Book It

GM: Posh (Vera)
Players: Abe, Cain, Luck, Miyo, Posh (Vera), Warden
Synopsis: Miyo hires Posh, who arranges for Luck, Abel, Cain, and Warden, to retriever her library from the folks who's taken everything from her. They assault the convoy, fight off assassination attempts on the fox, and manage to make away with at least the library, a hidden bearer bond (split among the non gear awarded players) and a shiny new SUV stolen from the convoy. Ain't life grand?
Date: 12/13/2074

The Cybered Arms is in one of the 'safer' parts of the 'Rens,' but everyone here has the kind of SIN that can get them in and out no problem, through the gates that are actually rather nearby the rather famed street sam bar.

Those who might know Posh, or recognize her from her description, can see her sitting in a corner booth daring to go red hair out, even though things have been a little high on the heat lately.

The smoke curls up and the spilled bear smells in the rather dingy bar, but the low raucous noise combined with the hum from the white noise generator buzzing at the booth near where Posh stands rather invitingly, a bottle of synthahol and a half dozen glasses on the table, an ice bucket. A few bottles of soda from the bar for mixers.

She smiles at the fox who's with her, already seated at the booth, the rather eye-catching, difficult to deny her cuteness fox with the big bushy tail and large ears making Posh look a little nervous, as if she's trying to see if too many stares are being drawn.

Posh is less so, but both of them are to some extent bright and shiny standouts in what is otherwise a rather grungy case. At least Posh has some rips in her jacket and dust on her boots, but when she looks around a touch nervously, the effect is more Hot Topic than hardass.

Miyo is the fox in question, and is indeed, quite eye-catching and cute, but that is not really integral to the impending mission - not directly, at least - and though Posh may look nervous, Miyo is not quite as nervous, or at least not as visibily so. Perhaps its the inexperience. "So, you found some good people for this, yeah?"

Two men step into the cybered arms, dressed in big coats. One with a pair of sunglasses and the other with a dark baseball cap. The duo have dufflebags and give Posh a quick solid nod before slipping into the booth together. Once in the booth and inside the white noise generator the one with the hat says, "Shit. A straight up Cyberfurry." He was keeping a curious eye on this one, that was for sure.

To 'kick in the door' is a phrase that was coined many a year ago, to describe someone barging into a room with intent on killing the monsters and looting the treasures within. And while Luck surely isn't going to kill everyone in the room - though perhaps that's not for lack of ability, considering her muscular form - the Oni strides in with the same expression on her face as if she had just scored a payday. Why? Because she was called by Posh, and Posh always gives good jobs. "Hoi, red, how's it hangin'?" A friendly wave towards Posh, the woman passes by Abel and Cain, not realizing who they are, wanting to get over towards her Elf compatriot in a hurry. "Good to see you!"

«Exterior - Rooftops — the 'Rens'»

'Your destination is two hundred feet ahead..'

A quick movement presses his gloved fingertips against the wireless plug in his head canceling the wireless connection to the computer in his pocket which quiets the voice in his head allowing Warden's augmented senses to move to the forefront of his consciousness.

A dark silhouette rises against the dreary night sky..

With a digital whirl pupils dilate filtering quickly between low-light and thermographic vision to assess the hidden locations of would-be assailants, "Clear." He whispers hoarsely..

..the silhouette vanishes for a moment an then re-appears against the dull neon sky before impacting atop the Cybered Arms. He rolls through the force of the impact springs upward with a militant maneuver that brings him to the edge of the rooftop. He flips off, onto the dumpster with an audible 'CLANG' and then slides into the slick concrete alleyway..

«Interior — Cybered Arms»

The bravado of Luck obfuscates his entrance and while typically he might assess the room the loud-mouth call of 'RED' brings his attention to the elf in the corner of the bar.

Protective covers spring from the implants at the side of his head and cover his eyes. Then he makes his approach. Without even a wave, the Ork in a cliche black trench coat approaches.

Cain is the second of the two like-dressed men that settles in with Posh and the furry. Luck is given a lazy salute, and the ork approaching in a trenchcoat is given a once over as well, before the man turns his gaze to Miyo. "No fooling." He mutters to his brother, giving the woman a cordial smile. "Nice… ears." He says with a bit of uncertainty. Was it kosher to compliment a furry?!

The brother with the hat nods his head lightly as he looks over the cute girl with the weird ears and tail. "Is it weird that I kinda wanna touch them? They look wierdly soft. Is that like… Crazy bioware? Or is it all plastic and steel?" Luck yelling catches his attention, smirking a bit behind his his high collar. He raises a hand in greeting, only a bit belatedly noticing the big Ork.

