101 Damnations

GM: Haley
Players: Darius, Dekkar, Haley, Lynx and Tundra
Synopsis: The team is hired to investigate a town that's gone to the dogs
Date: March 15th, 2070

«Plot» Haley says, "Okay, welcome to one of my plots. Some of you are familiar with how I run things, some are not so I will explain things. While I do not go out of my way to kill people, sometimes it happens because the dice do what the dice do. As such I require everyone on the plot to consent. This means that I am able to give better rewards for the plot because of the increased danger. Also, please keep OOC stuff to either the OOC command or to one of the plot rooms. My log file automatically edits out the standard prefix. If you need to say anything plot related please use the =<what you want to say> Plot emitter."

«Plot» Tundra says, "I consent, lets hope we don't all die."

«Plot» Dekkar says, "I consent."

«Plot» Lynx says, "I consent!"

For the most of you, information filters down through various contacts. There's a elf girl looking to hire some runners. She'll be waiting on the third floor of the Lyve Wyre. You'll recognize her by her blonde dreadlocks and she will be drinking something green. For Tundra the message is a little more direct, Haley calls her on the phone and says, "Hey Red, got a job," and tells her where to show up should she wish.

«Plot» Darius consents, belatedly.

«Plot» Lynx says, "I would like to research the Lyve Wyre, and find out the dress standard, and such."

«Plot» Haley says, "Pretty easy to find out, its a tech hangout a lot of wannabe deckers go there. The third floor is well known amongst the shadows for the fact it is a discreet meeting place, complete with built in White Noise Generators. It is in the CAS sector and clothing is anywhere from casual to flashy."

"Ye shouldnae drink that stuff ye know." Tundra says, as she makes her way up to the third floor. "It's about as good for ye as drinkin' battery acid." Apparently, Tundra feels pretty relaxed about doing a job for Haley. She moves to settle in opposite Haley, dressed in casual jeans and a loose shirt with the picture of a silver-gold wolf on it. Yay for having a wardrobe!

«Plot» Lynx says, "er, on the Matrix."

«Plot» Haley says, "Its pretty common knowledge :) No need to roll."

Darius, as always dressed to impress, makes his way into the Lyve Wyre. He glances about once he reaches the third floor, his vision shifting back and forth between physical and astral perception, before he finally moves towards Haley. He offers a nod of his head.

As she has discovered the atmosphere, and that the dress standard is pretty lax, Lynx shows up at the meet point on the third floor in her preferred mode of dress: casual. She scans the crowd with normal blue eyes before settling back on a blonde with dreads. She watches warily for about a minute, but her need for income pushes her forward. She stands seemingly at ease, ready to meet and greet.

Dekkar proceeds through the door sporting some slightly faded black jeans and an olive collared button-down shirt. Practically formal attire for him. He proceeds right to the stairs without so much as scanning the crowd. He wasn't here for them. Up to the third floor he went, locating the correct person and nodding at the others who were already there. He takes a seat at the nearest logical spot, and looks everyone over, thinking for a minute before a smile and a nod at the lady with the green drink.

A glass sits before Haley with a clear green liquid. She holds a wide spoon over the top of it with a small white cube resting on it. Holes have been artfully carved into the spoon. She lifts a small bottle of water and begins pouring it over the cube melting it into the green drink. Giving Tundra a grin she says, "Oi always wanted ta see the faeries." Her Brooklyn accent distinct and a bit high pitched. As the other runners take a seat she presses the button for the white noise generator. The small disk begins to hiss and drown out their conversation and prevent others from eavesdropping.

"Ye donae want tae see fairies, Haley." Tundra replies, her own, rather distinctive Scottish accent just as thick. She takes note of the others as they make their way closer, and nods her head in greeting to them. "Leastways, not if ye can help it. Jus' trouble, by all accounts." The redheaded elf stretches a little bit as she adds. "I hope that isnae why you got the gang together. Last thing I need right now I donae mind telling ye."

Taking a sip of her absenthe, Haley looks over the gathered runners and she says to Tundra, "Ah nah Red, this is biz." She gets as serious as she can and says, "Oi'll start out by lettin' ya know who Oi am. My name is Haley, or you can call me Cookie. I answer ta both." Reaching into the flap of her purse she says, "Oi have a job that needsa be taken care of. The people Oi have been contacted by are willin' ta pay allya fifteen thousand ta find out why things have been going a little hinky around town.

Darius takes the seat as the job is being explained, and he nods his head a little. "Mr. Grey." he introduces. "Do you have any more… specific information than that?" he asks.

