Arriving

There is times when Denver is a hub of action and times when the flow of actions is low. Currently the first is the case. Once again word hits the streets that some people are needed to do work that the average wage slave would never even consider in a nightmare. The word is out, that a plane with valuable freight and about a dozen passengers has been downed by some 'criminals'. As it happened in contested territory between the CAS and Aztlan, an official mission to rescue these people and the freight was denied. So you find yourself locked up in an airplane and are offered a bounty of a 100 K plus a premium of 20K should all passengers you find alive be saved.
The airplane off course is on a direct course to the area things happened and will do a very crazy thing. It will drop you with a parachute. Elena is looking unsually calm towards this. Which may wonder one or the other aboard.

Rescuing civillians, especially those that might be wounded is exactly the ballgame Alyse is up for…parachuting? Not so much. She's been looking a little tense about it to say the least. It's not that she couldn't heal herself if she botched the landing and broke a leg…it's the worry she might land on her head. Still aside from her toying with her thigh holster a lot there's no sign of it.

Leaning forward on his harness, Laz, who introduced himself to Alyse as 'Tonka", keeps his eyes closed, breathing calmly. He's either extremely relaxed or extremely stressed. He seems to be mouthing a prayer, but if someone is close enough, they'll notice he's rather repeating the names of all the passengers on the passenger manifest, preparing for having to keep a headcount, perhaps.

Elena was unusually relaxed, she then looked over to Alyse, asking the othee girl, "Afraid of the jump? How about we cheat a bit?", she then asked.

"Not exactly something i've practiced…" Alyse says evenly, although the talk 'cheating' earns a raised eyebrow
Laz @emit

The talk of cheating earns a raised brow and a smirk from Laz. He opens one eye and glances at Elena. "Who can say no to that?" he says, followed by a brief smirk. He then adjusts the goggles draped around his neck and listens.

Elena smiles, "Well, I have the levitate spell. Locking her in a tandem jump with that should not be too bad out here…", she says.

Alyse doesn't seem to like the idea of jumping at all, but it's better then nothing. Nodding her head she sighs and mutters something about landing next time and goes back to fiddling with that holster. "Lets just get this over and done with…"

"That or a Sky Brother, hey?" says Laz, "Perhaps its better for all of us to take advantage of that knowledge since we will appear as one target rather than three if anyone should happen to catch our decent?" He glances between the two women, then back at Elena. "I'd be very grateful if you could teach it to me, assuming we come back in one piece…"

Alyses wish will be granted quickly as soon the speaker from the cockpit calls out, "Make rady to go… We're approaching our target." Countdown in one minute.

"Levitation would be a very handy trick to know, i've been looking to try and find a means to learn it myself…" Alyse murmers, but then there's the issue of her being a hermatic mage. Hearing the call from the cockpit the elf does one last check on her weapons and her med gear before nodding. "Alright then…"

Elena casts her spell right at drop off time, offering the carabine of her parachute harness to the others to connect, then as all are connected, the lifts herself up, and at the order of the pilot she slowly hovers out of the airplane to slowly lower herself down to the floor, "I hope you have a realxing ride?", she asks the others as she floats down slowly like a balloon.

Alyse doesn't answer, but then she just happens to be spending the whole flight with her eyes closed trying both to relax as much as possible…and not think about how high up they probably are right now.

Holding on with one hand while being hooked and held should do the trick for Laz, and he uses the free hand to manipulate some very powerful 100x binoculars with low light and infrared, scanning the area below for anything of note…

Looking down will give a nice overview on the crashsite there is meadow looking quite idylic weren't it for the thought that there might be people down there to shoot at them. The airplane itself has been ripped into two large chunks supporting the idea it may have been downed by a missile through the large hole at the area where the vehicle broke apart.

Alyse had -slowly- opened one eye as they went along, but her usually calm and friendly face is looking rather pale right now. Even so she's making a point to look at the sky around them and not the ground below. Hopefully that means any hurtling missles that might sneak up on them she'd see

"Elena, hold this altitude, I've just seen something we need to scope out before we go lower…good thing you're going slow otherwise I would have never heard the breeze bring up the sound of what sounded like someone loading a rather large mag into a weapon."
Laz then adds, softly, "There's about thirty homosapiens down there, alive enough to give off body heat the binocs can pick up, and some of them are decidedly unfriendly…"

Elena nods and stops the decent, "Sure thing. We're like a large ball to be shot up here, though…", she says to the elf. Maybe too high to be taken as anything else but a bird, but if someone down there is well enough equipped and saw the airplane too… Well, it may be we did well not to go on parachutes, then… Those would have announced us quite nicely."

