~Everything you said was true~

~I wrote elegiac stanzas for you~

The music is loud, the club is smoky, though much of the smoke is from machines set into the floor, fragranced to provide the scent associated with clubs. A perfectly engineered experience which is ruined, somewhat, by the fact that the evening is starting to kick into full swing, and with it, people are actually turning up.

It is a small club in the CAS district; The Electric Operahouse. Popular with the painfully fashionable crowd, and tonight, the location that one Mister Johnson has requested a group of more specialist individuals frequent in order to obtain the details of some lucrative work.

The Johnson in this instance is an older gentleman, wearing a sharp grey suit, in a private booth towards the back of the smoke-filled room. There is a blue flower in a glass on his table, that being the sign Runners are supposed to look for, and a glass of red wine, turned vibrant purple by the strange lighting of the Electric Operahouse. The thrum and flash makes him look a little like a father at a school disco, but he's hiding his distaste well.

Shoeshine would arrive wearing his Dallas gear, prim, proper, bright, fresh, young. He has his shoeshining valise with him, indicating a working dwarf. Maybe a little less hip, but also fresh-faced. He's in tune with the rhythm, even though the music isn't quite his style, and his wide, innocent eyes cut through the smoke and fog to zoom in on the blue flower in the glass - and exclude such from all other settings before he sits. "Hiya! Call me Shoeshine," he says to the Johnson fellow, in case it wasn't obvious from the metal footrest hanging off the shoeshining valise.

Far from painfully fashionable, Hek had to pay through the nose to get into the club. Once inside, he has about as much hope of getting a drink as a drunken troll squatter has of getting through the front door at all. The music is good, the beat weaving its way into his head, causing him to nod in time with it as he moves through the club. The patrons pay little attention to him, his street clothing marking him an outsider, not worthy of attention. The lack of focused attention seems to suit him well enough, making his search for the blue flower easy and uninterrupted.

As he approaches the table, he notices and recognizes the dwarf. "Guys.." He nods to the dwarf and the Johnson as he settles into the booth. Resting his forearms on the table, he interlaces his fingers and settles in to wait for whomever else will be capitalizing on the opportunity to earn some nuyen.
«Auto-Judge[]» Hek (#10968) spends 100 nuyen.

Definitely not Rook's usual scene, but still, a job is a job. She makes her way to the meet, dressed in a stylish- if slightly imposing- charcoal grey mortimer greatcoat. Hands in black leather gloves, black pants, black boots and of course, a pair of mirrorshades. She kind of screams hired muscle. But hey, some of these kids go for that look, right? She has no idea. She makes her way towards the Johnson's table and sets herself down in it.

Well, this is an interesting place for a meeting. Savannah is dressed in a business casual outfit, black skirt and jacket with a red blouse. She doesn't appear to be the club going sort, although she'll give the room a once over. It takes a few minutes for the elven girl to find her way towards the Table of the Blue Flower, nodding amiably to the Johnson and those already seated, offering a small smile to them all. That done, she'll take a seat and wait, the music and lights clearly a distraction at least for her.

Tycho arrives to the opera house in his beat up ford, parking it out of sight before getting out and walks into the club. Like Hek, the ork either has no sense fo fashion and has chosent to attend the meeting in a Large unbuttoned hawaiian patterned shirt and wife beater. The augmented ork makes it past the door with a bribe and heads fo rthe table with the johnson seated at it. Noticing the group of potental workers forming up he plops down wordlessly in the chair next to savanah, lettign it creek under his weight.
«Auto-Judge[]» Tycho (#3968) spends 100 nuyen.

The Johnson greets each Runner in turn with a slight inclination of his head. The smile is a little forced, with the assault of shoeshining valises and terrible fashion sense which assails his table… but one expects such things.