Miyo peers suspiciously at Abel, unsure if he is being fecicious or not. "Uhm, thanks." She nods to Cain and does seem quite pleased with the compliment. Kosher or not, Miyo was clearly happy with it. She reaches up to place her hands over her ears in a somewhat protective fashion. "T-they feel real.." She blushes slightly and leans forward. "Y-you can touch them if you like…"

Abel glances from his brother and back to the foxgirl, reaching out a bit tentatively to touch the furry ear. "Yeah. Damn… They do feel like the real thing. That's cool. Kinda creepy, but cool." He fiddles with it for a little bit more before taking his hand back. "Handles are Cain and Abel."

Warden, the Ork in the black trench coat, slows his approach as people crowd about the augmented fox-lady. The slightest movement of his head brings it somewhat aside in a look that is equal parts inquisitive and patronizing. If anyone notes his presence he flashes a fake looking smile that curls about the tusks that jut outward from his bottom lip…

…but says nothing.

The standing cherry bomb near the booth at the back smiles at Luck, bringing her in for a good old fashioned bar embrace, forearms clutching and a moment of warm stares before she turns. "Luck, these are Cain and Abel," she says. "They're a couple of new folks that I've been working with. I'll leave it to them to introduce themselves further." She grins "Cain, Abel, this is Luck, a comrade and friend." She dips her head politely to the new arrival. "And Warden, I presume," she says, her accent all high tea and finger cakes. "Please, have a seat. And a drink, if you'd like." She moves to sit down into the booth, placing a white noise generator from her bag under the table, and setting a bug scanner right next to it. "That should cover us for countersurveillance," she says. "Anyway. Our foxy friend here has informed me that there's an object of rather considerable value: her value. She mentioned, though, that her father had given her a secret hundred grand bearer bond, that had been hidden within it," she says. "The library has been stolen from her, and I've been working out ways for us to get it back," she says, pulling out her pocsec and hooks it to a small trid unit.

A small convoy of a pair of midnight blue SUVs escorting a security van, pulling out of a parking lot. "This convoy is going to be passing through a C sector for an estimated 2.4 miles of its journey on its way to the storage facility owned by those who've stolen our friend's property," she says. "We don't know exactly what its route is going to be; there are three possible paths," she says. "We can expect there to be standard private thugs defending this one - apparently, they like to keep their work in house. That's good - it'll keep heat things down if we have to get nasty, but murders in a C zone are going to still cause trouble. So I'd recommend we keep this one nonlethal at least," she says. "Since we'll probably have to go in a little hot. Unless someone has other ideas?" she asks, looking around at the group. "What are some good ways to stop a convoy in a rather not great part of town?"

Cain grins to Luck. "Hey again. Good seeing you under better circumstances." He gives Posh a bit of an amused look as she introduces them to Luck. When Posh introduces Warden, Cain gives the man a polite nod of the head, before looking to Miyo as Vera goes over details. "Nonlethals probably best, anyway." Cain agrees. "Are these guys in the know of what they've got, or is it just a moving company or some shit?"

Miyo blushes even brighter as her ear is fondled in a not-so-unpleasant fashion. "Haha… y-yeah, that was the point. They were expensive." The ears wiggle a bit in response to the contact. "And they aren't just for ornamentation, either." She grins slyly. "I'm Kit, by the way, or at least you can call me that." She then nods as Vera speaks. "Y-yeah, the books are really valuable, not just to me, but to anyone who can use magic, so its really important for me to get them back. There's a pretty good chance that there will be other things of value there as well, since the guy we're going to be stealing from is sort of a collector of sorts." Miyo then looks over at Vera. "If we can find a way to get the vehicle to stop, I'm pretty sure I can subdue any guards around."

"Warden," the Ork repeats with confirmation a slight movement of his head betraying the stiff-mechanical movement of his mechanical eyes as he assesses the others. When Posh slides into her seat he allows any others to follow before joining them with his left arm upon the table and right nestled beneath the table in his lap.

"Red lights stop convoys." Warden remarks when there is a call for ideas, "Even if they're pressing on they'll slow to make sure something bigger isn't going to T-Bone them. If you have something bigger you send it into the intersection while they've slowed down and then definately have an opportunity."

"This assumes someone can make the light red.." He smiles there.

Miyo nods at Warden. "His idea might work. If we can get them to stop and then box them in with another vehicle, they have no where to go right away and we can get a drop on them."

