator. Hitting the comm she asks, "Where is the frakker?"

Commlink-Baron> Baron says, "No idea, check the stair area"

The pitbull jerks his head from left to right. The astral blood from the ghost flies and with a considerable exertion of power, the pitbull shakes its head one last time.

An audible crack sounds both in the astral and the real as momentarily the pitbull and the corpse of the ghost appear in the real world. The dog locks gaze with the drone, the dog winks once and then disappears back into the astral to continue its battle.

Rush's form slides back from the pitbull into his dwarven form and he starts to sprint up the stairs once more, grabbing the shotgun on his way…hey it worked for the ghost.

You paged Rush with 'At the next level you hear softly from with in a room, "Stop please," the voice is as soothing as rain on a dry desert.'.

Baron frowns, but lowers the gun arm of the drone «Well, I guess thats over.» He turns the drone and starts heading back for the garage.

Vixen rises cautiously and moves towards the stairs. She peeks up them before she actually heads upwards, keeping as much of herself 'in cover' against the wall, her gun held at the ready as she continues to pan for any sign of ghostly gunwielders. She keys the comm, "You know…wouldn't it be great if someone invented a comm unit that allowed the mage to keep in touch with you while he was in the astral. Course there's mindlink, but I hate that kind of communication. People gettin into your head seeing all your deep dark secrets." Vixen chats amicably over the comm. Able to chew gum and hold interesting conversations at the same time is a nice talent to have. Then the battle seems to have been faught and won without her intervention and she quirks a brow.

Commlink-Baron> Baron says, "Well, lets just wait and see what the guy says"

You paged Rush with 'With in the room is a young human woman. She has black hair and is dressed in a blood stained white nightgown, "Hello," she says softly looking at you with a gentle smile. Her very presence seems to solidify this room and her pureness pushing back the darkness like a lantern in the night.'.

Rush pages: Where is the link trail? If its not in the room Im moving on.

You paged Baron with 'Your blimp drone signals a request for a diagnostic. The picture it sends is of a man doing the Ring crawl down the side of the parking structure. However, he doesn't have a heat signature. This in itself seems to cause a conflict of logic.'.

Commlink-Baron> Baron says, "What the hell? More trouble, dont put away that gun."

Baron gives a last command to his Servitor drone to head into the garage, with that command done, he jumps his consiousness into the blimp drone, popping out the turrent and aiming the large sniper rifle at the side of the building "Damn, at this rate, I'm going to be putting holes in everything." then he mentally fires at the target.

«OOC» Baron says, "Any tn mods beside range?"

Vixen hadn't considered that putting away her gun was an option yet. She looks around trying to detect where the trouble seems to be. Keying the comm, "Where's the target?"

You paged Rush with 'The link indeed trails from her and intertwines with the other link you've been following. Again she says, "Please stop," her purity is unrivalled to that you have ever seen in the Shadows, by all rights she shouldn't be here.'.

«OOC» ThogLog says, "None."

«Auto-Judge[]» Baron (#3002) rolls Gunnery + Combat Pool: 7 vs TN 5 for "Base TN 9, cause I keep my blimp out of weapon range, -2 SL, -2 Rangefinder. Boom.":
1 1 2 2 2 3 4 4 4 4 5 5 5 16 = 4 Successes

Rush pages: Ill stop and ask her why all this is going on. She goes bad, I run after the thread. heh.

«Plot» Baron says, "14S damage, if it applies at all"

«Auto-Judge[]» ThogLog (#5726) rolls 14 vs TN 4 for "soaking":
1 2 3 4 4 5 5 5 5 8 9 10 10 10 = 11 Successes

«Plot» ThogLog says, "solid hit but does nothing."

Commlink-Baron> Baron says, "Outside wall, got something climbing, I gave it a good hit and it kept going."

the thing looks hate at the shooting blimp then dives off the wall, turning into whispers of smoke before hitting the ground.

Rush pages: If you want Ill pop back to my body and tell them to get back to work. Or I can keep going and such. Just trying to move things along :)

You paged Rush with 'My brother is why I'm here," replies the woman, "his domain is what your in, his sanctum is on the top floor," she looks uncannily towards the garage, "you have work you must finish before you are able to defeat him, he will not give up his grounds for any other reason."'.

The Blimp, with the advertisement for NERPs across its side tracks the thing until it vanishes in a puff of smoke. The turret retracts into the hidden compartment and Baron mentally jumps into his Servitor drone, scanning the garage for any signs of trouble, and then starting to head outside to find this thing thats climbing the walls.

Rush pages: Right, moving back to my body.

Vixen turns towards the direction Baron indicates and runs in that direction gun still at the ready. "Frakkin ghosts." She mutters.

Rush nods to the woman covered in blood, he frowns and looks up at the top floor and then with a thought he flies back to his body. His eyes flutter for a moment and he says quietly to the link..

Commlink-Rush> Rush says, "You can not do anything to any of it…we must finish the work as quickly as possible. Until we do, none of this will stop and I can only hold it for so long…"

Commlink-Baron> Baron says, "Well alright, you guard us, and we fix this damn car as soon as possible, but I'm still going to shoot this crap when I see it, cause I know enough bullets will kill spirits, a mage told me that."

Commlink-Vixen> Vixen sighs, "If your sure." The woman looks outside before turning around and heading back towards Baron and the unfinished car.

Commlink-Vixen> Vixen says, "I got spirit busters as I said. There expensive as fuck but get the job done. Just gotta see what I'm shootin at though."

Baron gets up, setting himself to just watch the drones remotely, so he can move his body now. He grabs a bunch of candybars from his stash and starts filling up pockets "No more meal breaks…" he sighs, then starts out of the RV, and heads for the garage.

Rush staggers a bit as he stands, noticing he is no longer in the RV. He nods to Baron as he gets back to work. "That will not be an issue…the distractions will continue. However these spirits are ghosts and ghosts linked here…you can not kill them so to speak…they will just come back and considerably angrier.." The dwarf picks up a part that appears to be an oversized paperclip and hands it to Baron without another word.

