A Little Surveillance

GM: Mr. Terrific
Players: Flint, Fixer
Synopsis: A Yakuza bigshot hires the runners to do surveillance on his little brother because the previous surveillance team is unavailable. He doesn't tell them that the reason they are unavailable is because the little brother had them killed and disposed of by shadowrunners.
Date: August 20, 2071

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "As usual, I ask for consent. This quest could be amazingly simple or it could be dangerous depending on particular rolls at particular times. One never knows. All I can promise is a certain rationality."
«Plot» Fixer consents.
«Plot» Flint consents

Word hits the grapevine. A Yak wants a surveillance team in a hurry. Pays ten k per person, shadow the target for a day, penetrate him with electronic surveillance. Possible bonuses paid. Should be on the good side of the Warrens Wall.

Fixer gears up, but the only thing "big" he brings to the meet is the bulky extra armor while moving around in the war zone. Surprisingly, it doesn't slow him down a bit, but it's at the limits, repeating at the seams of his stamina and quickness, so to speak. Weapons wise, he brings nothing and a little kit for electronics. Well, it's not so little, let's just say, he brings his surveillance and matrix kits. His knowledge of Japanese language and culture should prove useful.

Flint switches to his half assed disguise, that of a black ork instead of a half native one. He really needs to figure out how to do that facial trick soon, or he will end up having to buy a polymask and learn makeup or something. A surveillance job doesn't seem too hard, though its not exactly what he is an expert at he figures he can give it a shot.

The 'back room' is in an upscale japanese restaurant in the UCAS. It is actually upstairs of the main restaurant and then back into the building, with a discreetly vaulted door and electronic scrambling in the walls. The man waiting is a short, round-faced japanese, with a smile and proper depth of bow for Fixer and the faintest curl of lip for Flint. He makes a show of checking his watch of ostentatious quality. "We have little time. Call me Tanaka. Our usual surveillance team cannot make it today, and so we are scrambling. We need you to follow this man," he slides forth a dossier, "and not be detected. Record his every utturance. If you should happen to come across news out of the ordinary, there will be a bonus. There may not be any such news, however." (Saying 'Call me Tanaka' is like saying, "Call me John Smith." Or 'Mister Johnson.')

Flint doesn't say much, just listens. He nods as the job is described, then takes a moment to go over the dossier. Apparently he is going to let the other run handle the show so far, since all he appears to be doing is studying the information.

Scarcth the last then. My apologies. Everything from above facts remain except for dress code, for upscale place, it will be no armor and a suit. Fixer will change out of his clothes when he leaves the Sprawl, leaving the "tank" outfit in the trunk of his car.
He bows in a well rehearsed Japanese way. To make it simple and short, he is a Jap, so he knows or used to know the customs, maybe a little rusty, but still no foreigner. He agrees to the job, requesting additional information. He negotiates, but not for extra pay, rather for extra info. He follows a thin line between knowing as much as they (team) can about this job, versus blatantly asking for shit that is actually included in their job, in other words, is up to them to do. He is ready to move on (once info is passed) and introduce to his team.

Tanaka says, "This is Izutsu Takuya. He is the third scion in the Izutsu family. He has his own territory in the UCAS. Whatever you do, do not allow him to come to harm. He is inviolate. He often will have two family guards with him. You should be able to acquire him in the lower UCAS by tracking his Mitsubishi Nightsky, whose transponder codes and license plate are listed.

Fixer is not very happy with the last information. He chooses not to negotiate for more money, but instead express strong feelings to the Johnson about his feelings. Let me try to break it down. The WHY he is doing this, is to somewhat cover his ass with a "I told you so" clause. And the WHAT he is upset about is about being hired for a surveillance job and then expected to be a body guard. Hiding and protecting someone, is a bit extra difficult, he states. And if, hypothetically the target is attacked and they (our team) come to save his ass then both bad guys and the bodyguards will shoot them… Anyways, his tears aside (big time whiner), he is ready to continue.

Flint grunts faintly and nods. "Sounds reasonable." He doesn't seem to be saying much today, mainly just sitting there and looking orkish.

Tanaka says, "If he should be attacked and you fail to save him, there will be no penalty. If he should be attacked and you succeed in saving him, there will be a bonus. Your job is not as bodyguards. I merely point that out to emphasize my desires to you."

Fixer nods. No problem. Whine all he wants, but in the end, job is a job and he is thankful.

Tanaka says, "Any other questions?"