The best part about the slow decent is the decreased wind-shear that means they'd actually be able to hear each other. Catching that little breifing the elf frowns and does what she didn't want to do. She looks down. Despite going a little paler she gestures with her arm. "Maybe we should land further away, sneak up on them using the terrain?

As the Unicorn's Child slows things to provide a steady platform, Laz notices the very definitive shape of a man with a bazooka.

-No time for words-

goes through his mind as he quickly decides what to do. Between holding on, the stress of being pointed at by a bazooka and worrying about the height, he is a bit distracted, but the two caught in the footprint of his spell are left feeling like they just got slapped by Mike Tyson.

Bazooka Joe was not amused and he prove that even with a splitting headache he was quite able to hit a target. If it wasn't for Elena, who seeing that quite obvious tail of smoke comming from the warhead moving /her/ way gave a loud squeeking cry and at once dropped a considerable ammount of height to shake the missile. Luckily a dumb missile that only went in a straight line. She finally caught hte group about 25 meters above the ground from a free fall to sink quickly lower. Not really wishing to get another shot of that sort her way. Far away the missile exploded hitting the ground.

The height, the wind and the fact that they only just dodged a -missle- is quite enough to rattle Alyse, but she still manages to draw her pistol and fire two shots off his way. She's not expecting to hit anything major falling like that from that high up, but it should hopefully make him duck away

Laz snaps on his goggles, checks his LMG is nicely strapped, glances at the katana and tosses off a stunball which clears the area of insects but does nothing else….

Alyse keeps up her firing at the man who'd fired that missle at them, her plan to keep hitting or forcing him back so that he can't get off an easy second shot at them. Squeezing the trigger once, then one more she's trying more precise fire then just emptying her gun at him. Have to save some ammo for when you get to the ground.

Bazooka Joe is quite busy with the reload, as he is hit by those bullets the first only hurt due to the impact, but the second again draws blood. You hear him growls as he finally snaps the loading chamber shut with a loud 'clack'. He's ready for another shot.

Cursing under his breath, and with a quick glance at just how damn high they still are, Laz rallies for another attempt at channeling some team-saving mana in the direction of Bazooka Joe. From the grunts he emits, it is clear that this is a slightly less stressful effort but he's still throwing a lot of himself into it if his suddenly and briefly sallow face is anything to go by.

Joe just grunts this time, he feels the impact, but he has gotten worse from these guys.

"Cock," utters Laz, as he sees his last efforts not pay off in the form of a sleeping Bazookator. Trying not to lose his nerve, he hatches a new plan.

"Be with me, Wind Brother!" he hiss-whispers, his face again looking angry and sallow, but the wind does change around the floating trio—a contrarian breeze ruffling their hair as a cross wind to the updraft of their descent.

On the Ground

Elena finally landed with her teammates in the middle of the planes wreckage. She quickreleased Alyse and Laz from her parachute to look around for victims of the crash. She whispered over to Laz, do you need help with these guys? Or do you think you are up to it?", as she notes that aside from one all people present are either only lightly hurt or dead. There is a guy with a real ugly face standing a bit aside from the others. This one wearing prisoner clothes. Some of the dead wearing police uniforms.

Alyse frowns a little as she looks around, chewing her bottom lip for a moment as she notices something on the ground and points it out to the others. A ripped apart mage mask. It would probably mean more to the Shamanic then her, but it's still handy to notice

Crouching low and behind cover, Laz responds to Elena, "We're going to need all the help we can get. Can Unicorn hide us or confuse them?" he is saying when Alyse points out the mage mask. "Let's not cluster: bazookas out there and a potentially hostile mage, spread out, summon watchers to communicate," he says, starting to put some distance between him and the women.

Elena ponders then nods and heads to the next place she can get too. Her team dispersing she looks for an area to watch over the southern side of the plane.