Its a long night for Vixen. She catnaps a little bit throughout the night. She does take a bit of time to jack in and set her deck to perform a information search, looking for anything related to the hotel and the ghosts identities. She then works closely with Baron helping him piece together the strange project. She yawns a bit and looks around, "Well maybe that's the worst of the ghostly business tonight?" She asks with a tinge of hope in her voice. She puts screws in some copper plating and steps back to take a look at their as yet unfinished work.

Rush picks up a part, looking more like a dental instrument than an automotive part, and hands it to Vixen. "I know next to nothing about mechanical things, do you think this thing will even run?" He peers over her shoulder to where she is working, trying to figure out what and how things are supposed to work in the mystery they call the engine. After a few minutes of handing parts and tools to her so she can keep working, he pauses to take a look around. He sits on the ground and slumps, his sentience sliding into the astral so he can scan the area.

After a few moments he returns to his body and notes that Vixen could have used the extra hands. Getting an idea he walks around the room, every few feet he stops and pauses, doing something around his waist as his back is turned to Vixen. When he moves on you can see the wall where he stopped is now wet and stained. After he does a full circuit of the room he sits down then lies down on his side. He closes his eyes and his face seems to change, shifting between dwarf and what appears to be different versions of German Sheppard. After a while he wakes from his shifting and looks to Vixen, "The garage is now warded, that should buy us a little time…" He smiles and completely ignores the fact that he just walked around the room and urniated on the walls in front of her.

Vixen watches Rush do his 'business' and ewwws, "You got magic pee?" She tries to suppress it, but it bubbles up out of her and she dissolves into a fit of giggles.

Rush looks a little sheepish and tried to explain, "Well..I kinda do things my own way, I hope I didnt offend you." He shakes his head a little and his bangs fall to shroud his eyes and faintly scarlet flesh. He picks up the next part on the list and hands it to Vixen, gathering the next few so he can try to stay a few ahead of her as she works.

You paged Vixen with 'The Montevello Hotel was built in 1976, by an one Willam Hosteed. Opened for business in 1977, Jan 13 (happened to be a friday). Thirteen monthes later, in a hostile take over, by Hilton Enterprise. From there until 2030 it was moderately profittable. In 2030 it was taken over by Yamaha Motor Industries and turned into a middle management retreat, with a side bar of conventions and long term customers. In 2054 one Marcus Beyers checked in with his sister Melody for a long term stay. At this time, the warrens were only just starting to creep up on the hotel's neighborhood. A series of, as to date, unsolved disappearances happened here durring mid-'54 to early '55. After getting a tip off, of black market talismongering happening in the hotel, LS performed a raid that went wrong. June, 6 2055 and 6 pm the raid commenced. They interrupted Marcus durring a ritual that invovled sacrificing his sister according to news papers and police reports. Durring the fiasco a CS canister caught the room on fire, where it spread with unexplicable speed to the rest of the building. Among the known dead at that time were: Marcus Beyers, Melody Beyers, and Lt Lien-Ying Xu (who died trying to rescue Marcus and his sister). there's about five years of time where nothing is found on the Hotel, then there's an old SL query about a bounty hunter known as Strother, last seen near the hote, who was late in delivering one Rain McGee (shadowscene tn 6 for more info). After that no further mention. The search also digs up old blue prints and open LS Investigative files concerning the hotel. Among the evidence listed is a black cat who miraclously survived but escaped before animal control could take it in, a long wicked looking knife with a pommel decoration that looks a head with a mass of tenticles for a mouth and five equally spaced, forward facing eyes.'.

You paged Vixen with 'That takes about 6 hours to find.'.

Baron leans over the edge of the vehicle, ratcheting a part into place, of course, its lucky that the fat man wears coveralls, or you can just imagine the enormous butcrack that would be staring everyone in the face. Thankfully, you are all spared the blindness from that, as the fat man continues to put things together in thier proper order. Pausing every little bit to eat a candybar and drink a coke.

You paged Vixen with 'Rain McGee is a cat burglar of some repute, nation wide. With a penchant for works of art in high security places. She hasn't been seen in near five years.'.

You paged Vixen with 'PS: that knife, even the picture would give one a feeling of the truly alien.'.

Vixen's deck finally alarms that her information search is finally finished. She rushes in and starts to sift through all the data and a few minutes later climbs out of her van with what looks like a data chip in her hand. "Paydirt." She calls to her team mates. "Take a look." She slots the data chip into her pocsec and hands it around for the others to peruse at their liesure. "Not sure if any of it's useful, but it is interesting."

Baron grunts as he looks over the information "Interesting." he remarks, then gets back to work putting this stupid car together, he grumbles a bit as he bangs his hand on a piece of metal, but continues working.

Vixen glances at Rush and say's, "I'd be interested in hearing your theories about the knife and just so you know, Raine McGee was a catburglar who's been missing for about five years." She looks back over the information when she gets her pocsec back, and notes, "Hmmm, interesting."

Vixen glances, up, "Mark of the beast."

Vixen say's, "6/6 at 6. Does anyone else find that…disturbing?"

Baron takes a bite of his candybar and shrugs "Its all crap, that 666 junk, thats some religous mumbo jumbo, why would that count anymore since magic is back."

Vixen shrugs, "Just cause magic is back doesn't mean that certain things don't now hold power or special significance. Our Lovecraft J for instance, might be into all that satanist shit. Or maybe, there's something to it."

Rush looks over the data, when it gets to the knife he frowns and whispers…"Son uv a…" He frowns and hits his fist on his leg as he turns around. "I have seen that 'face' before and you arent gonna like it." He turns and looks at the other runners rather crestfallen.." I think our J is whatever ole Marcus summoned up and ole Marcus is leading this shin dig upstairs in the afterlife."