Lynx makes herself comfortable in her chair, with a smile and nod for those also at the table. Eyeing the drink their host has curiously, she opts not to order that kind. After the Scotswoman speaks, she smiles a bit, giving her a more thorough once-over. She crosses her ankles under the table, pulls a tube out of her pocket, and applies some clear lip balm before tucking it back into her pocket. Rubbing her lips together, she nods, and then speaks up, "I'm Lynx. I do electronics. Not so good with the decking yet."

Thinking for a brief moment, Dekkar then speaks. "I can certainly help liberate some information. I have a knack for getting into secured places… I'm in." He then adjusts himself into his seat with almost a twitching motion three times in succession. It looks awkward but he seems relaxed by it. "Tell me specifically what you've got, and I'll tell you how I…" He glances around the table. "How I can help us help you."

Tundra shrugs her shoulders a little, "Ye'll only get yerself in trouble if I donae come with ye." She decides, before she looks to Lynx, with a nod of her head. "I'm Tundra. Wolf guides my steps, an' leads me in th' hunt. Donae know how much use I'll be trackin' down answers to questions, but I'll make sure nae spirit nor mage lays a finger, magical or otherwise, on yer head."

Pulling out a datachip, Haley says, "Sure, got it all right here." She looks over the others and she smiles saying, "Well Oi don't know what all it'll take so Oi wanted ta get some magic people and some tech people. Oi put out the word and allayas were sent ta me." She grins and places the chip on the table saying, "The dogs around the township of Bennet have been goin'a bit nutso. They're okay durin' the day but at night they're a terror. People are scared to come outta their houses. What's more, they say its like Bennet is becomin' like a dog Mecca or somethin'. Mutts comin' from all over."

Darius considers for a few moments at the new information, "I think I heard about Bennet in the news a while ago. it's been a magical hotspot for years." he says, "I'll happily help you research it, but at first guess I would say it is likely a magical phenomenon."

Dekkar looks confused for half of a second during the explanation, but then relaxes to a more neutral expression. "Oh yeah, and my name's Dekk. At any rate, this one's gonna be tough as I'm not so magical, but rest assured I can help with meatside reconaissance and entry, and a little force if necessary."

Lynx frowns at the info. "I'm new to the area, so I don't know much about Bennet. But if there's something messing with the dogs' minds, it's likely messing with their systems, poor dogs." She glances over at Darius and nods in acknowledgement. "If it's magical…" She leaves that thought hanging in the air, choosing not to finish it, after all. She nods also to Dekkar. "Pleasure to meet you all."

Tundra nods in agreement. Yup. Probably magical, and having more people around to help poke around magical stuff was always advisable. "Do we hae a time it started? Should make it easier tae figure if'n there's somethin' new in th' area. A cat sanctuary, f'r instance."

Placing the chip on the table Haley says, "Oi'll letcha awl take a look at the chip an' figure out how ya want ta go about it." She nods her head to Tundra and she says, "Well its 12:00 now, so Oi guess ya have about five howas until dark." She scratches the side of her head as she says, "Oi won't be able ta go witcha on this one though Red, Oi gotta arrange for other things."

As everyone gets a chance to look over the chip the information, while a little more complete than a fixer do-you-want-the-job blurb it is still a little vague. Three days ago the people of Bennet have started to notice things going wrong with the dogs. During the day they shy away from people, refusing to come to them, or come inside houses. At night they prowl the street in large packs. All totaled the pets dogs in Bennet number fifteen, however packs of twenty and thirty dogs have been counted. The sheriff and deputies went out one night to try to figure out what was going on, but they never returned. Their patrol cars were found parked outside of the abandoned truck stop east of town. The windows smashed in and blood coating the interiors.

Darius nods his head a bit and he hrms. "Well, it certainly seems very unusual." And he glances about. "I'll scout out on the astral, but I'll also bring my Gabriel Hound, see how she reacts to the situation." He eexplains to the others then. "I'll also use a… technique I have elarned, known as Sensing, to examine the astral fabric once we get there."

Dekkar snickers at the thought of a cat sanctuary drawing dogs in for miles, and spends a second processing that. He looks around the table. "I say we have a diverse enough bunch here to disect this. Looks like we even have a starting point on the recon, and several methods by which to conduct it, before we even move in."

«Plot-Page» (To: Darius) Haley says, "You might lose your Gabriel Hound, just a warning."

«Plot-Page» (To: Haley) Darius says, "That's fine."

«Plot-Page» (To: Haley) Darius says, "They are awakened critters, and very intelligent, though, so they should get a chance tor esist stuff that would affect mundane animals."

Lynx purses her lips, frowning. "Yes, I think we can do some good planning before nightfall. Is there a deadline, or just…as soon as possible?"