Leaning forwards, he indicates with a wave of his hand that the others ought, perhaps, do the same. Then, he takes a sip of his wine. He allows this to sink in for a moment, and then he speaks. "Disgusting." He says, addressing the group as a whole. "And that is the problem I wish for you to solve for me this evening. There is a restaurant in this sector, known as Cure. It has obtained a bottle of, very highly prized wine. The sort of thing that a discerning palette would kill for. The owner has refused to sell it to me, and therefore, you will retrieve it instead. How you go about doing this, is of no concern to me. A simple job, no?"

Shoeshine leans in conspiratorially, his hand poised for a quickdraw of the pocsec. "Name the wine?" After a few moments he says, "I've been known to open doors from time to time."

On the surface, the job is as simple as the Johnson has explained it to be so Hek nods simply, flexing his fingers ever so slightly while keeping them entwined with each other. Those eyes of his, perfect as cybernetics can be, yet cold like two tiny surveillance cameras look over the rest of the assembled group. He waits patiently, curious to see how the rest of the group receives the proposal.

Shoeshine basically plans to quick-trix-check the wine. If the bottle is a million nuyen, then 10k per runner is a bad deal.

Savannah's forehead wrinkles for a moment as she thought the man called her disgusting. She ohs quietly when she realizes he is talking about the wine and nods, seemingly more than willing to listen to the rest of the spiel. Her eyes go to Shoeshine at his question and then back to the J

"What is it worth to you?" Asks Double Tap. Not her sort of place, not her sort of job either. But if the pay is good, she's not one to complain.

Tycho leans in slightly and rests his forearm on the table. Tycho looks at the other runners assembled and adds to show shine's question with his smooth synthetic monotone,"And are you able to provide us with its whereabouts or could it be in a saftey deposit box in europe?"

"It is a Wairau Cove Sauvignon Blanc, vintage 2012." The Johnson explains, "Very rare to have one which survived all the unpleasantness over the past few decades. It is in the restaurant, though I do not have information about the security arrangements surrounding it."
«Plot» Eris says, "Give me a check for the data search, Shoeshine. :)"

You paged Shoeshine with 'A quick search finds reference to an auction which sold a bottle four years ago for about 200,000 =Y=.'.

Shoeshine , having come up with a perfectly rational past auction price for the wine in question, listens indeed to the asking offer.

"And I will pay each of you twenty thousand for your efforts." The Johnson adds, looking at Double Tap. "Which seems like more than a reasonable payment for a night's work to me."

The amount offered elicits an arched eyebrow from Hek, though he does his best to conceal his surprise by unfolding his hands and rubbing at his chin. "Which restaurant?" He asks before retrieving the end of a black, rubberized fiberoptic cord from inside his jacket and snugging it into the matte black jack mostly concealed behind his left ear.

New Year's Resolution! Savannah is trying to be more professional, so she'll resist whistling and looking like she's just fallen off the turnip truck. She nods soberly to the offered price, seeming more than satisfied with what has been offered.

Shoeshine says, "Given the past price of the beverage and the fact that it's simply not for sale at the current time, that sounds perfectly adequate." He smiles and gives a bob of his head.

DT nods her head a bit. That's a lot of money to steal a bottle of wine, even if it is sixty years old. But, money is money. "Alright. I'm in." She states, and lets everyone else cover the questions.

"If its in town, we'll find you a bottle for that price." Tycho agree's with the rest of the group, offering a shrug. I mean how hard can it be to steal a bottle of wine.

"Excellent." The Johnson says, and pours the rest of his glass of swill - at least by his own standards - into the glass with the flower. "The restaurant is Cure, in this sector. There is a drop box address on this chip." And he produces a chip. "Which is opened with this key." And there is a key. "Leave the wine and details of the account you wish to be credited there, and it will be done."

«OOC» Hek says, "Can Hek attempt to figure out if the spot is at all owned by / protected by any criminal orgs here at the table, or is that going to take a bit of legwork?"
«OOC» Eris says, "If you have relevant knowskills you can roll them, otherwise it is going to take legwork yeah."

