GM: Posh
Players: Prey, Posh, Krieg, Feather
Synopsis: Posh hires a local expert to help act on a tipoff from her softs dealer. Little does she know that means that she’s going to be asking for an entire local crew to work together to take down a shipment! Also, Feather punches out an ork. Who has a shotgun. On the back of a moving truck!
Date: 10/28/2075
Posh has been putting the word out for her contacts lately: in addition to purchasing from them, she's looking for any convenient tipoffs from their competitors, for some of that good, solid heisting action. Feather's in debt to her, for certain, and she's sure Krieg's going to go along with the purpose of this one. Prey, well..she's going to have to pay Prey out of her own pocket for this one.
She sends a message around to Feather and Krieg to meet her in the van at the Woodlands, which she'll then nav to drive into the Warrens, where it will adopt a color of beige, bird poop, and rust, and slowly, quietly, pull up in front of where Prey had commanded, and open its side door.
"Come on in," says Posh, mid-creation of a BattleTac map on the master unit she'd stood up from of the area, adding annotations. "I've got a particular job, and, well, I'd love to hire you, personally. For a heist," she says. "My softs dealer has tipped me off that a competitor of his is shipping some of his best, most restricted stuff: weaponized instructors, high level things, via armored transport through the Warrens, paying for escort from some of the toughest of the unaligned local crews," she says. "He doesn't like that at all: he says that his military suppliers can't lower prices for him like that," she says. "So. We need to take out an armored convoy in the Rens, and likely a good heavy escort, besides," she says. "I suppose we'd best get started." She nods. "The convoy runs from the northeastern checkpoint, where it enters and meets its guards, through the 'Rens to the western, skipping the northernmost," she explains. "That's the general route Dean's tipped us off to. So. Who's got ideas for hitting a convoy in the Rens?" she asks. "The rockets /might/ bring the cops…eventually. I do have some Zappers left over."
Krieg simply follows along, it's easy to do since she's Battletac'd as well. She continues preparing things with Senshi, double checking each harness point. She does a quick comms check, encryption re-keying and sets up the image feed protocols for the network to share with others when her Surveillance goes live. "It sounds reasonably doable with our current resources. We will need to strike quickly, while it's unlikely re-inforcements will come before we can retreive the items, there is the possability of vultures coming to loot as well."
Prey of course had Posh pull up in front of the dungeon. Where the heck else would she have the english one show up? A grunt as she moves into the van, shaking her head. "You are already talking to tough."
Posh rolls her eyes as Feather refuses to show up for the meet AGAIN, invisigirl on her invisibike. "All right," she says, with a nod. "Indeed, that's the way that we'll really be able to take care of this one. A convoy of two Rens battlewagons and a Citymaster isn't going to stand much chance against police grade rockets," she says. "Is that LMG going to escalate things, in your opinion, or is it not a considerable consideration?" she asks. "In any case, I wonder if we might do well to…" She nods indeed at Krieg. "I hadn't really thought of that," she says. "This might be one where we'd risk the van itself as part of the operation, actually," she says. "Neither a Citymaster carting expensive, but not exactly novahot gear through the Rens, nor their equipment, is likely to have…" She trails off a bit as Prey enters the van, likely becoming Prey as well, temporarily, the door sliding shut as the van sidles off, away from the dungeon. "Talking too tough?"
"Twenty to fourty armed men on the convoy itself if anyone is sending close to anything through here worth one ounce of rat shit. Fuck chica, the Knights of a New Age don't come down even in Steve's turf with anything less than two battlwagons, four squads, and helicopters. And they are the fuckin law." Prey rolls her shoulders into a shrug. Cracking her neck as she looks around the inside of the van. "So a whole gangs worth of fighters, in the best armor they can come up with with fully automatic weapons. And that means everyone /else/ is going to be watching them, because you got that many fighters you are moving something big." Another nod, and the brown one leans over, peering at Krieg for a moment. She was new. "So the instant they get hit, everyone else starts piling on trying to get their piece of the pie. Hitting that shit in transit is a no-go."
"What if we were to arrange exactly that? Hitting that shit in transit, and letting everyone in the vicinity get into it with each other?" she ponders. "Then as things are…dying down, so to speak, well…" She chuckles a bit. "Well, this is why I wanted to bring you on board for this one, to consult," she says. "I'm offering over twenty grand for your help on this," she says. "If this were a B-Zone shipment, things would be much different…quicker, use shock, the bystanders aren't going to crowd things." She frowns. "What if we were to add a dispersant? Smoke grenades?" she asks. "None of these are likely to be able to engage effectively if under that kind of sustained grenade assault are they?" she asks.
"If rockets are already being fired in an engagement the ue of an LMG is only creating a complex ambush of combined arms. I do not beleive we have anything to fear of basic ground units unless they are prepared to fight an engagement vs small fast vehicles or have sniper support. If we are to win, we must not hold back our attack capabilities, unfortunately." Krieg notes as she assists Senshi is adjusting his LMG on his harness. She looks to the new one, Prey. "I would not put the van in danger, it is not capable of sustained combat operations. Hello." she finishes the statement.