Tundra shakes her head slightly, "Tha's a bad idea, pal." She says to Darius. "I can come wit' ye on the Astral if ye want. But donae take yer dog wit' ya. Worst case scenario, ye wind up needin' to put th' poor bitch down. Save her in reserve, eh? If'n all th' other stuff dosnae bear fruit. The blood is makin' me think whatever it is, it ain't somethin' ye want tae touch any pup of yours, aye?"

To Lynx' question Haley says, "Soon as ya can, if you're not done by mornin', Oi hafta call in other people. They've got a lotta kids out there an' they don't want the dogs ta start draggin' 'em off."

Darius considers for a moment, "You may be right. Gabriel Hounds are somewhat more… resillient than normal animals, and I can subdue her non-lethally if neccecary. But, if the change is permanant, then I would rather not risk her." he considers. "Either way, we should examine the area thoroughly."

Dekkar nods at the sensical ideas of Tundra. "I think we're gonna need to be prepared to deal with something dangerous meatside, but can you magic users give or suggest anything us not so astrally-connected folk can do if it's something we need to protect ourselves from? If we're in your hands, so be it, but magic is out of my league."

Lynx nods in agreement. "I can use a pistol, but I'm not so good. I know I couldn't handle packs of 15, 20 dogs, especially if more than one pack shows up. We might want to stake out on rooftops, if that's at all possible, to keep safe…It doesn't sound like a technical effect to me, but I'd like to keep an open mind. Will we be going to Bennet to recon before nightfall? It might be a good idea. I suppose we'll need to get our hands on serious armor."

Darius nods his ehad, "Well, should we locate the target from the astral, we will need to investigate it on foot. Engaging… whatever this is astrally would be hazardous."

Tundra gives Lynx a bit of an odd look, "Chances are ye'll mostly need tae be ready aginst dogs. Nae more armor than normal, I wouldnae think." Then she looks to Dekkar. "But aye, lad, there's plenty ye can do, even if we are dealin' wit' a spirit." She leans closer, a little, and clears her throat. "Lil' known fact, but chances are, if'n it's somethin' -you- canae hurt yerself, with a big gun or yer mits, it'll tie Grey an' I up tae handle it. Which means, we'll need ye two makin' sure nay stray little wee doggie rips out our throats whilst we keep busy." She gives a little laughs, "Rule number two, aye? Watch yer mage, someone is tryin' tae frag him. Assumin' o'course that ye cannae just shoot it. Tha' works more'n ye might think."

Darius nods his head. "Well then, I suppose we should ehad out- we can come to a better conclusion once we have seen the area. How are we going to get there? Should we travel together?"

That settled Haley says, "Well then," she pulls out four credsticks and hands them to each runner saying, "Here's your first half. When you're done Oi'll give ya the second half."

Dekkar nods. "I doubt it'd make sense to split up at this point, as we have established our need to be together in the face of any risk." He looks to Haley. "Outstanding. These creds are well placed." He glances around the table. "Who's driving? Sure isn't me at this point.."

"Oh, I meant more than a longcoat. A dog's teeth could rip something like that to pieces, if he's in a right rage. But now I think about it, there's probably not enough time to get my hands on something like that. I'll have to pass, and survive on wits and a gun alone," Lynx says. She looks around the table, gives Haley a half-smile and nod. "Thanks. This'll come in handy if we come back alive. I have a car, if no one else does."

Tundra hefts up her bag, "I donae drive." She says, and, after a moment. "Leastways, not if I can help it. If ye want tae borrow my armor, I donae mind, jus', then I'll have tae put my trust in ye even more, eh?" That said, she seems to concentrate for a moment. It might even look like she has suddenly got a bit of vertigo… leaning against the table just a little hard for a moment.

«Plot» Tundra says, "For the record- putting 4 dice of Spell Defense over myself, Dekkar, Darius, and Lynx. For as long as we are together."

«Plot» Haley says, "Noted."

«Plot» Haley says, "Okay, if everyone feels firmed up on the plan we can cut to the township of Bennet."

«Plot» Dekkar says, "I'm good to go."

«Plot» Tundra nods.

«Plot» Lynx says, "Works for me!"

«Plot» Darius says, "Onward!"

The Township of Bennet is something that time seems to have skipped over. Not quite a large town and by far a different place from the Denver metroplex. Here is good place to raise some kids. If only they had a billboard. The streets are fairly empty, the 'down town' only has a little bit of business by the people that can't afford to stay in. Because the team is looking for them, they notice the number of dogs. Some milling about in pairs, or trios. Others laying about on the downtown sidewalk or moving around on their own.

«Auto-Judge[]» Lynx (#9134) puts on her "Camo Full Suit"<=Clothing (#6783, Item 2).