Alyse frowns a little as she reaches out, murmering to the others before they shift too far away. "The guy in the prisoner gear is awakened and powerful….but his aura is a little odd…" she shares before she too spreads out although a bit further back then the others and always behind cover.

As he suggested, Laz whispers to the spirits, asking for their help. It's hard to hear exactly what he's saying, but soon a transluscent watchet appears, this one in the form of a one meter tall humanoid, dressed in guerrilla gear. He offers Laz a grin and awaits instructions, but Laz is busy asking for help from the spirits of the Land. And soon after a larger spirit materializes, this one looks amerind, but is also dressed as some sort of guerilla-meets-tribalwear. He stands next to Laz, sharing the boulder's cover.

Elena too conjures a watcher and a Prairie spirit, hers staying on the astral as a grassy figure.

As the explosion sets off a not insignificant prairie fire and shoots a column of smoke into the sky, Laz gives his companions a thumbs up, "He's on our side, but be careful anyway!" he says, before turning to the Prairie Spirit and preparing to ask it to perform a service.

Alyse frowns a little wondering if the man is indeed on their side, or simply on his own side and a dangerous criminal. Still, enemy of my enemy… Waiting for the others to make her move she's watching the Guerilla's and their reactions to the smoke.

Elena orders her spirit now, telling it, "Confuse anyone who makes aggressive moves against us this side of the airplane." She sees the man entering the planes tail and almost thinks she has a new case to care for, but the bullets never really hurt the man. Then he moves back and the smokes comes over. "Wow…what a move…", she says. Not too happy. But prarie fires are part of nature so this is not too bad for her. "But how do we prevent they don't crawl at us in under the cover of that smoke?", she asks over to Laz.

Taking advantage of the visual cover provided by the airplane's remains, Laz readies his LMG and leans it against the wall. As he looks around for possible exits, he also draws his katana…

As the team prepares, that guy runs up onto the tail again, then he calls out, "You want to get Beavis? Beavis will have fun!", she cries out, then he laughs almost maniacally. His next move, not unexpectedly is anothe fireball against the closest team in the south, an aimed and quite effective blast of fire.

Elena whinces as she sees that blast hit the guys, "I'm just glad he is not fighting us…", she mutters.

Alyse herself is still in cover, but she's going to try to pick the biggest weapon carrying badguy. If they're lucky enough for everyone to turn to face psycho-mage guy she'll try her own little spell.

To the north …

Having positioned himself strategically or to the best of his abilities, Laz asks the little revolutionary spirit for help: "Spirit Comrade: conceal me!" he says, while training the Ingram on one of the baddies.

BADA BADA BADA

goes the burst, but the man is on the move and jumps in the right direction, the bullets kicking up prairie dirt behind him.

There is a burst comming back like an echo, the much lighter ratatata of an SMGH fired at Laz.

Laz manages to do bullet time on that as well, stepping to the side as the airplane wreck acquires some more ventilation ports…

And another burst blasts through the grassland, this guy is either damn lucky or a pretty bastard of a shot. The result is him hitting the mark, squarely. THe mark being Laz, who is definitely not happy most likely.

The elf gets hit, hard, blood pools appearing on his arm and leg as the bullets penetrate the ballistic armour. He takes several steps back and looks around, in a bit of a daze. He looks briefly at Alyse, a very odd look of anger flashing on his face but he curses in sperethiel and turns his attention back to the bastard that shot him.

The lead storm continues, perforating the airplane, but luckily not Laz whose armour saves his hide. Some more very offensive Sperethiel swear words come from the shaman.

Giving up on the gun for now, Laz chomps down hard, those very close might hear a cracking noise, like ice breaking. "Oh Yea!" he says, managing to sling out a ball of mana at one of the groups that leaves a couple of the guys reeling.

Somehow summoning one last bit of energy, Laz throws down some additional mana in the direction of the same group of adversaries. Nothing seems to happen either to them or to Laz…

Meanwhile in the south….

Alyse narrows her eyes at one of the approaching men and focuses that same energy she uses for healing into something more distructive…but it seems to splash off him. Seeing him raise his gun she whinces and moves to duck the shot

The guy feels some pressure accumulating in his head, then fading away as the spell fails and noting Alyse gazing at him he rightly concludes that must be the offender. He then shoots a volley of bullets her way.
Due to smoke his aim rough enough though and Alyse easily manages to dodge the incomming hail of lead.