"It's not capable of such against dedicated anti-vehicular threats," she says. "However, I suppose that means that there's a not impossible chance someone's got a Great Dragon or a few Spikes with AV rockets hidden somewhere," she says. "It seems like it might be capable of sustained operations if you were rigging it, or am I gravely mistaken?" Posh asks.
"You are talking couple hundred, all well and told, assuming the Saints or the Sons don't get whiff and move in. In wich case you can just kiss the shit good bye." Prey grunts once, reaching up above her head to cross her arm at ninety degrees. Elbow planted into the ceiling of the van to brace herself. "Five, six gangs, everyone hopped up on drugs, assault rifles, bikes, tire irons, and molotovs. I ain't walking into that. I didn't get this far by being dumb. Hit it after it stops. Less chance of the shit getting blown up that way."
"Well, that's talking about the least civilized parts," says Posh. "What about hitting it, well, a little closer to the Rez?" she asks. "You can likely keep scavs away with smoke and nero-stun grenades, or is that an error?" she asks, a little curious about Prey's expertise. "I'll admit I haven't seen things go quite like that on some jobs before…that's rather densely populated and quick. I thought the response times for gangs like that would be in the minutes, not in the seconds," she says, a little surprise. "I mean, with Zappers, all the seals will pop open, they're not going to be able to have other than physical locks," she shrugs. "Plus they'll be vulnerable to the gas too. Usually smokes 'em out."
She shrugs. "Well, if we hit 'em after they stop, they'll already be inside the target's compound." She looks rather demoralized. "Well, screw that Dean, guess it was a rubbish tip, after all."
Posh brightens. "I thought this might be a chance to use a little something uncommon, but I suppose you're right. It would just render us a tougher target. I suppose we'll have to wait until someone…ships chips like these city to city, for some odd reason.
"I can either defend the vehicle, or perform the attack. It would be extreamly dangerous to attempt both in such a dynamic engagement." Krieg mentions as she peers at Prey and begins the assessment. "I do not beleive numbers of minor combatants will be capable of overwhelming our efferts if kept at range. If our priorities are clear and the single target vehicle is our goal, the others may be left to handle the overflow of individuals."
"Normally you don't have a huge, obvious, convoy full of obviously important shit trying to make its way down main street. That means it is going to be watched, and everyone will be waiting for their oppertunity. And if /Gabriel/ knows of it, and decides he wants it. The instant that convoy gets hit, you lose." Prey shakes her head softly. "Hit it before the rens, after, or wherever it stops. Law works in your favor this time."
"Could you not defend the vehicle, and direct Senshi to provide covering fire from the ring mount?" Posh says, likely causing Prey's eyelid to twitch.
Posh nods to Krieg. "Yes, yes, you're right," she says. "It's such insight which is why I was hoping to have you along for this," she says. "I don't suppose we might be able to perform a little…favor for Gabriel, by any chance, in exchange for ensuring that he /doesn't/ descide he wants it?" she asks. "Or is that not how things work here either?"
"Wouldn't know. I ain't on much terms at all with the Saints other than a drop by the pool hall every while, and thinking about singining up with the Silver Angels once." Prey nods. "I couldn't give you heads or tails of him, other than to say he can throw bout three hundred bodies at the problem if he feels the need."
"Yes, I could, but the chances of the vehicle being struck statistically raises as the number of combatants increases. Based on the concept of height to loss statistics the larger vehicle will be hit and destroyed a magnitude more than the smaller one." She notes and brushes her thumb across her nose. "That is not to say it is impossible, but the larger the engagement…" She finishes looking prey over then returns to her work. "I am sure vehicles, weapons, gear and armor is an acceptable volume of goods to be pilfered by an attacking force if they see the enemy is already engaged or weakened."
Posh frowns a little. "I don't know," she says. "Warrens job, Warrens rules. That might apply for badlands scavs but." Posh shakes her head. "I can't come up with anything the local expert doesn't just think is a deathtrap. I'm sorry, Krieg, I don't see how I can get this one together."
"Most shit in the Rens is a deathtrap. You are used to the outside. Law works in your favor, means shit is played by certain rules. That don't apply here. You want to hit it in transit, hit it before it comes into the Rens. Or pick a smaller convoy that isn't going to be watched." Prey shrugs.
Posh chuckles. "I thought three vehicles /was/ a small convoy. Guess I was wrong," she says, with a grain. "Then again, the Star only rolls in with what, three fully loaded citymasters?" she asks.
"If that." Prey shakes her head again. "Look, how important is this shit?"
Posh frowns. "It's…well, moderately important. I'd say it could fetch maybe…about a hundred fifty on the black market, some incidentals, a little more?" she suggests. "I mean, if you added it all together and got a really sweetheart fence."
"Yeah, that is going to get watched." Prey nods her head, then suddenly grins wide. "What you got to trade?"