«Plot» Haley says, "Okay, you're up guys :)"

«Auto-Judge[]» Dekkar (#6641) puts on his "Form-Fitting Armor FullSuit"<=armor (#9431, Item 1).
Set.

While there's not a thing Lynx can do as far as magic, she does take note of the dogs and their locations, numbers. She also tries to see if there's a thicker concentration of dogs at any particular place in the little town. "Wow. That's a lot of dogs. I guess it's pointless to try to befriend them. Tundra, do you think your wolf stuff would be able to help calm them, maybe, or turn them away?"

«Plot» Darius says, "I'd like to use my sensing metamagic to scan a 1km radius for astral anomolies."

«Plot» Haley says, "Perception test please Lynx."

«Plot» Haley says, "You may roll it Darius."

«Plot» Darius says, "Int+grade test, TN is 4 modified by BG count and wards, number of successes determiens info gained"

«Auto-Judge[]» Lynx (#9134) rolls Intelligence for "Perception test":
2 2 5 8 10 10

«Plot» Darius will center agaisnt BG count

«Plot» Haley says, "Normally you call that before, but I will allow it. I forget it sometimes too."

«Auto-Judge[]» Darius (#9060) rolls Centering vs TN 3 for "TN4+BG Count 1-Initiative Grade 2":
2 2 3 = 1 Success

«Auto-Judge[]» Darius (#9060) rolls Intelligence + 2 (Initiate grade) vs TN 5 for "Sensing Metamagic":
3 4 4 5 9 11 11 14 = 5 Successes

«Plot-Page» (To: Lynx) Haley says, "With your perception roll you're notcing the dogs are less concentrated the further west they get of town."

«Plot-Page» (To: Darius) Haley says, "Things are feeling a little toxic. The area isn't changed into a toxic site but there's the twinge of it in the astral. Some bad mojo has been used around town."

Darius steps out of their transport, and he glances about. he looks to the other caster, "If you would like to assense one of the dogs, I'll get to work scannign the area for any astral anomolies." he explains. He closes his eyes and begins to murmur in Aramaic for just a moment, before his eyes snap open suddenly, and a hand goes to his temple. "Toxic maic." he mutters.

«Plot» Tundra shall Assense the group of dogs.

«Plot» Haley says, "Roll please"

«Auto-Judge[]» Tundra (#9164) rolls Intelligence vs TN 5 for "Assensing test, base 4+1 BG":
3 3 4 5 8 11 = 3 Successes

«Plot-Page» (To: Tundra) Haley says, "The dog you check has no diseases, they're not awakened nor have they been touched by technology. They do however have hints of magic on them, they're under the effects of a spell."

«Plot-Page» (To: Haley) Darius says, "If the BG count has increased anywhere within a kilometer recently, I should be able to detect exactly where and by how much"

Tundra can't help but smirk a little at that. "I could calm 'em down fer a certain value'a calm." She says. And then, to clarify. "Wolf hasnae blessed my steps wit' power over animals. Unless ye want me tae render'm unconscious, or dead, there isnae much I can do to 'em. Sorry lass."

When Darius asks her to assense the dogs, the elf turns her attention in that direction. She doesn't keep her attention in the Astral any longer than is strictly necessary, however. Cutting it off shortly after Darius winces. "Ach. Toxic." She mutters, reaching into her back to produce a punching dagger. "Oh aye, this's gonnae go well. There's a spell on the mutts. We kin try tae dispell it, but if'n we do, we best be ready fer a whole mess of badness tae come down real fast."

«Plot-Page» (To: Darius) Haley says, "No change in background count yet."

«Plot-Page» (To: Lynx) Haley says, "As you look at the concentrations of the dogs, they are in larger packs going east. Where downtown you'd see one dog, east a few blocks you'd see two, further on three."

Darius ponders. "Aside form a generally toxic aura, I can't detect any specific anomolies. The dogs are udner a spell, you say?" he considers for a moment. "We could attempt a ritual to locate the source… but I suppose we may attract the attention of the source by simply destroying the spell."

With her brows knit and mouth frowning, Lynx quietly points out, "I don't know if this helps at all, but the dogs are /less/ concentrated the farther west of town they get. So…my guess would be that whatever's doing this is located…more east." She looks to Dekkar and frowns. "If some big mess of badness comes down, we'd…yeah. Just be ready, I guess." She leaves the car, making sure everyone else is clear of it, and locks it, pocketing the keys. Checking her gun, she makes sure it's ready for action, too.