Fixer has none.

Flint shakes his head. "Not from me."

Tanaka says, "Is there any osurveillance or recording equipment you need to borrow?"

Fixer checks his datapad. He seems to have everything required. Well, behind the scenes, that is semi-true. He has a recorder and a camera, but no shotgun mikes or bugs or anything, however, his augmented ears can pick that up and he can record the info via matrix or good old fashioned notes. He seems to be satisfied with that. Worst to worst, he will take a pay cut.

Flint grunts "Laser Microphone, camcorder. If he spends a lot of time in his limo, the laser will work to find out what he is saying inside."

The laser mike, camcorder, and spare recording chips are all provided.

And so the team heads to the lower UCAS, nearish the Warrens Wall but still on the 'good' side, to find some way to acquire their target. It's around 11 am. Higher levels of armor are completely reasonable here - many of the commutters and workers who can only live on the other side of the wall wear as much as they can lard on. And certainly they may speak amongst themselves.

Fixer is gonna ask Flint to hook up with him in a certain spot just before the "acquisition" spot. In that area, he will pick a standard Americar and go ahead and "acquire" it. The break in takes no time, maybe 45 seconds to disable security systems and door locks. Another 45 seconds to start it. After a couple blocks, 30 seconds to deactivate term chip and upload R4 Transponder Library. Except the license plates, the car is "theirs" (not interested in keeping in). He will invite Flint to ride with him, if he doesn't have a problem. Taking the wheel for time being.

«Plot» Fixer says, "if it's okay with you, i'll just cut 10KP off the tail end for that. the rules are simple, but i lost them in a cheat sheet 2 computers ago.
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "I cannot complain with your taking off 10kp off the top. :)"

Flint doesn't mind riding along in a stolen car, it works for what they need for now. He is more interested in keeping track of their target and keeping him under survelliance.

Flint just flies casual, er, drives casual. You know, just killing time while the piece of meat in the other seat does his technowizardry to track down the target. He decides, since they are going to be out, he might as well stop at a Taco Bell and pick up something to eat, no need to fead the human.

Fixer intents to do two things. One, of course, to locate the vehicle and put it tracking on the car's GPS, so his partner can get on the way to intercept it. Second, get the term chip code, so if need arises, he can activate the term chip.

Flint lets the autopilot drive for now, he is enjoying his Baja Blast and Double Decker Taco, no lettuce, with fire sauce. Munch munch munch.

It takes a little work, it takes a little doing. You know how it is. You watch the master, and he makes it look easy. How many years of his life did he spend to make it look that easy? Who knows. How much money goes into that deck to make it dance the electronic dance faster than anyone else? A hell of a lot, say all the deckers. And when the transponder is searched for, what does it say? 'That Mitsubishi Nightsky is currently happy in its home garage in the AAA section of UCAS.' ie, what you've discovered is that the freaking target hasn't even gotten his lazy ass out of bed at 11 am in the morning. But given what you know and what you have and what you've done, you can set the grid to watch for his car when it comes out and warns you, and that happens at about 2 pm. And it starts driving down for this section of the UCAS, down by the Warrens Wall. So, aside from the whole three hours of wondering what the hell, everything is going according to plan. You can even swing around and get a sightline to the car whenever you want.

Fixer jacks in via wireless link, running it from omni-directional portable antenna that he has rigged into his body armor. He quickly changes into another world, becoming a three dimensional snake. He runs his agent and dumb frame to search the local grid for an address. After finding it, he dives in deeper, zooming to the RTG at the speed of thought. He runs the agent to look for the LTG info, the dumb frame is a connection between them two, delivering packets of info. The actual break in is not difficult. Again, to be honest, it's not the skill, it's the countless hours spent making these programs that really give him the upper hand. His 6 month written and 6 month old Renraku Teng code cracks the old grid guide system and he is in. He hacks the admin password, creating a new file, logging out and logging in as an admin…
Fixer will share any and all, current and future info with his ork partner. Just a note.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "So there it is. It's 2pm. You have spotted his car."

Flint grunts and of course uses his laser microphone on the back window of the limo as they tail it discreetly. Knowing the Transceiver makes it easy to even make a few wrong turns to keep from following too closely.
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Excellent. Make a perception roll for the usage of the laser mike, Flint."