Posh looks back eerily at Prey. "What do you mean, trade?" she asks. "I mean, I don't really have anything to trade," she says. "I have a couple of missiles, but those are for personal defense, making things happen with jobs like this. I have a nice stash, but recently, I fenced almost everything I could and reinvested," she says. "That's how I bought my clinic and got it set up at the 'Stille."
"Well ain't that cute." Prey does that thing again, where she stretches, then slowly clenches her finger. "You went into this not thinking of the geo-..political situation in the rens." Prey has some obvious trouble with the word geopolitical, but she still nods. "Gonna have to pull the convoy off the route everyone knows it is going to take. Buys time, then you are going to have to have a screen for your operation." Another pause then, and Prey looks to Krieg, tilting her head lightly, before her eyes snap back to Posh. "Whack-O. Handles a lot of the talking for the Ironsiders. Probably be able to get twenty or so on the job, make the convoy turn off it's route. They are going to want the battlewagons for themselves chica, so no blowing them up, and they may ask for a little more. And /you/ are going to have to talk to them. But they are also in good with the Saints."
Posh arches an eyebrow. "I did come in thinking of the geopolitical situation in the area," replies Posh a bit. "By hiring you. But thank you, indeed, for getting round to doing your job rather than repeated naysaying," she says, almost challengingly, looking directly back at Prey.
"No blowing them up…" She frowns a bit. "We can promise the use of one Zapper, so they can have the citymaster," she says. "And I'll even see about getting my buddy Rollo over in Orktown to have his boys fix it up for them, afterward," she says. "Aside from that, it was going to be anti-vehicular rockets. To save money. Do you think that'd work?" she asks. "After all, we want /just/ the contents. We don't need the vehicles."
"I am just here for the unbridled violence." Krieg says coldly, loading the assault pack onto Senshi's LMG for him as he then positions the belt in the feed mechanism.
"Don't know. You would have to talk to them. But I am telling you they will most likely want the vehicles. They will salvage them themselves. Run chop shops all over the place." Prey shrugs again.
Posh nods. "All right," she says. "Can you…help set up a meeting? A time when the boss is going to be holding court? Because you're going to be going with me. I need you squeezing my elbow if it seems I'm about to go off on a bitch parade," she says.
-----> Contact for Prey (#7128) <------
Contact Name: King Steven
Level: 1
Type: gang leader
GM Note: King Steven of the Royals. Prey knows him a little on and off, to her, he is an example of a life better outside what she has grown in. To him, she is an easy source of additional heavy muscle. A sort of small partnership has grown between them. Money and information flow both ways.
+theme gangs Royals (and +theme gangs AAC) -> Extremely Influential.
King Steven. Steven James was once worked for a corporation, they say, maybe Ares even. He got caught in an extraction gone bad and ended up stuck in the Warrens. His shrewd knowledge of the business world proved useful to the former head of the Royals up until Steven had him killed. King Steven is an utterly ruthless businessman who has ethics of a lawyer crossed with a shark. He rules by intelligence and with a reward system: if you do well by him, you'll advance and are rewarded. Threaten his bottom line and you'll see how quickly he'll move to eliminate you.
Feather finally phones home, her number popping up as she dials into the van, or if there's no response there, to Posh directly.
The screaming of a high-displacement motorcycle engine in the background, even through the noise-cancelling, says she's on the move. "Posh," she says, her voice its more typical flat, restrained tone. "I am sorry for the delay. I had a job. I was repaying a favor." Is she talking about that favor? "Where should I rendezvous with you?"
Posh updates Feather with the location of the van again, which has been beeping a constant signal to Feather to meet there.
"Well," says Posh, "All right then." She gathers together all of the information that she can, rings up Les, and listens to him yap off at her as she says that she would like to arrange an audience with the King himself.
Yes. So that starts a long chain of events. Actually, Les mentions that Nigel Findrey, Posh's lawyer, happened to have a distant connection to the King. However, Nigel mentions that the best person to arrange a few moments of the King's time would be a FAMOUS PIT FIGHTER, so Posh glares. And glares. And glares, until she convinces Prey to send a message to the King's /people/ not the King for her.
Posh, meanwhile, dresses up as best as she can. She's not an unknown shadow persona, but she figures that the King likes his audience members looking a little corporate. So she dons a Sleeping Tiger suit, and with Prey in tow, she's got her best warrior goddess on.
"Than you for your time," she says, dipping her head politely. "I've got an intersting opportunity, and I thought we might split the pot," she says. "There are some…items that I would like in a convoy, passing through your land. If you were to give us…grace to get what we need, a set of virtual instructors, well…" She smiles. "We would stop the convoy for you. Bait a trap. I hope that this token of our respect, and acknowledgement of your own ability to do what we propose without us, of course, might be convincing." She nods to Prey, to present the gift that she'd lined up: Indeed, it is a token of no small value, a single, top-spec, anti-vehicular missile, wrapped up with a pretty red bow. It's not a cheap gift. Posh sure knows how to pick them.
"I hope this means we can do business, Your Majesty."
«Plot» Posh says, "Posh offers tribute of 1 Anti-Vehicular missile, as well as promises to offer salvage rights."

