Synopsis: A celebrity sighting at the Red Rock Diner ends up in a fight for Pyre's life!
Date: July 1, 2070

Red Rock Diner
This railroad-car style diner is a classic, over 100 years old and lovingly maintained. The floor tiles are striking, black and white checkerboard pattern softly reflected in the textured
stainless steel ceiling above. The room is long and narrow, the high-backed booths upholstered in deep blue wipe-clean vinyl, the antique formica tables done in a salmon pink to match the enamel
detailing on the walls.

Everywhere, stainless steel and chrome gleam from regular polishing, and the place is somewhat dimly lit by small frosted glass lamps over each table, save for the long lunch counter that
is highlighted by the only ceiling lights. The stools at the lunch counter offer a view into the small kitchen, where two or three cooks are always present. All the employees, waitresses to
busboys, share a noticeable physical resemblance, down to the huge, middle aged troll usually busy at the grill.

The diner is almost always noisy, as both neo-bluegrass and classic country-and-western tunes blare from a radio in the kitchen, where the cooks frequently sing along with varying degrees
of musical accuracy. It's a place where privacy is found simply because there's too much bustle to overhear a single conversation; where the smile on the face of your waitress is genuine and
breakfast is served 24 hours a day.

"I guess I am", Andi says to Chaz, gesturing at the seat across from her own.

Smoke slips in quietly with a small knapsack over one shoulder. He's got an unlit cigarette sticking out of the corner of his mouth and a bit of a grin on the rest of his lips. He holds up
a single pointer finger to Vera and moves toward the booth he always chooses.

Chaz is dressed up as an Aussie, rather than his usual elfishness, even going so far as to speak in an Aussie accent and using bits of their slang. At Watson's comment, he just smirks, shrugging
lightly as he walks over to Andi's table, sliding down to join her.

Watson is sitting at the countertop, finishing a plate of eggs that she must have let her hair get into. She just recently zinged Chaz, who is in disguise but noone seems to have caught it. Chaz
has gone to sit with Andi, the sexy asian woman at a booth. Smoke has recently entered and claimed himself his usual booth.

A pair of Knight Errant Officers, off duty, enter and take a seat a booth.

Andi, done up as the jap-elf-girl, leans forward in her seat to mutter quietly at Chaz, before sitting back again to lift and sip at her cup of soykaf. As she does, she lifts one leg and
crosses one knee over the other.

Shirt not tucked in and some left side bed head tells the tale of having just gotten up and left the house quickly. He seems to be in an excited mood for some reason and unshoulders the
small knapsack in the booth next to him. He looks around for Vera and the coffee that he needs, fumbling for a lighter to start his smoking. He flicks the old knock-off Zippo to life and inhales
deeply. The addiction satisfies itself quickly. He glances around, noticing the Aussie and the oriental elven woman at one table and the pretty Watson who he was introduced to one time before.

The radio of one of the KE officers chirps and he leans in to listen. He and the other officer exchange nods and sighs before standing and grumbling extra duties and celebrities. They
file out without ordering, apologies half heartedly tossed over their shoulders to Vera.

A small group of sanitation workers take a booth, placing an order with Vera.

Chaz hmmms, watching the officers leaving. "That's the problem with being unionized."

Watson sniifs and looks over her shouldr, a fresh refill of soykaff in her trembling hands. She watches the officers leave, looking a bit pleased at that. "Buh-buh-bet that Mariah Mercuriel…
guh-guh-got herself another.. duh-duh-DUI."

Andi glances up, too, as the officers leave, but then pays them no more mind, turning back to her little quiet and private conversation with Chaz. She does hold up her all but empty cup of
soykaf, though, on catching Vera's eye, to silently ask for a refill.

Smoke takes a drag and peers at the officers leaving. He looks over at Watson…"Who is that? Famous drinking type person?" His eyes blink away some of the sleepiness.
"I thought she was doing a gig at the Weekday Eclipse, that cub run by Perianwyr," Chaz offers idly before grinning at Smoke's comment and then turning back to his conversation.

Watson looks over her shoulder at Smoke. Her eyes flash with recognition but she doesn't mention it. "You know… guh-guh-got the metallic skin… duh-duh-doesn't realize she's past her puh-puh-
prime?" She sniffs then shrugs. "Wuh-wuh-whatever. I'm suh-suh-sure it'll be in the puh-puh-papers tomorrow."

"… and who the drek don't knwo who /she/ is, anyway? What rock you been living under?", Andi comments aloud, directing the last part Smoke's way, one eyebrow arched up. She seems to lack any sort of accent (other than 'born and raised American', that is) as she speaks, despite her clearly asian/oriental appearance. She, too, then turns back to her chat with Chaz.

Vera bustles over to refill your drinks.