«Auto-Judge[]» Dekkar (#6641) rolls Intelligence for "Have I heard of this before?":
1 3 3 4 5 8

«Plot-Page» (To: Dekkar) Haley says, "You remember vaguely about something like this happening in Seattle. The animals in a few block's radius started acting strange. Turned out it was a Gabriel Hound behind it, but this is a lot larger than a few blocks."

Dekkar speaks up as he clears the vehicle. "I do recall one event similar to this that I heard about back when I was stationed in Seattle… A Gabriel Hound was responsible. But it was only a few blocks, not a whole town, that was affected. That's just what I heard, I can't say I have any idea if Gabriel Hounds vary enough in strength for one to be this strong.. or what. You magical ones got any ideas on that?" Dekkar looks to Tundra and then to Darius.

Dariusc onsiders for a moment, and then nods his head. "it is possible that a mutant or toxic gabriel hound could be more powerful than they usually are. And it would certainly help explain what is going on here."

As Lynx exits the car one of the dogs looks over at her and stands up. The animal stretches as it moves from its 'I was comfortable' to a 'now I have to stand up' zone. It gives a short bark, a browlf. However the bark is picked up by a second dog, then a third. The barking chain drifts through town.

Tundra nods to Lynx, "Good spot." She says, "Tha'd be the place to start, I think." Then, she's looking to Dekkar. "Don't know meself." She admits, "But… the way I see it, the rooftop idea might be th' best way ta go. We need tae deal with the source of the problem. If'n we can find a defensible position, Grey and I can try tae dispel whatever is on th' dogs, an' we'll need you two tae help keep our eyes open an' find the big—" And the dogs start barking. She sighs. "Tha's nae a good sign."

"That's /never/ a good sign," Lynx agrees, and immediately takes another note of the dogs that are barking, the ones that are close, and the ones that may now be heading this way. "I think we're surrounded. We need to get to a rooftop ay-sap…" And as an afterthought, she adds, "Please?"

Dekkar speaks up again, after slapping on some advanced looking goggles with several tiny buttons and toggles on the side. "Lemme take a look around us with some of this hardware…" After pushing a few buttons, Dekkar also reaches for his Predator, and starts looking around.

Darius nods his head, "A high place would be good. He pulls from his jacket what looks like… well, just a little black handle- nothing seems to be attached. Until he grips a weighted tab at the top, and then pulls on it. It's still almost impossible to see, but in just the right light,t here's the hairline glimmer of a monofilament fiber."

«Plot» Tundra says, "Okay, going to summon a force 7 City spirit. Or at least try to."

«Plot» Haley says, "Go for it Tundra."

«Auto-Judge[]» Tundra (#9164) rolls Conjuring - 2 vs TN 7 for "Summoning force 7 City spirit, -2 for drain.":
1 3 3 5 = 0 Successes

«Auto-Judge[]» Tundra (#9164) rolls Conjuring - 2 vs TN 7 for "Summoning force 7 City spirit, -2 for drain. KP:1":
2 3 5 7 = 1 Success

«Auto-Judge[]» Tundra (#9164) rolls Charisma + 2 vs TN 7 for "Soaking M Drain":

«Auto-Judge[]» Tundra (#9164) rolls Charisma + 2 - 1 vs TN 7 for "Soaking M Drain KP:2/2":
1 1 2 2 3 4 5 9 10 = 2 Successes

«Plot» Haley says, "1 service, Light stun."

«Plot» Tundra says, "Take an L wound. I believe I have to wait a round before I can give it a command."

«Auto-Judge[]» Dekkar (#6641) rolls Intelligence for "Perception Test; Thermal vision, animal stress/agitation level":
1 3 4 5 5 7

«Plot-Page» (To: Dekkar) Haley says, "They're getting heated up, their agitation is increasing their body temperature. You see them starting to move into pairs."

Dekkar looks around, and reports. "Okay guys, these dogs are getting pissed. We need to get to higher ground now. Start looking for the best way up, and tell the rest of us if you see something obvious…"

Tundra is not particularly hopeful about the barking. That meant something big was coming, and she could do without being here when it turns up. She nods to Lynx, "Everyone, try tae back up an' look… inconspicuous." She says, loudly. For an instant, it isn't Tundra who is standing next to the car, but a woman with the head of a silver-grey wolf. There's a loud "AWOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

And from the ground rises a mass of garbage roughly the size of a troll. Ghostly and incorporeal, the creature turns its head this way and that, taking in the situation into which it had been brought. The strain has obviously taken some toll on Tundra, however, a light sheen of sweat beading on her features.

«Plot-Page» (To: Haley) Lynx says, "Lynx is looking for a way to climb high, like a fire escape that can be pulled up when everyone's up it, or a rickety staircase leading to a roof, or even a flat roof with a door on it that obviously comes from inside."