Rush sighs and shrugs, "Well thats relative, demon, ghoul, free spirit, its all open to intrepretation really. But I would say something came through and well the comparisons are there." He runs a hand through his spiked hair in frustration. "The question is what do we do about it? I can go and see if I can figure out the ghost part but I suppose we should decide if you want to finish the work or not as well."

Baron shakes his head "I don't really care who is paying us, as long as we get paid. I can't see how fixing a car is going to destroy Denver or some such, so whats the big deal? Finish the job, go home, leave the spirits alone."

Vixen grins at Baron, "Well…it's interesting anyway." She chuckles at the big guys single minded determination to get the job done.
Vixen adds, "We agreed to the job. Don't see how we can back out now." She nods and settles in to work again helping Baron put in some gizmo that she doesn't know the name of, not to mention its function.

The dwarf nods and shrugs, "Well the garage is warded, so lets get back to work and get paid yeah?" Rush seems still a little disturbed by the whole thing but doesnt elaborate. "If you dont need me, Ill keep watch and try and keep you two from being disturbed by it."

Baron leans back over into the vehicle, his voice echoing slightly from inside "Yea, you do that." he grunts and then gets back to work assembling the monstrosity that is to be the spirit car.

Vixen is under the car now so she sticks her hand out and gives Rush a thumbs up.

Baron continues to put part after part into the car, occassionaly looking over the instructions to get his bearings, and sometimes even grabbing the wrong part at first, but slowly but surely things appear to be nearing completion, he has gone through most of his candybars by now, having eating one at least every hour or sooner.

«Auto-Judge[]» Rush (#8261) rolls Intelligence vs TN 4 (to Thog) for "Bloodhound Inc!":
1 2 2 3 4 8 = 2 Successes

Vixen grunts a bit as she ends up doing most of the heavy lifting and holding in place. A long smear of grease streaks down her cheek and smudges her nose. Her eyes are bloodshot and she's weary to the bone. "What the frak is this?" She ask curiosly, holding up a strange looking metal disk that feels warm to the touch. "Better not be radioactive." She narrows her eyes looking at more closely and hands it to Baron, somewhat glad to get it out of her hands. "You think this thing will actually go?" She looks dubious at best.

You paged Rush with 'YOu pick up the trail once more. Following the link from the drunk who is still in the garage, into the hotel and up the stairs. The trail again has another link, this one you haven't seen before. It leads deeper into the hotel or you can follow the combined link up the stairs.'.

Rush's visage fades in the astral once more, turning into the classic form of a Kentucky Bloodhound. He lowers his nose to the floor of the hotel and starts to sniff. Following the thread up the stairs again, passing the astral form of the bounty hunter where it lay on the landing, he continues up the stairs towards the room with the girl.

Baron shrugs, taking the disk and sliding it in place, then looking for the proper tool to attach it "Well, does it matter, as long as the J is happy, we get paid. Thats really the task here, make the J happy."

The garage is quiet save fore the grunting of work upon the engine. As you get closer completion the parts become more intricate and delicate. The scripting, if you care to notice takes on a shine of its own, and a hum that sets any fillings in your mouth on edge.

Rush the bloodhound takes note of a new strand in the threads of connection to the ghostly oddness of this place. Turning his nose, he starts towards the new thread, his determination to figure this puzzle out fueling his desire to find the sources of all the threads.

Vixen grunts, "And as long as we are alive at the end as well. What the frak does a spirit know about honor anyway? Stupid to work for the devil." She shrugs and picks up the drill and starts drilling the plate in place with itsy bitsy tiny screws made of silver.
Vixen pauses in her work, "What if…what if this machine sucks our souls into it? Maybe its not meant to suck the soul of the dead but the living?" She pauses in her work. "That's a cheery thought."

You paged Rush with 'This thread winds down the hall and up a set of service stairs to the fourth floor, one below the penthouse. The hall is occupied by a Lone Star Lt. She keys up her mike, "What? Who the hell authorized the use of burners?" with this she starts moving towards the stairs you just came up.'.

Baron sighs and then shrugs "Then we die." he remarks calmly, and goes to grab another part, looking over the instructions "The shadows will kill us all someday, if your overly paranoid about everything, you'll never take any jobs." He makes his way back to the vehicle, looking over the new part he picked up.

Vixen shakes her head, "Well have you ever had a demon for a J before? Most of the J's I work with happen to care about their reps. This J…I don't think he gives a damn. Cause well he's damned anyway."

Rush takes note of the Lone Star officer ghost and turns to move up the stairs. He flies at the speed of thought, his paws hardly hitting the stairs in his haste. He can feel the car coming to a finishing point and something else as well. Haste is his main priority now, the lady said her brother was upstairs at the top, he is moving like vanilla ice in the 80s, straight to the top.

Baron nods "Well, perhaps you have a point there, but, what do we do now? Just give up and go home? Personally, I'm finishing the car, I don't think its going to kill me, but, hell, I could be wrong." he starts to put the part he picked up where it belongs, threading a nut to hold it in place.

You paged Rush with 'Upon reaching the top you see the LS officer disappear. The doors to the penthouse ajar. From within the smell of an odd incense hangs in the air. A low murmur of voices can be heard as well.'.

Vixen bites her lip, "Well…maybe we can finish the car and make sure that it doesn't suck us into it at the same time." Vixen rarely takes on a job and without finishing it. But she's a cautious women with the survival instincts of a cockroach.

Baron grunts "Easily done….we finish with the drone. Last part, I put together with the drone, that way, we aint near the car when it starts up." He goes to finish putting the part together, checking that it fits properly.

Rush pages: I want to get in there and stop the ritual before the LS people can blow it up. My thought is tentacle face wants history to repeat itself in the ghost realm. If I can stop that from happening and we still finish the car, we fullfill the contract and keep 'badstuff' from happening. OR at least thats my thinking. So..what rolls do you need from me to do that? :)

Vixen ticks off some major thoughs, "First of all this Lovecraft guy…well he has our material link. Right? And I think he tapped into it somehow while we were on our way here. What if that link or whatever it is, gets severed?"
Vixen adds, "And I like the idea of the drone finishing the last bit."