Shoeshine says after the Johnson has left, "Depending on where it is in this sector, it could be more than a night's work. Maybe we should surveil it?"
There is an edge of hesitation in Hek's tone, "I'm in.." He says, tossing his hat into the ring with the rest of the team. "Twenty kay." He confirms, his lips pressed together thoughtfully as he verbalizes the amount. A whole drek load of nuyen, all things considered given the seeming simplicity of the request on the surface.

Nodding, Savannah remarks, "I am in as well." Not much more than that; she seems at ease letting the others ask questions and hammer out any details.

The Johnson pauses to confirm that everyone is interested, and then gives the slightest nod of his head. "There is a private number on the chip as well." He states, "Do not use it unless something goes wrong, of course. I'll expect to hear back from you inside three days."

Shoeshine keeps leaning in all conspiratorially. "So, uh, let's exchange comm frequencies and contact info, break, surveil in our own special ways, and come back to plan. I mean, if it's in a triple-a security area, that takes a different kind of plan than if it's B-grade."

Rook nods her head in agreement. "Sounds like a plan. I can case the place from outside but… I'm not exactly unobtrusive." she comments.

"Sure!" Savannah lays several commcards on the table for the others with her favored comm channel and telecomm information. "How long do we want to wait before reconvening?"

"Same. If you need some heavy lifting or someone playing the big guy, let me know otherwise im just another pair of eyes. for legwork." tycho adds in his monotone, taking a out a pocksec and exchanging information with those that want it.

Hek only has a cellphone number, and he provides that to the group. "I'm working on it…" He says, attempting to cut off any complaints about his lack of professional communications gear. With the info exchanged, he excuses himself and heads off to start planning and getting ready. "I will be in touch."

Shoeshine excellents! "Rule one, don't get caught. And we go from there!" He eschews the whole everyone putting their hands in the center thing. He doesn't know if this crowd will go for that. But he does say, as Hek leaves, "Break!" like he meant to do that before he left and such.

Shrugging, Savannah will rise as well and head for the door, offering everyone a smile and a wave. She heads out of the noisy club to consider her own course of action, the "team" portion of this job to come later, hopefully. No one said when to call, though.

«OOC» Hek says, "Eris, let me know when you're ready for rolls."
«OOC» Eris says, "Sure. I'm going to assume you can find the restaurant easily enough, so if you are all ready to move on, I will describe what it is."

'Cure' is a high class restaurant in a nice (A rating) part of town. This being the evening, it is open, and there's a modest line outside waiting to get in. The building itself is two stories, with a silver awning to help keep the rain off those waiting - though tonight it is just bitterly cold, not actually raining.

There's an alley to the left with a side door into the kitchen, outside which, right now, one of the busboys in a red and silver uniform is taking a smoke. The backdoors are currently closed and locked with an obvious camera covering it.

The right of the building attaches directly to a tailor for Italian men's suits called Luchianno's.

You paged Hek with 'You spot a second camera hidden on the top of the building to the left overlooking the alley to catch the side door. You also estimate that the maglock on both the back and side doors are R6.'.
You paged Shoeshine with 'Their uniforms look kind of silly. There are no metahumans at all though - clientele or front staff, which is kind of conspicuous.'.
You paged Tycho with 'There are people there!'.
Shoeshine pages: Curses! My powers of disguise are foiled! :)
You paged Savannah with 'You spot a second camera hidden on the top of the building to the left overlooking the alley to catch the side door. You also see wards - though you'd need to assense them to be sure what force they are - and note that the bouncer on the front has some cyberware, though you'd need to assense him closer for more details too. Several of the customers waiting outside also seem to have more cyber, at a glance, than is usual.'.

Hek pages: Thanks

Shoeshine will eventually message you all at some point, letting you know via encrypted text or voice or some such. "All the clientele or front staff that I've seen are human. One hundred percent. It's kind of strange. I was looking for someone to disguise us as, but no dwarves, no elves, no orks or trolls, no nothing. This place is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Or a picket line."

Rook responds, "Policlub place maybe?"

