GM: Dalton
Players: Critter
Synopsis: An AQ that hit every single place.
Date: DATE HERE, remember to add 60 years to the year to get the timing right :)

«Plot» Dalton is taking a R4 AQ for spell insight to the spell Powerbolt, this aids in learning the spell and reducing karma costs.
«Plot» Critter is taking a R4 Astral Quest to learn Cure Disease 5.

Dalton arrives at the threshold, waiting for his companion for this journey to arrive. He glances around, murmering "Its almost always pitch black here, at least they could come up with some scenery."

The Threshold is indeed pitch black at the moment, the dweller has not yet arrived and you simply exist in this emptyness for now.

It doesn't take long before Critter arrives. She stands in the darkness, the mask of Raccoon filtering over the face of her astral form. Behind her the ringtail swishes as he says, "Ooh, this is like the theater before they start the holos."

The dwellers voice echos in the emptyness, having no form at this time, only sound. "One of you is on a path to self destruction, sure that you are doing the right thing. The other of you is on a path led by others, never choosing your own direction. You both will fail, leave now and spare yourself the pain and anguish you will cause yourself and others, you do not belong here."

Listening to the dweller's words Critter says, "I do stuff on my own." She doesn't sound so sure that's the best reply as she says, "Raccoon guides my path." Then she starts to get a little distracted but she snaps out of it and she says, "Hey! I do do stuff on my own. I saved Vickie from those ghouls that time. Nobody went with me."

The first place you arrive, well, basicly the first thing you see, is a simple room, with a paintbrush and paints and an easel in front of each of you. Across the room is yourselves, also similiary standing in front of a paintbrush and easel and paints. In the center of the room is a three dimensional object, floating suspended. As you stare at it you realize it is the insight for a spell, with a little work, it could be completed, but you need to just finish a few touches. Your opposites begin to grab their paintbrushes and paint what they see. Thier brows furrowed in concentration.

Dalton frowns, grabbing the paintbrush and paints, and starting to work on his canvas. He starts by painting as best he can what he sees in the air before him, then he starts to add the extra touches he seems to know what he needs to do to finish this spell, and he works dilegently to complete the final missing pieces.

«Auto-Judge[]» Dalton (#8435) rolls 2 (to Frostlog) for "Second Place":

Moving closer to the object, Critter examines it carefully and then she picks up the brush. The brush interests her for a moment and she allows a smile to show across her face, the Raccoon mask looking gleeful as she gets an idea. Tapping the pigment onto her fingertips she begins massaging the paint against the object adding sweeping arcs that look like a rainbow across the side of it. Once she finishes the work clouds begin to form and move along the side. The work is completed, and she nods her head sitting down the brush.

It takes some time, but eventually you all set down your paint brushes, including your dopplegangers. Unfortunately, it seems like it happens at the exact same time. They stare at you, you stare at them. Nothing seems to happen until a door on the side of the room opens and a man comes in. He moves around to each of you, pausing as he looks at your work, weather it be on canvas, or the object itself. He seems to study it, then looks around and points to Dalton and Critter, the real ones. "Explain your work to me, I want to hear the essence of the formula."

Dalton looks to the man, then his painting and then he starts to speak "You can see the flow of mana through the orginal formula is flawed, this pattern would not allow for the mana to reach its ultimate purpose and expand into the physical realm….." Dalton manages to come up with some interesting reason why his painting should show the proper method for mana flow.

«Auto-Judge[]» Dalton (#8435) rolls 2 (to Frostlog) for "Third Place":

Dalton pages: Third Place: Place of Magic

Looking up at the man, Critter places her tiny hands against her hips and she leans back so she can get a better view of his face. The tail swishes behind her and she says, "Well I thought about it, I couldn't figure out the pattern of it but then I decided to go with what felt right." She points back in the direction they came from and she says, "It needed the warmth of joy to make the healing work, and to me joy is a rainbow after a good hard rain."

The Man listens to both of your explinations then nods "Very well, now I wish you to cast the spell you just created, I want to see if you really can perform the magic you have finished designing. Let me see your work in practice now." He gestures at the two dopplegangers, who suddenly sprout horrid wounds, collapsing to the ground and groaning in pain. "Heal them with the magic you just designed."

Dalton quickly moves over to his clone, and leans over to check the wounds, after a moment he seems to concentrate, and the black cloak and hood of his totem come over him, the cloak blows as if caught in the wind, and Daltons hand hovers over the body of his doppleganger, after a moment the wounds close up slowly, not perfect, but healed as much as he can. He sighs as the drain comes over him, but manages to resist the worst of it.

Looking at 'herself' Critter rubs her brow and she splays her fingers. The doppleganger sneezes but the real gnome doesn't mind the rudeness of the uncovered mouth. The flow of mana ripples through her, guided by her will and focused through the devotion to Raccoon. She places a hand on her dop's forehead and one on her stomach. The mana flows from one aura to the next as the flu is vanquished.

As the wounded clones eyes open, their face twists with rage, and they both reach up to grab at your throats. The grip is strong and firm, and you suddenly feel like all your strength is draining from your body and going into your doppleganger, who seems to heal with every second they hold you.

Your dopplegangers reach up with thier hands, and you can see the mana flowing forth as they call forth a spirit, the wind in the room picks up as the spirit takes shape between you and your doppleganger, then starts to approach you.

She works the flow of mana around the spirit's form, draining it of the very stuff it is formed from. The spirit dims, weakinging and then it vanishes fully.

Your dopplegangers do not seem fazed as you dispatch thier spirits, and thier gaze locks on yours. Thier eyes seem to glow suddenly and you feel yourself growing weaker, you can sense the doppleganger is stealing your very life force, your very will to live, and you know with a cold certainty that should they succede, you will never leave this metaplane alive, that your whole existance will end, and you will become nothing.

Dalton shivers for an instant as the feeling overcomes him, but he closes his eyes, finally able to break the gaze of the doppleganger. He takes a deep breath then straightens, knowing that in these places, his mind is his strongest weapon, and he will not lose his life here.

This is something Critter didn't expect, she yelps at the sensation as it draws the warmth out of her astral body. She's quick to adjust but by the time she starts drawing the mana back into herself to refuel her essence its already too late. Feeling the wounds from the draining she staggers back a little worse off than before, but still hanging on. Raccoon is a tenacious creature.

Suddenly, the light in the room dims, it becomes harder to see and focus, you find yourself losing your grip on your astral form, as if its being pulled away from you. Your minds clear of the fog and haze, and the light returns. As your sight grows clear, you are in the same room, the dopplegangers are now gone and you hear the light applause of the man who judged your work earlier. "You have done well, and now you have your reward. Stay here, study your work for as long as you like, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask." He smiles warmly at you both.

Citadel Reached, you visited all places. Its over!