You paged Rush with 'Not a bad theory. Gimme a pose first.'.

Rush the bloodhound pauses outside the doorway and considers. His form blurs again to the dwarf and he settles on his haunches in a squat. He looks down at the threads and how they intertwine, considering the situation and the web pattern. Coming to what he hopes is a resolution he decides on a course of action and stands from his crouch, ready to do just that.

You paged Rush with 'However, this has already happened. The lesser ghosts ehre, are merely repeating the last moments of life.'.

Rush pages: Right but the J said the hotel had to be haunted. If I take that away but we still finish the car, we complete our contract but his ritual doesnt go. Yes?

You paged Rush with 'From within the penthouse you hear a silken voice, "Are you going to come in, my intriguing friend?"'.

Long distance to Rush: Thog smiles, "Now you have the jist of it."

Rush smiles and enters the penthouse, his eyes traveling over the area taking it all in. He responds to the silken voiced devil on the inside. "I was just waiting to be invited…"

Baron shrugs "I have no idea how to deal with material links, so if our mage cant save us, we are screwed anyway." he continues to work on the mystery car, putting parts in place as best he can.

Vixen pages: What is the estimated time and date of completion for the car?

You paged Rush with 'You're most welcome here," the being dressed to the nines in fifteen year old chic suit, he pauses sniffing, "I see you've met my sister," he chuckles, "and my patron," he reaches down picking up a thread that leads from a parchment that looks vaguely familiar.'.

«Time» The current IC time is: Thu Jun 24 20:53:24 2070

Rush pages: The parchment we signed?

You paged Vixen with 'June 25, about midnight.'.

The silver haired runner glances at the large man for a moment, "I haven't survived this long by putting my complete fate in the hands of another. Even if that person is a really good mage. Gotta have a backup plan." She grins, "And a hell of a lot of firepower." She hmmms, "Material links. What the frak was it Janie was telling me about those things?"

Rush walks in and pauses at the door, watching the ghostly visage. He leans against the door for a moment and then walks up to look at the parchment on the table. The parchment looks familiar and Rush doesnt like it. He gestures towards the parchment and then looks at the ghost. "So what now?" Rush looks around the room for anything that appears to be a material link, the threads all come here, it should be here.

Baron nods "Alright, so we just keep working, and hold off on putting the last part together until we know we are safe, sound like a plan?" He moves to look over the instructions again.

Rush pages: Need an assense to see it or is it the parchment? I know you said there were threads going there.

You paged Rush with 'The threads lead to the puppet master here, "Looking for this," he taunts and gives a tug on the thread he's holding.'.

You paged Baron with 'While you are working, you feel a sharp tug from within your chest, the pain is short lived but is akin to a heart attack.'.

Baron drops the current part he is holding and winces slightly, he coughs a few times and hits on his chest, he staggers a bit and grabs onto the vehicle to steady himself, his eyes close and he takes a few deep breaths.

Rush pages: The reason Im focusing on the link so much, if I can find it and get it, its -2 to my TN to banish asshole. Heh.

You paged Rush with 'Severing the line that leads to him, would free the other ghosts, at least that's the theory your char would know. Given, their tied to him, he's what you would know to be a spectre. He's a whole order of magnitude different then what you've encountered so far.'.

Vixen nods, "Yeah and we could always wait until midnight and one second." a thoughtful frown on her face, "Material links degrade over time. And what Lovecraft got can't possibly be more than dead skin cells, just enough to be used in a ritual, but if enough time goes by the sample will be less viable I think." She nods, "My mage friend Janie told me a lot about them cause I was hoping to help a friend of mine using a material link and got some of his hair." She nods, "After a few days though it became useless." She breaks off the rest of her thought though and gets a concerned look when she notices Baron's physical problems, "Whoa. You ok?" She slides out from under the car and checks him out.

«Auto-Judge[]» Vixen (#1018) rolls Biotech:

Baron shakes his head after a moment "I'm….better now….I couldn't breath for a second, chest got real tight" he finds himself a place to sit, and pulls out a candybar, opening it and taking a bite.

You paged Vixen with 'Nothing appears to be out of the ordinary, except his pain.'.

Vixen studies Baron and asks, "You aren't like…possessed are you? I felt kinda strange when we were driving here. Like someone was trying to take my soul from my body. A weird sensation in my gut."

Baron grunts "If I was possessed, would I say yes? It felt like a heart attack, or well, as close to one of those as I can imagine, I've never had a heart attack to compare. I guess it could be a magic attack, I dont know anything about magic." he takes a few deep breaths and then stands up "Alright, back to work, lets get this drek done."

Rush looks down at the thread the spectre is holding. He frowns, still not liking this whole situation and wondering why the creature is smiling. He knows time is a factor as the two downstairs are still working. Then that moment happens. The gates open in Rush's head, light dawns in the morning and he smiles widely. He looks at the spectre and raises a hand, "You know what? I think I left the stove on, if you'll excuse me…." He points over the spectres head, "Is that a fraggin dragon?" His eyes go wide for a second and then at the speed of thought he flees the room, heading down the stairwells to the room where he saw the sister.

A spine tingling laughter is heard through out the complex, "Well played my diminutive friend, please finish your task and reap your rewards," the disembodied voice echoes into silence.

Vixen eyes the candybar, "You know that candybars aren't the healthiest choice right?" She gives Baron another concerned look and then sighs and turns back to the vehicle, then hears that laughter and gets a shiver down her spine. "Please tell me you heard that."
Rush pages: Oh are there any threads I haven seen btw? What about the guy thats missing? Any sign of him as well?

Baron grunts "I heard it, and I'm trying to ignore it." he waddles back over to the car, and starts to get back to work. "I've got some C4 out in my RV, what say we rig this thing to blow as an insurance policy?"

Vixen grins, "ohhh explosives are sexy."

