While it does not provide the same level of protection as that found with security or military-rated models, it provides additional protection with minimal weight or loss of combat efficiency. The densiplast helmet can have a myriad of attachments. The Ares HD-2 is a standard design which can be used to represent the vast number of variations from differing companies and governments. Game Notes: The Ares HD-2 can support many of the options of normal helmets, with the exception of any sealed systems or respirators, which must be purchased separately. Models may use flip-down screens or full face plates. Visors may be transparent or face-concealing. Dark Horse Balaclava Dark Horse Enterprises is a small company operating out (at least in part) of Jamaica in the Caribbean League. The Dark Horse Balaclava goes by many names there and elsewhere, and is marketed to extreme sports companies both both warmth and protection. The Dark Horse Balaclava is much more like a helmet than the traditional balaclava, and is lined with densiplast for protection for the head vs. trees, other skiers, walls, the ground, and so forth. Additionally, many more disreputable clients have discovered that the densiplast distorts their features, making it more difficult to recognize them via photographs or facial recognition software. Game Notes: The Dark Horse Balaclava adds one to the overall Impact Armor rating of the character for protection vs. crashes or specific (i.e. Called Shots) impact-related shots to the head, and may be treated as a helmet for purposes of armor stacking. In addition, the DH Balaclava adds +2 to the TN the facial recognition system needs to pick the character out and identify them (please see SOTA 2063, page 101-102) Stealth Fiber Clothing Modification Also a common spy gadget, the modification impregnates the clothing item with the same disintegrating fibers as stealth grapple line. Upon application of a chemical catalyst, the clothing disintegrates completely, leaving only an inert white powdery residue. While it makes getting rid of a disguise extremely easy, it is also in use at some facilities as temporary clothing such as needed for cleansuits and overalls. Game Notes: This modification is incompatible with any other modification. The chemical catalyst stick is identical to the one used for the Stealth Line, and can be found with its entry. Victory Roadrasher Designed off the Rapid Transit Line of jumpsuits worn by messengers and athletes, the Roadrasher is a complete suit of impact armor for those who are regularly exposed to the danger of high-speed impact with the ground (like professional motorcycle racers). Using densiplast and ceramic plating over vulnerable areas and gel-pack technology in the padding of the suit, the Roadrasher can absorb crash damage and cushion the fall of the wearer. The Roadrasher looks like a heavily armored version of a Rapid Transit jumpsuit, with a skintight protective suit and ceramic plating over major joints and ribbed padding over all external surfaces (like hips). The collar of the suit is rigid and locks with the integral helmet in crash situations, adding another layer of protection to the vulnerable neck area and hopefully preventing crushed vertebra or snapped necks. Of course, there is a price for all this protection; while worn, the Roadrasher's encumbrance does tend to keep the wearer from reacting as quickly, but most professionals agree it's a small price to pay for the benefit the Roadrasher provides. Game Notes: The Roadrasher reduces Damage Levels from high-speed impacts and collisions (such as Crash Tests) by one level automatically (reducing a Serious impact collision to Moderate). It comes with an integral helmet that must be worn for this benefit. The Roadrasher cannot be worn with any form of skintight or form-fitting armor. The wearer suffers a -1 Quickness penalty while wearing the suit in addition to all other encumbrance penalties; this also affects Reaction and Combat Pool.