Fixer is or was worried. It's not the job of all jobs, but maybe it's just anxiety of being so long out of the game or willingness to succeed that makes him second guess his each move. Did they fuck up? Is the guy already dead in his house? Did he get counter-hacked and sent on a wild goose chase? I cannot tell you how much he is relieved to know that everything is cool when 2 PM rolls around. He will drive and use the scanner, to try and catch any traffic on radio and decrypt it. Anything relevant, if he gets it by chance on the scanner.

Flint does what he can, and so far, thats to hold a laser microphone on the car and record anything going on inside. Other than that, he is kinda useless at the moment.

If you are detected in your ability to follow the Nightsky randomly, letting buildings and city blocks traverse between it and you at intervals whenever needed; nothing in particular happens. Over the laser mike, you hear the names of.. business establishments. Restaurants, mostly, some little corner markets, some tchochke stores. All in several blocks of 'turf'. It looks like they are going through a list of where they will be today.

Fixer double checks the ork's work, making sure he is recording. Shall I say, he enquires the ork on the progress. As for himself, he continues to drive, eventually operating via datajack cable rather than stupid ass manual mode… that is so for non-leets.

Flint doesn't seem particularly concerned by the job. He lets the recorder play aloud in the car, so Fixer can hear what's said in the limo and he keeps the laser on target as best he can. "Well, let's hope the whole day is as dull as this."

The time comes that they arrive at the first cluster of locations on their list, most of which you have heard and recorded. They actually drive into an alleyway and park by the loading zone 'inside' the block where trucks pull up. It would be suspicious to do more than drive by, so how do you maintain surveillance as they (Izutsu Takuya himself, and his two Yak butt-boys) get out of the car and head towards the back door of a restaurant? (Izutsu is also short and round-faced.. he might even be related to the Mr. Tanaka that you met. His armored Executive Suit is of the finest quality, and his men are appropriately chipped, with big bulges under their arms… the discerning eye would guess Predator III's.)

Fixer lights a cigarette, rolling down the window slightly to let smoke escape. It's one of those electric cigarettes, very 2060s… or 50 years agoish.
Fixer says "Do you have ruth?"

Flint yawns faintly, but when the car finally does come to a stop he keeps his eye on the target, and uses the laser mic on the closest glass object to the target to pick up any ambient recordings. He also tends to look around at places he might determine as good ambush sites, cause if someone is going to attack the guy, then it gets fun. "Nope, no ruth. I'm just a poor boy."

The restaurant does in fact have tinted windows. So, by driving past the front, you can laser mike those windows and hear what's happening inside. It's 2 pm, so lunch is pretty much over, and the only sounds are the last set of diners, the cleaning, and the management with Mr. Izutsu. "Ah hello!" they say, with a little too much emphasis. "Please, sit down!" they say, all very welcoming to Mr. Izutsu. Maybe too welcoming. "No no, I may not stay. I am merely here to pay my respects," he says quietly. They converse, passing the time of day, and Mr. Izutsu compliments his restaurant and his family, and eventually speaks words of departure.

Fixer dismounts and with the cigarette in his mouth puts on the suit gloves, connecting the wires. He then dawns the hood on and the bulky goggles. The clothing color fades, flashes and becomes see through. Finally, he pockets his cigarette and heads on in, saying goodbye o the ork and getting on the same comm channel with him, talking via datajack (or back up with taped on subvocal mike). He will try to follow inside and penetrate the perimeter to get a closer look and hear, as per-mission. He also activates his centering focus, praying to the totem to help him be unseen and unheard.

Between car and the restaurant door, the figure shimmers less and less as the warmed up scanners begin to process the external pattern information faster. Soon he can't even see himself. He sneaks inside and takes a spot, finding some place out of the way of common traffic. Fixer check in with Flint to let him know he is inside.

It takes some care to slip in the back door, but then, it's not shut and locked because in these restaurants in broad daylight, they're often open to let the heat out and let people take smoke breaks and carry the trash to the dumpster during cleaning. That lets Fixer penetrate in to see the ending of the conversation between the manager of the restaurant (also Japanese) and his family, who are all very attentive and respectful, and Mr. Izutsu. And he sees their last double-handed handshake as Mr. Izutsu is saying his final goodbyes. The manager of the restaurant has passed a credstick to Mr. Izutsu. This is a payoff. That's what's taking place here. Mr. Izutsu is doing the collections for the businesses on his route. (Flint, obviously, couldn't possibly detect this with a laser mike.) -more-
Just as he is leaving, Mr. Izutsu jerks his head sharply. His two butt-boys remain oblivious. He relaxes and smiles, not breaking stride.