You paged Rush with 'The Drunk, the bounty hunter, the officer, and the sister. Are all that you've encountered, you've been over enough of this hotel to feel confident that is all that are here.'.

Rush pages: Wait a second, Baron saw something climbing up the outside, anything to that or am I just chasing my tail? heh.

You paged Rush with 'Well, then you have mister spectre, you think it beyond his ability to do some scare tactics?'.

Baron grunts "Keep working." he turns and heads out to his RV, grabing about four kilograms of C4 and a couple of remote detonaters to plant on the vehicle.

Vixen looks at the diagram and notes, "This part is gonna be tricky. How the frak are we supposed to put a square peg in a round hole?"

Rush pages: Damn it thog..heh

Rush pages: Alright, the thread is here, lets go for the snap, then Ill try to deal with the specter.

You paged Rush with 'Alright. Trying to destroy the link to the other ghosts, right?'.

Rush pages: Yes

You paged Rush with 'Magic tn 6'.

Rush pages: Can I use SP?

You paged Rush with 'Yes.'.

Baron returns after a bit with his C4, and looks over the vehicle, then mashes the glob together and puts it dead center of the vehicle, plugging in a remote detonator "Alright, well, now that thats done, whats the next part?" he looks to Vixen

Baron grunts "Its magic, just shove it in there as hard as you can." He looks at the instructions to try to confirm his guess.

Indeed the instructions say apply ample force to fitting that part with the receptacle.

You paged Vixen with 'It does'.

Rush makes a command decision, this yo-yo act has had its last act. His form morphs again into the form of a large jawed Mastiff. He looks down at the thread tying the ghosts to the spectre and growls loudly, opening his jaws and grasping the thread and jerking his head from side to side in an attempt to shread the link. The face is that of a K9, however the intelligence in the eyes of the astral form shows a determination that can only be pure Dog shaman.

Applies all her strength to get the two pieces together and with a final painful effort she finally does it and holds the gizmo up in exultation. "YES!" She wipes sweat from her brow and looks at the piece again and strangely it looks like they were supposed to go together all the time. "Magic is weird."

There is loud snap, this in turn causes the whole structure to shake. Bits of debris fall about everywhere some of it landing on the vehicle but causing no damage. That same disembodied voice booms out again, "How dare you!" Within the garage but outside the perimeter of the warded area the drunk can be seen by all, he looks about reaches down and picks up a bottle that wasn't there and wanders off into the darkness.

Baron grunts and looks around "Well, that aint good sounding." he looks to Vixen "So do we bail now or stay in the ward?"

Vixen removes her gun and say's, "Think we need to stay and guard our friend." She nods to the mages meat body lying nearby. "Not sure if there's anything we can do to help him though…other than to stand guard." She crouches down next to Rush's body and checks him over. "Maybe we can put him in the RV just in case we need to get away quicklike."

Baron shakes his head "I heard moving their bodies is bad for em." he looks around the garage, frowning "Damn it, we probably wont even get paid for this job now."

Vixen chews her lip, "I don't know. Maybe…" She rubs her tired eyes.

Baron sighs "Alright, lets get back to work for now, all but last piece, I got the C4 in place too, just in case." he looks over the instructions, determining what to do next.

You paged Rush with 'Ghosts can move at the speed of thought too, Marcus swoops down the stairs his visage horribly burned and covered with glowing arcane markings, "You little wretch," he screams stopping near by. He lifts his arms, shouting something you don't understand while you see the energy build and crackle about his form.'.

Vixen nods and turns to look at the instructions from upside down. "Why the hell?" She picks up a big can of what appears to be water or fuel. "Supposed to add this liquid to the radiator." She chuckles and opens the can and sniffs, "Smells like unholy water to me."

Baron grunts and moves over to the radiator, uncapping it and finding a funnel to put inside it "Alright, lets get to filling. Get a move on muscles."

Rush pages: Init or just roll the freakin banish and pray? :)

You paged Rush with 'init roll.'.

Vixen smirks, "Ok fatty." She picks up the can and starts to fillin. She waits for Big B to beat her senseless.

Completing his spell Marcus points an outstretched finger at you, the bony tip looking accusing. Mana shrieks across the intervening distance to strike your being, and now looking at this being fills you with a fear you likely haven't felt since your were a child.'.

Baron makes his way back to the car, and starts back to work, only pausing long enough to eat another candybar, the man tends to eat when he is nervous, the fatty comment didnt phase him at all really, he might have even grinned a little at it. He simply goes back to working as fast as he can.

Rush's astral form changes into that of a chiuauaha puppy. He wimpers in his astral form as he cowers at the visage before him. Shivering he looks around wildly for somewhere to run and not finding one promptly urinates on the floor and ducks behind a door frame out of sight of the specter.

Rush pages: Can I act if I cant see him or how does that work? Is there a way to break it etc?

Long distance to Rush: Thog will rule that once he stops sustaining the spell the effect goes away, which I'm pretty sure is how it happens, anyhow.

You paged Rush with 'Also, you can act, however to act against him for the time being you'd be considered distracted +2 tns'.

Rush pages: I dont know, can you banish a specter or is it time to start slinging spells?

You paged Rush with 'Your action, or just hiding?'.

Rush pages: Ok can I like run without acting against him and be ok? But run towards him?

You paged Rush with 'Run away from him, no check. Run at him w/ intent will check tn 8 (6+2 distraction)'.

Rush pages: My whole thing of breaking the link out here was to get him away from the contact, I want to charge past him and get to the contract and rip it to shreads with my wee chiuauaua teefers. :)

Rush pages: Ok here we go…wish me luck :)

You paged Rush with 'running past is fine'.

You paged Rush with 'No roll.'.

Rush pages: Yay! I charge ! hehe

Rush pages: Posing. How far can I get? To the contract? Into the room etc?

You paged Rush with 'You can get all the way there.'.

Rush pages: Can I tear up the contract or is that next action?

You paged Rush with 'That would be the next phase.'.