«Plot-Page» (To: Lynx) Haley says, "Perception check!"

«Auto-Judge[]» Lynx (#9134) rolls Intelligence for "Search test for "A Way Up."":
1 2 2 2 2 4

«Plot-Page» (To: Lynx) Haley says, "Sorry, nothing jumps out at you. Well a dog might in the near future, but not a way up."

«Plot» Haley says, "Go ahead with your spirit Tundra."

3 3 4 4 5 8

«Auto-Judge[]» Lynx (#9134) rolls Intelligence for "Search test for "A Way Up."":
1 2 3 4 5 9

«Plot-Page» (To: Dekkar) Haley says, "Because you are using thermographic vision you catch it. A small humanoid form on the other side of the dogs. You see it run around the corner heading east."

«Plot-Page» (To: Lynx) Haley says, "Because you are using normal vision, you see something that doesn't quite fit. One of the dogs looks a little like a coyote, but a deformed looking one."

"Great an' honorable spirit." Tundra says, bowing her head a little, "Please, we need yer help tae clean th' pestilence tha' taints this place. Hide us from its sight, an' we shall do all we can tae rid the city o' this foe afore the night is through."

The Spirit seems to focus more on the Shaman as she speaks and, when she is done. The four Runners are treated to a lingering scent of garbage on the wind as it swirls around and then, it reforms- perfectly visible to the Runners- behind Tundra. Where it would hopefully remain until its obligation is fulfilled.

Tundra then whispers somewhat more harshly, "We can see each other, with luck, they cannae see us. Keep. Quiet. An' we can press towards th' West."
«Plot» Haley says, "Stealth checks from everyone please."

«Auto-Judge[]» Tundra (#9164) rolls Stealth:

Dekkar speaks up after a quiet period of continued obervation. He speaks in a quiet tone through the garbage-enhanced breeze. "A small person just took off to the east."

«Plot» Haley says, "Okay the dogs have pretty much spotted Darius. They're picking up speed and attacking. So Tundra, Dekkar and Lynx you can make surprise rolls."

«Plot» Haley says, "Dog is down, knocked out."

«Plot» Haley says, "Soon as Dekkar poses, the pose is yours Lynx. Next up on our surprise rounds, Tundra!"

Dekkar's expression does not even change as he hears the much increased pattering of paws indicative of an attack. He leans forward in a squared stance with a slight pivot on his right foot to line up with the most dangerous looking of the oncoming dogs. His gun comes up and the safety comes off almost automatically as his left hand wraps around the gun and his right hand to support a proper firing position, flicking the safety upon arrival. Without even directly using the sights, Dekk aims within his goggles, so fast within his mind that he feels almost as if he's taking his time and his expression reflects this. He pulls the trigger smoothly, his Predator III remaining pefectly steady as the bullet is fired. The first round glides right under the chin of the ugly hound and right into the unprotected area just above the collar bone, sailing right through the animal's entire body cavity, striking bone rather then exiting, and doing even more damage. The resulting shock halts the forward effort of the animal, and before gravity can even take it to the ground, a second smooth pull of the trigger put another bullet through the open jaw and down its neck, destroying any chance it had of ever getting up again. It went down, tumbled a bit, and came to rest in a pool of its own blood.

«Plot» Tundra says, "I'm going to try and hit as many dogs as I can with a stunball (6 meter radius) without hitting any teammates."

«Plot» Haley says, "You can get 4 of them, pair 3 and pair 4. Lynx downed one in pair 1, Dekkar dropped Precious like a hot iron."

1 3 3 3 3 3 5 5 = 7 Successes

«Plot» Haley says, "Even if they maxed out all three of their dice, they couldn't resist that. So you knock them all out."

More than a little nervous, Lynx fires off two shots, aiming for one of the dogs that's edging up close, menacing the group, or whomever the dogs are menacing. The sounds echo between the buildings a little bit, and Lynx tries not to close her eyes to block the dog being injured. But she's using gel rounds, and the dog is knocked out, rather than dead, and Lynx exhales in explosive relief as she remembers it's non-lethal ammunition.

The dog she hit yelps with the first impact, and again with the second, as it goes limp and collapses in the street.

Tundra lets her protection withdraw from the team. These are dogs, after all, and there had been no sign that any of them were -sorcerous- dogs. Hopefully, this wouldn't prove to be a mistaken.

Instead, she focuses her power on the two pairs at the back. From around her neck she withdraws a necklace with a single fang suspended on it, which she holds tight. There's no words, just the steady awareness of the beating of paws on ground, and then, for the second time in a relatively short period, a howling 'AWOOOOOOOOOOO!' echoes from her lips. For an instant, her eyes are slitted and fangs are clearly visible as she focuses the mana against her enemies…

It's rather subdued, really, compared to the noise and the image. The four dogs just… trip over themselves in mid-stride, and come to a gentle halt.