Flint keeps rearranging the laser mic, trying to find some way to pick up something going on inside. He also routinely scans for signs of trouble, just in case they get that chance to earn the bonus.

Fixer comms "Client commin' out." he then goes back out the way he came. He himself oblivious of any detection or danger, as far as he knows, his "stealth" suit is impenetrable, or so said the dude who sold it to him, for under market price. He heads back to meet with Flint.

On the way out, Fixer can see Mr. Izutsu and his two pals walk across the back alleyway to the next collection spot. Another restaurant, this one a steam table joint. Flint can rearrange the car and listen, and get a very similar story.
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "And you can link up."

Flint does what he can to keep his target in view without exposing himself. Orks probably stand out in this area, seeing as everyone here is a racist bastard! Best he can do is hide inside the car and keep trying to record information.

Fixer will continue with the "footwork" while the target is on foot. Once other transport is involved, he will link up with Flint or ask him to pull up to a agreed location. He allows Flint any freedom of maneuver while reserving the same for himself, keeping the team radio waves pretty quiet except for emergencies.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "So you do your best to sneak into every location he goes to?"
«Plot» Fixer says, "that's what the job entailed, or did I miss something?"
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "I'm just making sure, and making it clear to you! You are using ruth to sneak into a lot of doorways. Just so you know. :)"
«Plot» Fixer knows. IC i'm pretty torn, on one hand I am not happy it turned out this way, but then again, it's a shadowrun not a pizza delivery.

It proceeds like this. The Mitsubishi Nightsky drives. It parks. Izutsu gets out, and makes his collections. He's a little like a politician, in that he knows the names of all the people he's collecting from. Sometimes they actually tell him that they have a problem, to which he listens solicitiously and his butt-boys record it and he says, "I will see what I can do." But he always collects the money at the end. And then comes the interesting one.

Flint is used to routines, of course, that's partly why he left the star, but at least he isn't doing this boring stuff all the time anymore. Its not much problem following along and recording everything he can, something's bound to happen eventually.

This one is a slightly higher-end Chinese restaurant (but you know those Yak, they don't discriminate when it comes to extortion). This time, when Mr. Izutsu goes in, the manager says, "We've prepared the back room for you." And the 'back room' looks to be down the hall from the kitchen, and to have a 'bead wall' leading to it, going down to an inch below the floor. Looking down the hall, there's already two people waiting in the room - a smallish place with a family-size table and a lazy susan for a big celebratory chinese meal. One of the two people in the room is a troll with a big case.. like a troll-sized guitar case, and the other would look to be a NAN-style shaman, human, young, whippety. Face is painted.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "And so, that back room has no windows and is around a few corners from the window. the laser mike will be … not so good. Possible, but take a good roll. But the big question is, does the Ruthie stealther try to go down the hallway, and through the beaded curtain?"

Snake, also known as Fixer, continue to follow his "prey". Stealth may come and go, there is never certainty in anything and he did lose a lot of it through "pollution" of his body via cyber and bio, but it is still an art he has used for a long long time and relied to survive for a long time. He will continue and try to follow the client, which would be pretty much mimicking him. Stop, get out, sneak in, watch, record, get out, drive…. Before the "beaded" door, he squats off to the side and plays with his monowhip, flicking the wrist and letting the tip/thumb nail, come off half an inch and then cybernetically commanding the whip to retract back into the fingertip compartment. But that bare long hallway.. he has no choice but to back out. Stealth is one thing, but stupid is another. Gotta stay just back around that corner.

Flint is outside, somewhere, trying to get a bead with the laser mic at the suggestions of Fixer, who is telling him what room everyone is in. Other than that, he won't be rushing in to save the day apparently.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "So, to be sure, you are just back around the corner of the hallway, listening through the beaded doorway. You are ruthie-stealthed. right?"
«Plot» Fixer nods. All correct.

Izutsu Takuya sweeps in and begins speaking to the troll and the shaman. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance this evening. I am Izutsu Takuya, or 'Sato-san' for the evening. I seek your assistance in dealing with Izutsu Kaito, who can be easily found at the following address." He can be heard to draw out something papery. "I request two things. Fixer maintains his position, keeping his ears open and his sensitive nostrils doing the work also. The olfactory boosters detecting slightest molecules in the air while the nasal filters allowing one to focus on specific smells. His hearing perception is all magical and pretty much all maxed out. «Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "When last we left our protagonists, Fixer was ruthied and lurking around a corner. The shaman had just cast a spell on the troll physical adept with the dikoted combat axe. Whatever they had planned, they hadn't spoken aloud, instead writing it down between them, almost as if they knew they were being eavesdropped upon. And the troll's action was to, from within the room, bust out through the bead curtain and axe the person standing around the corner from halfway down the hallway - he's been told where that person is by writing, but he hasn't spotted him personally."