Rush pages: Fair enough, posin :)

Rush the chi chi uua hua, finds his bark and growls at himself. He turns the corner full tilt with his eyes turned away from the spectre. He charges up the stairs, his small legs struggling for purchase at times on the floor of the hotel. He flashes past the specter, leaping between his legs, not chancing aa look at the creature for fear of running away again. He barrels into the room where his goal is located, the contract they all signed earlier. Leaping up onto the table he scoops the contract up in his wee teeth and again his astral form flows as he gathers power. He moves through several breeds finally landing on the classic dog that gave people nightmares from Omen, the Rottweiler. His power fully focused on breaking the link and dismissing the spectre as he eyes the doorway.

Baron keeps working to finish the project, his goal is to get paid here, and he plans to do that. He keeps working on the car with the crazy instructions until they will get to the final part, and that, he will not put together just yet.

«Plot» ThogLog says, "Sit-Rep: The car's assembly has been finished. Something has pissed the local Ghost off, and Rush is doing his impression of a side of beef. Vixen and Baron have weapons drawn, and things are going from creepy to worse."

«OOC» Rush notes Baron stopped before he put the last part on.

«Plot» Vixen says, "Was typing that too."

«Plot» ThogLog says, "Fair enough. Assembly is 99.99% complete."

The fat man reaches up to touch the datajack still in his head, looking around the garage. He sends a mental command to the Drone, that should anything else appear in this garage, to shoot it with searching fire. He looks around, holding the last part in his hand "Alright, shall we step out to the RV then and do the last part with the drone?"

Rush sits on the table in the astral, his astral form has morphed into that of a large Rottweiler. He has the parchment they all signed in his jaws and he is about to tear it to shreads as he awaits the specter's wrath to arrive.

You paged Rush with 'You feel the spell fall away, and the specter's pressence recede away from you. At the door, you do see the figure of the LS officer look around bewildered, at you then slowly fade away. Behind her, another form stands, dressed in a blood stained white nightgown.'.
Vixen nods and looks over Baron's work with the C4. She's gonna double check his work and asks, "Do you think we should make this…less noticeable?" She chuckles a bit and then nods to Baron looking over at Rush's prone form, "What about him?" She asks worriedly, and then adds, "Also, if you want to drive my van it has a pop up turret and big gun." She makes quick suggestions.

«Auto-Judge[]» Vixen (#1018) rolls Demolitions for "Checking Baron's work":

«Plot» ThogLog says, "Looks good to you."

«Auto-Judge[]» Slide (#3162) rolls 3 (Barons Demolitions) for "Setting it up in the first place, never rolled":
4 5 10

Baron grunts "We take the mage with us, but I need to keep up with my RCdeck or I wont be able to control the drone in here. So, I'll be in my RV." He lays the last part on the ground next to the car, and then starts heading for the exit, expecting the strong girl to carry the dwarf.
You paged Slide with 'It will definitely destroy the car, and isn't immediately visible. A good check will find it though.'.

Rush's form slides back into his usual dwarven self as the parchment fades and the spell falls away. He smiles as he sights the ghosts starting to fade off the astral plane and go wherever they go. He turns to regard the bloody sister as she appears behind him. He remains slightly on his guard, still not completely sure this is at its conclusion.

Vixen nods, "OK." She bends to the dwarf and careful not jostle the halfer too much picks him up and settles him in her van in the passenger seat and puts the seat belt on him.

Baron makes his way back into his RV, then starts it up to keep the engine warm and ready. He then leaps into his drone, and moves over to pick up the final part «Alright, going to put it together now.» he then grabs the proper tool with the drone and moves over to start finishing up the car.

Vixen starts up her van and hits her comm, "We gonna wait for the mages go before we put that last part on?" Curiosity in her tone not to mention a bit of worry. "I don't want to end up stuck in some weird ass steam car for eternity you know."

You paged Rush with 'You are still marked, Lovecraft will contact you again if he has need, and he already knows the vehicle is finished. As for my brother he is going after your friends, you should hurry and remember the cat," with this Melody disappears again, moving at the speed of thought. Even that snippet of conversation seems to have faded her though.'.

Rush pages: Did I see a cat while we were downstairs?

You paged Rush with 'When you first arrived. Also a picture of one in the 'evidence'.'.

The Drone pauses, not yet tightning up the final part to the car «Alright, waiting on the mages ok» he uses his sensors to sweep the garage, looking for any signs of trouble.

Rush's eyes widen in realization as he tears the parchment in half with his bare hands. He moves at the speed of thought, heading to his body as fast as he can down the stairs. He doesnt even use the pretense of running on the astral stairs in his haste, flying down the stairwells like some super hero from a comic trid.

Commlink-Vixen> Vixen nods and say's, "OKay." She turns on the van and waits with the engine idling for the mage to return from wherever he is, her fingers drumming anxiously on the steering wheel.

You paged Slide with 'As the drone approaches the car, it catches sight of a cat, it appears to be of a dark color maybe even black. It also seems to be looking rather intently at the 'car'.'.

The drone speaks to the cat through an intercom "You need something? I'm just waiting a minute before I finish." The rigger in the RV though remains wary, he may have to shoot the cat if things go badly.

Rush pages: Did I get to my body yet? :)

The drone approaches the car, invisibly, holding the final part. A cat, is also in the garage, outside of the warded area peering intently at the vehicle. It looks towards the drone's voice, eyes narrowing before scampering back into the shadows.

You paged Rush with 'Now you have.'.

Rush's body jerks awake and he shouts, "The CAT!" He looks around slightly disoriented as he fumbles with the seat belt. He pulls the seat belt off and opens the door on Vixens's vehicle, looking for the cat..

Commlink-Rush> Rush says, "Find that cat!"

Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "It was just in the garage"

Commlink-Tex> Slide says, "Do I put the final part on or not?"

Commlink-Rush> Rush says, "NO!"

Commlink-Rush> Rush says, "There is a specter prowling around outside that ward, remain inside and Ill handle it. Where did you see the cat last?"