Savannah lays on her bed, tapping a response into her sec, "Got some cybered people in line there the night I went, much more than the average salaryman. Also, the bouncer has some as well though I am not sure what."

You paged Shoeshine with 'No asians, mostly white, but some amerind, latino and black people yes.'.

Commlink-Sunshine> Savannah says, "I did not. Also, this place has wards, which is pretty interesting for a restaurant. They may have something else to hide?"
You paged Hek with 'Okay, you've got an address for a place you can crash discretely for a small donation.'.

Commlink-Dogface> Shoeshine says, "Any of us deckers able to get the scoop on their security systems? Otherwise, worth checking if there's any time where they lock up, clean up, and then the last one leaves."

Hek summarizes his findings into a simple data file that he shares with the team.

Ownership of the Cure recently changed hands about a month ago, in a "takeover" by some sort of shady conglomerate. Nobody knows for certain who really owns the place.
Additional security camera on the roof, overlooking the alley.
Sophisticated maglocks on the doors, practically the best a non-corporate or governmental operation can afford. Will be difficult but not impossible to bypass.

«Auto-Judge[]» Hek (#10968) rolls Stealth (Urban) (to Eris) for "Attempt to follow the manager home, erring on the side of caution with a preference given to losing him over being detected. You paged Hek with 'You'll need to roll etiquette to get into the restaurant first. And… please ask to do this stuff before throwing rolls. :P'.

Commlink-Sunshine> Savannah says, "It's certainly possible, but given the size of the buildings I'd figure they'd have more than one ward."

Commlink-Steel> Tycho says, "did anyone see the owner? we coudl bop him on the head and make him throw the bottle out with the trash."

Dressed in the best clothes he has, and lacking any armor or weapons, Hek decides to stop by the Cure for dinner. Like the rests of the unconnected masses who want to dine at the latest hot spot, he queues up in line and takes his chances on trying to get past the receptionist, door man and the rest of the staff whose job seems to be permitting the fewest amount of visitors into the restaurant as possible.

Commlink-Sunshine> Savannah says, "High class locks, wards, multiple cameras on entrances, cyberware. This is all a bit over the top for a restaurant, isn't it?"

Whilst Hek is waiting, a limosine pulls up, and out gets a man in a truly staggeringly expensive suit. Flanked by two heavies, all human, he breezes past the line and the doorman stands respectfully to the side. "Mister Cordero." He says, "Please, Sir, your usual table is ready. Right this way…"

When Hek gets to the front of the line, he is greeted far less warmly. The doorman considers him for a few, long moments, and then sniffs through his nose. "I'm afraid the wait will be about two hours." He says. "If I may suggest, there is a Paco Taco a few blocks down the street."
Commlink-Dogface> Shoeshine says, "Heaven only knows what we find in the basement behind the big wheel of cheese."

Long distance to Hek: Eris is going to say you know 'Cordero' = 'Denver Mafia Family'.

Hek is nothing if not sensitive to societal pressures, being a half breed who has never really been accepted by any sort of exclusive group. When the door man turns him away, Hek takes it in stride with an understanding nod. "You want me to get you something while I'm there?" He chides, moving away and stuffing his hands into his pockets. Once back in contact with the team, he relays the tale of Mister Cordero, and some vague whisperings that he has heard about the Cordero's being local made guys, with everything that such an association implies.

«OOC» Hek says, "One last attempt to identify the manager. Hang out across the street and use the vision mags to attempt to peer through the windows, using "stealth" to do it discretely."

The manager isn't exactly easy to spot. One more middle aged white guy in a suit in a restaurant where the dominant clientele seems to be middle aged white guys in suits. However, Hek is able to spot him eventually, chatting away with Mister Cordero, laughing and smiling. They seem to be good friends!

Commlink-Sunshine> Savannah says, "Wait, "made", as in Mafia?"

Commlink-Dogface> Shoeshine says, "Italian name, 'made man', sounds like Mafia to me."