«Auto-Judge[]» Fixer (#1804) rolls Initiative with a result of 28.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Fixer 28, Troll 26, Shaman 8. Izutsu and his two butt-boys will not roll in unless they are atacked. They will cower when appropriate."
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Fixer. You heard what sounded like a spell being cast and the beginning of troll footsteps. Hold position, do something else? Obviously there is no verbal evidence that they know your location."

«Plot» Fixer says, "Ready weapon simple. Shift perception simple."
Fixer maintains position and against all his senses goes astral. The slight flick of the cyberarm allows the thumb nail to detach on an almost invisible string. In astral, he too readiest the weapon, enhanced to work in both planes. He is still torn between retreat and standing last ground, for now, he will stay still and try to avoid contact, BUT be ready for it. Anything magical will be his first priority to take down. As any shadowrunner, he hates mages and will geek them first.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Okay, the troll's turn, as you've used two simples."
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "So, the troll will barrel into the room , whirl around with his Astral Perception, and follow with a swing both mighty and expert. The disparity in reach is +1 in the troll's favor, and there is no close combat. He will attempt to center away the +2 tn for having to see astrally, and apply the +1 for reach offensively to lower his target number."

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "He saves his valuable karma pool for more dice rerolls, and takes Light Physical."

The troll bursts into a run. His strike is canny and expert, his pivot makes use of the whole room, and the axe's swing is designed for the center of mass, the hardest possible way to dodge. Yet still the nimble being pulls it out, manages to lick him with that fearsome monowire… and gives every intention of being able to see him just fine. The troll calls out, "He can see me!" He doesn't know for sure, but considering he just got hit, it's a pretty obvious guess.

Fixer is in a squat when the troll comes in. He rolls out of the way, following up with a low kick and then springing up back to his feet and a fighting stance. There are two invisible figures fighting, although Fixer's invisibility is electronic, so when his movements get faster, his image begins to sort of "jerk" or "screen drag". The human closes the distance, avoiding yet another ax swipe and lashing out. His technique is "unique" in a sense that he uses a boxing style art, like shadowboxing and the whip provides the extra reach and damage. The wire is pretty deadly to plain flesh and sometimes catches some light to show that it is here, flying in the air, cutting stuff up. But the angles are hard to get and a good position is needed to really get a good blow with this superior weapon. In the end, I guess, one can say, the weapon is superb, but the skill is less and so it does what it does, leaving the troll standing and pretty healthy.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Shaman."
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "The shaman will not so much burst in the room, but take cover in the hallway, peering in at the fight. Looking for that crucial line of sight. Looking to use his cheesiest possible spell, and of course, dropping the now-useless invisibility spell."

«Auto-Judge[]» Flint (#11485) rolls Initiative with a result of 23.
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "If the fight continues in the second pass, Flint will act on 23, as he can hear this and be alerted by Fixer."

1 2 2 3 4 11 = 1 Success
«Plot» Flint says, "fixer, spell resist rolls are 1:1 to karma spend for more dice, so you are at 18 kp.
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Your 4 successes have reduced his 4 successes to 0, Fixer takes no stun damage."

Cowering at the corner might not be the best plan for the shaman with the painted face. Yes, there's the guy, he can see him astrally while in the real world he's a kaleidoscopic blur of ruthenium straining to keep up with deft, almost perfect actions. he fires off the stunbolt, begging the guy to go down so he can end this insane run that the Yak just inveigled them into. Whoever heard of getting attacked at the meet?

