The channels to get signed up for the tournament run through the trix Shadowlands. Much akin to the setup of the unarmed tournament earlier this month, the rules are somewhat different and what little 'rules' that exist were explained within it. The contestants are signed up through the 'trix and no initial location is given for the first fight. Instead they are notified that they will be sent a GPS location within the Warrens, a time to be there, and an opponent.

Early on a Saturday morning, the respective communits of Osama and Mouse go off. The text comes from the 'Conductor' and provies everything that was promised: A GPS location, a picture of the opponent, and a time to be there. Against the current time, it only gives the two 20 minutes to arrive there. If punched into a mapsoft or simple trix search, the GPS location is within a derelict building in the Warrens. The old K-Mart building, a relic from an era past, that is little more than a shell of it's former self that houses a community of squatters and worse.

«Plot» AdamLOG says, "Environmental Effects: A Player may utilize the enviroment's many shelves, rafters, walls, hobos, etc to gain an 'Advantage' bonus as described in the books. This requires a Complex Action and exists until the opponent spends a Complex Action to neutralize it (by gaining the advantage themselves or removing it). This does not stack, so the most you can ever have is the -1 TN as described in SR3. You can not both have the 'Advantage' at the same time, think 'Reach' for Environmental manipulation."

Osama steps forward, having been here previously to observe the sparring that had taken place. A curious mix of serious combat and serious lunacy. He steps forward, dropping a dufflebag next to himself, looking to his watch.

There's little time to waste. Mouse adjusts his clothing uncomfortably and stands up from his table. Waiting in the warrens in this shithole of a house was boring enough, everything else to deal with today is only making it worse. Mouse touches his hair carefully and picks up his sword. He nods to the other men at the house's table and sets off for the destination in a fairly old GMC Bulldog. He pulls up at the k-mart in time and steps out of the vehicle, taking a minute to gather his courage before checking his GPS device and walking into the K-Mart. With wide eyes and a hand on his sword, he begins looking about for the person in his photo.

The previous contestant, Malamute, wanders off to find a seat. She's rather tired, and although she's not bleeding, there's a couple large slices through her coat. Finding a spot near the wall, she leans back and relaxes, curious about the next fight.

«Plot-Page» (To: Osama) AdamLOG says, "There is a catch. Go ahead and give me an open perception test. Also what sort of perception mods do you have?"

As the contestants arrive— there is a local broadcast channel that is opened up for betting. The odds are 1:1 due to the anon nature of both of the contestants. At the very top of the channel is a marque that scrolls text saying the following: Criticalfault's Fixing services - For when you need just the right item to put the Fault right in your opponents Critical!

Given the iconic and audial nature of the dystopian future, a little icon also speaks it to those with ear buds (or speakers) in a multitude of languages.

«Plot-Page» (To: Osama) AdamLOG says, "There is no doubt that 'Mouse' matches the picture on the communit you got. But there are some subtle differences that just are not right. Things like jawline structure and the nose— physical things that no amount of makeup are going to fix. Also with that in mind, you notice a very faint thermal and motion signature nearby the 'Mouse' that has entered. You cant seem to get any true visual read, but your other cyber gets the occasional read."
«Auto-Judge[TRUE]» Osama (#799) has the Active Skill Disguise with the value '6 (7)' (only to AdamLOG).
«Auto-Judge[TRUE]» Osama (#799) has the Knowledge Skill Disguise Background with the value '5 (6)' (only to AdamLOG).
«Plot-Page» (To: AdamLOG) Osama says, "Do tell me more."
«Plot-Page» (To: Osama) AdamLOG says, "Not much more to elaborate on. The 'Mouse' is a fake, or Mouse really needs a lot of Disguise work to make himself look like himself every day."

Osama reaches down and picks up his bag. One hand taps out a simple statement to the organizer: "Mouse is not mouse. Mouse is hiding while another fights in his stead, disguised. Good day."

With that, Osama turns for the door.

Mouse takes a moment to bow his head on seeing the other man. One hand rests on the hilt of his sword, ready to draw it at a moment's notice. The man's brown skin crinkles as he makes a short bow of greeting. Osama's actions cause a ripple across his features that implies he just bit back the urge to vomit. He stands stock still, wondering what to do next.. this was not part of the briefing. There is a brief moment where he swallows and nods to a command perhaps whispered in his ear.. and Mouse turns around to watch the other man leave the arena.

The air is still— tense even. Though there is nothing that is keeping Osama from leaving. The crowd that is here is all staring on a dime and watching with anticipation. You can hear the people who placed bets already grinding thier teeth.