"I can help slow them down," says Abel." Give me a good line of sight from up top, and if I they are going kind of slowly? I can stop them. If they are moving super quickly I can slow them down considerably, and then stop them dead. After that, I might be out of commission, cause it will take a lot out of me. And if they stop at a light? I can block off escapes while the rest of the team hits the vehicles."

Luck looks back at the twins as Posh introduces them… And hmms. "Hey, uh… We've met before, I think. One-a you was injured bad." That could literally be anyone Luck has ever met. But, she turns back to Posh. "You okay? Maybe some stress. Not like you to forget stuff like that. I mean, you were there when I met 'em." A small pause. "…Nevermind. Can talk about that later, I guess. Job first." A look to Miyo, so she can sort things out for the Oni. Simplify them. "So, clarify it for me. Grimoires of magical importance. Knock out the guards, hopefully not kill 'em - though that'll let their bosses know that someone knew about the convoy. Gonna be fallout there, so we gotta be careful." A glance to Warden, eyebrow raised. Luck hadn't seen him standing there. But then, she can be oblivious. "…And maybe we get a Decker for them red lights, huh? That'll help." She turns back to Posh and Miyo, smiling. "Sounds pretty straight-forward, then. What's the catch?"

Cain nods his head and gestures at Abel, "Like he said. Unless they are cruising above highway speeds, he can stop them dead. Or at least, the first vehicle. The second might move around it." Cain shrugs. He glances to Warden curiously, then to Miyo. "Anyone good at hjacking vehicles so we can have a few to do that?

Miyo holds up a hand. "I can hijack vehicles… well, not even hijack. I can make people give them to us." She grins mischieviously. "It's… handy."

"We only need to stop the target vehicle. The others won't just… Drive off without the payload vehicle." Abel pipes in helpfully.

Posh shakes her head. "Of course," she says, smiling rather ruefully, turning to look up at Warden. "Well, I'm not sure anyone here is capable of that particular feat, unless there's someone with capabilites I don't know about." She frowns. "What about if…a wall just appeared at the right time in front of the road?" she asks.

Cain stares at Posh, and then looks to Abel. "Right." He says slowly, "I think thats the same tree Abel has been barking up."

Miyo nods. "That could work. If we had someone able to spawn an illusion or two. Chances are the goons are going to mundos so its not like they will be prepared for something like that. Heh… I'd probably freak out, too."

"A wall sounds better than a red light," Warden admits.

"Alright, I'll stop being coy… It's not an illusion. It will eb a very physical wall that they will physically crash into." Abel seems mildly amused.

Miyo hmmms… "Well… I'd rather not have them crashing, that could damage a lot of things." She then flicks her ears as she obviously gets an idea. "We should probably steal more than just the books, that way they can't be like, 'we know exactly who took them!' and then they come after me. That'd be bad."

"If we aren't going to do the wall, I have nothing else that can really stop them from driving away." He shrugs his shoulders lightly and leans back against his chair, pulling out and checking his pocsec briefly. "Anyone else have ideas? Without the wall, we have a red light."

Posh smiles thoughtfully. "Well," she says. "What if we could ensure that they were stopped, and that they couldn't attack us indiscriminately?" she asks. She looks a little closer in at the two projected SUVs, which have relatively unobtrusive little ring mounts stuck into them. "I mean, you said that you can influence people," she says to the fox. "How many people can you influence at once? Like, could you make people start to just hit each other? Make things go crazy, and then, when they're slowed, then go with the wall?" she suggests. "Anyone have any objections to this idea? It's not like we have a lot of time to plan, unfortunately, but we should have the edge. It looks like they're just regular security guys, but decently equipped."

Cain slowly rubs at his face. "That sounds like we are getting a little bit past the realm of feasible into the realm of dreams." He says to Posh. "Look, if the books are so fragile an abrupt stop is going to wreck them, we've got to approach this like that trails made of spun glass. Miyo, are you sure they are THAT easy to break? Cause aside from hoping we get really lucky they stop at a light when we want, its going to be hard to do this.'

Miyo shugs. "It's not a matter of how many, its more of a matter of how close they are to me. I imagine that I can move quite a few people around without any reaaaal difficult." She looks over at Cain. "I can't make any guarantees how their durability. They are old books. If nothing else, I suppose we could like… stage a protest and just body-block the street to stop them."