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Second pass. Fixer. In the room is a Lightly wounded troll, a mage at the corner, and you."
«Plot» Fixer would like to spend a comple action to use athletic to increase his run speed and make a break for it. Two free actions to speak on radio and ask Flint for help.
«Auto-Judge[]» Fixer (#1804) rolls Athletics vs TN 4 for "Running":
3 3 11 = 1 Success
«Auto-Judge[]» Fixer (#1804) has the Attribute Quickness with the value '6 (9)'. (
Fixer's mind sort of drifts off into another plane where he battles for control. He is not really fighting the shaman, but rather a "sleep monster". All his muscles relax and his feet, arms and eyelids grow heavy. His heart fires more adrenaline (epinephrine) and his mind struggles to shake off the magic. He abandons his quest and sprints for the door, wall, corner, juke to the left, get the fuck out of here, feet don't fail me now. He comes over the comm, "Assist. Mages present. Invisible." is all he can mutter out as he focuses to find a best way out and to avoid the mage's eyes.
«Plot» Fixer covers 9 meters towards the front door.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Troll! The troll is in hot pursuit. He has only a quickness of 7, so he loses 2 meters on Fixer."

Waving his axe in a rage (it's totally a fake, he's ready to bring it down in a headcleave) the troll demonstrates 'troll parkour'. Whereas Fixer engages in bounding and flipping, the troll bulls right through the comparatively flimsy chairs and tables, not being slowed in the least. Still, feets-don't-fail-me-now is gaining distance. Could the troll axe him from behind? He could.. but that would leave him open to a counterstroke, and he's already bleeding. As it turns out, chasing the guy away is within his mission parameters.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Flint."
«Auto-Judge[]» Flint (#11485) has the Attribute Quickness with the value '6'.
Flint grunts and tosses the laser mic into the passenger seat, his hand opening the door and him jumping out. He starts towards the front of the resteruant, drawing his nighthawks as he moves. From the sounds inside things have gone to hell, and its best just to shoot anything he doesn't recognize as an ally or thier specific target.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Shaman."
The shaman moves forwards in the wake of all this running. He maintains cover, moving to the next corner. No parkour for him.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Third pass. Fixer. With your 9.33 meters, you will be at the front door should you choose to move that way."
«Plot» Fixer will continue untill he heads out from the restaurant, using normal speed.
Fixer slows down just slightly as the adrenaline wears off and he needs to better navigate between the hard objects and obstacles and people of course. He continues to head for the door in a rapid movement. He will open the ba'ab… Arabic for door.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Troll at 26"
What, the guy in the ruthie suit is running onto the street? What is he, crazy? He ain't running onto the street with his giant dikoted illegal combat axe. He veers to get behind one of the big pillars in the room where he can take cover and watch that door. And because he is a master of comedy as well as being a master of the axe, he takes one hand off of the axe to draw out the biggest shuriken you ever did see and huck it at Fixer's back as if to say, "There! Take that!" (He might just scar up the ruthenium.)
«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 6 vs TN 6 for "Close range for thrown weapons, +2 for running, no combat pool":
1 2 3 5 7 9 = 2 Successes
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "10L impact with 2 successes for Fixer."
The troll will even say, "Geddata here!"

«Auto-Judge[]» Fixer (#1804) rolls Combat Pool: 8 vs TN 4 for "CP is out, dodging":
1 1 1 2 2 2 3 4 = 1 Success
«Auto-Judge[]» Fixer (#1804) rolls Combat Pool: 8 - 1 vs TN 4 for "CP is out, dodging. Reroll #1. 14KP left":
1 2 3 4 4 5 8 = 4 Successes
Fixer uses the rest of his combat experience to break every possible LOS. Between the increased reflexes and the 6th sense for combat, he manages to doge, roll and take cover behind a small pile of trash. It provides enough concealment not to stop the attacks, but to get them misdirected enough to avoid any damage.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Flint - at the end of his movement this round he can be at the open door. He can look in, and see the troll, lax combat axe in hand, under heavy cover where he's behind a pillar, thorugh a door, and he'd have to fire past Fixer to get him. The shaman is still in the other room."
«Plot» Flint says, "Well, no point trying those tricky shots, so I'll just wait outside for fixer to run out, I'll hold the door open for him"

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Shaman - he uses his movement to get to the corner of the room where he can peek around the corner, sees a guy with two guns pointed at him, and pulls his head around the corner."

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "End of turn. All things refresh. Inits."

«Auto-Judge[]» Fixer (#1804) rolls Initiative with a result of 24.
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Troll 25, Fixer 24, Flint 19, Shaman 9"

The troll stands ready to destroy anyone who comes in the room. After all, he can reach them. But there's a two-gun fighter there and that means it's time to take precautions. He takes out his flashpak, loops it over his neck, and triggers it facing appropriately. He keeps cover, keeps his left hand on his axe, and continues, saying, "Beat it! You ain't wanted!" He's likely going to draw another shuriken of annoyance, but that's later.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Fixer"
«Plot» Fixer spends free to talk, spends free to hold action.
Commlink-Default> Fixer says, "What now?"