«Plot» Haley says, "3 dogs left. While they were going after Darius they noticeably shift targets and rush at Dekkar."

Dekkar does not even flinch as he steps forward with his right foot, pivoting on his left, only bending a little as he realigns with his next target and pulls the trigger almost before he's in position to aim! One dog from the remaining pair catches a well placed bullet through the roof of the mouth and goes down stiff without even making a sound. Dekk quickly engages his second target with a shot through the chest cavity of the other, punching a lung out but not completely stopping the animal.

«Plot» Haley says, "Okay, we're out of combat here as the remaining injured dog is limping off not wanting to be in the fight anymore. So after Lynx' pose I need perception (hearing) checks from everyone."

After a short reaction to her last two shots, Lynx takes aim at a different dog. Pressing her lips tightly together, she mumbles something no one else can make out, and squeezes the trigger two more times in rapid succession.

The dog Lynx fired at again yelps and falls over, knocked unconscious from the force of impact. It's not dead, and may yet wake up in time to be a danger before this is all over, but for now, it is out of commission.

«Plot-Page» (To: Dekkar, Tundra, and Darius) Haley says, "You three hear it, in addition to the howling of the dogs, you hear a humanoid howling. Letting Lynx know about the dog's howling please save poses for a moment. I am scene setting."

The wounded dog limps off, licking at it's wound trying to ease the ache. With the deformed looking hound dead on the ground a sharp howl comes up from the town. There has to be almost a hundred canine voices all unified in their mournful wail.

Dekkar speaks up amidst the howling. "I hear that damn kid or whatever it is in there too.. I saw him before the dogs attacked too. It ran off to the east."

Darius frowns a little, and he considers this for a few moments. "There's something else… some… human." He says, "Or humanoid, at least. Amongst the canines."

Tundra grits her teeth, and takes a tighter grip on her punching dagger. "We got 'em riled up." She says, "We donae have time tae find high ground, get behind th' car an' we'll try tae hold our own. Hard tae tell how many there act'lly are, but shoot fer anythin' on two legs first."

Dekkarius nods. "I've got my gun at the ready, and I can kill 6 of em before the first one notices I might be shooting…"

Lynx looks from one companion to another. "A human? A kid? That's just great. We gotta take the kid out in order to get the dogs back to normal?" The concept is something she has a hard time wrapping her head around. "Right…Defense at the car." She runs over toward the car, ready to hunker down and take cover. "I can shoot…but not six!"

Strain shows on his features as he leans into the attack on this spirits essense, as even to the mundanes- they can see the effect of the energy between the through in the sudden localized wind, the way his voice carries.

«Plot» Lynx says, "two shots."

«Plot» Haley says, "You can run after Dekkar."

«Plot» Lynx says, "does that take me through the dogs?"

Darius covers behind as the Toxic shaman makes himself known. Tundra hears Dekkar's shout, and that means she just has to worry about the front.

This is not a time for subtly. Darius is shouting in some strange language behind her, and the world is full of the baying of hounds. But she'd faced off against the fearsome Fenrir, and lived to tell the tale. She wasn't going to be intimidated by any ordinary dog, no matter how many of them there might be.

There is, for a moment, a baleful snarl which seems to cut through the howling dogs. The air around them full with the heavy intent that comes just a second before the predator strikes. If they were smarter, or not compelled, they might hesitate. Instead, the front massed rank of animals go down, it doesn't stop the entire horde, of course, but twenty are brought low in one terrifying blast of mana.

«Plot» Haley says, "Yes it would."

Lynx watches in horror as something starts to materialize, then she looks at the little guy on the roof, and then at Dekkar closing the distance between himself and the humanoid leader of the pack. She's convinced herself that should she end up amidst the dogs, she'd go down and get eaten alive, so she stays where she is, and fires two shots, her preferred MO.
The dog goes unconscious with the second hit, and that leaves one less dog to eat the shadowrunners.

He leaps off the ground in a direction perpendicular to his run in a sudden, effective change of direction, guiding himself perfectly to the rungs of a fire escape. Darius's booming voice contineus to spout that ancient tongue, Suddenly his extended hand snaps shut, and he winks the spirit back out of existance. "You DARE poison this land with your abberant ways?" he asks then. He might not be a Shaman, but he has a certain respect for the nature of magic, even as a Hermetic mage.