Posh shakes her head. "We don't need any more than a good handful of people, not a whole protest. They're not going to just mow people down if they're in the way, though they might ride down on someone standing in the street," she says, with a shrug. "But we'd have to have just enough to make sure they couldn't just drive around if they had to. Which is what they're supposed to do if they see a person, they're usually trained drivers and that's how ambushes happen." She shrugs. "It's your show, Foxy, we'll do it how you do it." She smiles over at Warden. "But it seems like we've got two hybrid fighters, a polearm specialist, and the twins. And yourself," she says. "You have my idea. Start confusion in the people and cars ahead of them to slow them and then use the magic wall to stop them. Then we attack."

Cain sighs softly, and glances at Abel. After a moment he looks to Miyo. "Alright. Well, if you can get them to slow down in the street, then Abel here can make sure they don't start moving again. Or give them a… 'gentler' crash."

Miyo nods. "Let's try that. If nothing else, we can follow them to their destination and finish the job there. It'd probably be best /not/ to do it that way, since there'd probably be more guards." She looks around. "We should probably get going anyway. They shouldn't be moving super fast through the city anyway."

Posh blances. "Many more," she says, nodding to Luck. "Hey, do you think Sara would take five grand just to give us a quick ride? And to leave a driver by the most likely route?" she asks. "On each of the three possible routes, it seems like they've chosen area with locked off fences. There's a few cross streets. What it really seems to mean is that we have to be flexible. Once we know which route they're taking, we'll only have a minute or two before the're at whatever intersection we can get to."

«Auto-Judge[]» Luck (#3691) has the Contact Sara Milczarek with the following information:
-----> Contact for Luck (#3691) <------
Contact Name: Sara Milczarek
Level: 1
Type: smuggler
GM Note: Racism +2 (Humans). Troll woman, age 45. Minor dislike for humans, if only because of the humanocentric Humanis Policlub.

Abel pips in, "Whatever you think is best, Kit. If you can get close enough to use your spell and get them to stop? Then it's your show. I'm not standing in the road to try and stop a convoy though. If they think that it's the ambush that is obviously is? They will likely push through. Your right though, we should get on the move if we are going to stop them. Time sensitive." He nods to Posh and begins to scoot off the bench.

Posh nods to Abel. "I know. If it were me, I'd guess that they expect her to just go after it herrself, and maybe get herself killed. This must be bait. There's no reason they'd think she'd have any shadow connections." She grins. "I suppose it's good luck she met me." She smiles. "What do you think she'd say, Luck?" she asks.

Luck shrugs a bit. "She might. Might be best if you asked her." A look to the twins. "…Eh. Might not work if you mentioned the twins and such. Y'know, describing them." A small chuckle. "She'd likely tack on half-again each." And then to Miyo. "…Maybe her, too. She's different enough that it /might/ fly. Dunno. To guess, it'd be like. A thousand each. Fifteen for the Twins and maybe fifteen for the foxy lady over here." A small grin, tiny thumbs-up to Miyo, then the Oni looks back to Posh. "So we're looking at… Say… Seventy-five hundred total, if all six of us are going to have a ride with her. Maybe seven thousand if she likes Kit here."

Miyo shakes her head. "No, no… I doubt anyone knows I'm even planning this. I doubt they even know I exist, right now. At least, that is if they don't investigate me at all. The books were mine before, then they were siezed. So, really, they aren't mine anymore. Chances are they'd suspect the seller just reneging post sell."

Posh nods. "All right," she says. "I'll want to be getting through with some hardware and EXEX for this one, so I'll pony up a grand." She smiles. "And we'll be able to meet up a Rollo's afterwards," she says, "which so far has been solid."

"You got a way to conjure that crowd without anyone seeing the chick with fox ears was at the center of it?" Cain asks Miyo curiously, looking over the woman appraisingly. "I mean otherwise seems like a sound plan." He grins to Luck, "If she don't like humans, then we can suit up and put our helmets on, and you just call us elves."

Miyo chuckles. "Well, I don't necessarily need to be at the center of it. Even so, I'd probably look like I was just part of it.

The elf shrugs at Miyo. "This one looks a bit rough. But as you say," she says. "In any case, we're getting the bearer bond," she says, rolling her eyes at Cain. "She can wear a fucking cloak, Negative Nelly," she says, with a chuckle. "And I don't think she'll play that way. If you roll up on a smuggler friend of a friend, she might think you look rather aggressive," she says.

Abel turns to look at Luck. "Spot me the cash and you can take it out of my pay."

Cain lifts a brow at Posh and Miyo, then looks to Luck. He briefly glances to Abel, then looks to Posh. "Is it normal for you guys to hire people on and expect them to pay expenses to do a job?"

Posh turns back to Cain. "Of course. You're contractors, not employees," she says. "Contractors have their own tools, and their own trucks don't they?" she asks. "We could trade our freedom for corpsins and steady jobs and uniforms, I suppose, but I don't think that's why we're doing this.