Commlink-Steel> Tycho says, "so we probibly shouldnt kill anyone."
Commlink-Sunshine> Savannah says, "We should't kill anyone regardless."

Commlink-Mozambique> Rook says, "That doesn't even make sense, Steel. From the sounds of things, speaking to the manager might be the best way to go. I don't know about any of you, but I don't think I could handle the security, the guards, search the place, get out, and get to the drop inside a minute."

Commlink-Sunshine> Savannah says, "Well, the main concern might be that even if we can sneak in during a non-business time, they may be doing something illegal after hours and have more people."

Commlink-Dogface> Shoeshine says, "But that means no police, at least."

Commlink-Mozambique> Rook says, "It might mean dirty police."

Tycho takes up position down the street slightly in his beat up truck. The ork has just his hawiian shirt on over a set of ruthenium covered form fitting armor. With the lights off and a cup of coffe, Tycho waits for the manager to head someplace else, either on car or by foot.

Commlink-Sunshine> Savannah says, "Given that there is a high security area, we could arrange for something to distract them should we need it? Make them go over THERE instead of where we want to be."
Commlink-Steel> Tycho says, "mmm let everyone know somethign is up as opposed to just the mob."

The restaurant closes at midnight. At one in the morning, the manager lets himself out the back, walks around to check the lock on the side door, and then checks the front. Notably, the back area staff does include a couple of dwarves and an ork, who leave at midnight. The manager mostly looks tired as he pulls his greatcoat about himself, and begins to walk away.
«Plot» Eris says, "You are now into day three."

Shoeshine is currently waiting for the late late late night (or early morning) when they appear to have locked up for good. In the meantime, he'll disguise himself. He intends to do a walkby, just cross the front like anyone might do, so as to use his enhanced hearing from that position to see if 1. there's cleaning crew in there after everything has left, or if like most restaurants they clean up for the night and everyone goes home; and then if he hears anything untowards from within - plotting mob guys, floating gambling den, who knows.

The manager continues at a steady pace, and then slows. His eyebrow twitches, and he pulls a very *large* handgun from his inside pocket, turning around and pointing it where he estimates Tycho, roughly, to be. "The frag is this?" He demands, angrily. The middle aged man is much more than he seems. Perhaps luckily for Tycho, the firearm of choice is a Slivergun. A fairly nasty weapon, as it sprays a large quantity of sharpened metal spikes into the area around the heavily armored ork. There's almost no noise, but the tinkle of metal off 'thin air' does confirm his suspicion.

Tycho's unveiling might frighten a lesser man, but this guy? Apparently he's seen some things, dog. As the augmented monstrosity barrels towards him, he takes a cooler grip on his gun, and sights carefully. The metal rain is dead on target, but doesn't actually slow Tycho down at all. Sweat beads on his brow, and he grits his teeth, but doesn't say a word.

He uncovers it and hooks up an appropriate looper from his electronics kit, designed for just such an eventuality. He won't know if it works until he's in the security room looking at the screen for this camera, but hey. He did his best.

Shoeshine calls Hek to get him here, repeats the order to cover his face, engage all stealth and etc.

Shoeshine is at the back door clinging to the wall in a dramatic pose, having just finished the back door camera system.

Tycho continues to retreat from teh scene of his crime, mentally countint away the time before he is well and truely fucked. Docwagon saw a alarms, half a second for a double check, then they call the mans phone… drek. Tycho turns and hurls the stolen phone with all force towards a rooftop. What happens after that..

Then they call the cops, but they cant share medical info with them, so dron on scene inside a minute, first cop will respond in twice that.. Tycho keeps walking away ruthenium form going from shadow to shadow. Keeping in commlink with his team.

Great. Savannah pulls a balaclava over her head, her hair braided and up out of the way. She shakes her head and makes sure everything is set on her rig before engaging the ruthenium, slipping out of whatever vehicle they've chosen for this little adventure. The camouflaged elf heads towards where Shoeshine said to go, muttering to herself in her head the whole way. She narrows her eyes and sticks to the shadows, not trusting this silly technology any more than she has to.