To (AdamLOG, Nanashi), Osama pages: Any chance I can recognize nanashi? I am well versed int eh shadows, I know its not mouse… ?
Long distance to (Osama, Nanashi): AdamLOG would say it is a Shadowscenes Player roll to filter out the crap and realize its Nan.
To (AdamLOG, Osama), Nanashi pages: Sounds good!
To (AdamLOG, Nanashi), Osama pages: Math Coprocessor help, tied in to the orientation sysstem for exact measurements?
Long distance to (Osama, Nanashi): AdamLOG shakes. At that level of precision the 'proxy' would skew the results and the real Nan's silloutte is too vague to get an accurate read.
To (AdamLOG, Nanashi), Osama pages: Disguise as a comp skill?
From afar, to (AdamLOG, Nanashi): Osama is just shooten in the dark.

To (AdamLOG, Osama), Nanashi pages: Absolutely!
To (AdamLOG, Nanashi), Osama pages: Only adam log saw the roll.
You paged (Osama, Nanashi) with 'Not that you were on the test. Yeah, he blew it away. You know.'.
To (AdamLOG, Nanashi), Osama pages: But it had 8,10,15,17
To (AdamLOG, Osama), Nanashi pages: Osama, you rule.

Osama pauses near the door, looking back over his shoulder. His voice, when it comes, is simple, but solid and fills the air. "You dishonor yourself, Nanashi-Sama, by wearing another face and by assisting another to be a coward. You take upon yourself the sins of your patron, the aptly named coward, Mouse." He shakes his head, then fixes Nanashi with a stare. "Admit your shame, and leave the field."

'Mouse' as he appears to have signed in as is thoroughly petrified by the situation. It was going to be scary, but clearly he's bitten off more than he can chew. The silhouette picked out by Osama barely moves from its position when addressed, instead taking a single heartbeat to consider things and say, "Never." Nanashi's voice is icy and speaks volumes of glacial dertermination. Here he stands, unashamed and only mildly disappointed that the ruse didn't work.

Osama thinks that over for a moment, then looks to the Cameras. "Mouse has failed to make himself known, and sent another in his place. He forefits his place in this tornament, and this man who is not mouse, is not a competitor."

There is no response. If there is, indeed, any sort of referee to this contest, they have a very passive role about the amount of intervention they offer.

Thus far there's been silence from the woman with the freaky 'ware, but she looks up, scratching the side of her head. She glances between the two and barely frowns. There's a small whisper from her, "The 'real' Mouse should come out and fight."

«Plot» AdamLOG says, "Both of you hear it. Posing."

[Matrix] Reed Pulse says, "Punish osama Y, mouse n. ain't nothin' wrong with disguises."

Faintly one of the physically present people watching says, "What the frag…" and hits a response.

[Matrix] «<Nacht»> Osama says, "It is Nanashi, hired to be someones… how to say.. 'ringer'."

[Matrix] Mirage says, "((Please change your comtitle then!))"
[Matrix] Reed Pulse says, "(this -is- reed.)"

"You are the one not attacking." The icy response of a determined old man shoots back. Mouse's knuckles turn white while gripping the hilt of his sword, still wholly unsure of what happens to solve disputes like this.
"Just attack!" A booming voice in the crowd shouts. "If he won't raise his damn weapon, strike him down!"

There is Nanashi, who is going by the name of Mouse, standing near an NPC, who is claiming to be Mouse. Nanashi is invisible (ruth).

Malamute stands up and brushes her pants off, walking with a slight swagger as she makes her way outside. There's one last glance to the contestants as she leaves, and she makes sure to give them both a wide birth. Likely going out to smoke or somethin'.

Osama's eyes flicker on, tight beams of blue-white light lancing in to the darkness. Not superflash, just eye-lights. He scans them over the area near 'Mouse', once, twice, then stops, looking directly at Nanashi. Or the other invisible guy in that area, who is now very confused.

"We are done here."

Osama turns and leaves, unless attacked.

The light illuminates the silhouette beside Mouse, reflecting off the rippling surface of what seems to be a bulky man. It is motionless, rather like a glass gargoyle. A few little whispers come from it, perhaps to assuage the actor's fears of impending doom. This trick probably won't work more than once. As instructed (or perhaps because he's too terrified to move), Mouse stands still. Nanashi keeps position and simply waits for Osama to leave. It seems like there's no fight here, there's no reason for bloodshed.

Croc mutters and tears up his betting slip.