Miyo scratches at her chin. "I don't think I have enough to afford the whole ride. Maybe we should just hoof it?"

Posh looks impatient at Miyo. "Please pay attention. The truck is already underway. To be there in time, we need a ride of some sort. I don't have a truck at the moment, I'll confess. Neither does anyone else. That means we need to pay a taxi. A taxi that will be willing to take our guns. Or we could take the risk of cheaper taxies," she says, with an insouciant shrug. "Me, I'm paying for that." She glances over to Abel and Cain. "Take those chips off your shoulders, kids, and let's move out," she says, giving an apologetic smile to Luck and Warden. "All right. Shall we?" she asks.

Cain snorts softly, and gets to his feet. "Thanks sugarmomma." He says with a wink to Posh, "You are a doll. The greenhorns are new to this shit remember. This is our first real job, aside from that SNAFU at the playground."
Miyo smiles at Posh. "T-Thanks!" She gives the Elf a little nudge. "Let's go. Get all these noobies runnin' and stuff."

"Sorry, Posh. None of this shit's ever been explained to us." He leans against the side of the booth. "Thanks, by the way. It can come out of our payment for the job." He looks ready to go, his bag already shouldered.

"Don't know you." Warden remarks flatly, "I'll pay-along, for now." Then he slots his credstick.

Following that Warden exits the booth first, he was the last to enter, and stalks towards the door.

«Auto-Judge[]» Warden (#12883) spends 1000 nuyen for "Smugglerz".

Posh shakes her head. "No. I never asked a question like that of someone at a meet, especially not someone I claimed to be loyal to," she says, feathers a little ruffled, but she shakes her head, and preens, and smiles. "All right," she says. "I've got a new toy I'll admit that I've been thinking of trying out," she says. "As soon as you've got that van stopped, I can guarantee it won't be moving again. Then we go to single-shot or burst weapons only. No grenades or full auto insanity. Aside from my first shot to take out the van's engine, everyone's on gel," she says. "Does that sound good to everyone?"

She turns to Warden, a little toughtfully. "What do you think you can do best?" she says. "I think we might have to face some heavy combat. These guys are likely to be well-armed, probably bayonets," she says. "I'll need you and Luck to take on any close range threats. And especially keep any attention off the mages." She smiles, perhaps a little apologetically at Cain and Abel. "Let's do this, everyone. Sara should have cars outside soon, and we should be able to find which route we'll be in and be set up within twenty minutes. Does anyone have any last concerns?" she asks, as the plan finally seems to have taken shape.

«Plot» Posh says, "A last opportunity for poses, suggests, or knowledged is being offered. Then, a GMpose will follow."

Warden stands at the edge of the curb just outside 'the Cyber Arms'. Canting his head slightly to peer down the street he rocks gently to his heels and then back to his toes with the lean impatience of an alley-cat.

As Posh comes to join him he looks down the other end of the street, "I'll keep them covered." He assures her and then relaxes a bit at his shoulders to turn partially around and look at Luck the movement of his eyes hidden beneath the dark protective covers which conceal his eyes.

"Gruff? Want to hear a joke." He asks and then proceeds dryly, "Why did Mozart kill all his chickens?" He asks her allowing for a beat of silence, "Because when he asked him who the best composer was all they said was 'Bach. Bach. Bach."

"Now, are we friends?" He asks with a sneer pulling at the side of his mouth.

Abel lets out a chuckles and a shake of his head before leaning into towards Cain and whispering softly, "The fuck is Mozart?" Not a lot of the classics in the Warrens, it seems.

Luck finds herself smiling at the joke, and claps the man on the back. "Yep, we're good." She chuckles to herself, moving forward, pulling an electronic cigarette from her pocket to puff on. "Gruff ain't bad. Just… Gruff. Better'n bein' an asshole. So, good job there." Puff, puff. And she's off towards where they're supposed to go. Because they're on a tight schedule, or something.

Posh gives a smile to the others, adjusting her wrap around herself as she waits for the car. "Well, it's good that I came strapped for the Warrens, then," she says, as everyone picks up their weapons on the way out. "And we'll probably definitely need your submachine and shotgun," she says. "All right," she says, revealing a rig that she keeps under her short jacket, to which she's added a wicked looking black machine pistol. "This'll be what I'll use to take down the van," she says. "Everyone else, we should all load gel." She nods. "Now, since I'm going to destroy the van's engine, the plan's going to be to steal one of the other vehicles to make our getaway. Cain, you're the only one of us who can be assured of staying out of sight, if I'm not mistaken, therefore I nominate you to be the extra one, if you don't mind me saying so, and we can arrange for a separate pickup, or you can make your own way."

