Invoking

Invoking

Invoking is a Metamagical technique that allows a conjuring mage - shamanic, hermetic or otherwise to call up a Great Form spirit of a kind they would summon normally. In other words, Hermetics will summon Great Form Elementals, Shamans will summon Great Form Nature spirits, Voudoun will summon Great Form Loa, etc, etc.

Great Form Bonus Table
+1 Armor 1
+1 Body 1
+1 Reach 2
The Initiate must declare beforehand that they're summoning a Great Form spirit, and how to allocate the bonus attribute points (equal to half his Grade) as per the table to the right.
  • Make the Conjuring test (and soak Drain) as usual. Then once the spirit appears, immediately make a second Conjuring test, at a TN of twice the spirit's Force minus the Initiate's Grade.
    • If the second Conjuring test yielded no successes, the spirit remains regular sized but becomes uncontrolled.
    • If the second test yielded any successes the spirit grows into its Great Form.
    • The second Drain test also has a TN of twice the spirit's Force minus the Initiate's Grade.
      • If the Initiate goes unconscious due to the second drain, the Great Form spirit goes uncontrolled. (This is the rest of the team's cue to start running. Quickly).
    • The number of services owed by the spirit is determined by the regular test, not the second test.
    • Any successes from Centering on the first test, whether for success, or against drain or penalties, apply to the second test as well.