Not a surprise, Hek's beanie doubles as balclava, the transformation obvious as he rolls it down over his face to cover his features. The apparent contradiction of a heavily armored man, wearing surgical gloves with his face covered is not completely lost upon Hek, so he moves quickly and does his best to avoid obvious sight lines from cameras on nearby buildings, and especially the ones on the Cure. He ducks into the alley and meets up with the team.

Rook nods her head at the sound on the comms, and she makes her way towards the location. She parks some distance away and makes the rest of the way towards the building on foot. She'll attempt to slip into the alleyway without being spotted.

Thankfully, this neighborhood seems pretty quiet at 1 in the morning. The silence is broken only by the arrival of Docwagon, whose screeching ambulance rolls up and loads the mutilated body of the unfortunate manager into the back. Stabilizing him is the first priority, making sure he isn't going to swallow his own tongue.

«Plot» Eris says, "Okay. First Pass at the back door, keycard lock, you have the key. Who goes in first?"
«Plot» Rook says, "I'll take point."

«Plot» Eris says, "Pose your approach and I'll set the back room."

Once in the alleyway, Rook pulls on the mask of her body armor, kept in her pocket. And then she walks up to the door, bracing against it, she nods to Tycho to use that keycard he got. She doesn't have a weapon in hand just yet.

The lights are off, and the back door opens directly into storage. It is dark and difficult to make out anything other than boxes and racks, though there's another door easily spotted to the left, judging from the makeup of it likely cold storage, and a cellar door on the floor in the far right.

Sunshine moves to follow Rook, staying out of the metahuman's arcs of fire and in general tries to be semi-competent. She'll glance around and shake her head again, her hands free of weapons at the moment.

Tycho has messed up enough tonight and moves as directed, pulling out a knife as he tries teh celler door.

Shoeshine sends Hek with Rook and Sunshine as the next tech specialist, and goes with Tycho, using his super-hearing to see if he can determine any clues. Yes, he can definitely hear the fridge's compressor with his high-frequency aid. Now he can exclude it and listen for other stuff - hollow areas, secret stuff, one of those special wine storage devices that keeps it cool but not frozen.

Hek ducks into the restaurant last, the micro-processors in his eyes magnifying what little light is available. As shoeshine rushes to attack the creature, Rook follows up behind the dwarf- as he attacks low, the Hobgoblin clenches her fist, her arm visibly bulging as synthetic muscles strain under her coat. A slender blade, about six inches long slides out from her wrist, and she slices it towards the creature's 'head' to no avail.

A bartender sleeping off a few extra drinks after closing… a couple co-workers making out in the walk in… maybe even some pisanos with firearms… all of those Hek was prepared to deal with. The physical manifestation of dust and dirt congealing into something vaguely humanoid takes him by surprise and he is at a loss. Instinct kicks in without thinking and he settles his weight into a defensive stance, his hands automatically raising, palms loose and ready to slap away any incoming blows. "What the frag.." He curses, thoughts manifesting audibly.

Tycho is just about to open the door he is investigating when shoe turns and confronts somethign over his shoulder. Not the fastest of the pair, Tycho lazily turns around and offers a audible, if monotone,"Oh shit."

Shoeshine will work on his slipping-out-unseen bit. Over the comm he says, "Any magical getting-out help?"

Rook retracts the blade again, and heads down to grab ahold of the box. "Got it. Let's go." She says to the others, when she hears the sirens. She heads back up the steps.

Hek follows the team out of the restaurant and then disappears into the evening, heading towards the nearest safehouse to lay low for a few hours while the heat blows over.

Savannah will exit and disperse with the rest of them, moving out of the sector and into hiding.

Shoeshine does his best to use his hearing to determine where the cops might be, and sneaks away to lose himself in the all-concealing shadows. Eventually, when well away, he'll go into one alley and come out another undisguised after a little sewer trip.
