Basketball
Since the middle of the 20th century, Afro-Americans have dominated basketball, using the NBA as a voice to reach into the tension-tight inner cities even while the U.S. was being torn apart by economics and the corps. When the league was reorganized to fit the new political setup, the game remained an American show.
The North American Basketball Association is a single league divided into four regional conferences. Two conferences have only UCAS teams, split into East and West. The other two are the Pacific Conference, with teams from UCAS and CFS cities, and the Confederate Conference, made up of member teams from the CAS.
The NABA Championship starts with a series of playoffs matching the top two teams from each conference. The four winning teams from the first round play a semifinal round, and the winners of those games face off in the championship.
Cyberware
Basketball is very antsy about cyber. The pattern of the game falls apart if the players are jacked up too high. Reflex
increases are limited to Level 1 Wired Reflexes or Level 2 Boosted Reflexes. Unlimited muscle implants and sensory boosts are allowed, including "smartball" technology, a chipped in combination of a ballistic computer and cyberoptic scanner that boosts accuracy in passing and shooting (See Sure Shot). The league accepted that tech in 2047, after lengthy, bitter arguments.
Weapon implants are out, and so are any complete limb replacements. Any mods that alter the height or reach of a player are illegal.