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "The shaman (Flint and Fixer have delayed down to 9)"
The shaman stays around the corner, and summons a hearth spirit.
«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 6 vs TN 5 for "F5 Hearth Spirit":

«Auto-Judge[]» Mr.Terrific (#7242) rolls 6 vs TN 5 for "Against 5m drain":

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "The shaman takes M stun drain."
The shaman says, "Oh ancestor spirits of this place, I know my land is not yours. But come forth to aid us against this illegal trespasser who uses obviously illegal military stealth hardware." It sounds like the shaman is a bit of a wit. And who knows what he's got around the corner.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Fixer and Flint now have actions that will expire at the end of the first pass."
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "by inits, Fixer, anything you want to do with your action?"
«Plot» Fixer expires his actions

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "It will land 3 meters from the optimum location you want it to land."
Flint holsters his pistols fairly quickly, even doing a fancy spin on them, then his hand moves rapidly into a pocket and throws something out with almost the same motion. A small oblong object bounces into the room and rolls past the troll.
«Auto-Judge[]» Flint (#11485) uses 1 of item 4: Gas Grenade (Neurostun X) from Grenades (#7452).

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Second pass. Troll. Hm."
Having no choice, the troll has to bust out the door or be gassed. "Grenade!" he shouts. That means that Flint is his target with the combat axe, reversing it for the deadly stabbing point on his charge. He'll likely be totally screwed in a minute but the grenade has forced his hand.
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "He is perhaps 5 meters from the door, so he gets 2-ish meters out the door and then uses his massive reach to make up the difference."
«Plot» Flint says, "Full defense Close Combat actually"

5 5 11 = 3 Successes
«Plot» Flint says, "15, I dodged"
Flint seems surprised the troll ran to attack, instead of actually running away, ohh well. He crouches and sidesteps, getting in close to the Troll and twisting around to move around the trolls side, letting the big creature actually run past him. It's close, his clothing almost gets caught on the axe, but he does manage to avoid the blade.

Well, that didn't work out the way the troll hoped. No spitted ork lying on the ground. He even had a nifty thing to say. First it was just an ork with two guns and this ruthie guy, now it's him with his axe all out on the street. Man, this sucks. "How about I keep running?" he asks politely.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Fixer, second pass"
«Plot» Fixer will move outside and attack the troll? Friend in melee?

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "If you want to leave him all gutted on the street. Blood splashing your ruthenium."

«Auto-Judge[]» Fixer (#1804) has the Armor Rating Impact with the value '0 (7)'.
«Auto-Judge[]» Fixer (#1804) rolls Body vs TN 3 for "Soaking S stun":
1 2 2 3 3 5 5 8 11 = 6 Successes

Fixer continues on his run to the outside, as the door is opened and the troll busts through, he follows closely behind sort of watching the grenade fly by him in slow mo. The grenade is an obvious indicator that he needs to get the dodge out of fuck. He sees the grenade go by, but not the type of grenade, so he continues to push on in a hurry, picking up movement of outside melee and jumping the troll from behind. He delivers a flying superman punch reaching for the trolls upper back or back of the skull quickly followed by a low football tackle knee block from behind and the strikes once he is on ground. This is he intent…

The troll's back elbow is weighty and strong, interrupting this combo. But it does look as if the kind of damage that is being used has toned down and there is some kind of attempt to de-escalate. Maybe. But that Flint is an instigator.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Second pass, Flint."
Flint spreads his hands out to his sides. "Run." This of course is said to the troll, Flint holds himself ready to strike, but doesn't move any yet.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Shaman move only."
The shaman backs further away towards the kitchen, taking cover from the gas that is to fill the front room. If he were to go where he could see the fightin' he'd get gassed, so this he doesn't do.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "The grenade goes off, gassing the front room."

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Third pass, Troll. Who runs."
Sure, he's a troll, he would have liked it if, like, he actually hit with his fearsomely dikoted combat axe. But it was not meant to be. At least he has been shown this small amount of respect. He breaks for the corner alleyway, putting various street bracken, like screaming passersby, between himself and Flint and Fixer.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Fixer."
«Plot» Fixer breaks contact and reforms.
Fixer disengages and closes to the ork team mate. In verbal voice he asks "Let's get the frag out of here." Waiting for the partner to take point towards the car and where he parked it.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific realizes that he totally flubbed the troll's Flashpak. Oh well.