It seems, once everyone is in place, that the convoy is taking the middle of the three paths. It's not a great part of town but there are enough people milling around, between going to work or going to get coffee, or getting their cars fixed or visiting the nearby gun store or check cashing spot. They're behind fences, except for two major walking pathways with a good number of people, and then cars on the wide two-lane.

1 2 3 3 3 4 7 9 = 7 Successes

«Plot» Cain says, "No damage. Cain is invisible with 5 successes."

Cain, having successfully made himself invisible, shed his large greatcoat into the dufflebag he wears, and removed the helmet from wthin. After strapping the Ares HD-2 helmet to his head, the man in the FFBA stays near Miyo in the streets, providing some covert cover as he waits patiently off to the side for the proverbial shit to hit the fan.

Miyo spent much of the ride fidgetting nervously, but when the time came, the foxgal was quite… steady. She waits for the time that she needs to act, the time that the van would be appearing. She looks to Cain. "So, you may need to… watch out for me. I'm not sure how well the spell will go off, but we'll see. It could leave me pretty tired."

Cain nods to Miyo, even if he IS invisible. "I'll be your shadow." He promises.

Pose nods to Miyo. "Indeed," she says, glancing over to Luck and Warden, gripping a Savalette Guardian in one hand and that machine pistol in another. She glances over and sees a small portion of the barrier that it's easy to get cover behind, and that can be vaulted over. "Just cause as much mayhem as you can, M. Then Cain can cover you while you're hurt, Abel can build his wall to stop the van, I can take it out, and then we can handle the fight. Let's do this," she says, affirmatively, grippin' those guns - one loaded with gel, the other with ball.

Warden produces a half-sized black shotgun which he turns over to eject the over-sized magazine which he rests upon his thigh as they drive. From beneath his coat he produces another magazine which he slams into the weapon and then unlocks the folding stock so the weapon takes on a more proper size. Moving the first magazine to the pouch at the front of his utility belt he nods..

..when the doors open he bounds into the street with his coat partially overtop the scatter-gun. With quick strides he seeks a good hiding spot for the ambush.

Abel, when in the car strips down with Cain until they are both in the skintight FFBA and helmet. They were identical, except he had a shotgun strapped to the small of his back and his bag on his back, the strap across his chest. He heads out of the vehicle a few steps behind Posh, slipping into cover while keeping low. He would move so he had as good view of the street, shotgun slipping into his hand.

Commlink-Abel> Abel says, "In position."

Luck, with her own armor, looks… Quite normal, really. It hardly even looks like armor. And today she brought her telespear as well as her gloves, so there shouldn't be a problem with choices. She simply meanders along until they're at the ambush point, but then it's all business. Time to find a spot nearby, but enough within shadows that she can be out of the way. For now. Maybe like, behind a dumpster? In an alley? She'll find something, just have to improvise.

Commlink-Kit> Miyo says, "Likewise."

There's a perfect dumpster slightly moved just in front of an alley for Luck, half blocking it so she can hide behind the dumpster and just pop around. Because you win when you mix dumpsters and alleys. It's the rules.

Commlink-Luck> Luck says, "As good as it'll get for me."

Commlink-Cain> Cain says, "Ready."

A few people start to look a little closer at Posh, crouching next to a barrier and trying to hide something, and Luck, as she seems to be rummaging behind a dumpster.

"Just dropped my contact lens!" calls out Posh, rather cheerily, trying to naturally slip her machine pistols under her jacket and look like she's peeking for a contact as the convoy begins to approach.

Luck looks up from her spot, and… A frown at the guy checking at what she's doing. She glares, and while swallowing her dignity, opens the dumpster. Poor people gotta eat too, apparently. And other people shouldn't judge. Especially since… Ork. Muscular one.

The man looking at Luck shrugs and move on, muttering something about trash-digging tuskers as he quickly walks away.