The situation for the team is not quite desperate, but it is a challenge. Lynx' car serves as cover from the dog pack charging them from the front. Tundra's quick thinking dropped a third of their number, but did not stop them all. Lynx is taking careful shots dropping dog after dog.
From behind the team Darius and Dekkar have noticed action. Dekkar spotted the small shaman on the rooftop of a building and charged in that direction. Leaping before looking, maybe, but it was something that needed to be done. Darrius spotted a toxic spirit being summoned and through quick use of the magical skills he has honed over the years he managed to banish it. A couple dogs from a smaller pack advancing behind the party tried to take out Dekkar who leaped to safety climbing up a fire escape.

@Dekkar's task is simple but critical. Clear of a few dogs, he needed to get to a vantage point where he could see Growler. He finished his ascent up the fire escape in a series of jerky movements, one hand and one foot over the other in succession, but with such dexterity as to make his overall rate of movement pretty fluid looking from a distance. As he came over the top of the fire escape's ladder, he sprawled prone on the roof, Predator III at the ready.

«Plot» Lynx says, "I'm going to climb on top of the car, and if I can in addition, shoot. But probably just climb on top of the car."

«Plot» Haley says, "That's a good image. So I'll allow you to get on top of the car and you'll get one shot as well."

Darius glances back away from Growler when the toxic spirit is cast back away and looks to the dogs forming up behind the group. He barks a word in Aramaic, and holds out his hand, sending out a wave of manage which renders the group of dogs back there unconscious..

«Plot» Haley says, "Good shot you got the alpha of that pack! The group wavers a little but then surges forward."

«Plot» Haley says, "Tundra!"

Lynx is concerned about the dogs coming from both directions! She takes the opportunity to scramble up on top of the car, not that it's going to be all /that/ effective, but it will help a little, she hopes. She's ready to take on more dogs, though, and aims her gun for a shot at the pack coming from the front. It must be hard to miss, because somehow, she keeps hitting! The lead dog of the pack falls with a pained yelp, but while the rest of them waver, it is only for a moment, as they surge forward.

«Plot» Tundra says, "Going to go for a stunball on the front of the pack"

«Plot» Haley says, "Granted."

«Plot» Haley says, "Growler had to give up her control over the dogs for a moment to cast her spell. Now they're running, this doesn't make her happy, not one bit. So she's going to send an acid wave down at the group."

Tundra capitalizes on the moment that Lynx makes. The leader falls, the dogs hesitate…

There's a dark snarl, and all of a sudden Tundra is leaping over the hood of the car. The woman brandishes her dagger high above her head, and glares this way and that. Mana rips through the front ranks of the massed dogs, and more fall unconscious as the woman snaps and snarls in front of the car. Warding them off as much as she can… her eyes glow, slitted and yellow, with long, dangerous-looking fangs in her mouth.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the dogs begin to retreat. Cowed by the display of magical prowess and animal fury.

"Ah, sometimes cruder methods are needed to deal with magical threats." He murmurs, and then he pulls the trigger, with a muffled 'Poot', sending a gel-filled capsule hurtling at supersonic speed towards the target.

Dekkar takes his sweet time, aiming for nearly a full two seconds, which feels like ages, as he props his elbows on the roof to steady his aim. Dekk knows better than to think virtually anything, as he slowly squeezes the trigger with rock-steady aim, focusing his vision on his smartlink reticle. The bullet, not by any means gel, as Dekk was not paid enough to exercise that kind of restraint, hurls forth, flat and level, toward Growler.

Between the spell she cast at the group, the slug from Dekkar's well aimed shot and the one Darius hits her with, its too much for Growler to handle. She slumps forward over the small wall she was using to prop on and she falls head first down to the street below. There's a sickening thump as she lands lifeless on the ground below. The dogs scatter, confused as their leader falls from most high. The streets are quiet, thanks to the quick work of the team of runners.

«Plot» Haley says, "Any last things you all wish to do, or should I wrap this up, edit it and submit it?"

«Plot» Tundra says, "I'd like to heal Dekkar."

«Plot» Haley says, "Roll away :)"

«Plot» Tundra's rather unique approach to doing this may give him cause to pause, however, so I'll pose first. ;P

The splash of toxins wash over Tundra despite her best effort to get out of the way. The burning substance is painful, but, thankfully, years of sharpening her senses lead her to roll with it. The burning sensation hurts, but when the dogs scatter, she relaxes. The worst of the burn has eaten through her sleeve, so the red-headed elf draws the fabric up, revealing a smattered burn. Then, she closes her eyes, she brings her arm to her mouth, and starts licking. When she draws away, the singing of her skin her abated.

The next moment, she is walking up to Dekkar. "Ye look like ye took a nasty nip." She comments, gesturing. "Show me where it hurts an' I'll fix it up for ye."