Feather winds her way through the Warrens. She might be a bit too much of a career criminal, on some days, judging by just how many people seem to own a slice of her loyalty. Repaying "favors" seems to be a constant theme for her, lately.
She makes it through the checkpoint without much problem, heading toward the team, following the GPS signal Posh set up for her. Once she arrives, she spends a moment getting caught up with the plan.
The van awaits outside the King's broken-down casino property, where he'd been scheduling the meet, with Feather left to scowl at passing scavs.
The King is the King, and well, battle vehicles were probably worth more than the cargo. Posh does not find it hard to reach an agreement with the local gangs, after all, business is business. And business is good. The convoy will be redirected.

Posh emerges later with a rather bright smile. "Well," she says, with a smile to Prey following at her hip. "Have to say that you're going to be worth every penny of what I've scraped upt," she says. "All right," she says. "Now that we've got that secured…this'll be much simpler. The convoy's going to be in a turnoff," she says. "I'll fire a Zapper rocket, unguided, while you Senshi and Feather, at least if she ever gets here, will each fire a rocket from the stash," she says. "We will then deploy smoke and assault. Unarmed," she says. "That's all I could get the King to agree to. He doesn't want us making any mistakes with his people in the confusion," she says.
"So that means, all of us will be going into that smoke, bare handed," she says. "You all ready? The shipment's soon, and we don't have a lot of time to get set up." Posh decides againsts risking the Lashers or the Multi-launcher: this is a more direct action. So instead it's six Spikes, two apiece just in case, with AV rockets, unguided, in addition to the Zapper. Can't risk damaging the merch, after all. She dumps this duffel back in the van after emerging. "All right," she says.
Posh plugs in the ambush point, hefting the grenade launcher filled with smokies, and hands it to Prey. "Just point this in the general direction and shoot. You don't have to be really on target. That'll give us the smoke cover. Launch after the rockets hit," she suggests. "That's the confusion we'll break on into," she says. "The King's attack will cover our theft, and then we're back into this alley, and we escape in the van," she says. "All right. Into positions. Remember. No weapons when we rush the Citymaster."
"It does not seem untypical of our methods. The additional cover of the locals will likely prove an effective force multiplier." Krieg states as she sits down beside Senshi and awaits the others decision.
Posh smiles at Feather. "All right," she says. "So, we'll be all at ground level, in doorways," she clarifies again. "Each of us will have two Spikes. Mine will be loaded with Zappers," she says. "After firing missiles, we charge in unarmed, with Prey smoking the damaged vehicles," she says. "We get our way in, steal what we can while our attack is covered by a more general assault. We've gotta be unarmed to prevent even more confusion, that was the King's condition." She shrugs. "Anyway, after we retrieve from the truck, we escape to the van. Senshi, as fastest, also retrieves any unused munitions from the earlier attack position, and then we scoot out of here, while the King gets his vehicles," she says.
"All right. It's go time," Posh says. "I think I even hear it." There's a few shots, indeed, in the distance, the sound of the blocking crew, likely, and Posh nods, grabbing her two launchers and hopping out of the van, into the alleyway, and then out into the delivery area dead end where the prey's being beaten towards.