Elite 3 moving closer shoot suppressive fire at Elena, in the form of a burst her way. Due to his movement and the smoke he too misses.

And again a bullet zooms Elena's way. She again get's lucky and dodges the bullet.

Beavis meanwhile seems to lack targets on the west front. He turns around and still oblivious to any damagin effects of his wild spell casting or the bullets shot at him from all sides casts a double Fireball of quite some magnitude. How the guy can take all of this is a mirracle. He seems quite normal aside from his really ugly face. If you take aside the mad glow in his eyes. Team one and three take it much worse than that. They are actually out of the fight after that. Making a demoralized retreat.

Elena concentrates madly at the target before her, but the man is too hard to see and her best efforts fail. Luck and skill not good enough to take the man out.

There is more lead flying about. One shot hitting Elena into her armor, the other shots are missing Alyse by a wide margin, disappearing harmlessly into the grassland.

Alyse leans from her cover and tries something a little more direct, picking the closes man she pings off two shots…but doesn't seem to do much damage for it. She's gotta get a bigger gun!

Elite 4 is still angry to have missed Alyse so far and he blasts out even more ammo her way. He does however miss her by a wide margin. Luckily for the busy elf. Then Beavis does his move after he seems to have taken out anything he could see at the east front, he pulls a dual cast and on this front Team 3 disappears in a ball of flames. The surviving team members busy rolling out fire and tending for serious wounds. This leaves only team 4 left in the fight on this side. On a command of their leader the three storm ahead.

The remaining Elite fighter is now runnning, out of his cover he shoots at the elf determined to get her taken out. Seems he is a bit too eager, as he missed by a wide margin again.

Alyse frowns as the elite takes another shot at her, missing again…but the odds say he'll hit her eventually….unless she takes action. Narrowing her eyes again she focuses…and RIPS the gun out of his hand…Probably the last thing the man expected

The situation gets quite crazy now. Elite stands there with no gun in hand, but running towards the two mage women, One of his underlings simply gets too afraid after he saw Alyse rip his boss the gun out of his hands without even touching him, And Elena finally manages to get one of her spells through. Dropping Elites only follower left that has the spirits to fight on. So now Alyse and Elena have to face an angry fighter closeup.

As the northern front is beat into a hasty retreat with the help of the fire mage, Laz is able to turn his attention briefly to his surroundings inside the airplane wreck. Spotting one of the guerrillas who has made his way into the wreck and is about to attack one of his companions, the elf drops Ingy on a seat, grabs the unsheathed katana and hurries over, taking advantage of the missing roof to do an over the head strike which cuts the guerilla in half and finds the katana partly digging into the aluminimum flooring of the plane. The elf pulls it out, looking around.

A voice can be heard in everyone's mind, "Well, that was worth coming out of the sheath for…"

As the place of battle gets quiet Elena turns to the bleeding Laz. She places a hand on the mans wounds and casts her specialty. Healing magic. Her spell closing the mans wounds at once. Then she holds her concentration to keep the spell intact.

Beavis meanwhile climbs down from the planes tail, cackling and cajoling. "Woohoo! That's been fun! Too bad there wasn't more of them!", is some of his nicer sentences. He seems in an incredibly good mood. A mad fire gleaming in his eyes. "Well fought!", he says to Laz as he walks down.

The elf clasps Elena's hand in thanks, after withdrawing the katana from the airplane's floor and resheathing it with a muttered comment. He turns his attention in the direction of the Firestarter, and smiles as he sees the man had a similar idea, and upon hearing his compliment.

"And you sir! We would have had some trouble without your mastery of fire!"

Beavis grins almost goofy like, "Yeah, Beavis is good with fire…", he says. "Beavis love fire." He then looks an gleefull expression to the grassfire his spells caused. Then suddenly he looks up towars the east. "Time for Beavis to go. Nice fight. Like ya style.", he says to Laz again. Then he walks out right into the smoldering fires to disapper in the thick smoke. Soon after that the distinct noise of rotors can be heard. Your reinforcements arrive to take the survivors back into civilization.

The end?