Meanwhile, Miyo, among the crowd, her fox ears hooded but slightly outlined under her cloak can see the convoy approaching. She'll have to do something soon if there's going to be the kind of mayhem needed to slow the van and SUVs with traffic and people…

Miyo looks over in the direction of Cain. "Alright, wish me luck." She looks around and locates the biggest, baddest looking crowd she can find, one that is totally outside of like a Soybucks or something - lots of white chicks and their uggs and seasonal soycaff as well as their male hipster counterparts. Either way, the impending convoy would soon find themselves facing a crowd of people who have no care in the world except have suddenly found it a /great/ idea to convene and drink soycaff in the middle of the street, and if that's not enough, any attempt to dissuade them, such as honking horns or shouts from angry drivers of convoys seems to rile them up to a dangerous fury. Soycaff (their lifeblood) is suddenly thrown, and realizing their error, they 'chase' after it, only to throw themselves at parked vehicles and under wheels and such, essentially impeding the flow of traffic unless someone wants to run them over, something that is not recommended.
One might think that'd prove enough of a distraction, but no, they begin banging on the vehicle like ravenous animals, ready to tear doors off and break windows at an attempt to get in. Soycaff hysteria has arrived in Denver. Oh no!

There is one figure that seems unaffected - a man about six feet tall in a black suit who seems a little surprised - he'd already gotten quite close to Miyo. But he starts to reach inside his coat just as soon as the pandemonium starts.

Like some futuristic ghost in the shell ninja, at one moment there was no Cain, and the next there was a Cain. BRAAP! The first volley of submachine gun fire peppers the man with one of the three rounds, giving him a reason to duck his head. Cain blocks his view of Miyo with his body, and takes careful aim for the second shot. BRAAAAAP. This one drills the figure into submission, leaving him helpless on the ground as Cain backs towards Miyo, sub machine gun going around the crowd as he protects Miyo.

Commlink-Cain> Cain says, "One down!"

As the pandemonium begins to break out, a number of the vehicles slewing and people running across the road towards the fences begins to break out, the vehicles slowing down as they start to negotiate. One of the SUVs seems to be coated rather heavily and clumsily in armor, and Vera swears as she sees one of the top hatch open and a man slip down into the ring mount, fixing a dual-clip submachinegun and starting to fire gel rounds into the crowd, starting to try to clear them. It manages to make slow progress, the van behind it, and the last of the SUVs behind that, that one not bearing one of those mounts, and looking like a classically elegant version of an off-roader.

The convoy is forced to weave around a few people gelled down by the mounted machine gun, the van a little more awkward than the rest, as it approaches the area where Vera hides on one side on the barrier, near Warden, while Luck is on the other behind the dumpster.

«Plot» Abel says, "That's a Barrier of 5."

The van suddenly bumps into the edge of the barrier, coming to a complete stop. "What the…" Suddenly, the doors open on the rear SUV, and a number of hard hitters come out, two looking apparently very deadly. Seems like maybe they'd planned for trouble after all.

The man in the more heavily armored SUV scans the crowd around, looking for trouble, and the source of what's causing it, just as soon as Vera looks around.

"That gun truck sure will make this a close run thing. I don't suppose any of you have anything?" She sighs. "This machine pistol will be useless. It didn't look that heavily armored before," she says. "Hope you can find some way to cover me."

And she's off, full speed. Chica's fast.

Posh sprints out from her position on the barrier with her Micro-Uzi in one hand, Savalette in the other, focusing in on the van's engine block as she pounds pavement, hauling her full seventy kilos of elf across the pavement until she's in range she's comfortable sighting in with both hands on. Her carefully matched pistols smoke as she seems to keep both on target, heavy and light BRBRBRBRAAAAAAAAAP in a horribly unladylike sound as the twin crosshairs in her hud leave the front of the van a smoking ruin. That's one driver who decides discretion is the better part of valor; soon he's out and just trying to get the hell away from there.

The muzzle of the shotgun flares in a series of thunderous cries sending hard-impact rounds into the back of his foe shattering his ribs and fracturing two vertebrae. Lips move after the burst and then he directs his weapon high..

Abel drops the focus on the magical shield as chaos reigns on the battlefield. Civilians running wild in their own sudden insanities, bullets and gel flying through the air and bodies dropping like flies to the cacophanic war drums of gunfire.
Two more beats come from Abel as he peeks up over cover, his small shotgun raised to bear as he zeroes in on his target, sending two thick gel rounds slamming against his chest, sending him stumbling back a step in pain from the impact, but still, sadly, standing.

The man she was on before, he's been downed by Warden's gel ammunition. This leaves Luck open to dart out and tag someone else - but remember kids, no murder! So the spear is held behind her as a distraction while she runs towards the man who'd recently got knocked in the torso with gel bullets, and… Uses her left hand to crack him in the stomach. Thud. Even wounded, Posh manages to give an effective barrage of fire in the direction of the gunner, managing to even ping gel rounds from her Hi-Powers at him. The pain is excruciating, and she's far less effective than usual, but she sticks to her guns, so to speak, and this time just tries having faith in Cain's promise.