Flint nods, and starts towards the car at a casual pace, not really trying to alarm the populace by running. He of course doesn't know there was a shaman inside, so he isn't worried about that, plus, no one's coming out the front door for at least a minute.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "No init is required from here. The troll turns the corner and activates PhysAd Stealthing Powers. The Shaman gets the troll's case and meets him out around back. People drive away. Your stolen car will likely be reported to the cops as the car that the crazy two-gun ork got into."

Fixer pauses outside the ride "So what now, do we reset and continue, or call it a day, or call the Jay and ask for further instructions?"

Flint grunts "Well, the cops are going to be questioning folks in the area, and that may or may not include our target. Depends on if he scrambles. He will probalby head home, so lets call the jay, deliver the intel about the orders he gave those two, and call it a day."

Fixer nods. He motions to the car "Take us a block away and then we will get a new one." he dials the J's number.

A woman's voice answers the phone. "Mosh-moshi?"

Fixer explains the situation to the Jay. Not the details, the general info. His Japanese is outstanding. He goes through this, this and that, now we are here, this happened. Standing by for instructions.

Flint drives, finding a spot to ditch the car so they can pickup a new one. He waits for Fixer to finish the phone conversation before he tries to make too much noise.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Since you hear a woman's voice, one may assume it is not the J himself, but someone related. She says, "You may return for your payment.""

Fixer suggests, depending on situation, lets maybe ditch the ride and take public transport or feet. To the pick up site.
«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "The ditching and redressing is complete."

Flint decides it's best to pick up a new ride, as he has very obvious guns, and permits, and he really doesn't want to flash his permits on a bus, cause that puts him near the scene.

Fixer will try and nab another car, something totally ordinary, like a Jackrabbit. And yes, he will make the ork sit in the back and suck it up. Time to acquire, 30 seconds total, time on target, 20 minutes according to grid guide traffic update.

«Plot» Mr.Terrific says, "Taking these precautions, you successfully escape to a higher-end area, to get to the original japanese restaurant where this all began. You are allowed upstairs and through the secured door to the 'back room'. The round-faced man is there, and with him is a woman best described as a 'miko.' She is japanese and garbed in white, kneeling in the corner to quietly converse with a large fire elemental. They both turn attentively to you as you enter. 'Tanaka' says, "I am glad you have returned. Please, tell me what has occurred.""

Flint reaches into a pocket and pulls out a chip, laying it on the table. "This would be the usual stuff, his meetings with various people, discussing payments and taking thier complaints. Things got a bit complicated once he arrived at Ghina Gardens.

Fixer enters and immediately becomes uncomfortable as if having a wedgie in his underwear that is permanent. He gives up everything, recordings, info, etc and is gonna get the fuck out of here, ASAP, fuck the money, any negotiations or conversations. Magic saturated air makes him sweat too fucking much.

'Tanaka' seems rather amused by Fixer's nervousness and the odd reversal in their attitudes, his currently letting the ork report and negotiate. "Do tell. What occurred there?" he asks.

Flint grunts "The target was meeting a team of runners. He asked them to force a man to graphically submit, and record it for him. That man's name was Izutsu Kaito."

'Tanaka' steeples his fingers classically. "And then what happened?" He has the look of a man who has heard what you just said before.

Fixer mentally runs a system check. This time he is definitely getting the fuck out of dodge. He uncomfortably and quietly stands and slowly creeps closer to exit.

Flint shrugs "Apparently one of the runners discovered us, and tried to take us down. The battle ended in a stalemate as both sides withdrew. The target was unharmed and we felt best to report the incident at that time."

'Tanaka' hmms and considers this for long enough to make things uncomfortable. The miko giggles softly, making Tanaka turn, and smile. He says, "Yes, it does seem as if our little brother has caught on to his continuous surveillance, and takes the time out of his day to hire runners to take them out. You have solved the mystery of our missing surveillance team. Well done." He slides over two certified credsticks, and the security door unlocks to let you out.

Flint nods and reaches out to take his credstick, slipping it into a pocket and rising to his feet. "Good day to you then." He will leave with Fixer, just in case anything funny happens, never expect things to go smoothly.

The nimble duo is unmolested on the way out, and when they are sufficiently far that they can actually look at the credsticks, they can see that they have received the promised bonus - they are each for 15,000y instead of 10,000y.