Vera heads over to fill Andi's cup, as she starts to pour the molten liquid into her cup her head raises as someone enters the doors. She is so amazed at who she sees that the cup overflows
onto Andi's hand. She curses silently and grabs a rag, apologizing to Andi while she watches the new people in her restaurant.

The door to the Red Rock opens and in walks two definite corp razors in sheeps clothing. The two pros are wearing immaculate armani and have definite bulges in the right places. As they nod
to each other and take up standard cover positions, the door opens again and in walks Corporate Loyalty Hour star David Ping.

Ping walks in, standard issue smile in tact and dressed in his usual suit with an overcoat to keep off the weather.

Ping walks over to Vera and smiles, "Hello Vera, its been forever it seems, can you set me up with the usual for old times sake?"

Smoke looks over at Andi, "Well it is a colorful rock, with lots of holes and things hidden. There's a woman in there too that takes up some of my time with drama. Sometimes I miss out on
normal life." He grins.

"OW!", calls out Andi as she gets up otu of her chair as hot kaf spills on her hand, trying to avoid having it spill into more of her. Shaking her glove-covered hand to get the kaf off it
quickly, she says, "Damn glad I'm wearing my gloves… that woulda really frakkin hurt!"

Watson is suddenly on edge. Andi's upset and complaining, which does her nerves no good. And then the corporate razors walk in, dripping with danger. But, since she's done nothing wrong, she just
rolls her neck around, cracking it loudly and watches Andi try and cope with the spill. But she doesn't try to help either.

Ping smiles to Andi and then frowns slightly, "Oh was that my fault, my definite apologies miss.." He turns back to Vera who is still a little shell shocked. Vera just nods to David before
turning and putting in an order. Apparently she does know his order by heart, almost as an after thought she says, "Good to see you again David…been a while.."

Ping smiles and leans on the counter, the razors arent even there to him anymore by now. He looks around at the room and takes in the unusual group and heads to the sanitation workers in
the booth. He stops and exchanges pleasantries with the two blue collar men, dropping a few bills of corporate script on the table to pay for their food. He then heads back to the counter to await
his food.

At the entry of the newcomers and then the spilled coffee, Chaz blinks. He mutters lightly to himself, shaking his head, though he keeps his eyes on the crowd.

Chaz mutters to Andi, "Well, … … … going … … interesting."

Andi, apparently being ignored by Vera with David Ping in the place, takes the few steps needed to get to the counter. There, she snatches a wad of napkins from the dispenser to get back to
her table to pretty much throw some of them down on the spill while she uses the others to clean off her chair so that she can sit back down. She ignored Ping's apology, too.

Watson sniffs and pushes herself just to the right a little bit so Mr. Ping can crowd in at the counter. She is holding her coffee in trembling hands, trying to be cool in the presence of someone
who just reeks of money and power.

Smoke glances at the razors and the nicely dressed man for just a moment and then takes a drag on his cigarette, going back to looking at the things he's pulling out of his bag. He blows
the smoke staright up into the ventilation system. One hand slips into this knapsack and pulls out a small glass rod, he slips it beneath his thigh.

Vera bustles over to refill your drinks.

At her table, as she once more quietly converses with Chaz, Andi turns her head as she speaks, to push away her hair to show something behind one of her ears to Chaz - Chaz, and anyone who makes a point to /really look/ as she does this, can see a puckered circular scar from which no hair grows, about a quarter-inch in diameter. It's clearly a bullet scar, healed, but still fairly
'new'.

Chaz reviews the scar for a moment before glancing over to the suit, clicking his enhanced senses on.

Ping nods his thanks to Watson as she makes room for him at the counter. He turns to the two razors and opens his mouth as if to ask them something and then closes it. He considers and then asks anyway, "Thing 1 and Thing 2, do either of you require food? Vera makes a mean Cuban!" He smiles and then cocks an ear as if waiting for a response. When none comes he chuckles and shakes his head. "Figures.."

Ping turns to Watson and attempts to engage her in speech, "Hello citizen, Im David…" He turns to look at the door as Dalton enters. There he is David Ping, standing at the bar waiting
for food. The two razors in the restaurant in cover positions are easily seen as well. Ping nods to Dalton with a welcome plastic smile on his face before turning back to Watson.

An old man at the lunch counter reads a scream sheet, complaining bitterly about politics.

Dalton arches a brow in curiousity as he gets a nod from a suit, his reaction is one of surprise that the man even bothered to look at him. He slips his gaze into the astral, watching the suit
for a few seconds before moving from his position just at the door.

Watson looks up nervously at Ping, her face blushing a little bit. "Mr… duh-duh-David…" she says softly. "I'm… nuh-nuh-not called 'citizen'. I'm called suh-suh-Sarah."

