Synopsis: Argos steals some files, after one blows up in his face.

«Plot» Simon says, "Ok, going to need consent but this should be simple. Its going to be mainly a teaching tool for myself, as well as earning some cash and karma."

Once again you recieve a call about a job, it shouldn't be too difficult a task, and in fact its got the same jay as last time. The magic man with the magic mouse in the magic club by the normal fish tank. Meet him to find out the details if you are intersted.

Argos certainly liked work that was literally right up his alley like this. So often he gets called on to do things he didn't really train for, and had to branch out… if he ever got called that is. Still, he gets on some decent clothes and heads back to the club, glancing around briefly before heading towards the table. "Hello again, omae. Been doing alright?"

Simon is sitting at the table by the fish tank. Once again the little mouse sits calmly on his shoulder, despite the crowds or anything going on around them it never seems to get startled. Simon nods as you arrive and smiles. "I'm doing well, the last time we met turned out so well I thought I'd call on you again." He gestures to a chair across from him.

Argos chuckles and takes the offered seat, leaning back. "Yeah, that was a rather surprising system… they put in some nice traps. Still, wasn't to difficult… so what can I do for you today?"

Simon brings out a pocsec, with a site already showing on the screen. "Xanadu Research Labs is a magical research facility, they should have some rather nice spell formula I'm looking for." He pulls out a chip, and lays it down. "This chip has a list of the spells I'm looking for and thier base formula, all you have to do is get at least a 75 percent match on the formula in the server, and you should find thier more advanced version of these spells. The higher rated spells should contain almost identical formula like mine, but with more additions. If you find any files that match my formula, that means you found thier formula. Easy enough?"

Simon nods "Exactly, hermetic formulas use many of the same basic concepts. Think of it like molocule diagrams. You can arrange the elements in various patterns, but the combination of two hydrogen and one oxygen makes water. So as long as the files have as close to that formula as I gave you, it should have a full copy. If not, well my loss. I plan to sell the copies of the files, so I'm going to offer you twenty for this. Sound fair?"

Argos nods softly at that as he takes the chip… and slides some hair out of the way before slotting it right into his skull to 'read'. "Right, I'll do what I can. Hopefully I don't drek it up to much, as I don't know as much about magic as I probably should…" Especially considering his engaged to a mage!

Simon smiles "You should do fine, your probably going to find more than one file, so bring me as much as you feel safe taking."

Argos nods and chuckles a bit at that. "Well, I've got plenty of memory, so hopefully I can find a good bit for ya. There a time limit on this, or do I have time to do this as carefully as I can?"

Simon shakes his head. "No time limit, take it nice and easy. The security should be moderate, but I don't expect it will be anything you can't handle."

Argos nods and looks at the site again before moving to stand. "Alright then, I'll contact you as soon as I have what you're after. Hopefully exactly what you're after if we're lucky, eh?"

Simon nods and smiles. "If I believed in gods or things like that I'd pray for you, instead, I'll just wish you luck." The mouse waves too as you stand up and prepare to depart.

Argos chuckles and heads out. Next stop is his apartment in Mountain Hills as he sets his stuff up. Here's hoping that this won't be to difficult to find…

Argos jacks into his deck… and his body slumps a bit as he feels that 'thrill' of transitioning immeadiatly to the Matrix. Mages can talk about their magic and astral all they like, but this? Nothing can feel as good as this, becoming one with the all powerful network. He sets to work immediatly, going through a satellite, and then connection to the Denver RTG and the local LTG to get to the host. Fake passcode brought up… and he's in.

The host for today is a standard corporate host. Its an research facility, but focused on magic, so they tend to not have the high end tech support. This means its standard icons for the greeter to the server, as well as just a series of buildings making up the host itself, or hosts probably.

There are three files that match the formula you are looking for.

Argos smiles as he finds three of the files so quickly. Having these formula was pretty useful… he does a quick check to see how many he's supposed to find… and then heads ofver to find those three.

The file you were given has four different formula, so these files should have at least those formula and possibly more.

As you reach for the file, ready to move it to your storage memory, you see a hiss of something grey, it smokes for just a second and then you see its a fuse. BOOM! The bomb goes off in your face, the file is unharmed, but you on the other hand…

Argos blinks a bit at that fuse sounding, and reels back from the blast. Thankfully his armor take the blow for him and he lets out a relieved breath. "Fragging rookie mistake… I'm losing my edge…" He frowns and analyzes the file to locate that pesky thing so he can defuse it.

The bomb appears as a pile of dynamite, with a long fuze. You try to cut the fuze, but it just grows back again. Apparently that didn't work.

Argos defuses the first file after a little work, corrupting its code to keep it from going boom on him again… then he downloads the file. Ok, that's one down… now for the next. Just to be safe, he scans it and… well damn, they like these bombs…

As you download the file, you spot something coming towards you. Its a robed figure with a wand in its hand, it starts to raise the wand to point at you.

Argos glances over as he sees the icon coming to him. Great, knew it wouldn't be long… his spear materializes and he steps forward to skewer the pesky ice, corruping its code and crashing it before he 'absorbs' it to keep it from alerting the system more. "Ok, back to work…"

The file downloads easily, and now you have all three of the files you found.

Argos lets out a soft sigh as he gets those three files. Now then, one more… see if he can find it anywhere. He briefly pulls up the data from the chip and tries to do a search on that final one. See if he can get this done before anything else tries to blow up on him!

There are no more files that match your information. It turns out the files you have have multiple formula, and between the three it covers all the requirements.

Argos frowns as his search quickly turns up nothing. Well… three files, hopefully its what his client is after. If not… well, he can always try again… unless his client has a short temper and tries to fry him. Time to go!

You manage to leave the host and erase most of your trail. All except a bomb and crashed IC left behind to show something happened there.

«Plot» Argos says, "Argos will now call up 'Johnson' and let him know he's got some files for him."

Simon answers the call, and is willing to meet again at the lunar nocturne to go over the files and pay for them. He is there waiting, perhaps he hangs out here alot, and once again, the mouse is on the shoulder of the man.

Argos returns to the club, glancing around one more before heading to the table, sitting opposite of the man. "Here you are, hope this is what you were after." He sets down the chip and slides it towards the man.

Simon takes the chip, then puts it in his pocsec. He spends a minute looking over the information and then smiles. "Yes, everything is here and more." He pulls out a credstick and lays it on the table. "Twenty five, since you did so well getting the extra information in here."

Argos smiles as he takes the credstick and pockets it. Thank you math SPU for making those percentages so easy to calculate! "Quicker then doing the research youself anyway, right?" He smiles and pulls out a pack of cigarettes, lighting one. "There are a few green boys and girls coming to me of late. If its alright with you, might play fixer and send one or two of them to you in the future to get their feet wet."

Simon nods "I suppose I might be able to find something for them, though if they are green I do hope they dont get caught and betray me in some way. Its always a risk when dealing with amatures."

Argos chuckles and shrugs a bit at that. "Well, I'm sure you can keep them from pointing the finger at you, 'Mr. Johnson'. Still, they do something stupid like that, they won't last a week in the shadows."

Simon shrugs "Alot of folks let thier friends carry them along, and only realize too late that they are incapable of flying solo. But, enough of that, thank you for your work, I need to get copies of this made so I can make a little profit myself."

Argos nods and moves to stand. "Sounds good. For now, I'll handle whatever you need done. I'm not about to vouch for anyone I'm not sure of anyway." He smiles and gives a slight wave before heading out.