The gunner is hit badly by Warden's shot. He seems to pop down into the hatch. Soon after, the driver of the guntruck leaves, skeetering off, abandoning the unconscious operatives, the mob, the smoking van, and the dark green SUV.

«Plot» Posh says, "Combat over."

Cain quickly gets Miyo off the road, and hustles her over towards the vehicles. "Get your shit out of the van." He urges, heading towards the vehicle that they have left behind that is still operational.

Commlink-Cain> Cain says, "Lets get the stuff loaded, we don't have long til the law is here."

Abel pops up from cover and vaults the little divider wall he had been hiding behind. His weaon gets holstered as he makes a rush for the van to help unload.

Commlink-Abel> Abel says, "Roger. Someone help Posh to exfil, she looks hurt bad."

Posh slumps against the truck, looking back over at the car. "Fuuuuck," she grunts in pain. "I'm hit bad," she says. "How am I going to…to steal the car now?" she asks, stumbling her way over.

A classic mistake. Given the level of physical defenses, the van is unlocked. There are a few heavy crates of books, rather easy for Luck and the others to shift over to the van, though already there can be heard the sound of sirens in the distance. Posh coughs up a spray of blood, trying to block out her ruined shoulder as she tries to jack into the vehicle. That's a goal she's just got to hit. It's where she has to dig in deep, to try to make things happen.

As soon as the bullets stop flying, Luck puts her spear away and dashes for the truck - she can't help anyone wounded, she doesn't have magic or any knowledge of healing. But she /is/ rather strong, and can get in and get what they came here for. Over the comms, she states bluntly, "Have the package. Still stealing a vehicle, or are we simply… Just taking this one?"

Cain waits until Miyo says all of her things are out of the Van. THEN he uses his spell to see what other goodies might have been concealed or left behind, while hopefully someone else figures out how to get the truck rolling.

«Plot» Posh says, "Cain, you discover that there are a few cases of books that make up Miyo's library. That's all that's in the van, really, aside from what amounts to personal junk. You also see a big box of stuffed animals, which you could pack or leave. The bearer bond is, as promised, in with the library."

Abel spins his ass around and rushes to the front of the getaway vehicle. "Fuck. I'll try. No promises." And he takes a deep breath and does what he can, pulling out his pocsec and jacking it into the vehicle.

Abel wastes a full minute working on his pocsec, before ripping out the datajack and jamming it back in the duffel bag. "Nope. I got fucking nothing." And he stepped away.

Posh gasps out loud, as Abel is unable to make the pocsec get the SUV's termination chip. "Everyone in," she gasps out, Miyo long gone. She comms to Cain, "Get in here. Miko's got herself to the smuggler already. We've only got seconds before we'll have to evade the cops if we don't get going fast…we're already *coff* loaded up!"

"Vans clean." Cain calls as he comes over towards the group, helmet still on as the man with the submachine gun skims the crowd carefully, peeking into their 'getaway' vehicle as Warden takes a crack at it. "Fuck." He mutters, before moving in to have a look at Posh, "Yeah, yeah. I'm here. Hold still and let me look at you."

«Auto-Judge[]» Posh (#11342) rolls 6 vs TN 4 "for Miyo sterilize":

Though much of the DNA will likely be destroyed in the pandemonium of the riot, Posh will request that Miyo stay just to cast the appropriate spell as needed, and then continue her meetup with Sara's driver, while the others head off to get the vehicle scrubbed and a delivery arranged for Rollo. "I wonder if we can talk to Rollo about cleaning the reg, getting a new trans kit," she says, considering the dark green SUV. "I rather like this one…" She winces, allowing Warden to drive. "Now, Cain…in my bag. There's a Savior medkit. It's…it's bleeding edge tech. But it's only got one shot. But it's the best we've got," she says. "Good thing this is nice and comfy. But…just talk to me. Don't use it till we get to McAffrey." And then, for now…Posh fades out.

«Auto-Judge[]» Posh (#11342) rolls Etiquette + 2 vs TN 7 for "Getting through the door at Mcaffrey wounded without being noticed":

Cain nods to Vera, digging around for the first aid kit before he fishes it out. And…. then he stares at it, before looking around. "Anyone here a good medic?"

Posh shakes her head. "It…It works by itself…" She shakes her head. "A self-directing bullet plunger….and nanites…."

She manages to give the smile to the doorman, showing a brave face, though she's clearly weakened by the time she gets to the elevator with the twins and Luck, Miyo having been separated from and having said goodbye to Rollo for now.