«Auto-Judge[]» Dalton (#8435) rolls Intelligence vs TN 5 (to Rush) for "Assessing Mr. Ping, trying to penetrate masking if he has it.":

Smoke pulls a tattered paper notebook out of his knapsack and begins flipping through pages of sketches. His knife-sharpened pencil is pulled out next as he flips to a blank page and begins
drawing. His peripheral vision is picking up watson and she becomes the subject for his doodling. This also allows him to focus on the events transpiring in the room. Vera scoots by and fills up
his coffee and he whispers a polite, "Thank you."

Andi sits at a small table with Chaz, chatting with him. Crossing one leg over the other, at the knee, she picks up her (overfilled!) cup of soykaf, carefully lifting it to take a sip from
it before setting it, carefully, back down.

A small grease fire flares up the kitchen, which Mel responds to by beating it with a frying pan. Oddly, it works.

DING! Ping's order is apparently up and Vera heads to the counter to get it. She gets in an argument with Mel about the fire for a moment as she turns with the take out container of food.

Ping smiles and pulls out a stack of corporate script in a gold money clip. He pulls out several bills more than the tab should be and hands them to Vera. He smiles that million dollar
smile and turns to head towards the door with his dinner in hand.

He waves and shakes hands with people as he heads out, "Well enjoy the wonderful fare of this establishment on behalf of the Corporate Loyalty Hour!" Apparently he paid the bill for the
entire restaurant…

The two razors heighten their awareness, knowing if something happens, this will be the time. Their chromed eye sockets scan back and forth, hands under jackets gripping concealed death.

A bigrig rumbles past the diner, shaking the cutlery as it passes.

Andi keeps chatting, quietly of course, with Chaz at theri table… then looks up as Ping starts to head out.

Dalton reaches into a pocket and pulls out a pocsec, he scans it for a moment, then presses a few buttons. He slides the pocsec back into his pocket, then turns to exit the resturant, stepping
outside, and starting to walk down the street and out of sight.

Watson sniffs and leans b ack to be more upright as Ping and his guards leave. She lets out an audible breath, then says to noone in particular. "Who the fuh-fuh-fuck -was- that guy?"

Smoke tilts his head a little, the pencil moving as it captures Watson's basic shape at the counter. He arches an eyebrow because the shape is fairly nice. He sits back in the booth and
glances fully at her. Setting the pencil down he takes a drink of the fresh coffee. As the cup is put to his lips he looks at the razorsuits and the fancy man again. They seem to be leaving. He
assenses the man, to remember his astral signature.

Dalton pushes open the door to leave, warm savory air mixing with the smells of the street.
Dalton has left.

Ping pauses and sets his dinner down on the table. Both of the razors move towards you but Ping raises a hand and its as if they hit a brick wall. "Its alright gentlemen, part of the price
of doing business." He smiles and takes the pocsec from Chaz, then signs the screen digitally as requested.

Turning he looks to Andi and blinks, "Oh my madame, I am overcome." He smiles and produces a black marker from no-where and signs her breast with a slight show of modesty as his face
reddens slightly. He takes the marker and places it into her cleavage, whispering something to her close to her ear before smiling at her and collecting his dinner once more. He heads toward the
door once more…

"duh-duh-Did this guy tour with Concrete Dreams or suh-suh-something?" Watson mutters discreetly at the bar. "Wuh-wuh-why's he signing tits now?"

Chaz carefully takes the pocket computer, holding it by the edges, smiling happily. "Thank you sir, thank you," he gushes happily before looking at Andi getting herself signed. He just rolls his
eyes at that and starts to move back to his table. "Can't even go one day without throwing herself at everyone who throws cash around."

Smoke shifts his gaze back to the mundane and they drift back to Watson. He takes another drink of coffee and sets the cup down, picking up the pencil and starting to work on the details
for his picture of the elven woman. He slouches over the notebook, arm holding the cigarette almost guarding the work from casual viewers. He takes a quick drag on the cigarette while he works,
frowning because he got the proportions wrong again and the woman's butt looks lop-sided.

Andi makes a show of giggling… even bouncing on her tippy-toes a little after he's signed her skin, then sits back down, daintily plucking the marker out from where Ping left it…
tucking it away into a pocket. She even takes a moment to 'blow a kiss' Ping's way as she sits back down. "At least /some/ guys know how to treat a gal", she says to 'Petey' - what she called Chaz,
a moment ago.

Ping collects his escort and heads out the door into the Red Rock night.

You push open the door to leave, warm savory air mixing with the smells of the street.

Havana Blvd. and Mississippi Ave.

