Dalton routinely checks shadowlands for intersting tidbits. He sits quietly in his apartment today and goes over the latests posts. More about that SLAPact and the ruckus about magic, it bothers him that he may have to register as a shaman. Ohh well. He continues to browse through the listings then pauses on the one about Fortune coming to Denver. Why would anyone post this, announcing thier arrival, is it a warning? He frowns and picks up a cellphone, dialing his Fixer Samantha.

Ring Ring. Ring Ring. *pop* There is a crackling sound of the line going over a shadow LTG and becoming encrypted as Samantha answers her phone. "Whats up, babe?" she asks— the vid displaying a picture of a the latest Neo Metal band: Thrash Trash. Vid appears to be off right now.

Dalton smiles faintly "Its Nightmare, I was just reading some stuff on shadowland, and it caught my curiousity. Since your in the know, what have you heard about the Fortunates, or Fortune, or whatever it is coming to Denver?"

"That post on the 'lands," Samantha says as she slurps on something that sounds like cola from an glass that is more than half empty. "Shit omae, thats the question of the minute. Deckers are putting that sort of data at whole sale. Premo stuff— too— especially for a kid like you. Targets shadowrunners. Want in on the bid?"

Dalton sighs "Yea, I guess count me in on the information. I was hoping this wasnt some crazed team of mage hunters, but knowing my luck, it probably is. How much do I need to send you?"

Samantha doesnt miss a beat, "Scream sheet will run ya a clean one kay."

Dalton reaches out for his pocsec, then keys in a few things "Alright, making the transfer now. 1 K, coming at your usual drop from me. Done."

"Hear you go, kiddo," says the voice on the other line as she sends over an encrypted file, "Passcode to it is…" and she rattles off a long passphrase. Samantha says, "Need anything else?"

Dalton shakes his head "Nope, that should take care of my needs for now. Thanks for the info, I'll be in touch if I need more." With that, he hangs up the phone, then opens the file and puts in the passcode, seeing what he paid 1k for.

The information is a loose collection of threads from other Shadowland nodes. It looks like SeaTac is in here too, from Seattle. It all starts the same way on each Shadowland node.

A group of people, called 'The Fortunates' herald thier coming. Alpha is always first— followed by Pink, Grim, Shady, Digital, Metal, and Spirtual. They bring to the region what it called the 'Shadow Games'— an event that seeks out the best of the best in the region with some heavy rewards, or 'Fortune' to be had by those who come out on top. The whole mechanic is very ironed out— and people only 'play' as defined, registered teams. The kicker is that the teams don't require any solid ID— they only require registration. Then the leader is granted 3 keycodes. It requires any 2 keycodes to accept these weekly 'Game Events' which are equivilent to very high paying Shadowruns.

The benefit to these runs is more than JUST the payout. People have reported to score some otherwise unobtainable thigns through these Games. Deltaware. Artifacts. Prototype Weaponry. Obscene money. And rep— thats what is the longterm benefit. The street cred from these games can make or break a runner's carrer.

No one is truly certain who the 'Fortunates' are, but there are theories. AIs and Dragons— bored and wanting something to do behind the scenes— ex-shadowrunners with great clout or Top Level Executives looking for private contracts. Free Spirits that are Player motivated. No one is truly sure. All they know is that the influence they wield is immense— and fleeting. The last time the Fortunates posted was two years ago, and that was in Seattle.

Dalton leans back in his chair, looking over the data, then shaking his head, risk vs reward, whatever this is, its going to be big, and the first thing to do, is start telling certain people about it and forming a strong team. He starts sending out a few trix mails to various contacts.