The drone drops the part, then starts walking away from the car «Cat was just outside the ward in the garage, it ran into the shadows. You want me to blow up the car?»

Commlink-Vixen> Vixen says, "OK I'll get the cat. Don't blow up the car until we are out of the garage. Might not have to blow it up yet anyway." Vixen jumps out of the van and goes cat hunting with Rush."

«Auto-Judge[]» Vixen (#1018) rolls Reaction vs TN 6 for "Maybe better than a cat":

Baron grunts over the comm «Alright, now what? What do we do now?» He does a quick perimeter check with his Blimp drones sensors, then focuses on the Servitor drone inside the garage, invisible too of course.

Rush pages: I assence the cat.

Commlink-Vixen> Vixen says, "Got it!"

«Auto-Judge[]» Rush (#8261) rolls Intelligence vs TN 4 (to ThogLog) for "Assence the cat!":
1 1 2 5 5 11 = 3 Successes

You paged Rush with 'There is a link between the cat, and something else.'.

Rush pages: Ill take the cat from Vixen and then use it to banish the freakin Specter.

Commlink-Rush> Rush says, "Bring it inside the ward and meet me at the vehicle."

In front of the RV, a man appears from no-where smiling a gentile smile, "Hello," then he stiffens looking towards the garage, "now-now, no need to get abusive, is there half-pint?"

Commlink-Baron> Baron says, "Contact outside, want me to blast him?"

Commlink-Vixen> Vixen says, "OK." The woman carries the squirming cat into the ward, trying not to get scratched."

Rush turns and runs back to the vehicle. He sits on the ground and closes his eyes, as Vixen arrives with the cat he says, "Give her to me please." He takes the cat from Vixen and closes his eyes. He takes a hold of the thread connecting the cat and focuses on it, his physical form taking on the aspect of the Rottweiler momentarily. "Half-pint I am, but banished you are!" He opens his eyes and barks at the specter, his will focused with the action, the sound strangely amplified.

Vixen hands Rush the squirming cat, "Here ya go." A little bit worried about the cats fate but trying to suppress her softer side.

Commlink-Vixen> Vixen says, "What kind of contact?"

Commlink-Baron> Baron says, "Man, just appeared outside the garage."

Commlink-Vixen> Vixen says, "Whats he want?"

Commlink-Baron> Baron says, "I have no idea, I just know he is looking into the garage, you want me to shoot him?"

Rush pages: Oh well stand on 4

Commlink-Vixen> Vixen says, "Can you just sort of knock em out?"

Commlink-Baron> Baron says, "Fine, let me try something."

Baron leaves orders for his Servitor drone to shoot anything that comes into the garage, and then leaps into his blimp drone, popping out the turret and looking for the guy outside the garage.

The Man looking in Rush's direction starts to move then is apparently struck with paralysis. Even here, in his domain he isn't all powerful, this evident by arcs of mana flowing over his form. He grunts as if physically struck.

Baron grumbles as he cant find contact with the blimp, then leaps back into the servitor drone, he scans the area and spots the target, though he really doesnt understand the arcs of energy flowing around him, but damn if that doesnt look bad for them. The drone raises its left arm, then starts its high pitched whine of bullets flying out towards the target.

«Auto-Judge[]» Baron (#3002) rolls Gunnery + Combat Pool: 7 + 6 (Searching Fire) vs TN 4 for "Base TN 4, -2 SL2, +2 Recoil. 24M damage":

Vixen moves towards her van with some haste and starts to climb back inside and then realizes the damn mage isn't in the van again. "Shit!" She hops back out and picks up the small halfer and shoves him back into the seat. "Will you frakkin stay put!"

Rush starts to sweat and visibly shake, his hands on the cat. Interestingly enough, to spite his concentration and obvious aggressive posture, he cradles the cat as one might a child. Again he opens his eyes and views the effect of his will on the specter. He frowns and places his hand on top of the cats head, his face taking on a look of determination.

«Auto-Judge[]» ThogLog (#5726) rolls 12 vs TN 12 for "Spirit soaks?":

You paged Rush with 'Will check tn 8, feed back.'.

«Plot» ThogLog says, "Baron, pose it up. You riddle this guy w/ bullets and will 'kill' him."

«OOC» Baron says, "Well, disrupt :)"

Rush pages: Straight will ?

«Auto-Judge[]» Rush (#8261) rolls Willpower vs TN 8 (to ThogLog) for "Feedback from death of Specter.":
1 2 5 5 8 11 32 = 3 Successes

There is something very distinctive about a high velocity weapon, once you hear the sound, you will always remember it. 18 individual bullets are fired out towards the target, at such a high rate of speed that the sound is almost one continual noise instead of broken up into smaller ones. In this case, the ammo begins to shred the mans form, bullets tearing through the form at various locations, the attacker chose to spread his fire to make sure he hit, and the bullets rip into arms, legs, chest, head and other parts of the spirits body. Eventually, the weapon proves too strong for the spirit to maintain his corporeal form, and it dissapates into mana energy.

Vixen can hear the sounds of bullets echoing through the garage and glances over at the unconscious mage with the cat in her passenger seat. She sighs and keys her comm, "What's goin on?" Her own gun in hand ready to be fired at the nearest target, her foot on the gas pedal ready to exit the building in hasty retreat.

Commlink-Baron> Baron says, "Well….it vanished, dont know what that means, but its not here anymore"

You paged Rush with 'Next banish test. The will was to keep hold of him.'.

Commlink-Vixen> Vixen says, "That sounds like a good thing. Shall we have the drone finish the car and get out of here? I'm getting creeped out."

Commlink-Baron> Baron says, "Wait on the mage again, lets make sure the thing didnt just vanish on me and isnt going to pop right back up"

Rush's small body rests with the cat in his lap in the front seat of Vixen's vehicle. As the bullets strike the specter he is currenly engaged with, the feedback pours into the dwarf, his body convulsing as if he were being hit with the bullets as well. A small trickle of blood starts from one nostril, his eyes opening but only the whites are showing. He growls deeply, the gutteral noise coming from deep in the young dwarves body. His visage hazes again as the shamanic mask covers his features and the image of an American Pitbull settles there as he attempts to hold onto the specter's essence to banish it for good.