The intersection of Havana Blvd. and Mississippi Ave. is a less than gentle transition from residential in the south, to commercial in the north. This neighborhood caters to the sevices
needed by the residents of the homes to the south. Its common to see all the basic necessities of residential life address by these businesses; laundromats, gas stations, used car salesmen, fast
food chains and a couple of bank ATM's can be found quite readily.

The Lone Star ambush is set as David Ping exits the restaurant. As he steps out onto the pavement, he and his bodyguards disappear. The two elementals move to pick him up.

From the two other mages, arcane energy warps the reality of the astral realm before ripping into the real. They strike Pyre, one slamming into her from the side, dropping her to the
ground. A small trickle of blood escapes her nose as she is hit from the other side with a stun bolt. Again she is hit hard, her body almost curving into a U shape from the force of the arcane
bolt. As she drops unconscious, the other elemental moves to pick up her unconscious form.

Dalton growls as Pyre is taken by the ambush, as soon as his reaction speed kicks in, he raises an invisible hand towards the girl being picked up by the razorboy. He focuses his mind to hone
his edge wielding mana, and his black cloak and hood cover his features as he casts the spell. Suddenly Pyre is lifted away from the razor, moving into the air straight up for 17 Meters. (Base

The one called Thing 2 by Ping in the restaurant fires at the retreating form of Pyre as she flies through the air. His snap aim is affected by his surprise at other players on the chess
board. He misses the body by a mile and as discretion is the better part of valor and she isnt his responsibility he retreats.

Dalton lifts Pyre up into the air, then leaps off the resturante into the air himself "Speed me and Pyre up my friend." he says quickly to his City Spirit, and then feels as suddenly his speed
increases, he brings Pyre next to him so he can hold her, and zooms off towards the warrens, heading to an empty building and landing on top. Then waiting to see if there are any signs of pursuit
on the astral plane.

«Plot» Back Inside the Diner…

Smoke is basically head bobbing in his booth all excited about his food. Next he slops some honey from the fat bear looking container onto the cakes. He glances at the Aussie, "Oh I think
that is funny…" He head bobs some more letting the comment just flow over him.

Andi can't help but laugh softly at Chaz's comment about Rosie Palms. "How're you so sure about that? That how you handle things?", she asks of him, jokingly.

Chaz glances to Andi, shaking his head. "I usually prefer someone else to handle it for me, but that's neither here nor there."

Andi wags a finger Chaz's way again, without saying a thing.

His curiosity peaked by the celebrity as well as his paranoia oveer his bike, Smoke watches outside as David Ping exits. The celebrity steps out the door just as Pyre approaches the
doorway. Smoke see's Ping disappear from sight just as Pyre is rocked by two stunbolts from above the restaurant. Could Ping have been the target, its entirely possible. One bolt hits Pyre in the
side, slamming her to the ground, a trickle of blood coming from her nose. The second bolt almost hits at the same time, bending her body at the waist into a U shape as she collapses into
unconsciousness.

One of Ping's two guards races to her side and scoops her up, heading to cover. As he moves she is ripped from his shoulder and levitates through the air and out of sight. The razor is
taken by surprise and attempts to run after her as gunfire rips into the afternoon from out of sight of the window.

Redline Heard the news and I started leaving, But stopped when others enterd and got out of their way. Is now standing focused off to the side.

The sudden action sends Andi into motion. She kicks over the table next to which she stands, sending what little coffee's left in her cup spilling onto the floor as she ducks down behind
the little cover she's managed to create for herself by knocking the table over. One of her hands goes into her jacket… but doesn't come back out right away, of course.

A Lone Star Patrol Car goes screaming down the street, lights blazing. He's got somewhere to be. Arn't you glad you're not there?

Smoke drops his fork and shoves the notebook and tarot box into his knapsack. He shoulders the bag and flips a was of scrip on the table, darting toward the door. He recognized the woman
that went down. It is instinct for him to try to go help.

Out of the doorway the bullets rip to the sound of the beat as Chaz looks towards the table and then steps towards the doorway, looking around as he tries to get a better look at what is going on.

Outside the doorway, the area goes quiet. That quiet after a tornado, ultimate violence's void filled by peace. The two KE off duty officers have taken cover at the door. They look at Chaz
and nod back towards the interior of the restaurant. "You better take cover sir.." The nod to each other and step out onto the street, sidearms are pulled and held at the ready. The sound of sirens
appears to enter the silence and announce the approach of the cavalry.

Redline moves further back into the room, watching the door from the cover of a booth, with his right hand at the edge of his duster, waiting, focused.

Smoke having already started moving, keeps doing so to the door where the officers were. He gives a shrug to the Aussie and then stretches his neck a little to the side taking a dep breath.
He actually follows them outside, putting a look of confusion on his face.

Andi peeks up over the edge of the table… then gets to her feet to move over to where Chaz is. "We … oughta head out, doncha think?", she says to him.