Feather climbs her way into position as the ambush is readied, taking up an ultimately ineffective aim against the targets as they pass. The rocket is fired, flying a little wide. Shouldn't she be better at this? Her people did invent rockets.
But she seems to have been waiting for this to turn up close and personal. She races toward the convoy as the smoke screen spreads, obscuring visibility. As an ork starts pumping assault shotgun fire from one vehicle into the attacking forces, she vaults up and over into the open-topped vehicle, using the upper rim of the vehicle for leverage as she brings her steel-toed boots down in an axe kick across the ork's face. A scuffle ensues, Feather's superior visibility within the smoke working to her advantage.

Feather's fist pounds into the ork and he roars with a little rage, trying to resight his shotgun on her, but he's not in the best of ways. He's clearly losing this battle already, as he tries to engage with the nimble Feather, but it seems that her skills are too much for him.
«Plot» Posh says, "Prey. You're up."
«Plot» Posh says, "You can. Alternatively you can make an Athletics test to attack either the ork Feather is engaged with (getting FIMM) or the wounded gunner of the other truck."

With the maglocks of the citymaster somewhat damaged, it's not difficult for Prey's rather impressive strength to rip open the mechanical lock of the back door. There's the unconscuious form of the rigger, not likely to receive a good end, though maybe he'll get ransomed by the King.
It's only been seconds since the rockets streaked out, but already Feather has launched herself onto one of the trucks, and is punching the ork there for all he's worth, blood from a snapped tusk on her fist, while Prey has counted coup on another truck before tearing open the back of the mauled Citymaster.
She sees a pair of large suitcases there, easily appropriate for carrying large quantities of chips and softs, and not much else. "Fuck! Call the king now! Call him! Get our asses out of here!" screams someone into a comm, paying no attention, actually, to Prey raiding the truck.
Perhaps a natural reaction to what's about to come.
Posh watches Prey grab the two cases and immediately aborts her own approach, dashing towards the minivan. «Senshi. The rockets,» she comms, as she starts to disengage. But she might have made that order too soon, as easily the gunners are going to get another shot off at folks if nothing is done…

Senshi continues under Posh's direction, rapidly collecting the 'evidence' of there events to fast for most to even know what he is doing.

It was a bit of a miscaculation for Posh. The bullets /tear/ right into her, stumbling her a little messily to the ground - it's a good thing she's bleeding in the Warrens without someone to check up, because that's unlikely to cause too much problems, and this is one of the few places there aren't too many cameras. She's not in the best of ways as she tries to steady herself and continue to limp, most painfully, back to the van.
«Plot» Posh says, "Posh takes D, damped to 9 boxes physical + 1 stun."
«Plot» Posh says, "Sadly, I did not."
Seeing as he is now carrying a few things and Posh's little battletac indicator is not green across the board, Senshi will collect her up as well to drag around the corner into cover. It's not a difficult task, she is light in comparison, but it is handled in a very rapid manner.

The ork, who appeared to be the only organizing force among the group, collapses under the rain of blows from Feather in the truck, allowing her a chance to steal his sunglasses or something, and get off. Meanwhile, the wounded one who got a shot off Posh seems to lose his nerve, cowering for full cover under the armored edge as the gangers in their trucks, still having lost no one dead…and in fact, amazingly, nobody has been killed so far in the entire operation!
With the truck receding in the distance, and Senshi helping to clear everything up, and to help a rather badly wounded Posh to the van.
There Prey awaits with the cases. "Don't forget," she says. "You owe me. Big."
Posh chuckles around as she looks at the cases, and then at Senshi and Feather. "Damn right," she says. "I owe you all."
«Plot» Posh says, "If people want any more poses for the log, I can put them in, but I'm happy to call that an end for the plot part. Certainly aftermaths and such are important. Though a Biotech roll from Krieg/Senshi would be lovely. :)"

Posh gives a grateful smile to Senshi as she feels the results of his skillful efforts, forgetting, in the drug-induced haze that he's not a flesh and blood member of the crew. But a member of the crew he is all the same. She laughs as she glances over and sees his fedora. "Thanks Senshi," she says.
"I'll have to visit Lost after this too," she says. "I'll be right as rain, soon enough." She grins, a soft wave to Prey as she hops out as Feather hops in, and the van slides off.