Rush pages: What do you need me to roll TN etc?

Commlink-Vixen> Vixen says, "Alright. I'm waiting then…" She taps her fingers on the steering wheel again nervously. "Patiently.""

You paged Rush with 'magic tn 6-2 you need three net successes'.

«Auto-Judge[]» Rush (#8261) rolls Magic vs TN 4 (to ThogLog) for " TN6-2 for link to banish his specter self.":

Vixen glances over at the mage and gasps, "Fuck!" She tries to check his vitals and make sure the symptoms she's seeing aren't serious.

From afar, Rush cheers!!!

«Auto-Judge[]» Vixen (#1018) rolls Biotech for "Rush ok?":
1 3 3 10 10

You paged Rush with 'Pose it up.'.

You paged Vixen with 'No actually wounds, must some kind of feedback loop with his battle.'.

Vixen sighs a bit and pats Rush's shoulder in relief. She hates feeling this helpless.

Baron continues to scan the garage with his drones sensors, he saw the thing vanish, but that doesn't mean drek as far as magic is concerned. In the RV, Barons body lies on his bed, the remote detonator near his hand should he need to grab it quickly and blow the car.

Rush's vitals are low, he hovers on the edge of death. But as the mask illustrates, he is a fighter and holds onto the specter with a tenacity true to his totem. He rips the specter's essence away from this plane and banishes it for good. The effect is immediate as the shaman's eyes close violently, blood seeping from under his eyelids for a moment before they snap open. "Finish the car…" The voice is Rush's but it is calm and shows an edge that wasnt there before. As he opens his eyes to look at Vixen, it appears that every blood vessel in his eyes have ruptured, brown pupils surrounded in a sea of red. He smiles at Vixen and collapses in the seat.

Commlink-Vixen> Vixen says, "OK Baron. The mage gave us the go ahead to finish the car."

Commlink-Baron> Baron says, "Alright"

Baron lowers the weapon arm of the drone, then moves over to the car and picks up the final part and the tools to assemble it. The drone climbs over the vehicle and gets into position, placing the part where it belongs, then begining to tighten it down into place.

Nothing spectacular happens when the last piece is fitted in, the car just sits there. Looking like the odd contraption it is.

Commlink-Baron> Baron says, "Well….parts in place, and nothing happened."

Commlink-Vixen> Vixen says, "I'll call that good news. What did ya expect? For our souls to get sucked into it? (hardyharharhar)"

Commlink-Baron> Baron says, "Removing the C4 I guess, no sense letting it go to waste"

«Plot» ThogLog says, "Rush, reaction test tn 7"

After a few minutes, Rush speaks but his eyes remain closed. "We are finished, our contract is fullfilled. We can go and collect our payment." He turns over in the seat to face Vixen and opens his pools of redness to gaze at her. Thats going to take a while to heal for sure. He smiles simply and curls up in the seat as if he were on a rug in front of a fire.

«Auto-Judge[]» Rush (#8261) rolls Reaction vs TN 7 for "Wha? Who?":

As soon as there's a chance, the cat bolts from Rush's hands. Going out the window in two fluid strides, before darting for the darkness.
«OOC» Rush says, "To be honest that makes sense, Rush forgot about the thing heh."

Vixen nods a bit and watches the cat make a break for it. "Well I got a friend that might be able to help ya." She sighs though in relief.

Baron maneuvers his drone under the car to pickup the C4 he planted there, then starts heading back to his RV. He sends a signal to the blimp drone to return to the RV as well, and opens the back door to make room for both drones to come inside. He delicately takes the C4 and disarms it in his own hands, putting the items back into storage.

Rush pages: Im gonna regret not killing that cat arent I? heh

Just before the cat disappears into the shadows, it looks over it's shoulder like cats are want to do. This gaze is unsettling, intelligent and flashes a fiery red before the cat slinks off.

«OOC» Rush says, "Damn it! heh"

Vixen starts the engine of the van back up and say's, "Where do you want to be dropped off?" Already spending her yen in her head.

Rush appears to consider this, his hands going under his head like a child getting ready to sleep. "Take me to the gold…" He smiles and closes his eyes and sighs deeply.

«Plot» ThogLog says, "All depart?"

«OOC» Baron says, "Yep"

«Plot» ThogLog does a wrap pose then.

Vixen chuckles and nods putting the van into drive and heading off to where the gold is.

The team leaves the car in the garage, at the hotel that is all too strange for the average person to enter. They have thier mission met, but something about it leaves an odd taste.
Two or three blocks away from the hotel the pair of drivers will see a tall skinny figure with shoulder length grey hair, dressed in a dark blue suit circa, nineteenth century. You could've rolled right by him, except the lamp he is under, is lit. This deep in the warrens that's out right odd. Stopping, he steps to the driver's side offering a briefcase with a smile, "I knew I could count on you. My 'number' is inside, divide the spoils however you wish."

Rush reaches down and pulls his headphones up from around his neck. He turns on his music, the tones of J-Pop emitting from the headphones into the quiet interior of Vixen's vehicle. His booted foot taps against the seat as he smiles and seems to groove to the music. As they meet the J he opens his eyes and looks him up and down. He looks over Vixens shoulder through the window and frowns shaking his head. "Another time…" He starts to settle back into the seat when he sits back up and looks at the J and smiles. "Yeah…but you know that dont you…" He laughs to himself and settles back into the seat.

Baron follows along behind the van in his RV, setting it to follow the van while he cooks himself a nukeit meal, he checks the sensors after the van stops, then waits to hear from the rest of the team.

Vixen lifts a brow and takes the briefcase and hands it over to Rush hurriedly not wanting to touch anything from this guy really. She nods amicably though and say's, "Hope the car works out well."
