Complimentary Tools Stats Item Conceal Weight Avail Cost SI Complementary Tools 3 5 Rating/72 hours 2800*Rating^2 3 Desc Complementary Tools (or Comp Tools) are additional, more advanced tools that can provide complementary dice for skill rolls (as per +hr general compdice). These are available for all non-combat skills for which no tools with Ratings already exist within the book rules. Comp Tools do not negate the need to purchase tool kits/shops/facilities for skills that require them, but they can be integrated into another kit/shop/facility without a Rating of its own and share the same space. Comp Tools could be something like auto-adjusting tool heads that are part of an Electronics Kit, a collection of physical reference books that complement a Magical Beasts Test (digital references would be CompSofts, see +info gear custom misc compsofts for details), or high end cookware that could work as complementary dice for a Cooking Test. Game Notes: Rating may be added to a complementary skill, combining both for a complementary Test so long as no other complementary 'tool dice' could be added to the same roll and the tools can be physically used during the test. Total complementary dice can not exceed the base skill. (Please see +hr general compdice for further info.) This is not a substitute for tools with ratings that are already defined within the book rules but IS a supplemental rule that can fill in Ratings whenever other tools with Ratings do not already exist that may be used for the complementary Test in question. Enchanting Tools Stats Item Conceal Weight Avail Cost SI Kit 3 5 6/72 hours 10,000=Y= 2 Shop — — 8/1 week 100,000=Y= 3 Desc An enchanting kit is needed for talismongering and to gather raw materials for enchanting. It can also be used to refine herbal or mineral materials. The gear fits inside a large backpack or suitcase. An enchanting shop is needed for artificing or alchemy, for analyzing materials or items and for refining metal ores. The equipment will fit into a mid-sized van, but using it requires room to spread out (about 50 square meters). This is especially true if working with metals or performing alchemy, which requires operating furnaces and forges. A shop used for working with these materials needs fuel for the furnace, forge, and so on: electrical current, natural gas, fuel oil, or a plentiful supply of wood or coal. A shop can be used to perform any task for which you would use a kit. Enchanting gear alone is sufficient for gathering raw materials or performing talismongering. If a character plans to work in alchemy or artificing, he or she must meet additional requirements: a shaman must carry out these operations in a shamanic lodge, and a mage must have access to an Enchanting library, both with a rating at least equal to the operation being performed. Shops and facilities that conduct implant and transimplant surgery and repair of higher grade ware have the same availability and price adjustments as those implants do. Basic and Cosmetic bioware needs to be installed in an alpha clinic. Cultured bioware needs to be installed in a beta clinic. All clinics must be installed in Medium lifestyle or greater location to function normally, representing the commercial utilities required for a clinic. A clinic installed in a Low Lifestyle location suffers a surgery penalty for Bad Conditions. A clinic optimally requires one building point per point of clinic rating. However, if space or costs are an issue, a higher rating clinic may be used in a smaller space while observing the following limitations: A clinic may have only 1 theatre (operating bed) per point space. Each theatre may accomodate 1 doctor for a given surgery. Every point allows for 3 additional assistants. Any number of assistants may be used for a single given surgery. (Though a doctor has limits, see +info surgery facts) Example: Doc Painless owns a R4 Clinic based in a Medium size Middle Lifestyle building. He has 6 assistants on his staff. Any time he performs a surgery in one of his 2 theatres, he can assign all six of his staff to assist him. With the addition of another doctor on staff, two simultaneous surgeries can take place while dividing up the 6 assistants between each doctor. Grade applies to medical tools. See +hr cyberbio tools.
